Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Yesterday we saw got the report that NBC has hired
Michael Jordan as a special contributor to their NBA package.
No details, and we, of course are part of Peacock,
which is owned by NBC. So I went up the

(00:25):
flagpole and I'm like, can somebody help me understand what's
going on with Michael Jordan? What's his role? What does
that mean crickets? And I went, hello, Hello, I used
to be a big deal. Apparently not anymore. And so
I went outside of the company and I said, okay,

(00:48):
got any indication on what Michael is going to do?
And then I was told, hey, I don't have this definite,
but I know that Mike's going to be used throughout
the year on the broadcast. I don't know. Are they
going to bring him in as an analyst? Are they
going to go to him to do interviews? I can't
imagine Michael. Let's say you pay him what Brady's getting

(01:10):
from Fox. That doesn't change his life. Mike is worth
two billion dollars. He loves to play golf. I'm just
surprised that unless there's a bigger picture here, which there
has to be, but no details here. It's not like
Mike is going to be showing up like Charles Barkley
and Shaquille O'Neal.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
When Mike put out the Last Dance.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Documentary, that was strategic to remind a whole different generation
of how great Michael Jordan was, because Mike did not
want to do that. I had friends who worked at
NBA Entertainment and they were sitting on this treasure trove
of interviews, footage, interviews from other players. Mike had control

(01:58):
over this, and they would be filming and I remember
back in the day, you'd see the guys from NBA Entertainment.
They'd be filming and I would say, what's this for?
And one of the guys said, we don't know, we're
just following Michael. And I kept thinking, you know, is
there something down the road. And then of course we
got the Last Dance. Michael wanted to remind everybody because

(02:21):
Lebron had just won a title, and I think that's
when Mike wanted to let everybody know, Hey, check out YouTube,
check out my highlights. I'm still the greatest player ever
play this game. But as far as what Mike's going
to do for NBC and PEACONK for their NBA coverage.
I don't know, and even speculating, I want to be

(02:43):
fair because NBC is probably going to have an announcement
at some point with Mike, and I'm going to guess Michael,
and you know, maybe this is one of those We're
going to figure it out as we go, what you
want to.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Do, how you want to do this.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
But I I got no indication yesterday from anybody at NBC.
I think it's I think it's in the I think
they're still working it out.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
How's that, yeah, Pauling.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Michael Jordan made it estimated three hundred million dollars in
twenty twenty four just in earnings from Nike and other entities.
Plus he sold his stake in his basketball team, which
earned him at least another nine hundred million. Could you
see Michael being used because my guess he's not going
to fly up for a Tuesday night breakdown of a games.
But when Kobe Bryant did details, and it was Kobe

(03:32):
breaking down film and giving a deep dive of opinion
well produced to get Michael Jordan's mind, with free freedom
to talk without a limit on it would be fantastic.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah, I think you if you wanted to position him
in a you know, with this similar format, I think
it would be great to get inside. You know, Kobe
with details was wonderful because you understood just you know,
the minutia that was important to him, and I'm sure
sure Mike was the same way. But if you can
get him to look at certain aspects of a team

(04:05):
or a player, break that down, great. I just don't know,
you know, Mike's availability.

Speaker 5 (04:13):
Yeah, That's what's so weird about it is that it
feels like normally you would get somebody like that, put
them on the road and they would go interview a
star athlete or whatever. But I think it's really more like, okay,
star athlete, what do you want to ask me? I know,
I'm Michael Jordan. What do you want to know from me?
Instead of him learning about that person coming up? Cooper
Flag Interviews Michael.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Jorden, all right, Cooper, what do you have to ask
me about? How to do this? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (04:38):
Whatever you want and I'll do my best.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Age seven seven three DP show email address Dpatdanpatrick dot com,
Twitter handle a DP show. Good morning if you're watching
on Peacock or listening on our radio affiliates around the country.
So the MAVs win the lottery, Spurs seventy six ers
in Hornets go two, three and four, Nix up three
to one. Jason Tatum still waiting for results of that MRI,

(05:03):
but certainly the early indicator was an achilles. Timberwolves are
trying to say goodbye to the Warriors, up three games
to one, and tonight Pacers at the Cabs, Pacers are
getting seven and a half. The Nuggets are getting ten
at Oklahoma City poll question for hour two is gonna
be what seton?

Speaker 3 (05:22):
We got a couple of them up.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
There right now. Who would you rather have Anthony Davis
and Cooper Flag or Luca Doncs. I think that people
are getting this wrong. I think I would still rather
have Luca than both of those dudes. That's just me, though.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
We also put up there, wait a minute, wait minute.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
So if I said to Dallas, we're gonna send Luca back,
but Cooper, Flag and Ad are going to the Lakers.
So you're saying, if you're Dallas, you would still want Luca.
I would what would the Lakers want? I think you
should want Luca too.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
If you put it another way, that's that's extremely disrespectful.
But okay, I'll throw it out there. Would you rather
have street clothes in a high school kid or or
a grown man in street glows?

Speaker 1 (06:15):
You know?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Yeah, yeah, I know that Luca has proven his greatness
and Cooper Flag is projected to be great. Ad certainly
helps that void in the middle that Minnesota took advantage of.
Everybody took advantage of. It seemed like, yeah, that's interesting.

Speaker 5 (06:36):
We also have up there a topic that we haven't
really gotten into yet. But yesterday Marvin agreed to Dot
Dot a pie for getting hit in the nuts.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
You said the Celtics weren't going to lose another game.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
Man, what a hot tat that lasted not even twenty
four hours last like eight?

Speaker 5 (06:52):
That's okay, twelve. Where do you want the pie? Where
do you want the pie? Is such a funny way.

Speaker 6 (07:02):
To what do I want the pie?

Speaker 7 (07:05):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (07:05):
And well I want the pie in the face and belly.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
No, but you said yesterday that you would take a
pie to the groin.

Speaker 6 (07:12):
I did not, But for contents sake, I will take
a pie.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
I no, no, because we talked about you know, who
wins if they're giving you a pie to the groin.

Speaker 6 (07:22):
Ye. And I listened back and I emphatically say no,
I that okay, in my head there was a curse word.
But you know what, it's probably an easier cleanup. So
I'm going to take a pie to the plumps.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Okay, all right, who would you like to give you.

Speaker 6 (07:43):
Back room?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Ray?

Speaker 6 (07:45):
Ray was gentle last time? Really, that's right?

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Ray, who's the producer of the gambling podcast, the self
proclaimed fastest guy in the building.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Everybody wants to I. I.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
There was a big argument they have the about who's
the fastest guy in the building, all the back room guys,
and and all of a sudden they say, all right,
I'll put up five hundred dollars. You guys have a
race winner take all. And one of the people we
thought would be involved and be one of the favorites
who did come out and say that he could beat
Zion Williamson in a race, Rob the resident Knicks fan.

(08:22):
He says that he's not racing, and I went, okay,
I don't know why, but he did say he would
beat Zion in a race, like so random?

Speaker 3 (08:34):
You know, you know how fast I am? I could
beat Zion?

Speaker 6 (08:37):
What so I put my yearly salary.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yeah, I'm taking Zion. Yeah, yeah, I'm taking Zion. But
now he might be able to beat Luca, but I
don't think he's going to be. So we're going to
have that for you. Who is the fastest man in
the building. Have that for you coming up. That's a
major accomplishment. By the way, fastest man in building, they'll
sleep on that. Well, there's only twelve of us here,

(09:04):
and I'm not going to be running. Todd's not going
to be running, so there's going to be a big
germans not running, So we're down to maybe nine, maybe eight.
But the fastest man in the building, you'll get to
wear that title for a year, for a year. What

(09:25):
other pole questions? Seaton for hour two?

Speaker 3 (09:28):
Yeah, those are those are the ones we're going.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
Okay, now let me I could get you some results
if you'd like.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
By the way, the worst record ending up with the
number one pick has happened nine times in the history
of the lottery. Nine times. The last time twenty eighteen
Phoenix Suns DeAndre eighten. That was the Luca draft, Trey Young.

(09:56):
If you had to do it over, imagine you whiffed
on two future Hall of Famers, not just Luca. You
whiffed on Trey Young as well. Oh boy, that's when
owners get involved.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
And you say, no, no, no, you know, we want
somebody who's local.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Went to u of A and uh we got DeAndre
Ayton and go okay, you had Luca's coach on your
coaching staff.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
Yes, if you screw up the draft at the one spot,
you just got to pray that the two, three or
four aren't Hall of famers. If you go back, remember
Anthony Bennett of UNLV. What was that two thousand Cavaliers
twenty thirteen to the Calves and he did almost nothing
like he was a true bust.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
I remember watching UNLV play and I couldn't remember Anthony Bennett.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
He looked like a superstar.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
The players drafted after him, nice players, Victor Oladipo, Otto, Porter,
Cody Zeller, Alex lenn Nerlen's nowell, you're pretty safe there.

Speaker 6 (11:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
I remember getting into an argument with Chris Mannix. Remember
Chris Mannix, I told him Victor Oladipo would have been
a better draft pick than Anthony Bennett. I had the
schedule release for the International Games, because nothing is going
to be a secret apparently by tomorrow night. I'll have
that for you coming up in about ten minutes from now.

(11:23):
A couple of phone calls in here Hunter in West Virginia.
Hi Hunter, good morning.

Speaker 8 (11:30):
Dan's good to talk to you again.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Well, thank you Hunter.

Speaker 8 (11:33):
I had a couple of quick things. First of all,
I'm like to weigh in on face Poole question. I
would raviitate Lukadancik. He is a very very good player.
And I think Jerry West said it best a few
years ago when he was on that podcast that forgot
the name of it, that he's a very very good player.
So i'd also I also want to wish he was.

(11:56):
I'd also want to wish you a very early happy birthday.
I know you're birthday in a couple of days, so
here's a little early Christmas. You have to have a
belated Limerick Day. Limerick about the DP show.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Okay, here's Hunter in West Virginia.

Speaker 8 (12:12):
There once was a fella named Dan who makes mornings
much more grand. Fritzy and Seatan are a hoot, Pauline
is swelled to boots, and Marvin's no flash in the pan.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Well, thank you hunters.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Some positivity here on a Tuesday Morningesday.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Yeah, positivity. Yes, Marvin, we'll.

Speaker 6 (12:32):
Be down in Atlanta for your birthday. What are we doing,
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
I guess we go to dinner on Thursday night at
Magic Magic City.

Speaker 6 (12:41):
It's about a mile away.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Yeah, Oh, it's miles away from her. I'm not unless
Cardi b is going to be there dancing. I don't
think I'm gonna She's.

Speaker 5 (12:53):
Just at the game. He's just at the next game
with the Stefan Diggs. Maybe that's why she was in
my mind, sitting next to the Cardians and Timothy chad Man.
Timothy is Chado May. He's balling right now. He that
kid is balling. Tim shallow May loves hoops, he does.
He loves playing pickup basketball. And I love that guy.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Yeah, and I respect that. Although I don't need the
Kardashians there. Why, I don't know, don't take up a
good seat.

Speaker 5 (13:26):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (13:26):
She's there with her guy loving it. Bring somebody who
knows basketball. I mean, she dated a lot of the
basketball players. But I don't know Kendall or Kylie.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
I can't tell both of them. I think Kendall, what
was Cardi Bino? What does she know?

Speaker 9 (13:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (13:45):
I don't know that she knows basketball necessarily.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
I think she's a baller.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
He did about them, Yes.

Speaker 6 (13:54):
Mart Kenvill doesn't know that much about basketball. She did it.

Speaker 5 (13:57):
Ben Simmons, who was our guy in Phoenix, Devin Booker,
he's he's in orbit there for a while every couple
of months.

Speaker 6 (14:11):
Yeah, she's got a type.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
Yeah not but but she likes scores and non scores.
She's open minded.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
Oh, I think they all score. They are going to
be filthy rich. Ben Simmons waited like three or four weeks.
You know, I want to take it.

Speaker 6 (14:25):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
I don't score very often.

Speaker 6 (14:28):
For the first time ever, Kendall, I'm gonna shoot my shot.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Who nice break down.

Speaker 5 (14:34):
Yeah, he's just there like a lot of defense, a
lot of protection.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
But yes, you were mentioning this before. Timothy Chalome is
on a great run. Is he both a movie star
and great actor?

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Yes, he's both.

Speaker 6 (14:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Man at a young age, Yeah, I think so. I think.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Now he could just cash in on his looks and
be in movies like Dune and some of those you know,
box office hits. But I think he wants to be
a great actor.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
And I think the sports stuff he did college game day,
He's done a lot of sports stuff. It's really getting
to people are embracing.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Yeah, yeah, I respect him. There's a difference between being
a star and being a great actor, Okay, And this
led me to what I was saying initially about Jason
Tatum and that he is a great basketball player, not
a star. Trey Young is a star, Jason Tatum is

(15:31):
a better basketball player. That's the difference. That's what I've
tried to bring up, and everybody is, I think missing
that point. Greg Anthony, who criticized me on social media,
He's going to join us coming up next hour, I believe.
But that was the point I'm trying to make. There
are a couple of stars, but then there are great
basketball players. How about we take a break. And I

(15:53):
feel weird discussing this today, certainly with what happened with
Jason Tatum, but Greg, Greg going to join us, Christopher
mad Dog Russo is going to join us coming up
next We'll get to more phone calls as well. We're

More of your phone calls coming up. Greg Anthony, former
NBA player, now works for NBA TV. He'll join us
coming up. I think he took offense to my opinion
on Jason Tatum. This is prior to the injury last night.
Still waiting for the results of that, MRI. I also
have the list of international games for the NFL. Have

(17:39):
that for you coming up as well. Christopher mad Dog Russo,
host of mad Dog Unleashed on Sirius XM channel eighty two,
host of ESPN's First Take and Mad Dog Sports Radio
channel and mad Dog Unleashed weekdays at three Eastern. Also,
you can see him on First Take with Steven A.

Speaker 6 (17:58):
Smith.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Are you a conspiracy theorist when it comes to sports?

Speaker 9 (18:01):
Well, you're talking about the Mavericks. I mean it is
a little crazy.

Speaker 11 (18:04):
I mean a one point eight percent chance to get
the lottery and to win the lottery and they get it. Uh,
you know, I understand they're so worried about tanking, But Danny,
isn't there something wrong when Utah, Washington and Charlotte can't
win the freaking lottery or don't have a chance.

Speaker 9 (18:21):
To get the top three picks. Isn't that? Isn't that
wrong in sports?

Speaker 11 (18:25):
And I understand they're worried about these teams that twenty
games to go not caring, which is an indictment in itself,
But isn't that isn't it time maybe we pass on
the lottery and give those worst teams the best chance
to get the one pick.

Speaker 9 (18:39):
Why don't we just do the lottery with the.

Speaker 11 (18:41):
Three or four worst records and not include Dallas or Houston.

Speaker 9 (18:46):
But that was a trade.

Speaker 11 (18:47):
But you know what I'm saying, to give the worst
teams the chance to get I mean, really, I mean
that is a little rough. And last year, obviously Atlanta
won the lottery, they had a three percent.

Speaker 9 (18:58):
Chance to win.

Speaker 11 (18:59):
So and you know, it all starts with Ewing and
eighty five with Stern. It was a TV show at first.
They get a little TV juice.

Speaker 9 (19:06):
But you know, am I a conspiracy theory a theorist? No?
But I think you and I both agreed.

Speaker 11 (19:12):
It doesn't look good for the NBA that the Mavericks
win the lottery after they trade Luca. You know, my
here's what my twenty one year old said, Dad, somebody
must have told Ego Harrison, do us a favorite get book,
the to a big market, and we'll figure out a
way for you.

Speaker 9 (19:27):
To get the number one week in a draft. I mean,
that's what it leads to. That's what it leads to.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Yeah, you start to look at it and you go, Okay,
Lebron went to his hometown. Dereck Rose went to his hometown.
Ewing goes to the Knicks. Everything that was attached to
that were you. Were you on the air in eighty five.

Speaker 9 (19:46):
Not in New York?

Speaker 3 (19:47):
Okay, I was in Orlando.

Speaker 9 (19:49):
I don't remember.

Speaker 11 (19:51):
Everybody remember it's a great picture of the busher who
was all excited and ewing, and you know, there was
a lot of people who thought that was rigged. You
and I, you know, are good sports fans. We don't
think it's rigged. But it doesn't look good. And I again, Utah, Washington,
and Charlotte earned it. They deserve to have the top
three to four picks in a draft.

Speaker 9 (20:11):
They have it. I mean, what did Utah get.

Speaker 11 (20:13):
The sixth pick, fifth pick, Charlotte got the sixth to
seventh pick.

Speaker 9 (20:17):
And there's only four or five guys who make a
big difference.

Speaker 11 (20:19):
Anyway, Flag is one of them, and he ends up
going to the team that doesn't really need him, you know,
with Kyrie and with the front court and of course
Anthony Davis. It looks bad for the NBA and the
idea that we got to make sure we put a
lot our in so the San Antonio Spurs don't tank,
which what they did to get Duncan is really an

(20:40):
indictment in the whole sport. Isn't the idea of trying
to go out there whenevery game that you're play, it's
an indictment in the whole sport.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
How about that instead of a final four, you have
the bottom four, and you have the bottom four teams
played for the right to have the number one pick.
I have to incentivize some of these teams because Mark
Cuban got fined six hundred thousand dollars when he was
on our show Sho a couple of years ago by
saying that basically it was a front office tanking that
they were guilty of. So that's where you know, the

(21:08):
players who are playing are gonna play hard. You just
don't put the best players out there correct play hard.
Is there a way to incentivize teams let's say once
you get eliminated, the number of wins you have after
you get eliminated will create the order, the draft order.

Speaker 11 (21:23):
Yeah, that's a good point something like that, you know,
to avoid these teams just you know, basically throwing off
their hands in the last ten, twelve, thirteen games of
the year. Yeah, you would think there's an element of
it that they can do something.

Speaker 9 (21:38):
And it's a TV show. They like the drama, they
like the cards up.

Speaker 11 (21:42):
It's a TV show, and the NBA should eliminate the
idea that they're going to have a TV show to
determine who goes out there and gets the number and
gets the card flipped. I mean it really, is it?
I mean Dallas wins the lottery. I mean san Antonio
gets the second pick.

Speaker 9 (21:58):
I mean really, I mean, come, why don't we just
get the Spurs six players? For crying out loud? It
looks very bad for the NBA. I don't know, and
I don't believe it is a conspiracy. I'm with you, but.

Speaker 11 (22:10):
It looks such a perception is awful. And if I
got a twenty three year old, he's a good NBA
fan and a good sports fan. If he says that
to me at nine o'clock last night. That's a problem.

Speaker 9 (22:20):
That is a problem.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Christopher mad Dog Russo host a mag Dog Unleashed and
you can also see him on First Take you see
every Wednesday with Steven A.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
Smith.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
I likened this spotlight to vitamin D. You know some
of us, you know, getting out and getting sunshine. The
spotlight is vitamin D. To Jalen Brunson, he seems to
just he absorbs it. And you know, once again, when
you're around him, you stand next to him like you're
going that guy is going off for you know. This

(22:50):
is his what's seventeenth time he's had thirty or more
points in a playoff game.

Speaker 9 (22:54):
Man, he's got a tremendous shot.

Speaker 11 (22:56):
He kept a minute last night, he had that great
third quarter with the eighteen points. And I just heard
you there a little while ago with Tatum. I mean,
it's a horrific probably a bad injury. I don't think
they've announced anything yet, and I hate to see we
all hate to see it. He's a great player, but
the Knicks are gonna win that. I don't want to
hear if Celtic fans say, well, we could have know
the game was over. I mean it was one thirteen

(23:17):
to one oh four when he got hurt. The Knicks
won that game in the third quarter they got offense.
But Brunson has been incredible. You're one hundred percent right.
I mean nobody saw this. I say one thing that's
interesting if you go back to that Dallas Utah series
when he was a Maverick in the first half of
it about what it was a four or five years ago,

(23:37):
he played, Luca was out.

Speaker 9 (23:39):
He played really well in that series.

Speaker 11 (23:41):
Obviously, Leon rose short and then with Luca came back
in the second half of the series and they beat
the Start beat the Jazz in six games.

Speaker 9 (23:50):
But Brunson in the first half of.

Speaker 11 (23:52):
That series did an incredible job. I've heard he's a
great guy. I mean it seems like he's even like
the commercially does like the way he handles it with Defangenzo.
I mean, listen last night, he was great. He gets
to his spots. I am shocked. I thought after the
Celtics won Game three, they were gonna figure out a
way to get back.

Speaker 9 (24:11):
And win this series.

Speaker 11 (24:12):
I you know, I'm not shocked about Cleveland. I thought
Cleveland was a paper tiger. I thought they were a
regular season team. I think Indiana's very underrated. That series
isn't over yet, but I'm not shocked they're up three
to one.

Speaker 9 (24:24):
I think we're all shocked at.

Speaker 11 (24:25):
The Knicks are up three to one, and now they're
gonna obviously, you know, he's not gonna play, so they're
gonna figure out a way to win that series.

Speaker 9 (24:32):
You know.

Speaker 11 (24:32):
And I said yesterday on my show there Dan, I
guess I was wrong. I thought there were six teams
that had a chance to win a championship.

Speaker 9 (24:38):
It was wide open.

Speaker 11 (24:39):
I have not been that impressed with Oklahoma City. I
am not that impressed with Denver. You know, the Celtics
have been vulnerable. And the two teams I said, I
don't think they can win a championship for the Warriors.

Speaker 9 (24:51):
And the Knicks. Maybe they got it wrong. Maybe the
Knicks will win the NBA title.

Speaker 11 (24:55):
They after all this said and done, because they got
four guys yesterday who all scored. They they steamrolled, they
threw the they threw these to quote Lupica, they threw
the Celtics on a flaty stairs in that third quarter yesterday,
they killed him in that third quarter.

Speaker 9 (25:09):
And that's supporter the Celtics usual he went so good
for them and bunting as tremendous as you said, very
He's not underrated anymore. He was underrated coming to the Knicks.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
I got roughed up by a couple of former NBA
players on social media. I talked about Jason Tatum being
a great player but not a star. You know that
they're certain there's only a couple of players. And I
liken this too. You know, Tom Cruise is not necessarily
a great actor as much as he is a star. Yeah,
I agree, Bradley Cooper is a star, uh you know,

(25:43):
and a great actor. And then I likened it to uh,
Trey Young, he's got star power. Luca has star power,
Steph Curry has star power. There's only a couple of players,
like SGA has no star power. He's an unbelieva player,
is going to be the MVP, but he doesn't. People
aren't going, hey, when's SGA playing? If Steph Curry's playing.

(26:06):
Younger kids love Trey Young. Luca's got star power. But
I caught some flat Greg Anthony's going to join us?
He was like, how can you say that he's not
a star. He's First Team All NBA five times, which
is true. He is a great player, but having star
power you go out to see the Celtics, yeah, you're
not necessarily going to see him. And I didn't it

(26:29):
came off as a slight. I didn't mean it that way.
I'm just letting people know there's only a couple of
players that you go, I'm coming out to see you,
and he wasn't on that short list. I don't even
know if Joker's on that list, Chris, because.

Speaker 11 (26:44):
I don't think Kawhi Leonard is either. You know, he's
a great player. You think people are flock going to
get buy tickets. First of he never plays, but I
think people will flocking tick Giannis is a star. I mean,
the way he plays, he would be on that list
that you mentioned. I know where you're coming from, though,
I can see your point. He's a great, great player.
The ball sticks to him sometimes, you know, the ball

(27:05):
has a tendency to stick to him a little too
much to me, But you know, I generally understand where
you're coming from.

Speaker 9 (27:12):
I think you are probably a one hundred percent right.

Speaker 11 (27:15):
I don't like Jay Young to me, he keeps both
teams in the game I mean, I think his shot selection.

Speaker 9 (27:21):
I'm not a big fan.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
He's not a better player than Jason Tatum. I'm saying
he's got star peck. Young kids love Tray Young. I
agree they do tune in.

Speaker 11 (27:31):
But I think they overrate Tray Young because he does
have star power.

Speaker 9 (27:35):
I don't think he's a great player.

Speaker 11 (27:36):
I think he's got that little panache, which because he
shoots forty footers. He's small, he's flashy. But I know
where you're coming from. I think there is something where
with Tatum. You watch the franchise more than you go
watch the individual player. You know, I don't know if
people in Oklahoma City are buying tickets because Tatum's coming

(27:56):
to town. They're buying tickets because the Celtics are coming
to town. And that's probably what you meant. When Yannis
comes to town, they're buying tickets. You know, when Curry
comes to town, they're buying the tickets. Uh.

Speaker 9 (28:09):
You know, Jo Kicch, I.

Speaker 11 (28:11):
Think he's probably a star, got star power because he's
so unorthodox.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
You know, he said, I don't know if I can
see that at the Why. I can see there's that
guy at the Why where you go Tim he scores, passes, rebound,
does everything, and Luca's the best or Jokich is the
best player in the game. I'm just saying star power
to come out and watch Anthony Edwards has more star

(28:36):
power than a joker does in my opinion, Like there's
a I gotta go see that guy.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
And so the one thing I.

Speaker 11 (28:44):
Would disagree with you on with that is Jokic is
so unorthodox that he's so unique. You know, big lumbering guy,
can handle the ball, shoots threes, great passer.

Speaker 9 (28:54):
There's an element of that.

Speaker 11 (28:56):
Just how is he doing this? And so you go
to the games for that reason. But I do understand
exactly what you're saying about Tatum. If you're getting grief,
you're they shouldn't be given you grief. It's a sports opinion,
and you're a thou. I can understand that's where you're
coming from. And again back to Brunson, I mean it's incredible,

(29:16):
Uh you know he gets to a sponse he's you know,
you would never think a little bit of a guy,
you know, you get there. I never thought he who
thought he was going to be this great coming out
of college. I mean a little bit like he's better,
but a touch a little bit like fred Van Fleet.

Speaker 9 (29:32):
I never thought he was gonna be a good NBA player.
He's not because Brunson, but but you but you get
the idea. And and Sga.

Speaker 11 (29:39):
I think you're right, he's great, but he doesn't have that.
And I'll tell you right now, Oklam is a little overrated.
I mean for a team that won sixty eight games.
I mean they were down twenty nine in game Freedom
Memphis and Memphis you.

Speaker 9 (29:51):
Know, had Moran out. They're lucky that got through the
game the other day.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Again, you know this is going to come back and
bite you. You know that they're gonna win the title.

Speaker 9 (29:59):
Watch when time. And they very well. And I haven't
been impressed with Minnesota.

Speaker 11 (30:04):
I mean I didn't see the second half last night
when they played great before. They've worked awfully hard to
beat Golden State. I mean, and they have no Curry
and they've worked awfully hard. I mean, I don't know.
I mean, I'm not seeing the eighty six Celtics.

Speaker 9 (30:18):
Let's put it that way.

Speaker 11 (30:19):
Well, the eighty two, eighty three, seventy six ers, or
the sixty six, seventy sixty seven six ers, or the
seventy one seventy two Lakers.

Speaker 9 (30:26):
I didn't see the sixty six seventies.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
You did.

Speaker 9 (30:29):
I didn't the sixties sixty seven six ers, but I
did see the seventy one seventy two Lakers that were
great sixty eight and thirteen. I'm not seeing that kind
of team right now so far in the NBA plaoffs.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
Myself, if you're NBC, how do you use Michael Jordan
on your NBA package?

Speaker 11 (30:48):
Well, you know, I don't think Michael's gonna be there
every Saturday or Sunday afternoon breaking down, you know, a
regular season game up against football.

Speaker 9 (30:56):
So I don't think he's gonna be there in that situation.

Speaker 11 (31:00):
To me, you know, I think it's a little pr
oriented because I got to see how.

Speaker 9 (31:05):
Much Jordan's gonna work.

Speaker 11 (31:07):
You know, Jordan's gonna give up some of those golf
things and NBA playoffs. You know, somebody says, you know, Michael,
let's go play in Dubai. He's just says, no, I can't.
I got Sacramento in Dallas a playing game.

Speaker 9 (31:19):
He's not gonna do that.

Speaker 11 (31:20):
So I got to see it to believe it. But
you know, it's a good pr move for NBC. I mean,
he won all those championships to the network. Who's not
gonna want to hear what Jordan has to say. But
I believe those appearances will be short in stature and brief.
I think it's more until it's proven otherwise, I think

(31:41):
it's more pr than anything else.

Speaker 9 (31:42):
I got to see him wal you want to do this?

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Yeah, I'm wondering, and we joked about this. That is
it going to be Michael Jordan goes and lets some
of these players interview him that you know coming up
at halftime, Cooper Flagg interviews Michael Jordan. You know, an
audience with Michael jord where these players get to ask
him questions. But I other than that, unless they do

(32:05):
what Kobe did with his details, when he would break down,
truly break down a game or a player. I could
see that maybe with Mike doing something like that, but
I thought Kobe was wonderful as an analyst, you know,
with his own series there.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
Maybe they didn't might see that.

Speaker 11 (32:25):
I mean, I don't see Jordans breaking down an individual
game and getting on a player for making a mistake.
I don't see Jordan wanting to get into the weeds
of why so and so made an error.

Speaker 9 (32:35):
You know why Hardens stinks and big games, you know
what he does.

Speaker 11 (32:39):
I don't know if I don't know if Jordan's gonna
want to do that to me.

Speaker 9 (32:43):
That's just NBC trying to get a little juice with
their with their NBA deal.

Speaker 11 (32:49):
Let's announce that we've hired Jordan for quote unquote a
special correspondent. They probably haven't even detailed what that might
entail because they you know, they just said, Jordan, what
you sign up and we'll figure it out later on,
you know that kind of thing.

Speaker 9 (33:06):
But I think people will pay attention to it. It's
you know, Jeorde doesn't talk much.

Speaker 11 (33:09):
You very rarely see him after that ape, you know,
that great documentary. So I from that standpoint, we're here
from him and we'll go from there.

Speaker 9 (33:18):
Listen.

Speaker 11 (33:18):
Uh, well, we're gonna have a little drama here, little
drama with denverro Clama City. Let's see how Cleveland responds
Celtics without Tatum. Do they throw in the Cashner chips?
They go play with a lot of verve in Game
five down three to one when it appears they can't
win that series. So I think you're gonna have a
little drama here. Can can Golden State win a game

(33:38):
to get Curry active for Game six? I think you're
gonna have a little drama here in the next four
or five days in the NBA. And going back to
the original thought, something's wrong with the idea that the
Dallas Mavericks feaking.

Speaker 9 (33:49):
Win the lottery after Atlanta one. So yeah, I'm with
you one hundred percent on it.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
Good to talk to you, Chris.

Speaker 9 (33:54):
I love you, Danny, you keep up the good work. Okay.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
Now, Christopher mad Dog Russo, he's got his own channels here,
Channel eighty two weekdays at three Eastern. Also, he'll be
on First Take Wednesdays with Steven A. We'll come back,
We'll play fill in the Blank. A few more phone
calls as well.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
Back after this, be sure to catch the live edition
of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern
six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAPP.

Speaker 3 (34:21):
We have fill in the Blank coming up.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
I have the International Games and starting out with let's see,
the Chargers are going to be in Brazil, but I
don't know if they've named they named the team yet.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
They're announcing the other team tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
Oh, there is a surprise tomorrow next Okay, then you
have Dublin. It's the Steelers against the Vikings. I like
that a lot. London will have the Browns and the Vikings.
London will have the Jets and the Broncos. London will
have the Jags and the Rams. I believe Berlin will

(35:01):
have the Colts and the Falcons, and Madrid will have
the Dolphins and the Commanders. The international package but supposed
to be the big reveal party coming up tomorrow night.
All right, time to play fill in the blank. I'll
say something, I'll read something, and then you fill in

(35:22):
the blank. Todd. The Mavericks getting the number one pick
is no. No, I have to do blank. You said no,
I didn't you stepped on me. I don't want to
do it now.

Speaker 7 (35:37):
Yeah, ruin for everybody, GI me another chance.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
The Mavericks getting the number one pick is blank. Curious Seaton, funny.

Speaker 12 (35:48):
A sire relief for Nico, Paul great content. Cooper flag
is going to be blank, Todd, wonderful one of y'all. Okay,
all right, all right, seatan forgettable?

Speaker 6 (36:07):
Do you mean that? Marvin intertraction?

Speaker 3 (36:13):
Paul A.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Slow Burn conspiray. Conspiracy theorist about the NBA are.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
Blank Todd, warranted, ish, warranted ish.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
You think that there is possibility, I said, Isha.

Speaker 5 (36:29):
Setan, mostly ridiculous, Marvin tiresome.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
Silly, but understandable.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
The Boston Celtics are blank Todd lost.

Speaker 6 (36:40):
In Celtics, especially without Tat.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
Okay, all right, I'm gonna give you, give you a
bloopon that one. Seaton just fine, Marvin unlucky, Paul in
decent shape. The continued game broadcast growth of the NFL.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
Is blank.

Speaker 5 (37:01):
Ooh, Seaton annoying, Marvin overpowering.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Paul peaking.

Speaker 2 (37:11):
So you think, uh, they're they're just taking over every
They're taking over the world. Now, you know they're dominating
the NBA, Christmas Day all that, the college football playoffs,
they're going to dominate that as well. They're kicking everybody
to the curb baseball playoffs, doesn't matter anything that's in
their way. They're just going to steamroll bulldoze there.

Speaker 5 (37:34):
Yeah Seaton, Yeah, just like I know I'm alone in this,
but I just find this like smothering nature of the
NFL to be exhausting. Sometimes.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
I think we're gonna find out how much is too much.
Mark Cuban once said that hogs get slaughtered. These hogs
are eating everything in its way, in their way. Tom
Cruise is a blank actor, Todd I went with charismatic
at Seaton. Uh yeah, fine, fine actor Marvin big time,

(38:06):
Paul intelligent. I'm gonna say a box office actor. His
results are at the box office, not during award shows.

Speaker 3 (38:16):
Yes, Paul.

Speaker 4 (38:16):
Does Tom Cruise have the most star power and acting
skills combo? Almost like Travis Hunter? You know, rarely does
someone have both?

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Yeah? See, are we.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
Overrating his acting ability? I don't think he's a great actor, right,
but I think he's a great entertainer. He's a star.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
This is to your point.

Speaker 5 (38:42):
He's a star, but I don't know that he's a
great actor.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
Like the movies he's in, you know, Mission Impossible, although
the new one didn't get good reviews, but he knows
what he's doing, he knows what his wheelhouse is.

Speaker 5 (38:55):
Those are good movies. Yeah, there are a lot of
fun I really like them.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
I don't go to see Tom act. I go to
see him perform. And of course he runs in every
movie that he's in. There's always gonna be Tom running.

Speaker 4 (39:08):
Yes, Paul, but he's got a lot of award nominations
back in the day, more so born on the fourth
of July.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
Is he comparable to Otani?

Speaker 4 (39:16):
An all time great hitter and a.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
Good picture Otani's a better actor hot tape?

Speaker 11 (39:24):
Wow?

Speaker 3 (39:25):
But Tom makes smart decisions yes, yeah, great business man
and he.

Speaker 5 (39:29):
Tastes risks physically, yeah, which are all covers for not
being able to act. I'm gonna throw myself off this
cliff so I don't have to act like.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
Throwing myself off this cliff. That's why I think.

Speaker 5 (39:43):
I think he is like sort of widely considered to
be a good actor.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
But yeah, this is fun.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
Yeah, I mean Harrison Ford. I didn't tune in to
listen watch him act. I tuned into watching him perform.

Speaker 5 (39:54):
Watch him walk around looking confused that camera.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
That's what his acting ability is. Marvin.

Speaker 6 (40:00):
Is Timothy Shalomy your great actor and box office star
all packaged together.

Speaker 2 (40:07):
I don't know if he's a box office star. I
don't know what the Dylan movie made. Dune, you know,
that's a big box office movie. But I think he's
a very good actor, very good actor, and wants to
be a great actor. He didn't say I want to
be a box office star. He wants to be a
great actor. And you see some of these actors that

(40:30):
they take these roles that are more challenging for them.
It's not, hey, this is easy money. That you want
to be known as a great actor. He might be
too good looking to be known as a great actor.
You know, they might hold that against him. It's like
a comedian who's good looking. They're not quite as funny
as the guy who's not.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
And that's why. And you would think Todd would be really,
really funny. Ready for that? Thank you, Todd.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
Two hours the books on this Tuesday, believe it or not.
We got one more. It's all play nice here. Okay,
you just took a shot at me to play nice.

Speaker 3 (41:11):
That's right. Final hour coming up. Dan Patrick Show.
