I think we should find a new segment called like
the Worst Trend on TikTok every week. I've been see
some real bad ones lately, and I feel like there's
something there, Like there's some that just make no sense
to me. This one is along those lines. There's this
new weight loss trend. I've been seeing a lot of
gen z are drinking these bottles of what they're calling
tadpole water.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
Oh you see this, Yes, I have.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
It looks disgusting. Yes, So it's basically a bottle of water.
It's got to be very lukewarm water. And they put
a few tablespoons of chia seeds in it and just
a fresh squeeze of lemon. But when you look at it,
it literally looks like frog tadpole like eggs in there.
Not great looking, and I'm sure I can't taste that
good either.

I do a lot with you of seeds down.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Then I put them in like plant based milk, and
I let him sit there and they absorb it and stuff.
Cheeseeds are good in fibers, So it might help you
nominally lose some weight by moving things through you assistant,
because the fiber. Yeah, and the lemon juice is good too.

They're saying cheese seeds are they're having a moment. Honestly, No,
people cheese seeds and all of the recipes lately.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, I mean, how many cheese seeds are in? There
is a tablespoon, a tea spoon, or what I mean
by some of these videos.

It looks it looks like a lot. It looks like
a lot. They call it tadpole water.

That's kind of what it looks like. Like you went in
a swamp and just got a little scoop of water
in there.

Well, that'll make you lose weight. Yeah, if you do
that again, I'm sure. Yeah. No, if you just take
something from a swamp and drink it, you'll lose weight
pretty fast.

Ye, yeah, there are some is just some dumb stuff.
I saw one the other week. Oh my god, here's
another one. I do have another one actually continues. They
were these dentists had to come on because these chewing
gum companies were selling extra strong gum that these teenagers
were chewing because every teenager wants a chisel jawlne. So
boys were chewing this extra strong gum thinking it was

working out their jaw so they would have a chisel
jaw line. And dentists had to be like.

That's stupid.

No, don't do that, Like that's really bad for you.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
There is some device I saw on Instagram one time
that you actually put in your jaw and you do
that with your mouth like you're chewing gum, but it's
not gum. It's kind of like you know, the old
grips we used in our hands as kids. Yeah, I
still have this right, I still have one of those two. Yeah,
And it's basically that for your mouth to give you
chisel jaw.

Yeah, can you exercise your jaw? Isn't it just genetics?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
I mean, they were saying, it's mostly genetics. There are
things you can do to tighten it up a little bit.
Oh really, okay, chewing strong gum is really bad for
your teeth.

It's not one of them.

just a few minutes here. The United States came out
on top of the Olympic medal count in Paris with
one hundred and twenty six total medals, including forty gold.
The fight for national brag and rights over gold medals
came down to the wire. In the end, shina US
tied with forty each. Some big events for Team USA

over the weekend, including gold medal wins for both men
and women's basketball, and a gold medal win in women's soccer.
Some of those games were tight. And what's so with

of Englewood has banned concerts on the plaza outside of
Sofi Stadium. This is in response to the hard summer

artistic interpretation of breakdancing. It's scored zero points, not one point.

So something goes wrong in school today, it's because he
was on talking to us. It's the first day of
school for a lot of kids today, My kids a
bit later on this week. If your kids need a

Good morning, good morning. What day number one is school?
How are you feeling, sir?

Speaker 8 (14:48):
I'm feeling amazing, you know, even though I didn't sleep
last night because I was at a bus yard in
Guardia at four thirty in the morning. This is by
far my favorite day of the entire year. Is like
a reawakening the sleeping giant called lasc from its summer nap.
I love it.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Wait, are you at the bus people like fixing buses?
Are you a mechanic on the side?

Speaker 8 (15:07):
No, no, no, they don't even let me drive them.
But you know, once I bring coffee and pastries to
the bus drivers, we send them off. You know, we
look at the brand new electric buses that we recently acquired.
We have one hundred and eighty on the way, fifty
six of them already on the grounds. And look, it's
all about you know, bright smiles and aspirations for this
school year.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Today's such a big deal. Four hundred thousand students returning
to school. We're talking now, Alberta Carvallo, the LUSC superintendent.
Now over the summer, LUSC. This is the big story
because it's effected. My son's school too. Is not in
your district, but a lot of schools will obviously follow
what New York and what Los Angeles does. So you
guys voted the band's cell phones during the school day.
The band takes effect in January if you're a district.
People in favor of the band say the cell phones

(15:49):
distract students from learning and have a negative effect on
their mental health. I told my son, who starts this
Wednesday at his school. He's out in the Mentora area.
I said, listen, it's going to take a second to
get used to it. You're going to feel that withdrawal,
but it's probably going to be better for you.

Speaker 8 (16:03):
I absolutely agree. Otherwise I would not be supporting this
new policy right. But look, we have about three to
four months here at LUSB to speak with the stakeholders,
with parents, teachers, scientists, the students themselves to get their opinion.
We're also researching the best ways of separating kids from
the phones. We're looking at technologies that disabled the cell

(16:23):
phone signal okay, in addition to pouches that students basically
place their phones into. But look, it's the right thing.
The mental health decay as a result of this addiction
to social media platforms, you've got to come to an end,
and kids ought to be kids and socially interact with
their peers as we did when we were kids.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
The biggest thing my kid told me goes, how am
I going to know where to meet my buddies for lunch?

Speaker 8 (16:48):
In the lunch room that's esposed to be If they
look up instead of down from looking their phones, they'll
see everything they'll need to see.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
You know, not that hard, I agree, But I do
know it will.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
It will be kind of hard for these kids because
we as adults have to realize that they honestly have
become so addicted to the phone, much like many parents
have too, I suppose. But I think in the end
it's the right idea.

Speaker 8 (17:10):
I think so too. And look, I know it carried
some degree of controversy, but the research is quite compelling,
and at some point we ought to do the right thing,
no matter how hard it is, and that's why we
did it.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Let's talk about one of the big things that will
pop up with LAOC this year. What's going on with
that menu? Yes, what's happened? This wasn't there for us
as kids?

Let me tell you, how about chick p masala aros,

Yeah, it's yeah, it's whole grain, low sugar. Listen, I
tasted it and I give it thumbs up. Brought about
twenty four kids of different grade levels, different ages, and
the things that kids will be eating this year. You know,
they got the seal of approval from kids themselves. Oh
my gosh, massive investment. And look, we're looking out to

build a central kitchen. It's time to start cooking food
in our kitchens again, rather than just simply heating up food.

Yeah, my mom was a cafeteria worker for a number
of years and she never made an assauti bowl or
a cheesy hollapeno bis with hot honey chicken. She was
at like rectangular cardboard pizza. That's what we had.

Listen, we've evolved, right, but you know, thank your mom
for the great works. Did We cannot think our cafeteria workers,
our bus drivers, our teachers are principals. Everybody that makes
lsd'd be the great school system it is.

Well, let me throw one last thing at you here,
because Brian, our producer, was talking about how at his
kids' school, the kids go to a Spanish immersion program,
correct which I think is brilliant. So they do a
fundraising thing where if they raise X amount of dollars,
their superintendent or they're you know, head of school of
principal will go down a slide that's just like covered
in whipped cream and cherry's and all this other stuff

and pine the face things. If there was a fundraiser
that was developed for lust for the kids, for the
arts program or something, would you go down a slide
covered in whipped cream.

That's asking a lot of me, But there's no limit

way around it, and they are. They're brilliant. So we
developed actually a digital responsibility policy on how to access
these digital assets, these platforms without abusing them. Cheating has

been around for thousands of years, right, But if we
sensitize our kids on the appropriate use of the assets
rather than the inappropriate use, then artificial intelligence such as
chat GPT can actually be a resource that helps, for example,
kids who are learning English on rapid translation help figure
out the problem. So it can be a resource rather

than a distraction or a tool for cheating. But it
goes with training and it goes with the responsible use
of these assets.

We're all just learning as adults as well, and the
kids are naturally because the tech more head of the curve.
So we feel like in some respects in my household,
