Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, well, well we made it to a Friday. It's
a meet Friday. Morale is high because we're celebrating Thanksgiving today.
Every day should be Thanksgiving. We got turkey, we got
mashed potatoes and gravy stuffing and green bean castle.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Role.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Who is it better than we do? No body?

Speaker 4 (00:24):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
I figured we just do a rehearsal run and we're
gonna have Thanksgiving today with one another. So morale is high.
The calendars autograph and non autograph calendars available at Danpatrick
dot com. Plus check out the Tailgate store to see
how you can get an autograph calendar with select Tailgate purchases.
While supplies last, calendars were a lot of fun to do.

(00:47):
I hope you enjoy them, and they should be shipped
by the end of next week so you'll have them
in time for the holidays if you want a stocking
stuff or you just want to keep it for yourself.
Stat of the Day brought to you by Penine America,
the official trading cards of the program. First Hour brought
to you by the folks who've been helping you for
forty years find the right tires for how and what

(01:08):
and where you drive ship fast and free, backed by
free road hazard protection, convenient installation options like mobile tire installation,
Tire act dot Com. The way tire buying should be
recency bias. But guess who is the leading candidate for
MVP in the NFL. Yes, if you said Drake May,
you would be correct. Standalone game and everybody's got an

(01:31):
opinion about the Patriots and the Jets.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
But for the.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Patriots, Drake made it look really easy. Now, yes, are
we going to factor in? They're playing the Jets. But
the Jets had won back to back games, and I
thought that first drive, I'm like, okay, all right, point
spreads twelve and a half, and then all of a
sudden it ended up thirteen point point spread there margin. Man.

(01:58):
I'm always watching those things just because the number of
times when they just nail it, when it's like, okay,
the points met is twelve and a half and they
win by thirteen. Dylan, congratulations, you had the Jets and
the money line, didn't you?

Speaker 5 (02:13):
I did, Dan, And that first drive was, dare I say, inspiring?
And then it was very very quickly uninspiring.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
And I'm watching Justin Fields, and it made me, it
dawned on me last night as I'm watching him of
how easy college can be for certain quarterbacks at certain programs,
like being the quarterback at Ohio State where receivers were
wide open. Justin Fields was a really good quarterback at

(02:42):
Ohio State. Like he was athletic, he could throw the
football at an unbelievable game against Georgia. And now you
realize the difference between college and the pros because he's
not a starting quarterback in the NFL. If your game
plan is basically just spread every buddy out and let
him run, then he could be your quarterback. But watching

(03:03):
last night, it's just not there. Meanwhile, Drake May made
it look very easy if you would have had him
wear number twelve last night. Now, granted, he's more athletic
than Tom Brady, but if he was wearing number twelve
last night and you saw him in the pocket, you'd go, oh,
they're showing old clips of Brady. Now, granted, the throwback uniforms,

(03:24):
I kind of like the look of them. I was
okay with it. Like at first I thought somebody's in trouble.
Whoever did the laundry is in trouble. Those are faded,
and then I was like, okay, it kind of had
a Civil War Union.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
Blue to it, like Yarmouth blue.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yes, so I was I'm curious how the Patriots would
react as being a big favorite in a game you're
supposed to win. But for Drake May, Patriots handled the
Jets twenty seven fourteen. New England's now nine and two,
and I know some nine and twos aren't the same
as other nine and twos, but they could end up

(04:05):
with home field advantage throughout the entire AFC playoffs. Chiefs
aren't going to get home field advantage. You know, still
can factor in. You know, Buffalo can win the division.
But the Patriots schedule is not that difficult second half
of the season, and the West they're beaten up on
each other. You got Denver and Kansas City coming up.

(04:28):
But watching the Patriots, they're in great shape. I don't
think the AFC is great. I think the NFC is
top heavy better. But if you're the Patriots and a
Patriot fan, you're like, Okay, we can make a run
at this. And I think it's probably the first time
you watched a Patriot game all the way through and

(04:49):
you're probably going, I don't know who some of these
guys are except for Stefan Diggs. And he had nine
catches for one hundred yards. So that's the thirty ninth
one hundred yard our game in his career. The only
active player with more is DeVante Adams with forty five
stat of.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
The Day, stat of the day, that past stat of
the day, stat of the day.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Here comes that what stat of the day? Thank you,
Ron Burgundy. Stat of the Day brought to you by
Penini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show.
By the way, Will Farrow is doing a golfing series
or it's a series where he's the main character, and
I don't know the name of it. But he got

(05:35):
injured and then they said they had to stop shooting.
So I reached out to him yesterday and I said,
I turned my back one time and look what happens.
You get hurt. He goes, I don't know how this
became a big story, but thoughts in prayers to Will
Ferrell for whatever his injury is. But he says that
he will start filming again soon.

Speaker 6 (05:53):
Yes, Paul, is he on the IR four weeks?

Speaker 2 (05:55):
I don't I don't know. I don't know if going
to pick this up, if Hollywood has like an injury list,
because you know, sometimes you'll see these actors they get hurt,
like somebody will break a hand or something or a
knee injury, and then they have to shut down for
a while.

Speaker 6 (06:11):
Yeah, Paul, if you remember the Entourage movie, our friend
Kevin Connolly, when they were getting ready for the scene
outside they were throwing the ball around with Russell Wilson
and different players, he broke his leg, like, broke his leg.
They had to medicate him and finished the scenes because
they had tons of extras and so he was all
medicated in a few different scenes.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
They had to medicate me. To watch that movie.

Speaker 6 (06:32):
A lot of cameos, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah, too many. Trayveon Henderson had three touchdowns and he
is the Okay, how many rookie rookies have scored three
touchdowns this year? Three touchdowns in a season? If you
said five, you'd be correct Henderson, Quinn, Shawn Judkins, Cam Skattaboo,

(06:57):
Ashton Genty, and RJ. Harvey. There were zero rookies with
three touchdown games last season. The last time you had
five rookies with three touchdown games in the same season
back in twenty ten. Wow, stand of a pick.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Stana Day.

Speaker 7 (07:18):
Stantaa day, Stanta Day.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
This is the stele of the day.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Patriots have their quarterback. They got a running back, Stefan
Diggs is on a team friendly deal. He's got two
more years. They got more cap room than anybody their set.
They're set now. They had to quote settle for the
third pick, the third quarterback in the draft, and they

(07:50):
end up getting Mike Vrabel, who somehow was made available
by Tennessee. The Jets were interested in Rabel. Patriots swooped
in and got Mike Brabel, and just like that, the
Patriots are back. And if you look at the division,
the Jets are in a rebuild. Buffalo is kind of

(08:12):
not as formidable as they've been before, and the Dolphins,
who knows, feels like they're in kind of no man's
land as well. But the Patriots had won eight in
a row, longest winning streak since twenty nineteen, which happened
to be Tom Brady's last season in New England. All right,
Rob Gronkowski, speaking of the Patriots, will join us a

(08:34):
little bit later on your phone calls always welcome. Eight
seven to seven three DP Show email address Dpadanpatrick dot com,
Twitter handle at DP show. Good morning. If you're watching
on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app. On Monday,
the show will also be available on NBC Sports Network
got a big relaunch with that this show, Mike Florio,

(08:55):
Pro Football Talk Live, and also Dan Levittard Show. Speaking
of Mike Florio, Mike Caught My attention and his latest
column at Pro Football Talk, Mike Florio said the Giants
could be interested in Bill Belichick. Now, he says the

(09:17):
challenge is they want Belichick, but they don't want his girlfriend,
and they don't want Mike Lombardi. That's his I don't
know what Mike Lombardi's official job is is he's the
GM at North Carolina. But according to Florio, at Mike

(09:40):
Lombardi and Jordan Hudson wouldn't be part of the deal. Well,
Jordan Hudson's part of the deal because that's his girlfriend,
maybe fiance. Mike Lombardi, Okay, if you have to kick
him to the curb, but that's this is the one condition,
according to Florio, this is the one condition is if
you bring in Bell, you can't have any of the

(10:02):
ancillary characters here. Okay, all right, sure, yes, Todd.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
Yeah, the way I read it's the floors this way.

Speaker 8 (10:11):
If they're even to consider the idea of Bill Belichick
coming to their next head coach, those things would those
people would have to not be involved.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Yeah. If I'm the Giants, I don't do that. If
I'm the Giants, find somebody that you're comfortable with, who's
comfortable with Jackson Dart as his quarterback and Cam Scataboo
Elik neighbors. I mean, they have some nice building blocks there.
But I not bringing in Bill Belichick, No, not at all.

(10:42):
All right, come up with the pole question. Got a
play of the day, stat of the day, all of
that forthcoming. You got a busy weekend. College and Pro
will do the most must win game of the weekend.
Who had the best week in sports? Seaton will join
us from the road coming up next hour, and let
me see anything else that Well, it is a meat Friday,
it's a Thanksgiving Friday. The calendars available, tailgates available, We're

(11:07):
ready to go. What poll question are you're looking at?
First hour there, Dylan, all.

Speaker 5 (11:13):
Right, we got a couple options. Then this one's from
PAULI the NFL team that's in the best shape for
the next five years, five years Commanders, Lions, Patriots, and
then we can decide on a fourth team. Okay, Paul,
you got a couple more to sprinkling.

Speaker 6 (11:30):
Well, I would say those teams because the Lions are
good and everyone's under contract. I'm gonna Ross Saint Brown,
Pine Sewel Golf's contract is somewhat friendly. Aiden Hutchinson, Hutchinson's
Sir Gibbs. Yeah, okay, Drake May's on a rookie deal,
lots of cap space. As you said, with the Patriots,
a coach under contract that seems like an alpha dog.

(11:52):
And then the Commanders, even though it's an off year,
Jane Daniels, everyone loves him or loved him, rookie deals,
still good coach. It just feels like it's set for
the next few years. I don't know if there's a
fourth team.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Broncos. Yeah, man, we cooled off on Boex, didn't we.
That didn't take long.

Speaker 6 (12:19):
Like I wouldn't put the Rams in there because in
two years, we don't know what the Rams quarterback situational. Yeah,
that's the only reason the Rams are in great shape today.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Yes, I would put Denver in there because I have
to believe in Sean Payton and kind of getting bo
Nix back to where he was last year. That defense,
I think they have forty six sacks so far. It's
been I think twenty years since a team maybe thirty
years since the team had that many sacks this deep

(12:47):
end of the season. So you have a great defense.
Seattle seems like they're in pretty good shape. Maybe we're
not all in because we want to see what Sam
Darnold does in a playoff game, but this is a
big game coming up this weekend. You can make an
argument that the team that wins the Seattle LA game

(13:07):
is the best team in the NFC, and that's saying
a lot, but I would put Seattle in there. Sam
Darnold's on a team friendly deal. Smith Jigba is their
best player. I don't know what his deal is, but
other than that, I don't know if you're spending that
much money. The Colts situation seems pretty good, but you

(13:32):
got to sign up Danny Dimes. So it went from
well that's a great story to man, that's fifty million
dollars there. Yeah, Pauline, what if.

Speaker 6 (13:41):
I threw in the Cincinnati Bengals even though they're not
good today. Joe Burrow in a contract for a long time,
Chase and Higgins under contract for a long time.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
No, no, because they have no defense. I can't trust Burrow.
He's you know, he gets injured too much. I got
two great receivers. But other than that, I got a
coach who may lose his job. So no, I wouldn't
look at that stability.

Speaker 5 (14:06):
Yes, Dylan, I think you've mentioned it before, but the
Bengals are really feeling like that may have been their
one Super Bowl shot with Burrow.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Yeah, And I'm sure people said after they lost to
the Rams eight they'll be back. There's no guarantee. And
can we say that, oh, yeah, they're going to get
back like the Blue Jays. Are you going to say, yeah,
they're going to get back. I looked at the odds.
They're way down the list to get back to the
World Series.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
You know.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
I think when we looked at the odds after the
Super Bowl or after the World Series, it was like
ninth or tenth best odds to get back to the
World Series. All right, your phone calls are welcome. Eight seven,

Sun is out, Tregger grills are fired up. Got turkey today?
This is good. This feels like this is football season.
You want to go out there and pop somebody. I
mean I don't, but I could see where you get
that feeling. We got a fire pit going. This is
this is a good Day. Yeah, Dylan, we.

Speaker 5 (15:56):
Actually got some extra turkey legs too, so we can
do like the Thanksgiving Day game where all the players.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Are okay, you know the turducan.

Speaker 5 (16:04):
We thought about doing a tur ducan and it was
a little involved.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
Oh okay, Well it's hard for you to cook the
turkey but also sit in Seatan's chair because Seatan's on
the road in the Makeo van.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
It is Dan.

Speaker 5 (16:16):
But actually I've got the chef IQ fired up so
I don't even have to leave.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Most little product placement.

Speaker 4 (16:22):
We like that.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Alrighty, we'll get to some phone calls. Nice slate to
college football games. The whole quay. If I would have
told you in August, mid November, late November, the two
favorites for the MVP in the NFL would be Drake
May and Matthew Stafford, what would you have said about that,
because I'm going to guess in the preseason odds they're

(16:45):
probably not in the top ten.

Speaker 6 (16:47):
Yes, Paul, they were definitely not in the top ten.
Matthew Stafford was plus five thousand, Drake May was plus
six thousand. Some of the players ahead of them in
preseason MVP odds Tua, Dak Prescott, Trevor Lawrence, Rock Purty,
C J. Stroud and all the other big names.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Here is Mike Rabel, Patriots head coach on his quarterback.

Speaker 9 (17:11):
You know, we have high expectations for Drake, has high
expectations for himself, will continue to improve and know that
he'll stay humble through this all. And you know again,
and then as far as the performance tonight, I thought
it was, you know again, in first view, pretty good.
He was good enough to win. I mean he took
care the football.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Yeah, I think there were three drops. I mean he
could have easily had close to thirty completions in over
three hundred yards. And I know you got a factor
in there playing the Jets, but still you got a
factor in the Jets had won back to back games.
You want to see composure. I want to see like

(17:51):
how are you from play to play? And that's where
you find that out when you actually watch a game.
When you watch the red zone, it's very deceived, very misleading.
Now it's very convenient. I enjoy watching it, but if
I really want to watch a player or watch a team,
you got to watch the game and I want to
see what you do If there's adversity. I've said before,

(18:13):
the most important situation is you've just thrown an interception.
What do you do the next time you come out,
when you're back on the field after you throw a
pick six? How do you react like those That's real.
That's important because you can be there and everybody's wide open,
and then you have those games when nobody's wide open

(18:33):
and there's pressure on you. I thought the Patriots line
did a wonderful John. It's it's a group and it's
not fair to say no names, but their names you're
not familiar with, especially on defense. But imagine Mike Rabel
has to wake up every morning and just go, man,
I'm so glad I got fired. I'm so glad. I

(18:58):
mean to see in the winter and New England in
the winter. Okay, but look, he's an Ohio State guy. Mean,
he's used to the cold. He played for the Patriots.
But you also wake up and you like you have
your quarterback. It is I don't know if there's a
better feeling for a coach than realizing I have my quarterback,

(19:20):
because you can talk to those other coaches who don't
have their quarterbacks and life is miserable, all right, let's
see Buddha and San Francisco leads us off. Hi Buddha,
what's on your mind?

Speaker 10 (19:33):
No, oh Bunny, happy meat tydy boys, Let's go fritzy.

Speaker 11 (19:40):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (19:40):
Dan, you guys mentioned you announced the latest calendar dropping,
and I thought of a proposal for you guys and
to all of Dan nation the last rendition of the
calendar in twenty twenty seven. It could be like a
collaboration of all like the most greatest moments of the show.
I mean, you have mcglove and breaking his glasses, Jerry

(20:03):
West coming in with your birthday k Chrissy Tigan, decorating
the Christmas tree with Fritzy. You know, the greatest haliling
costume in DF show history, the pump pass and kick.
I mean, there's a slew of many others that we
could do, but it just be a fun memorable way
to like just kind of like do a final final

(20:24):
and then Dan real quick to see Aaron Judge win
The al MVP was so lame, Like now cal Relly
knows how it feels to not win an Emmy. He
got jopped.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
Dan not.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Good, thank you Budham. All right, I said I would
be fine if Aaron Judge won the MVP. He put
up great numbers. His numbers a lot better than Cayl
Rowning except for the home runs. Here's the question I
would ask when Yankee fans get sensitive about this. If

(20:59):
Aaron's Judge was on Seattle and cal Raley was on
the Yankees, who wins MVP. And that's a rhetorical question
because we know that cal Rawley as catcher of the
Yankees and he is a goal glove catcher. He is
going to be your MVP. Right they would talk about,

(21:22):
oh my gosh, he's the next Thurman Munson. I mean,
we know this. This played a role now, Aaron, Aaron
Judge can be a liability in the field. He's not
a good outfielder. He's a great hitter. He's going to
be a Hall of Famer. Cal Rawley plays the most

(21:43):
important position in baseball. He's out there every single day.
Look at that pitching staff. He helped develop a very
good young pitching staff. They made the playoffs. I got
a factory in all of those things. But I think
the hammer is if cal Rawly was the catcher for

(22:04):
the Yankees, hitting sixty home runs, winning the division, developing
a young pitching staff. Being a Gold Glove catcher, he
wins the MVP. Aaron Judge is great, the numbers are phenomenal.
Batting average was you know, probably fifty points higher. I

(22:24):
understand all of those things. The hardest position, most important position.
You got a Gold Glove catcher and sixty home runs. Okay,
you know how many games he missed three. I don't
know if he gets another chance. That's not why I

(22:46):
would say, you know, he deserved the MVP. I would
just say, we forget when you're a catcher. I mean
it's you never get a day off when you catch.
I can put Aaron Judge in the outfield and he
might get four balls hit his way. We've seen him,
you know, in the playoffs, be a lot liability out there.

(23:06):
But it's not really about he's not a great fielder.
It's that cal Rawley is a really good catcher and
he had sixty home runs. And I don't want this
to be that I'm anti Judge as much as I
just think you got a factor in where cal Rawley
was doing this in Seattle, and the importance of doing
it in a big market. Now, Otani could play anywhere

(23:29):
and still win the MVP. But I mean he did
it with the Angels, but I think cal Rawley to me,
location is what prevented him from winning the MVP.

Speaker 11 (23:43):
Yes, Martin, is there another team that you would have thought,
all right, if you played for the Red Sox would
have been a closer race, Like you can see them
giving it to cal Raley if you played in Boston
instead of Seattle.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Yeah, yes, because their games are seen by more people.
I mean, Sam Donald is, you know, doing unbelievable things
in Seattle. Nobody's really focused on that. Now. You might say, well,
Sam Darnold shown us that you know, he can be good,
not great, Okay, but he's still having an incredible year there.

(24:17):
I just think location, location, location, And this is about
New York real estate doing it in a Yankee uniform.
They would have a monument built for him already, they'd
have a plaque out there. It's not kid anybody. Yeah, Dylan,
I feel like defensively that things have kind of gone

(24:40):
by the wayside in the MLB too, Like it's for
the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (24:44):
Defense wasn't really ever looked at too, And I feel
like now for rewards and stuff, it's not even like
you don't get docked if it's bad and it doesn't
really help you out that much of it's good.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Yeah, but that's where I want people to realize. This
used to be a thing. My catcher is great catchers
out there every game. My catcher is developing a pitching
staff and and hitting sixty home runs home runs.

Speaker 6 (25:08):
Yes, Pauli, but Dan, you remember a time in the
seventies and eighties when if you had a very good
catcher and they could hit over two fifty and give
you twenty home runs, that was like a luxury item
because you had both. Then you have those anomalies like
Johnny Bench or cal Rally where like he's both great
at catching and great at hitting, and that's come around
three or four times in the past forty years.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
Yeah, you know, Carlton Fisk was a great catcher, great hitter.
Nobody is on par with Johnny Bench. You know, Johnny
Bench was I think the best defensive catcher and he
also was a great offensive hitter. But you know, it
feels like it's that's a long time ago where we're

(25:49):
not really factoring in defense, and I think you have
to in certain positions, certainly on catcher, you do you
have to factor that in if it's a plus. I
have to factor that in if it's different, and he's
a goal glove catcher. So I just think if he
was catcher for the Yankees, this wouldn't have been close

(26:11):
the other way that he would have won the MVP.
And then show, hey, Otani, now he's going to continue
to be the odds on favorite. As long as he's
hitting and pitching, and hitting at a high level and
pitching at a very good level, he's going to be
your MVP because nobody can top that. And plus, when
he is hitting, he's the only guy on the screen.

(26:35):
When he's pitching, he's the only guy on the screen.
So when you're watching, you get to watch him do
all of this. When Travis Hunter was playing at Colorado,
I had to wait for a replay if he did
something on defense, or wait for a replay if he
did something on offense. Otani is right there. You tune
into a game, he's on the mounta. You tune into

(26:57):
a game. Now he's at the plate, So I get
to see him him do both of these jobs. At
of Air, I don't have to wait and I have
to go well, you know, let me see the replay.
Oh was that?

Speaker 9 (27:09):
You know?

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Did he make the catch?

Speaker 4 (27:10):
You know?

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Then we show you Otani's right there. Yeah, Paulie and Otani.

Speaker 6 (27:15):
He casually had fifty five homers this year with a
season where he had an elbow procedure months before the
season and his entire availability was in question. And if
you look at next year, he's going to hit forty
plus home runs in his sleep and his pitching will
be a lot more ramped up. He'll probably start twenty games.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
I thought Schwarber would get a voter too, because he's
so unique and so dangerous, and you know, when you
think of a leadoff guy, he's the last guy you think,
that's my leadoff guy. But what a valuable, valuable player
he was for Philadelphia. So he finished his runner up,

(27:54):
No shame in that, but Otani unanimous. Yes, Todd.

Speaker 8 (27:58):
Do you think pictures figue hitters better than hitters figure
out pictures? Like I'm wondering over the next few years
with show Hey, however dominant he is, and they become well,
hitters come around to figuring out his style of pitching,
and he won't be quite as effective in the next
few years.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Well, he's only going through the lineup maybe twice. You see.
The third time is when managers and pitchers get nervous
of teams kind of settling in figuring you out. I'm
curious if Otani adds another pitch eventually, but hitters, hitters
are going to figure you out, and they're always looking

(28:34):
for a tell, you know. Then they talk to each other,
they go back and look at video, you know, so
they're constantly they're they're studying you in the moment, and
it feels like hitters eventually figure out the pitchers.

Speaker 11 (28:47):
Yes, Marvin show Hayes played eight seasons in MLB. He's
got four MVPs. Like how many guys were sure fire
no doubt Hall of famers if they had stopped after
year eight. I have to look at like, what do
you year eight? I'm done?

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Albert Poohols probably yeah, Pullie.

Speaker 6 (29:07):
The other thing with Otani because the Dodgers batting him
lead off, they can't really intentionally walk him that often.
Barry Bonds in his prime bat at third and he
I think he had Jeff Kent behind him a lot.
But Barry Bonds was once intentionally walked like one hundred
and twenty times in a season. It's freakish by the way.
Otani was walked intentional walked only twenty times last year,

(29:29):
which seems low for him, but it still led the majors.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Tracy in Oregon, Hi, Trace, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 4 (29:36):
Hey, good morning, guys.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
I want to stay really great for your show round
for years. You know, the gatekeeper, the stallions out there
doing all the work. And about the MVP voting, you
sort of sound like it's okay that New York gets

(29:59):
the vote, and I'm surprised that somebody doesn't start to
question how statistically it's inaccurate, especially how you described about
the defensive aspect of the game not being part of it.
If someone wanted on your group, wanted to look in
the past, nineteen forty one, forty two you got Demagio

(30:20):
beats Williams out for the MVP. But if you look
at forty two, you look at the statistics, well, it
was impossible. It couldn't have been that Joe Gordon would
win it. So I guess I'm bothered by how these
kinds of things in the sports media seemed to be
powered by money and the location rather than what are

(30:41):
the statistics?

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Yeah, thank you, Tracy. I didn't say I was fine
with it. I just pointed out, I think this is real,
that's all. I do think location had a lot to
do with this, that's all. But Aaron Judge can win
the MVP, and he certainly deserved that the numbers he
put up up. I just think you've got a factor
in a few other things there, and you got to

(31:05):
be fair to cal Ralely that position that he plays,
what the team did this year, that he hits sixty
home runs, he's the only player they hit sixty, His
team made the playoffs and he didn't win MVP. Yes, dying.

Speaker 5 (31:20):
If cal Rawley's the Dodgers catcher and it's him and
Otani up for MVP, does he have any shot at that?

Speaker 2 (31:29):
Well, yeah, he has a shot at it. He's hitting
sixty home runs, but he's no. Otani's still Otani hit
what a couple of home runs less than him and
he pitched. Yeah, so yeah, O'tonni's still going to win that.
Otani goes into every season with a huge advantage because

(31:49):
it's like Usain Bolt at the sixty yard mark, sixty
meter mark, you're kind of in the picture with him,
and then you're not because once he starts and then
he gets to pitch. I mean he ramped up his
pitching this year, like they were doing like one inning,
two innings. I'm anxious to see how much he gets

(32:11):
to pitch next year and his hitting. He hits forty
home runs, people would be like, what happened? Yeah? I
remember when Mark maguire when he hit seven or when
he had seventy home runs, and I said, what happens
if he hit fifty next year? He goes, yeah, no, bummer, Yeah,
like had a down year he hit fifty, but Kyle

(32:34):
Rowly had a wonderful year. It was a great story,
and I think I was rooting for the story more
than anything. But Aaron Judge one of the great hitters
that we've seen modern times, and he's going to be
a Hall of Famer. So there's no shame if you're
Cal Rawley that you lost to Aaron Judge. I'm just

(32:54):
telling you what I think is factual, and that is
location has a lot to do with this. Make a
break play the day next. Fox Sports Radio has the

Patriots take the lead.

poll question Dylan.

Speaker 5 (34:25):
Yes, Dan, So, which NFL team is in the best
shape for the next five years? Commander's Lions, Patriots, and
I threw the Broncos in there, all right. The Patriots
are running away with it at sixty three percent.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
Yeah, you got all that cap space, and you got
your quarterback only in his second year. And this is
where we go. Well, if you redrafted, and who are
you taking number one? And it feels like it changes
week to week here. But now like Jayden Daniels is
a distant memory, Bo Nicks a distant memory. Even JJ

(34:59):
McCarry the distant memory. When you look at these, you know,
quarterbacks who were coming into the league in the last
couple of years. Now all of a sudden, it's Drake May.
And I always go back to Tim Hasselbeck, former quarterback
works for the Mothership, and I remember having him on
prior to the draft. He loved Drake May and he
watched He was an analyst for a lot of the

(35:21):
ACC game, so he got to see him play and
he had no doubts about Drake May. Fritzy, see if
Tim Hasselbeck will come on soon and take a victory
lap pet do that? All right? That'll be good Mike
and Vermont. Good morning, Mike, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 4 (35:41):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (35:41):
Mike by Mike Luciano in Brooklyn is back.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
Hey, morning tuple. What's going on? Baby? Marvin? Peace? K?
What up? Son? Dylan? How you doing? Whatever you got
going on? Probably? What's up? Baby? All right? Couple listen,
I know you ever heard from me a while? So
it's kind of funny, certain dipputus that judge went to
the MVP and everybody's complaining about New York because you
haven't heard from me, because I actually was court ordered
by a judge in New York not to call it

(36:10):
Damn patrickors so until I finished my house arrests, so
Lost Story show?

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Wait wait wait can the judge tell you not to
make a phone call to it?

Speaker 4 (36:21):
Yeah? So basically what happened. You remember last time we talked,
I was telling you I had to go do a
little dick on records Islands. Right, So the impetus of
that was actually an argument in the barbershop that started
over a conversation with two So your name has been
mentioned in New York City court and Judge Reynolds a
couple of times in my jacket, right the Damn Patrick Show?

Speaker 2 (36:39):
So am I in trouble?

Speaker 4 (36:41):
No, you're not a trouble. Actually, you got me out
of trouble. This is who I'm calling you. I just
got on a couple of days ago off of house arrests.
So basically what happened was I had to make a private,
a personal run, and I guess they frowned upon you
leaving your income molitary at home while you do that, right,
So I violated that. So I was in the court room.
He asked me, if you can tell me a good
reason why you took off the ankle monitor, I'll reinstate it.

(37:02):
So I said, well, my soul from and the ankle monitor,
they don't get along toom static and I had to
call the damn Patrick show, so I took off the
ankle monitor. He literally reinstated me, but told me that
I couldn't call your show until I finished my probation.
So mar for probation, you'll hear from me again. And
one thing about the Judge thing, Doing what Judge does
on the New York stage is way different couple than

(37:25):
doing it on Seattle stage. I'm not saying anything disparaging
about the character that catcher in Seattle, but it's a
lot more pressure to do in New York that's a
big fact that a lot of people forget above.

Speaker 2 (37:36):
Did you see P Diddy when you were in.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
No Pete Diddy? Is that where I man? I'm in?
You know, I'm I have a jacket. You know what
the jacket is, Marvin telling the audience what the jacket.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
Is in New York City? Is that your rap sheet?

Speaker 4 (37:48):
Yeah? There you go to the rap sheet. I have
a jacket that the judge told me that. You know,
it keeps me super warm in Buffalo in the dead winter.
You know. So P Diddy, you know, he's what they
call in personal security protection. You know, he's a high
risk person. So he wouldn't be where I was it.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Okay, but you know, stay on the straight and narrow, okay, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (38:09):
No, no problems. Stop giving me a hard debates.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
So something escalated with a argument and then he ends
up going to jail.

Speaker 6 (38:20):
Yeah, point imagine your bunk, make comes over. What are
you in for it?

Speaker 5 (38:23):
Hot takes?

Speaker 6 (38:24):
And I'll do him again. I'll call out Caleb Williams.
What put it nicely?

Speaker 2 (38:31):
Throw away the keys? Uh? Luciano, he always has a
question and he works, you know, he has a barber shop,
and so you know, things get heated in the barbershop,
like not my barber shop, but no, no, definitely not yours. Yeah,
the barber shop, the.

Speaker 11 (38:50):
Barbier, Yes, very much, lebron or Jordan, don't start. No,
I'm walking out. I'm walking out. No, thank you.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Yes, I didn't.

Speaker 5 (38:56):
Has an ankle mind can affect cell phone service signals.
That's interesting to know.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
I don't think it does.

Speaker 4 (39:02):
Don't just came up with something.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
Yeah, they bought it. Yeah, yes, Paul.

Speaker 6 (39:06):
I was just thinking, had anyone out here of us
or anybody gotten in a sports argument gotten so serious
it almost got physical? I know you did. I once
when I was like fifteen, said something not nice in
Cincinnati about Pete Rose during a sports argument, and I
almost got punched in the face. And I remember you
had the thing You've had a couple where it gets intense.

Speaker 4 (39:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
I had won with Craig Sager years ago when I
said underclassman should win the Heisman and he he. So
we're both holding beers and we're talking and we're outside
the uh what was that hotel in Miami?

Speaker 6 (39:39):
Cleveland?

Speaker 2 (39:40):
The Cleveland and Paul he's there. It was almost got on.
I mean it really was. And I'm thinking, I'm arguing
for Adrian Peterson to win the Heisman, and I think
he was a sophomore at the time, and Seger said, no,
it should go to a senior's upper classman. All of
a sudden, you know, going back and forth. And I've

(40:00):
known Seger, you know, prior to that for about twenty years.
I've known Seg you know, I knew him a long
long time and I and then all of a sudden,
I don't know what happened, where cooler heads prevailed. Maybe
we realized how stupid this sounded. That we could argue,
but I don't think we need to fight, Like, what
are you in for Adrian Peterson? Yes, Paul.

Speaker 6 (40:22):
When Craig took off his Cranberry blazer, I knew it
was almost go time. I was like, Dan's gonna ge
hit by a guy in a Cranberry blazer.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
Yeah, good times, good times. Yeah. SEG's was a good guy,
good guy, all right. One hour in the books. Rob
Gronkowski will join us coming up next hour. He was
at the game last nighte he signed his one day deal.
I think Robert Kraft joke and said, how about two days?
So well, Gronk going back as a page.

Speaker 4 (40:54):
I know.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Well Robert Kraft's version of humor. Yeah, you know, the
billionaire humor. How about two.

Speaker 12 (41:05):
Days, mister Craft, mister Craft, Uh, one hour in the books,
two more to go.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
It's a meet Friday. Fritzie's here, Dylan's in for Seaton.
We'll hear from Seating on the road, Marvin Paulie, yours
truly in the back room. Guys, we're back after this

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
