(00:00):
Schedule is out. We're going toget to that in a second. We
come on twenty see twenty four minusfive, nineteen hours after the schedule comes
out officially. But I haven't done. Yeah, thank you, I haven't
done. Radio math always scary.I if you listen to the show and

(00:21):
you know Andrew's gonna test this, even yesterday when we're going head to head
with the Mariners game on at thesame time. I just don't talk about
the schedule until the schedule comes out. I cannot. My brain doesn't function
in a way that allows me topiece meal it together and digest it without
seeing the whole thing. But nowthat we have it, good stuff to
look at to talk about. God, the NFL is something else, aren't

(00:42):
they? Like between the videos fromteams putting the teams putting stuff out for
the Skalue copied the Titans, wasthere a lot of moss I saw the
one the Titans did the same thingagain, Yeah, well yeah, with
the girl that was the star ofthat. Yeah, but she like going
to the mos man on the street, going out and asking people about this,
you know, like different things aboutthe teams. Yes, the first
one that because they open with theBengals, and the lady says the Bengals,

(01:04):
and all I could think of wasSusannah Hoffs and a movie dancing or
underwear, and so yeah, Iwas. I've been distracted ever since then.
I I gotta tell you, isthat a movie? Oh yeah,
it's called the Bengals. No,she's, she's it's a group, the
Bengals, a singing group. Younever heard the Bengals. You're not that
young, No, I'm not.I think I'm aware of Manic Monday.

(01:26):
Oh yeah, yeah, okay,I just didn't know whose eternal flame you
know? Stuff? Come on now, I want you to bump back with
Bengals music the rest of the showtoday. Okay, I'm gonna have to
look up what that is. SoI'm just dead. I know Manic Monday.
I cannot. I just can't.I can't. I can't anymore.

(01:49):
God, I'm an excuse. Youdo have an excuse. You're young,
just young is you're young at heart? But you should like, really the
Bengals, You're not? Okay? All right? No, But I mean
I know some older Mariners get whenwe get to the Mariners first, because
I want to they're off today.We'll do schedule stuff a lot. We've

(02:13):
got daily power play, a littlebit of draft talk coming up, the
highlights, currency Roots Sports, andthe Mariners also, uh they already heard
just a second ago too, Sowe got a lot going on in terms
of the show today, Will alwayshas always take your text four nine four
or five one. Tell them werethe text line when it's game time?
Oh you know. Also a talkbacksare welcome as well. You go the

(02:34):
iHeartRadio app and and fire those awaytoo. Some notes on the schedule,
some reasons. I think that thisteam, the Vegas over under has Seattle
with seven and a half wins thisseason, I'm taking the over. Yeah,
I think all day every day.Now. It's funny because it used
to be you take the over andyou know, you can always feel like
this team is slighted. But whydo you do that? Well, I

(02:55):
mean a Pete Carroll coach team, the worst they're going to do is seven
and ten. Yeah, that's theworst. And that is over five and
a half two years ago. Yeah, and they blew that one out of
the water, right, But thePete Carroll effect, You're like, no,
there's no chance they're gonna win atleast eight nine ten games, and
honestly consistently that's what he did rightwell here anymore. Like even yesterday when

(03:17):
Levine and I were doing the showwith Alyssa and Curtis and a couple of
times in the breaks we kind oflooked to each other and we're trying to
wrap it. I don't know iffans are the same way. I'm still
trying to wrap my arms around thefact that Pete Carroll's not the coach anymore.
Yeah, it's I mean, fourteenyears is so long. I don't
even know how many Mariner managers theywent through in that time. Since twenty

(03:38):
ten. Probably I can. Let'sdo the over under. That's a good
real Okay. Do you think I'mgonna say? Okay, it's just like
just as four. Are you settingthe over under at four? I would,
well, if it's an over under, I would do four. Yeah,
Okay, that's not how it works. But that's three and a half.
Then there you go. Okay,so three and a half you're going

(03:59):
over. I'm going on. I'mdefinitely going I think it's five. I
think they've had five managers. I'mgonna go under. All right, you
look that up for it. No, I know them. Okay, we
had Wakamatsu because it's twenty ten.Yeah, that's when Pete took over.
Oh yeah, but we're going maritormanager. Yeah, okay, so it
was still down, but he gotdown. So it was John McClendon,

(04:21):
Wedge, Lloyd McClendon, Yeah,Eric Wedge, McLaren, No, that
was pre it was pretty Oh waitthat's right. Yeah, it is four.
It's four? Is it four?I'm not allowed to sen it?
Wait no, because you said itover running with a half. Okay,
I'm not good at betting. That'swhy I go to the window. It's

(04:42):
Klahoma. And then you talk topeople that tell you what to do.
They do and then she wins.I do win. Pissed off our friend
gimre the Uh it was so there'sno interrom in there. That I met
was an interim for fifty games.I don't know if you consider that.
Yeah, that's a manager, DarrenBrown. That's a manager, Darren Brown.
So it's five all right, Yeah, it's five winner Winner, Thank
you, Welcome out to Darren Brown, Eric Wedgelloyd McLennan, Scott service.

(05:03):
That's five, ladies and gentlemen. We need to set more parameters when it
comes in anyway, that's a technicality. Anyway, the over under or the
over eder on the on the Seahawkwins was was seven and a half.
I think they go past that andthen some. But I'll tell you why

(05:23):
a little bit later on once weget back to that in a second.
I want to we got the dumbestthing you've heard again today? Yeah,
we do. We got that comingup for you as well. We'll do
that at two o'clock. And itwasn't. You won't actually hear the dumbest
thing, but you'll hear the reactionto the dumbest thing. But the guy
that is given the reaction, hehas the juice to to have a critical

(05:46):
as good as he is a legendary. Yes, exactly one o'clock today,
Stu Jackson's going to join us.He's a fascinating person. And if you
say, God, that name soundsfamiliar, Why does Stu Jackson? Why
does that name sound unfamiliar? StuJackson has done it all in basketball,
specifically, coach played has connections locallyto both Seattle University and Washington State,

(06:14):
Vancouver Grizzlies, First GM, BigEast Guy, NBA executive. He's done
it all. He is now theWCC commissioner, and we're going to talk
to him yesterday if you missed it, and we're going to kind of recap
both Stu today and Gloria and Navarezwho we had on yesterday, who's the
Mountain West Conference commissioner. We're goingto kind of put those two together.
It's a task for Vaka over hereto put together because I think there's some

(06:39):
really good nuggets on the changing landscapeof college athletic day. Yeah, Gloria
was great from the perspective of twonon Power five conference commissioners and the challenges
that are being faced every day bynot just the schools because I think we
focus in on the schools, butthe member schools and those conferences. You

(06:59):
know, we can call it haveor have nots, or you can just
kind of look at it. Forwhat I WCC is a totally different beast
because they don't have football largely aJesuit Catholic conference that and that would be
a lot like what I don't evenknow, the conference like Saint Joe's and
those guys are in back east inthe Philadelphia Temple and all that, but
similar in the sense. But it'sthe West Coast that you know, private

(07:21):
like minded schools that now have broughttwo more schools in Grand Canyon, but
for our purposes more specifically Seattle University, the American Athletics American Athletic Conference,
they do have football and something theydid but yeah, but they but it's
not there. But it's a likeminded conference, right like in terms of
how they go about things. TheWCC brought in both Grand Canyon and Seattle

(07:43):
University starting in twenty twenty five, but also for the next two years,
Oregon State Washington State play all theirnon football sports in those in that conference.
So what is the future of theWCC. Why was Seattle you important
to get what Wazoo and Oregon Statebring to the conference? Is there a
future for those schools about outside ofthe next two years? So the next
year a lot to talk about withStu Jackson coming up at one o'clock,
so I'm excited to have him on, especially after we had Glorian Yell gall

(08:07):
alone. Let's go CC makes waytoo much sense. I don't know why
it didn't happen earlier. I cantell you it's He'll never say this it's
two words. First name, mark, last name. Few gotcha. That's
the second Seattle you went to Divisionone. Everyone said, oh, they're
gonna be the WCC. Yeah,it's it's a Catholic Jesuit Catholic on the
West Coast. It doesn't have football. They're gonna be in the WCC,

(08:30):
and it's taken us. When didthey go? As I keep that,
it's longer than I think it wastwenty twenty ten, I believe. Yeah,
I had just gotten here fourteen yearssomething like that. Yeah, it
took a long time. But nowthere's where they should be. So we'll
talk to two coming up with thatas well. Before we get to the
schedule for a couple of segments, let me get to the Mariners. They
get another win yesterday, Jess. You were down there and it was just

(08:54):
kind of your typical Mariner game ina lot of ways. They kind of
grind out a win. Pitching wasat elite. WU was good. Uh,
there were some nerve wracking moments. There were some nerve wracking moments for
sure. France HiT's the big homerun, little cushion for them. Brian
Wo's good, right, Yeah,he's playing really well. I think they're
they're on a pitch count. Yeah, he's back in a little bit.

(09:16):
But you know what looks I didn'tget to this so JP Crawford on a
rehab assignment yet last night down andto Colma got hit by a pitch he
did. It looked bad in thevideo, but I think the Mariners came
out and said it's okay, it'sokay, nothing, no structural damageor anything.
They're actually he might even play tonight, so okay. See so
but that the good news is theywin another series, they take two or
three, and they go on theroad for what arguably will be as tough

(09:41):
a road trip as you can get. The two best teams in the American
League record wise, the Baltimore Oriolesand then a five hundred Washington Nationals team.
Like that's better than we thought theywould be as well, exactly with
our friend Jesse Winker beata beatable. But you just got to hope you survive
the next six game, five hundred, the next ten games, Yeah,
you'd be good. Good with that. And Andres Munio has had another save

(10:01):
yesterday, four out save yet again. The mentality of this guy, like
we talked about MVPs on Monday withI just recorded my why did we have
such a like? It was weird. We talked about it on Monday with
the three of us, with Chrisand Nathan and I, and you know,
I kind of gave those guys theMVP and I said non But you

(10:22):
know what, I know why wedidn't say because I said non picture,
give me a non picture MVP.But if we said Pitcher, we kind
of did open it up, andit was, well, it's either Gilbert
or Kirby. Maybe the rock iskind of getting there, but Munial's name
didn't even come up with us,right, and yet this guy is just
grinding away, four out, saveafter four out, saved a bullpen that
has been depleted. Yes, youwill not have Matt Brash won have Santo's

(10:46):
until at least July. At leastthen if you get him back at all,
and I think not one of ustrusts that that's going to happen until
you see the whites of his eyesout on the mound. Yep, Sauce
gets hurt. He was a bigpart of what you're doing as a left
hand or so you've really kind oflost a lot. They're leaning so heavily
right now on a guy they pickedup off of the scrap heat in stanic

(11:09):
And and then Munio's four out savedafter four out saved. Thank goodness.
They have a day off today.Thank goodness they have that. But after
the game, his mentality, hisjust who he is is just kind of
remarkable to watch him because he hascome He's always had like closer stuff he
does, but it took a whileto get to be a closer, right

(11:33):
And I know you were in there, j just afterwards and he talked about
his mentality this season to close gamesout. Yes, that that that really
helped me a lot. I'm Ifeel like their focus has changed, love
and that mentory help me to gothere and and know my best way there.
Have you proven anything to yourself? You think just over the last month
or so? H just I don'tknow. It's just like when I am

(12:01):
when I am angry, when Iam like Georg, when I am like
I feel like I am able todo better everything, and when I tried
to do my one hundred percent everypitch, that is when the results came.
I like that when I'm angry, was the next George like George Kirby,

(12:22):
George Yeah, it's funny because youknow, at the end of the
clobhouse a lot and I see thatand I just respect it so much.
These guys don't need to be ourfriends. They're in the zone. And
and Kirby is it. You know, he's not mean or anything, but
he has a head down. Itkind of seems like a lot of pitching
staff and Bryce Miller has it.George Kirby, Bryce is a sweetheart.

(12:46):
They do. They do have thatlook of just like, yeah, mess
with me, and you know youto be that to have that role right
to close games out is is reallyis really a special trait to have because
you have to have such a shortmemory. We can always compare it like
to be in a cornerback in footballyou're going to get beat one on one,
you're going to get beat, yes, And in baseball, no matter

(13:09):
how good you are, even Rivera, you're going to get hit at some
point. And there he is justjust how many is it four or five?
Four out saves of these guys?He had five last night. I
believe it was a five out saveyesterday. Yeah, well at least four
out saves. I think he hasfive. That's crazy. What I like
to hear from that, you know, very small quote was that he's drawing

(13:33):
from the starting pitching staff, andso it's not just you know, we're
in the bullpen during the game andwe don't know the you know, camaraderie
that they might have in the clubhouse. For him to say like I'm drawing
from George, I get angry andI'm going to close this thing out.
I love to hear that he's facedseven batters this season and not like giving

(13:58):
up hits wise, but he's faceseven batters one two four times this year.
Yeah, eight batters once too.I mean, my goodness, Like
he's a lot of pitches, alot of pitches. Hopefully he's not getting
overworked along the way. Seven savesthis season and a handful of those have
been multi inning saves as well.So Mariners off today, they're on the
road to go to Baltimore tomorrow. We'll talk a little bit more about that

(14:20):
game tomorrow. All right, wecome back after a PGA Championship updates to
tell you about a record setting dayfor Xander Schoffley. Got paging Bobby Casper
Tony Fenale, who we all everytime we have Bobby on pre tournament.
Watch Tony Finale and Tony Feenale alwaysby now is like four over par.
Tony Fenale was six under today.Let's go Bobby. Bobby is smiling right

(14:43):
now. We Bobby on tomorrow tokind of recap the first two rounds.
Heading in the weekend, Let's geta from Westwood one a PGA Championship update.
All right, Seahawks schedule comes out. I'm ready to talk about it
finally, Andrews. We had wekind of had a moratorium on this show.
We weren't. We weren't leaking stuff. We didn't care. We moved
on. So it comes out yesterday. I'm gonna ask you guys a question

(15:03):
four nine, four or five one. Let me just get this out there
right now. Let me start getingsome texts and maybe a voice text talk
back as well, a little recordprediction. I'm gonna do that as well.
Okay, but let me do thisone first, because Jess tells me
and she's got the headlines. Thankyou for doing the headlines. The it's
it's all caps, Seattle has allcaps four primetime games on the schedule.

(15:28):
Accurate for sure, Yes, yes, yes, factual exactly. My point
was I think that those four, only two of them are things you would
celebrate, at least inside the VirginiaMaason Athletics Center. Most players will tell
you they don't like Thursday games. They got two Thursday games. I think

(15:48):
they really kind of got screwed there. Listen, it's everyone's going to get
those one of them San Francisco. So that's fine, that that makes sense
that I would call a primetime gameNiners Seahawks primetime Thursday night. You know,
they'll wear some you know, hopefullywe're throwbacks or something. But that's
the problem. The four days rest. Players don't like him. I mean,

(16:11):
we just go back. I meanBaldwin and Sherm and even other guys,
I mean Cage, all the guysthat we've you know, we always
reference now the great teams. Butthey were and they had the juice,
and they were so outspoken. Theytell you how they feel, and they
spoke, and they had and theyspoke for a lot of players who didn't

(16:33):
feel comfortable doing it. They justdidn't like them. Anyway. They have
the four primetimes, but that asideare the four primetime games on the two
Thursday games the one that I hate, Unfortunately, I did a Chicago game.
Is just that you're asking they're goingto have to travel on Christmas to
get there. Maybe I would assumethey'll let them have Christmas even Christmas morning
at home the players before they jumpon a flight and go to Chicago.

(16:55):
It's about three and a half hoursprobably in the charter, so they can
you can get away with that.Normally you'd probably for Chicago two time zones,
you'd probably leave, like on aFriday for a Sunday game. I'm
sure they'll let them do that, but that's still kind of that's a nobody
wants to do that. It's badenough they're making two teams play Wednesday Christmas
or four teams actually, but they'redoing that. It's fine. I'll ask
you guys this from a fans perspective. You're a fan twelves, you twelves

(17:21):
twelves, and I'll ask you guysthe same thing. What's your favorite primetime
game as a fan to sit downand watch for your team if your team's
playing in it, Because if yourteam's not part of it, you probably
like, Hey, Thursdays are finallyget home. I might miss the first
half, but I'll watch maybe Sundayis like, you love Sunday Night football
no matter who's playing, because youcan kind of like, just you've stressed

(17:44):
out over the Seahawks, You're done. You sit back and seriously and watch
the gay. Monday night has alwaysbeen that staple. Feels like it's lost
a little juice over the years, but maybe not. I look at it
from a different standpoint than maybe theaverage fan is. So I want to
know from a fan, when yousee the primetime schedule comes out, what
are the games you want to see? Maybe it is Thursday. Maybe you're
like, screw the players, Idon't care. I love my team playing

(18:07):
on a Thursday night. I thinkthat's the best night of the week to
play. Love it everything about it. What have you? Maybe it is
Sunday night football. Maybe it's Mondaynight football because it has evolved. We
talked yesterday a couple days ago aboutall the different places you have to watch
games. Now you got to getpeacock. You gotta subscribe to Netflix.
You have subscribe to ESPN Plus forthat one game that's on ESPN Plus this
year. Who oh, Amazon Primefor Thursday night games. Yep, you

(18:30):
have to subscribe to so many places. But we do because we love the
NFL. We do fantasy football,we put juice on it, We go
to Stocama casino, the sportsbook, all those things. You're a diehard fan,
you love all those But what foryou as a fan, if your
team was going to play and justsay one primetime game a year, what
primetime game would you want it tobe? Would it be Sunday night,

(18:51):
Monday Night or Thursday night football? And as you start for a day one
game, you had one game, one game, one game that your team's
going to, they say, hey, Andrew's your favorite team is going to
play one primetime game. Which daywould you want it to be? I
don't like Thursday games for my team, but specifically Thanksgiving. I love being

(19:14):
able to watch my favorite team playfootball and thanks really okay, yeah,
like last year was fun. Ilove that excuse to not do the dishes.
Yeah, that's a really out ofthe blocks answer. Okay, I
like it. What do you Whatdo you think Monday night? Monday Night's
still special for you? It isbecause if you're doing Sunday Night, you
come from a different You grew upon the East Coast where Monday night football
was a thing. But it wasalso very late eight thirty kickoff, twenty

(19:36):
kickoff? What have you? Ilike, let me, I'm here,
yes, best right, for sureit is I didn't know. I had
no idea what you guys were hiding. I didn't even know about us.
Let's be honest. Okay, youknow, in certain just very late night
when I was working overnights, I'mlike, oh, they're still playing.
Yeah, I have to. Hey, I was all in on the Sonic,

(20:00):
so Monday night now, I wasthere, so Monday night football because
if you're going to do Sunday nightthe entire slate of games, it's like
you're exhausted from watching all of thefootball. You've absorbed everything. Monday night
is an event. You've hit burnout. Maybe, yeah, you've also had
college all day Saturday, yes, right, right, and then Thursdays the

(20:21):
kickoff. I want the exclamation pointof Monday Night. I like it.
Yeah, that's that's why I likeMonday. See, I think I'm with
you, Jess. I like SundayNight football, but I'm kind of by
the time we get there again,I come from a different perspective. But
if like say, it's even aSeahawk bye week and I'm not working and
I'm just watching you know, redZone all day and hoping my fantasy team's

(20:41):
doing well and looking at my mysports book thing and everything else we're doing
right, And you're like, okay, you kind of do sometimes get to
Sunday. I even felt this, like, and I love March Madness,
but you like by the Friday nighteight o'clock game or six o'clock on Friday,
are like, oh god, soyeah, rightes, yeah, mondayday
night football. And I think maybeit is generational too, because we grew

(21:03):
up with Monday night football. Itwas so special. In fact, a
few years ago, I think earlyin Pete Carroll's tenure, I want to
say, they didn't have like oneor two years, they didn't have any
primetime games. And with more thananything, we're like, no Monday night
football? Yeah, what the hell? Like how bad is that? But
I love Monday night football. Ithink a standalone game we have not the

(21:23):
perfect time because it's almost it's it'sthe difference in three hours long long time
change. Five point twenty is stillearly for a lot of people. Yeah,
some people are still fighting to getoff work things like that, but
it's beats the hell out of eighttwenty because you I mean, we've been
back for Monday night games the lastreally since COVID ended, and before COVID

(21:45):
on the East Coast, we've beenin Baltimore. Let's see DC for a
Monday night game. Watch New Yorklast year for a Monday night game.
I feel like Dallas, well,Dallas had a primetime game last year,
and those games start so late.I can't fathom that, like eight already
at night, but that they haveto do it for the West coast.
But yeah, I'm with you Mondaynight football. If I could pick one,
say hey, they're going to playone primetime game. What day do

(22:07):
you want to be? It's Mondaynight. And I think we've we had
this conversation with Honggren before too,and Mike says the same thing. Again.
Maybe it's generational because we're a littlebit older, but Mike's older than
all of us. I can saythat he's not he's not listening, is
he? He always listens. I'lltext him. You know what he had
said, You're really old. That'show the text have come through. Okay,

(22:29):
I'll admit to it. But Mikesaid the same thing. It's like
there's there's something, there's a littlemore juice. And I think this is
why Pete was so successful with primetimegames, especially Monday Night, and especially
for you know, the first tentwelve years he was here, is because
guys have egos and they get sorevved up. Because it's a standalone game
Monday Night, everyone else is played. You kind of usually have a little

(22:52):
extra day to prepare. Tuesday isan off day anyway in the NFL,
so it doesn't really screw your scheduleup as bad. And you have the
extra day. Yeah, and you'reactually going in but even going the next
week like usually Tuesdays and off dayanyway, so it just really doesn't mess
with you too bad. But likeMichael say, yeah, we love those
like Monday Night. You just gotgoing, and Pete used that to his
advantage. Now, some guys KirkCousins, I'm talking to you, melt

(23:15):
down on primetime games. But butI with you. I would go on
Monday Night. But so I Ihate Thursdays. I just think it's just
not a night for NFL football. But really, as we've now found out
this with the Wednesday game now onon Christmas, the NFL will played the
game every day of the week.Because if you all remember who played on
Tuesday a few years ago, yourSeattle Seahawks at LA. I don't know

(23:37):
if you get you weren't working here, You don't know if you I had
to do this, I had todo the game down there. I I
remember it, but I remember itwas the weirdest, strangest game. Now,
part of it was still we hadto wear masks inside and so far
and take them on and off andthings. But it was but yeah,
Tuesday game because they had the andand that really screwed Seattle, by the
way, because the rams I wouldhave had to address a bunch of practice

(24:02):
squad guys, and so somehow theydelayed it till till Tuesday. Yeah,
weird anyway, they but but theyplay. They will play it every night.
They've turned into the mac mac attack. Spouse will be bowling Green.
Another nickname I have. I preferthat over Bak. By the way,
you don't get a pick. Yeah, when you choose your nickname, that
means we use the opposite. Yeah, I know, okay, So I
love Ak. Yeah good, wedon't feel about using it anymore. The

(24:27):
other part I love about Monday Nightfootball. Which I didn't mention is that
every player in the NFL, becauseit's their downtime as well, is watching
it. And so in the ageof social media, I love seeing what
they're saying about that football. Youcould still be kind of doing your own
break happing, watching film. Youknow, Sturday night, you're prepping Sunday

(24:49):
that football. Half the teams areflying back home something and they're not and
trust me, they're not watching agame. So like that, every players
and Thursday teams will leave the facilityabout five thirty or six if you're on
the West Coast and things. Yeah, I think to me, I say,
Monday night. But your thoughts fournine, four to five one tell
them root text sign when its gametime, tell the time. We'll get

(25:10):
your thoughts, you'll get your questions, we'll get your concerns, we'll get
all those uh fire away with you. If you could pick the one primetime
game, we'll go through the schedulesome more. Stu Jackson joined this WCC

Foundation Special Broadcast studios. And Iam indeed walking like an Egyptian right now?

(25:51):
Nice name that tune and pull outthe arms. Oh man, see
now you know I've seen this video? Yeah, when MTV actually showed videos,
do you know what banness is?I thought we were all Bengals.
Okay, good job, so youdo know who they are? Now I
do. This is an all Bangles? Can you guess less? Susannah haas

(26:15):
for me in person? Yeah, for an in person. We fly up
on our massive budget. Hey,Susannah, we're a sports show. Our
host is basically your age. Wouldlove if you can come up here and
hang out. Well, what doyou want to talk about? Out?
She has to wear or something?Well she could wear what she wore on
the All Night or yeah, Imean I'm in on that one hundred percent.

(26:37):
There is a Listen. Anybody thatis of my age male knows exactly
what we're talking about. I sawthem, I saw her and them.
This is how you date yourself ina building that no longer exists in Spokane,
the old Spokane Coliseum. So wow, yeah, great concert. Not
quite as good as Easy Top.We also saw them up there, but
yeah, then they demolished the building. I'm old, Okay, yeah,

(27:00):
we got I just didn't live hereyet. You're not old, thank you.
That's the only reason I don't knowit. Seahawks schedule comes out yesterday.
We'll go through a little bit moredetails coming up after our interviews to
Jackson at one o'clock today WCC Commissioner. The two things that jump out that
I mean just from a schedule standpoint, but there's a couple stretches we'll talk
about and then we'll go through. You know, just I love I love,

(27:21):
love love doing the old roster orschedule roulette with the wins and losses.
But you probably could not ask fora better first two games to start
the season with a new head coach, new system, new players, to
kind of get a soft landing, yep. Then the Denver Broncos at home
on September eighth, and then goingto the New England Patriots. You're going

(27:45):
to see back to back rookie quarterbacksearly in the year. Two teams at
ranked in the bottom third of passoffense last season. They just and and
didn't do like New England did nothingto the wide receiver position. The Broncos
bo Nicks will come in and losehis second straight game in Seattle in as
many years. You really couldn't askfor more than that. Now, I

(28:10):
love that. At the other endof bookend it, you have two games
on the road to end the seasonwith a team that I would fully expect
to be definitely in the playoff raceat Chicago Thursday night, December twenty sixth,
and at the Rams January fourth orfifth. That'll be a Saturday or
Sunday game. Remember they can switchthose around depending on trying to match games

(28:33):
up for playoff purposes and so forth, which means the forty nine ers are
taking on the Cardinals this year inthe other final game in the NFC West.
So I don't remember I mentioned toGreg too, and maybe somebody wrote
about I don't remember, not sinceI've covered them, that I remember.
Like back to back road games toend the season. You would see that
sometimes for other teams with maybe buildingissues or what have you. That's not

(28:56):
the case at lumin They get priorityand then some. So that's just kind
of a between the two Thursday gamesand the two back to back road games
and the season the schedule makers didSeattle zero favor favors in that regard.
So you got to build in Chicago. You want to see Chicago early in
the season. You don't necessarily wantto see them late in the season because

(29:18):
there's a chance that Caleb Williams startsto figure things out. There's a chance
at Roma Doonsday and Keenan Allen andDj Moore end up being good PFF's best
white wide receiver room there they are, So you'd rather see them early.
And also, you don't want toplay in Chicago in December, like you
just don't know, you don't becausethat has the potential to have all kinds

(29:38):
of issues. Now, if thatis the case, I do like Seattle's
chances of running the football better thansay Chicago's with Charbonay and Walker. But
and if this offensive line is healthy, but that's just that's a that's a
tough go. Those are the thingsthat really kind of jumped out at me
as far as with the schedule. If you're just looking from a competitive standpoint,
the other part of it is thisevery year? It's different every year

(30:00):
we think and I saw everybody.Brady Henderson had some intricate tweet from someone
about the metrics of the strength ofschedule. I mean real deep dive in
the strength of schedule. And whileI appreciate the effort and the work and
all the numbers and analytics and metricsgo into that, know this. Every
year there are teams that are supposedto be really good that are absolutely dogg

(30:25):
you know what. And every yearthere's teams that we think are going to
be that and end up being prettygood. Case in point, there wasn't
a person in the world that thoughtthe Rams would come in here and beat
Seattle last year. In that firstgame, they were supposed to take a
step back. Cooper Cup wasn't playingPoka and Nikua remember him, Oh wow,
we do now. He was nota name that jumped off the page.

(30:48):
And they came in and bludgeoned theSeahawks and and kind of got themselves
rolling last year, even though Seattledid go to five and two at one
point, that was that was awake up call. Jordan Love was supposed
to be a big step back witha bunch of no name receivers in Green
Bay, they were a lot betterlast year. I mean, there's always
teams that step up and take astep back, so there are big surprises

(31:11):
along the way. But I thinkI can confidently say Seattle needs to and
will start two and oh on theseason, and that's a big Now,
I'd also say they better start tooand oh because a schedule after that the
next two weeks, oh yes, really hard. Almost a layup again,
really hard. I mean, we'llgo through it later on. But you

(31:33):
need to get those first two games. You have to get those first two.
You're playing a basically you're playing you'reyou're a power five playing a big
sky school the first week. Yep. So you can't lose them Ontana.
That's never happened here, has it? I don't know. I'll have to
ask Softy about that when you'll checkin with him. Yeah, and then
you go against a team that's abottom end power five team in New England.
So win those two games and theway you go, Okay, we

(31:56):
come back. Changing landscape of collegeathletics. Jackson is the Western West Coast
Conference commissioner, a longtime administrator formerGM in the NBA. He has done
it all. We'll check in withhim and find out about what's going on
with the WCC, Wazoo, SEATTLEUand so much more. Next now,

from the Star Rentals Sports to usJordan ninety three point three KJRFM Sports Headlines
headlines brought to you by Benu Kings. Nice work, Thank you, Benu
Kings dot com. Seahawks schedules out. They'll host Broncos kick things off first
game of the year, one ofive Sunday, September eighth. Softy had
that first, of course he did. Softy known for his journalism. Seattle

(32:43):
has four primetime games two Thursday gamesthis season as well. MS are off
today. Beat the Royals four totwo yesterday. Next up a road trip
that includes Baltimore and the Yankees.Sounders lost to Real Salt Lake two nothing
yesterday. Vancouver coming up on Saturday. You can hear that game my nine
three point three KJFM pregame seven o'clock. Jackson Feltz will have it for you.
Tybot Rogers out at Washington. Theykicked him off. The team removed
from the Husky's roster got a biggame in the WNBA tight I should have

(33:07):
mentioned this too, as Caitlin Clarkin Indiana their first home game. I
think that'll be rocking a little bittonight there at the oldfield House in Indiana.
Oh yeah, Sabrina and Escue andNew York are there. I say.
Brianna Stewart, Yeah heard of her, never heard her? Yeah,
she's pretty good. But and askyou has been a very good person for

(33:27):
Caitlin Clark to lean on. Prettygood relationship there. She's not one of
the mean girls that's been ripping onher around the league. So should be
a good matchup to the best shootersin the WNBA. Two nights, all
right, let's go into the twoo'clock out or one o'clock out. All
right. I am excited about thisnext guest because never spoken to him,

(33:51):
but he has done more in hislife than any of us could even imagine.
And now he is the head ofthe West Coast Conference, the commissioner
of the WCC, former NBA executiveboth the league and team level, former
head coach at the collegiate level, and kind of got Wisconsin back to being
a good basketball program back in theday, among other things. A graduate

(34:15):
of Seattle University coached at Washington Statebriefly as well. He's been everywhere.
He's now again. The Commission ofthe WCC, Stu Jackson, joined us
right now on the Beacon Plumbing Hotline. Hi, Stu, how are you.
I'm doing well and thank you forhaving me today. I appreciate you
coming on. What have you notdone in your life professionally in the world
of basketball and college athletics? Whathave you not done? Is there something

(34:35):
on the Is there something on yourchecklist you need to get done before you
decide to retire? For one thing, I don't really know the word retire,
but it's nice for everyone else. But in terms of a checklist of
what comes next, I don't know. Always sort of considered myself a life

(34:55):
learner and that will continue. You'rea c OTO you alum, and and
they're in the news with your conference. We'll get to that specifically in a
second. But what do you rememberfor your days of being up on Capitol
Hill there in Seattle? Well,I have very very fond memories of my
days at Seattle. You. Iarrived there at a time where I,

(35:19):
you know, after attending the Universityof Oregon and playing basketball there, I
got injured just before my senior year, and I was told that the knee
injury I suffered would likely end myplaying career. Back in that day,
you know, athletes didn't recover aswell from torn acls or MCLs the way

(35:43):
that they do today. So Idecided that it was probably best I turned
my focus on pursuing my academic degreeand you know, getting my academic life
together. And I was came uponan opportunity at Seattle You. And the
reason that I attended Seattle You,aside from the fact that it had a

(36:07):
great academic reputation, was that thecurrent coach at the time at Seattle You,
Bill O'Connor, offered me a chanceto almost act as a graduate assistant
while I finished my undergraduate degree. And hearing that, I jumped at the
opportunity because I felt that maybe oneday I might want to coach or you

(36:28):
know, certainly I wanted to stayin the game of basketball. So I
attended Seattle University for about a yearand a half, and boy was in
a great year and a half.It was completely different than attending an institution
the size of Oregon. It was. It was small, you know,
the average you know, teacher tostudent ratio again was very small, and

(36:50):
it was a very nurturing environment. That was exactly what I needed to finish
out my undergraduate academic career. Andthere was such attention given there to the
students at the time, and Itook advantage of that and benefited from it,
and because of that, I havegreat memories of the place. Well,
that's awesome, and obviously they're inthe news with your conference, which

(37:13):
we'll get to in a second. The other school that's in the news that
you have a tie to will beWashington Steam. Did you coach at Washington
State assistant coach briefly? Is thatright? I did, and it was
actually my first full time coaching positionin my career. I worked for Len
Stevens, who was the head coachthere at the time. I was at
Washington State for a couple of yearsand got to experience, you know,

(37:36):
my time there in Pullman and afterthat, I then ended up going back
and being an assistant coach back eastand then lad was caught and people think
now with Wisconsin, that's just aperennial power. You were a head coach,
you led them to the tournament forthe first time in like decades,
and got that program rolling. Sothe coaching thing turned into an administration thing.
And you know GM with the Grizzliesand at the league level as well.

(37:59):
But here you are in college athletics. So let me go down this
road for a second. Stu,Stu Jackson joining us the WCC Commissioner.
The news that came out last weekwould be that Seattle You and Grand Canyon
University are going to join your conferencein the twenty twenty five twenty twenty six
calendar year, so one more yearin their current home of the Whack,
that they will be WCC members. What led to that? I have to

(38:22):
think that your connections to Seattle Youand the push that has been here since
they went back to Division one thatprobably helped along the way. There was
always some sort of pushback to puttingSeattle You in that conference. It seems
like a natural fit. But whynow, why is Seattle You now going
to be a member of the WCC. Well, certainly familiarity with the Seattle

(38:43):
You gave me a perspective that perhapsothers might not have. But in adding
both those members Grand Canyon University andSeattle University, it was truly a monumental
day for the WCC being able toexpand to eleven full time members, and
you know, the addition of thosetwo schools, it just further positions at

(39:05):
WCC as one of the premier Divisionone conferences in the country. And you
know, both schools will help stabilizeour conference particularly. Why is that important.
It's because that this collegiate landscape isjust so fluid, you know,
with the recent realignments, particularly overthe past year, and it helps stabilize

(39:29):
a little bit. And you know, for our members, you know,
you know, it gives them someadvantages in terms of being able to schedule
better. Their recruiting will be enhanced, both the nine members previous and now
the eleven members. And just froma pure broadcast perspective, I think it's

(39:52):
really gonna be helpful for So thesetwo schools made sense for us. They
both you know, match the missionand vision you know of the WCC.
They both have a very good athleticprofiles, and both of them you know,
will strengthen our men's basketball, youknow, over the course of the
time of their membership. So thatwas the reason and how a Seattle you

(40:16):
in, of course Grant Canyon endedup in the WCC STU. We hear
so much about media markets. Ihave to think that you know, you're
Seattle and Phoenix, those two mediamarkets came into play as well, and
makes a ton of sense. Whenis your media deal up? Do you
have? I mean I say this, I say this all due respects to
do you have a true media deallike these other conferences. I don't think

(40:37):
you're in the fifty or sixty milliondollar range. I haven't seen any new
facilities going up in CLU yet,But I joke in that sense. But
what does a media rights deal looklike for the WCC and how much do
those two schools enhance it? Yeah? No, you bring up a good
point. We're not in the stratosphereof you know, the autonomy for conferences
or those types of media deals. However, it does not mean that we

(41:00):
cannot take advantage of, you know, the conference that we are when our
media deal is up in twenty twentyseven. And in part that was one
of the main reasons we decided toexpand, is that we have to prepare
ourselves as the conference for that eventualnew media deal. And you know,

(41:22):
if you look at broadcast partners inthis day and age, they're interested in
highly competitive games. They're interested in, you know, the atmospherics that their
games produced. They're interested in premiummatchups between very good, uh you know,
basketball schools. And we feel thatby the time our turn comes around
in twenty twenty seven, the WCCis going to be better positioned, you

(41:47):
know, to be one of thosetype conferences. But you know, it's
somewhat dependent upon what happens in themedia rights deals of other properties. You
know, by way of example, you know, the the NBA, their
media deal is about to close, and certainly that takes you know, money

(42:07):
out of the market. And thenyou have other conferences Power five conferences whose
media deals are up soon that willtake you know, money out of the
market. And then you have othersports quite frankly that will cut deals before
twenty twenty seven. We just wantto be prepared as best we can when
it's our turn to maximize our valuefrom a broadcast perspective as we can.

(42:36):
Stu Jackson is the commission of theWest Coast Conference, joining us here on
the Beacon Plumbing hotline. You addSeattle, you you add Grand Canyon,
the Phoenix and Seattle markets. ButI think if We're all being honest here.
We all know that the you know, for men's basketball, and really
probably for the conference as a whole. Really the big the big one that
makes everyone kind of the whole BoltRise would be in Spokane with Gonzaga.

(42:58):
There's been so much talks to overthe years about Gonzaga flirting with other conferences.
You worked with one of those otherconferences and for the other conferences,
the Big East for a while,I know, so you're very familiar with
the landscape. Is Gonzaga committed tothe West Coast Conference and staying long term
in this conference? You know,Gonzaga, you know, since I took

(43:20):
over this position over a year ago, has been a great partner of this
conference. And I will tell youwhat they say and how they behave indicates
one thing and that they are fullfledge invested in the WCC. Now,
listen, let's not be naives.Gonzaga has been courted. I would say

(43:45):
conferences have flirted with them dating backto twenty and seventeen, you know,
and named the conferences. I mean, it could be the Mountain West,
it could be the Big Twelve,it could be the Big East, it
could be others who knows, andit's incumbent upon Gonzaga that when other conferences
come calling with a potential of afinancial benefit to them, that they listen.

(44:10):
If I were them, I woulddo that as well. But until
this time, they are our partner. They are a WCC member now and
for the foreseeable future. But asI mentioned earlier, in this landscape,
you can't predict what's going to happen. And if someone comes along and offers

(44:32):
any one of our members, youknow, a right steal, a conference
rights steal, that is, makeit up five times five times what we
could offer. Well, yes,you know, given the financial financial obligations
that institutions faith in this day andage, as they begin to increase,
they're obligated to listen. And thatcould happen. But right now I can

(44:57):
tell you that Gonzaga has been,as I said, a terrific member of
this conference and continues to be.We we've become well versed, unfortunately,
as sports fans and sports media isdo and you know the ways of you
know, the binding contracts and andand all those things. We see that
right now with the ACC we allknow what happened with USC and UCLA,
and then the rest of the conference. In the PAC twelve falling apart,

(45:20):
it happened when a right steal thegrand of rights deals were done. How
does it work in your conference withthe w CC Is there a grand of
rights? What? What? Whatholds a Gonzaga or a Saint Mary's or
frankly, any any other member tothe w c C. Yeah, that's
a good question. We do nothave a grant of rights, and we
do, in fact have an egasyif a conference decides to depart the w

(45:45):
c C for another conference, youknow those exasies. You know, it's
true with our conference, as manyconferences around the country, they don't necessarily
hold institutions to a given conference becauseif a school is going to go,
they'll find a way to go.The only thing we can do is control

(46:07):
what we can control. And perhapsyou know one that you know discussion or
reasonable discussion is you know, shouldwe you know, increase you know,
our exit fees the way some conferenceshave around the country. It may not
make sense for us, but itmay. But there's really nothing at the
end of the day that's going tohold an institution in one given conference if

(46:30):
and when they decide to go whatwould an exit fee be for your conference?
Well, that's kind of privilege informationI'm not able to. I thought
we're good friends here, Stu.We've had a good conversation so far.
I hope we are terrific. Right, There's certain things you can't I get,
and I want to get to watchand say Orgy say in a second,

(46:51):
because as we're having this conversation,my mind kind of shifts a little
bit because one of the things whenI when I heard the sale of you
and Grant Canny, but sale youspecifically frus here and seat it was joining
this conference. I was thrilled becausewhen we you know, this is however
long it's been since Seattle you wentback to Division one. I grew up
in Seattle. My parents are bothalums. I've a sister who was alone
with Seattle you. I remember, you know, watching some of the great

(47:13):
players that played basketball at Seattle.You. I'm not quite old enough for,
say, the O'Brien brothers and Elgin, but I do remember guys like
Joan Oldham, Clinton Richardson, FrankA. Lenik Rodderlin, guys like that.
Over the years, I just alwaysbeen kind of a sleeping giant that
school, as you well know, for basketball, especially with the great basketball

(47:34):
youth programs we have here in Seattle, And I thought, wow, why
is you know, we've all thought, why is Seattle you not in the
WCC. Now they finally are greatrivalry in state with Gonzaga for a couple
of years or a year at leastWashington State perhaps as well. So I
guess that's why I'm asking those questionsbecause I just I really hope we see
Gonzaga and Seattle you in the sameconference to like minded you know, Catholic

(47:55):
schools that are in this conference fora long time so too. You know,
it's a very good point. Itreally affords the opportunity for Seattle to
create a new set of rivalries bothwithin state and out of state there,
I say, particularly in the Northwest. And I do think joining the WCC

(48:15):
and Seattle would echo this. Itwill allow them to perhaps step up their
recruiting even you know, from thepoint that it's already been and they've been
very good. They had a verysuccessful season last season. But you know,
being in the WCCUH and being insuch a talent rich city like Seattle

(48:36):
for not only high school players, but you know, players that have transferred
out may want to come back.I do think that Seattle You will benefit
and really vault them to a pointwhere they're able to, you know,
getting these matchups and compete and competeat a high level. So yeah,
it's going to be fun for SeattleYou it is, and fun for fans
in the Northwest. Stu Jackson joininga WCC commissioner. Well, Washington State,

(49:00):
Oregon State looking for homes for alltheir sports not named you know,
not named football. They're in theMountain West and your predecessor. We had
Gloria and navarrees on yesterday talking aboutthat. But Seattle You and Washington Oregon
State are parking most of their sportswith the exception of Oregon State baseball in
the WCC for the next year ortwo. What can you tell us about

(49:20):
that arrangement? How was it acceptedin your conference and especially as it pertains
to say men's and women's basketball. No, it was accepted widely in our
conference quite frankly. Yeah, wereally felt that having two institutions like Oregon
State and Washington State and the WCC, albeit for an abbreviated period of two
years, was a real win forthem and a win for us. It

(49:45):
affords them an opportunity to park twelvesports total between the two of them for
a two year grace period that's beengranted by the NCAA while they figure out
what in fact they're going to dowith their football program, which you know,
could be, you know, toeither go independent or if they get

(50:06):
to join another conference, or theyget to reconfigure their own conference, whatever
they decide to do. We werewilling and accepting, all of our members
were to have them in our conferenceacross those twelve sports, and you know,
not to sound redundant, but theytoo will raise the competitive level of
this conference, you know, albeitjust for two years in one of those

(50:30):
years with Seattle and Grand Canyon toreally you know, make this or keep
this conference at a national level ofrelevance. STU, did you have to
go to Randy Bennett and Mark Fewand say, hey, listen, man,
I don't need you guys pushing backhere? Or were they? Were
they good with this as well? Those are the two guys I'd be wondering
about, to be honest with you, No, my conversations with them,

(50:51):
they were very, very supportive ofboth moves. Both the affiliate moves with
Oregon State and Washington State, andalso Seattle and Grand can as well as
I should be. I mean, listen, if you're Randy Bennett, if
your marks you, you're just lookingfor opportunities to play quality games because having
the ability to play quality games helpsyou from a metrics standpoint in the eyes

(51:15):
of consideration for the NCAA, youknow, men's tournament, and it just
helps the overall competitiveness for your team. You know, where you're being challenged
on more nights than you might otherwisebe in a nine team conference. I'll
wrap it up with this, Stu, as you look around. You mentioned
the landscape of college athletics, it'sever changing. I mentioned you've worked with

(51:38):
the Big East Conference for the BigEast Conference. I know you had a
relationship with the Big Twelve when youkind of up the scheduling agreements that you
know were first kind of brought upwith those conferences and know this world.
Well, you're kind of in adifferent boat though, because you don't have
football in your conference, but youcan still see what's going on. It
feels like football certainly kind of drivesthe bus here to so to speak,

(51:58):
all across the country in a generalterm, and I guess I just look
for you, what do you thinkis going to happen over the next one,
two, three or four years? And when do you think do you
think we're going to see another seismicshift over the next twelve twenty four to
thirty six months, or do youthink things will settle down for the next
couple of years. It's a verygood question, but unfortunately I don't have

(52:19):
a crystal ball and to know whatwill happen. But we can all rest
assured. I don't think that youknow, realignment amongst college conferences has been
completed, is what the impetus willbe behind, you know, further realignment
by way of example, you know, as big and as powerful as the

(52:43):
power for conferences are each of theinstitutions in those leagues or those conferences,
they're not all created equal. Soyou know, you know, teams that
historically finished, by way of example, towards the out of them in the
major sports like football and basketball inthe SEC, may you know, decide

(53:06):
that, you know, maybe that'snot their cup of tea and decide to
you know, join another conference oror galvanize other schools of light sized budgets
in their own conference. I mean, who knows. I'm making this up
on the fly, but I thinkthat could be, you know, a
reason behind another shift in realignment. And then you know, you have you

(53:30):
know, schools like ours that arefocused on basketball only. And I've always
said, you know, having footballis both a blessing and a curse.
Curse. The blessing is obviously financial. The curse is, uh, you
know, they don't focus on basketballthe way you know we would in the
WCC or the Big East. Soyou know, but who's who knows what's

(53:52):
going to happen in the future.I can't even begin to predict, Stu.
I really appreciate we took a lotof your time, but great information,
great stuff. If we look forwardto talking to you again with Seattle
you joining that conference in a yearand a half's time or what will be
a guesst twenty twenty five. Untilthen, thank you so much. We'll
talk down the roads too. Yeah, no, thank you as well anytime.
Stu Jackson, w CC commissioner mangreat stuff to chew on. Will

(54:15):
do that after a PGA updates livefrom the R and R Foundation specialists broadcast

(54:39):
I give me my hoty eternal flame. Right you? She just does know
the Bangals? You do know theOkay, I'm bad with music. Okay,

(55:00):
I don't know. I know songs. Wait wait, you're what with
music? Oh my god, theaccent thing again. You're bad with music.
I'm bad with music. I thoughtyou said deaf with music. First
of all, it'll make me deafyou keep using that accent. First of
all, if you're deaf with music, that's a hard thing to be,
especially with wait for it, waitfor it. You're also in radio,

(55:22):
which is an audio medium. ButI know that's why I'm going deaf by
the second. But anyway, no, so I am identifying artists when it
comes to the songs. But Iknow songs. Good. There you go.
Well we're doing that today because theseTennessee Titans once again did their The
Man on the Streets release of theNFL schedule, and the first lady I

(55:45):
saw they're talking about their game againstthe Bangles and Joe Burrow. They'll never
top the one they did last year. I laughed last year's time that was
original. How much How many videosof the guys did you guys watch the
of the release nine? I watcheda couple just this morning because we're doing
the hits on on the Fox.Guys were wanting to do it and I'm

(56:05):
like the Bengals one cracked me up. Only Joe Burrows really good looking.
The I did laugh. The Chargerskind of took a shot at Ross moving
really yeah, which is kind offunny and anytime that happens, and they
they did, but Russ like withthe moving van or something. I think
it was. So that was good. Blitz was okay. I've seen better
from c X Digital Media team's reallygood. Blitz was just okay, smashing

(56:30):
things. I don't know. Yeah. The one the threat they did with
all of their opponents as villains wascool. Yeah, Yeah, that was
cool. Yeah, give me adamn schedule. Just give me the damn
schedule. People. They're trying torecreate without recreating what the Titans did because
it was so phenomenal last year, and so I think they're trying to do

(56:52):
something of their own. Went downcompletely. Every team, every Yeah,
as an NFL thing. The I'mgonna go back to Jackson for a second.
Great interview with him. He wasawesome, very open. We'll we'll
kind of revisit a little bit moreon tomorrow's show, especially the Gonzaga conversation.

(57:13):
You know, I like a guythat's honest. He's like yeah,
I mean they they we all knowthey flirted with other things and talked to
get Yeah, but I think whathe's Gonzaga is such an interesting place because
you are the biggest fish in avery small pond, and whereas USC and
UCLA where the impetus to the PACtwelve falling apart and disintegrating it. USC

(57:39):
more way more so than UCLA hadjuice. But just in terms of the
scale that we're talking about, youknow, by the conference, USC was
is not nearly and wasn't nearly asimportant to the Pac twelve as Gonzaga is
the WCC Because sorry, USC,you haven't been great in a lot of

(58:01):
things for a long time. Thetwo things that matter most men's basketball and
football. Whereas there are other schools, Washington just went to a title game,
and I just I would just I'lljust bring up a orgon the Oregon
brand to me is maybe I'm blindlynot even stupid, but please don't text
four one four to five one theBut the Oregon brand has become as big

(58:25):
I believes as USC if not biggerso. But Gonzaga is the WCC because
men's basketball floats the boat. Theymake sure and and Gonzaga brings the units
and the money in every year withevery time they get to the Sweet sixteen.
Don't kid yourself. Every other conferencemember is thrilled with that. They
wanted Saint Mary's to be better thanthey were in the tournament this year because

(58:47):
it brings in money to the conference. But Gonzaga is vitally important to that
conference. But by the same token, because you're Gonzaga, you have the
juice nobody else has in that conference. In Saint Mary's, Randy Bennett angry
little angry, angry little Randy withyour bald head. No, man,

(59:07):
you don't have that kind of juice. It's only Mark Few and Gonzaga that
have that juice. I think whatI heard from Stu Jackson is a guy
that wants to do everything he canto keep Gonzaga happy. And it doesn't
I've never thought it made sense forGonzaga to move to a different conference because
I don't think the WCC would allowthem to just take basketball and go and

(59:30):
they wouldn't, And so then you'dbring everybody else along with you for all
the other sports. Well, we'regoing to see that up close and personal
over the next couple of years, certainly with what Washington's sports are going to
do, not name football, whenthey're traveling across the country worse than Washington
and Oregon. What they've got todeal with is what Call and Stanford are

(59:51):
going to go through going to theACC. Like Gonzaga is a small school
in Spokane, You're not going toput your cross country team on a lane
and fly to go run across countrymeet in the Big East. If that
makes sense. Like I know, money talks, it doesn't make any sense
at some point, at some pointyou draw the line in the stand.

(01:00:12):
I think on Zag is smart enoughto do that. In the meantime,
just just you just go run roughshout of the conference. You've got two
teams coming in that will help youat least a little bit with your Depending
on what David Riley does and ifyou know Tinkle can get stuff going again,
You're you're better off for a coupleof years, and Seattle is going
to see how you're going to beplaying at Climate Pledgerina in a couple of
years. They're going to raise aprofile as well. Grand Canyon already has.

(01:00:36):
I like we you say about thesleeping Giant with Seattle, I think
Seattle's Seattle u history of basketball. The world has changed. The world has
changed. It's changed immensely. Weall know that. But but if there
are kids, and I think atsome point we're going to get back to
being a basketball city with good players. We've really taken a step back in

(01:00:58):
our area in terms of the levelof play just we just have We just
don't haven't had as many good playerscoming out of here. We haven't as
many D one players coming out ofhere, out of the state. Even
out of the state. A lotof that was COVID based. Our kids
were shut down while a lot ofthe rest of the country wasn't. And
that's just the way it happened. It's cyclical. I think we'll get back
to that. When we do getback to that, especially when you see
the Sonics come back, you're goingto see a really great situation because there's

(01:01:22):
gonna be enough kids that want thatare good enough to play D one,
that want to maybe stay close tohome, and there's only so many spots
for Washington. There's only so manyspots at Gonzaga, which doesn't do a
ton of recruiting in state anyway,They do have guys, but not a
ton. I think it's I thinkit's a win win all the way around.
In Grand Canyon is a really goodprogram. Like it's it's it's good

(01:01:43):
for everybody. So okay, topof the hour, we're gonna get back
into the Seahawks schedule schedule, asthey'd say, north of the border.
But speaking to north of the border, there's a battle tonight up in Vancouver.
Will tell you about that. TheDaily Power Play will also tell you
our guy Mike Benton. Do youguys remember him? Used to be on
the ready station all the time.I do not. You know I saw
him yesterday? Did you Was heworking? Yes? Ish ish He was

(01:02:07):
working very hard. On Tuesday, our guy Mike Benton putting together some stuff
from the Krack and Audio Network, including a little draft preview. We'll give
you a taste of that coming upin a second Daily Power play and then

Dallas Stars five to three the final. Dallas still leads that series three games
to two. They head back toColorado, back to Denver for game at
six in that series. As theyextended. Hale mccarr two goals, man,
I was telling we're talking about yesterdayat after we did our NFL show.

(01:03:17):
I was telling my buddy Mark rosenOur Fox, their team producer,
Cal McCart just haven't noticed him.Yeah, curtse kraftin Crison are talking like
I haven't noticed Kale mccarth sometimes.Yeah, two goals yesterday. You say
that Nathan McKinnon. Has McKinnon gonea game without a point yet? I
don't think so. It's ten straightnow, Geez, that straight pretty good.

(01:03:38):
Yeah, he's player. I've heardthat. Tonight in the National Hockey
League, there are two games Rangerstry to close out the Hurricanes. They
lead that series three games to two. That's a four o'clock start. And
then tonight seven o'clock Anders team hisfavorite team, the Edmonton Oilers. Wow,
that was a really good gut letit all take on the Vancouver Canucks.

(01:04:02):
That series is tied, two gamesof pie. We are all Canucks.
That series tied two games. CarsonSusi back in the lineup, served
the one game suspension. Some otherchanges for the Canucks in their lineup after
Rick Talckett called his team said halfthe team, we're a bunch of quote
passengers. Ripped them. We playedthat for you yesterday. How about some

(01:04:23):
other sound? Meanwhile, Kracking waitingon that number eight overall draft pick coming
up in the draft. Scott Wheelerfrom the Athletic joined our Mike Benton cracking
audio. Mike benon, Scott, this is Mike Benton, the number eight
pick. It feels should be aright shot defenseman. What do you think?

(01:04:45):
Scott Wheler on what the draft lookslike? After Maclin celebrating well,
I think the story of this draft, after Maclin celebrating when we looked back
on it five ten years from now, is going to be written about the
defense. This is a draft thathas really sick sixty who are viewed as
premium defenseman, plus the seventh inAdam Yirchek, who was viewed in that
group heading into this season but lostthe year to a pair of knee injuries

(01:05:10):
and is now a big question mark. But the sixth who are likely to
go at a very very top andI'm talking five in the top eight or
nine picks in all likelihood, andthen certainly all six gone before the team,
probably in that sort of top twelverange. That's rare as a draft.
Typically there are only two or threedefensemen taking in the top ten to
twelve picks. You really have togo all the way back to twenty twelve,

(01:05:33):
more than a decade ago, tofind a draft that had five or
six for the key taken right atthe top. And obviously twenty twelve with
the draft as Morgan Riley and TylerMyers and Mac Dumba and Campus Lindholme,
and that was really the story ofthat draft. When Maleiaco pop and alziyal
Kenya, the two tough forwards neverreally worked out. So this draft isn't

(01:05:56):
going to look like that because MacklinCelebriny is going to become star in the
n But I still think the storyof this draft maybe just the quality and
impact that these five or sixty arelikely to make in the NHL. I
think we've got not just some firstpairing types, but some potential true number
ones. And I also think we'vegot some guys who are going to put
up some big points from the backend in this group. So a big

(01:06:19):
mix of a lot of things togo sixty and that's going to be exciting
to sort of follow them and trackto see which of those six will really
rise above the crop as nhllers. There you go. That is Scott wee
were from the Athletic with Mike Ben. All that audio is in complete interview
breakdown of the draft on the krackand Audio Network app. You can get

(01:06:41):

the Coachella Valley Firebirds picked up athree to two win in Game one

scorers Devin shore Man, don't care, Jimmy schult named Max McCormick, Shane

(01:07:02):

an assist. That's good. ChrisDrieger is gonna be a free agent at
the end of the season. He'sgonna get him contract somewhere. He ended
up with thirty one saves our twentynine saves on thirty one shots, picking
up the win last night for CoachellaValley and also shout out so Jagger Fercus,

he's gonna be good man. Hehelped lead the Moosejaw Warriors, after
an MVP regular season to their firstever Western Hockey League championship last night.
Forty years for that franchise, along long wait to win their first ever
WHL title. They did it lastnight, sweeping aside the Portland winter Hawks.

Fercus was great. They now allmove on to the Memorial Cup against the
winners of the Ontario League and theQuebec Major Junior Hockey League. Jager Fergus,
I want to see him in auniform here, So I don't know

addicts in the eighties. That wasthe thing in the eighties, is cocaine
thing Andrews. Yeah, that's abig thing. What is cocaine? What

(01:11:20):
is cocaine? It's a drug andnot a good one, not a good
one. And it was a drugand not a good one. All Right,
what do we got here? Wegot I'll get the seat, ok,
schedule one thing. I want toget to this though. I got
to get to this first. Ihave to get to this. This audio
all right, you can actually playthat music. This is actually be good

(01:11:41):
music. Okay. So there wasa big deal made the other day about
the first game that Tom Brady callson TV as an analysts, And there's
this crazy thought that he's immatically goingto be great. Now he may be

(01:12:04):
great. He could also be notgood. He could be Jason Witten.
We've seen it before. He couldbe great, or it could be Jason
Witten. So they'll set up thething. You won't hear the dumbest thing,
but you'll hear the action of thedumbest things. Everyone's fired up and
hyped up for Tom Brady. Firstof all, I can't remember if ever

(01:12:26):
I've watched a game because of theanalyst. I might watch a postgame show
called T and T inside the NBAbecause of an analyst best show, But
I'm not watching a game for ananalyst. Have you ever not watched a
game because of an analyst? Letme tell you her name is. It
is Leah Hextall Nails on the ChuckerTom Brady is the Caitlin Clark of broadcasting

(01:12:51):
for you. You might actually watchbecause he would. I don't know.
I thought you. Actually, no, I would not. There's never been
in it. I can't. Ican't fathom an analyst that I would say
I gotta watch that game because ofthat analyst. Now I'm here the big
the big deal was made about this. So here's the dumbest thing. That
was the dumbest thing that was saidPablo Torres and Mina Kimes on ESPN.

(01:13:14):
We're raving about how it's he's gonnabe a hit, He's gonna be great,
He's gonna be fantastic. First ofall, you don't know that,
right, That's the dumb part. The reaction to it was fantastic because John
Chiambi, who is one of thebest play by play guys in baseball,
Yes, fantastic does actually does collegebasketball and some other things as well.
Does the MLB video game knows howto do play by play, understands the

(01:13:36):
challenges of the dynamics with it.Well, he kind of went after well
Mina and Pablo, which you're notsupposed to do that with Mina. Oh
that's a big no no. UhSo Pablo Torres offered to have him on
his podcast. It's hard to bean analyst, and the idea that,

(01:13:57):
look, if you're betting on it, more often than not, these guys
come to become color analysts. They'renot very good the ex athletes, like
in this case, Tom Brady,And there's so many reasons for it.
I mean, I would say numberone is they're not going to respect it
and put the work into it thatthey put into their game. But then
the next part that I would saythat you guys were missing is just this

(01:14:17):
idea of like, when Tom Brady'splaying the other team, he doesn't know
the first and last name of alleleven. On the other side, he
knows the corner's bad and he couldpick on him, but he doesn't know
his first and last name. Whenthe ball's thrown to him and he's broadcasting
a game, he's got to sayhis first and last name, and accessing

(01:14:39):
that is a completely different skill setthan the idea of oh he's open,
I can throw it to him.Like, it's completely different. Where I
was baffled by your take was Buthe also has the most sophisticated high speed
processing of the mechanics of the gameand axes and nos. He's dissecting a

(01:14:59):
defense a booth the way that hewould presumably on the field, and then
he's got to say it. Andthat has nothing to do with him playing
quarterback. If in the booth theyallowed him to throw the ball. I'm
not saying, Look, he mightbe good, but I was annoyed that
you guys gave him the benefit ofthe doubt that you think just because he
can process that he can process andspit it back out. No, we'll

(01:15:19):
see if he can. Don Giambispeaking the truth right there. It is
so different, man. I firstof all, it's so well articulated too
well. Yeah, because it's butI think this whole raw raw He's gonna
be great, is Tom Brady andall these things we don't know that.
I mean, there have been greatplayers that are awful analysts. That's just
the way it is. And whenyou're doing when you're in a booth,

(01:15:43):
and you're doing a broadcast TV orradio. It is such a different thing.
There's not a lot of people thatjust can jump into that and be
great. Now, he's gone througha ton of training, they've had him
out at I think Petrus has talkedabout this. He's been out at the
Fox lot and they're doing stuff, but doing as live kind of mock games
and stuff, way different than beingin a stadium. The headsets on,

(01:16:06):
the adrenaline's flowing, and what JohnShiambi said there is one hundred percent accurate
is that you know, just becauseyou can process on the field and check
down and out of a play doesn'tmean in the eighteen to nineteen seconds that
you have to give an analyst opinionand explain something that just happened on the

(01:16:28):
field with By the way, avideo element that you have to watch.
Your job in the TV booth issimple. You have to talk to the
monitor. You have to speak tothe monitor, you're not speaking to.
Radio is actually a lot easier todo the play by play with People think
it's it's easier because you're not speakingas an analyst. You're not speaking to

(01:16:49):
the video. You may want totalk about something, they may not have
that video. It may not bewhat's up on the screen. The producer
may give you something different. Youmay not have the angle, but on
the fly to be succinct and quickand and and really good at it.
Not everybody is. There are somethat are fantastic, there are some that
are not good. We all knowwho they are and who they are,

(01:17:10):
and it's just as simple as that. I would probably tend to lean on
the fact that Brady will be good. I think his ego will cause him
to work his ass off and putthe work in. But there's also been
great athletes that don't put the workin either, So just to assume that
he's going to be great, asPablo and Mina said, and that's why
John Shami and I think he wasinsulted by it, and I agree with

(01:17:31):
him. I think he should beinsulted by that. You know, you
know, to do that profession atthe highest of levels takes a unique skill
set and needs and takes a lotof talent, takes a lot of time,
work, and at experience. LikeI'm not going to throw out names,
but since you've been on the Cougarbroadcast for like fourteen years, there

(01:17:51):
were some analysts on those broadcasts, working with Chazz and and even Bud before
that that were just awful. Nowyou've got Alec, who's great, Who's
fantastic? You know, I've heardbroadcasters of the year for every broadcaster when
football, basketball, bas it doesn'tmatter, that are fantastic. And there's
also some that are just nails ona chalkboard and it's like, man,

(01:18:13):
stop talking, you cannot get itdone. And we all know who those
people are. So, yeah,is Brady gonna be good, Maybe it's
gonna be great. Maybe is hegonna fail? Probably a better chance to
these average or not good than heis that he's great. That's just the
reality of it. The other partof it, I want to bring it
up because it's a schedule. It'spart of it has to do with the
schedule. So their first game isWeek one, the Browns hosting the Cowboys,

(01:18:33):
kicking off the regular season schedule. That's a one twenty game. We're
not watching that here in Seattle, same time as a Seahawk game. So
like like this thought that oh we'reall gonna watch it, No one's watching
it. That late window is goingto have a handful of games, so
anyway, that just I kind ofI love John Chiambi. I think he's
fantastic of what he does and hecan do and he can do multiple sports.

(01:18:59):
That's the other thing, Like there'sthere's people that can do multiple sports.
He can do. Goldie's great.Goldie can do multiple sports. You
know. It does a great jobdoing He's doing stuff on Fox, you
know, but there's analysts and there'splay by play guys that just just aren't
very good. And so to assumethat Brady's going to step in there in
that first day and be great ashard, especially because Greg Olsen seemed to
get better and it was just like, dude, you're just a placeholder guy.

(01:19:20):
The guy although he did, Ithink we did criticize him a little
bit of the Super Bowl this year. Not a huge Greg Golsen fan.
I don't like him. I'm tryingto think who the best analyst is for
football right now. I like JonathanWillma a lot do when he does games.
Yeah, I'm trying to think ofguys that are just that jump off
the page at you. I becausethere's there's so many that are still in

(01:19:41):
it. Because I thought Gruden wasfantastic back in the day if we're going
to go, you know, inthe way back machine. He was one
that always stood out to me asjust different and really good while being Madden's
mad Mad Madden, but Madden wasjust different Madden. Madden was almost he
was he was Barkley and for football, right, he was just kind of

(01:20:01):
not as irreverent. But it wasbig personality and the oversimplified things. He
made it easy to understand, youknow, and things like that he did
it. I mean, I'll tellyou he's really good in our market that
that, you know, not everybody'sa hockey fan. And the old checks
unbelievable, awesome, Like he's likehe is entertaining to like he sees the
game, he describes it. We'vehad Brian bouche On before. He's fantastic

(01:20:25):
doing games. I think I thinkway too many of the NBA guys are
just the masters of the obvious. That's true, you know. Yeah,
it was a good shot. Youknow, took it from three. I
saw that, Like why why it'ssuch a different sport to analyze too.
It's you know, they kind ofget their bread and butter in when there's
a little bit of a time,a little break in time, explain what's

(01:20:46):
going on. Who fits it ingreat, who does a great job.
He's a husky. Jason Hamilton,he has an awesome j ham is really
really good. Does you mentioned NBA. I know he's getting older, but
he brown. Yeah. I thinkwith Hubie there's a thing with him that
when you hear his voice, yougo, God, this must be a
big game. Yeah exactly, Likethis must be a big game. Yeah,
got that Pavlovian response, Yeah, exactly, this must be a really

(01:21:11):
Hub's doing the game. He's thisis a big one. This is like
PJ ToJ. PJ doing March Madnesswas fantastic. Yeah, like he does
and he does like PAC twelve network, Well, I guess he'll be the
Pack two network now. And PJdoesn't have the best pipes in the world,
but he does a good job.Yeah. It does a good job
of explaining stuff as well, ifyou don't mind. Alex Brink said,
Alex, yeah, I know, but did I did? I go back

(01:21:35):
to Alex Brink. I have workedwith several animalsts in very a bunch of
different sports. The awful and heis he he does what I think people
think Tom Brady will be able todo is see the field, diagnose what's
going on, and distill it ina small period of time and let the

(01:21:58):
average two X experience fan understand what'sgoing on. Is kind of what Romo
did the first couple of years, and then somehow has turned. And I
don't know why. I don't watcha lot of Sunday or listen a lot
of Sunday Football, but every timeI look at social media, it feels
like people are now they went fromloving Tony Romo to hating Tony Romo and

(01:22:19):
then obviously the the Troy Aikman factorpeople hate Aku. I think herbstreet does
a great job. You know,Herbstreet's one of those rare commodities that is
awesome on the analyst desk, inthe desk and then you know, fly
somewhere in his private jet. Asweird as he is, as weird as
it is with his dog that is, I love it. I think that's

(01:22:41):
a weird thing. But not everybodywants the dog around the production truck.
But anyway, the but he doesa great job of transitioning from game day
into the booth all a big gameand then Amazon on front. Now he
does a Thursday Amazon I like toprep for all those it's he's remarkable to
you. Okay, on from that, So thea X chedule comes out yesterday.
We asked the question earlier four nine, four to five one. We'll

(01:23:03):
get to the text bottom of thehour. Your favorite primetime game day as
a fan? So if your team'sgonna play one, Hawks play four this
year. But if your team wasto play one, just the one,
what would it be? Would itbe Monday Night football, Sunday Night football,
or Thursday Night football? Four nine, four to five one. Tell
themo text line, what's your favoritefor you to watch? What's your favorite

(01:23:26):
one? Monday night, Sunday nightor Thursday Night football? Four nine,
four to five one. We'll getthose texts coming to the bottom of the
hour mentioned earlier. Just a coupleof notes here, we haven't even got
to this yet today. Hawks thisyear are going to travel a little bit
less than they did last season, which is nice. We will travel about
four thousand miles less than they didlast year thirty one six last season domestically,
and I'm using the term domestic becauseare our teams at fly overseas.

(01:23:48):
Although there's a great story out rightnow about how teams are that are flying
overseas are now doing it more andmore like they would if they were flying
coast to coast, and how it'sbecome more of a norm for these teams
to play in the in Europe. They didn't mention the West Coast teams because

(01:24:09):
what was mentioned in there was, well, yeah, if you're playing,
you know, an early game inEurope and you can fly back and be
in Foxboro or New York or whereverearlier than you would be if you were
playing in Seattle, which is great. That doesn't help look the team in
Seattle. If you're Seattle, SanFrancisco, the Chargers, the Rams,
the Cardinals, it doesn't help. But that aside. The interesting part with

(01:24:31):
all that is that the travel forSeattle is still among the highest in the
league. This season, San Franciscomight have a couple thousand more miles I
believe, really, but yeah, this just this year, Okay, just
this year, like I was likethe last couple of years, Seattle.
This year, this year, welllast year was thirty one six for Seattle,
twenty nine to nine for San Francisco, twenty seven thousand last season four

(01:24:55):
minutes or for Miami, which makessense because they had to come out they
must, and Miami will do alot this year because they got to come
out West a couple times. Andthe LA teams. Both LA teams were
at twenty six thousand miles last seasonfour times in twenty twenty three. The
Seahawks went to the Eastern time zonetwo this year, which is better.

(01:25:15):
The biggest thing I think for Seattleis this, you have to start strong.
The only reason they were in itlast year is they started strong.
They lost that first game, butthen they ripped it off and they went
five and two and they were sittinga top for a week the NFC West
before they lost four in a row. Actually they lost four of their next
six, and then the Samprus fourgames in a row, but four their

(01:25:39):
next five, and then the fortynine ers got on a heater and they
never looked back, and the Ramsdid as well, and the Seahawks fell
out of the playoff race. Ithas been since twenty and sixteen. Twenty
sixteen the last home playoff game forthe Seahawks with fans. Wow whoa twenty
twenty they had a home playoff game, but they were no fans, right,

(01:25:59):
So it's been a long time.It's been a long time since they've
had a chance to play in frontof their home fans for a playoff game.
I did not know that, Yeah, that is it didn't occur to
me to think about. But abunch of wild card appearances, right,
they were there. Yeah, Imean one year they played the twenty nineteen
they played two games, so theyplayed in Philadelphia in Green Bay. Twenty
twenty, they won the division, but nobody was home because it was covid

(01:26:23):
UNTI. The last playoff win.Last playoff win was in Philadelphia in twenty
nineteen, that's right, Well itwas January of twenty twenty, but yeah,
it was. Yeah, yeah, they went to Philly. Remember they
won that game in Philly. Theywent to the play played in the snow
enough in Green Bay and then ourworld shutdown after that and they won the
division next year, but there wereno fans, and I can't you can't
count that as a plumb playoff game. It's right, you know, it

(01:26:45):
was. It was the eeriest, weirdest thing I've ever ever been a part
of it, and I hope Inever am again, but it was.
It's been a while, so theyneed to get off to a good start.
We mentioned Denver and New England. Those are the two games I penciled
out right away yesterday, guys,I penciled out wins right away, like
right away, ten wins. That'skind of what I got as well.
And then I got three losses thatI wrote down for sure, and then

(01:27:09):
four fifty to fifty games. AndI won't go through all of them,
but I mean, I'll just tellwins are the first two for sure.
Yep. Like you have to winthose first two because I start, because
Miami comes to town. That's afifty to fifty game. You go to
Detroit, You've had great success there. At some point that's going to run
out. Ye That is, like, it just is. That's a good
football team. They have to travel, but they are on resty they have

(01:27:31):
an extra day because it's the Mondaynight game. But I still I think
their most impressive win last season, even though it was overtime and even though
they blew a ten point lead inthat game, was in Detroit. Because
remember Detroit had gone to Kansas Cityand beat Kansas City the first week.
In that Thursday night game, Ithink they should have gone to the Super
Bowl, and people and that building. It was that town for Week two

(01:27:55):
was on. It was crazy. They when they opened the doors, the
building was full an hour and ahalf before the game. It was it
was just in Seattle. Shell shouldhad them. Yeah, Trey Brown had
to pick six. They were upby ten and they gave up the late
lead. Defense was awful, butthen Gino and company marched down the field
and they get the Tyler has atouchdown. But that's a tough one the

(01:28:16):
Giants. That's a win, hasto be a win all day is a
win. So you're kind of sittingpretty there San Francisco on Thursday night,
October tenth. Tough one, likereally tough game, Like a really tough
game. I think I think Seattlemight be able to get one against San
Francisco this season, but I don'tknow. It's it feels like there's still
a pretty big gap between the twoteams. You go to Atlanta, question

(01:28:40):
is is Kirk Cousins the quarterback oris at Michael Pennix. That's Week seven,
who will be your quarterback? Whatif the Seahawks are the ones to
unseat Kirk Cousins take them off acouple of times, Oh my god,
start Pennicks. What a storyline thatwould be, that would be insane,
What a great storyline that would be. Where Cousins has struggled for the first

(01:29:02):
six weeks of the year, messingaround comes out. Devin Witherspoon, a
pick a couple, sacks, strip, sack. All of a sudden,
Biram Murphy smashes him in the face. Cousins look up, Michael Pennock's warming
up on the sideline. Let's go. Let's have a storyline that would be

(01:29:23):
sick. It's an easy story towrite. Buffalo, I think is a
win. I agree they're coming down. This is This is not the same
Buffalo Bills team that went to theAFC title game on an annual basis only
to lose to Kansas City. NoStefan Diggs, no Gabe Davis. I
kind of feel like they're going totake a little bit of a step back,
and that's here in Seattle. That'sthe clincher for me is that it's

(01:29:46):
here. I wouldn't feel as confidentif it wasn't home field advantage not been
when it's been recently. Though difficult, a Buffalo coming here also isn't easy
for them. The Rams here inNovember third. That's a scary game.
Pete Carroll got fired in part becausehe couldn't beat Sean McVay. It's it's
really I mean, if you lookat all the things that you were kind

(01:30:08):
of check marks against, Pete Carroll, you couldn't beat Sean McVay. You've
lost five straight to the forty nineers. Yeah, and not just getting
beat you got out coached every singlegame at San Francisco, lost Arizona.
Gotta beat those guys. Never easy. They play their ass off, they
play hard. I say they beatthe Jets. Yeah, Jets, the
wild card je Jets are Come on, Jess, come on, Jessess,

(01:30:33):
Jess, Jess, Oh, Jess. No I would, but yeah,
no, I think that the masterreceiving core in the NFL. It's a
little more fifty to fifty than Iwould have said in the past. I
put Green Bay is a fifty tofifty game. Yep, I think that
a fifty to fifty because anything canhappen there. Well, it just depends

(01:30:54):
on so much. It honestly setsup for the last couple of games of
the year. Should in LA It'sgonna be one of those kinds of years
for Satt the one thing that givesme hope. And people say you're overly
optimistic, you're crazy, you're allthese things. Listen, the Seahawks last
season did not have a healthy team, especially on the offensive line. I

(01:31:14):
think the offensive line is better fortwo reasons. One, the two starting
tackles only they started. They juststarted a half dozen games together. Last
year. They only played really fourgames together. Crossing and Lucas hurt the
first game, Lucas out for awhile, Lucas finally comes back, it's
hurt again in the game. Hecomes back, never finished that game.

(01:31:35):
So I just think that you haveyou're gonna be better there. Scott Huff's
gonna make you better. I trustin the fact that they're going to be
better on the interior. The linedoesn't mean they've made up the difference for
the San Francisco forty nine ers andthat type of no Aaron Donald in the
Rams is a different story too.So I think the offensive line is better.
I think if those two guys thetackles are healthy, you're going to
be better. That's what gives meoptimism for this team. But the over

(01:31:59):
under seven and a half, andyou've got to take the overall day,
all day on this team. Andguys, they hired a coach who is
not coming in to rebuild. He'scoming in to win right now today.
Biran Murphy's gonna make a difference,Christian Hayin's gonna make a difference. You're
gonna have an offensive coordinator that probablyknows how to use dk ME. I
was gonna say, I'm as excitedfor Ryan Grabs i am Forrenny Player on
this time. I think it's anice breath of fresh air PJA Championship update
