Speaker 1 (00:00):
My name is Chris Crawford. Thank you guys so much
for tuning in. We have it a jam packed show
and I got to tell you this two hours man Friday.
It went by so quick, so quick, and I imagine
today we'll be just as quick. We're gonna molly wop
thanks to simply Seattle, the very best m O l
l y w h op one to say, fifteen percent
off your order. I'll be joined by Nathan Bishop. We're
(00:22):
gonna do it like we did last summer, where I'm
gonna play the part of Ian Anders is going to
pay the part of Christopher Crawford and no one could
ever replace Nathan Bishop, like there's no there's just nothing
we can do about.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Nope, nope, the the uh kind of blogger guide. Yeah, yes,
Harry Cinical, you know it's.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Beautiful, beautiful, the only thing you know. And I'm I
love seeing Nathan's face, but he looks so much like
John harbought to me that likely. Yeah, yeah, Jacob, take
a look sometime next time. And I Nathan, if you're
listening right now, I love you, and I'm sorry that
I said that, but I can't help it. But on
(01:02):
top of that, we are also going to have Mariner
vice president and assistant general manager Any McKay com on
the show. At one forty five, Andy does a big
player development is kind of his forte and you know,
the Mariners have, according to a lot of people, including yours,
truly the very best farm system in all of baseball,
and kind of talking to him not only about you know,
(01:25):
expectations for the season, disappointment of the off season, but
how that mental side goes into this, because look, the
Seattle Mariners, you know, we can talk about that rotation.
And I was just telling Mark that I do think
they're a playoff team, just barely, but I think they
are a playoff team. A lot of players need to
bounce back, like a lot and more consistency from some
(01:47):
other players. Julio Rodriguez, I think chief among them, especially
entering his season twenty four. That believed season twenty four
is the season of a twenty four year old ye
age twenty four. Yeah, there are much high expectations for me,
and he needs to be more consistent. I think Big
Dumper also needs to be more consistent if this is
going to be a postseason team. As good as those
(02:07):
guys are, but there are a lot of players that
need to bounce back. Anders.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Yeah, it's almost to the point where it's like they
can't play much worse. There's a few of them looking
at you, and Mitch Haniger looking at you, and Mitch
Garver looking at you. Jorge Polonko, those are three guys
that are probably gonna play quite a bit of baseball
for this team unless there's another move that's made within
as you were mentioning, which I think is actually underrated
because a lot of people kind of forget that that
trade for Suarez and Winker in twenty twenty two was
(02:35):
halfway through spring training, so everyone just assumes, oh, since
we're starting spring training, the off season is over, this
is our team, and it very well could be sure,
but there's a high possibility that there still could be
something else happening.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
And that's what I was just talking to Mark with,
is that the fact that that trade did happen. In fact,
it happened while we were doing a Mollywop session, which
was very fun to break over the air. You know,
they're not gonna say, hey, there's still plenty of moves
to be made or anything like that, because it kind
of takes away their leverage. And it also, you know,
if you don't do those moves and you say stuff
like that, then again, the Mariners are kind of known
(03:07):
for saying a lot of things that don't necessarily come
to fruition. A little bit later, we're also going to
talk about because so Sunday was the Saturday Night Live
fiftieth anniversary. And I'll get this out of the way.
I am employed by NBC, so you will not hear
any super derogatory remarks towards anything in that regard because
(03:29):
I like money. Shout out Comcast Beautiful. The company has
never made a mistake. But I was watching it and
Peyton Manning was featured during some of the Q and
A stuffs, and there's been some pretty famous athletes who
have been on that show. And I want to hear
from you guys on the text line four nine four
five one the tellermore do text line.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
When it's game time, it's toy time.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
And it's gonna be tough for me because I'm not
a huge SNL guys, lean on you for that one.
But listener, send in your favorite hosts that have ever
been a part of the SNL.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
You know, families.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
We'll take advantage of this and we'll say not just hosts,
your favorite athletes have appeared in movies. And you know,
I was thinking about this because I just watched Marshaun
Lynch in a couple of movies the other day and
it's a very bad movie. But he was awesome in
a movie called Bottoms not that long ago. He's got
something to him like he has. It's so funny. He
(04:21):
has such a great stage presence for a guy who
just didn't want to talk to the media whatsoever. But
that's that's very similar to a lot of things where
you know, it's not that he can't do it, he
just doesn't want to do that. Yeah, so I'm gonna
be curious what you guys think about that. Do you
have a favorite real quick actor in mind?
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Actor?
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Any actor?
Speaker 1 (04:42):
No, I mean sports athlete. O.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
God, I don't know. I can't really think of one
off the top of my head.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
How about a favorite sports movie.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Now that I would have to go with either? Remember
the Titans? Okay, I'm also a big Glory Road fan.
Oh okay, that's a little underrated. Yeah, obviously the Field
of Dreams is a classic, but I'd have to go.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Remember the Titans. I just loved Denzel.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
So my favorite is it's everybody wants. I'm the biggest
Richard link Later fan in the entire world, and I
just that time frame college baseball. You know, you know
as a college athlete, you know that's I've never seen that.
Oh I can't recommend it enough. Okay, and not recommend
it enough, but you know, this is the time for
optimism with spring training as well, and it's I understand
(05:29):
people who just want to be negative Nelly's and I
am often one of those people. I have been known
to go on a radio show and stay they disdain
for what's been going on here. But justin min and
I talked about this on Friday that I can't help
but romanticize the start of spring training. I just can't
(05:49):
help but get excited for this, Like this was my
favorite time as a kid, because when I was a kid,
the Mariners just sucked out loud and so sing thing
like and there's I joked about this with Jess. The
Seattle Mariners and the Los Angeles Dodgers have the same
record right now, this same record, so so many things
(06:10):
can happen now, am I frustrated. Am I tired of
the lies, like flat out lies from the organization? Of course?
But are you.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Feeling the romanticism? Are you feeling excited for this?
Speaker 5 (06:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (06:21):
I am.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
I'm not a huge spring training guy. I've admittedly never
been to Peoria, so that's something that's on my bucket
list that I really want to check out eventually. But
we'll eventually get to that point. But as from following
it from home, I tend to really crank it up,
maybe the week before the opening day. Yeah, but I
ran chucking buck this morning on the morning show and
(06:43):
just hearing like they're doing their show and in the
background you can hear the cleats walking.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Well, that's what I was gonna mention because both Jess
and Danny O'Neil on Friday both said that they're one
of their favorite noise. Is hearing those cleats come down.
Oh yeah, it's on the cot. There's just something about it.
It is like, you know, you hear it in football
too a little bit. It's just not as exciting. It's
just not as exciting. It doesn't represent the same thing.
It doesn't represent the same thing at all. You know,
(07:08):
those guys are about to beat the crap out of
each other. Well, those guys are coming and don't get
me wrong, love football, but I it's just a little
bit of a different scenario. Are you an in and
out fan?
Speaker 6 (07:19):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (07:19):
No, I think Dix is far superior in every single way.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Wow yeah wow, well I Well, the reason I was
bringing up is there's an in and out burger right
next to the pure sports comment.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Really yeah, yeah, I would not go there.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
This is ridiculous. It's we are at one ten pm
and I already am wondering if Mitchell can come in.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Oh, we'll get we'll get We'll get there more. Don't
worry as we talk about USA and Canada.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Oh, I can't wait to talk about your good buddy
John toward Around.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Never met him, but sounds like a good guy.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Well yeah, well I think it's about time that we
take a little quick commercial break. Yeah. Then we talked
to Nathan and we're gonna talk about the division. We
want to take a look at the teams that's Scarison
Division Because to be honest with the Anders, this is
the most exciting thing to me is this division sucks.
Like on paper, this is not a good division. You
(08:15):
could argue it's not only the worst division of the
American League. I don't think that's close, to be honest
with you. Like taking a look at the AL Central
at Detroit and Kansas City and Cleveland and the jumps
they made, Yeah, I think it might be the worst
division in all of baseball.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
I question whether Detroit is for real again this year fair.
I think Kansas City is for real, but I could
also see a reality where they jump back down a
little bit.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
We'll see.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Why do you hate Bobby VI Jr.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
I don't hate him.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
I actually wish Julio was in and that good at
his same age season, So we'll get there.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Another person we don't hate his, Nate Bishop. We'll talk
to him next. Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
It's Monday, then that means one thing.
Speaker 7 (08:57):

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Fernets mollywat Monday, presented by Simply Seattle Say fifteen percent
off of your order with code m O l l
y W HP one five. Nathan Bishop, how's it going
with my friend?
Speaker 8 (09:37):
So nice to just have you and I here for
a change. We can finally just chat about whatever we want.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
It's so beautiful. No Washington State, by the way, that
cheese is so overrated. Like it's fine, it's fine, it's
not that good.
Speaker 8 (09:53):
It's just I mean, are you willing to take out
a home equity alone in order?
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Well, that's the other thing too, Come on, like stop being.
Speaker 8 (10:01):
So bootfulposed to be the college of the people, and
yet they're charging me just for a wheel of cheeps.
Speaker 9 (10:05):
But it's fine, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
You know what might be fine? The Seattle Mariners and Nathan,
I'd like your very fine.
Speaker 9 (10:13):
They're so fine, Chris, they're the finest baseball team in
all the land.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Talk to me about why.
Speaker 8 (10:20):
Well, we've kind of talked that nauseum about this team
over the offseason. But something that's so interesting, and you
and I have chatted about it off air, obviously is
as much as I think fans get frustrated and we
get frustrated that the Mariners haven't really done a lot
to get better this year. That's not a unique thing
for them, particularly in the American League. And I was
(10:41):
thinking before we came on air, what team that made
the playoffs last year in the American League has gotten
significantly better? Have any of them gotten significantly better?
Speaker 1 (10:51):
And I'm looking at.
Speaker 8 (10:53):
And I'm looking at projections here, And what's so interesting
is is, you know, project We've talked about projections, projections
their number, but outside of the White Sox, who are
obviously in abomination, that that's not really trying to even
go through the particle attempt to be a baseball team.
Every team in the American League, according to Fangrafts current projections,
is predicted between seventy five and eighty seven wins. That's
(11:16):
the entire American League. Chris and the Marriers are pretty
close to the top of that. Yeah, at eighty four
and a half wins, which is essentially a three way
tie between themselves, the Rangers, and the Astros. So what's
so funny is, you know, optimism always reigns supreme and
it's when it comes to this time of year, sure,
and it's so exciting to see the guys actually out
(11:37):
on the field throwing things, fielding things, hitting things. What's
so funny is that as frustrated as we've been about
this team, they're gonna have as good a chance to
win this division as any team in it.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
You know, yeah, Anders, you don't get a chance to
do this very often because you know, Ian's just I'm
not as cool a person. Your opening statement for this
fine only what Monday, Well.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Nathan and I was talking off the air, and as
much as the kind of narrative has gone so negative
with the Mariners coming into this season, probably even more
so than the last two seasons, it's just I have
this weird feeling the Mariners are just gonna kind of
put it all together randomly, put make have a couple
guys have big bounce back years and have a positive,
(12:21):
positively optimistic year to where we'll but you kind of
surprised at the end of the year, especially with how
negative the feeling is around this team right now. And
you guys mentioned that the division is so winnable at
this point, and we'll go over how each team is
a threat to the Mariners, and there still could be
some places to be worried. But I believe we're gonna
(12:41):
see a huge bounce back year from Julio Rodriguez. I
believe you're gonna see a huge bounce back year from
Jorge Polonco. You have to get more from players like
Mitch Garver and Mitch Haniger. They can't be much worse
than they were last year.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Right.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
You'll probably get some regression from Victor Roebliss. You'll probably
maybe get some regression from Raley, although there's still thoughts
that he has a higher ceiling than he showed last year.
So I think JP Crawford, you can't get much worse
than he provided last year, especially with the injuries. So
there's a lot of places where there's no real room
to be worse than you were last year. And I
(13:15):
just expect even better things from this pitching staff that's
going to continue to develop.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Molly Watt Monday, presented by Simply Seattle. Nathan Bishop joining us.
Let's talk about the division because I think that is
ultimately my top sign or my top optimism thing, because yes,
I mean, there's a bunch of people in the text
line talking about Houston being a championship contender and some
other folks. I have some questions. So I'm going to
ask both of you, on a scale of one to ten,
(13:42):
to tell me how worried you are about the Al West.
And let's start at what I believe the very bottom,
the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Nathan. On a scale
of one to ten, how worried are you about the Angels?
Speaker 9 (13:54):
Three? I actually think that their lineup is pretty fun.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
It is fun, for sure, And yeah, and as near can.
Speaker 8 (14:01):
Tell, they literally don't understand how baseball works organizational philosophy.
Not only did they not understand it, but I think
they're kind of proud of it. The American League Rockies
in that sense.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Oh, I like that, cop.
Speaker 8 (14:12):
You all are doing something, but we're going to do
our own thing and it doesn't work, but we love
it and it's ours, so we're doing it.
Speaker 9 (14:18):
So I put it at about a three.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
How about you?
Speaker 2 (14:20):
And yeah, I would probably be around that.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
I'd say three or four.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Even I still think Mike Trout if we just talked
about how he moved to right field and if that
does end up working in their way, where they think
you know he does play a full one sixty two
or anything close to that. There was a signs that
he was having a really good offensive year last year
as well. I don't think he's fallen off the map
by any means. He just has to stay healthy. And
that's a Mariner killer right there. The rest of the lineup,
(14:47):
the you know, you got some young guys thrown in there.
Their pitching is not anything to write home about, unless you,
like you say Kakuchi, which I do not. So I
I don't think they're a huge threat, but I don't
think they're going to be the team that just roll
over and be the A's of two years ago, if
you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
So what number did you pick?
Speaker 3 (15:04):
I said four?
Speaker 1 (15:04):
Okay, so and you said three? Nathan, Yes, sir oh,
I'm saying negative six. Because that franchise is it's cursed.
It's cursed. You know they got their World Series win
and ever since, you waste show Aotani, you waste Mike Trout,
you waste some other really good players, you are cursed
the artist formerly known as the Oakland Athletics. And I'll
(15:26):
have anders start on this one. On the scale of
one to ten, how worried, are you for this division?
Speaker 3 (15:30):
A little shocking?
Speaker 2 (15:31):
This is actually I think the biggest biggest threat to
the Mariners, tied with the Texas Rangers.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Interesting.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
I think the Oakland A's have a lot of room
to grow. They really invest in their team this offseason.
I like kind of locking guys up, like Brent Rooker,
because there was a lot of speculation they'd be trading him,
and they didn't do that. They kind of showed like, hey,
we're committed to this group of guys that we have,
and they're similar to the Mariners, but like they actually
showed some offensive upside last year. I still expect a
(15:58):
lot of progression from a lot of those guys on
that team, and they improve their pitching staff, which is
their one weakness from a year ago, and they were like,
if you look at their record, they weren't really that
far off, especially in the second half of the year.
I do expect Oakland to be a threat. So I'll
say five with Oakland or not even Oakland.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Theys at this point the Athletics, you know, I.
Speaker 8 (16:23):
Was gonna say five, but I'm gonna say five and
a half because having consensus is.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
No good radio.
Speaker 8 (16:27):
But you know that's being practical though, and it's the
kind of the same thing with the Angels. Like you
look at the lineup here and you go position by position,
and Sacramento actually stacks up pretty well against the Mariners.
There's not that many positions where I think the Marriers
have a clear advantage on the positional side.
Speaker 9 (16:45):
Now, yes, the A's have.
Speaker 8 (16:47):
Improved their pitching, their starting rotation, which was their biggest weakness,
but they still have nothing compared to what the Mariners
have from a one through five rotational perspective. So I'm
gonna go five and a half. I think there's more
upside there, as as Anders said, but karmically negative twenty
because if this team does what they did to the
(17:08):
fans in Oakland for their last two years then and
then decides to invest in the product on the field
the second they leave, they deserve absolutely.
Speaker 9 (17:16):
No good outcomes from this whatsoever. I hope there's one
hundred and thirty games.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Nathan. I want to thank you too for not saying
five point four, because it was right there, and I
just really appreciate you.
Speaker 9 (17:27):
We're a high brow program.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
Hanging through we are we are basically frasier like you
know I have the same amount here, correct, Kelsey Grammar,
you know you're my full Ye, I'm sorry that you have.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
To be my.
Speaker 9 (17:42):
Yeah, I'm a neurotic mess.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
I see it for sure. Molly wat Monday presented by
Simply Seattle, joined by Nathan Bishop. Let's go to the
Texas Rangers and I, oh, by the way, my number
four Oakland would probably be about a six because I
think that not only are they a pesky little and
they've got some really talented players. The Mariners have beat
the crap out of the A's over the last few years,
(18:05):
and that talent is on the rise, even if they're
not competing for the division. It's something I worry about
that the A's finally getting a little bit of their
come up into a different way.
Speaker 8 (18:15):
Now.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
I'm like you, if they went one in one hundred
and sixty one, I would be extremely happy because just
John Fisher, if you are somehow listening to this, just
eat a big old bag of unbaked chocolate, like you
are a horrific human being and you deserve only the
worst things. But I do think that they do have
a chance to give the Mariners some trouble, even if
they're not necessarily competing for the Division. Texas Ranger is
(18:39):
not that long removed from being a World Series winning team.
I think this one's pretty obvious that there's a lot
of ways to go. But Nathan, how worried are you
about this team? Mainly because if that starting pitching is healthy,
it could be really good. But I don't think there's
a bigger if in all of baseball.
Speaker 8 (18:58):
I think, yeah, that's it's the Vega's extreme. It's got
to be the biggest wind spread of any team in
the division. And it's so crazy too. They two years
ago they had basically the if it all goes right
circumstance with their offense, where they basically got a career
year out of every hitter in their lineup, and it
obviously catapulted them to the World Series. And then last
(19:18):
year they had so much regression, so much injury concern,
and you've got another year on Marcus Simon and Corey Seer,
who are not particularly young guys, or Adolas Garcia. They're
young guys who had came in with a lot of
hype haven't really quite popped in the way that we
thought they might last year. But that doesn't mean that
they won't do that this year, and I could definitely
I think it's safe to say I would expect the
(19:40):
Rangers offense to be better than last year, if not
as good as it was two years ago. And then
you hit it right there, Chris, it's the spread on
the starting rotation. The upside for this rotation is very high,
but the injury concern.
Speaker 9 (19:53):
Is even higher somehow than that.
Speaker 8 (19:57):
So I think if I had to bet, though, I
I think that this is if one team in the
American League West is going to win ninety five or
more games this year, I think it's.
Speaker 9 (20:06):
The Texas Rangers that have the best chance of.
Speaker 8 (20:08):
Doing so, So I would probably put them as the biggest.
Speaker 9 (20:11):
Threats to the marriage. Could have been a full like
eight eight and a half threat meter, how about you?
Speaker 2 (20:15):
And so, Yeah, it's tough for me. Other than Jacob
de Grom, who's a huge question mark. I mean, I
guess you could expect development from Jack Lighter, who was
once one of the bigger, you know, prospects in baseball
players like Kumar Rocker. Yeah, I just don't know if
like the likelihood of him making the team right off
that that you did get a down year from Evan Carter,
(20:37):
which I think he's going to bounce back this year
Corey Seeger. They added Jake Berger and Jock Peterson, who
are two players that I was actually kind of eye
in and as a DH spot for the Mariners this
past offseason. Yeah who and those types of players mash
in that lineup I think is a perfect kind of offensive,
rounded team. But I just I have so many questions
(20:58):
about the pitching that I almost think because of how
volatile that is, it's I'm gonna say even with the
Oakland or he keeps saying Oakland, but the A's I'm
gonna say five, because I don't think that they're really
gonna put together a full season and if they do,
maybe get hot off the rip, but then they're inevitably
one of their guys is gonna get injured. And I
(21:18):
just I don't see the high end pitching that you
need to have a full, like balanced team that the
Rangers have.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
And I'll be curious to see if they get off
to a poor start, how aggressive they are, because they
do have a really good farm system. We are a
team and they have been one of the more aggressive teams.
They have gone out and gotten really good players. It's
one of the reasons why they end up putting the
World Series is a couple of those moves they make,
including for Max Scherzer. And you know, I take a
look at that pitching staff and I think it's capable
(21:46):
of doing anything. I love that lineup. Like Josh Young's
coming back. I think Josh Young's gonna be a guy
who helps them a lot. I thought the Nate Low
trade was a little bit of a weird one, but
I think I prefer Jake Berger like and Jock Peterson
is right handed pitching mashes. He is a goofy, goofy,
goofy dude wearing those wearing those Wilma Flintstone pearls. Baby,
(22:08):
but he is a really good hitter against right handed pitching.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
I think I'm going seven.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
It's just kind of you know, you can't ignore the
version that you saw in twenty twenty three. I also
think it's worth pointing out that I think they have
the best manager in the division. I think that Bruce
Bochie is all the respect to Dan Wilson. He could
he get there someday, sure, but he's definitely better than
Ron Washington. He's definitely better. So far than I just
forgot Oakland's manager. He played Marcotte, and I would put
(22:37):
him over What's Houston's got going on? If Dusky Baker
was still there would be a little bit different. But
he is that type of guy that players play hard for.
And while I think Dan Wilson could be that guy
as well, I don't think you can completely ignore it.
Molly wat Monday, presented by Simply Seattle, Chris Crawford and
for Ian for Ness, Let's end with our favorite baseball team,
the Houston Astros, the thorn in our side, the bane
(23:02):
of our existence. The I just hate him. I just
hate him. I'm supposed to be like a like impartial dude,
and you know I work.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
It's a local radio show.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Well that's true, but you know, like I said, those
Comcast checks suggest that I'm supposed to be a different
way sometimes as well. But Nathan, how worried are you
about the Houston Astros in twenty twenty five?
Speaker 8 (23:25):
So I try to not be actually a very hot,
taky guy that way. When I have them, I feel
like I can kind of like actually use those bols preparingly,
but they have some impact. I think that the Houston
Astros are done. I'm putting a four in this franchise
this year. They had such a garbage off season. Yes,
they added I did create a but they traded Kyle
(23:47):
Tucker on purpose, their best hit from last year. They
lost Alex Bragman to the Boston Red Sox, and there's nobody.
The thing is, there's nobody coming in to replace that
level of talent, which was already an increase, sely aging
and risky and rickety. Roster is pretty much Jordan Alvarez
and then the like ever rapidly decaying career of Pose
(24:09):
Altuve at this point. Not saying al tou Bay is
bad now, but he's definitely past his prime in declining.
The rest of this roster has strong for late twenty
tens at Seattle Mariners vibes. I've got Ben Gammel on
this roster. Hooper humble, Yeah, Taylor Treml, who we like
at we love, who there to be a threat.
Speaker 9 (24:30):
This team is not going to win more than eighty
five games this year. I just don't see how they're
going to do it.
Speaker 8 (24:36):
Unless they completely pull a rabbit out of their hat
with their rotation, which I just don't see. And you
know their organization has been gutted. They've gutted that farm,
that front office system that was a buzz saw cutting
through the American League for a decade. They basically just
have a dictator of an owner who's making all of
the baseball decisions. Now is pretty clear that they're not
wanting to spend money the way they were wanting to
(24:57):
spend money. Their farm system is not good. They just
two of their best players. I just don't see it.
I'm putting them below the A's this year. I've given
them like a four.
Speaker 9 (25:05):
How about you?
Speaker 3 (25:06):
And yeah, I would even go lower.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
I love the hot take from Nathan I was I
don't know, famously infamously I thought this would happen last year.
I was just a year ahead on the Houston Astros
because I think they are done this, the dynasty's over.
I've had my questions. Even I know they've signed Christian
Walker and I think he would have fit in well
with the Mariners. I still don't know if that really
(25:30):
raises their ceiling at all. Like I think there's a
definite a possibility for regression there. I don't think Estoc
Perettas is all that he had some weird metrics that
made it seem like, you know, he was just kind
of a short portraitter, which I guess they do have
that in Houston. Now, Jordan's still great. I think Jeremy
Pinya is a good shortstop. But their pitching is just
not good. And that's what really made them so good
(25:52):
for so long. And then the last couple of years
they weren't dominant because they the pitching wasn't as good,
but the offense was at least there, And now that's
even gone to where, like Nate just said, Taylor Tremill
is probably gonna be starting for them an opening day,
which is wild unless you throw in Jake Myers or
Chas McCormick in that outfield. So I don't know John
Singleton at first feed. There's just not a lot that
(26:13):
excites me about this team and the fram Ervaldez of
the world. That's probably their one good pitcher that I
can trust. I don't think Hunter Brown's gonna have as
good of a year as he did last year. Josh Hater,
there's a lot of questions about him. Sure, I just
don't think that this team's all that good. I'm gonna
say it two for the Houston Astros, I think they
are the second worst team in the division.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
I could go either way here, and it's partially because
I look at them one through six and I really
like this lineup. Al Tuvey, Sure, Paradez Alvarez, Walker, ener Diez,
Jeremy Panya. I think that's a really good one through six.
I look at Hunter Brown and the improvement he made
in the second half of the season, and he is
a former top prospect. I look at fran Ravaldez. I'm boy,
(26:54):
it would have been silly for them to trade him,
by the way. But I also look at the bottom
of that lineup right now. According to Fangrafts, that depth
chart for the outfield is Chas McCormick, Ben Gammel and
Jake Myers. That's the worst outfield that I think there
is in baseball right now. Which, by the way, there
is talk of Jose Altuve playing left field over Under
on one robbed home run from that five foot four.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Nice player, you try to say something so different, Yes,
definitely under on that one.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
Yeah, how about you, Nathan oh.
Speaker 9 (27:27):
Under We're making a hip joke, right, yes, Under.
Speaker 8 (27:31):
Yeah, you can't get he can't get his glove defense.
Speaker 9 (27:35):
There's no way.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
I'm gonna put him at a six. I just think that,
you know, I'd still do like that bullpen hater Abreu Taylor, Scott,
Brian King killibor. There's talent there. You know, Rafael Montero
has been kind of a more disaster than good there.
Part of this is, you know, just PTSD seeing this
team be so good for so long. I need to
(27:57):
see them not be good. And you know what, I
kind of saw them not be good against the Detroit
Tigers in that playoff.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Scape so bad.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
They were really bad in that series. So maybe that's
what we're talking about. But look, what we just talked
about is not scary. This is not a division full
of and look, the Mariners have a ton of holes,
a ton of holes, and there are rotas.
Speaker 9 (28:18):
We're going to rank the Mariners.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Yeah, well and that's let's do it. Let's just to
close out the segment. Where where are you putting the
Seattle Mariners on that one for ten scale?
Speaker 8 (28:27):
Gosh, man, I think I'm putting them right around like
a five and a half to a six.
Speaker 9 (28:30):
I struggle so much.
Speaker 8 (28:33):
We've talked about it that noge, we don't need to
break it down the way we did all the other teams.
But I struggle so much with the floor for this
positional group. You guys, there's so much here that needs
to go right for this positional group to be a
good playoff contending positional group. Sure to take some combination
of JP bounce back, Courtey Polanco, bounce back.
Speaker 9 (28:51):
Julio, and breakthrough.
Speaker 8 (28:53):
You need Mitch Garber to bounce back, Luke Rayley to
adapt to first base. You need Mitch Hanniger to somehow
produce some kind of value, Victor Roblest to hold on
to a career year last year at least somewhat, Randy
of rose Reina to play a little less field as
seemingly possible because he's not a good defensive player.
Speaker 9 (29:09):
There's just so many ifs that if they had even
an app even a.
Speaker 8 (29:14):
Just simply a good starting rotation, I don't think that
I could feel confident at all. But they have that eighth,
that literal ace in the hole, which is that one
through five depth that no other baseball team probably.
Speaker 9 (29:27):
Has in their rotation.
Speaker 8 (29:28):
And I think that, combined with the upside of guys
like Julio like having arguably the best catcher in baseball,
as cal Rawley puts them at about a five and
a half into six. I really do think they're about
neck andneck with the Rangers. It's just a completely different
way those teams are constructed.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
Andre's I'm gonna have you answer that in the two
o'clock ASTs at Nathan, You're the best. Tell everyone about
the light that real quick?
Speaker 9 (29:49):
Okay? Yeah?
Speaker 8 (29:50):
The like that dot substack dot com. It's a twice
weekly newsletter. This is a bad week for that. I'm
only gonna be posting once this week because I'm out
of sound Lazy free subscription and it would mean the
world to me if you would indulge me with a subscription.
Speaker 9 (30:03):
Thanks so much.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
You're the best, my friend. We'll talk to you soon.
Speaker 9 (30:07):
Thanks, guys, you bet well.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
It's going to take a quick, little little break. We
have Andy McKay Mariner VP, coming up next on Sports
Radio ninety three point three kid JRFIM and joining us
now on the Begon Plumbing Hotline. Start a spring training
and a great chance to catch up with someone who
definitely knows what's going on down there, Mariner Vice President
(30:30):
and Assistant general Manager, Andy McKay. Andy, Thank you so
much for taking the time to talk to us.
Speaker 6 (30:37):
Yeah, of course, appreciate you having me on.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Oh you bet.
Speaker 4 (30:39):
Is this an exciting time for you?
Speaker 1 (30:41):
Like I imagine that's probably an obvious answer, but like,
how much do you look forward to the starting spring training?
Speaker 6 (30:47):
Yeah, that is the obvious. That the easiest question here.
It's such a great time. You know, you're undefeated. Everybody
feels good, you know, the vibes, the energy, the weather,
and most important is the thing that people think about
is like we're all together in the same building for
(31:07):
you know, almost six seven weeks, which we know, which
never happens during the season. I don't have to get
on the airplane for six weeks. Oh wow, and my
phone doesn't ring because we're all here together. So it's yeah,
it's a great time and thrilled to be here when.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
You're starting up with the spring training stuff. Just how
much like is it full go? Is it kind of
a and you know pitchers and catchers have been already there,
but is it full go? Is it like player development
beginning now or is it more of a you know,
we take it day by day. It's a long spring training.
How does that process work?
Speaker 6 (31:45):
Yeah, well, it is. It is full go, but it's
it's just a continuation of player development that is a
year round, ongoing thing. So it's just kind of a
different phase. You know, our players show up having done
a lot of work. Many players, you know, get here
weeks and months beforehand. Some players don't leave, and so
(32:09):
you know, for some players, really nothing's changed other than
there's just more people here. But you just kind of
you have the rhythm of the season and this one
is obviously ramping up towards playing games here very shortly,
and then through those games become you know, real games
where guys are playing nine innings and pictures are going
deeper and your relievers are you know, being used in
(32:33):
their appropriate roles. But it's just it's just another phase
of it, I guess, is the way I would put it.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
Any McKay joining us on the Beacon Plumbing Hotline, I
wanted to ask you. I'm sure you saw that there
was an article written by Mike Petrelio talking about the
difficulty that is hitting in t Mobile Park, and you know,
as a guy who has you know, worked with players,
the mental approach for that is that something that can
be a just for players when they see stuff like
(33:01):
that or is that just something that you know, us
in the media are talking about. But can that be
a mental distraction for players?
Speaker 6 (33:10):
Oh? Absolutely, And you know, I feel like I'm fairly
well prepared for it. My my my two major league
jobs are the Colorado Rockies and now the Mariners. So
I mean, people talking about things like this, and you know,
for me, you know, you kind of call it out.
It's the elephant in the room. So let's kind of
(33:31):
bring it to life a little bit and take it
from being crazy thoughts in people's minds to something we
can actually talk about rationally, you know, and understand. But
it is a choice, and it's your choice as to
how you view it and how you think about it.
And just like any you know, I guess odd home field,
(33:55):
there are there are players that really thrive in it. Sure,
there's players it seemed to be hurt by it. Road
teams and it doesn't seem to have any issues. But
for me, it always comes down to, on any given day,
there's two teams playing on the same field, the only
advantages who could deal with whatever better. So whether you're
(34:20):
you know, you're playing in Saint Louis in August and
it's one hundred and five.
Speaker 9 (34:24):
With one hundred percent humidity.
Speaker 6 (34:26):
Both teams are.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
Dealing with it.
Speaker 6 (34:27):
Sure if you're in Colorado mile high in the snow,
both teams are playing in it. And whatever the factors
that are going on, it just comes down to the
athlete and how his perception of it and the story
he tells himself about it. And that's really our big focus.
And you know, whether it's it's Edgar, Edgar's lived it,
(34:48):
Dan's lived it, you know, they have their own experiences
and their ways of thinking it through and and so
we try to communicate these things with our players.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
Andy McCain joining us on the Beacon Plumbing Hotline. Jorge
polonco back after a player option was declined, and it
would be I think fair to say that his first
season in Seattle didn't go as well as we'd liked. Andy,
what makes you confident that Jorge Polanco is going to
be the player that we saw prior to his first
year with Seattle.
Speaker 6 (35:21):
Yeah, I think it just starts with the person, and
you you know, as we got to know him last year,
you're just talking about a you know, a wonderful human
being or who cares about his teammates, he cares about
the organization. He's driven to be really good, and you know,
once you kind of check those boxes, you have every
(35:43):
reason to be confident and optimistic. It didn't work out
last year the way that he had wanted it to,
so now you're coming back and one you have improved health.
You know, he had the surgery to address what he.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
Was dealing with.
Speaker 6 (36:00):
But the one thing that people I think tend to
minimize is, you know, new City, new teammates, knew everything
that can be really hard on people. And and I'm
not even necessarily saying this was true of him. You
would have to ask him that. But you know, relocations
hard people, and so it's not it's not just me.
(36:25):
I think everybody's very confident. But there you're going to
see a different version of him, and and we're all
here to support him out over he can, and we
absolutely do believe in him, not only the person and
a teammate, but as the player.
Speaker 1 (36:40):
With situations with guys like Mitch Hanneger, Mitch Garver, Jorge
Polanco not playing up to their standards, do is Spring
trending a fresh start or is it more about finding
the version of that player that they were prior to that.
Which one is more readily apparent for the start of spring.
Is it that guy who has had six as before
(37:00):
or is it just about a clean slate and trying
to get the season started at a much better level.
Speaker 6 (37:06):
Yeah, it's individualized for people, and there's there's kind of
multiple versions of it. There's the rebuild myself and find
a better, newer version of myself to go compete with,
and that can be effective. It can be just get
away from the game and decompress and get a clean slate.
(37:31):
That can work, But I think the most common one
is is rediscovering what's already inside of you. And I
know this is going to sound very esoteric, I'm going
to say it anyways. It's kind of like, you know,
the sun is always shining, it's just sometimes there's clouds
in front of it. But the sun hasn't gone anywhere.
(37:54):
And for professional athletes, those skills have not gone anywhere.
They don't disappear. And obviously when you talk about age,
just at some point that kicks in, but you know,
the skills are still there and it's just kind of uncluttering.
Usually I'm not usually always the mind and getting back
(38:17):
to clarity about who I am and what I'm capable of,
and and really knowing that nothing has changed. I still
know how to hit, I still know how to pitch,
and so there's there's.
Speaker 9 (38:31):
Those are kind of the your three key.
Speaker 6 (38:32):
Paths to you know, getting back to to your previous
level of performance.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
Andy, You're the best. Thank you so much for taking
the time to talk to us. Hope we can catch
up later in the year.
Speaker 6 (38:44):
Game time.
Speaker 9 (38:45):
Thank you you bet.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
Take a quick commercial break. We'll react to those comments
and talk about some SNL stuff on Sports Radio ninety
three point three KJRFM.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Now from the.
Speaker 7 (38:56):
Start, runtals Sports to us your ninety three point three
kJ r FM sports.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
Head lines headlines brought to you by Frost Coors Light
Choose Chill. Mariners report to spring training today. Got a
chance to talk to Nathan Bishop. We had a chance
to talk to Ay McKay. A lot of fun. We'll
go over those comments next. Chuck and Buck are live
from spring training all week from six to ten am.
Four Nations Faceoff continues today after the USA beat the
(39:21):
USA beat Canada on Saturday three to one after three
fights in the first nine seconds. Canada beat Finland this
morning to advance to the final versus USA on Thursday.
I want to talk to Andres about something that could
have been really funny that could have happened from that
game US for Sweden. This evening at five pm, NBA
All Star Weekend wrapped up. Apparently Team Shack beat Team
(39:42):
Chuck forty one to twenty five, who was confusing as heck,
and I just know everyone's mad at Kevin Hart. Matt
mclung becomes the first player to threepeat in the Dunk
Contest on Saturday. I really do love basketball. I really
wish somebody averaging more than a point of game was
in the Dunk Contest.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
Ka.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
I'm not a fan of the NBA Also Weekend, but
I like how someone who doesn't do anything else but dunk.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
And he's really really good at it. Mike Chaut report
Mike Trout reportedly switching to right field in an effort
to keep him healthy. We'll see, we shall see. Hey,
speaking of we shall see, that didn't work at all.
Speaker 7 (40:18):
Let's go Aters Live from the R and R Foundation
Specialist Broadcast studio. Back to Ian Furness Power Advice, Seattle's
closest sports book Snow call me Casino. On Sports Radio
ninety three point three kJ R FM.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
Chris Crawford in for Ian Forness. We really want to
thank Andy McKay for taking the time to talk to us,
because this is a crazy busy time for him, and
you know, I think he's a fascinating dude, just because
of the mental side of baseball is something that I
don't think that is easy to quantify, and I think
he does a pretty good job of it. You know,
I think that he does a pretty good job of
(40:57):
breaking down you know how important that is. And like,
especially with you know, or Haye Polanco and so many
players coming off just atrocious seasons, I think the mental
side of that, getting those guys in the right mindset,
even though we can't really proven anders is pretty dark important.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
Yeah, And I like how he kind of talks about
it in that way because he sees that every day, sure,
and that's kind of his job, as you were pointing
out to me in the break, And I think those
are important parts that a lot of fans just look
at stats and yeah, like they associate a player with
what they've done with stats, and you know, there's a
lot of different factors that go into what make those stats.
(41:35):
And then you know, there's a lot of reasons why
players that move after being there in their whole career
in one place and then move to another place end
up probably struggling for more than one reason.
Speaker 3 (41:45):
Sure, a lot of it.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
It's the ballpark, which we've talked about, yep, but it's
also just like a comfort factor. Yeah, he's been in
Minnesota for like probably eight nine years at that point. Yeah, yeah,
so I think that can be something that maybe he
gets a little bit more comfortable. And the injury also
didn't help. So I think it was just a multitude
of things for Polanco specifically that I think we'll see
(42:09):
a better version of him next year. Although it's going
to be interesting because even before Seattle, his strikeout rate
was climbing each each time or each season, So there
was maybe some signs that this was coming, but I
don't think anyone expected it to be kind of that
strugglesome for him.
Speaker 1 (42:27):
No, I don't think anyone could have predicted that. And look,
the Mariners might have gotten a little bit lucky here
that Gabriel Gonzalez, the top prospect of the trade, did
not play very well for Minnesota justin Topa did not
have a good season, really didn't have a season altogether.
But that doesn't mean it was a good move. And
I totally get why everyone is pessimistic about this because
(42:48):
it went about as poorly as possible and you know,
a bounce back season. What are we talking about here,
because you can't get worse. If it's worse, then just
move it to the there's issues, yeah, like the burial
grounds gotta go, like it's gotta go, because there's just
no way he can be this bad, I say, knowing
(43:12):
being a Seattle Mariner for this, so just how bad
things get?
Speaker 2 (43:14):
My question for you is do you have Because the
only reason I was as frustrated with the Polanco signing
as as I was, I think it was in hindsight,
like looking at it a good move looking forward towards
it when it happened, I think it was like I
was excited for him to be a Seattle Mariner. I
still would not have traded al Suarez from now. I
(43:36):
know they didn't trade, but they basically did because they
did caught ten million dollars to basically just salary dumb
Suarez onto the Diamondbacks and then they but they kind
of did the same thing with adding a prospect on
to get poor he Pilonco, and that's kind of where
you shifted things. So that was the tough part for me,
(43:57):
is seeing Suarez be so good for air Zona last year,
and he's been one of the only additions that you've
had offensively that's right worked years.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
There's just no doubt about it. And there's also look,
Jorge Polanco is not considered a horrible guy in the clubhouse,
but a Johann Suarez is a leader. He's the guy,
and I think they really missed that leadership last year.
And I don't know if they have that guy. Like
asking Julio Rodriguez to become that guy, I think is
asking a lot. It's certainly something he could develop into.
(44:30):
But players don't like listening to twenty four year olds.
Players like that veteran presence. They like that guy who
has been around, had his ups and downs. There's just
something more tangible to it. And you know, I a
bunch of techs on the four nine four five one
when it's game time, it's total time, a bunch of
techs suggesting that I'm speaking for ownership, which is just
(44:52):
absolutely hilarious to me, like hilarious, and it goes to
show that a lot of you don't know who I am.
I'm Chris Crawford's very nice to meet Hi. That trade's embarrassing.
That trade and the Jared kel Nick trade, even with
kell Nick having a poor end to a season and
poor understatement, that's an embarrassing trade. And John Stanton should
be ashamed of himself for making Jerry Depoto make those
(45:16):
two trades, because let's just be completely clear here, those
moves do not happen if John Stanton doesn't say this
guy needs to go and this guy needs to go,
And in this case, it wasn't Jared Kellnick has to go,
it was you need to find a way. I am
not paying Evan White. I am not paying Evan White
to be a member of the Seattle Mariners. I am
not paying Marco Gonzalez if he's not going to be
a part of our starting rotation. It's embarrassing.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
Those were complete salary dumpson I feel like the Suarez
one was like, I'm gonna try and get you Suarez's
salary on Polanco because I feel like I'll strike out
last because that was the whole directive going into last season.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
Well, but let's remember who they had as the opening
day third baseman. That was Oh yeah, that's right. But
who was supposed to platoon with him was the Luis
Arius move. And that was a disaster, right, a disaster
and you know that trades honestly a little bit embarrassing.
The Red Sox were gonna non tender it. Yeah, they
could have gotten him for basically free, which is just
(46:10):
I don't know. Now, Anders, I wanted you to give
your number. Oh yeah, for those of us who missed,
we talked on Molly wat Monday and I had Nathan
give his number for excitement for the Seattle Mariners. What's
your number, buddy?
Speaker 2 (46:23):
In terms, this would be my number in terms of
like confidence level of winning the division. So that's kind
of where I was going with the other ones too.
It was kind of mid with the Rangers and the Athletics. Yeah,
I think the Mariners is significantly higher. So I'm gonna
give him a seven.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
Okay, but.
Speaker 2 (46:44):
That the reason why this offseason is so bad is
not because of the likelihood the Mariners win the division.
It's because that window is so wide open. Not just
in the division, but in the whole American League, right
to grab it by the horn, looking for someone to
kind of start their dynasty. As Houston's falling off now
as we're seeing that's why the window was so open
(47:08):
to just kind of take that next step instead of, oh,
you know, since everyone else is coming down, that gives
us a better chance, right, Yeah, that's when you go
up a level and start to increase your game and
make sure that you are going to playoffs. We should
be a bona fide playoff team and then gearing up
for what happens in the postseason. But we're just not
at this point, even with the bad division. So that's
(47:30):
what's frustrating for me. But I still think they are
the favorite in the division. I really think the Mariners are.
Speaker 1 (47:35):
Yeah, I think it's damning with faint price, but I
do think that they are, yeah, favorite in the division.
We're curious what you think four nine four or five
to one. Let us know. So SNL the Big Sunday Show,
I had, my entire timeline was talking about this thing.
And you know, SNL a program that's obviously been on
for fifty years, because it was the fiftieth anniversary and
(47:57):
I went over what I believe are the best athlete
hosts of all time. It is not a strong list.
There are some really bad ones. Michael Phelps was trash,
Derek Jeter was bad. There's been a lot of bad ones,
but there's been really two really good ones. Number one
is Peyton Manning and is not even close. And Peyton
(48:18):
Manning's sket sket his yeah, he's had to see His
United Way commercial is one of the best SNL sports
things they've ever done. It's one of the funniest things
I have ever seen. Number two for me would probably
be Jordan. I don't know if you've seen the Michael
JORDANSNL before.
Speaker 5 (48:39):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (48:40):
The the Bear's characters have a really good sketch with him.
He has some pretty good comedic timing. Now I think
the writing helps him more. Peyton Manning is just a
funny dude. It's not him.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
Being like commercials.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
He's terrific.
Speaker 3 (48:53):
Peyton Manning, He's terrific.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
And you know, I all due respect to Joe Buck
and all the respect to Troy Aikman. I watched the
Man cast every time, like every single time, because Number
one actually learned something from those guys, it's been a
while since I've learned something from And look, I know
Troy Aikman isn't the worst, and I don't think Joe
Bucket is the worst either. I do not enjoy him
(49:16):
for baseball at all, really, but I do think that
you can do a heck of a lot.
Speaker 3 (49:21):
Worse like Tom Brady.
Speaker 1 (49:23):
But I think that my personal favorite of those guys exactly. Well,
I hate you, broadcast, gosh, And you know, honestly, I
don't feel bad for tom Brady because of the money
he was given, but talk about not putting someone in
position to succeed, and let's be honest here, this is
Tony Romo's fault. Tony Romo predicting the plays and being
(49:46):
as natural at it fun and fun. You know, I
get tired of the ball Jim a little bit too,
but it's fun, it's fun. I have a good time
listening to him. I am bored to death. Seriously, listen
to Tom Brady.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
It's crazy, and like, I actually like Kevin Burkhart normally,
but he's even worse yea with Tom Brady.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
It's so weird. Totally agree, Yeah, totally agree. So any way,
back to SNL.
Speaker 1 (50:10):
Back to SNL and more importantly, since you're not a
big SNL guy, can you think of that sports actor
in a movie or TV show that really stands out
to you.
Speaker 2 (50:18):
It's hard for me because I can't really because you're twelve. No,
I'm twenty seven. But I was gonna say lately, there
haven't been a lot of athletes.
Speaker 1 (50:28):
No, that's a good point.
Speaker 2 (50:28):
It was more like the eighties and nineties where they
kind of dabbled in that a little bit more fair. Uh,
you mentioned the Marshawn Lynch one. I still haven't really
seen him anything that's like really good. So for me,
I had to have to kind of look up a
list and be like, oh, that's right, I remember that one.
But I'll turn it back on you. Who's your favorite
athlete appearance in an acting role?
Speaker 1 (50:50):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (50:50):
That movie?
Speaker 1 (50:51):
That's a really good question. For a while, it was
a certain guy who was in Naked Gun. And you
know what, when you murder people, well, it becomes less
exciting to see OJ Simpson on television. If I'm being
one hundred percent honest with you, it's a little easier
for me to pick out the bad ones. I watched
Entourage a lot as a kid, like a lot, a lot.
(51:12):
And Phil Mickelson maybe the worst actor I've seen in
that show. And that's saying we are both New Girl fans.
Clayton Kershaw. New Girl was awful, Oh awful.
Speaker 3 (51:25):
The fact that I even forgot he was on it.
Speaker 4 (51:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (51:27):
Well, and that was that Super Bowl show and I
always will remember that one because I didn't get to
watch that because that was the year that the Seahawks
won the Super Bowl. And at first I was like, well,
it's kind of annoying, I'd like to watch it, and
then I was like, oh, you idiot, I want to
watch every single thing that we can do. Yeah, I
would have to go with Phil Mickelson is the worst, Okay. Yeah.
(51:50):
And some people texting in that The Rock. I think
The Rock is really charismatic and he's good for that
type of thing. I don't think SNL and wrestling are
all that different, Like it's live entertainment. You know, they're
given scripts before they start. It's not that big of
a difference. So I would, you know, I kind of
struggle calling WWE a sport. If I'm being completely honest
(52:10):
with you, it's it's it's entertaining. I respect the heck
out of him. But it's just like Daytona, which, by
the way, maybe we should have talked about Daytona in
the headlines. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. It's just
not that interesting to me.
Speaker 2 (52:23):
I just looked one up and I totally forgot about this.
But Ray Allen, oh yeah, oh, Ray Allen is so
good and he got Gid exactly.
Speaker 1 (52:31):
He's so good.
Speaker 3 (52:32):
And that was kind of before he was big.
Speaker 2 (52:34):
Oh yeah, so like in the Local Guy too, or
not local, but he played for a local team. But yeah,
I totally forgot about that one. And I love He
Got Game. That's a great movie. He Got Game is awesome.
Speaker 1 (52:45):
Denzel a decent basketball player, I think in that movie.
You know, I so I am a big watching mechanics
of sports things. I just can't help it, you know.
And sometimes it's very clear when somebody is stepping in
for them, and there's times where they don't step in
for him and it looks really, really bad. Yeah, but
I believed that, you know, he could hoop a little bit. Yeah,
(53:08):
that's especially impressive going up against like a legitimate top
one hundred NBA player.
Speaker 3 (53:13):
Yeah, yeah, I'd say.
Speaker 1 (53:15):
Yeah, one of my all time favorites. Y yeah, yeah,
do you have a favorite Sonic? But he's my favorite Sonic?
Speaker 2 (53:20):
Okay, I know everyone, like everyone kind of my age
leans into the Kevin Durant because he's still playing and
like you can watch him. But I I I grew
up with like the early two thousand Sonics when they
were still a playoff contender with Nate McMillan as our coach.
You got Rischhard Lewis, ray Allen, Chris Wilcox, all those guys.
Speaker 3 (53:39):
Daniels.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
Yeah, that was a fun team and I actually went
to a few playoff games during their four year I
believe it was we lost to the Spurs. Oh yeah,
that was a good series. That was a good series. Yes,
And I like that ray Allen's just so fun to
watch it. And I even loved watching his career after with
the Celtics win a couple there and then win one
with the Heats.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
So yeah, yeah, I'm like that form is just so
pretty to watch.
Speaker 3 (54:03):
Oh yeah, like he was shooting was he was shooting before?
It was cool?
Speaker 1 (54:08):
Yeah, that's a good question. I can't help but wonder
what guys like ray Allen and Dale Ellis and Reggie
Miller could have done in today's NBA because you know,
they were taking a lot of threes, but they would
be taking a lot more threes in today's game. For
better or for work. Reggie Miller not a great actor
him in a few things. Also not my favorite announcer,
(54:28):
if I'm being forward with you.
Speaker 3 (54:30):
Yeah, I don't hate him.
Speaker 2 (54:32):
I don't think he's a great announcer. It definitely is.
No like I ad met, like I love Steve Kerr. Yeah, coach, sure,
but him as an announcer was so good, unreal.
Speaker 1 (54:42):
So good. And I think we're a little bit. Did
you play the sports games where he used to advice
as well? Yeah, See, this is one thing Ian would
never talk about. In fact, when I we were talking
about NCAA football, he was like, thank god, you guys
are doing it.
Speaker 3 (54:56):
No desire to talk about that stuff.
Speaker 1 (54:59):
Yeah, you know, it's it's a hard transition, I think,
to go from athletes anything to acting. I think acting
is a really difficult thing.
Speaker 3 (55:07):
It's really hard.
Speaker 1 (55:08):
Like just even reading scripts like this, you know, is
kind of like, you know, we're not acting, but you know,
adding a little.
Speaker 3 (55:14):
Well, you're reading a script. I didn't write you one.
Speaker 1 (55:15):
Well, yes you did, but did real quick. I wanted
to talk to you about the most petty thing that
the USA could have done. So if Finland would have
lost an overtime team USA is lost to Sweden tonight,
could have not Canada out. Would you lose intentionally?
Speaker 3 (55:35):
Yeah, I would have done that.
Speaker 2 (55:37):
I mean, I'm saying they would. US wants to play
Canada again, especially those guys like they are dudes. But
I am such a Canada hater that I wanted them
to not even be in the final and be like, haha,
not your sport. So because as as our friend Mike
Benton tells us all the time, it is like they
are very adamant that it's like their support. And it
(56:00):
reminds me a lot of honestly, and this is why
I do the same thing in soccer. It reminds me
whenever England do anything in a tournament that ever they
say it's coming home. No, the home of football soccer
is not England, like, there's no home for it. It's
the world's games. So there's a reason why they have
not won anything since nineteen sixty.
Speaker 1 (56:19):
All right, it's coming home.
Speaker 2 (56:20):
The same kind of thing I get with with Canada
with hockey too. They haven't one of Stanley Cup since
the nineties.
Speaker 1 (56:26):
So Cole Palmer is going to score fourteen goals at
the next World Cup and everything's gonna work out.
Speaker 3 (56:31):
Man, We'll see, we'll see what happens.
Speaker 1 (56:33):
Well, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (56:36):
Us might be better than them, is you really think so? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (56:39):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (56:40):
Yeah that is, especially with the new coach. Yes, that is.
Speaker 1 (56:44):
We both love that higher for sure. All right, let's
take a look at your text after we take a
quick little break. Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM.
Speaker 7 (56:54):
Live from the R and R Foundation specialists broadcast studio
back to Ian for powered by Seattle's Closest sports book,
Snow call me Casino on Sports Radio ninety three point
three kJ r FM.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
Well, Chris Crawford in Free and for Nest. But we
almost forgot to do something anders and we used to
feel bad about it.
Speaker 3 (57:17):
Yeah we should.
Speaker 1 (57:18):
Happy birthday, Jessamine McIntyre, that right, it is her birthday.
Enjoy your vacation, have fun. You are one of my
favorite people. You root for a college football team that
I absolutely despise. Well, you know she wants them to win.
That's better ratings and stuff like that. But she does
(57:38):
a great job with I.
Speaker 2 (57:41):
Ever said that, By the way, I won't because if
I ever accuse her of not being a couve, she will.
Speaker 1 (57:48):
Oh boy. But yeah, happy birthday, Jess. I hope you
have a great week and see a bunch of really
cool whales, like I'm really jealous she does. She does,
And she showed me some pictures of her husband first
time getting like a humpback like right next to her.
And I have gone watching myself, and I don't think
I've seen anything more than like a tuna fish camp.
Speaker 3 (58:09):
Like, hey, tune is still cool.
Speaker 1 (58:11):
It just hasn't worked out. Hey, you know what's really cool?
What is texts?
Speaker 3 (58:15):
Go ahead, let's start reading, all right.
Speaker 1 (58:16):
That sounds good to me. A bunch of you pointed out,
by the way that the Rock did play for Miami,
So if you're counting that, then yeah, he's definitely got
to be up there. He's definitely got to be among
the best.
Speaker 8 (58:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
The other one I thought of in the break and
this kind of falls into the wrestling category, But Dave
Bautista has been really good in a lot of movies,
especially as Drax and Guardians of the Galaxy, right call,
you know, probably be my I think, most consistent in
more than one movie.
Speaker 1 (58:45):
He's great if you consider him an athlete. Yeah, yeah,
for sure, for sure, definitely an athlete. You can argue
whether he plays a sport, but okay, okay, yeah for sure.
A bunch of people bringing up ray Allen text from
uh I just missed it, but bringing of that Kareem
and Airplane is so good. Have you seen Airplane before?
(59:06):
It is a must watch, all right, It's one of
the funniest movies I've ever seen.
Speaker 2 (59:09):
I'm gonna just show my age in that I don't
have mench much age, But no, I have not seen her.
Speaker 1 (59:14):
Fine text one the four two five who brings up
that lacrosse is the national England sport, which makes it
even more funny as an extremely English person, how dare you?
But it is pretty funny? Two O six. I am
betting the A's to win the division because of the odds,
But I am betting Seattle to win the World Series.
Speaker 2 (59:32):
See now, that's not a terrible bet. I don't either
of those because it's probably pretty long odds for both.
But I think the A's have a definite chance to
win the Division if they get hot, and you'll hear
it on every single radio show. If the Mariners get
into the playoffs, they are one of the most dangerous
teams in the American League to make the World Series,
and anything can happen at that point, which is why
(59:54):
it shouldn't even be an if. Yeah, it should not
be an if. That's what's so frustrating.
Speaker 3 (59:59):
That is what's so fresh.
Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
That is what is so incredibly frustrating. Text from the
two five to three Love your show, Thank you. What
worries me about the Mariners is that management ownership is
counting on bounce back from so many players, as well
as continued good health and high level productivity from the
pitching staff. Very small margin for Air. A lot has
to go right for them to make the playoffs. In
my opinion, that Bishop text, really, you know, I saw
(01:00:22):
two five to three and so that's you know, I
almost gave away Nathan's phone number up. If you want
to phone.
Speaker 3 (01:00:27):
Number, by the way, I will sell it to you.
Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
I don't disagree with any of that. Yeah, Like, the
biggest concern for me is not just that this offense
isn't very good. It's that any injury to the starting
pitching staff and you are screwed.
Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
So my question to you is, at what point do
we look at the last three years and instead of
viewing healthy starting pitching as an outlier, we look at
it as something the Mariners can do.
Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
I think you can do both. Okay, I think you
can both say, Hey, the Mariners have done a great
job of protecting these arms.
Speaker 3 (01:00:59):
And Robbie Ray, but that's the one big.
Speaker 1 (01:01:02):
One and he's the one who wasn't really developed by
this stat That's exactly true. Yeah, Luis Castillo did have
his injury at the end of the year, but Gilbert
Kirby Woo's that some injury issues, But Wh's.
Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
An interesting one.
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
I feel like they were more I have no insight
on this whatsoever, just a total gut feeling, but I
feel like that was more like protecting him from overthrowing,
kind of similar to Kirby in twenty twenty two. And
I think we see like a similar development path for
Brian wu as in, if that happens, then Kirby in
twenty twenty three would be Woo's this year.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
If that makes sense.
Speaker 1 (01:01:38):
Oh, I think that's absolutely makes sense. And I have
huge expectations for Brian Wood this coming into this year.
Speaker 2 (01:01:44):
So that would be would be my other question. Maybe
it's a different question for you, but if you were
to have a playoff series right now, who would be
starting Game one?
Speaker 1 (01:01:53):
This is so hard and it's a good problem to have. Yeah,
that's great problem. I think I would go Logan, Gilbert,
Brian Wu, Louis Castill. That would be mine. No George Kirby,
No George Kirby. In fact that I would go Bryce
Miller over George Kirby.
Speaker 6 (01:02:09):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
Yeah, it's just and that's nothing against George Kirby. It's
just there's some volatility there and I have a little
bit more confidence. And look, Luis Castillo have fored a
ton of volatility last year. But maybe I'm just going
with the veteran presidence. Yeah, you know, And again, any
of those guys that you just mentioned would be either
the number one or number two starter on a lot
(01:02:31):
of teams, at worse than number three, at very worse
to number three.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
Yeah, I'm bullsh on Castillo. I think he's gonna have
a I don't want to say bounce back, because he's
not only hit a bad year last year, the last
couple of years, but I think he's gonna get back
to an ace like pitcher for the Seattle Maris this year.
I think he has the stuff, and I still would
start him game one, just because I've seen him do
it in the playoffs in the big moments. That's who
(01:02:55):
I trust the most. I don't know who i'd go
to in three, I probably would go, so I think
i'd still go Gilbert Kirby. Yeah, and then you bring
Wu and Miller out of the bullpens, yeah, which I
think short sample size of those guys would be awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:03:08):
And that's why I'm gonna be so frustrated if this
team doesn't make the postseason, because the mixing and matching
you can do there competes, if not beats. Oh yeah,
anybody a text for the two five to three? And
I could not agree with this anymore. Kenny Powers is
the worst actor trying to play sports pitching motions, Holy
craps bad. And I still don't understand why they didn't
have a stand in for Danny McBride because it looks,
(01:03:32):
you know, the stereotypical throw like a girl thing. Yeah,
it's pretty darn close to that, and it's just like
there would be no way it would get to the
plate watching him pitch.
Speaker 3 (01:03:44):
And you know, it's just that's why I can't do
sports movies.
Speaker 1 (01:03:47):
That's fair. I struggled too, Like, look, Moneyball is one
of the best reviewed sports movies of all time, but
I struggle watching some of those guys pitch. Also ignoring
the fact that, oh, I don't know they had Tim Hudson,
Mark mold Are and Barry Zito and the MVP. That's
just completely not brought up into the movie. And then
that bull crab about paying for it's just the ninth
(01:04:08):
round stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
Don't get me start on Moneyball, man.
Speaker 1 (01:04:11):
I mean, it's well done. It's a good actor, but
the stories, the stories yea so hard.
Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
It's a little overdone, and I think it spawned a
lot of baseball teams to try and act the same way.
Speaker 1 (01:04:25):
Absolutely our own. Yeah, Bob Uker brought up a lot
to rest in peace to man Harry Doyle. I mean,
the uh, there's so many of those that I'd love
to say, but we're not allowed to say, Like, but
oh crap, if that's not Shaquille O'Neal and left field,
that ball is out of there. It makes me laugh
every time, every time. And then also Serrano goes back,
(01:04:49):
He'll need to rocket up his ass to catch that
one is the one that just kills me. He's so good. Yeah,
he's so good. Jack Sikma, Dennis John and Gus Williams,
Paul Saalas, even Wally Walker as a player, slick Walks.
You just said old school with Nate McMillan's coach. I'm
talking about when he was playing. Yeah, I mean that
is old school. And they were, you know, they were
(01:05:10):
the first championship team.
Speaker 2 (01:05:11):
And I don't doubt that that was a fun team
to watch. And I understand that I may come off
a little agist and I say that, Oh, when I
was growing up, it was the Ray Allen team that
I grew up with. But hey, I'm twenty seven years old.
Give me a break. I don't choose when I'm born.
Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
I just still hate you for your age. I'm sorry.
I wish I didn't I wish I did it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:37):
Yeah, that's fair. Hey, I have a question for you. Yeah,
best sports TV show.
Speaker 1 (01:05:41):
Oh that's a really good one.
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
Now I have a certain one in mind.
Speaker 1 (01:05:44):
Okay, please give it to Ted Lasso would probably be in
the top two for me. I will tell you this.
I hated Winning Time.
Speaker 3 (01:05:53):
I really Oh I was going to ask you about that.
I haven't seen it.
Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
I loved, obviously the documentary the last dance for Michael
Jordan's so I was like, really interested in maybe check
out Winning Time.
Speaker 3 (01:06:03):
Not a fan, not a fan.
Speaker 1 (01:06:05):
I thought the acting was pretty bad and look, I
like Adam McKay style. Like I'm a huge fan of
the big shorts. I'm kind of tired of it, Like
Vice was enough. I'm ready to just kind of move
on from that stuff, the super talented but boy favorite.
I think I might have to go Letter Kenny.
Speaker 3 (01:06:24):
Is that a sports TV show?
Speaker 1 (01:06:26):
Okay? Then I'll go Shorsy.
Speaker 3 (01:06:28):
I mean, I'm curious.
Speaker 1 (01:06:30):
Letter Kenny has sports in it? Are two young hockey players,
it's not it's sports a Jason. Okay, So I'll go
Shorty because that is very much and he's so good.
It's so funny, like that's that's the type of stuff.
Like when I found that show, like I was like,
there's no way this is gonna be good.
Speaker 3 (01:06:48):
And then I was like, would you consider the League
a sports show?
Speaker 8 (01:06:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:06:52):
I would consider the League. I would put that in
like the top eight I love, I Love the League.
Jason man Zucas is one of the funniest.
Speaker 3 (01:06:59):
People, one of the most underrated, like comedy shows.
Speaker 1 (01:07:02):
Well, I am doing my darnedest to get really nice
tickets because How Did This Get Made? Is coming to
Seattle in March thirtieth, and I just I want to
see it so bad, like at the Paramount. And I'll
be honest, the Paramount ain't my favorite because I'm a
big dude in those seats are not built for Christopher
Vincent Crawford at all. But I can't help but think.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
That, Yeah, I mean, I haven't seen a skit by
how I haven't seen the skit how Did This Get Made?
But I would love to kind of check it out.
Speaker 1 (01:07:35):
It's great. It's Paul Cheer, June Dan and Raphael and
Jason Manzucus and they talk about bad movies like that's
all they do is that they talk.
Speaker 3 (01:07:42):
About bad bad So there you go.
Speaker 1 (01:07:45):
Love that too. Another guy I love is Softy and
he's coming up next. Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR.
Speaker 3 (01:07:50):
FIM.
Speaker 4 (01:07:59):
Chris Crawford and Free and for.
Speaker 1 (01:08:02):
And now I get to chat with my my sports
hero yeah, yeah, take maller. What's going on?
Speaker 10 (01:08:09):
You got low standards, Palifi or sports hero. What is
the epitome of your sporting athletic career? Not as a broadcaster,
not as a medium member, but like the peak of
your athletic career.
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
My peak of the athletic career. I threw a no
hitter in high school? Really yep? What year? Senior two
thousand and one? Yeah, wow, senior year.
Speaker 10 (01:08:31):
Well that tops anything I got Andrews Holy moly, geez,
I was gonna say I once went six for seven
and a doubleheader against Interlake High School when I was
a senior.
Speaker 3 (01:08:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
Yeah, and you were facing better competition than I was.
Speaker 10 (01:08:43):
To be Well, you know my claim to fame as
I played against Todd Hollinsworth when he played for Newport,
and then I played against Mark Pope, who's now the
head coach at Kentucky Nice and the Bellve You Boys
and Girls Club House League. I think that's about it
as far as big stars that I faced off.
Speaker 5 (01:09:00):
Yeah, no hitter's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (01:09:01):
Yeah, I get I am Holy I threw that in
your face, I guess.
Speaker 4 (01:09:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
Also on the other side of that, I gave up
a homer and was dunked on by John Lester when he.
Speaker 5 (01:09:11):
Was at Belle Oh, there you go, all right, I
got you into.
Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
Yeah that was summer league stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:09:15):
I was nowhere near good enough to play enders. How
about you? What's the highlight of your sporting careers about
an athlete?
Speaker 2 (01:09:21):
By the way, no, so pretty close. There's between two.
It's between playing Division one for university. I didn't really
do anything like special, but just having that accomplishment, that's
probably the highest level after him, Yeah, sure and Chris,
but the best probably my highest like a moment was
scoring a state scoring a hat trick in the State
Cup final two Wednesday, senior of high school.
Speaker 3 (01:09:42):
There you go, there you go.
Speaker 10 (01:09:44):
I was once warming up taking full cuts in the
dugout of Bannerwood Baseball Stadium in Bellevue, Washington, right off
for Richards Road. I don't know if you guys know
where that is or not. By the way, great great
high school stadium opened up when I was like twelve
years old, and I decided to take my thirty six
thirty two east in which I still, by the way,
nice taking full cuts in the dugout and Miss Bruce
gates his head by about two centimes and I'm just
(01:10:07):
thinking of myself.
Speaker 5 (01:10:07):
There's some alternate world. Yeah, i literally make.
Speaker 10 (01:10:10):
Contact with his temple and I'm not sitting here right now. Well,
because I'm probably in a jail cell somewhere.
Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
Yeah, well, I won't make the very dark joke that
everybody wants to make.
Speaker 10 (01:10:20):
While everybody's got an alternate reality where they're not here, right,
they did something stupid or came close to doing something stupid.
Speaker 1 (01:10:25):
So did you watch the SNL thing yesterday?
Speaker 4 (01:10:28):
Moving on?
Speaker 10 (01:10:29):
Yeah, you know what I did what everybody else did.
I watched the highlights on Twitter. There you go, That's
what I did. I'm because I'm because it was last night, right, Yes,
so I'm watching I'm watching Twitter last night thinking why
am I seeing all these Saturday Night Live highlights on
a Sunday?
Speaker 5 (01:10:42):
Right, Like, what the hell's going on?
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
Here?
Speaker 5 (01:10:44):
Is this from last week? Is this a preview for
what's coming up?
Speaker 10 (01:10:47):
I mean I saw people were throwing a fit about
Tom Hanks's you know, Trump impression or is Trump trump
voter impression? People are all mad about that. The Will
Ferrell stuff, I guess was hilarious. Paul Simon came out
with What's her name. Who's the act the singer that
Paul Simon came out with yesterday. God, I know more
about this than you do, Holy Cow, a little bit,
but I learned a lot about it on Twitter. Yeah,
(01:11:07):
so I'm a big SNL fan, but I I totally
forgot to watch live yes.
Speaker 1 (01:11:10):
Who is the best athlete host of SNL? Oh, God,
it's pretty easy for me. Peyton Manning.
Speaker 5 (01:11:18):
I can't even think of one off the top.
Speaker 6 (01:11:19):
Of my head.
Speaker 1 (01:11:20):
Peyton Manning's one for me. Jordan was really good. Travis
Kelcey was pretty good.
Speaker 10 (01:11:24):
Was the was the Manning one when he would throw
it playing dodgeball and like drilling kids in the back
or whatever or the football or whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:11:31):
That's one of the best digital shorts ever made.
Speaker 5 (01:11:34):
That was pretty good.
Speaker 1 (01:11:35):
Kelsey was good the Rock if you count him as
a Miami player. I don't count WWE guys as though
it is not all due respect to that sport. But
I also anders who's not a big SNL guy. Who
is your favorite athletes in.
Speaker 10 (01:11:49):
A movie, like, like an actual athlete or a fictional
actual athlete in at that's acting?
Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
Yeah, that's act.
Speaker 5 (01:11:55):
Marcus Johnson white Man can't.
Speaker 3 (01:11:57):
Oh, that's a good one.
Speaker 5 (01:11:58):
I'm gonna go ahead and get my car, kill everybody.
I got to my car, get my gun, kill everybody.
Speaker 10 (01:12:04):
Sorry, Marcus Johnson and Wetman Can't Jump was pretty good.
I mean Blue Chips obviously with Shack and Penny Hardaway.
I remember when they went out and they went through
the backwoods of Louisiana or whatever to find Shaquille O'Neill
and Nick Nolty's just sitting there with his jaw dropped.
Remember that he's never been coached.
Speaker 9 (01:12:21):
He's totally raw.
Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
I believe he spelled his name wrong on his s
a t exactly exactly Strugg.
Speaker 10 (01:12:28):
Who was the white guy that was in Blue Chips?
Who was the third guy? Was Penny Hardaway, Shaquille O'Neal
and somebody else?
Speaker 5 (01:12:34):
He was his name?
Speaker 1 (01:12:34):
I think his character's name was Butch, But I don't
think he.
Speaker 5 (01:12:37):
Was over Ricky Rowe. That's right over, yeah, becuz he
was in Blue Chips.
Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
Also, by the way, they made sure that the white guy,
by the way, was that a hole in that movie?
Speaker 9 (01:12:49):
Why not? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:12:50):
I don't have a problem with that.
Speaker 10 (01:12:51):
Ahead of their time, everyone's doing that now. So anyway, Yeah,
what's your favorite SNL skit of all time? Yeah, oh boy,
besides turnle Angus, what's your favorite one?
Speaker 1 (01:13:01):
Oh there's a potato chip sketch with Jason Sedikas and
Will Forte where Jason Sidakis is trying to become an astronaut.
I'll have to send it to you, man. It's really
really that's really funny. I love all the Lonely Island stuff.
Speaker 10 (01:13:15):
My favorite SNL skin of all time. I mean, I'm
just a Jeopardy guy with Will Farrell. You know Norm
MacDonald all the time. I mean he was so freaking funny. Man,
that's bigger than a normal.
Speaker 1 (01:13:26):
Oh yeah, turd Ferguson, Yeah, every time the mother made last.
Every time I see uh Caleb Ferguson pitches for the Dodgers,
I can't help but get tur Ferguson.
Speaker 10 (01:13:35):
But we call uh uh. Who's the guy from uh
from the from uh Oregon, the tight end. What's his name.
Speaker 1 (01:13:42):
Ferguson, Yeah, Jake fergus Evan Ferguson.
Speaker 10 (01:13:45):
Ja No, no, no, it's it's it's the guy that
faked the injury against the hostagon Seattle last year.
Speaker 1 (01:13:49):
Yeah, that's I'm.
Speaker 5 (01:13:50):
Pretty sure you called him. He called him turt fergus I.
Speaker 1 (01:13:52):
Don't blame you one bit. Yeah, I don't blame you.
The other one is dating one of the Convender twins.
The other ferguson tight End for the uh for the Cowboys.
Speaker 10 (01:13:59):
Uh, well, didn't they just get the quarterback from Cardian
back dating one of the Is it Cavendar or Cavender?
Speaker 1 (01:14:05):
By the way, I think it's Cavender.
Speaker 10 (01:14:06):
Is it Cavender because that sounds better because every time
I say Cavendar, I think.
Speaker 5 (01:14:11):
I mean she's he's dating a dead person?
Speaker 9 (01:14:13):
What the hell?
Speaker 1 (01:14:15):
Well, on that note, what are you coming up today,
my friend? Not much, nothing, nothing. I actually have like
one oh yeah, possible.
Speaker 8 (01:14:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (01:14:23):
It's our annual President's Day show and most of it,
by the ways, in the tank. So we're near Aby

Point Casino. No Todd Liwiki will join us at five.
Kevin Martinez the new president of Business Operations. And by
the way, I really hope people understand the difference between

not gonna have Kevin Martinez on the air and bust
his balls about why they didn't go.
Speaker 5 (01:14:43):
Out and get a bat. Why didn't you get a bat?
Speaker 9 (01:14:45):
