Speaker 1 (00:00):
I want to bounce something off, you get. I had
a weird conversation with somebody yesterday and it's been it's
it's stuck with me, and it's I don't want to
say it bothers me, but it's just there, and I
want to bounce off the guess so I was. I
go to my gym. You know, Benisara's the name of
the place I go to. And you guys have met
Sophia on the phone. I think Sophia she's like the
I don't know what you call it, the welcome person
when you when you walk into the place. He cokies
(00:21):
and stuff. So nice. She's one of the nicest people
I've ever met in my life. But I was walking
out and she was over at the counter talking to
another woman, a patient there because it's a gym, it's
my doctor's office, right and everything. And she says, John Jay,
how many pairs of shoes do you have? And I go,
I was wearing I was wearing these Air Force once.
I go, oh, man, I have a whole bunch. I
I don't know how many I have. She's what makes
(00:41):
you wear the pair of shoes you have? And essentially
it's laziness, you know what I mean, Like, I wear
a pair of shoes until it gets dirty, and then
I'll put on another pair of shoes, and then I'll
try to clean the shoes with a towel or something
like Like when we were Virtucio Farms for Love Pub
family Fest, I put on some older shoes because I
knew they were going to get all banged up. Right.
She says to me, why don't you wash them in
the washing machine? And I'm like, hah, I go, I've
(01:04):
never washed shoes. And then she kind of like I
felt like she oh, okay, excuse me kind of thing.
And I was like, what do you mean, I go,
I didn't I never washed. I didn't know you could
wash leather shoes. I mean my Converse high tops okay,
but not leather shoes. And she's like, oh, to be
in John Jay's world. And I was like what. So
I'm trying to understand the disconnect I'm having with her,
(01:27):
and because you were just not in your head, Kyle,
what is it?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yeah, because You're like, I wear a pair of shoes
until they get dirty, and then I wear a different
pair of shoes. And it's like, well, if you still
wanted to wear those shoes, you could just wash them.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Well, I still wear the dirty shoes. I just don't
wear them anything.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Maybe, but maybe that's the way she.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Perceived I have lots of dirty shoes.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
The way you described it, it was like you wear
a pair of shoes until they're dirty. So maybe that's
how she interpreted it.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
And she's thinking, you're too big to your shoes are
too nice to throw and the dish are the washing machines.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
I didn't know you could do that to a leather shoes.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
Maybe I actually, to your defense, I washed my Air
Force ones and they got ruined. But maybe she thinks that, oh, Tanjay,
you just wear a pair of shoes and you throw
it away and get you a new pair of shoes.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Actually, actually, what's funny is I don't throw them away.
I have all my dirty shoes, and I know.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
But the way she perceived it may not be looking
into but you actually do.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
She's such a kind woman. And then the woman at
the counter says, why don't you take him to the
dry cleaner. They'll clean them for you there. And then
she's like they clean everything there, and I was like, well,
before I was married, I used to go to the
dry cleaner all the time, fluff and fold, Yeah, just
dropped it with seven dollars fold. Yeah. And then and
then Sophia was like, oh cause your mom did everything
for you, And I'm like, yeah, yeah exactly. Like so
I'm trying to so can you call her or there?
(02:35):
I just want to see if she's there.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
You wouldn't have understood anyway, the fact like you don't
even do throw anything in your watching machine.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
No, I don't even know which one's watch.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Do you have ever snubbed her recently? No?
Speaker 1 (02:47):
No, I don't think I've snubbed her.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
Maybe she's kind of like, oh you be like maybe
oh here I got it.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
Oh my god, it's a great song. Hello Sophia, Oh
my gosh, that was a great song.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Well was it? She thinks everything? Hi, Sophia, So you're
on our podcast maybe the radio. I wanted to ask you.
I wanted to talk a little bit about the conversation
we had yesterday when I was leaving.
Speaker 6 (03:15):
Refresh. My memory pleased.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
On the conversation, you asked me how many pairs of
shoes I have?
Speaker 6 (03:20):
Oh, yes I did, And you said I don't know,
And I said what do you do do you wash
your shoes? What do you do when they're dirty? And
you said, I just get a new pair. And I said, oh, okay,
why don't you wash your shoes? Why don't know we
could do that? And I said, of course you can.
You just put them in the washing machine and wash
(03:40):
them and then you just air dry them. And you're like,
you can, and I said, yes, John Jay, And that
was our conversation, right, you.
Speaker 7 (03:48):
Meant it out.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
You forgot to tell the part of the story where
you said that I get a new pair. You didn't
say that, Well, I.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Do get a new I mean I do get a
new pair. That's why I have so many pairs of shoes.
Didn't I don't think I did it come across as snobby?
Speaker 6 (03:59):
I mean, well you're talking.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
I will tell you it's pretty cool because I go
like urban hiking a lot, so my shoes get trashed,
and once you put them in the washing machine and
let them air drive, they look brand spanking at it.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
It's like a pair of shoes.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Yeah, and you're so surprised that they came out looking
so good. So it's a joy that you should experience.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
Oh okay, but it's like shoes are luxury, you know,
like not a lot. Like that's so I think maybe
it's like when it's like, oh, well I just get
a new pair when they're dirty, it's.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Like I didn't see it like that. Oh, I mean
I was being I was being honest with her because
when I do, like my favorite pair of shoes are
these air Force ones with the black stripe, and I
have three pairs of those, and those got really dirty
and I took a tle to try to clean them.
They couldn't, so I got another pair, and when I
bought the other pair, I just bought two, so just
in case, I really so, I mean, that was the
real answer.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
Yeah, it's fair.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
When you were asking what the disconnect was, and we're
just saying how that could be perceived, it's not the
way you mean.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Because no, because here's the she didn't finish too, you said, Sophia,
because then you go, oh, to be in John Jay's world.
Do you remember that one?
Speaker 6 (04:58):
Yes, I just say that because I was shocked John
Jay that you did not know that you can wash
your sneakers. And I think I even said, well, ask Blake.
I'm sure she knows that because she probably does all
the laundry. So I was just kind of surprised that
you didn't know that. And then I thought, wow, how nice.
I can just get a new pair of sneakers every
time mine get dirty.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
It's not every time they get dirty. When I get
a new pair of sneakers, my shoes are thrashed. They're
not like, oh there's a little dirt on them, I
can't wear them anymore.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
Okay, there you go, Okay, there you go. Yes, but
I did not think it was arrogant. I just know
it's just a beautiful it's a beautiful place to be
in John Jay's world.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Well, I want to make sure I did come across
arrogance the word look at I didn't not come.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
Across No, of course not. No, you cannot be arrogant. No,
you're too nice, and you're always so polite and kind.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
See.
Speaker 6 (05:51):
But it's not just John Jay. It's his whole family.
The kids are uber polite. They look at you in
the eyes. Blake is, of course my doll. I love Blake.
But yeah, no, you guys are. Oh and I always
say that when you leave. I'm like, he's like the nicest,
most polite, polite person and extends within the family as well.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
We just see head getting bigger and os.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
Okay, let me break it. He just told us he
doesn't know which one is the washing machine.
Speaker 6 (06:18):
Oh my god, somehow I believe that though. That's the
funny part. I do believe that.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah, I'm gonna I'm a cop blake right now. And
so she knows about washing shoes.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
I know when I see you, okays, have a good day.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
But by see, I wonder what I done. But oh,
I got to pick up the normal one though, right,
how come I don't hear doubt though?
Speaker 7 (06:41):
Nine one, I'm on my Apple Watch.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Oh hi, hello, Hi beautiful, Hi, Hey, how are you?
Speaker 2 (06:59):
I'm good? How are you good?
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Hey? I have everybody here because I want to ask
you a question. Do you know that you can wash
the leather tennis shoes in the washing machine?
Speaker 2 (07:11):
I did not know that.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Oh, thank you. Okay. I was just talking to Sophia
because yesterday Sophia made a comment about washing my shoes,
my leather shoes, and I said, I don't know you
could do that, and she said, I bet you, blake
knows you can do that.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
No, I didn't know that you could do that. I
thought you had to wipe them clean was like a
you know.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Wash cloth or delicate. I would do it by themselves
on delicate.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Okay, what ruined the washing machine? Big sized thirteen shoes washing?
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (07:39):
No, my it didn't ruin my washing machine. But my
like I said, my air forces got ruined when I
put them in the washing machine.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Delicate.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Wait, because how you dried them or were they ruined
right when you came out?
Speaker 5 (07:50):
They were ruined right when they came out. They were
like curved in a little weird.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Do you take the shoe strings out?
Speaker 5 (07:55):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (07:55):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
You don't know.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
But then again mine might be more like running type shoes.
So I haven't put like a pair of air Force
ones in there yet.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Okay, So what I'm gonna do is get an old
pair of air Force ones and can you can we experiment.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
We take out the inserts.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Yeah. You know. There's a couple of things, a couple
of thoughts. One is they sell all those fancy shoe cleaners.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Haven't I was given to me by birthday?
Speaker 2 (08:18):
And secondly, when I washed my cloth tenn of shoes,
you know, because I wash those all the time. I
have Pokas that are like cloth whatever.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
That's what I'm about.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
I watched those all the time, but I only wash
them with beach towels and stuff like. I don't wash
them with my regular clothes, but I do put in.
I never put them in by themselves. But I'm wondering
if that was your different skating of your leather shoes
being in their b Were they in there by themselves?
Speaker 1 (08:41):
They were?
Speaker 5 (08:42):
They were.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
I can't do that, Just do an delicate and then
take them out right away and then pull out the
inserts so they don't, you know, go.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
But first of all, First of all, so what we
agree on is you can wash the cloth shoes, for sure.
Rich you said you've done that, But have you washed
leather shoes.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
You've washed other shoes, okay, and which ones? Like why
they come out?
Speaker 3 (08:59):
They're like the court. I can see platform nikes, you know,
and they came out great. Okay, they came out look
at almost brand new.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
Did you put them in by themselves? No?
Speaker 3 (09:07):
I had it in with a few other things and
a couple other pairs shoes.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
Maybe, like you are right, maybe that was my problem.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Okay, I want to try with my Black Air Force ones,
the dirty one, the dirty ones. Yeah, yeah, all right,
all right, thanks Han. Okay, I was going to say,
I was gonna say when Kyle said she deal with
her shoes and they worked out fine, because I know
sometimes you have the imitation shoes, maybe the whatever or
the imitation product or whatever that maybe whatever product it
(09:36):
was made out of is resistant to being thrown in
the washing machine. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
No, I've never done that with any knockoff, knock off
that person. I haven't so many adidos, but I've tried
that out with you, So I don't know if i'd
recommend that.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
All right, So that was just a little behind the
scenes you got a little behind the scenes thing. Arrogant
John Jay
