Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Baby Noah's review of Taylor Swift's new album
The Life of a Showgirl. Thank you, John Jay. I'm
assuming you introed me. You might be wondering why am
I not there in the studio just doing this myself?
Great question. You know how I take the day off
every time Taylor Swift releases a new album, Guilty it
(00:26):
goes really well with corporate anyway. So I just listened
to the brand new album and I'm gonna share with
you my thoughts, play you some snippits, give you the
full New Music Friday breakdown as quickly and easy as possible.
I know everybody out there is not as swifty and
you're tired of hearing Taylor Swift content. It's fair, I
totally understand. So I'm gonna make this a version of
(00:49):
New Music Friday that everybody can love. Diehard fan or
simple fan, or not a fan at all. Okay, check
on your wives, check on your girlfriends, check on your
best friends, because us Swifties that you guys have to
take care of. We're going through it. This is our
weekend and this album is insane. So without further ado,
I'll start right now, starting off strong with the fate
(01:09):
of Ophelia. She says, took my heart out of the
grave and saved me from the fate of Ophelia. I'm
a big fan of Hamlet. I read Hamlet twice, once
in high school and once in college. I think that
play alone is what Shakespeare is all about for those
(01:29):
Shakespearean people out there. The album's been out maybe an
hour at the time of this recording, and that song's
already trending on TikTok, so expect to hear it on
the radio, expect to see it online. The Fate of
Ophelia is the it Girl. Some other notable lines from
the album that got my attention. Next up, Elizabeth Taylor,
(01:53):
the girl who has everything but also nothing all at once,
go off, Queen skipping down. I have to mention wish list.
Wish list is about the industry. She complains, she grieves,
she loves, she says, she wants kids.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Hello.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Wish list is about thinking of settling down. This is
my song because it's not only catchy, but it's something
I can relate to. Getting lost in a person or
people or friend groups even and nothing else matters because
(02:43):
you're in love or because you're You're in that moment,
Your your your career doesn't matter, You're what people think
of you doesn't matter. You're just so lost in the
essence of it all. Nothing else matters when you're in love.
But it's especially hard right when the guy is Travis
Kelcey and this guy treats you well and you guys
really jibe together. And for Taylor, this could be endgame
(03:05):
this time for real, and it's it's crazy to think about.
It's a lot to process. And wish List is the
song about her processing it all. It's fun, it's catchy,
and it's a it's a look into her life, and
I feel like it's something we can all relate to
in our own different ways. Ten out of ten, Ten
out of ten. That is going to be repeat for me.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Forgive me it sounds cocky, tells me and open my eyes.
That would treat it ain't hard to see his love
was the key.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
That opened allan wood. She says, love was the key
that opened my thighs, which I think is very Sabrina core.
What a scandalous lyric from Miss Taylor Swift, as if
she hasn't been cursing in her last what six seven
albums Now. But speaking of Sabrina, let's talk about life
(03:54):
of a showgirl. The title track featuring Sabrina Carpenter. Their
voice is really well together. I thought it would be
a Sabrina cutaway verse, but instead they balanced off each
other and it wrapped the album up at the end beautifully.
They're harmonizing their telling a story and finishing a story,
(04:15):
and I just think it was a perfect album closer.
I really enjoyed this album. Now, before I go and
send you back to the studio, here are some honorable mentions,
starting off with ruin the friendship.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
I left school, I lost track of you, and I'm
a girl called you with the bad news goodbye.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
And we'll never know.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
It was not.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
At home anyway, It was so much love to say it.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Co Whisper.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Anyway, Abigail is mentioned and ruined the friendship. Abigail is
Taylor Swift's best friend since high school. She's come up
in songs before, and for us Swifties, that's just like,
oh my god, Abigail, Hi, we really, we really enjoyed that.
Leonora and I jamming out at home really enjoyed that.
(05:25):
For as poppy as this one was, I feel like
we'll be hearing it again. Another one that was hitting,
especially upon second listen, was actually romantic.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
We all talking about shoot sweet all the time you've
spent on these honestly.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
All the.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
It's actually man, it's really God.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
The Man. And last, but not least, I just want
to say, canceled. She is also the it girl on
this album. Nobody's talking about her yet, But man, was
that a good song.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
It's a good thing.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
I like all my friends canceled mid scandal. Can this
be the one about Blake Lively? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
You tell me concluding scared and well County at least
exactly your friends.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
So yeah, it's going to be a long weekend of
dissecting and talking to my friends and breaking down theories
and Easter eggs. But I gotta say, even if you
aren't a Swiftie, this was such a vibey album. Put
the song while you're studying or budgeting, or just chilling
at home while you're playing a video game. I'm talking
(07:00):
all the guys out there. I'm talking to the girls too.
I mean, this was really quite the vibe. I just
felt like I just wanted to sit down and drink
a whole bottle of wine and chit chat and talk
about all the things that I was hearing. It was great.
That's it for me from release night. What are your thoughts.
I'd love to hear them all. DM me share with me.
Back to you guys in the studio.
