Speaker 1 (00:00):
Nate Morris is a candidate for the United States Senate
here in Kentucky, the seat that will be open when
Mitch McConnell retires. Nate's been on the show a few
times over the last so many months, so have the
other folks that are running on the Republican sign. Nate,
welcome back. Good to have you on.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Thank you, Terry. It's great to be with you. All right.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
I want to get your thoughts initially on the government
shut down like today Christy Nolam handed out checks of
ten thousand dollars to TSA agents that showed up for work.
Good idea, bad idea.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Absolutely, And you know, I think this little shutdown, it's
just been so shameful to watch all the damage that
had been done to our country because of the Democrats,
because of Schumer. This was a personal political motive, I
believe on Schumer's part to protect himself into primary and
also continue to cause problems and protect the left lank

(00:54):
of the Democratic Party. And I think it's so so
shameful that we had to go through this. But I'm
so glad that the country's running again, We're back on track,
and I think these kind of things are very very positive.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
I'm gonna take away from this that you are not
a fan of the filibuster.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
That's right, Terry. I don't know if you saw it.
I wrote a op ed about this, and I think
the filibuster has got to go. We've got to let
President Trump work his magic and get his agenda passed.
And again, there's no constitutional precedent for this. I mean,
this is Senet decorum. And I don't look at the
US Senate as a museum and something that has to

(01:31):
be preserved like a museum. It needs to work for
the American people. It needs to get results for the
American people. It needs to help save this country. And Terry,
let's face it, we know that the moment that Democrats
get back in power, they're going to do the exact
same thing, and they're going to legalize all these millions
of the legals that have come into our country. They
are going to make Puerto Rico in the District of

(01:52):
Columbia Washington, d C. They're gonna make it a state.
Our country will be unrecognizable. But right now we have
a window with time, get rid of the filibuster. Let
President Trump get his agenda through national voting ID program,
kick every illegal off of welfare in all the programs

(02:13):
that they're getting. There's a lot of things that we
can do to protect the country in the long term.
But we got to act right now, and we got
to move and we got to give the president the
latitude he needs to get this stuff done and what
he want to mandate on across the country. So I
think we got to be for it. And actually, Terry,
I'm so shocked. You know, my opponents, they've said nothing
on this, they haven't supported the president on this. We've

(02:35):
got both of our senators. Unfortunately they're not standing with
the president. We need to stand with President Trump. We
know how much he won by in Kentucky, a thirty
point victory, and this is what Kentuckian's voted for.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
We're speaking with Nate Morris. He's a candidate for the Senate,
a Republican candidate for the Senate. A lot of people
think that the Democrats are going to seize on to
this health insurance issue. Do you think that's an effective
marketing tool to hang on to?

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Well, I think this issue is really simple. I mean,
Obamacare has been a disaster. Unfortunately, we did not get
it repealed because of John McCain. We all remember the
thumbs down vote ye, And we had a chance to
get rid of it once and for all. And it's
been a disaster. Everybody's coverage hasn't been the same, Costs
have gone through the roof, people are confused about the program.

(03:25):
There's no competition in many places around the country, and
it's been an absolute disaster and we need to get
rid of it. And unfortunately we had our chance to
do that. And I think this goes to things like
the filibuster that we have to act with the opportunity
that we have. We have it right within our grass
and we've got to move and we can't let these

(03:46):
personal issues or vendettas or all these other things get
in our way of getting the business done for the
American people and what they voted for.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
So let's go to this. I saw that you tweeted
a message about that you were speaking to a group
and talking about the crime here in Louisville. The tweet says,
I'm ashamed of the left wing mayor in Louisville for
allowing a beautiful community to be overrun by crime? Is that?
And you said, I hope President Trump sends in the
National Guard to clean things up. Would that be the
proper solution here in Louisville. Doesn't seem like things are

(04:14):
so out of control we need the National Guard.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
I think we do, Terry. I think, you know, Louisville
has been bombarded by crime for the last several years.
We haven't been able to get our arms around it.
We haven't been able to keep Louisville safe. You go
downtown Louisville, it's a ghost town in many parts. A
lot of people don't feel safe. I mean, I mean, Terry,
I had my mother actually was carjacked, you know, in

(04:37):
a Kroger parking lot, just a few years ago. And
there's more and more of these stories that you talk
to people, and crime is everywhere, and I think we
need to send a message. We need to get the
crime cleaned up once and for all. You know. I
get all kinds of feedback from people that I talked
to in Washington, d C. And they say, you know, Washington,
d C. Is so great. I don't worry about crime anymore.

(04:59):
I don't don't worry about getting mugged, I don't worry
about getting carjacked. And it's because of the National Guard
being there and changing the culture, getting our arms around it,
and once and for all, telling the gangs the drugs
to get out of here. We're not going to tolerate it.
And there's a lot of people, you know, we've seen
some of these murder rates over the years in the
Louisville it's been it's been absolutely terrible, absolutely terrible. And

(05:24):
I think the President's right on this issue to bring
in the National Guard in certain places, and I would
encourage him to do the same thing here in the Louisville.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Yeah, I just can't imagine comparing Louisville's situation with Washington,
d C. But I mean, obviously that's everybody's opinion on
those various things. I can't imagine having the National Guard
walking up down the streets. The various law enforcement leaders
in town, of course tell me they're all working together
and working to lessen crime, and then then they keep
coming out with with crime stats that says they are

(05:55):
greatly reduced. Do you not believe in those stats?

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Well, I mean, obviously those that are going to fluctuate,
But we have been letting this crime run wild for
several years and Louisville's paid a price for it. They've
paid a price for it economically, they've paid a price
for it socially. And I think, you know, if you
talk to folks, I mean, I've got several colleagues that
Nate I moved from Louisville. I went to Cincinnati because

(06:20):
the crime was so bad. I mean, this was a
few years ago, but there's more and more of these cases,
and I say, if the President's willing to do it,
let's take it. Let's take the opportunity, make sure it's
all cleaned up, and we're going to be a stronger
community because of that. Louisville's going to be stronger. Kentucky
as a hole is going to be stronger. Louisville's our
economic engine, and we've got to do everything we can

(06:43):
to protect our citizens and also protect our economy. It's
a big part of our economy. As you know.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
I know you're friends with Donald Trump Junior and also JD. Vance.
What sort of feedback are they giving on this whole
Democrat push to keep saying Trump, send the Epstein files.
We've got to have these Epstein files out. And then
we saw things that came out and there's a redaction,
and people say it's the woman who passed away. Didn't

(07:09):
that woman Virginia Jeffrey already say that Trump didn't have
anything to do with these scurlest charges against Epstein.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
She did. And I think this whole thing is just ridiculous.
This is just a distraction from the Democrats. This is
complete nonsense. And let's face it, Terry, if there was
anything to this, you know, the Democrats would have used
it years ago. They tried to do everything to destroy
our president, whether it be financially, whether it be you know,
in the court room, all the lawfare that was enacted

(07:39):
against him from January sixth to you name it. And
if there was something there, this would have come out
a long time ago. And we know that this is
just a bunch of nothing. And I think also, you know,
I'm really proud of the work that Jamie Comer is doing.
I mean, we should really applaud Jamie Comer, I mean
being share of oversight. I mean, he is working so
hard to make sure that every stone is turned over

(08:03):
and make sure that we get to the bottom of everything.
But there hasn't been a whole lot of there there.
And I think that this is a distraction. We need
to move on from this, and the President has been
very transparent about that. If there's something there, it's going
to be disclosed. But I just don't see a whole
lot coming out of it, and I think Jamie's going
to get to the bottom of it if there is something.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
All right, Well, that seems to be the rotating story
every day, and a lot of Democrat legislators keep bringing
it up as though it's the most important thing in
the whole wide world. So you say over and over
again in your ads, you are the Trump guy. You
are the one that aligns yourself with Donald Trump, even
more than Andy Barr or Daniel Cameron, the guys that

(08:43):
are the main opponents you have in the primary. Is
President Trump going to assist you in this race prior
to the primary election?

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Well, Terry, you know, the President does what he wants
to do when he wants to do it. But I'm
very proud of the campaign that we've run. I think
we are the Trump candidate. We're aligned with the President
one hundred percent. I'm proud that we were able to
launch on John Junior's podcast Triggered. I'm glad that you
know Charlie Kirk. His last political event was in Kentucky

(09:14):
helping to launch our campaign, and I'm so proud of that,
so honored that we were Charlie's last political endorsement. And
I think if you look at the rest of the
folks surrounding us, from Bernie Marino to Jim Banks to
the vaik Ramaswami, these are central figures in the MAGA movement,
and I think that tells you everything you need to
know about the campaign. How I will lead as a

(09:37):
Senator by the people that I put around me and
the people that are supporting us. And I think we're
going to continue to work hard every day to introduce
ourselves to the people of Kentucky, earn their trust and
hopefully earn their vote, and hopefully earned the endorsement of
the president.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
All Right, we'll see in the coming weeks or months.
I appreciated Nate as always.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Thank you, Terry. Great to be with you all.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
As always, Nate Morris. He is a candidate for the
United States Senate Vina at Natemorris dot com.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
