from that a little bit of adversity and that penalty
kick that the penalty there got one themselves and then
they took over the game, which he was pretty dominant
in this sense. It wasn't the most exciting first half.
It wasn't mostly exciting kind of sixty and sixty minutes,

Ryan Kent, the ability for Oba Vargas to get forward,
and of course the moose is most definitely loose and
four for four for Danny Massofsky, and then we could
talk about how Terrible knew who's and I'm gonna tell

to see dancing, I want to see more smiles. You

I went down into the stadium and watched for a
little bit. I don't do that very often. What great
energy in the crowd was very very loud. It was
we said it before the game that they were good.
They were good throughout the game.

Match on US program, and we saw the announced attendance
was a bit over thirty one thousand, and I think
you know, if it's just the extra two thousand we
get from you know, the normal crowd with due to
the first match on US program, that extra two thousand,
I tell you what, you know, you can look it
away out what percentage is that overall? That makes a difference.

Man Like the sound of the crowd, the energy of
the crowd. We talked about it at walkout. It felt
a little bit more oomph. And I'm not sure players
feet off of that, but at least for us in
the stands, for us in the booth here, that little
extra from the fans tonight. Man like that I felt
that tonight, Callen, it was great and clue they I
mean for fans who got to come see their first

You feel it because there is more excitement involved. There
is more like you know, look, the Sounders have gone
through and won a lot of trophies, They've won a

the first time and it's new to you, oh, we
feel that energy and we thrive off of that energy
and we want that to continue to go through. So,
you know, credit to the Sounders for giving this, uh,
you know, giving everyone they can to give their first game.

So we talk about how fun it is to watch
this team, and obviously the first sixty minutes obviously there
was there was some good moments, there was some not
go good moment so good moments. And then I think
in the last thirty thirty five minutes or so, obviously
this team was flying and it was waves, and it
was goals and it was chances after chances after chances.

Possibly he should have been five to one, if you know,
we'd missed a penalty kick shout from a handball in
the second half. But like so much of attractive soccer
being played there in the last thirty minutes, and Kellen,
you mentioned it coming in fifty seventh minute, Ryan Kent
comes on the field and as we kind of transition
and we talk about the debate of tonight's toyota Man

of the Match. It's strange, but it probably isn't so
inaccurate to say that Ryan Kent is certainly one of
the players in discussion for Man of the Match because
of the massive impact he had to assist thirty minutes,
I mean, off the air work kind of just waxing poetic.
This guy is very, very talented and very fun to watch, Kellen.

When you think about it, coach, you're thinking, okay, Brian
Smetter looks like a genius. He puts Ryan Kent, donte,
he's at fifty seventh minute, right, I'm gonna go sixty
a minute and make it even numbers for everyone else.
But he comes out of the sixtieth minute, let's say,
and he changes the game right, the game in favor,
in possession, in quality, in chances created in the touches
inside the box.

Obviously, you know, three goals he assists Obed Vargas in
the fourth minute he's on the field.

What a luxury to have to be able to sub.
We have not had this luxury to be able to
sub someone in. And then the game elevates, right and
his decision making. There were a couple Pedro's pushing a
little bit right. He was on the right hand side.
He took two shots from the right side of the
box outside of the box. Alex Roldan was there for

one that he could have laid it off. Ovid was
there for one that he could have laid off. Both
shots went over the crossbar. You could kind of feel
the frustration Ryan Kent gets out. He could take shots,
but instead gets his head up pick people out on

just drove across, but I don't know that it had

the direction, whereas Ryan Kent picks players out. So I
don't know how long he stays on the bench, by
the way, but that's gonna be Brian has that luxury
too of saying, hey, you can go with a hot hand.

Look, I think the game changed, and although ovid Vargas
is at number two and in very close number two,
I have to give it to Ryan Kent because the
quality that he brought, the game changing ability that he
brought and the fact that I mean, I don't think
Saint Louis got over the half when Ryan Kent came
onto the field. I'm not sure they actually got into
their other half. And so Ryan Kent one dropped a

shoulder and beat a player two three times right, two
and three times in the half and there was a
Saint Louis player looking around, turning around in full three
to sixty trying to find Ryan who's already two fat
you know, two feet by him. That's an incredible play.
He had two assists in thirty minutes. Thirty three minutes, Okay,
I don't think he lost the ball at all. Had
maybe had a chance himself that was blocked. I think

he had a full performance for the thirty three minutes
that he had.

Yeah, there's a lot of candidates. Danny Misovski four goals
in four games. He did have four chances that he created,

my opinion, as a club. Right Jordan Morris just got
another MRI and is now out for another six let's say,

Diabetes as well, type one diabetes and he's having a
chat with them. A hard time for Jordan coming off
and not feeling good about anything that's happening right now.

is talking to two fans who stayed after the game.
He's he is now in his tracksuit, kind of already

But you know, you look at the Sounders as we

kind of transition and talk about on the field, and
I think one of the biggest questions was can this
team be successful and can this team work offensively without
Jordan Morris up top to stretch the field? And I
think we have seen a different type of Sounders team
over these last few games. Now Jordan is out again,
and even with Mazovsky in there, they're functioning quite well

on the offensive end.

They are, and they're finding ways because there's multiple players scoring.
I that's no longer just Jordan, they're finding multiple players.

So you can talk about Danny Massovski not being the
forward that everyone thinks he is, but four goals in
four games, yeah, right, you're talking about Ovid Vargas who
was just a sitting he just at number six.

Well that's another goal, right, another goal this year you're
talking about the Ryan kenn inclusion, and then you're talking
about new who right. They just they're spreading the love
a little bit more. They're finding ways to get to
get wins, get results.

Your defenders are scoring goals.

That's a really good thing, right, because you're gonna rely
on your forwards to do it, your wingers to do it.

to stick with the four two three one, stick with
Alex rolled On, who's your left winger going in and
starting that game in Houston? You know, I think the
decision to start Ryan Kent is an easy one. Right.

He showed he's got the quality, he showed he's got
the fitness. Now you want to give him a little
bit of a runout. It's not too hot in Houston
at the moment. You know, he's sure it's getting to
like June July. You don't want to start a player
like that in his first you know, away game, start
in a Houston heat. However, I think the decision is, really,
do you play a Paul Rothrock on the right side

or do you keep running out dayla Vega in a
place that is hard to play. It is an away game,
it is a guy who is prone to injury. I
in my opinion, I think you're starting Ryan Kent, and
you have pagro De la Vega off the bench to
replace him when he needs to come off, and you
have Paul Rothrock running as far as he can.

Paul's started all the first eleven games, right, He's he
didn't necessarily lose his spot.

had a bunch of guys who were not typical starters

get the win. They stayed on the field.

So we're getting close though, where he's gonna have to

The second half won this game for the Sounders and
the second half featured Ryan Kent.

to say that Brian did great tonight, in my opinion,
was he left Danny Massovski on. We all wanted de

right before the half, which I think gave him a

played in and Danny hit it very well, goalkeeper knocks

and I think some coaches would have pulled the trigger

doesn't matter, right, and it doesn't matter. They came back
from that a little bit of adversity and that penalty
kick that the penalty there got one themselves and then
they took over the game, which he was pretty dominant
in this sense. It wasn't the most exciting first half.
It wasn't mostly exciting kind of sixty and sixty minutes,

but we we'll talk about it later. The addition of
Ryan Kent, the ability for Oba Vargas to get forward,
and of course the moose is most definitely loose and
four for four for Danny Massofsky, and then we could
talk about how Terrible knew who's and I'm gonna tell
him this the Terrible News celebration, was your second goal ever?

Come on, man, I want to see more. I want
to see dancing, I want to see more smiles. You
know it's too serious. He knew who's not. You know,
he's not a serious guy. He's pretty fun, he's pretty exciting.

He obviously worked very hard. He was up and down

Once we got the penalty kick to tie it, everything
shifted back to Seattle. So that's a great win for
the team. We've we've now scored nine goals in four games.
We've given up two goals. Those are the numbers that
the fans like. The fans were great tonight.

I went down into the stadium and watched for a
little bit. I don't do that very often. What great
energy in the crowd was very very loud. It was
we said it before the game that they were good.
They were good throughout the game.

So tonight was another game of part of the first
Match on US program, and we saw the announced attendance
was a bit over thirty one thousand, and I think
you know, if it's just the extra two thousand we
get from you know, the normal crowd with due to
the first match on US program, that extra two thousand,
I tell you what, you know, you can look it
away out what percentage is that overall? That makes a difference.
(06:28):
Man Like the sound of the crowd, the energy of
the crowd. We talked about it at walkout. It felt
a little bit more oomph. And I'm not sure players
feet off of that, but at least for us in
the stands, for us in the booth here, that little
extra from the fans tonight. Man like that I felt
that tonight, Callen, it was great and clue they I
mean for fans who got to come see their first

Sounder match ever tonight for one win, they're going home
hopefully saying let's go to another one. And I'll tell
you what.

The players in the field definitely feel it and they
definitely hear.

There's a little bit of a bump in the crowd,
and there's a little bit of bump on the field.
And when you when it comes to fans that are
new to the game, they're new to the Sounders, it's
almost like that surprise factory, right of like, wow, this
is actually amazing and they get involved in.

So isn't just a zero zero game. No, soccer is cool, but.
Speaker 7 (07:16):
You feel it because there is more excitement involved. There
is more like you know, look, the Sounders have gone
through and won a lot of trophies, They've won a
lot of games, and so when you see it for
the first time and it's new to you, oh, we
feel that energy and we thrive off of that energy
and we want that to continue to go through. So,
you know, credit to the Sounders for giving this, uh,
you know, giving everyone they can to give their first game.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
So we talk about how fun it is to watch
this team, and obviously the first sixty minutes obviously there
was there was some good moments, there was some not
go good moment so good moments. And then I think
in the last thirty thirty five minutes or so, obviously
this team was flying and it was waves, and it
was goals and it was chances after chances after chances.
(07:59):
Possibly he should have been five to one, if you know,
we'd missed a penalty kick shout from a handball in
the second half. But like so much of attractive soccer
being played there in the last thirty minutes, and Kellen,
you mentioned it coming in fifty seventh minute, Ryan Kent
comes on the field and as we kind of transition
and we talk about the debate of tonight's toyota Man
(08:20):
of the Match. It's strange, but it probably isn't so
inaccurate to say that Ryan Kent is certainly one of
the players in discussion for Man of the Match because
of the massive impact he had to assist thirty minutes,
I mean, off the air work kind of just waxing poetic.
This guy is very, very talented and very fun to watch, Kellen.
Speaker 7 (08:42):
When you think about it, coach, you're thinking, okay, Brian
Smetter looks like a genius. He puts Ryan Kent, donte,
he's at fifty seventh minute, right, I'm gonna go sixty
a minute and make it even numbers for everyone else.
But he comes out of the sixtieth minute, let's say,
and he changes the game right, the game in favor,
in possession, in quality, in chances created in the touches
inside the box.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
Obviously, you know, three goals he assists Obed Vargas in
the fourth minute he's on the field.
Speaker 7 (09:07):
And then again to the man of them, the man
of the match now knew who Right.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
I'm just kidding. I'm kidding everyone, I'm kidding. I'm kidding.

But you know, to assists in thirty minutes, yeah, or
thirty three minutes, whatever you want to call it.

Right, he obviously changed the game. His other players that
played very good games, especially full ninety minutes. We'll talk
about Ovid Vargas as well. As he created a lot
and scored a goal himself and got the handball call
that should have been a penalty, right opinion. But Ryan
Kent coming in coach, he changed the game.

What a luxury to have to be able to sub.
We have not had this luxury to be able to
sub someone in. And then the game elevates, right and
his decision making. There were a couple Pedro's pushing a
little bit right. He was on the right hand side.
He took two shots from the right side of the
box outside of the box. Alex Roldan was there for

one that he could have laid it off. Ovid was
there for one that he could have laid off. Both
shots went over the crossbar. You could kind of feel
the frustration Ryan Kent gets out. He could take shots,
but instead gets his head up pick people out on
the cross. It's not just pinging him across, but it's
another level. Georgie had a really good cross that he
just drove across, but I don't know that it had
(10:15):
the direction, whereas Ryan Kent picks players out. So I
don't know how long he stays on the bench, by
the way, but that's gonna be Brian has that luxury
too of saying, hey, you can go with a hot hand.

And we've got a little depth now on the white guys.

So new Who scores on the Ryan Kent assist. We
also have Mazovsky scoring on the new Who assist. We
have ovid Vargas scoring on the Ryan Kent assist. So
we talk about goal contributions there, and then Rusnak obviously
had the penalty. There are three of us here. Let's
give some votes for the Toyota Man of the Match.

Look, I think the game changed, and although ovid Vargas
is at number two and in very close number two,
I have to give it to Ryan Kent because the
quality that he brought, the game changing ability that he
brought and the fact that I mean, I don't think
Saint Louis got over the half when Ryan Kent came
onto the field. I'm not sure they actually got into
their other half. And so Ryan Kent one dropped a
(11:08):
shoulder and beat a player two three times right, two
and three times in the half and there was a
Saint Louis player looking around, turning around in full three
to sixty trying to find Ryan who's already two fat
you know, two feet by him. That's an incredible play.
He had two assists in thirty minutes. Thirty three minutes, Okay,
I don't think he lost the ball at all. Had
maybe had a chance himself that was blocked. I think

he had a full performance for the thirty three minutes
that he had.

Yeah, there's a lot of candidates. Danny Misovski four goals
in four games. He did have four chances that he created,
which is what you want. You want your FORWDS.

You should have had a hat trick though.

He could have for sure, and I'm sure he would
think that exact same thing.

we have four wingers that can cause problems, right, Georgie Pedro,

right back in it. So you got to give kudos
to Paul for that as well. Right, he drew that penalty.
That was uh, cunning on his part, right, luxury and cunning.

angry with me. It's fun. I was gonna go obed
Vargas Vargas to midfield, and in that first sixty minutes
where it was really back forth and Saint Louis could
have even gone ahead, Vargus was doing work on both ends.

hadn't been deflected, and ultimately I thought he had a

over these last few games. Now Jordan is out again,
and even with Mazovsky in there, they're functioning quite well

They are, and they're finding ways because there's multiple players scoring.
I that's no longer just Jordan, they're finding multiple players.

Well that's another goal, right, another goal this year you're
talking about the Ryan kenn inclusion, and then you're talking
about new who right. They just they're spreading the love
a little bit more. They're finding ways to get to

Your defenders are scoring goals.

That's a really good thing, right, because you're gonna rely
on your forwards to do it, your wingers to do it.

was tremendous. Kellen. If you're Brian Schmitzer and you want
to stick with the four two three one, stick with
Alex rolled On, who's your left winger going in and
starting that game in Houston? You know, I think the
decision to start Ryan Kent is an easy one. Right.

He showed he's got the quality, he showed he's got
the fitness. Now you want to give him a little
bit of a runout. It's not too hot in Houston
at the moment. You know, he's sure it's getting to
like June July. You don't want to start a player
like that in his first you know, away game, start
in a Houston heat. However, I think the decision is, really,
do you play a Paul Rothrock on the right side
(27:46):
or do you keep running out dayla Vega in a
place that is hard to play. It is an away game,
it is a guy who is prone to injury. I
in my opinion, I think you're starting Ryan Kent, and
you have pagro De la Vega off the bench to
replace him when he needs to come off, and you
have Paul Rothrock running as far as he can.

Paul's started all the first eleven games, right, He's he
didn't necessarily lose his spot.

I was surprised.

I bet he was disappointed to come off as early

done the best, I would put Paul ahead of dalea
Vega on that one and maybe give Frian Kent the start.
Brian's good about rewarding guys when they win, right, and
we've seen that over the last few weeks. So he
had a bunch of guys who were not typical starters

get the win. They stayed on the field.

So we're getting close though, where he's gonna have to
start making those times.

The second half won this game for the Sounders and
the second half featured Ryan Kent.

However, the penalty that came back to even up was
a Paul Rothrock penaltry and.

Very heads the play from him. One thing I want
to say that Brian did great tonight, in my opinion,
was he left Danny Massovski on. We all wanted de
Rosario to go on, but he had two good chances
right before the half, which I think gave him a
little bit of confidence the team some confidence. He had
another good chance as well. All the ball Alex Roldn
played in and Danny hit it very well, goalkeeper knocks

out for a corner kick, and then he gets the goal,
and I think some coaches would have pulled the trigger
a little quicker on Danny. And now Danny's got more
confidence going into the.

We've given him some hard times in the past. We've
we've given him some hard times when he's played, but
he's done his job once again night four for four.
