It's time for Egan's weekly visit with NFL Films Greg Coso,
brought to you by Seattle Cider Company on your home
for the twelfth Man in the NFL Sports Radio ninety
three point three kJ r FM.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
All Right, here we go. This will be a fun one.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
They're all fun, They're all fun with Greg co Sell
there's no doubt about that. But this will be a
good one, arguably the biggest game of the weekend in
the NFL. I know that it's not the Sunday night game,
but that's not a divisional matchup. This one is Seahawks
and Rams. Greg Cosel is here. We're not talking Titans.
I guess that's next week. We're not talking some AFC
(03:29):
South Slappy. We're talking about the La Rams and the
Seattle Seahawks. Greg coast LESPN Matchup Show, NFL Films, All
Things Film Guru to talk about what Greg, they are
calling here and I'm not sure LA, but it's LA,
so maybe they don't even know the games going on.
But here in Seattle people are discussing it as being
(03:50):
the biggest regular season game in filling the blank, however,
long for the Seahawks as they take on the Rams.
Speaker 7 (03:57):
Wow, well it is to my way of thinking, it's
the biggest game of the weekend. But again, you know
that's just the way I see it, because you're dealing
with what are both teams seven and two?
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Yes? Yeah, both teams are seven and two.
Speaker 7 (04:11):
It's a really big game. There's a lot to discuss
the and where do you want to start.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Well, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Let me I want to look back a little bit
last week and just get your thoughts on because we'll
go to the Seahawk defense against Stafford and the Rams offense.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
But I want to look a quick look back.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
They come out last week against Jacobe Prissett to the sea,
does Mike McDonald's defense and something that I mean, Listen,
nobody watches more NFL games in film than you. Have
you ever seen back to back plays in which the
same linebacker causes a fumble and the same defensive end
picks it up, scoops and scores like Tyrese Knight and
(04:54):
de Marcus Lawrence did last week.
Speaker 7 (04:58):
I don't think I've seen that in particular. I've seen
a lot of football. I don't know if I've seen that,
you know. And it's funny Night was playing because Jones
was inactive, Otherwise he wouldn't have been on the field.
Speaker 8 (05:09):
You know.
Speaker 7 (05:09):
It's the way they do these things that always stands
out to me. It's not the play itself or who scores.
I mean, you know, the first one was a five
man pressure with an overload element. Yet em and Warry
and Briant both blitzing off the edge. Night actually was
not a blitzer on that play. He was what we
call a green dogger. He had the running back man
(05:29):
to man, but when the running back blocked Em and Warie,
he added in as an extra rusher and there was
no one to account for him. So he was what
we call a free hitter, and that's what caused obviously
the fumble. And then of course he had the second one,
which was early in the second quarter, that came out
of what we call big nickel. You know, that's essentially
(05:50):
what they play. They play more nickel at a higher
percentage than any team in the league because of Em
and Wari that one, they showed a seven man front
look with Lawrence inside of and Wo sue, but they
ran a five man pressure with an inside stunt. Night
was the penetrator, Lawrence was the looper. Knight beat the
back stepping up, and Lawrence was cleaned through the a
(06:10):
gap and we know the result. So it's two different
concepts that ended up with the same result.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Just you know why the segment we did two weeks
ago with Hugh and Greg was so good, it's because,
as Greg's describing that That's exactly what we just heard
from Hugh on Hardcore Football on Monday with those two plays. Yeah,
and the tyres Night part of it, Greg, I thought
was really cool because help me out here is as
you described it, as you described it basically the same
(06:38):
way on Monday. That's that's a read that he has
to make, right because he's watching the running back on
off was Kyraen Williams or Blake Koram.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
First went yeah, yeah, like he had agreed that right now.
Speaker 7 (06:51):
That can be coached. There are some teams that want
a linebacker or a safety to to add in when
when their man to make responsibility blocks, and there's other
teams that don't. And I never understand that because then
that defender ends up just covering grass. He's standing there
with nothing to do. But I've always been a believer.
You know, again, I'm not a coach, but I've always
(07:12):
been a believer in what has always been called the
green dog concept or you know, a green dog where
you add in as a rusher when your man to
man responsibility blocks. And that's what Knight did on the
first one. And my guess is that's coach that you know,
he's they work on that and they they tell him
to do that, you know, be aggressive. Let's be aggressive,
you know, let's let's not be be reactive, Let's be proactive,
(07:34):
and let's be aggressive.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
I love it too, because it's night. As you mentioned,
wouldn't been playing if not for Jones being hurt. No,
you know, so it's not like he's a starter and
going through all those reps every day. He probably did
last week. But let's get to what they're gonna see
this week. And again, this is always fun because normally
within five or six minutes of us figuring out talking
to Great Coseel, sometime in the one o'clock hour, one
thirty quarter to two, we find out what the Seahawks'
(07:57):
injury report looks like. Jones, I would say, is question
He as questionable as of yesterday. So we'll see if
it's Jones again or not. But you know, we know
Julian loves out because he's on the injured list right now.
So it's gonna be Tayakota again. Jaron Reid still out,
so we do know those things. Emon warr is back.
Job we think, by the way, get great. We think
Job will be back. He's been practicing so.
Speaker 7 (08:18):
Interesting what they do then, because obviously we moved Wolan
to the boundary corner this week where Job has been playing.
Does that mean Wolan sits and Joe plays? You know,
that's gonna be really interesting.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
This week they went from having no depth at cornerback
to maybe possibly some depth at cornerback because woman's playing better, right,
isn't Wolan playing better?
Speaker 9 (08:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (08:38):
And you know, I think you're the one who said it.
You know that there's not many guys at six four
two fifteen that move like that, So it's not as
if you discard him. So if he if he's focused
and concentrating and playing, well, he's got trades. But clearly
I thought Job was playing you know better, which is
why he was playing. So that's gonna be interesting to
see what happens Ian.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
All right, so let's get great Cozelle joining us Chrissy
Seattlesider big thanks to Seattlesider down there in Sodo.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Of course, you can look for it in your local
grocery stores.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Pumpkin spice this time of the year is absolutely sensational,
not too sweet, which is what I like. Perfect balance
of the cider and the pumpkin flavor along the way
for your holiday seasons.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
You can look for it in the local grocery stores.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Also, the tap room now is open for all ages
with food, so check that out. Seattle Cider, They're gonna
see a really good offense. Sean McVay is eleven and
six against the Seahawks two different coaches. Obviously, one of
those losses, the six to be making to eleven and
six was a game that didn't matter last year when
Seattle wrapped up the season in La Rams already clinched
(09:35):
the division before the game, so I kind of throw
that one out there. I'd almost say it's ten and
a half to five and a half in terms of
his record. But Matt Stafford, Greg, you've watched him. I'm guessing,
if I'm not mistaken, you've probably watched every snap of
Matt Stafford's career because that's what you do.
Speaker 7 (09:52):
Yeah, he's well. I think the first thing you have
to talk about with the Rams. We know Stafford is great.
That's not even a question. Is they did something this year?
Starting three weeks ago, they made a change as dramatic
as you'll ever see in the middle of a season.
Ian and again, I wish I've been trying to find
out for people smarter than I why they did this,
(10:14):
because it is so dramatic. You know, you can think
back three four years to the Rams. Every year they
literally were the league leader, and the percentage of plays
that they ran out of eleven personnel meaning three wide receivers,
they were literally ninety two ninety three percent of their
offensive snaps or an eleven personnel. That's who they were.
(10:35):
Three weeks ago they started playing with three tight ends. Okay,
the last three weeks they've played eighty nine snaps with
three tight ends. They've been playing over forty percent of
their offensive snaps with three tight ends. And just to
show you what a dramatic change that's been. In the
first five weeks of this season, they played no snaps
(10:57):
with three tight ends. Is totally different. You rarely see
that kind of change in the middle of a season
like that, but it has been so dramatic.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
I guess we'd have to ask Sean McVay this, But
what are the advantages with what they have personnel wise
to do that.
Speaker 7 (11:17):
I did hear someone smarter than I talk about it
doing the Rams game this past week, and that was
Tom Brady and he talked about and I knew this
as soon as he said it, but obviously, you know
he's playing. I didn't, but he said that What it
does is it really cuts down on what defenses can
do from a playbook standpoint that you know, maybe they
(11:41):
run twenty to thirty percent of what they really want
to do versus three tight ends because they're usually they're
playing bass. You know, you know everything is different with
three tight ends, and you know, all that makes perfect sense.
You know, it's one reason why most people have always
thought first down at a base personnel is the down
to throw on because you tend to get defensively, more
(12:03):
predictable front looks, more predictable coverage looks. Now you're going
to get a lot more of that. I'm going to
be fascinating to watch this game on tape to see
what Mike McDonald does. Obviously i'm going to see it,
you know, a good bit on TV as well, But yeah,
I won't be studying it, you know that way, I'll
just be enjoying it. So next week when I watch it,
I'll be fascinating to see what Mike McDonald does. But
(12:24):
it is a truly significant change.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Mike McDonald's strength.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Is it not to have open up that defensive playbook
That sounds like it's a counter to what Mike McDonald
wants to do.
Speaker 7 (12:35):
Yeah, that's why it's going to be fascinating to see
what he does. I mean, obviously they play m and
Worry anyway. You know, he's a hybrid player, so you
know they'll probably still The question is this, do they
keep Em and Rory on the field. Do they go
to a five to two front, in which case Em
and Worry comes off the field. I would think they
(12:56):
want Em and Rory on the field because they throw
at it three. You know, keep in mind, this is
not they don't do this just to run the ball.
And they've played eighty nine snaps of it over the
last three weeks. They're not running on eighty nine snaps.
Stafford's numbers throwing the ball out of three tight ends
are ridiculous. Do you know that in the last three games,
just these last three games, out of three tight ends,
(13:16):
he's throwing eight touchdown passes.
Speaker 8 (13:19):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (13:19):
So who's I mean is it is?
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Are they going so three tight ends one running back
or are they going empty and they go on two
wide receivers?
Speaker 7 (13:29):
One running back and one ride receiver who's almost always
DeVante Adams. Pokin Nakula does not play when they play
three tight ends, so's it's DeVante Adams Pookin. Nakula really
doesn't play unless they have three wide receivers on the field.
You know, he doesn't even play hardly ever, when they
have two tight ends on the field, much less three.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
So if Niku is not in there, Adams is. But
they are throwing to Adams and we think he's playing.
He was banged up, but it sounds like he's ready
to go. So how often, I mean, the coup is
still a huge part of their offense. So this is
this is I'm curious about.
Speaker 7 (14:04):
Well, I mean, obviously, if they're if they're running three
tight ends, let's say forty five percent of the time,
there's still fifty five percent other snaps. The coup is
still a huge part, no question. But you know, again,
I don't know if they were waiting, for instance, for
Terence Ferguson to get healthy. You know him from being
an Oregon. He's a player I really liked coming out.
He's a guy that's become a pretty big factor now
(14:26):
in their in their offense since they've gone to this
thirteen personnel. They really like Davis Allen, a former Clemson
tight end. I mean, they've got good tight.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Ends, do they, Greg Ozel joining us, It feels like
they do a little bit what Seattle does. Korum looks
like he's getting a lot of some carries at the
expense of Kyraen Williams. I always kind of thought Kiren was
the more talented guy, like I think Ken Walker is
a more talented guy in Seattle. Are they Are they
splitting some some snaps up with those two guys now?
Speaker 8 (14:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (14:54):
And I think again, we don't know the reason. You know,
Sean McVay could tell us, and he's I won't be
adding with him momentarily, so I can't answer this for sure.
But my guess is Kyvin Williams is not a big guy.
And he carried three hundred and sixteen times last year
and didn't even play the final game of the season,
as you know, And uh, you know, I think just
(15:15):
body type wise, you know, you don't want to wear
that kid out. I mean, he's he's not a big man.
So Korum is a very similar style runner, and I'm
sure that's why they drafted him.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
It is a great cosale joining us. Great help me
out with Matt Stafford for a second. I'll switch over
so I want to get to the seatok side, just
Hall of Famer, great player playing at as high level
as he ever has before. Is there anything Just when
someone says to great Cosel, Matt Stafford won on one,
what do you see?
Speaker 7 (15:45):
Well, you have to start with just the way he
throws the football, because you know you got to start there.
You know, it's the way he throws the ball. But
he's played for a long time. He's incredibly smart. He's
really good at the line of scrimmage. He can audible,
he can change plays, he can make any kind of throw.
You know, it's funny, I always when I always hear
(16:07):
people say things like arm strength doesn't matter, And again,
does that mean it's the primary thing. No, But you
know what, arm strength doesn't matter until arm strength matters.
You know, it's kind of like insurance. Insurance doesn't matter
until insurance matters. You know, some guys can't make certain
throws because they just can't make the throws. Stafford has
no issues with that. So he can make the throws
(16:27):
and you know every once in a while you just
see him make throws and you go, wow, that's really good.
You know, So you're dealing with a guy that It
reminds me of a conversation I had with Phil Simms
when I first met him years and years ago, and
he said, the optimum situation for a quarterback is to
be in a place where he's played long enough, where
(16:50):
he's mentally at the top of his game and the
physical traits haven't left him. He said that rarely happens.
Matthew Stafford's a great example of guy that's played long
enough where mentally he's totally at the top of his
game and he still has really high level physical traits.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Greg Coselle joints Chrisy a salester other side of the football,
and I'm almost looking more forward to talking about this
matchup next week in a sense and getting your thoughts
after we see because I mean we've been it's just
the matchup itself just seems so even. But that defense,
for we talked listen Stafford to Kola Adams Seohan McVay offense.
The Rams defense is no joke. Sam Donald and company
(17:28):
have had a couple weeks in a row where they
can take the second half off. So you know that's
it's an interesting dynamic there. That won't be the case
this week. What poses problems for Donald in that offense
with the Rams defense.
Speaker 7 (17:41):
Well, I think I will say this in a positive way.
I think the area that you can attack, assuming you
can protect, because they've got a very good pass rush.
They have the highest percentage stunt defense in the NFL.
Almost thirty nine percent of their pass rushers versus quarterback
dropbacks involve a stunt. By the way, this Hawks are
second in that regard. But you can attack their corners
(18:05):
and I think you know that's something I think you're
going to see them try to do now. Again, Now
it comes down to how you want to go about
your past game. But Forbes and Durant are their outside corners,
and I think they can be attacked and they can
be beaten. But it's how do you go about it
and can you protect? That's the main thing. And I'll
be very curious to see how Clint Kubiak goes about
(18:26):
doing that.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
I mean, it feels like when you as you say that,
I mean, keep a running back in extra protection, tight
end in I mean, is that it feels like you're
going to need to give that offensive line some help.
Speaker 7 (18:39):
Well, what wouldn't surprise me, And again, you don't do
this twelve times in a game. But I think you'll
see it is I think you'll see what we call
shot play concepts where you max pro and you have
Smith and Jigba and Shaheed just basically be a two
man route concept. But if you line up with multiple
tight ends, maybe even twenty two personnel, maybe the fullback,
(18:59):
you know, and you know you're going to get single
high okay, because that's what you're going to get. If
you line up in those without that personnel package, then
you have you can run a vertical route concept with
just two receivers and Shaheed can run and neither Forbes
nor Duran are really fast on the outside. And then
you got Smith and Jigba who's just so so good.
(19:20):
So you know, I think you could see them try
to take some shots there. And we know Donald throws
the ball down the field exceptionally.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Well yeah, I mean, that's the thing that's crazy is
what Donald's done in terms of deep balls this year.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Greg.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
It's I mean, the completion percentage, it's it's seventy two
percent for big plays and things like that. I mean
not just it's I mean those two guys Stafford and
Donald going toe to toe.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
Rashid Shihed, we.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Just saw some glimpses of him last week, scratching the
surface since he got there on Wednesday and had a
game on Sunday. Thing that jumped out at me. And
they tried it a couple of times, using him out
of the backfield, which.
Speaker 7 (19:55):
He had handed him the ball as if he was
a running back. And then they of course, you know
the the versus and all that, and hey, that's smart.
Get that guy who's so fast in space, that's what
you want. You know, one guy misses and all of
a sudden you got a big game. But you know
they'll be incorporated more in the passing game. Obviously he
knows the passing game because he was in New Orleans
(20:15):
with Klinkubiak, so he knows the passing game.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
The in that regard. In that regard, I'm wondering with
Shihied if running those reverses kind of keeps the dns
that great, those great dns that kind of keep them
on their toes, that keep them honest. Is that why
we kind of do those things.
Speaker 7 (20:36):
Well, I mean, there's a number of reasons, but I
also think the use of motion with Shhed, even if
he doesn't get the ball, is a big deal because
that dictates movement by the defense and there's a misdirection
element to that, and then you can do other things
off of that. It can create blocking angles in the
run game, it can create voids in the past game.
(20:57):
So there's multiple reasons why you do so in motions.
Whether it's jet and motion in front of the quarterback,
whether it's orbit motion behind the quarterback. There's multiple reasons
why you might put someone like Shaheat in motion. But
there's no question that you have to deal with that
because you know, you just can't coach that kind of
speed and you have to deal with it as a defense.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Greg Cosell said it to start, it's the biggest game
in the NFL this weekend. If you're saying it, I'm
believing it.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
Greg. That's or believing here in Seattle, we think so too.
Speaker 5 (21:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (21:25):
Well, you know, normally on the East Coast, you know,
you say things like that because people don't think about
the West Coast very much. But I'm just looking at
the whole league, and to me, this is the best
game of the weekend.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
I look forward to talking about it next week with you.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
They take on Tennessee next week, I believe, so.
Speaker 7 (21:41):
We may end up doing this game the whole segment
next week, you know, depending on you know, because it's Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
No not be audit to see.
Speaker 7 (21:47):
I do a lot of work down there, and I
love going to Nashville, but you know, unfortunately they're not
doing that well.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
I was thinking that today.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
I said, we're going to preview this game, which we've
done all week on the radio station. But I think
I'm more excited to talk to Greg next week. You
can see how these two teams matchup, and I think
we'll do that then, Greg, thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
We appreciate you all right.
Speaker 7 (22:06):
Thanks Ian, always love it.
Speaker 2 (22:07):

two five five zero five hundreds.
Speaker 5 (22:57):
Now here's he in with Danny o'neo.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
A big bang grow clust fandling systems up. By the way,
we want to get down here to second. I want
to remind everybody we're at the Snowpalmy Casino and Hotel.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
I'm actually in Hawk's Peak. Quick little note.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
It's the new with the hotel being built, the new
additions here at Stollkaloma Casino and Hotel. It's right next
to the hotel entrance, next to the non smoking gaming floor.
But Hawk's Peak sixty seven television's in here and on
a Sunday you can guess what they're on in the morning.
All the ten o'clock games, and then at one o'clock
this Sunday, eighty and eighty five percent. I don't know
(23:34):
what that equals out to. We'll be on the Seahawks
and the Rams, a couple other games up there as well.
You're a sports wagering right here as well, all at
Stoklaloma Casino in Hotel Brand New hawks Peak if you're
coming up here. Kind of like the Mariners games, huge games,
we started to kind of get back to that mode.
We want to go out watch with other people. I
would just say get here early to Hawk's Peak on Sunday.
Danie O'Neil jointes right now, Hello sir, how are you goody?
Speaker 8 (23:57):
And I was really hoping you were going to try
to tell me what eighty five percent of the seventy
something screens that are there at snow call me Casino.
I wanted your radio map.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Not a chance, not a chance. We got it.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
We've got a we have a running joke on cracking
our Crack and Hockey network when we do pre and
intermition in post games, when Ian tries to do TV math,
and it's very similar to radio math, except for you
can see the visible frustration in my face because it's.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
A video medium. Uh, and so yeah, we're not doing that.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Shout out to my friend Alison Luken, who now apparently
has me making you know, doing a bad job at
radio TV math in her podcast open with a couple
other women called too many men.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
So yeah, fun times. I'm not doing math for you, Danny,
not a chance.
Speaker 8 (24:46):
Discretion. Discretion is the better part of Valerie.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
And I went to Wazuo.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
You know how we count six pack, twelve pack, the
underrated eighteen pack, and of course twenty four which used
to be twenty four lucky loggers or Heidelberg's. Thank you
very much, We move on. Okay, Debbie o'dehills with us.
Before I get to the big game this weekend, let's
talk about the other big game for doing Washington more.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
I'm I'm really nervous.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Well listen, man, I am wearing my boiler up produced
sweatshirt right now as we speak. And Jess knows she
can attest that I do have it.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
I do have one. My future son in law. I
think he's gonna be my future son in law.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
It sounds like us he's a boiler We're boiler basketball fans,
but this weekend, you know it's boiler football.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
No, I joke.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
More importantly, you wrote about about Jed Fish, and I
thought you had a great point. Listen, we all know
Jedfish is a vagabond and he's moved around a zillion times.
But let's also be honest, so do of most coaches
in college sports, right, that's kind of what guys do.
The whole story about his parents is his family not
being here. Listen, that's his business. If he wants to
(26:01):
say his daughter wants to graduate from the same high school,
so be it. Who are we to argue with that?
But he's not from here. There's been rumors even before
all this stuff came out that his wife didn't want
to be up here. And I'm looking outside right now.
Unless you're used to it, I can understand if you're
from the Sunshine why you wouldn't want to be here.
But some of the stories were a little goofy. The
aggregate stories that we live in this world now.
Speaker 8 (26:21):
Right, Yes, there is. It's taken on a life of
its own. Where on the internet now, I would say
the majority of the information that gets circulated is basically
repurposed the person who's writing it. In this story in
particular that was posted on Newsweek with the headline that
Jedfish wants to be out of here because his family
(26:43):
doesn't like it, that was written by someone who's not
talking to anyone. They're just repurposing other people's reporting, and
it's created a game of telephone where at each turn
there is a sort of sharper point or greater leap
that is being made in order to get attention, and
(27:06):
eventually you get to the point where, okay, this is
phrased in such a way that it is just way
out in front. You're over your skis. You're making a
conclusion or an assertion that is not supported by the evidence.
We know that Jedfish is someone who has moved jobs
very frequently. We know that he has a contract that
(27:30):
makes it possible for him to leave for one of
the jobs this cycle, if he were to get offered
a really good job. Boy, it sure seems like it's possible.
And nothing that has been said since Florida and CLA
came open has extinguished that. But that's about all we know.
And to go beyond that, I feel that you have
(27:51):
to have some concrete sort of reporting and I've always
had the opinion, and this is just my own personal policy,
is that if you're going to connect someone's family situation
to their employment in sports, if you're going to talk
about something, and I feel you have to talk to
that person to their face to do it, I just
(28:13):
I feel that that's the right way to do it,
because I don't want to say, hey, it should never
come into play, because I don't there are instances in
which somebody's future and their work is influenced by their
family life. But I think it's the decent thing to
do to give the person a chance to say, hey,
here's what's actually going on, and here's how I feel
(28:35):
about that. And the thing with Jed and his wife
having gone back to Tucson so their daughter can attend
the same school, Look, I have no reason to think
that that is anything other than a decision they're making
in his daughter's best interest. And it's not like any
of these jobs are back in Tucson. So I don't
(28:55):
know how much this has to do with the possibility
of him staying or leaving the University of Washington.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
Well said, Well said, Danny, And listen, I've I've moved
from Seattle to Try Cities, Try Cities to Salt Lake,
Salt Lake to Portland, Portland to Seattle. But being from
here originally kind of that did the full circle on
to get back here, But not once did I do
that without my wife being consulted and being on board,
Like I mean it just and now I also wasn't
(29:24):
making seven figures a year, certainly not in tri cities
but no, but you get the point. I think we
all do that, and you know, you have that kind
of financial wherewithal it's easy to fly back and forth,
have a second house, all those things. But yeah, I
think it'd be interesting to see how outworks out with
Jed in the hiring cycle because there just aren't very
many good candidates out there that have Power five experience
(29:45):
and have built programs. Florida is still rebuilt, so like
there's there's stuff that has to happen there. So we'll
see what happens. But his name, according to Mandell and
other guys we talked, do not really being tossed around.
We move on Danny to find a big game of
the NFL.
Speaker 8 (29:57):
For me, a big game with capital letters. A big
game is one where two teams vying for not just
the lead in their in their division or conference, but
for a championship positioning, and it's equally important to both teams,
Like there are Every team has a couple of big
games every year. Even if you don't have a very
(30:18):
good season, you've got a couple of big games where
you're like, this is going to influence the trajectory of us.
But a big game, big capital B capital G is
is one where it's equally important to both teams, and
we know both teams are good. Sunday is a big game.
Sunday is the Seahawks, and I think it's their biggest
game since they played the forty nine Ers for the
(30:40):
NFC West title at the end of twenty nineteen. That
game at Loomin Field where Marshawn Lynch was bad, but
then he wasn't on the field and they were with
the delay of game penalty and Jacob Hollister, but maybe
none of us he was God. I went and watched
that clip that.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Is so that.
Speaker 8 (30:58):
Was a crazy tap by Drake Greenlaw to keep him
out of the end zone.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
I think we all thought of the press was in
I think we all thought he was in rights.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
We all thought he was in.
Speaker 8 (31:09):
You look at the physics of it, and it sure
looked like he had the momentum and Greenlaw just stuck
him to keep him out, and it was by incious.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
Yeah, they end up traveling and won the first game
in Philly and lost the next one in Green Bay,
and then we got locked down for a year. That's
all I remember from that. Okay, what do you think
about the game on Sunday?
Speaker 8 (31:28):
I actually feel really good about about the seahawks chances,
and I think a lot of that comes to You've
got an opposing quarterback who's been playing really well, but
Seattle's been able to get an awful lot of pressure
without blitzing. And look where Stafford is in his career.
That's he's not someone who is going to be very mobile,
(31:49):
and he's someone that's going to be affected by getting pressured.
I have a really strong feeling about this. I do
think there's a little more pressure on the Rams in
this game than the Seahawks, being that it's in Los
Angeles and I know that they play again in four weeks,
but I just can't I feel like this is one
of those games where sort of the reverberations of whoever
(32:10):
loses this is going to affect their season. And I
think that the winner is going to end up. The
winner of this game I believe will win the division.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Yeah, oh, I think yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
It is interesting because it's the first of two meetings
with the teams, right, that's the one caveat. There's the
first of two, and the pressure should be on the
home team, right Yeah. Now I say that loosely because
that's really not a home field advantage like they're they're
at so far, but they don't play home games so far.
They play a lot of neutral syche games or now
(32:43):
the guys, the PA announcer screaming is part of the repertoire.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
But you know, I think it's true. I I think
you know what, you know.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
I hope Danny please let this be a good game,
like like like, let's hope this as is like what
we're all expecting and that's one of the classic NFL
games year.
Speaker 8 (33:01):
Do you know what I'm hoping for?
Speaker 1 (33:02):
You well, I am hoping a lot actually, But outside
of that, yes.
Speaker 8 (33:06):
That's what I would like to say. I would like
to see an old school legion of Boom lace up
the Timberland boots stomp a mud hole in the opposing
offense and walk it dry. One of those thirty four
to seven whoopings that.
Speaker 5 (33:20):
They put on New Orleans.
Speaker 8 (33:22):
Yeah on Monday Night football when Jim Harbaugh and the
San Francisco forty nine ers came in here and all
of a sudden left haven't given up forty two points?
Speaker 5 (33:31):
Like I hope.
Speaker 8 (33:31):
It's one of those old school sort of they meet
the ramts, think they're really good, and meet a defense
with true purpose, because there's there is nothing like a
defense going up against what is supposed to be a
really good offense and then just throttling them. It's like this,
this is your king. Don't you have anything else for me?
Speaker 2 (33:53):
Also good, so good indeed. Daniel Neil brought to you

Speaker 8 (34:13):
The dang apostrophe is a newsletter that is written out
of New York City, but it is focused on Seattle sports.
We say it's the best. It is the best Seattle
sports newsletter written in New York City. And now, after
our conversation earlier, I realized that I'm going to start
putting in tidbits about my family's happiness living here in
New York to see if I can stir up the
rumor mill and maybe get some big excited. I see
(34:35):
a potential career path here for me. So if you
want some salacious rumors, go ahead and put your email
addressed in at Danny O'Neil dot com, and I'll i'll
do my best to whip this thing into a ferber.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Unlike all those guys that jus do the aggregate stuff,
you're actually a true journalist from a former a Seattle
Times alum so to speak as well, back when that
paper was thriving and not just being held up by
the tempole that is one Ryan Divish who's not very tall. Also,
it's not being held very high. All right, We love you, Ryan.
Thanks Danny, I'll talk to you soon, buddy.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
Take care.
Speaker 8 (35:05):

Speaker 5 (36:34):
Well, Channis, dudes, the bitch does do in a nice

Speaker 1 (36:40):
Flies it down to Schwartz.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
Shorts does what we've been talking about, puts one hard
on de Coppo Cocko's up front gets a piece of it.
Speaker 9 (36:47):
This game tight.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
At one last night, Coppo Cocko got his first goal
of the year. That was the good news. You have
a good news. Cracking won the game fire three over Winnipeg,
last year's Presidents Trophy winner. The top team in the
NFL has two wins against that team this year in
the last three weeks. It's unbelievable. This team truly does
the Cracking play up and down to their competition.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
It's a quality.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Big win though for them, eighth one of the season,
eight four and five on the year, sitting at twenty points.
It's remarkable what they have done. I'm these guys are
just really a terrific story out of the seal crack
in this season. Bad news is you heard Copple Cockle.
They needed him to get going offensively. He did, and
eighteen seconds later in his next shift he did something
(37:28):
lower body left the game, did not return day to day,
so we'll wait and see what happens.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Yanni Newman waiting to wing. He was a healthy scratch
last night.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Probably you know, slots into the lineup tomorrow when they
play host of San Jose seven o'clock over run nine
to fifty on the AM dial. Big win last night,
but a bummer for Coppole Cockle along the way, So god,
this team just getting healthy. Man, If you get healthy,
I really want to see they could do. Philip Grubauer,
by the way, last night was really good.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
Good for him.
Speaker 5 (37:53):
I really enjoyed watching that.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
It was him.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
Yeah, yeah, he played well last night. I'm happy for
phil and so yeah, good win. Next up Sanjose AA
team that came here and just waxed Seattle a couple
of weeks ago, six to one. So little payback maybe
on the horizon for that game tomorrow on at cpagain
right here on KJR, also on the.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
Crack and Hockey Network.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
Yeah, I needed it was so good.
Speaker 5 (38:48):
Don't you go dying on me.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
I'm gonna tell you right now, it ain't an appetizer.
It's a meal.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
It's like a meal for two. It was phenomenal. Pizza
here is really good. By the way, Chuck had won
a couple of weeks ago. Over do our our baseball

Also ruled out for Sunday, Tory Horton, you want the
good news Ernest Jones full participation in practice today that,
(40:13):
in fact, the only one that's a little sketchy right
now would be Gray's abel limited participation with a heel.
Would expect him to play. He may end up being
listed as questionable. Everybody else is in. It appears this weekend,
including Josh Job. Good news for the Seahawks, cracking winners
last night against Winnipeg get home five to three the final.
Next up, they play host tomorrow to the San Jose

We've been telling you about this for a while. Really
cool deal for Eli's Pizza. Produ announce to launch their

connect the dots there. What they're asking you to do
right now is a guests are invited to drop off
new unwrapped toys or new coats to one of Forrelli's
twelve locations up until November twenty fourth. So if you
(42:06):
can do that, that'd be great for ellispizza dot com
for more information, of course, great pizza, but also great
in the community. Rob rang is with us. Hello, sir,
how are you.
Speaker 9 (42:15):
I'm doing very well, Ian. How are you, sir?
Speaker 2 (42:17):
I'm good, I'm good, all right. Normally we just go
heavy hard with Saturday games. We've actually got a couple
of games tonight worth discussing and players worth discussing as
far as a draft is concerned. So my friend, let's
just bang that out and do that right now. Let's
get to first four thirty coming up here, and what
of that? A two and a half hours or so Clemson, Man,
(42:37):
what a disappointing season there. I'm sure we're gonna talk
Kde Club Nick at number twenty Louisville. What are you
watching in this game?
Speaker 10 (42:45):
Well, actually, just about everybody other than Kate Club Nick
just because he has struggled as much as he has.
I mean, he still might be a draftabolek commodity at
this point. Ian, But I think that there are certainly
four players in this football game that, assuming that they
just side to come out early for the draft as expected,
they're all going to be drafted.
Speaker 9 (43:05):
Ahead of Clemson's quarterback.
Speaker 10 (43:07):
Three of them play for the Clemson Tigers, one for
Louisville Cardinals. Let's just start with the low hanging fruit
and that being the clear cut first round selection. That
is the defensive tackle Peter Woods, who talked a lot
about number eleven in the past. Six foot four, three
hundred and twenty pounder. His last name Peter Woods might
(43:27):
remind Seahawks fans of Al Woods, and they're as very
similar nature to their game. Just a big, strong man
that can really hold up very nicely in the running game.
There's an edge rusher TJ. Parker six foot three, tour
a sixty five pounder that has been incredibly productive in
prior years in in but he really.
Speaker 9 (43:47):
Has struggled this season.
Speaker 10 (43:48):
He only has a couple of sacks this year after
having nine a year ago, and so he is one
of those players who you know, I think you have
to kind of shed and shine the light on a
little bit as far as players who have bit disappointing.
But when you watch the tape, he is still showing
that initial burst and the power at the point of
attack the NFL teams highly regard, and so I still
(44:10):
think that he's got a chance to be a top
fifty selection. And then the cornerback Avion Terrell. He is
the younger, slightly smaller version of his brother A. J. Terrell,
who was a first round pick out of Clemson now
is a Pro Bowl caliber corner for the Atlanta Falcons.
Five eleven, one hundred and eighty five pounds, He's only
got three interceptions for his career, but he's got twice
(44:33):
that many forced fumbles, which just kind of gives you
an indication of how scrappy he is. A Seahawksy kind
of a cornerback. Cornerback obviously isn't a huge area of
concern for the club right now, but with Riek Wollen
a pending free agent, with Devin Witherspoon struggling a little
bit with durability, Josh job is a pending free agent,
(44:53):
also struggling a little bit with durability. Cornerback actually may
wind up being a position of concern.
Speaker 9 (44:58):
For the Seahawks.
Speaker 10 (44:59):
So again, Jon is still loaded with individual draft eligible talent,
and I think we got to talk about Louisville.
Speaker 9 (45:05):
For a moment.
Speaker 10 (45:06):
My favorite player is a wide receiver, Chris Bell, and
he's six foot two, he's two undred and twenty pounds.
Speaker 9 (45:12):
He is rocked up.
Speaker 10 (45:13):
Not quite to the level of a DK Metcalf, but
two hundred and twenty pound receiver as you're running the
four to fours are rare. He is still a little
bit of a work in progress as a route runner,
and sometimes the ball gets through his hands. But at
the same time, his physical traits are enough. I think
that he's got a chance to be a first second
round selection at absolute worst himself.
Speaker 2 (45:35):
Let me, I want to go back. I want to
just revisit Caide Club Nick for a second if I can.
Because start of the year, everyone's thinking, this guy's, you know,
not only a first round pick, but a high first
round pick, and all those things.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
What happened?
Speaker 2 (45:49):
What has gone wrong? Because talent sometimes, like a lot
of times, guys just don't have a great year. Other times,
Rob likes warts start to show right like all of
a sudden, it's like, oh man, we miss this, we
miss this. When you talk to scouts and when you're
watching him yourself, what do you see with Kate Klubnick, Well, I.
Speaker 10 (46:07):
Just see a guy that has been a little bit
of a you know, Frank, I think he's been a
little bit overrated, and I put myself out there as
somebody who did overrate him. He was in my very
first mock draft, and granted that was produced a day
after last year's draft, But at the same time, I
saw a quarterback who reminded me a little bit of
(46:28):
a Matt Hasselbacker, perhaps in a guy that doesn't have
an elite arm, but he's mobile enough, he is intelligent
enough to get by with not having an elite arm,
but it is a good leader and is willing to
throw enough anticipation to allow his receivers to make plays
that his arm doesn't necessarily produce himself. At the same time,
(46:52):
like Matt hassebec at times when he was at his worst,
and he'd be a little bit boastful and say that
we're gonna go win the game and things of that nature,
there were times where that lack of elite arm strength
did show up, and so that's what's been happening with
Kleb mcs so far this year, at least in my
opinioning is that he does kind of have a tendency.
Speaker 9 (47:10):
To stare down as primary receiver.
Speaker 10 (47:13):
He's not showing the same quick decision making and willingness
to go to secondary targets that sam Donold has done
such great success so far this season for the Seahawks.
So I just think that he is a little bit
has been overrated a little bit at this point, and
that he is a guy that, you know, maybe he's
(47:34):
played so much football for Clemson and and struggle at
times in so many big games that he's just kind
of lost a little bit of the shine that he
had on him.
Speaker 9 (47:42):
I'm always rooting.
Speaker 10 (47:43):
Three the young players like this, and so I'm hoping
that he can go to a senior All Star game,
whether it be the Senior Bowl, East West, Shrian Bowl,
something like that, and really kind of rescue with stock.
But there's no question about it. He entered this year
as one of the more highly tied quarterbacks in all
the entire country, and now he is. It is definitely
on the outside looking in when it comes to being
a top one hundred selection.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
That's as I look at the odds here, so collb
me Casino, that's expected to be a close game, Clubson
in Louisville and the Louisville rank number twenty in the country,
and outside shots still to get to the College Football
Playoff kind of outside shot, like a lot of teams
in the ACC A game that is a big spread.
Oregon's favored by twenty five plus twenty five and a half.
I think right now Minnesota playing at Oregon. Maybe a
(48:25):
guy that we also want to talk about plays that
quarterback position. Should we talk about Dante More? Is that
who you want to discuss?
Speaker 9 (48:32):
Yeah, there's a number of players.
Speaker 10 (48:33):
I mean, I actually have eight players that I think
are top one hundred candidates for the Oregon Ducks. I
just think that, to me two of the truly elite teams.
I know that that Oregon doesn't have the record that
would suggest that they should be a top five team,
but at the same time I think that they absolutely
should be. In terms of talent, They're right there in
my opinion with Ohio State, those are the two top
(48:55):
teams in my opinion in terms of NFL draft prospects,
as I mentioned eight, I think are going to be
top one hundred selections. Dante More the quarterback. As you
mentioned Ian, He's only a red shirt sophomore, but at
the same time, he shows all of the traits the
NFL teams are looking for in a possible franchise quarterback.
Speaker 9 (49:13):
If he were to come out early.
Speaker 10 (49:15):
I do believe he's gonna wind up being a top
ten selection, so of course maybe he should make that jump.
At the same time, I also think that he is
one of those boomer Bus guys.
Speaker 9 (49:24):
I mean, all he has is the eight.
Speaker 10 (49:27):
Or excuse mean, the nine games so far this season,
plus the five games he started as a freshman at UCLA.
I mean, there's the number of quarterbacks who have gone
on to be successful in the NFL eating with less
than twenty career starts is very, very small. So if
I was in a position to recommend him returning or
going to the NFL, I think that he actually should
return because we saw struggles this last week and that
(49:50):
narrow victory.
Speaker 9 (49:50):
Over the Iowa Hawkeys.
Speaker 10 (49:52):
I mean it was one of the reasons why I
kind of highlighted that game as being one the NFL
scouts are going to really go over the fine tooth
comb because he does struggle a little bit with decision making.
He does rely on his legs. But at the same time,
some of the throws and runs in which he makes
demonstrate the physical traits the teams are looking for to
(50:12):
be worthy of an early round.
Speaker 2 (50:14):
Gambled all right, So what else we watched in that game?
Speaker 10 (50:18):
I think that there's just a number of prospects again
for Oregon, but we talked about most of them. The
tight end Kenyon Sadikaz is one of my favorite players
this entire draft class. Number eighteen, six foot three to
forty pounder. To me, he's very much in the mold
of what we're seeing NFL teams look for as far as,
like you know, just guys that can make people miss
and make the plays on their own. Dylan Thieneman is
(50:44):
a free safety number thirty one that again is just
another ballhawk. He played it Perdue for a couple of years.
Was a really good player on a really bad team.
But at the same time, now that he's transferred to Oregon,
he's really is proving that he is every bit is
good as his Purdue highlights had demonstrated that.
Speaker 9 (51:04):
He would be.
Speaker 10 (51:05):
There's an awful lot of talent along that defensive line
for Organs. So whether it be the two edge rushers
number ten mattaio Ue Dellenle or number forty four Titum Tuyoto,
those are two power packed edge rushers in and they
have some bursts, but really their game is about power.
The two big guys in the middle, number fifty two
(51:27):
Amari Washington six foot three, three hundred and thirty pounder,
Number one, Bear Alexander six foot three, three hundred and
two pounder. And it's always crazy to me when you
see a guy who's six foot three, three hundred pounds,
he's wearing the jersey number one, he looks that much bigger,
especially if his name's Bear, you know. But at the
same time that this Oregon defensive line is again one
(51:47):
of the best positional groups in all of college football.
And so again I think the organ is just absolutely loaded,
and I would be remissed. And we're gonna talk about
this game. Minnesota has got a player that is interesting,
Anthony's He wears number zero, six foot five, two hundred
and eighty five pounds. He actually leads the big ten
with eight and a half sacks, and he is still
(52:09):
a little bit raw, but at the same time, this
is the guy that can put his hand in the
dirt and get up field. He also can be a
stand up edge rusher, and again at two hundred eighty
five pounds, he's a guy.
Speaker 9 (52:20):
That shows some kind of nimbleness to him.
Speaker 10 (52:22):
So more of a Day two, late second round, third
round kind of of a pick, not the first round
caliber player that his big ten leading eight and.
Speaker 9 (52:32):
A half sacks might suggest.
Speaker 10 (52:34):
But at the same time, he is a legitimately draftable player,
but at this point the only one that I see
on PJ Flex team, Whereas on the other side, Dan Lenning,
I think that his team is absolutely loaded.
Speaker 2 (52:45):
All right, Rob rang Joinans Chrusia Ferrelli's Saturday. We got
a bunch of games that have college football playoff implications,
and it starts early with number nine Notre Dame at
number twenty two Pittsburgh.
Speaker 10 (52:55):
I think this is actually my favorite game to watch
this weekend, whether it be Friday night games or Saturday.
I just really like this game in terms of the
individual matchups. So Notre Dame of course is loaded at
the running back position. We've talked about Jeremiah Love. He's,
you know, certainly a Heisman contender, but I also think
that Jaderian Price, the so called backup running back there.
(53:18):
He's a kick returner extraordinary. He's got a couple of
kick returns for touchdowns. He'd probably be a you know,
a first or second round caliber running back if he
was playing for just about any other team. And you know,
Notre Dame gets so much attention that I think he
still way wind up being drafted that early for the Irish.
So those two running backs are are a huge part
(53:39):
of Notre Dame's offense. But at the same time, Pittsburgh,
in my opinion, has perhaps the best linebacking corps in
all of college football. My favorite of the bunch is
Kyle Lewis, number nine. He's a little bit undersized six
foot one, two hundred and twenty pounds, but ian he
has closing speed like very few linebackers at the collegiate level.
Speaker 9 (54:00):
Well, he almost.
Speaker 10 (54:00):
Plays a little bit like a Nick emn Warriy Frankly, Now,
obviously Eman Warrey played the safety spot at South Caroline,
but the way the Seahawks are using him in the
box That's the way that I think the Kyle Lewis
could be very effective in the NFL, and he's certainly
is very effective for the Pittsburgh Panthers, So he's number
nine definitely one to.
Speaker 9 (54:21):
Keep an eye on.
Speaker 10 (54:22):
Braylan Loveliss, number zero, also plays that inside linebacker position
very similar size, is not quite as fast. Number three
Rahim Biles six foot one, two hundred and twenty pounds
basically the exact same size. These guys are not real
big at the linebacker position, but they flow to the
perimeter as well as any linebacking corps in all of
(54:43):
college football. So I do think that the Notre Dame
running attack is going to have more of a challenge
in this particular game than just about any game that
we've seen all year long. And if Notre Dame is
forced to pass the ball, then that could wind up
being a loss for Marcus Freeman in the fight and
I ers. So again, that's going to be a fascinating
one on one matchup. I shouldn't they certain one on one,
(55:04):
but a positional battle that could dictate who wins this
football game.
Speaker 2 (55:07):
It sounds like, as you're telling me, with that strength
of that linebacking core for Pittsburgh. You think Pittsburgh has
a chance to beat these.
Speaker 9 (55:13):
Guys, I do. I do.
Speaker 10 (55:15):
I think that's going to be much more of a
low scoring kind of a game that I think that
Pittsburgh has enough firepower on offense they might be able
to keep this game close. And then you know, pitts
has has a decent offensive line as well, and that's
one of the of the strengths for Notre Dame. They're
they're young on the line of scrimmage, both offensive and defensive,
and so I think that this is a game that
(55:37):
Pittsburgh wouldn't be surprised. It's a home game and their
number twenty two ranked team in the country for.
Speaker 9 (55:42):
A reason as well.
Speaker 10 (55:43):
I think they have enough firepower on defense to win,
to put off the upset.
Speaker 2 (55:48):
I want to jump ahead to twelve thirty. ABC's got
Oklahoma Alabama, speaking again, of which another game with CFP
playoff implications on the line. Oklahoma needs a win to
stay in They're going to Tuscal loose to take on
Kitlin to bors team, what are we watching in this game?
Speaker 9 (56:02):
Well, I think.
Speaker 10 (56:03):
Certainly the quarterbacks, you know, I mean, you continue to
be intrigued by John Matier, you know, and obviously wise
fans have their own kind of acts to grind against
him and understand that. But you know, Matier does have
some traits that are exciting. But I think much more
so for NFL perspective is the quarterback on the other side.
Speaker 9 (56:21):
Kaylen de Boor has.
Speaker 10 (56:22):
Just turned around ty Simpson and made him into one
of the most intriguing prospects at any position in potentially
in the twenty twenty six NFL Draft. He doesn't have
elite size, he's six p two, he's two hundred and
ten pounds. But in for all of the things that
gets you excited about saying Dante Moore, the quarterback we
talked about for Oregon before, with Tys Simpson, we're just
(56:44):
seeing the classic things that that scouts are looking for
at the quarterback position. We're seeing leadership, We're seeing accuracy, anticipation,
plenty of arm strength to make any NFL caliber throw,
the same thing that Kaylen de Boor showed when he
was the University of Washington, and all those beautiful deep passes,
those those long uh you know, in cutting routes, deep
(57:07):
posts and things that nature that just really translate very
well to the NFL. He's doing the same thing here
with ty Simpson. So really excited about the improvement that
ty Simpson has made. But at the same time, you know,
he is a red shirt junior. He's got another year
of eligibility should he want it. And again this is
his first year as a starter as well. So all
the reasons we've talked about before that might push d'ante
(57:28):
Moore back to Eugene, we might.
Speaker 9 (57:30):
See ty Simpson going back to Tescaloosen next year as well.
Speaker 1 (57:33):
Who else you watching this game?
Speaker 9 (57:35):
Well, again it's Alabama.
Speaker 10 (57:37):
You know, there's loaded about any team in the country.
Speaker 2 (57:41):
Ask about Kan Proctor. I've seen him slip in some
in some lists. Is he slipping the big left tackle?
Speaker 9 (57:47):
Well, that's the thing is he's so big.
Speaker 10 (57:48):
I mean he's listened to six foot seven, three hundred
and sixty pounds, And so the question is do you
think he can stay at the tackle position or should
he slide inside to guard?
Speaker 6 (57:56):
Uh?
Speaker 10 (57:57):
You know, I I think that he's athletic and not
that he could stay outside of tackle. You just have
to have an offense that is really going to suit him.
I think the wide zone system that the Seahawks use,
for example, you can get it by with him just
because you have a quarterback that's going to get the
ball out of his hands quickly enough, like Tysonson, like
Sam Darnold, you.
Speaker 9 (58:15):
Can get away with that.
Speaker 10 (58:16):
I just think that he could be a difference maker
at the guard position with with just his girth, his
athletic ability, and then his length. And this is the
guy who's going to likely have thirty five plus inch arms.
So to me, he is one of the most intriguing
NFL prospects along the offensive line. This is a solid
class of lineman. He might have the highest ceiling of
all of them. And that's why I think what's all said,
(58:37):
and then I'd be surprised if he's not a top
twenty selection.
Speaker 2 (58:40):
All right, before a run out of time, let me
jump all the way ahead for thirty Texas and Georgia.
Texas's ranked tenth in the country. Georgia is number five
in the country. Rob again, college football playoff implications. Georgia
more than likely is in no matter what. But Texas
cannot afford a loss. What are you watching? Who are
watching in this game?
Speaker 10 (58:57):
Well, again, you're always going to be you know, looking
at the quarterbacks, arch Manning certainly, you know, he's had
a nice little second half bounce back a little bit.
You know, he certainly has not lived up to all
the hype that was expected. I think you can make
the same argument with at the linebacker position. Anthony Hill Junior,
where's number zero, had previously been playing an edge rusher
(59:18):
and so he had a whole bunch of sacks and
get eight sacks a year ago, only has one so
far this year, but that's because they're asking him to
entirely different responsibilities, more of a traditional off ball linebacker.
But he still has very good size six three, two
hundred thirty five pounds, can run like a deer, and
he just has good instincts. Good football player that I
think is being a little bit blasted because of the
(59:40):
lack of success for the Longhorns as a whole, rather
than his own individual talent. So he's definitely somebody. Michael Taffy,
the free safety number sixteen, is a former walk on
at Texas, but his instincts in his size six foot
two hundred pounder, he is a guy that has made
some big plays for Longhorn over the last three years
(01:00:01):
as a starter there. We know the Longhorns have a
great track record of producing the NFL caliber defensive back,
so he is somebody where at number sixteen. Again, that
should be very much on the in the radar of scouts.
And then on the bulldog side. Look, we've talked before
about their linebacker CJ. Allen, number three, Kristin Miller, the
big defensive tackle number fifty two, one of my favorite
(01:00:23):
players in this draft, gud just because he has the
size and physicality six for four, three hundred and fifteen pounds,
he's a true run stuffer in the inside. We have
not talked about the USC transfer wide receiver number one,
zachar RYA Brandt and eighty pounds, and it's been a
while since we've seen one of these smaller but very
(01:00:43):
very explosive, quick and fast kind of guys at the
wide receiver position for Georgia. I think that he might
be somebody who has a splashy performance in this particular game.
Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
All Right, I would be remiss. You work with our
good friend Corbin Smith do a lot of Seahawk coverage
as well, not just draft with us. But there's a
quick thought from you on LA and Seattle. The biggest
regular season game we've had here in a while on Sunday.
Speaker 10 (01:01:06):
I mean, my goodness, they're just, you know, mirror images
of each other when we break it down as far
as how they operate. You know, obviously the receiver talent
on both sides, the focus on the offensive and defensive lines,
and then just the MVP caliber play at the quarterback positions.
You know, to me, the most interesting matchup here is
(01:01:27):
Seattle's receivers against the Rams cornerbacks. You know, I'm fortunate
that as a scout with the DC Lions, I'm able
to go to different NFL training camps. I've been to
the La Rams training camp each of the last three years.
The fact that they have had a little bit of
a rotation at the cornerback spot. They made a trade,
of course, the Seahawks made a trade for Rashi chah Head.
Speaker 9 (01:01:48):
The Rams made a move as well.
Speaker 10 (01:01:50):
They trade for former first round pick Roger McCreary at
the cornerback spot, and yet he has not seen the
field for them at cornerback over these last couple of weeks,
strictly on special teams. I wonder if Sean McVay is
kind of keeping McCreary around just to kind of surprise
the Seahawks, so to speak, in this particular game, because
he does have the physicality and speed to be able
(01:02:13):
to run with some of Seattle's most explosive receivers like
a Rashiit Shahit or like Tory Horton if he is
in fact back on the field for the Seahawks. I
think that the offensive and defensive squads for both these
clubs basically mirror each other again their match special teams, however,
is one area in which I think the Seahawks do
have a significant advantage of We saw the two defensive
(01:02:34):
touchdowns by DeMarcus Lawrence. We could go as well as
obviously the eighty five yard excuse me, ninety five yard
punt return for a touchdown by Tory Horton. That's three
non offensive scores for the Seahawks.
Speaker 9 (01:02:48):
The Rams don't have any.
Speaker 10 (01:02:49):
I think that the special teams and big playability on
defense could be designing factor. I do think that the
Seahawks have a very much of a chance to win
this football game. That's said, at the beginning of the year,
I had to see actual going thirteen and four and
losing both games. To the Rams, and the Rams are
playing every bit as good as I expected to me.
This is gonna be one of those games you can
get your popcorn ready if you want. You can also
(01:03:10):
bite your fingernails down to the nubs. I think this
is gonna be one of those classic NFC West battles
that's going to be dictated at the.
Speaker 9 (01:03:17):
Very very end of the game.
Speaker 10 (01:03:18):
And again I do like to see how special teams
advantage because they've got veteran at the kicker position rather
than a guy like the Rams have.
Speaker 9 (01:03:26):
Who's never made an NFL field goal in his life.
Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Loving awesome stuff as always, Rob raang Fox sports dot com.
He can find his work there and of course big
thanks to Farelli's Pizza as well. And we will check
in with you next week and have a little more
clear picture after all these games.
Speaker 9 (01:03:40):
Thank you, sir, Looking forward to as always, Buddy, take care.
Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
Of that's Rob Brian. We'll take a break. We got

agree with what I give you or any of the
(01:04:39):
other hosts or producers give you, you text fact disagree
Fiction four nine four to five one.
Speaker 1 (01:04:44):
That's simple. Here's my pick. Oops a second O Sunday
Night Football. Surprised no one's had this shit.
Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
I'm this is just for my own entertainment purposes because
I'm watching Sundaynight football.
Speaker 1 (01:04:56):
Give me something to root for.
Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
I'll go Detroit plus two and a half at Philadelphia
fact for likely giving any reasons, don't really care. That's
just going to go in Detroit plus do a half.
Philadelphia's they looked awful against Green Bay to be honest
with you, that's part of it.
Speaker 5 (01:05:08):
That was not their best.
Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
They looked awful. Green Bay was worse awful, but they
both looked awful anyway. Detroit plus two and a half
at Philadelphia Fact four nine four to five one.
Speaker 1 (01:05:18):
Text in right now, Factor Fiction brought to you by
the Lucky EG Casino.
Speaker 2 (01:05:21):
Want to tell should point out real quick when you
text in, and they've been doing this all year, you
are used to getting a bounce back we call it,
and it'll say something along the lines of thank you
for your pick of fiction in parentheses, because you know
Ian's not good at this game this year. Thanks for
your pick of fiction to four nine four to five
one for our Factive fiction contest. Next opportunity to pick
(01:05:44):
would be at three thirty five with Richard Elphane and
David Mahler. You will not get that back today. We
have a little bit of a little issue going on
with the machine. But rest assured if you text fact
or fiction and you spell it correctly, your vote is
being counted.
Speaker 5 (01:06:02):
Within our window.
Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
Yes, so starting times is this?
Speaker 1 (01:06:05):
Yeah, so so just text in right now. This is
the day. You could actually text twice just in case,
just to make.
Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
Sure, yeah, because you hit the window. Yes, because sometimes
the window it's just not an exact science people, it
really isn't. And I saw people texting in a few
minutes ago at U, I said, some people are texting
it in the one o'clock.
Speaker 1 (01:06:25):
Out, Yeah, exactly thirty five.
Speaker 6 (01:06:27):
That doesn't let's remind him of the windows.
Speaker 2 (01:06:30):
Someone texts Rick Cochran Corcoran, if you text it, I
see your text. It did not get counted. So text again.
And I do appreciate the fact, Rick, thank you. I
appreciate the support. All right, huh, thank you, thank thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:06:43):
Factor fiction brought to you by again Lucky. Text in
Factor fiction four nine four five one four nine four
one text in right now, okay, simple, easy, perfect, thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:06:52):
But you will not get a bounce back.
Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
So sometimes when you text in fact or fiction and
you just do it twice, then like it says, you
can't do that, and I'll get another bounce back.
Speaker 1 (01:07:01):
But just never know yourself. I blame Anders. He's not
here today. Can I blame Anders? Is that cool?
Speaker 5 (01:07:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:07:08):
That is correct.
Speaker 6 (01:07:08):
He is off today, So I think that's where the
blame could lie.
Speaker 1 (01:07:13):
Or Jackson, who's sick again, all.
Speaker 6 (01:07:15):
Can't blame him sick, No, he'll get mad. He was,
he's really sick. He's dealing with uh. I saw him
on Wednesday, and then I got really uh worried that
I would get a cough because I have my torn
peck and everything.
Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
So was he was he coughing and hacking around people?
Was he pulling? Did he pull it? Did he pull
the grass?
Speaker 6 (01:07:37):
Was he was not feeling great? He had a he
had a cough and a lot of nasal stuff going on.
Speaker 1 (01:07:46):
Mhmm.
Speaker 9 (01:07:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:07:47):
I just didn't want to get a call a cough
because you know, it hurts a lot for me to
even breathe right now, so a cough is excruciating.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
By the way, words that don't work for factor fiction
far doesn't work.
Speaker 1 (01:08:01):
I think FA does.
Speaker 6 (01:08:02):
People that do the farts are like trying to make
us laugh.
Speaker 1 (01:08:06):
I don't know. I've well you did that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
You know what, anytime someone takes fart it makes me
I'm gonna I'll be first. I'll be the first guy
to laugh. I'm laughing right now. I saw a couple
of them.
Speaker 1 (01:08:16):
FA. That doesn't work either. No, that doesn't work.
Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
You gotta include the c and the t or RT
just to make me laugh with fart. So four nine
four to five one. That is the That is a text.
Big thanks today before we get to Softy here in

Speaker 2 (01:09:35):
All right, wrap things up here, so me Casino, Hotel,
thefty bowler standing by.
Speaker 1 (01:09:39):
I want to know one thing, and one thing only, sir.
Speaker 5 (01:09:41):
Nope, not telling you Nope. Okay, nope, not gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:09:44):
Give it up.
Speaker 5 (01:09:45):
Well, give it up.
Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
Ask soft if he's going down to LA this week.
Speaker 9 (01:09:48):
Nope.
Speaker 5 (01:09:48):
I won't answer her either.
Speaker 1 (01:09:50):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (01:09:51):
He doesn't like to even look me in the I
don't want.
Speaker 11 (01:09:53):
You people to know what I'm doing in my private life,
okay at all?
Speaker 5 (01:09:56):
And trust me, you don't.
Speaker 1 (01:09:57):
Want to know either. I know. Well that's probably true.
Speaker 5 (01:10:00):
I'm not going to LA, decided to stay home.
Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
So yeah, but I wanted I wanted you to go
for no other reason because you hadn't been there.
Speaker 5 (01:10:09):
You haven't been a so far right Nope, never been
to a sofi stadium.
Speaker 2 (01:10:12):
I wanted you to go with for no other reason too.
I wanted to hear your reaction on Monday. Yeah, in
person to the world's worst PA announced.
Speaker 11 (01:10:22):
Oh, I've heard that. Is it the same guy that
does USC? I think it's the same dude. If it's
the same dude that does USC, I've heard the guy.
Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
It's it's the most of not I'll say this, It
wasn't the guy that did as far as I know,
at least he was a different style. Wasn't the guy
that did the games when the Rams were in the coliseum, right,
This guy's like a DJ turned PA announcer.
Speaker 11 (01:10:43):
Oh yeah, Now, we were down at USC two years
ago for Pennex versus Williams and he was there that
night and guy was obnoxious.
Speaker 2 (01:10:52):
It's just ridiculous, Like it's I've never and you know,
the odd thing is the Chargers they don't have that
guy right like the Charger place straight Now, the Chargers
have other issues in the fact that they have like
thirty fans and everybody else is a visiting fan.
Speaker 1 (01:11:05):
But no, that I was.
Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
Just thinking, God, there's no way soft you'll be able
to handle this guy. Not because you're indoors. It's even
worse to see at least doors, right, you're indoors in
LA and this guy is screaming actual.
Speaker 5 (01:11:18):
Well do people want to hear that?
Speaker 3 (01:11:20):
Like?
Speaker 11 (01:11:20):
Is that something the fans want down there? I mean,
I don't know, maybe they do. Maybe it's become so
obnoxious and maybe it bothers the opposing fan bases and
media so much that now It's just kind of become
their thing, right, Like the Kingdom was a dump, right,
but it was our dump. Russell Wilson was a goober,
but he was our goober. Something like remember the old
(01:11:45):
er chant back in the day. I mean, somebody would
show up from like Boston, New York whatever and say, well,
you know that sounds like.
Speaker 5 (01:11:51):
A cat call. No, that's the way we do it here.
I'd say, that's our thing.
Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
Man a PA announcer. There's two guys and football p
announcers that I think are the best ever.
Speaker 1 (01:12:01):
One is the might I don't want to mess his
name up. Is that Luke Gellerman.
Speaker 5 (01:12:05):
Louke Gellman. Yeah he passed away, right, Yeah, he did
my wedding by the way.
Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
Oh that's right, he didn't he yeah, you know, it
just it was he was so sust you know. That's
humil and throwing de Mark Pattison thirteen yard gain, first down.
Speaker 9 (01:12:19):
Watch.
Speaker 1 (01:12:19):
It's just perfect.
Speaker 11 (01:12:20):
It just kind of this and they still do a
little Hello dog fan at Husky Stadium.
Speaker 2 (01:12:25):
Understated and perfect and that was part of it. It's
part of my childhood growing up, right, And but him
and then I think Glenn Johnson and Pullman is phenomenal too,
and that's all I need.
Speaker 1 (01:12:35):
Just give me, you know, boom boom boom, boom boom,
a familiar voice.
Speaker 2 (01:12:39):
I don't need a guy screaming at me telling me
to get on my feet for third down.
Speaker 11 (01:12:42):
Like, well here's the thing though, man, uh, that's not
that's what you need. But you're old and I'm old, right,
I mean, I don't want to go to a football
game and have like a WWE match breakout, right, It's
not what I'm looking for. Yeah, And it sounds like
the guy us see. I don't know if it's the
guy Sam Lagana I think is the RAMS guy, and
I don't know if he's the guy that does the
(01:13:04):
same thing at USC, but if he's not, then they're
very very similar, which is with noxious as hell.
Speaker 2 (01:13:11):
I disagree with Petros. I think is pretty cool, like
the stadium itself. Like he called, what do you say
to you?
Speaker 1 (01:13:17):
The other day? He said something like it's just kind
of on whatever.
Speaker 11 (01:13:18):
He right, Well, but you got to understand Petros doesn't
like people at all. It's like being around people, all right,
It's like talking to people. It doesn't like people breathing
on him any place. That's got like more people than
he would typically have inside of his house, which is
his wife and two kids. He's he's not a fan
(01:13:40):
of it all.
Speaker 5 (01:13:40):
Yeah, yeah, yeah he is.
Speaker 11 (01:13:42):
He is the most anti social person you've ever met
in your life.
Speaker 5 (01:13:46):
Well, this thing on Sunday, I'm fired up for it, man.
Speaker 11 (01:13:49):
I was telling Dick, we're talking about this today that
this is Isn't this kind of the reason why you
hire Mike McDonald for games like this, to figure out
a way to get to McVeigh and that offense.
Speaker 2 (01:13:59):
Because to get to have this game, you've got to
get to that game.
Speaker 1 (01:14:02):
Absolutely, this guy has done in hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (01:14:05):
He's come to this point and I just I mean,
I'm just thinking we've all talked about the big games,
when was the last one and all that. This is
why you're a sports fan to enjoy games like this,
not even a playoff game, just to enjoy a game
like this. I mean, I can't wait to sit down
with my kid on Sunday. Oh yeah yeah, put the
feet up and.
Speaker 11 (01:14:20):
Let's well, they haven't been they haven't been nine has
seven and two since twenty nineteen, and it's only the
second time they've done it since they won the title,
by the way, So this is not this is kind
of rare. As good as I mean you think of
the Hawks, they've been overall pretty good, right, you know,
for the last you know, fifteen years or so. And
this is just the second time this has happened since
Old p D hoisted the Lombardi in New Jersey with
(01:14:42):
John Schneider. So soak it up, man, because it could
all come crashing down.
Speaker 1 (01:14:47):
Oh, don't think.
Speaker 5 (01:14:49):
Final Rams forty eight Hawks three. Why are you a doubt?
Speaker 6 (01:14:52):
Like a doubt cloud walk into the dark doubt.
Speaker 1 (01:14:56):
Yeah, make sure you're paying attention to I.
Speaker 11 (01:14:58):
I just want to keep a real like Cuba Gooding's
brother and Jerry Maguire remember that, Remember that, dude.
Speaker 5 (01:15:05):
I'm just keeping it real.
Speaker 2 (01:15:07):
Just keeping it real. I'd like forty eight to three
days either the way around. How about another thirty point
first half.
Speaker 1 (01:15:12):
That'd be nice.
Speaker 5 (01:15:13):
That'd be nice.
Speaker 11 (01:15:15):
Just make it easy on us, right, maybe it will
be a nice day. Go ahead and get a few
holes in. What the hell take off? You know, leave
it at halftime. It's thirty three to seven.
Speaker 1 (01:15:23):
Whatever.
Speaker 2 (01:15:23):
Man, I'm looking outside right now, and I usually you
can see at least part of the still Qualmie Valley. Hmm,
I see a tree about thirty yards O oh yeah, nothing,
but now.
Speaker 5 (01:15:31):
The visibility is in the toilet.
Speaker 11 (01:15:33):
I mean, I'm I'm driving up here today and I'm
getting my little Google map thing going on, and they
do the you know, police nearby, and you can click
on and if they're close or not or whatever, and
then the warning comes up low visibility yes or no.
I'm like, yeah, I'm looking through my windshield. Man, do
people really need to see that on their map whether
(01:15:54):
or not there's low visibility?
Speaker 5 (01:15:56):
How about looking through your windshield and you can tell
and should.
Speaker 1 (01:15:59):
You be looking, you get your map when it's a
little visibility would be the next.
Speaker 5 (01:16:02):
It's kind of right in front of your face. So
you know what, okay, all.
Speaker 1 (01:16:05):
Right, what do you got coming up to?
Speaker 5 (01:16:06):
Let's see a least sterling. Our handicapper will join us.
Speaker 11 (01:16:08):
Lindsay Theory, you know her covers the rams for ESP
and the former rally fry girl from the Mariners.
Speaker 5 (01:16:13):
She'll join us.
Speaker 11 (01:16:14):
Well for she really has you know, she's got a
kid now and all that too, so two kids. Yeah,
she'll join us at four o'clock and then Hugh Milling
at five o'clock tonight. I'm gonna hear a little bit
from Rick Neuheisel as well. Lots to get to as
we continue to get ready for a huge Seahawk game
on Sunday in LA. And we'll talk Perdue when you
dub as well a little bit and the and the
(01:16:37):
Apple Cup of basketball tonight, which I know you're fired
up for.
Speaker 1 (01:16:39):
I'm really fired up. I got my produced what shirt
on today.
Speaker 5 (01:16:42):
See that's just dumb because they stick, It's like not
even fun.
Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
I'm actually wearing it as as a tribute to what
happened last night in Tuscaloosis.
Speaker 5 (01:16:51):
Okay, there you go. Well, your wife's a big Bama fan, right.
Speaker 1 (01:16:54):
Yeah, but she but our future son in law is
a Purdue grad. So we're all we're really right now.
Speaker 11 (01:16:58):
Okay, Well they've lost six team consecutive Big Ten games.
By the way, Yeah, by the way, you know who
the backup quarterback for the Rams is, don't you?
Speaker 8 (01:17:09):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
No? Should I right now?
Speaker 11 (01:17:11):
Jimmy g pot Star, Jimmy mister Garoppolo about that?
Speaker 1 (01:17:16):
Hey, your thing works perfect?
Speaker 11 (01:17:17):
Would you rather see him than Matt Stafford tomorrow or
on Sunday?
Speaker 2 (01:17:21):
I would like are you saying like maybe someone should
go low is out here.
Speaker 11 (01:17:25):
No, I'm just saying that if they somehow he woke
up and he had a little cricketer's neck or whatever,
you can't play.
Speaker 5 (01:17:30):
Oh that sucks. I wanted to play the Rams at
their best.
Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
Why well, there goes a Mattress endorsement does exactly exactly
a weekend
Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
For the mild mannered and marginally objectionably in For Neess,
this is paddle day, saying so long everyone,
