Everly's in this fourth season with the team, first as
a captain also but has been assince November after undergoing
pelvic surgery on a freak collision into the nd boards
against Chicago. They're seventeen games though, said one of the
best starts here for his career six goals, five assists
for eleven points as well. So maybe the next step
here for really crossing that box office. He goes to
(01:02):
the AHL for a conditioning stint. Official word here. The
New York Jets partying ways here with quarterback Aaron Rodgers
after nearly two years. A joy statement released here from
the team saying that they met last week with Rogers
and quote shared that our intention was to move in
a different direction at quarterback end quote. Let's just say

funniest thing ever if you follow the bread farev timeline here.
Free agent Alex Bregman new home after agreeing to a
three year, one hundred and twenty million dollars deal with
the Boston Red Sox. The forty million dollar annual salary
is more than ten million a year than others were offering,
(01:46):
Sources saying the deal includes two opt outs in yes,
the favorite D word here deferred.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Money and take some deferred money right now.
Speaker 2 (01:56):

through something right now.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
I think, yeah, well whatever, I'm fine. But I do
believe that this is more of a reward than.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Ah, thank you, thank you. I just try to use
self deprecating humor as much as possible.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
I know it's funny.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
I laugh, but I'm also empathetic, so I don't like it,
but I'll laugh.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
I don't like being sick. I know that you're getting
through something. You were cramming down the soup here earlier.
Speaker 3 (02:58):

Speaker 3 (03:55):
That's what you get.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Your word is money. We can always use a little
bit more money here that right now. Good lord, it
is cold outside, isn't it. Literally yes, we're supposed to
be into the spring training thing now. Pictures and catchers
are there. Chuck and Buck in Peoria after this week,
Bucky get well, by the way. I know Chuck is
on his way down there. I don't want them to

want them to bring back warm vibes here.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
At this point, I just want the cleats and the
cracks of the bat and.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
You know, it's just gonna make me feel warmer. Yes,
it's so cold outside and I can't remember the last
time it was this cold, Jess. I remember when we
had snow like this. And trust me, you live up right,
livings in Homish County, and you're not too far away.
It's still there right now on my front yard. It
has not melted. And we're gonna get more, maybe, I
(04:46):
think tonight.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Yeah, that's what our boss was telling us earlier. Mark
Glinton was saying that I hear we get more, and
I just I don't know.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
I blazed over the weather in the last week.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
And actually, not too far away. She's still got small
shoes up there too. On our turf right now. It
feels like Edmonton with a naval station. Where I'm at
right now. You probably gave that away there, Everett, Washington,
where I commute from. You're washed Johnny Carson back when
he was in his heyday, I did not, and he
had the know. I know many of you are not
old enough here. I'm not that old, but I remember
(05:18):
when he retired and I watched his last show, like
I think it was in nineteen ninety two or something.
But you know he had the the fun straightforward in
your face Karnak humor. You know, how hot is it?
How cold is it? Humor? But it just kind of
reminded me here of some of his old it's so
cold jokes. I like it, like you want to get
(05:40):
ready here. It's so cold that even the ATM shows
minus oh.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Does it in these days?
Speaker 2 (05:47):
It's so cold. You could warm me up here with
the Mariners offense. Oh four nine four five one? What
do you feel? It's so cold? A fridge is redundant.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
I have been leaving some soup outside on the porch.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
I got more here. I'm so cold at the postal service,
they're on watcher for polar bears. It's so cold that
Mark and Chris Kidd couldn't even get into a heated argument.
And it's so cold that I could actually feel like
listening to Softy. That's how desperate I am for some
hot air. I'm out of here having a good day.
(06:19):
It's Softy. We love you, we love you, we love you.
I kid because I care.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Do not leave me with another two hours.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
I care for your health. I also kid because I care,
Softy love you here a lot to get to coming
up out of Okaal for the NHL on ESPN, Oh,
did you love last night's game if you had a
chance to watch it? Canada versus Sweden? Give me more?
Do we want overtime in the NHL to go to
ten minutes like they had last night? It's only five
(06:46):
in the NHL, but they give us ten now in
the four Nations face off? Is USA Hockey really the
favorite in this tournament? And plus also a view on
the Kraken from about roughly a week and a half
left out here until they get back to play, which
in the trade deadline is right around the corner. Also
more on this one forty five Daily Power Play. Jordan Eberley,
(07:07):
as we hinted at earlier, going to AHL Coachella Valley
when he comes back. This will make for some interesting
roster decisions that'll wait. But I'm going to get also
to why he's there and will he play or will
he not play? It's not like a typical You're sending
JP Crawford down to Triple A Tacoma and have him
(07:28):
work back out on a rehab stant Corbyn Smith also
awaiting at two o'clock what do the Seahawks do with
a DK Metcalf trade. Maybe things that make you go, hm,
I'm asto curious here how long he thinks that Gino
Smith is starting here in this town. The offensive line,
we talked a lot about this, plus also your text,
and also and more that comes here with it. So
(07:50):
I got three things to touch on before we get
to our first break. First off the Seahawks and DK
the Mariners, then again missing out on another big bat,
and then last night's Four Nations face off opener again
if you missed it, oh boy, did you miss a
good one. So on the DK Metcalf thing, I know
that Jesse got Mike holme grin queued up and you
(08:11):
had a great, great chat with him yesterday and I
loved it too as well. And we're gonna get Corbin
Smith on very very soon. But yesterday we had the
one and only Mike Holmgren on I think the part
of the Grand Pooba of coaching Mount Rushmore here in Seattle,
who should be in the Hall of Fame by now.
And he had more on the Seahawks trade, and we're
(08:32):
gonna cue this up right now, and what more or
the Seahawks future, and what more do you want here
with Gino Smith?
Speaker 5 (08:38):
Yeah, it brings up a couple of things. If first
of all, I think Gino, I will hope they keep him.
I think they should keep him because to your point, Jess,
you know who else if you don't keep him, who's
gonna play?
Speaker 6 (08:52):
You know? Really?
Speaker 5 (08:53):
And nothing nothing comes out like you're getting a big
advantage if you don't do that. But the second thing
is the money. You know there they're gonna be Both
sides would be thinking about that. But it seems to
me the way Mike is connected with Gino and everyone,
if you try real hard and talk to Geno, let
(09:14):
him know we really want you, but we're gonna have
to just change a couple of things so that we
can build a team around you.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
So here's the one thing about the Seahawks future. And
I said it before Tuesday and I'll say it again.
Gino's the guy. Now, Let's not mistake that for him
being the guy for five to ten years. This is
different from a Dak Prescott situation in Dallas. This is different,
i'd argue here from Rock Purty in San Francisco, much
(09:43):
much different here than Patrick Mahomes in say, Kansas City.
I mean short term, this is what you got to
roll with here. I mean, maybe suck it up for
one to two years at least. I mean you hear
a little bit more and more that maybe an extension
could be on the table here for Geno Smith debatable
here for nine four five one. This is to me
Gino though, putting himself in position to bet on himself
(10:07):
and the fact he waited his turn behind Russ. I
know Gino's getting older, he's thirty four, okay, fine, Still
though from the eye test thing, He's got this internal
thing just that's made him special waiting for so long
here to take this job, and now he's not working
(10:27):
to take the number one job, but to avoid being
knocked out by the next guy who is number one.
So maybe I'm getting a bit long winded here, but
I mean I truly see a bigger picture where Gino
Smith gets the bag and DK Metcalt does not.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
Yeah, I could look at it that way too, especially
just the differentiation between their trade value if that was it.
And I think it really comes down to a lot
of who wants to stay the most, because I think
Gino's at the point of his career where he got
more money than he ever got in his previous life.
(11:06):
Here with Seattle right, and DK is still extremely young.
I don't want to see either one of them go.
I think trading DK is not the right choice. However,
whoever gets the bag, I would say that Gino in
the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Slot, so you see get it and here's and here's
where I'm at. Because the Seahawks have their coaching staff
in place. You just heard Mike Holmgren talk more about this.
They have an OC who apparently speaks his language and
he wanted to come in here and coach him, which
is one of the biggest priorities in taking this job
here for Quint Kubiak, and I truly believe this is
(11:43):
more than lift service number two. He's been working for
long term security. The Seahawks get cap relief, but lowering
his twenty twenty five yards has something to think about.
So you get a win win there, and finally, who
else do you have out there for an upgrade this offseason?
I mean, I like Mike Holmgren's words and how much
you plan as well for the future. He talked about
(12:04):
this earlier yesterday. That's a healthy way here. To do it,
but this is still a succession plan that is still
years and years away, because we all know you want,
you know, and I've used this before in the NHL sense,
an aircraft carrier for a quarterback, a guy like Russ,
a guy like Mahomes, but you got to go out
there and draft them, and that still is a succession
(12:25):
plan that years away.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
Here, Yeah, I do agree with a lot of pundits
and people out there that are cautioning against drafting a
quarterback very high in this draft. But I yes, Russell
Wilson is a unicorn. But John Schneiner has proven that
he can find elite talent in later rounds and not
just at the quarterback position. However, that is a gamble
(12:49):
and you can't depend on it, so you need stability,
and that's why I agree with Holmgren in keeping Genome.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
So then I look at this here from the DK sense,
and you said you don't like trading him. To me,
the game changes here. And if anyone wants to go ahead,
Luke and look up of this on Google, some of
the top receivers just inside the top fifteen that's based
on yardage. Tell me then, how old was the oldest
out of that entire group. Out of the top fifteen,
(13:19):
the age is twenty five years old. How old is
DK Metcalf twenty seven? So you're looking at an extension
that will start paying DK Metcalf if you want to
do that when he's thirty years old. And we know
how players at this position age. Look at Cooper Cup
and with the Rams thought of him at twenty nine,
(13:39):
I mean, boom, he's in the trade block. Look at
Deebo Samuel and what San Francisco thought of what he
is at twenty nine. Boom, he's on the trade block.
So I'm not gonna lie. DK's built like a six
foot four Megatron. They don't build receivers like him. He's
all pro. The resumes right.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
There, and last year didn't do him any famous just
because of the way the offense operated.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
So the way I see this is that you have
to you have to think for the future, and if
he plays out the final year of his deal, you
get ten million in cap savings here by trading or
releasing him versus the cost here to replace him. That's
one thing, But if you want to extend him, that's
that's a lot of coin going into an aging receiver
(14:21):
in his thirties. So again you you go ahead and
tell me four nine, four or five to one. You know,
what do you want out of the dk metcap situation.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
And I would just like to add to that those
of you playing the cash contest, that is my fault.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
I gave you the wrong.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
Word hours one hour behind and maybe because I was
looking at twelve to three, because we just stressed back
so that this uh, this word, this hour's word, let
me one hundred percent check it. I'm glad whoever texted
in to let me know it's bank. It is a
bank for the one o'clock hour, so bank.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Go ahead and enter it right now ninety three three
kg air dot com. This hour's word is bank.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
I was a little back myself there.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
Thank you very much, and I do apologize to those
out there, but yes, and I can let people know
if they weren't listening when you announced the correct word
I gave you, which was wrong on my end. The
cash contest is the thousand dollars power play. You can
listen every weekday, every hour and then you go when
you hear the word, which is bank, enter it at
(15:22):
nine to three to three KJR.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Dot com.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Some people say the best things in the life aren't free.
Will you just got a free mulligan right there from
jesssemin No.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
I got the free mulligan from you because I was
the one that messed up.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Yeah, you're good, You're good.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Thank you for that.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
So the Mariners lose that on another bat again, and
Alex Bragman goes to the Red Sox and depending upon
where you looked at this, if he was going to
be a fit or not, fine, But I mean, we're
gonna go through the same song and dance over and
over again. This is clockwork. You want to Alex bragmant up. Sorry,
he's now part of the Boston Red Sox. And we
(15:55):
all know where we stand on this here with the
Mariners and their offense. This is not going to be
another carbon copy rant against ownership. Jerry Depoto, We've we've
been down this road over and over and over again.
Now you can say what you want to say, four
nine four five one, but I'm gonna skip past because
there's hundreds and hundreds of hours podcasted here on this
(16:19):
topic on why the Mariners jump their shark. Looking at
this offseason here with the holes in their offense that
resemble a ski ball game at Chuck e Cheese. What
kind of quality bat are you adding that will shore
up offensive needs? And I want to be fair here.
We had Rick Rizon, who I love to death. We
had him on here two days ago. I mean, heck,
(16:41):
I look up to him, and I want to see
this baseball team get better again with this all roll
pitching staff, because again they're good enough to mess around
and get into the World Series. But after ranking lowest
of low in strikeouts at highest of highs in this
town's anger management courses. I mean, what the ownership has
(17:02):
told us here is that we're better off with that
Jan Soto. We're better off without Kyle Tucker, two years ago,
without sho heey Otani, without Pete Alonzo, and now without
Alex Bregman. So you can say he's got a game
that may not fit this ballpark. Fine, I mean you
(17:23):
can say he's got issues with the clubhouse because he's
an astro in bold quotations astro. He's gone to the
Red Sox now though for a three year deal, and
all of a sudden, everyone around the New England area
means checking reaction last night, they're into buying Bregman jerseys.
They love it, so I don't think that's gonna be
(17:43):
a problem here with a rivalry thing. And the Red
Sox and Astros had their scrums past few years. I mean,
they hired Alex Korra to be their manager and they
won a World Series a year after the Astros did
with all the whole trash cans and everything else. But
I mean, seriously, the Socks got Bregmant for forty dollars,
(18:04):
not one, but two opt outs deferred money. Ultimately, what
I'm saying here is not about Bregmant. It's about a principle.
John Stanton, Chris Larson. Where's the money? Why are players
like these not good enough?
Speaker 4 (18:24):
There?
Speaker 3 (18:25):
They are, we just don't have money.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Yeah, Why are we being teased with this all role
pitching staff that's got potential to just etch and carve
their way into Seattle sports lore like Griffy Marshawn the Glove,
Kemp Don James. I mean, police, you can't tell me
that a greater solutions out there than what you have
in the s infield?
Speaker 7 (18:45):
Yah?
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Would I completely believe you. But now that the I
don't know, the tree is bear out there. Yeah, I'm
I still think they can be a winning to I
think they will be a winning team overall.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Staff has got to stay healthy.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
And then last year was the golden goose of health
when it came to the pitching staff too. So yeah,
you can't depend on all of that, but it doesn't
mean they can't do it.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
This at a lot of crossing fingers right now and
a lot of hope and a lot of hope that
guys are going to hit their potentials once again and
that everyone's going to be playing at max value. And
how fair is that to ask out of everybody? Because
I mean, again, with all due respect to Dylan Moore
and Leo Revas, you weigh a two oh one average,
a six eighty seven ops, ten homers, forty two RBIs
(19:34):
with another two to thirty three average up against Bregman,
a two time World Series champ, and I know one
had a trash can involved.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Oh yeah, yeah it counts.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
You still look at breg I mean, I can't believe
I'm saying this here because I mean I couldn't stand
the astros in the ore they carried after all of that,
and they're arrogance. I'm with you, but I mean, look
at this last year twenty six homers, seventy five RBIs
seven sixty eight ohps is not Otani. But is it better?
(20:05):
I think so it's better four nine four five one.
So again, are you planning to win and put yourself
in the best position to win or are you just
planning here to show up.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
They're going to do the best with what they have.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
They have to They didn't take away and they didn't
add a ton, you know, and Donovan Solano I really
like this. I forget. We had a guest on that
said this. I think it was Chris Crawford. You're not worse,
You're not a worst team. With Donovan Solano, I think
that that poor guy was caught in a situation where
fans out here go, that's it.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
And that this is part of the problem. Is that
is that where we're just sitting here and we're hyper tense,
we're waiting for the first big move.
Speaker 8 (20:51):
I would absolutely prefer a ten minute three on three
overtime to five minutes in a shootout personally, but I
don't know that's actually gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
It took them six minutes here to win last night's game,
and there's a different ball of yarn to unpl untangle
here for this when they have these kind of conversations.
But I mean, I'll say it to your to this
again as our to okay for the NHL on ESPN
joining us here ahead of USA Finland this evening. Canada
is in a different spot without dudes like martambrodor Patrick Wabba.
Bennington was good last night. But I want to address
(21:24):
Team USA because it, to me is the strongest I
have ever looked. And that's saying something given the fact
that they won the World Cup in the nineties with
guys like Brett Hull, Mike madonno Brian Leech. But how
much do you buy into the theory that USA is
the outright favorite in this thing? And even thinking about
(21:45):
it this way, how close have they done work here
to catch up with Canada as well? On the hockey scale, I.
Speaker 8 (21:53):
Would say that if Team USA wins this tournament, they
are the country of record in hot today, not in
history today. Based on recent tournament accomplishments, They've won back
to back World Junior Hockey Championships. They're obviously competitive on
the women's game. Canada has been ramping it up, winning
(22:14):
three or four at the World Championship now, but if
Team USA were to win this tournament, they would be
essentially the favorites or the team of record going into
the Olympics. But I think that Team USA, first of all,
they have the best goaltending trio they've ever had. Team
(22:36):
USA's goaltending is not only the best in the tournament,
but you can argue the best in Team USA, best
on best on the men's side ever, like the just
three studs in goal, and you have a level of
offensive firepower with the likes of Matthews and Icele and
Jack Hughes. A list goes on and on that we
(22:59):
haven't seen for from the Red, White and Blue. So
I think it's appropriate to label them as as a
strong favorite in this tournament.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
A couple of cracking matters before we let you go
arda and get to the TV side. Here for a
prep this evening, Team Finland the sevening has coppococo and
we're a cracking station, a crack and market of course,
and I'll get to them in a bit here, But
I mean, how do you like that trade from the
Rangers to Seattle? Ever since he left for green Pastures?
So to speak, the long term fit may be there
(23:29):
and how well it worked out also for for Will
Borgan and New York.
Speaker 8 (23:33):
I think that it was a good trade. I think
Coppo Coco needed a change in scenery. He was. It
wasn't that he was struggling in New York. It was
just more it didn't seem like it was a fit.
Speaker 6 (23:42):
It was always question marks about his productivity.
Speaker 8 (23:45):
And he seems to be off to a great start
with Seattle. So I think that with Will Borgan also
coming in and bolstering their depth with the Rangers, and
I think it will end up being a good trade
for both teams.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
When this thing is over, we're all of a sudden
and stretch drived terratory here for the regular season. I mean,
the trade market I can sense is already heating up.
Teams don't want to fall behind too much here and
play catchup. So I think to speak on this, how
surprising arta would it be for you to see any
veteran names on the move here from this crack inside?
(24:17):
And if I can add on, what does that mean
here for their needs in the future.
Speaker 8 (24:24):
Yeah, I think they're looking into youth in the future.
The last time we spoke. You know, we were asking
questions about players like Maddy Veneer's and Shane Wright. I
wonder if there are some veteran players on this team
that might be looking elsewhere or that might be inquired
by other teams. I certainly believe that there are enough
(24:44):
pieces on the crack and roster that that other gms
will be looking at, especially as they add pieces to
their potential Cup runs at the trade deadline. If, in
fact it's confirmed that the Kracking are sellers, so it's
going to be interesting for seat. I think that uh,
you know, it's too soon to be hitting the panic
button on a long term uh look outlook, but I
(25:09):
do think I do wonder if they're gonna move a
couple of pieces of the trade.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
Deadline compelling times ahead and they're getting closer and closer. Well,
there's a reason why we call you the man with
a plan. Are to Thank you so much, my man,
Go get field up here for show time tonight, looking

told going down at thirty two bar and grow with
a special salmon soup. It is a finished delicacy, I
am yes. It is in honor of Coppo Coppocco playing
(26:42):
for teams.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
Okay, so you say it the same way people make
fun of me for certain words that I have an
accent with. I say Coppocco.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
Right, Okay, I heard nothing that was different.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
Okay, I just want to make sure I'm pronouncing his
name correctly because I say Mario and a lot of
people say Mark.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Now that that's a different story. I think for me,
because you know, I grew up with a Nintendo. To me,
it's Super Mario Brothers. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (27:08):
Now for.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
It's for others, it's Mario Brothers.
Speaker 7 (27:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Okay, thank you.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Anyhow, Mario, Mario, Tomato, Tomano, whatever. Before we get into
this here, by the way, it's a Qua Honda Caboda,
our proud friend of the Daily power Play. They have
the largest inventory of Kubota tractors and construction equipment in
King County, plus with steel and Honda power tools. It's
the Quahanda Caboda. It's your one stop shop. It's the
(27:36):
Quahanda Caboda rdoff by ninety five or ex of fifteen,
the largest inventory of Koboda equipment in King County. I
want to touch on this first off with Jordan Eberley
and Philip Grubauer down to the American Hockey League and
we're on the hockey trainers, so again bit that big
thanks to Arta Ocal for the NHL on ESPN joining
us a few moments ago. You can find that by
(27:57):
the Way podcast and coming up later on today on
the iHeartRadio app to the Ian Fornest Show. But Eberley
down to the Ahl, Grubauer down to the Ahl. I mean,
could you imagine those words a couple of years ago
when this team was in the playoffs?
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Yeah, I mean, injuries are one thing, but dang.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
Time flies by, and time flies by fast and life
comes at you fast. But that's the reality that we're
at right now here for today, and I got a
couple of things here for what it means for these two.
And in Eberly's case, this was planned and it was
right after he had the free collision into the boards
(28:35):
against the Blackhawks back in November. He wrecked his pelvis.
He couldn't walk, And in hockey you need your hibs
like a pitcher needs his his arm and his elbow.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
You need everything.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Yeah, so you had to have surgery, and so effectively
you're if you're Jordan Eberley, you're starting all over again.
And oh, by the way, around that surgery, his wife
Lauren gave birth third child. Oh, congratulation, Landon, who is
almost three months old now, by the way, so you
got to get through this and do it being a dad.
I mean that that's tough. But so he hasn't played
since November and they're they're cracking, are handling this thing
(29:10):
with his recovery very slowly. So Jordan Eberley got sent
down to a hl Coachell Valley on a conditioning loan.
So Everly's a Firebird hit not so fast. He's going
to go there and be a part of the team,
but don't automatically assume that he's going to be playing
(29:30):
in games at least yet. And I thought Evan Pivnik
pretty much cleared this up on Twitter and next yesterday.
By the way, he's a broadcast voice of the Firebirds.
So Everly's a part of what they call quote team
activities end quote. Basically you can read into that as
he's going to practice, he's working out, so he's not
yet cleared to play. And the reason would for playing
(29:54):
would be risky, say, if he gets hurt again, the
Firebirds could be dragged in here too. This now with
a liability issue, and that's my read on it. And
you want to handle this as cautiously as possible, plus
protect every or when he can come back and play,
now we'll make a difference. That's a different conversation because
there are eleven points out of a playoff spot right now.
(30:15):
So would I be surprised if every plays in games
with Coachella Valley. Absolutely, you look back and this has
happened before. Connor McDavid did the exact same thing with
the Bakersfield Condors, another AHL team, exactly nine years ago.
So you can't skate up here in Seattle if you're Everly,
(30:36):
everyone's gone for the Four Nations break. I mean, you're
better off going here to a place where you can
get some reps in and hey, Palm desert some while
you're at it, sign me up. Not too shabby, So
very likely based in the timeline here that Ron Francis
gave a long time ago. It's at the end of
the month, maybe early March, and Everly's track and right
on pace here for that very quick. Philip Grubauer's case
(30:59):
as much much and so far is so good. He
hasn't played in the AGEL in ten years, but nine
to three to three, say percentage, that's a good thing.
Now he's down there. Not because of injury. It's a
technique issue. And at age thirty three, where's this going
for Grubauer in the future. That's my concern.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
That's very curious.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
That's my concern about this year. He's he's been reported
as a buyout candidate. He's got two years left on
a six year deal. After this year, the crack and
have room to burn if they want. And it's no
longer a starting goalie backup league. It's a goalie one
A and goalie one B league, like a mini rotation
in baseball. So there's no way you're getting into the
(31:41):
playoffs with goalie one A who's got that dynamite numbers,
and goalie one B who's doing the exact opposite. And
his say percentage right now in the NHL is eight
six six, that's lowest of his career. That's concerning. So
assuming he comes back up, you've got to throw him
right into the fire and how high does that fire? Well,
(32:01):
first two games out of the four Nations break back
to back a week from Saturday at the Florida Panthers,
defending Stanley Cup champion. I want to try them again
the very next day. Well, you've got the Tampa Bay
Lightning who have won two Stanley Cups in the last
five years. It is sink or swim time right now, Yeah,
a lot of time. We got Corbyn Smith up next year.
(32:24):
More on Seahawks stuff, all lines, stuff, Gino Smith's Fix
and much more. Next right here ninety three three KJIRFM.
Now from the Star.

One day ago announced that Crack and For Jordan Everley
was assigned to the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the Crack and
Ahl affiliate on a conditioning stint. Everly, in his fourth
season with the team first year as captain, has been
out since November after undergoing pelvic surgery following a freak
(33:21):
collision into the end boards against the Chicago Blackhawks, but
having a great start so far through seventeen games, he's
had six goals and five assists for eleven points. Official
word by the way, the New York Jets partying ways
with quarterback Aaron Rodgers after nearly two years. New head
coach Aaron Glenn Darren Moogy releasing a joint statement saying
(33:42):
they met last week with Rodgers and quote shared that
our intention was to move in a different direction at
quarterback end quotes. Yes, the Vikings have a chance to
do the funniest thing ever if you're following along here
with the whole Brett faarv thing. Free agent Alex Bregman
has a new home, by the way, after agreen to

with the Boston Red Sox. Annual salary at forty million
is more than ten million per year than other teams
were offering. Sources said the deal also includes two opt
outs and deferred money, and speaking of money, rich get
richer Clayton Kershaw will return to the Dodgers for his
eighteenth year in Major League Baseball officially, his career is
(34:29):
now the lifespan of an adult is old enough to vote.
His deal is one year for seven point five million
dollars onto the Seahawks thing. We go now from about
two days ago. Before I get to that, though, I
want to get to our two PM cash contests as well.

Also you can find his handywork at Emerald City Spectrum
in podcasting at Lockdown Seahawks. Corbyn Smith joining us now
on the Beacon Plumbing Hotline. Corbin, something pretty important I
(36:06):
think for us to bring up. I hear there is
a birthday until for family and I think your dad
is that right?
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (36:15):
Happy seventy eight all to fly into Michigan in surprise him.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
Oh, tell them happy birthday for us please from all
of us, we'll do. How long was the flight out there.
Speaker 6 (36:27):
Well it should have been two hours, but you know,
when you're making the trip over in blizzard conditions, that
drive with a little bit treacherous, but got here safe,
That's all that matters.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Is Is it actually warmer out there than it is here.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
Hmm.
Speaker 6 (36:43):
It's in the low twenties, so that's a little bit cooler.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Oh okay, okay, We'll still seeing family. That's that that
that that is good enough for a trip. That is
well deserving here for you, my friend, but great to
have you here with us. And I always appreciate the
work that you do. And I think first things first,
I know that we get sick and tired about talking
about the offensive line here at this point, and I
think maybe that we're just sick and tired of being
sick and tired here maybe, But I mean, for what
(37:09):
the Seahawks have hired here in Clint Kubiak, it's a
big step. But to you, how big is it?
Speaker 6 (37:17):
I think that it's a big step in the sense
that you were bringing in somebody that is heralding from
the Shanahan Kubiak scheme, which has historically been able to
engineer really good run games, particularly around zone centric schemes.
So I think from that perspective it is a big deal,
especially with some of the assistants they've been brought on board.
That's the way I view it. In the NFL, the
(37:39):
offensive coordinator is obviously important, but I think the overall
staff is crucial. And Scott Huff, you know, his first year,
the only year in Seattle as the offensive line coach,
just felt like that group did not grow the way
that I think that Mike McDonald was envisioning. You now
have John Benton coming in who has worked with Clint Kubiak,
and John Benton has had a bunch of top ten
(38:02):
rushing attacks. He is one of the most respected seasoned
offensive line coaches out there. And Andrew Ganoko is a
quarterback coach, is young, but he has got a pretty
good reputation at this point. So I think when you
just look at what they've done so far, not just
with Kubiak, but the staff in general, feels like they've
put a lot more emphasis on let's get experienced coaches
(38:23):
that have a proven track record, and I think you're
going to see that show up a lot more on
the field.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
Yeah, I think it just kind of feels like for
this offensive lineus Corbyn Smith joins us right here, there's
just really nowhere to go but up here in this case.
So I think I think inn in John Benton's case,
no relation when you when you talk experience. By this
point of where he's at, I mean, how much can
we define any kind of secret sauce if you will.
(38:51):
That makes a big difference here.
Speaker 6 (38:54):
I think it boils down to the instruction. And Clint
Kubiak reiterated this and we talked to him with two
that he is a great teacher. This guy screams offensive
line coach. I mean he has the look of the
offensive line coach, the grizzled, older guy with the beard.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
He just looks like he is.
Speaker 6 (39:12):
Ready to coach offensive lineman. But the track record speaks
for itself. The guy has had so many top ten
rushing attacks and he's done it primarily with zone centric schemes.
But he is an excellent teacher. And the other thing
that Clint Kubiak pointed out, and I don't know that
this was something that happened last year on the offensive
staff in general, there's got to be accountability, and this
(39:35):
guy is going to hold his players accountable. He's done
that throughout his coaching career. You talk to players that
played for him in San Francisco, New York, most recently
New Orleans, way back in his day in Houston. That
is one of the major. I guess he could say
that is the secret sauces his ability to hold guy's
accountable that you are going to improve upon with the
(39:56):
teachings we've got there. If not, you're going to be
held accountable for that.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
Yeah, that you don't want to judge a book here
by its cover, but let's just see it. Take one
look at John Benton, who knows business, he knows his football,
and let's just say that they didn't pluck him out
of the school library at the local high school here
for sure, but where his background is and anyway, I
want to be fair on this part, but we just
can't hide from this because he was a great offensive
(40:21):
coordinator for the Huskies and he's got a great gig
now at Alabama. But Ryan Grubb won and done here.
How much do you see things operating differently Grub last
year now to what they're getting in Clint Kubiak.
Speaker 6 (40:37):
Well, the first thing is the type of offense. You
are going to see, a much more pro style centric offense.
And listen, I'm an old school football guy. When I
heard Clink Kubiak say yes to the full back, I
got excited because that is something that this franchise quite
frankly has not done since Mike Robinson was played. I mean,
(41:00):
they've really gone away from using fullbacks. And if you
look at what Kyle Shanahan has had so much success
doing in San Francisco and what Baltimore has done where
Mike McDonald is from, those teams are two of the
few that still use a fullback a ton and they
have a lot of success with that physical, tough minded offense.
(41:21):
And that's what Mike McDonald wants. You weren't gonna get
that with Ryan Grubb. He has no history of really
using two back sets. I think they had twelve plays
last year where two backs were in the backfield, and
most of those were with Zach Charmoney and Ken Walker
a third together. They just haven't used a full back.
And so I think you're gonna see a lot more
two back sets along with the two tight end formations,
(41:43):
a lot more too wide receiver sets. It is gonna
look like the typical Mike Shanahan scheme that is gonna
be more pro centric in terms of how they use
their personnel groupings and stuff. And I think that that
is the biggest difference that you're gonna see, and you're
also gonna see a ton more under center, which was
my biggest gripe last year. Way too much shotgun last season.
(42:03):
That's Ryan Grubb's offense. You're not going to be seen
that with Quick Kubiak, who is going to make life
tougher on the defense by getting under center, establishing that
run game, and having those two back sets sprinkled.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
In there as well. I mean, goodness, we're talking about
adding a fullback. We're hearing about the Mariners all of
a sudden trying to hit the ball of the opposite field.
I mean, I'm thinking, like, what year is this right now?
Is this throwback everywhere all over the place here in
this town. Oh my goodness, it's like, just like, bring
back cable TV here while we're at it, and you know,
bring back the old like gray box that's on top
of the tube if we're going to go that direction here.
(42:38):
But I mean, I'm curious as we talk full back.
I mean, it just kind of takes me back here
into the days of when you had like Mike Alstot,
you know, bull rushing his way up the middle, Tom Rathman.
The list goes on and on here, and you mentioned
two back sets. I mean, I'll get to Kenneth Walker
in a little bit here, but I mean, what does
this mean for the usage and the production as well
in detail here for a guy likeby.
Speaker 6 (43:01):
I think that, you know, it's interesting. I'm wondering if
Zach Harvina actually gets more run there at the fullback position,
because they used him some there last year and he
blocks really well. He's a physical player that might be
your modern fullback that you know can fill kind of
that Kyle Huscheck type role in Seattle's offense. So I
think you could see him there. But if he's in
(43:24):
the backfield at tailback, or Ken Walker's back there or
Kenny McIntosh, like, if Seattle can go out and get somebody,
there's some intriguing free agents, and one of them is
right now Patrick Ricard, Baltimore's fullback, and I don't know
if the Ravens will be letting him go or if
he's willing to go somewhere else, but that would be
if you put a two hundred and eighty pound road
(43:46):
grader in front of Sharvon a and Walker like that
is a game changer for your run game. And even
Adam Prentiss, who was the fullback for the Saints last
year in Kubak's offense, he played twenty five percent of
their snaps. He's going to be a free agent two,
so Kubiak might go that route, and they've had success
with him in front of Alvin Kamara there in New Orleans.
(44:06):
So I really think having a bruising fullback, and I
think in today's game, got to have somebody that's a
little bit versatile that can catch the ball and run
it when you need to. Wasn't somebody like Ricard. It's
just an absolute train coming out of the backfield blocking people,
and he can even catch the football some I just
think it really it forces the opponent to get out
(44:26):
of their two safety sets. You have to have an
extra guy up in the box. And what does that
open up your play action passing game. I think schematically
and structurally from a formation standpoint that it opens a.
Speaker 2 (44:37):
Lot of things up for you on an all sense,
I think of two part progress here with this offensive
line and where we're going to be starting at as
Corbyn Smith joins US year from lockdown Seahawks, and when
when I think about what they can do, John Benton's
got the roadmap here. But as far as what they
put in place. What about the free agency part of this,
what about the draft and where do you see this
(44:58):
thing going here too? To shore up the offensive line,
I'm wondering.
Speaker 9 (45:04):
Base in the comments that Kubiak has made, including recently
saying that you need to have an elite center to
run his scheme, I'm wondering if that means they are
going to be aggressive at the center position in free agency.
Speaker 6 (45:18):
Maybe that's somebody like Drew Dolman from the Atlanta Falcons
who is set to hit the market and is a
younger player that has started a lot of games and
really fits that zone blocking scheme. He's a lighter, more athletic, mobile,
really intelligent center coming from Stanford. I'm wondering if they
go that route instead of spending big money on a
(45:38):
guard in free agency. If that's a position, and look,
they have not had a good They've not had a
great center or even a good starting center in Yeah,
it's been a long time. So I'm wondering if free
agencies where they're going to attack the center position. And
this is a pretty good offensive line draft class, particularly
at the garden tackle spots. It feels like they can
(45:58):
get the guard position reinforced, while still having hopes that
Christian Haynes can really turn it on in year two.
I think that they have real optimism about some of
the young players that are here. But I do think
the center position, I'm wondering if that's the spot they're
going to be most aggressive at it free agency, just
based on what Kubiak has said and knowing how this
scheme works.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
So here's another hot button topic, chicken or egg question
about the talent or about who you're putting in front
of him. The Geno Smith talk is getting to add
nausea levels, but that's just the cost of doing business
here in a game where there's just not much else
out there and a successor in place who just you know,
he for us, who doesn't want a playoff game. But
yet he's still here and we're still talking about what
(46:41):
he can maybe do with something different. So I think,
to you, with this new system in place, you look
to upgrade the offensive line. What's a healthy expectation for
Geno Smith out of this offense that's coming in.
Speaker 6 (46:55):
I think that the healthy expectation would be that you
can get back closer to the thirty touchdown production that
you got in twenty twenty two when the Seahawks had
a run game. I mean ken Walker's third ran for
over eleven hundred yards that year. If they can just
have an average run game, they don't need a top
ten rushing attack, but they need to be better than
twenty eight and you certainly need to be higher than
(47:17):
twenty ninth in attempts. If they can have a formidable
ground game that takes some of the pressure off Gino
Smith and the offensive line is able to open up
some holes for those guys in the backfield, you can
create more opportunities for your play action. I don't think yeah,
I think just taking some of the burden off his shoulders,
Like you look at last year, like how many times
did he have to try to carry this offense because
(47:38):
they could not run the ball or they didn't one.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
Man, we don't talk about red zone Dewey Corbyn.
Speaker 6 (47:45):
The red zone issues again. Koobiak talked about this first
and second down. You've got to win and when you
can't run the football or you're not willing to, your
red zone production is not gonna be good. And I
thought the spacing on a number of those plays that
Geno Smith got picked on with the receivers. I know
the spacing was very shaky, so there were a lot
of things that were working against the quarterback there. He
(48:07):
made some bad decisions along the way too. But I
just think having a better offensive structure and having at
least a semblance of a run game, I think you
can get Gino Smith back to that twenty twenty two
production with touchdowns, less interceptions, and really just having a
much better, more efficient offense in general.
Speaker 2 (48:26):
So what about DK Metcalf. I know that we had
Hugh Millanon the other day and there was heavy talk
about where they want to maybe move him around. But
you can't ignore the fact he's getting older and the
top receivers numbers wise in this league are getting younger.
Where are you at with the DK Metcalf picture here
in this offense, He's still.
Speaker 6 (48:48):
Only twenty seven years old, and that's the crazy thing.
And it's not like he's heading towards the end of
his career. He's still very much in the prime of
his career. I think the issue runs into if he's
commanding thirty plus million per year, I don't know that
you can pull the trigger on that with I mean,
the production's obviously been really good in his first six seasons,
(49:09):
but he's never been that top five guy in terms
of receiving yardage and touchdowns and receptions. He hasn't ever
taken that step. So what you have to ask yourself
is Clint Kubiak going to be the guy that can
get that type of production out of him? And based
on his track record, I would bet with Clint Kubiak.
I mean, you look what he did justin Jefferson his
(49:30):
second year with the Vikings, over sixteen hundred receiving yards.
Last year, Chris Olave and Rashid Shahed would have both
been thousand yard receivers if they wouldn't have gotten hurt.
They were well on pace for a thousand yards when
they both got banged up middle of the season. This
guy knows how to get his top wide receivers the football,
and that's gonna be the biggest key. It just seemed
like Ryan Grubb couldn't figure out schematically how to get
(49:54):
the football into his best playmaker's hands. Clint Kubiak historically
has been able to do that, and so that would
be why I'm optimistic that you're leaning towards let's get
this extension done, he can still be a building block
for this offense, especially if you're moving on from Tyler Lockett,
which it seems like that is kind of an inevitability
at this point.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
So what will surprise you more he gets to eleven
hundred yards or Kenneth Walker the Third gets to one
thousand yards rushing.
Speaker 6 (50:22):
I would say at this point that I would I
don't know if either one of those would be surprising
because you expect it from Metcalf.
Speaker 2 (50:29):
He's had a.
Speaker 6 (50:30):
Fifteen hundred yard receiving season before, and if Tyler Lockett's
not there, there's gonna be more opportunities to think for
him and ken Walker the Third, if he can just
stay healthy and the offensive line plays, We've already seen
him get to a thousand yards. I would just say,
based on what we've recently seen, I would say ken Walker,
especially because he do have Zach Charvina. That's kind of
using a fantasy term, that handcuff that is going to
(50:50):
get plenty of opportunities to run the ball too.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
Great stuff, Corbyn Smith, we can always count on to
you and my friend. Great work as usual. Please tell
Dad for us happy birthday and again and tell us
where we can find your handiwork.
Speaker 6 (51:02):
As always an ex and Blue Sky Corbusmith, NFL. And
you can check out our new website, Emerald City Spectrum.
It's Emerald Cityspectrum dot com. We got Seahawks at every
other major Seattle Prowood College team. That's the goal on
our site.
Speaker 2 (51:16):
Oh, we'll all be dialed and appreciate you, my man,
Thank you. Thanks Mike as Corbyn Spith joining us once
again as before we get to break again four nine
four five one. I would love to hear from you.
What would surprise you more? Maybe does dk Metcalf get
back to eleven hundred yards receiving or Kenneth Walker the
third to one thousand yards rushing, But something that just
(51:40):
baby go hmm. I love the sound of that. Was
employing the fullback scheme once again. You know what I
give me, give me the throwback, give it to me.
Speaker 7 (51:49):
I love it. I love it.
Speaker 4 (51:51):
I talked to Max Strong recently and uh, you know,
got those vibes from him as well. But the Mariners
and the Seahawks are very similar right now. They win,
but they're not winningest right They're not getting to the postseason,
and they're both in interesting situations where I mean, obviously
they're completely different leagues where there's a salary cap in
(52:12):
one and not in the other. However, they're still in
the same area where they're really good but they're not great.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
I mean, we're talking about employing a fullback scheme. We're
talking about hitting the bottle of the opposite field. All
I'm just missing here is just the George I wore
back in ninth grade in like nineteen ninety five. It's
a different time in.
Speaker 3 (52:29):
Era you wore George.
Speaker 7 (52:31):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (52:31):
If you wore George, were they self made from jeans
you owned or were pres Oh.
Speaker 2 (52:35):
Those were right off the rack. I didn't have the
time or the skill to make them self made.
Speaker 3 (52:42):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (52:42):
Plus, you don't want to see me with scissors.
Speaker 4 (52:44):
Also, back at the y, I was going to give
you a picture of a pair that I made for
Mike with It was for an eighties party and it's
not pretty.
Speaker 10 (52:53):
I'm really proud of you for not going that route.
One sentence for you Instagram or it didn't.
Speaker 3 (52:59):
Happen, I'll show it to you on my phone. I'm
not posting it.
Speaker 2 (53:01):
I can't wait for this.
Speaker 3 (53:02):

have updated this earlier here, but we still have time.

Speaker 3 (53:42):

Speaker 3 (54:03):
Yeah I heard it.
Speaker 4 (54:03):
Okay, Well, anything that they serve there is always amazing,
and that isn't a regular item on the menu, So
I would go and order it and try it out
for yourself.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
Head chef Ken Moriarty. In the game, they take care
of everybody. Ken also takes care of the players privately
for a team breakfast. I mean this is not on
the menu, but they they do a killer omlit bar.
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (54:23):
Up.
Speaker 2 (54:25):
Well it kind of reminded me. I mean, I know
that you've done Seahawks a bunch, you know, in your
previous parts of your career and stuff. And it was
my it was my first time. I was just hanging
out in the booth with and it was Wayne Randozzo
and his crew for Westwood One about a couple of
years ago. Oh yeah, I got into I got into
the food line. And when I discovered the Seahawks have
(54:47):
an omlet bar, I go, oh, you have me sold here.
Speaker 3 (54:51):
Oh their pressbas is so good.
Speaker 2 (54:54):
And that's what the line is about, twenty five feet long.
Speaker 7 (54:57):
Uh huh.
Speaker 4 (54:58):
And also you have people who reckon our industry who
are all going to take full advantage.
Speaker 3 (55:02):
All right, you want to get to some texts here, Yeah,
let's go.
Speaker 2 (55:05):
I'll start off here for a pretty easy one from
the four to two five who are your mount rushmore
of NHL players you have seen play live. I'm gonna
go with the ones. I don't want to overthink Wayne
Gretzky's obvious. I actually saw him my very first game
I ever watched live. He broke Gordy Howse record at
(55:25):
eight oh two. I saw him score a goal at
eight oh three. Very next one, Mario Lemieux, and I
saw him when he was well past his prime. I mean,
you could tell that it was about horse out the
pasture time for him. But the way that he played.
He's six foot four, built like a tank but just
(55:46):
has hands of butter, and the way that he kept
guys off the puck over and over with his strength,
it was just incredible. Back at anyone want to say
two thousand and two, two thousand and three, I'll put
McDavid up there for obvious reasons, and it took me
a while to see him live. But I'm gonna go
with Sidney Crosby as well.
Speaker 4 (56:07):
Okay, so the only thing I would do is put
Ovechkin in there, and Sydney was on my list here.
Speaker 3 (56:13):
But yeah, you didn't have Ovechkin, right, I.
Speaker 6 (56:15):
Did not have.
Speaker 2 (56:16):
I should though I should, and he was incredible, and
I think for me it was I've actually seen Ovechkins score,
and he's scored quite a few against the Kraken. They
they held him off the board until the empty net
goal this last time. Yeah, but it was just with
with with Ovechkin, it's you're waiting, you're waiting, and all
of a sudden bamming just pops about of nowhere and
(56:38):
scores a goal. With with with Crosby and with with
with McDavid, it's just a continuous symphony of what they
do on the ice, shift after shift after you just
can't take your eyes off of them. Yes, that was
me for Gretzky, that was me for Mario Olemeux as well.
Speaker 4 (56:56):
Yeah. Well, I think people also take a lot of
shots at Ovechkin because he does have a high number
of empty netters.
Speaker 3 (57:01):
Or power play goals.
Speaker 2 (57:03):
I don't, I don't.
Speaker 3 (57:04):
I just you're still greatness. And I'm sorry people.
Speaker 2 (57:09):
Who complain about a system quarterback or you want in
a COVID year, who cares. Still it still counts.
Speaker 3 (57:16):
He's still great.
Speaker 4 (57:17):
And also, anyone else in the ice was put in
the same exact situation and he's the one that scores.
Speaker 3 (57:22):
So I put him out there. But you know what,
let's have a.
Speaker 4 (57:25):
Five headed amount Rushmore because we can make stuff up
as we go.
Speaker 2 (57:29):
Two five three. If you don't upgrade your lineman, then
forget about who your quarterback and receivers are because you
won't have enough time to throw and you won't be
able to run the ball. The scheme won't matter without
talent in the trenches. That's from the two five to three.
Speaker 3 (57:44):
One hundred percent agree.
Speaker 4 (57:45):
And I don't think we've heard much different from anyone
who's talking about the Seahawks this season. It's just they
they haven't struggled when they've tried to pay, and they
haven't struggled when they have cheaped out on it.
Speaker 3 (57:56):
So I don't know what they're.
Speaker 6 (57:57):
Going to do.
Speaker 2 (58:00):
Two five saying not not a so dumb comment here, Mike,
do you just enjoy saying John Benton over and over
again kind of makes you say.
Speaker 3 (58:09):
Well, let's read this, let's read the whole thing.
Speaker 4 (58:11):
Not so dumb blonde here is what they wrote in
But you know, I think you were saving me from
the embarrassed.
Speaker 2 (58:19):
I didn't want to do that, didn't want to do it.
Speaker 10 (58:20):
That is like the least mean thing I've ever been called.
Trust me, not worried about it. But you know trust me,
John Benton. You put him and me together in a picture.
There's definitely no relation.
Speaker 4 (58:33):
Well, it's kind of fun though, I mean I don't
any time I meet him McIntyre like I always love
coach McIntyre. You know who obviously was with Colorado forever,
Mike McIntyre.
Speaker 3 (58:43):
I love saying it.
Speaker 2 (58:44):
I have no Mike's and my all I can say
is I've met more guys in my life who share
my first name more than my last name. Oh yeah,
I've met a lot more Mike's than a lot more Benton's.
Speaker 4 (58:54):
I'm married to a Mike. I love Mike's. There's yesterday, Mike.
You know coach was in here.
Speaker 2 (59:02):
I hard for me.
Speaker 4 (59:05):
Yeah, that will happen. That will happen. I have this
dream at night that the NFL will go to sleep
and go wait a minute, I can't go to sleep
right now. We have to right this wrong.
Speaker 2 (59:17):
Neither neither here nor there though. Hall of Fame, Hall
of Fame, Oliday.
Speaker 7 (59:20):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (59:21):
From the four to two five. The Seahawks need to
release Geno without reaching it all. The Hawks could easily
lose twelve games next year if they were able to
play last year's schedule again, they would probably lose twelve.
The Niners will be better. The late season Broncos would
beat them, and the Dolphins beat them with anybody at quarterback.
(59:43):
For the Hawks to be better than say five and twelve,
they have to play great in any of the borderline games,
and they have to stay healthy and hope they played
teams with injuries at key positions from the four to
two five.
Speaker 4 (59:57):
I mean, I get what, I get the point, except
I feel like you're throwing out that, yeah, that could
happen in the opposite could happen, And yes, they do
need to be played better in the borderline games.
Speaker 3 (01:00:09):
They needed to play better in a couple of those
this year that.
Speaker 4 (01:00:12):
Weren't even borderline. They were How the heck did you
lose that game?
Speaker 6 (01:00:15):
Yep?
Speaker 3 (01:00:17):
But then they exceeded expectations.
Speaker 4 (01:00:19):
You know, we saw early in the season against the
Detroit Lions, but then we also saw the Giants game happen.
So I think the unpredictability is why it's hard for
me to say they could easily go five and twelve,
but it wouldn't blow me away.
Speaker 3 (01:00:34):
I'd be disappointed.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
What was a conversation we had about two days ago.
Would you rather have? Would teams rather have first an
elite QB or an elite system?
Speaker 3 (01:00:46):
The system can make an elite Well, yes, they.
Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
Would love both, but I mean, yes, what comes first here?
The system? Yes, because everyone's a system QB. Everyone is
a system QB. Right, just get this one here from
the three six. So we dealt with Gino for two years.
He ain't it They sign him forty million a year.
I'm tapping out till he's gone. Not worth that much.
Two oh six says, until John Schneinder knows how to
(01:01:11):
build an offensive line, this team will be forever around
five hundred. I tend to agree it's about the offensive line,
which is why it leads me to say, just wait
until you see Gino with a decent offensive line, and
then we'll go from there.
Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
I think that's extremely fair. And he's a good quarterback.
He is not extremely flawed. He's been put in a
flawed situation.
Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
Three to two OHO before we get to break here.
Two things about the Four Nations. One, if it doesn't
count in the NHL standings, it shouldn't be played during
the NHL season. And two, it's an irrelevant tournament, or
if you aren't going to include the Russians, Czech Slovox.
It shouldn't exist, thank you. Three to two. Oho, Here's
(01:01:56):
where I stand on this. You either play at mid
season or you play it like in September, and that
shortens the summer for players, that pushes back the schedule,
makes the crunching preseason. Now, I'll buy the argument that
there are too many preseason games because that then becomes
a concern about health and where guys get banged up,
(01:02:17):
just like at Drew Dowdy in Los Angeles. You just
got back now from a broken ankle. But we're hearing
more and more. And I saw a great story in
the Athletic a poll of NHL players. You'd be surprised
at how many guys actually said they don't mind it.
Kind of shake things up, kind of mix things up
(01:02:39):
here from the dog days in baseball there July August,
in hockey there in December, January, et cetera. And this
is not as far fetched way out in left field,
way out in Planet Mars type of the NBA Cup
thing that they're doing right now, but it's something different
(01:03:02):
here to give these guys a chance of mixings up.
Plus also It's an important warm up here for the Olympics,
and that is the ultimate end game. Connor mc david
said he wanted to play best on best. This is
how you warm this up here for the Olympics. And
then they're gonna bring this back. He used to be
called the Canada Cup and then they change this back
in the mid nineties. But the World Cup of Hockey.
(01:03:23):
Great theater, great TV. That's a preseason tournament. But they're
also gonna bring this back here also after the Olympics.
Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:03:31):
I can't wait for that.
Speaker 3 (01:03:32):
Yeah, me neither.
Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
I like getting excited about things that I are not
right in my mainstream viewing. And you know, I'm football
and baseball and I love the Kraken, but it's still
new of living in a city that has a team,
it's still brand new comparatively speaking.
Speaker 3 (01:03:50):
That's where I think that gets me excited.
Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
It keeps it fresh. Plus also, I can't wait to
see what happens during the Olympics. And this is where
We're gonna get a lot of eyeballs here for this.
And it's a long time come to get NHL players
back in. Speaking of speaking of fresh, you know it's
always fresh Dave Softy Maller, he's next all right, somewhere
(01:04:19):
out there in the weeds, but find China a private
server at the five twenty Bar and Grill. They have
let him out of this cage once again. Is that you,
Dave Softy Maller?
Speaker 7 (01:04:31):
How annoying would it be if I did the entire
show like this?
Speaker 2 (01:04:37):
It sounds like some kind of Columbo thing going on.
Speaker 7 (01:04:39):
Let me ask you a question.
Speaker 11 (01:04:40):
You ever see like the the guys that go to
the golf course they're gonna pay off their fantasy football
bet and a loser who got his ass kicked during
the season has to wear like a dog shot collar
on the tea box and when he goes to swing.
Speaker 7 (01:04:50):
They sap him.
Speaker 2 (01:04:51):
Right, that's a nice one.
Speaker 7 (01:04:52):
Oh, it's unbelievable. It's it's it's it's all over YouTube, man,
you gotta check it out.
Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
I've seen dudes have to like get get on airplanes
and and go to some like remote location wearing whatever.
Speaker 7 (01:05:03):
Yeah, but I'm.
Speaker 11 (01:05:04):
Talking about like I would do a show and you
would put a dog collar on me, like a shot collar.
Speaker 7 (01:05:08):
Oh, I can't wait for a moment in time during
the show. All Right, folks, walking back to the.
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
I mean, jeez, I was just talking about finding your
pranking you right now.
Speaker 3 (01:05:18):
That is better.
Speaker 11 (01:05:19):
I'm gonna put one on Taylor and Zach her when
she's filling somebody's water up.
Speaker 7 (01:05:23):
I would you like to.
Speaker 11 (01:05:24):
Man, this is the kind of stuff we need to
be doing on this radio station.
Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
What was the last time?
Speaker 7 (01:05:31):
Don't know why we're not.
Speaker 3 (01:05:32):
The envelope here?
Speaker 11 (01:05:33):
Huh hell yes when the station result. I'm bored out
of my freaking mind last time I was in the studio.
Let's see today's Thursday. I've been on the road the
entire week. I'll be back tomorrow. Uh, dude, you're asking
me to remember last week. I got a better chance
to remembering six months.
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
I don't think i've seen you in too much.
Speaker 11 (01:05:52):
I can't remember what I did this morning, swear to god. Dude,
By the way, I am just shot.
Speaker 7 (01:05:58):
I I can't remember.
Speaker 2 (01:05:59):
Jack's last night. How was the Nicky Glazer Show?
Speaker 11 (01:06:03):
Nicky Glazier, thank you for bringing that up? Yes, because
I had forgotten that.
Speaker 7 (01:06:07):
We went to that.
Speaker 11 (01:06:07):
She was awesome, much better than Shane Gillis, and I
love Shane Gillis, but the difference between the Gillis Show
and the Glazier Show is that Gillis trotted out five
different comedians and outside of Adam Ray, who's from Seattle.
Speaker 7 (01:06:22):
Yeah, they were horrible. They stunk. I mean, my god,
they were just what what what was that?
Speaker 3 (01:06:29):
Who else was it?
Speaker 11 (01:06:30):
I don't even remember, jes they were so freaking bad.
I don't even remember who they were. And by the
time Gillis got up there and like, all right, let's
just get out of here. My god, come on. So
but yeah, Nicky was Nicky was awesome. She's got a filthy,
dirty mouth, by the way, you'd like it.
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
Just the roast of Tom Brady. That was a living legend.
Speaker 11 (01:06:51):
There's nothing that we can discuss on the air that
she brought up, nothing whatsoever.
Speaker 7 (01:06:56):
All right, all of it would get everybody here fired instantly.
Speaker 2 (01:06:59):
Well this is a star rot.
Speaker 7 (01:07:01):
Let's go, let's go, come on, let's bring it up anyway. Yeah,
I think that's the kind of.
Speaker 11 (01:07:05):
Stuff we should be doing on this radio station, doing
shows with dog shot collars on things like that, trying
to speak a different language for two hours whatever, you know,
maybe using like a sign language and stuff instead of
talking on the air.
Speaker 7 (01:07:15):
Morse code just banging the microphone.
Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
I could see Hugh if you do it, give Hugh
the remote, yeah you know, but he would use it
like you know when you're clicking through film and you're upright.
Speaker 7 (01:07:27):
Wait.
Speaker 11 (01:07:28):
Yeah, Well, I've had an idea that, you know, for
a long time, and nobody's wanted to do it. I
think it's genius that we should do a week where
everybody switches shows and partners, Like one week I'll do
or one day, I'll do the morning show with Bucky.
Chuck does the afternoon show with Dick. I do the
show with Ian. Ian does the show with Kid. I
do the show with Mark. Mark does the show with Faine.
Beton does the show with Ian, Chuck does the show
(01:07:50):
with you. Whatever, right, and we just mix it up
little variety. You're not a morning person, though, I'll do well.
I'm not a morning radio guy.
Speaker 7 (01:07:57):
But I'm up. I'm awake it five.
Speaker 2 (01:07:58):
Oh, I can't wait for this. I will wake up
at on the computer here for this. This is going
to be epic.
Speaker 7 (01:08:04):
Let's do it.
Speaker 4 (01:08:06):
Kind of I mean, right now, hockey isn't going, Baseball
is just starting.
Speaker 3 (01:08:10):
It's a kind of a disrespecting the four nations.
Speaker 7 (01:08:13):
Face off. I see what you're doing the hockey.
Speaker 2 (01:08:16):
She was said, she has to go back to bed
after this year.
Speaker 7 (01:08:19):
We got a big one. That baby got a big one.
That where's that game?
Speaker 11 (01:08:25):
By the way, Montreal, Montreal got you right, by the way,
what's that You to Montreal for a game?
Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
Not for a game? But I was there for the
draft when when the when, and Shane.
Speaker 7 (01:08:38):
Was pissed off the Canadian Canadian ends didn't draft him.
Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
I remember you, yeah, and we and we got him
ten minutes after he allegedly glared at that table off
the draft stage. And I remember talking to him later.
He was like, man, what was going through my head?
It was like a whirlwind. I have no idea.
Speaker 7 (01:08:52):
Yeah, what do you make of the big match up tonight?
Speaker 6 (01:08:54):
Huh?
Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
Well?
Speaker 7 (01:08:56):
First off, First.
Speaker 2 (01:08:58):
Off, Finland scratched Coppa Cocko, So Team USA already suffer
to beat the wheels off of that.
Speaker 11 (01:09:06):
Well, the money line, it's gonna be a pay in
favor of the US. By the way, watch out.
Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
For the US men. They're coming. They're they are coming.
They are like win the game tonight. They are they
are coming. They are all like you win the game.
Speaker 11 (01:09:17):
Because every time I freaking ask you you're wrong, don't
ask the score, don't just tell me who wins us
A U S A. I'm putting the house on the
on the Americans, all right, what you got coming along?
I'm gonna come to your house and put you in
the throat.
Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
Okay, you've been driving out of that for so long.
What's today?
Speaker 7 (01:09:35):
Thursday?
Speaker 6 (01:09:35):
Will?
Speaker 7 (01:09:36):
Yeah? I think forty bar and grill.
Speaker 11 (01:09:37):
We're gonna be here till five o'clock before the Americans
take on the Fins at five pm from Montreal. Uh, Mike,
conggirl will be here from four to five, and Humanlon
will be here from three to four.
Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
Save me and Berger. We'll get the dog shot collar
thing for you pretty soon. You came here.
Speaker 7 (01:09:53):
Let's make it happen.
Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
Some one's next. Big thanks again to jessmin Are, Okla,
Corbin Smith, everyone for e and I might see you
