Congressman Jim Jordan joined The Armstrong & Getty Show from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee Wisconsin to talk to Jack & Joe about the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, Trump's new running mate and Biden's incredible decline.

Regarding the shooting, Jordan told A&G that despite the tragedy and sadness of the shooting, "President Trump's leadership under fire, with the blood on his face and the fist pumps--that's a metaphor for the country, that's an American attitude. A powerful, powerful moment."

Speaker 1 (00:13):
I was from last night Lee Greenwood. Actually they're singing
it live.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
That's when Trump walked out, and just what an amazing
moment that was in that arena.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
And we've got a lot more to cover on that, and.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Why don't we cover it with Jim Jordan, the longtime
representative from the fourth District of the Great State of Ohio,
also the chair of House Judiciary Committee, which will be
significant to the conversation.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Jim, thanks for stopping by.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
We appreciate it with you guys, Thanks for having me.
I like that music coming that started your bumper music.
And then of course I loved when President Trump walked in.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
All last night. I was actually doing.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
A live hit oh No, and I turned and it unplugged,
so I was, you know, but it was right near
the end the show was actually on Hannity, and it
was just amazing. I just returned because I wanted to
see the President walk in and stood and clapped like
everyone else.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Is amazing moment.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Absolutely where were you when you found out Trump got shot?

Speaker 4 (01:05):
We just finished an event with some colleagues. I was
doing an event for some folks in Minneapolis area. A
couple of my house colleagues and we got the we
got in the car and we were driving. We gotta
go eat like six o'clock at night, and and uh,
one of our staffer is just like, like everyone showed
me the phone, showed me the video, and you're like, oh,
my goodness.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
But amazing moment for the country. Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Sad, sad moment, obviously, but President Trump's leadership under fire.
Literally when he stood up and and and and the
with the blood on his face and the three fists
pumps and it's it was just it showed the strength
of his character. And I think it was a metaphor
for this country. That's that's an American attitude. That is
like an in that we saw it in a in

(01:46):
our president.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
It is a powerful, powerful moment. It was literally, don't
tread on me. Yeah, not far, but defiance.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
But he looked actually emotionally affected by the crowd last
night when they were chanting fight, fight, Fight, that seemed
to really.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Yeah, you got through an ordeal like that. He's got
it's it's and I feel fortunate. I'm sure you guys
have it as well. But I've gotten to know him
over the last eight years. He's an amazing person. I
tell every group I speak to. I wish every single
America could spend time with him, because if you do,
you cannot help. But like him, there's a charisma. There's
just something about this guy. He loves the country. You know,

(02:20):
it's every every rally he does there, you know, tens
of thousands of people show up with these rallies, and
they're there because they know he truly cares about what
they care about, and he truly cares about them, and
there's that bond in that connection. It's it's fact I
never see anything like it in politics. It's it's a
similar to a great coach in his athletes. Then they
know the good coaches are the ones where the athletes
know that coach has my best interest at heart. And

(02:42):
the American people, I think, see that, and they saw
it even more with his His reaction to that the
terrible events is that, well, thank.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
God, we don't have to reckon with the reality if
he had been killed. But to think about that for
a moment or two reminds us of how abhorrent political
violence is in all of its forms, and it has
to be condemned on all sides, including as we've been saying, Hey,
if our side goes a little overboard. I think we
need to be manful enough to say, you know what,

(03:08):
we got a little heated too, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
The speaker, the Speaker.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Speaker Johnson said that on I think Sunday morning. It
was like, let's you know, everyone, let's come down a
little bit. And and that's fine. I do like President
Trump's intensity with his campaign and his in his fight.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
So there's you know, in politics is a grown up sport.
It's you need to be aggressive sometimes.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
But I think there's also the way we can temper
how we say and what we say. And I think
Speaker Johnson was was making that point on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
So how the hell does a guy get on the
roof with a gun with a clear shot at the president?

Speaker 1 (03:41):
We had fun question.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
We had former Secretary Grunella on yesterday, D and I
and uh. He said, we should have this answer already.
We don't need a committee. You've been on a lot
of committees trying to get to the bottom of a
lot of things. What the hell, I mean, why haven't
we had this question answered already? Where did the worst
who's the where's the fault lie?

Speaker 4 (03:58):
So think about there's a there's a limited, finite number
of buildings where a bad guy could do what happened
on Saturday?

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Right? Is it five? Is it ten? Is it three?

Speaker 4 (04:07):
I mean it's a limited number RELI and one of
those buildings where bad guys could do bad things, we
had the good guys on, we had the counter snipers.
So there's a pretty small number. The fundamental question is
why weren't they secure?

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Right? And that's what all the expert tells.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
Those billdings should have been secured within a certain you know,
so many yards out. Obviously this is way too close.
So why don't we know that? But why wasn't that done?
And then there's key people I want to talk to.
I want to talk to the local police officer who
supposedly encountered the bad guy. I want to talk to
the counter sniper or the good guy sniper who took
out the bad guy.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
When did he know? How?

Speaker 4 (04:40):
You know, what was the time frame? Those are key
conversations that we need to have. And I think Americans
are a little concerned, frankly that the FBI, who can't
tell us who planted the pipe bombs on January six,
can't tell us who leaked the dobbs opinion, can't tell
us who put cocaine at the White House.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
They're running this investigation, and.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
I actually kind of expressed some of that to the
FBI actually when they gave mister mister Natter and I briefing.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Well, And it's astounding to me that when local law
enforcement and bystanders became aware of the shooter that there's
not a universal signal for get the get the potus
off the stage. But I suppose the investigation will proceed.
Speaking of that sort of thing, as your work on
the House Judiciary Committee's been terrific.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Thanks been rooting for.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
You, like crazy speaking he crazy though I watched, for instance,
Aally Hendro Mayorkas say the border is secure to you guys,
and does it does it make you insane?

Speaker 1 (05:28):
How difficult is it to get to the bottom of anything.
It's tough. I'm sure you'll write a book to answer
that question.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
You keep you keep digging, and eventually over time you
you you get, you get you know, you get the
answers like it's It's taken us a year and a
half to figure out all all the As an example,
the fifty one former Intel officials and what all went
on there and that some of these guys were actually
on contract with the with the CIA at the same
time that they're they're they're signing on to this statement,
this statement that was not accurate in all the facts

(05:56):
we've learned about that. It took us a lot of that.
We did a number We did pot Clapper and Brendan
and Morell and all these guys. So you just keep
digging our duty under the Constitution as the legislative branches
to do oversight.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
We're gonna do it aggressively.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
We're going to do it as as thorough as we can,
but it always takes time, and it seems to always
take more time than it should.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Yeah, if you get a chance to talk to the
FBI director again, tell him if they want conspiracy theories
to grow, drag this out.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Yeah, Well he's coming in front of our committee next Wednesday,
the twenty four, whatever, the twenty four, maybe the Wednesday
or Thursday, but next week he's in front of our committee.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
So I've always wondered about this. You're one of the
great wrestlers of all time. You only lost a couple
of times. The one or two guys that ever beat you,
did you raise their taxes to do that.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Now, I lost. I lost.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
I lost a few more times in college, but in
high school was just the one time.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
But it's uh.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
I wanted to play a middle linebacker for you know,
me and your kid growing up in the seventies.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Even though I'm from Ohio. I love the Steelers. I
wanted to be the.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Right Jack Lambert. I love Jack Lambert. But you know,
when you're my size, you got to wrestle. So it's
been just been good for our family.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
So, speaking of prominent Ohian's, JD.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Vance is the amazing guy and and and and and
the American story right, oh my, literally the American story.
And uh, you know, and I've been saying to day
too because the people have been asking. I said, you
know the old adage, it never hurts to have smart
people in charge. JD's one sharp guy, he really is.
And of course President Trump is as well, and so

(07:22):
I think that's important.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
And just the story he can tell, the energy he
can bring in from a political context. You know, this
this race is record of the experts, is all about
the Midwest, Pennsylvania Mission, Wisconsin. And here's a guy from.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Ohio, midwestern boy who has the lived the American story,
the American dream. It's it's it's powerful.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Oh, he's going to be great on the campaign trail.
And I just became aware of how great his wife
is as an asset.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Too, and so but the two of them. Wow, we
know your time surely limited.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
But how a mazed are you that Joe Biden is
hanging on and hanging in the campaign.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
You know, I've said all along I thought he'd be
the guy.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Now, of course, after the debate, I think we all wondered,
you know, is he really the Democrats really.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Going to keep him?

Speaker 4 (08:01):
And we've seen that that that that question kind of
gain gain more, you know, and more importance.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
We'll see. It looks like he's going to be the individual.
Well did you see the Lester Holt interview he did yesterday.
It was wildly cup part of it. Yeah, my heart
would be hurting. It was rough. The I think we're
gonna win. I mean, I think we're gonna win.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
President Trump is I mean, he's he's working hard, he's
I mean after Saturday, I mean just in the policies,
sometimes we forget literally, in three years and seven months,
we've went from a secure border to noboarder safe streets
to record crime, two dollars gas to four dollar gas,
and we went from stable prices to record inflation. So
I think that's gonna take your family at the dinner,
take off my kids, brutal, you take your kid. It's like,

(08:43):
holy how would it cost you just to go out
on a Friday night with your family.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
It's crazy.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
And I think all those things, coupled with what's happened
in the last you know, several weeks here, I think
it's it's why President Trump's gonna be our next president.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
For your time today, we really appreciate it. I know
you got to get going. Thank you Gay.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Once fighter, always a fighter. We appreciate your efforts.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Thanks for you. By the way, you got great guys.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Mcclint talk and Kylie are on our committee. Great guys,
great guys. We're talking about Amen to that, all right,
Thanks Jim. Great pleasure,
