Brian Gubernick sits down with Sahil Bloom, author of The Five Types of Wealth, to explore what it truly means to build a wealthy life. Sahil shares his journey from private equity to entrepreneurship and how a personal transformation in 2021 led him to prioritize relationships over financial success alone.
They dive deep into the importance of balancing time, social, mental, physical, and financial wealth—shifting from a mindset of "balance" to one of "harmony." Sahil introduces the concept of the "dimmer switch mentality," emphasizing small, consistent actions over an all-or-nothing approach. He also challenges listeners to question their defaults and rethink the role of money in achieving a fulfilling life.
Sahil Bloom is an investor, entrepreneur, writer, and content creator known for his insights on personal growth, finance, and decision-making. He graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Sociology in 2013 and a Master's in Public Policy in 2014. During his time at Stanford, Sahil was a Division I baseball player from 2009 to 2013, contributing to two NCAA Super Regional appearances and earning two PAC-12 All-Academic Team awards. He also received the Bruce R. Cameron Memorial Award twice, recognizing excellence in athletics, academics, and leadership.
Professionally, Sahil spent seven years in high finance as a Vice President at a private equity fund managing $3.5 billion in assets. He served on the boards of several portfolio companies, including Fox Racing, Intermix, and Brixton. In January 2022, he founded SRB Ventures, an early-stage investment fund, and owns SRB Holdings, a personal holding company of ten cash-flowing business assets.
