Alrighty Born and everybody, and welcomeCacy Okay Radio program here on your Tuesday.
Oh boy, all right coming upon the show. Oh by the
way, Roster, so you erethe one brought it up yesterday. So
the that Spider Man murdered escape dude. Did you see the latest update on
(01:06):
him? Not? Okay? Sofor there's there's a there's a murder suspect.
They're looking for this dude escape prisonup in was he Inpact? I
think it was in Pennsylvania? Wasthe prison? But like but like he
did the he did the thing likeyou had to do and uh in where
like the prison Bain escapes where youhave to like do a gymnastic feat to
(01:27):
get out of there or something. And it's just it's pretty crazy, man.
Yeah. The video of like theguy like you know, a little
look out just standing there and thenhe's over in this little cubby and he
puts his hands straight up against thewall and then he props his legs up
and he walks up right with hislegs and like he just goes right over
the gate. What's what's the parkhour or whatever? Is that the thing
(01:51):
where they're doing all the stupid jumpingand gymnastic stuff and like urban settings.
I think they tried to make amovie out of it and realize that nobody
really even knows what it is orcares. All right, well, I'm
not resetting that. So yeah, yeah, so a little mix of a
little mix of that. So apparentlyhe broke into some homeowner's house still a
(02:13):
rifle and I did they like theydo like somebody like got a shot off
at him or something they hit him. I'm seeing two different reports. You're
hang on, I want to makesure I have the very uh latiste on
this. Whoop. That's then theywent on the wrong one. All right,
dud do you Yeah, So likethey're trying to figure out if dude
(02:38):
got got himself shot while attempting toget it right here we go. Okay,
so no, no, it doesn'tlook like it doesn't look like they
were able to but they think hedid get a rifle during the robbery.
So he's still running around doing histhing. Wait, so now he is
a gun? Yes, m Soit's like it's like a John Rambo McLean
(03:01):
thing. Now now he is agun. Yeah, and I understand he
did not undergo a background check completelyis it even possible, I guess,
so, yeah, And I'm prettysure that he was aware of the laws
surrounding that, right, because they, like, you know, part of
(03:24):
what you're getting convicted of a felonylike that is they're going to inform you
about some stuff you're not allowed todo even if you get out right,
you know, like here's the processif you ever want to vote again,
can't on firearms, a few otherrestrictions, like they kind of made him
aware of that, and uh it'sI'm getting the sense like he didn't care.
(03:47):
So uh yeah, So that storyjust gets more and more interesting,
especially if you're living in the areathere residents warned to stay inside yep PA
that Pennsylvania's got a pretty decent amountof gun ownership, even though they've they've
tried to draw that back. SoI think there's probably some folks are like,
(04:13):
oh, let him try to breakyou into my house. So I
know, we'll see, We'll seehow it goes. Don't worry everyone,
I've got the naked Virginia candidates story. Okay, I got it. It's
interesting how many of you are interestedin that story this morning. Ros you
know how that is, like sometimesthere's just a story. It's not even
(04:34):
necessarily like the top story. Butlike a lot of people suggested, right,
he just grabs everyone's attention because there'sbecause people are very invested in Virginia
state politics. You're on the show, right, I mean, we got
some listeners over in Virginia. Solike, so, yes, I have
that story that has that has grabbedyour attention. And it was in prep
(04:58):
right from the Dilly Wire article.Yes, I did put it. I
felt dirty reading it, like Ifelt like I was reading erotica. Did
you never think it would happen toyou? I never did. I'm like,
wow, but but okay, Ialmost don't want to ruin it.
I first of all, I calledthis. I called this, I said
(05:23):
that said, and Alex, I'llI will, I will remind you that
being said. You know, fundraisingis a thing, right not it's not
you gotta run for office. Yougotta raise the money. That's part of
the grind, man. You gottago raise a lot of it. You
(05:44):
talk to anyone, especially people youknow that at first at first election around,
especially when you get into you know, not necessarily local dog catcher,
no disrespect to the dog catchers, but once you get into where you gotta
raise a lot of money. Andwith the tooth and nail fight going on
up in Virginia for control up thereafter Democrats were shell shocked with young Ken
(06:05):
and the lieutenant governor and everything thathappened up there, there's a lot outside
money gonna be coming in those racestoo, So fundraising is important. How
are you fundraise? Sometimes it's alittle different, So yes, we will.
(06:25):
I have that story you did.The only person who didn't send it
to me that I was shocked wasBoston Paul. I just I figured that
was one of those that would crosshis Twitter feed or whatever, but everybody
else did. And yes, Ihave it, Okay, all right?
Rock on. Also, speaking ofpoliticians coming up, Ted Budd Senator Bud
(06:46):
will join us at eight o five. Got lots to get into, like
why we decided on nine to elevento dude, do they not have anyone
who does good deals up there inthis administration? Right? And and and
I I feel like to some extentit's almost and I don't want to just
(07:12):
do a party thing, but it'skind of a party thing, right because
you go back under Barack Obama andwhat did we do. We're like,
all right, they're like, whatdo you what do you give us for
one trader? And they're like,ah, I don't know. How about
how about five terrorists? They're sixthterror however, I haven't any we gave
him from Guantanamo about people who wantto eradicate our lifestyle and murder as many
(07:34):
Westerners as possible. How about wetrade you that for one uh one uh
one trader or one uh one guywent awall And of course they're like sold
American, no pun intended, right. And then we had the with arguably
the Afghanistan withdraw where they're like, all right, we're gonna leave now you
(07:57):
want all of our stuff. We'regonna give you all our stuff. And
even as they're leaving with an amazingdeal, they're like yeah and uh and
we're going to attack you and continueto put us casualties into the mix.
There. Then, of course wehave a w NBA player who's got a
(08:18):
little her her thhc vate pen andRussia sees an opportunity there and is able
to get what was a lord ofwar, right, lord of war.
And by the way, Russia isnow trying to get Putin's hit man,
(08:39):
as the dude's known his top hitman. Obviously he's got others, and
I think they want to trade fora Wall Street Journal reporter. All right,
So all of that's looming, andthen yesterday nine to eleven, we
get the announcement that the Biden administrationhas put other deal with Iran. You
(09:01):
remember Iran, who we just didanother deal with and gave a bunch of
cash. And then of course, who remember when they captured one of our
US military boats just for something todo, and we we we gave him
stuff at that point too. Well, now the Biden administration says they have
(09:22):
cleared the way for the release offive American citizens detained and Iran h and
as part of the deal, wewill release five Iranian let's see, five
Iranian citizens being held by the US. I don't have a Oh now,
(09:50):
people, I've never said anytime.I'm just calling yall purvs purves. But
I put in the prep two,so I guess I'm a purf two.
So whatever. All right? Yeah, but okay, so five Americans,
five Iranians, and we're gonna getWe're gonna release six billion dollars in Iranian
(10:13):
assets. We have frozen, whichwill totally just go for food and stuff.
I'm sure again you know that soundslike that sounds like all the Vikings
deals from the last two years, and we're the Vikings in this. So
five for five plus they get sixbillion dollars. Who's negotiating this stuff?
(10:43):
Who is who's sitting there and can'tgo okay, five for five? At
least with Russia, we had toget into we had to like discuss the
merits of the individuals, Like isa w NBA player versus a lord of
war who had remarkably different sentencing, right, you have to take that into
(11:05):
account, Like is is that agood trade? Here? They're like,
all right, we got five forfive and you get six billion dollars.
We're horrible. I almost want tostart my own country and then just do
deals with this administration. You know, much money you could make be amazing.
(11:28):
But that's what we're doing. Andwe're gonna talk to Ted Butt about
that for sure. So and wegot a bunch of other stuff too,
So that'll be eight h five. All right, Let's see here, we
got Fayetteville. People in matt andFayetteville because they want to have a a
(11:48):
curfew for the kids, which youknow that there A lot of towns have
those, A lot of cities havethose. I guess I just assumed Fayettville
did. Apparently they do not,But I don't understand considering some of the
problems, some of the challenges thatthe city faces with violence, and yes,
with youth violence, as well asjust maybe you don't want kids around
(12:11):
when all the other stuff's going on. White people are freaking out, and
ross looks like hollow decks are gonnabe a thing. So yeah, you
gotta be pumped over that, right, you're a big fan of the holiday.
I think Dennis Miller said a longtime ago. They're like, if
they could perfect that technology, itwould be our downfall because he'd never leave
the house. But isn't your spacegame doing that to you? Anyway?
(12:33):
It is? I played Lesson fromeight thirty to twelve thirty. It's one
of these games where I'm like, and this hasn't happening so long, we'll
I'm just gonna play for ten twentyminutes. Your wife said its search parties,
right, and then before you knowwhat, You're like, what do
you mean? My kids out ofhigh school? You know, well,
time flies, man, let's justmove so fast. Well if you if
(12:54):
you play it long enough, eventuallythe hollow decks will be here apparently.
So anyway, well we're gonna bouncearound. We've got lots of stuff to
get into. So stick around sixtwenty hang on the show. After the
show's on the iHeart Radio app.Search case O day for the podcast on
the iHeart Radio app. All right, Ross is sending me screen shot for
(13:26):
this game. He's been too,So what happened? You went? You
went? You went to the moonor something. I was in a random
root and I found a book andit gave me some coordinates and to put
the coordinates and it brings me tothe Apollo moon landing site. So you
know, you went to a soundstage in New Mexico. No, No,
the actual moon in in this universe. In the game, the moon
(13:48):
is real. Oh okay, sorry, No, we have to make that
distinction obviously, because you know itdoesn't take place of this universe. Otherwise
you'd be correct, did you.I don't see the moon fan here?
I might really confused, you know, But as serious though, because if
I A lot of these are thoughtexercises like that thing you were telling me
(14:09):
yesterday, where there's there's a certainuh, there's a certain there's a there's
an intellect to putting together. Sobasically, you had a bunch of people
decided they were ditching Earth, butthey did so at a time when they
didn't have warp drive, right, correct me if I screw this up.
And but they're they're headed off tothis planet. We think it's gonna be
(14:31):
good to go, but it takesthem like generations, like four hundred years
to get there. The problem is, while they're in their little old school
tug boat do a normal space speed, technology advances back on Earth with warp
drive. So the next group ofsettlers is able to get to the planet
in like a hot minute. Andso by the time the old school tech
(14:54):
tugboat shows up, their minds areblown because the planet that they thought they
were going to be the first peopleto populate, it's like it's already colonized.
Yeah, it's all colonized. Andso like, that's clever man.
There's so many little bits and pieceswhere I feel like I'm watching or participating
in an Old the Next Generation episode. I love it. Look they have
writers for these for video games andstuff like that you have to as intricate
(15:18):
as they are, and it's like, how is it this video game from
Bethesda, which if you're into gaming, there's certain issues that pop in your
mind with that particular developer, likethe storyline and and all of the little
the little nuggets there seem to farexceed a lot of the crap that Hollywood's
(15:41):
churning out. Have you got?Is there any woke stuff in there yet?
I mean, I know people wereover the pronouns were kind of right.
The only thing that I've experienced isthere's like a in the character creation
menu they ask your pronouns and that'sit takes ten seconds. And I haven't
encountered I've probably put over twenty hours, which is nothing with this game into
it. At this point, youhave people that have put in like one
hundred and twenty two hundred hours andyou still haven't cracked the surface of this
(16:04):
game. But I haven't run intoanything that I'd be like, oh,
what is this about her? There'snothing that I can find a complaint about
so far when it comes to thewoke stuff, I haven't run into anything.
So if I had to do that, you know, I had to
think it out thing too. Theonly thing I would say is, you
know, right now we're currently talkingabout how space exploration is going to require
us to put facilities and infrastructure onthe moon right or near the moon for
(16:30):
the because of once you get stuffup there, you gotta refuel and do
all that. And I don't seeany of that in the photo, which
would be logical. But it isvery, very far in the future.
So maybe meth heads took it andsold it. I don't know, man,
you're day smarter one six one atthem talk and News TALKTI more where
(16:52):
the KC starts. Now, allright, welcome back to thirty five year
on the Cacokay Radio program. SoI guess if you're a Jets fan,
you guys still trying to figure outwhat you did to irritate God. Man,
(17:14):
dude, I don't know. Theyseem to do okay. Well,
I mean technically they won, right, but did they really? Yeah?
So if I guess if you ifyou don't know, yesterday the first of
many this is, by the way, this is the thing that has NFL
worried. Right here, the firstof many many prime time NFL appearances.
(17:41):
The schedule for this year for theJets, I think they have the most
right because the NFL was banking onthis, uh, this perennial loser for
many years. With the addition oflike Sauce Gardner, I heard they signed
a decent running back and then bringingAaron Rodgers over, among other things,
(18:03):
and there's a few other pieces thatthe team would be much improved and could
even find themselves making a playoff run. Which look, when you start looking
at the pieces that they brought in, is it was one hundred percent possible.
And in the first drive, afterhe had one unsuccessful pass attempt,
Aaron Rodgers went down and immediately asa carting him off on the stretcher.
(18:30):
People are people are worried, andthe X ray has come back clear,
which actually then gets some more worriedbecause until you get an MRI, with
the type of injury and the painthat he was in and everything going on,
you're looking at one of two things. High ankle sprain, which ain't
good, especially for a quarterback oranybody for that matter, but especially for
(18:53):
a quarterback because it's a It keepsyou out for a while, but it
also lingers if you try to rushit back and then the worst, the
worst way that that injury is diagnosedwould be achilles, and they were already
saying that that's what they think itis, and that means he's done for
(19:14):
the season. So Zach will doyou see the shot of the coach's face
when he had to sub Zach Wilsonin there. He he looked like he
just got like somebody just handed himsome news that like his family had been
in a car accident or something.I saw because I was sitting there playing
money a game Starfield love it,and everybody starts sending me, you know
(19:38):
stuff about the Aaron Rodgers news, and my immediate thought was, we're going
to lose the game now, well, because it has one of two things
it right. It can it couldsap the Jets or it could motivate other
good players, which is a mindsetthat a lot of people that play at
the highest levels in sports have that. All Right, I'm gonna need you
(20:00):
know, I'm gonna add an extraten percent everything that I'm doing plus plus
the bills are gonna bills and uh, but also the Jets are gonna Jets.
And you know, if Josh Allendidn't play like garbage they probably would
have won, but he played latetrash and that's what did you have Allen
in? I'm not sure because Iwas playing my game. But listen,
(20:21):
they lost. They lost to theJets last year. That was one of
their losses because they lost three games. That was one of them. And
they have what were the other ones? Do you remember any of the Miami
and I can't remember the third one? You sure? I can't remember?
It's Minnesota. I honestly had forgotten. Oh okay, I thought you were
just yeah, no, no,no, completely forgot. Yeah. Yeah,
those are the three. Yeah.Yeah. And the Jets have a
(20:41):
great defense. They have no line. Apparently the Bills have the same problem,
and uh yeah, I think likeWeek one is a liar. I'm
not concerned. I'm really not.I I watched zero minutes for the game.
I don't know I was I wasgoing to, but I like,
I got prep done and all thatand was sitting there and then you sent
it back and I was at eatingsome dinner and I'm like, I'm gonna
(21:03):
just I think I'm gonna go inmy bedroom and just flip on something on
the TV or whatever, and Idude, I was out, like twenty
minutes. I don't know what happened, but I would have It was right
before the game would have started,So, I mean, I got a
bunch of sleep, but I didn'tsee any of the game. And I
wake up this morm. Let mego check the score, and it's just
Aaron Rodgers died, right, justall the headlines obviously. But that's the
(21:26):
other thing. I'm like, well, you know, listen, if if
I have to choose between a lossor our quarterback blowing out as Achilles,
I'm gonna take the loss. Itwas interesting too, Yeah, oh,
I mean that's obvious. That's obviousbecause you know, ultimately, yeah,
he didn't he didn't play well. But Josh Allen is still a good player,
right, so he said one gameevery year man where he just can't
(21:49):
play football, and I think it'sanxiety. So hopefully that's out of his
system now. And pissed off JoshAllen is not a friendly, like you
don't want to play angry Josh.So I'm who they're playing next week,
but good luck, okay, allright, And even if they go,
oh and what is it seventeen now, yes, oh it's seventeen, they're
still my team. I don't care. That's good. That's the attitude that
(22:15):
you gotta have. Man. Ilived through the nineties. I can handle
whatever. Dude, Yeah adverse. Can you imagine like you have a team
and they gift you, what sixSuper Bowl wings, right, and then
immediately you throw them away for anotherteam, just abandoning that, Like what
kind of loyalty? I can't evenimagine, dude, somebody who would do
(22:36):
that. Oh wow, maybe ateam in a warmer area or something.
I don't know. I'm just spitballinghypothetically here. Tampa. Yeah, that
would be. That would be that'dbe low down man. So but you
know, with the Jets, it'sjust like, I mean, I feel
a little bad, but we gotour own problems to so you really start
(22:57):
wondering if like a curse is realwhen it comes. Well, I'll tell
you what's interesting is and I sawpeople making comment of this, and some
dude even predicted it. Let mesend me a tweet and I'm looked at
the time of it, and theysent it, you know, prior to
the game, that says Josh Allen'sgonna tear his achilles on that wet on
(23:18):
that wet field, and people arelike, oh my gosh, it's this
dude's literally psychic kind of There's there'sa bigger concern here, and it's a
concern that in within New York Sportsand both Giants and Jets camp that has
been a point of discussion, andthat is the turf there. They don't
like it, and they don't likeit because it's just it's slippery. In
(23:41):
fact, it is so unliked inthe world of sports that MetLife Stadium,
as part of their bid as successfulbid I might add to host the World
Cup in twenty twenty six, hadto agree to get rid of that turf
and put in a proper pitch there, you know, proper grass in there.
(24:02):
Before the FIFA would agree to havethe World Cup because they were concerned
that the turf, especially if there'ssome moisture, would be they would have
a bunch of injuries, and sothey made so they agreed to do that
for the soccer but not for theNFL teams that literally play in the stadium.
So this is a known problem, you know the same thing that's what
took out von Miller last year withhis achilles, the same same t Yeah,
(24:26):
so it's it's you know, peoplehave had this concern already, and
if you're a negative Nancy and youjust you're already already upset over the turf
and you think it's really crappy thatwe're willing to bend the knee for soccer
and not the NFL teams that makethat stadium what it is. Yeah,
I would understand people's frustration, butI'd also understand their ability to kind of
(24:47):
predict that there could be an issue, because now you're just being cynical with
worst case scenario and it panned out. So there you go, all right,
eight eight eight nine three four seveneight seven four the phone number.
Also, what did NC State doif we're talking about who's irritated higher powers?
If you don't know, during thehome opener this year, so the
(25:12):
second game of the season, butfirst game at Carter Finley, there was
there was there was weather. Obviouslyyou're probably aware of Saturday's weather, which
actually required there in the middle ofthe of the game to get everyone out
of the stadium, all right, because they had a weather delay and people
were they were letting people up inthe PNC and whatnot to get out of
(25:33):
it. Thankfully, you know.I remember the Hurricane game, which was
also against Notre Dame. I wasthere for that one, and we had
like we were having to ratchet straptailgate stuff to trees. I remember the
governor was like, Oh, you'reall stupid for going over there. And
I remember going into Carter Finley andit was raining so hard and we sat,
we sat kind of low, andso all of the water from the
(25:56):
entire of the stadium was just backflowninto us. We were so dumb.
But in this case you got lightningconcerns. Well, you also have to
know that NC State just spent agazillion I think it was fifteen million,
But they spent a crap ton ofmoney on the scoreboard, which is an
amazing scoreboard. I think it's oneof the biggest or best or most expensive
(26:17):
in all of college football. Andso they turned this, they turned this
thing on for you know, halfof a football game, and God smoted
it or smited it, whichever Iguess would be more accurate. Lightning hit
the damn thing. So it's like, what is going on right at the
beginning to the seasons. Man,you didn't injure one of your best players,
(26:41):
but your new toys broke. Canyou imagine been fifteen million on that.
I'm not rubbing it in, it'sjust like, come on, what
happened? But yeah, so it'sbeen weird, just weird in the world
of football, both professionally and collegiately. All right, but then where do
you believe you? I mean, have you ever had a new TV?
(27:03):
Like you're like new toy and youbreak it immediately? There's somebody else does.
So Actually I had it when Imade the transition to what was the
tech there was at the time. There were a couple of different ones.
It was d something that DR somethingor other TVs and for a while it
was kind of that beta Max VHSthing going on, and I bought that
(27:27):
one, which in hindsight it wasn'tthe technology that were that one out,
but it was a good TV.The problem was that particular TV wasn't good.
And I got it home and Ihad it for like three weeks,
and all of a sudden, I'mwatching and there's this like, you know,
like the old flashbulbs about you whenyou're watching a movie from like the
(27:48):
thirties, where literally like the lightbulbs are breaking, falling on the floor
and went on. You hear thatsound the TV did that, and like
you saw because I had the lightsout, you saw like it back lit
from like a little mini explosion inthe TV against the back wall. It's
awful, Like, oh my gosh. But I went back to bast By
(28:11):
and they gave me a new TV. Mark Marky gifted me. It was
probably not this TV but our lastone. I think Lincoln was maybe maybe
not even two years old, somaybe it was ten years ago, but
it was remember when you got yourbad Boy? Yeah? Yeah, it
was like the big fifty sixty inchwhatever it is. Yeah, yeah,
yeah, super excited. This isbefore four K. But it was so
excited to set everything up. AndLincoln's walking around as you do as a
(28:34):
kid, wearing his diaper, andhe's wearing a magician's hat on and he's
waving around a Harry Potter one andhe goes up to the TV and boom
booms it and I'm like, isit the Harry Potter one that I gave
you? It was? I thinkit was, yeah, No, I'm
sorry, yeah, maybe maybe itwas. But he hits it and I'm
like, oh my god, whatis that? And we just got the
(28:57):
new TV last year, the whenwe now the four K one, But
every single time we would watch thatold TV and there would be like,
you know, a blue sky, clear as day or white, you would
see down the center of the TVa black like where the bulbs or whatever
the pixels didn't work. Yeah,just a black line. That's a horrible
(29:18):
spell, it was. I wasso angry, man, that was a
bad spelling. Why would you evenlearn that spell? Whatever? He was
castful? Yeah, yeah, Iforgot about that and lit the TV was
set up for maybe I don't know, like five minutes. Five minutes.
I was like that, that's akid thing. I know. I know
(29:38):
there are other like my niece,my nieces and nephews. Like the stuff
that they destroyed in my brother's houseis just bonkers. Man. I'm like,
why I'm not saved. You shouldrestrain these kids in another room with
straight jackets. But like it mightbe more affordable for you because they were
(30:02):
because he had a bunch of boys, a bunch of boys, and it
was right in that era where they'reall like I don't know, like three
to three to eight. I thinkit was the oldest one. So there's
like there's four boys in there. So there's three boys and a girl I
think in that, yeah, becauseand then there's the other ones because he's
got a bunch of kids and theseso these three would just run around and
it was crazy, like if youever needed, like if you need a
(30:26):
demolition crew and you're having trouble staffing, like these three would have been great
for you. And so he justgot to the point where he just wouldn't
buy anything. Yeah, it's prettymuch what you do. Yeah, it's
just like we're gonna wait this out. No, I mean we waited it
out with the TV. We didn'tget a new one, and you know,
at first, I was really angryand upset, but as time went
by, Like I can remember watchinga movie when the final movies we watched
(30:48):
in that TV before we get thenew one, and there was one of
these scenes where it's a clear bluesky or just white or whatever, and
when I would see that mark inthe TV, honest to god, it
would kind of make me smile.Yeah, because you remember it him running
around in diapers and you know, two and just casting spells and whatever.
Did you know? I get that? But like you kind of love your
(31:10):
new TV too, don't yeah, you do, okay. And my first
thing we said that, I said, do not go near the TV.
I said, do you remember whatyou did when you were two? Well?
Yeah, because now he's old enoughto reason with. I mean,
so anyway, all right, sixforty nine, let's go. We're gonna
get into the just reminder eight ohfive, we're gonna chat with Senator Ted
(31:30):
Budd a few things to get intowith with him. We got some spring
court appointments. But when we comeback, I just have a question about
something and maybe I'm missing something.I really love somebody in law enforcement to
help me out here, and thatis this story. And r l's run
multiple versions of the story though nowthey've got people's names in here, and
(31:52):
I don't think they're charged with anything. I don't even know because I don't
know. And this has to dowith anti Semitic flyers being distributed in uh
Northern Wake County. We'll get intothis coming up, because again, I
just have a couple of questions, and I tried to look back on some
(32:14):
other stories that were similar to this, and I still have not found a
satisfactory answer to my question. ButI'll lay it all out for you next
here on the k C O Dayradio program. Hey, you know those
things when you're responsible at all thatyou have to do well, Thank you.
KC is one four five w PTIin the Triad and one uh six
(32:36):
one FM Talk in the Triangle. All right, let me give you the
quick gist of this story. ButI am curious because I'm not I've not
found a satisfactory answer. And maybethere's especially somebody in law enforcement or you
know, from a lawyer perspective, can help me. And I've seen r
els ran like some multiple versions ofthe story. They did update it,
(32:57):
and I see that they put thetwo names of two individuals they say are
in custody, but I can't findwhat they're charged with or if they're charged
with anything, which are a elemancethey can either. And I thought the
policy was you didn't put names ifpeople aren't charged with stuff, but I
don't. Obviously there is a thereis a an angle here because it wasn't
(33:19):
phone books. They were reportedly thrownin yards, although that raises another question
which we'll get to. It saystwo men are in custody that like I
said, their names are in thereafter distributing anti semitic flyers Sunday in wake
Forest and Rollsville, Elizabeth Springs neighborhood. I don't know specifically which one that
is, but apparently a resident therefound a zip block bag with flyers in
(33:43):
the drive. The reason they putin zip block where they'll put some like
beans or something in there, isjust to weight it down right then go
by and just throw it in ayard. And they don't just do it
with this. We've seem you know, with anti Semitic flyers or racist flyers,
because there was like I think therewas some plan flyers or something that
at the same setup. They alsohave to do it with like pizza stuff
(34:04):
that I've seen people get mad.I think I'm comparing the two, but
I do have questions about what exactlythe charges are, so I'm gonna dive
into more details. We'll do thatcoming up right after the news stick around.
(34:58):
All right, good morning, everybodyis seven those six here on the
PCO Bay Radio program phone number eighteight eight nine three four seven eight seven
four. All right, let melet me, let me get into this
story. And it's I mean,it is its own story, but it's
(35:23):
very similar to some other ones thatwe have seen where somebody goes into a
neighborhood or a group goes into aneighborhood and they are distributing flyers of some
sort. And and by the way, I understand that in some of these
instances, especially ones where they neverreally figure out who was doing it,
(35:45):
that some people speculate that it's likeit's the disinformation campaign to make a political
party look good or bad or whatever. I understand that all those theories exist.
But there are several instances, asI was able to find where people
were I were charged or identified inthese instances. And so that's when we're
(36:07):
dealing with here. And I'm tryingto figure this out because I understand the
frustration of the homeowner. I understandthe how people are repelled by what some
of these flyers say, whether it'suh anti Semitic flyers or some of the
(36:27):
the the Clan flyers. There's beenflyers that we're if you look, we're
right on that right on that edgeof where is it politic? You know,
like you get into black lives matterstuff, and people have a wide
variety of opinions and and so II understand that there's going to be a
(36:49):
range of what people see as hateflyers, annoying stuff, or just you
know, other stuff that ends upthat you know, you go home and
like, so somebody stuck a pizzathing in your screen door, which I
get irritated by that stuff. Iknow it's a little thing, but it's
just like, don't touch, don'ttouch my place. So or like when
(37:09):
phone books would show up randomly andI'm like, nobody uses this, stop
it, although that thankfully ceased. So I look, I understand it runs
the gamut. And I'm not sayingall are created equal in the eyes of
the people who receive it or thepeople distributed for that matter. And a
(37:32):
lot of stuff is going to beeasily identifiable and easily agreeable by the majority
of the population that it is.It's it's racist, or it's anti semitic,
or whatever you want to call it. But I just want to point
out it runs the gamut because whenyou go to enforce stuff, you're going
(37:54):
to be bound by You're going tobe bound by the fact that when it
comes to the protection of speech,it gets dicey and it doesn't necessarily matter
just what the speech is. Youknow, hate speech is protected. Speech
(38:15):
is a thing and all, butwe're not you know, in this case,
you're talking about speech that's going toa homeowner, it turns into when
the government steps in to do somethingabout it, right, And so,
when I was trying to wrap myhead around is I read this story,
is so these flyers are being distributed. They talked to a woman who in
(38:37):
the neighborhood. She said, whileshe respects people's freedom of speech, she
didn't appreciate the flyers being left underproperty. I'm with her. I wouldn't
want him on my property either. They have a right to their opinions.
Just don't force it on anybody else. The woman said, putting something like
that on my lawn is forcing iton me. Yeah. Again, I
(38:58):
don't like people putting cards in thedoor, or flyers or phone books or
any of that stuff. I justgot to clean it up. It's annoying
to me. However, I don'tknow that it's inherently illegal. That's what
I'm trying to figure out. Andso I tried to find in other instances
where they found people doing this atboth in North Carolina and other you know,
(39:22):
other states where I saw examples, what do they charge with And as
I go through and I look atwhat the charges are in many other instances,
and I don't know what they arehere. I have not seen anything
definitive, and I haven't seen themshow up on the county website. The
charges run the gamut from littering, but that's generally in places that have ordinances
(39:44):
where you can't leave anything on property, so you couldn't even you couldn't put
restaurant menus as some restaurants will do, or phone books for that matter.
Maybe in this case obviously anti Semiticflyers as they're described, so it so
in that case, it's at it'ssome sort of littering ordinance. But most
(40:08):
often I see people charged with kindof catch all stuff like disorderly conduct,
which you know, that's one ofthose charges where it's you can find a
whole lot to fit in that barrel. But then I don't know. So,
so here's what I'm trying to understandfrom somebody in law enforcement or in
the lawyering world. Is this inherentlyillegal? I understand that it's uh,
(40:32):
it's it's it's shocking to a neighborhoodand to many of the people that responded
here. And if your kid foundit and like looked and it's like,
that's the whole thing, and it'ssomething that I understand that nobody would want
to nobody would want to have todeal with, but I don't. I
(40:53):
don't, And and so then itraises the question, well, if if
it, if there's not really chargethat fits it, how are you arresting
people? Look, I don't wantthis to come across as some sort of
defense of the actual content of thespeech if they are. In fact,
I haven't seen the flyers, so, but I've seen versions of some other
(41:15):
flyers that have showed up recently inthe area. So if they're similar to
that, yeah, I understand whypeople think that that's anti semitic. But
you're allowed to have that view.We got members of Congress that run around
with that view. And if you'reallowed to paper people's yards with other stuff,
is there is there a legal linewhen it's that versus some of the
(41:38):
other stuff that I love that Isaw. I'm just trying to figure out
what the charges in the law arebecause I you know, I'd like to
know this stuff definitively, and Iam unable to ascertain it. So maybe
somebody can help me. Out eighteight eight nine three four seven eight seventy
four. I don't know people saying, well, Liz, I don't know
(42:04):
that's forcing hate speech. Well,I mean that's obviously that's a subjective personal
opinion. And if that's her opinion, that's her opinion, that's fine.
But it is littering in my opinion. Yeah, Look, if you if
you want to be able to enforcesomething like this, other municipalities have made
it illegal for you to go andpost things with very rare exceptions. I
mean the exceptions generally are like ifif a government agency needs to post something,
(42:29):
or sometimes they give political exceptions. That's the other thing. I hate
getting littered on the property. Butyou know where they're like could, but
you know politicians are I'd like tomake laws then carve out so they can
do stuff, you know, likewhen they were when they were doing this.
They can spam act like they getan exception, and any of the
phone call legislation. They're good togo, right, they always do that.
(42:52):
But if you're gonna if you don'twant people doing anything, then you're
gonna have to do a catch allso that the guy dumping anti Semitic flyers
and the guy dump in restaurant menushave accountability under the same law, and
I don't know what that is.I saw somebody else asking this question on
Twitter, and everyone was screaming thatthey're an anti semi And if if you're
(43:15):
that ignorant to not understand what I'masking, I want you to think about
the fact that you may hold someviews, thoughts, or political opinions that
some of your neighbors might find atroubling right, that's a that's a possibility.
(43:36):
And so if for whatever reason youdecide to advocate through that with that
by like you know, handing outpolitical pamphlets or thoughts or anything, just
just keep in mind that what you'resitting there and and deciding is because under
your definition is how it should be. It doesn't just make it so.
(43:57):
That's not how it works. Whereyou get to be the subjective person about
what is or isn't illegal, youhave to have defined stuff. That's all
that I'm saying, And I wantto know what that definition is. Eight
eight eight nine three four seven eightseven four Is that? Am I?
Am? I clear on this question? I think so, So I want
to get some calls on that eighteight eight nine three four seven eight seven
(44:21):
four because I've I've tried to figureit out and I haven't been able to.
All Right, let's do this sevensixteen. We'll see if we get
some calls lined up, and we'llcome back. We've got lots more to
get into as well. It isthe case O Day Radio program. This
is one oh six one FM Talkin the Triangle, and there's talk PTI
(44:45):
in the Triad. Well. Aspredicted, some of you don't get it.
I know, well when look whenyou have more and more people who
have now undergone the indoctrination that speechis violence. Sometimes it is threats of
violence, and that is a that'sits own thing. That is a carved
(45:07):
out exception. But that's not whatmany of these instances that we've seen on
like college campuses or examples of whatprotesters are holding signs of going to the
speeches violence and they have a quoteand I'm like, they're not threatening violence.
I don't necessarily agree with what thatperson said, but I don't know
(45:28):
that they're threatening violence. And thereason that you have to have consistency with
this, and I think that Ithink that if people just sat down to
think about it, is if ifyou allow like a choose your own adventure
on this stuff, then what exactlyis quote unquote heat speech. There's no
(45:50):
consistency. And you know it was, it was back in the day.
You know, there were communities, especially right especially in the South, where
if people went and were advocating forideas that many many of the very same
ideas and I think many of theseprotesters would say are very good things that
(46:12):
for this for this country, rightof equality or voting or any of the
rest. Police police would involve themselvesin tamping that down in some in some
ways, in very illegal ways. And I'm not I'm not saying that the
two things are equal, but ifthey don't meet the definition of threatening violence,
(46:32):
they're treated as equal. And sothat's why you have to have you
have to have consistency on this stuff, because while those are I think most
people would agree or very opposite endsof the spectrum examples, it's when you
start getting into those gray areas thatpeople and people see this, they see
(47:00):
the version of this on social mediawhere you're like baffled, wait, well,
why is this something that they tookoff? But this isn't something where
who was it was it an Instagramwho just there was a de transitioning girl
who was literally sharing her experiences andthey claimed that she was her post war
(47:20):
violence. I see. I sawthat story the other day and it's like
she's talking in the first person, like this is what I experienced. So
that's why I asked these questions becauseI have intellectual curiosity, but also I've
long advocated on this show, ifyou want to have a law, it
needs to be easy to understand sothat people so that you can accurately say,
(47:42):
hey, you knew this was illegalbecause X. Why here's the law
and it's very easy to read. And that's all I want. And then
I want enforcement across the board thatis equal, because equality is a good
thing. Equity is garbage, aswe've as we talked about the examples there,
but that's what you strive for,and that's what I thought. Police
(48:04):
people who were protesting the police wereadvocating for the equal application of the law,
but also the equal application of howpolice interactions went. But crazy me.
All right, Sarah, what's up? Hey, good morning, Casey.
I love your radio show. Thankyou for having me on. So
(48:28):
I wanted to chime in on theperson that has the paper or whatever it
is that was on their lawn oron their front porch, and you're asking
about is it legal. Well,in in my neighborhood, we have a
very strong, very noted no solicitationlabel on our on our neighborhoods. You
(48:50):
can't come through, you can't hangthings on our door, et cetera,
et cetera. So I think thatmight be the answer you're looking for.
Is it solicitation that I heard?I'm relieving Yeah, no, And I
thought about that because you're right, and but that's not Those are not necessarily
the charges that I've seen. Ihaven't seen that, except there is a
(49:10):
law, and there are laws invarious places that if a neighborhood such as
yours, and they post a signright that says it, or homeowner posts
a sign that says it, thenit can be an administrative violation right because
that law is not a law ofgovernment, it is a law of hoa.
However, it then has a secondarygovernment version where they say, look,
(49:34):
if people go through the trouble ofposting this and you still do it,
and they posted it in the properlettering in size much like the gun
free stuff, then you are thencommitting a law, but I don't.
I haven't seen an instance where that'swhat somebody's charged with. So I appreciate
the thought because I have the samethought too, but I haven't seen anything
that matches that. Patrick, realquick, what's up? Good morning?
(49:59):
Thanks to take them up. Carloapologish for not here in all of your
about this, but yeah, Iwanted to point out a general statute that
you can look up on your computerfourteen dash for a one point fourteen ethnic
intimidation. Simply put, it hasto have a threat on the document.
It's a class one misdemeanor. Orif you have a group of people that
(50:23):
you want to teach this UH badidea too, and you have the means
to do it and you're teaching howto do it there, that's also a
class one misdemeanor. So there's twoelements to that statute. Carolina. When
you say the bad idea, whatyou mean is you're teaching people how to
go out and threaten people. Thatwas want to be about. Yeah,
(50:45):
correct, point out the two thetwo facets of this UH statute. It's
flash four one point fourteen. Itmight help your conversation this morning. No
absolutely, sir. That's because itgives me something to thank you for the
call to look four to see ifthat's in fact the charge this front.
See look at that. We're fillingin the gaps here. All right,
(51:07):
you got lizards smuggling and more callscoming up. Yeah. Hey, it's
Jesse Kelly Smart Talk all day fourfive w p TI in the Triad and
(51:28):
one oh six one FM Talk inthe Triangle. All right, welcome back,
seven thirty five. Good morning hereon the k c O DA radio
program. They're rather interesting little smugglingstory here customs officials in China. Let's
(51:54):
see or excuse me. Well,so here's the deal. So it was
it was the the border from mainlandChina into Hong Kong. So I'll let
you decide whether that's China or not. But and it was on the Chinese
mainland side. I'm assuming. Idon't even I don't even know how that
(52:15):
how that works to travel between thetwo. Is it Hong Kong officials who
did the searching? But whatever, because there's many I guess it was Chinese
mainland security officials. Okay, allright, So she's getting ready to go
through the port, and the reasonyou go through report is because it is
a faery that gets you over there, so and they treat it as an
(52:40):
international travel, which you know,it was interesting when China claims in Hong
Kong is part of China, thatyou yourself have international travel. But that's
not the point of this. Thepoint is a Chinese woman was seized after
officials say she attempted to smuggle sixteenlive lizards the inside of her bra.
(53:05):
The lizards I had to look thisup because I'm trying to figure out how
big these things are. They obviouslyweren't adults because she They say that they
were sail thinned lizards, which areI think there are a threatened species,
but specifically in China you're not allowedto import them, which is weird because
you pretty much bring anything else inthere from a critter standpoint, So she
(53:30):
was attempting to smuggle them into HongKong. The lizards, which can attain
a length of twenty four to thirtysix inches as adults, juveniles generally between
twelve and sixteen inches, So Imean, these are not They're not tiny
little lizards, and I don't knowhow big they were, but big enough
(53:52):
to obviously stand out two officials. Also, is that a little weird if
like you're sitting there and your chestis, like, you know, moving
a lot, I'm assuming I'm assumingthat's gonna draw a notice. Also,
(54:13):
ross you read this story right?Yes? I did? Did you did
anything? Did any thought as youwere evaluating whether this plan was gonna work?
Did you have any thoughts that eitherwould increase or perhaps decrease the effectiveness
of the plan that crossed your mindabout? Surely have no idea what you're
(54:35):
speaking of about the smuggler or theattempt at smuggler. As are you speaking
about the size of the smuggler akind of is that what you're getting that?
I mean, if you're saying itwould be easy to smuggle all the
lizards in your chest if you hada chest, like if you were a
(55:01):
miss bum Bum contestant over in Brazilversus a demure woman as she appears to
be in this vote. The pictures, I mean, they're blurred so he
can't see any of that, butyou can get a general sense of her
(55:22):
size, and she looks like asmall, small Chinese woman. And I
just feel like, if you're pack, if your BRA's packing sixteen lizards that
their length even if you go thesmallest juvenile length is you know it still
about a foot? Is that adead giveaway? I'm trying to be but
(55:49):
you know what I'm asking right,Ross doesn't want to touch this with a
with a ten foot lizard, youknow, anything to do with this.
I just feel I just feel likemaybe that wasn't the best plan, or
you need smaller critters to smuggle, like some geckos or something. I don't
(56:10):
know. Man, she got bustedand obviously obviously they figured it out real
quick because they put the video out. But they say it's not even the
weirdest thing that they say that eventhis month, a passenger attempted to smuggle
into Hong Kong through this very sameport of entry. They say another woman
(56:30):
was arrested for uh, attempting tosmuggle seventy seven seahorses. Now that seems
more practical, right. Seahorses aresmall, right, I mean some are
bigger than others, but even attheir biggest, they're not that big.
Do you ever watch that show aboutthe customs, like they're coming through the
(56:52):
airport and stuff, the smuggling show, the one that where they go they
have where the New York Airport andthen the customs bordered along well Detroit and
Washington was International two. They hadsome in like Central America and South America
and yeah, some over there. It's crazy what they try to bring in
when it comes to like animals. They one dude he was he seemed like
he was a reli guying from likeBrooklyn, and they set him down the
(57:15):
chair and he had like parrots, giant exotic birds just duct taped to his
body and tubes. Dude, Itold you when I was at when I
was in the Bahamas, I wasleaving the Bahamas, and so when you
leave the Bahamas, this was theairport up on the was his name Escaping
(57:36):
Me, not Nassau, but whatever. But anyways, I'm trying. I'm
getting on the plane and it's justa short little hot plane to Miami and
the Miami to Row. But asI'm leading, they you go. You
have to go and kind of checkout with a Bahamian customs official and it's
this woman and it's all that, and she's super super nice and we're sitting
there and there was, for whateverreason, there was a little bit of
(57:59):
a delay where they didn't let youthen go straight because you have to like
re scan your bags when you're leavingbecause it's a big problem. And there's
these posters like don't try to smugglebirds and I and I couldn't help myself
because I'm naturally curious. I'm like, like, straight up, how often
does that happen? And she's likeyou apparently a lot. And they put
them in these like tubes and theytake them to their bodies and they and
(58:21):
they dose them. Yeah, theydo it a lot of the times.
The birds just don't survive because onthe show they were taking the birds out
of these tubes and they're just dead. Yeah, the dead parrot. But
they get enough through where it's youknow, where they make money on it.
Yeah, it's a crazy it's acrazy problem in the Caribbean and Central
and South America. I have bigproblems with the two, but not as
(58:42):
big in some countries as others.Dude, Ecuador, when you're the Galopa
goos, like like, if ifthere's one place you don't want to try
to smuggle away with a critter, that would be the Gallapagos. They're kind
of protective of everything there. Butyeah, she was telling me, and
she told me that she herself hadseen a guy who had what did they
(59:04):
have? They had like seventy birdsor something. It was not just one
dude. It was like these threedudes they busted. She said when she,
you know, years ago, whenshe started doing this, and it's
yeah, and she said that mostmany of them don't survive, but they
only need a few and it's likesuper worthy of Freeport. Thank you.
People are sending it to me becausemy brain's not working. Yeah, I
was in the airport and Freeport.I'm just getting on the plane to go.
(59:25):
I'd wanted some guys for a golfvacation and all that. So,
but yeah, she was very openabout it. I'm like, that is
horrible, but also it's it's verylucrative. Imagine sitting on a plane though
the entire plane ride, and you'resitting in your seat and you have like
two hundred pair its duct taped toyour body. Do you want sixteen lizards
(59:49):
in your in your bra? Imean what I give her credit, you
know in the sense that you knowthe most most women's reaction to a lizard
is not, hey, could youput that right on my skin? It's
kill it with fire, right,so uh yeah, all right, now
(01:00:14):
I've offended all women with a cups. That wasn't my intention, but it
is kind of like, and Imean this like this, you have to
if you're gonna be a smuggler,it has to kind of comport with your
body style to be believable, becausesome of these are ridiculous. To Ross's
point, where it's because they lookfor really baggy clothing is something that they're
(01:00:35):
looking for, especially in a warmweather environment, that tends to stand out
if you're you have a lot ofclothing or very baggy clothing, like they're
they're gonna look for stuff like that. But also, you know who I
need to get to smuggle the lizardsis the chick with the remote. Remember
that story Ross? Oh yeah, the morbidly obese woman who she was the
(01:00:59):
beginning of bag hanging or whatever. And she went to the doctor in Charlotte.
Yeah, was it in Charlotte andthen they were like, hey,
you've had a remote in your fatroles for like two years. Well I
don't think it was quite two years. It was pretty horrible, Yeah,
and it was it was because thatwoman smuggled a gun into the Chicago White
Sox game with in her fat roles. So like that's who you want if
(01:01:19):
you need to smuggle lizards, likebecause remember the way she got the gun
in is you found out is becauseeven though she the wand hit when the
guy, when the security guy lookedat it and it just it's just seen,
you know, skin and rolled overskin. He went, I made
eight bucks an hour. I'm notputting my hand in there. So just
(01:01:45):
something to think about, all right, seven forty six we got mister raced
Agrick back today. Huh, yes, sir, did you really need a
day off after that non game whichone well actually last night, this was
pretty strange course of events there.Yeah, but at least look, the
(01:02:06):
whole thing was just there's so muchstoryline there year it wasn't right. Yes,
dude, I've never been so boredwith a football game. I'm just
like, I am out man,I am out expect that. Yeah,
I mean, so what are theGiants? I mean you've got to ask
yourself that question. First. They'rea team that is mostly returned most of
(01:02:29):
the team and who went into tworounds into the playoffs last year. Right,
I mean they're not good, butthey're not They're not awful. So
no, they're not supposed to be. You know, did weather play a
factor? There was a lot ofrain around? And yeah, I'm trying
to take the kind of the middleof the road here because you've got to
look at the look at the offensivestats. And sure Pollard did well,
(01:02:51):
but Dak if you look at hisstats, it wasn't spectacular. He didn't
need to be. Though. Ipointed that. I pointed that out to
my body as a Cowboys fan. He's like, we won forty nothing and
shut your face. I see,I've been doing this for too long and
I know better not the hop onthat we're going to the super Bowl.
Because I'm getting texts and my brotherin law sends me a text, are
(01:03:12):
you are you? Are you gettingready for your super Bowl plans? And
I'm like, no, well youcan't Cowboys fan. You know, I
don't know if you guys know this. You have a bit of a rep
what's that? A little bit ofan ego? I mean, yeah,
no, no, no, Iknow you're not me. Yeah, I'm
probably one of the exceptions. Ijust you know, you expect to win
(01:03:34):
and you expect championships, not youknow, one one first round of the
playoffs and lose. So we've gotto get to the NFC Championship game in
order for me to be satisfied. And obviously you want to win a super
Bowl. But I haven't seen it'sgonna stop you Well, I don't know
Fran. You know, we'll seeSan Fran and the Eagles. I think,
ye that, I think, youknow, that's really concern lies.
But again, I don't know whatwe're good to go there. Yeah,
(01:03:57):
I wasn't gonna say anything, butyeah, I don't know a week the
San Fran game is, but Iknow they do play San Francisco Jets.
Defense looks okay next week against theJets. I mean, I don't know
how many points they're going to beable to score, but you know,
and again, oh gosh, what'shis name? He did enough, He
did enough to keep him in thegame, so he didn't make too many
(01:04:18):
mistakes. Anyway, Here, we'vegot changes coming for the better. Another
warm day today. Yesterday we didmake it to the low nineties in the
triangle. The Tryads stay in theeighties today, most of us mid upper
eighties. A little cloud. Otherthan that, more sunshine, especially later
today, and then the change willcome in tonight with some wet weather scattered
around tonight through tomorrow. The rainchances probably diminish a little early tomorrow,
(01:04:43):
then they come back in the afternoonmiddle eighties, and then after that Thursday
Friday spectacular even on into the weekendload of mid eighties for daytime highs.
There's a couple of days Thursday andFriday, some of us, especially west,
may not get out of the upperseventies with loads of the fifties.
You can turn the ac off, open up the windows, and enjoy it.
I'm gonna start getting a little roughout near the water though, if
you did have a late season beachtrip planned with Lee, that's gonna run
(01:05:08):
up parallel to the coast well outto see though. But the left edge
of the western edge of the hurricanecenter's cone does get into western New England
over the weekend. But I thinkdangerous rip currents and all the impacts coming
from the Atlantic Ocean and along thebeaches rather than inland at least through the
Mid Atlantic and further south, butnortheast New England, and maybe some direct
(01:05:28):
impacts from the western end, dependingon where the center goes. Okay,
all right, man, thank youvery much, appreciate it, and we'll
talk in an hour. All right, it's race staging from the Weather Channel.
Ross, what is the most Southernevent you've ever been to? You
know, like a like a pigpickin. You've been to a whole hog
roast, might maybe say a pumpkinchunkin pumpkin sho that's pretty good. But
(01:05:50):
have you been to a possum eaten? I have not, You've never.
Okay, that's apparently a thing, much to the horror of onlookers. All
Right, that story and this VirginiaCandida plus congress Congressman Senator Ted bud at
eight OHO five coming your way.Hang on one oh six one FM Talk
(01:06:18):
and ninety four five w PTI,two stations driving the best in talk.
This is Casey O Day and Carolina'sMorning News. All right, let's dive
into this the story that made RossBiel dirty and that many of you have
sent me because you are connoisseurs ofthe news. Apparently one of the Democratic
(01:06:41):
candidates for state Senate seat in Virginia, which is all super competitive. Obviously
Democrats are there's still a little shellshocked with all of the young kins stuff
and what happened there, So aton of money going into this ton of
money for these races, and oneof the candidates that's in a district that
with a very narrow divide is awoman by the name of Susannah Gibson,
(01:07:04):
and I think I think she actuallyis a nurse is her background. However,
some other stuff emerging. It wasthe Washington Post who wrote this story
first, so some other stuff emerged, and that is a side hustle.
The side hustling question is her andher husband are on one of those websites
(01:07:29):
doing adult stuff for money to catchmadrift. So it's not only fans,
but it's kind of if you knowwhat I mean. And and also ross
from your reading, it sounds likethey were also there was other ways for
people to participate than just give money. Was that your read on it too?
Yeah, I was very confused bythat because I didn't mean because they're
(01:07:53):
talking about the acts that were donefor money, and I'm not sure if
they were actually like physical acts orlike virtual where they did a front of
the one thing that's posted here.Sounds like they were saying that if somebody
donated enough, they could excellent right, right, So anyway. So this
this gets out there, very effectivefundraiser, judging by the donations they got
her husband, some lawyer there inthe area. This is I think it's
(01:08:15):
outside of Richmond where this is anyway, but yeah, yeah, this is
Look, it's it is what itis. I predicted that we would see
more of this as people as generationswhere there's more comfort in sending digital nudes
in themselves, except this is different. And so she made a statement which
is it's a lie. So sheactually, in response to the story which
(01:08:40):
got out there, said they I'mnot going to allow Republicans to intimidate me
or silence me. My political opponentsand the Republican allies have proven they're willing
to commit a sex crime to attackme. That's not a sex crime.
A sex crime would be if somebodyif you had sent photos to your husband
and you guys had a falling outand they were tended to be private photos,
(01:09:00):
and he posted them as revenge porn, which is you know what the
various laws are about, or somebodybroke into your house and you know,
got a hold of a digital camerathat had it, or you're on your
phone or whatever. Because those arenot intended to be released. You posted
videos for money, you and yourhusband doing this stuff for a live audience,
(01:09:21):
just like Ross Stream's video games. You streamed this. And while you
could argue a kitness a copyright violation, which I don't even think would hold
up, the Washington Post is nota Republican ally and this is not that
so I you know, voters willhave to figure it out. But yeah,
(01:09:43):
yeah, this is something totally Ican't even read most of this on
the air if he catched Madrid, but we'll tweet out the story, but
I wouldn't read it around people. All right, good morning everybody, and
(01:10:20):
welcome happy Tuesday for you. Howour number three casey Okay radio program?
And what is strange strange script it? Spin man? Oh? Just in
the news cycle over the last coupleof days, not to mention all of
the football horribleness we're all dealing with, except for Rays Page with the stupid
(01:10:41):
Cowboys, But that's not what we'rehere to talk about. We got we
got the same insanity continuing to rollout in Washington. North Carolina Senator Ted
Budd joining us to well, I'llhit a few of the high notes.
How you doing this morning? Sir, kay, I miss you. I'm
doing great. Hope you're doing well. I'm doing well too, except for,
like I just said, in theworld of NFL where the Vikings suck
(01:11:02):
Panthers are still rebuilding. Ross's Billslost yesterday, so it's very depressing around
graduate tragic. My app state lostto Carolina, so I know I'm never
happy. But you made a gameout of it though. Heck, yeah,
you ever done? Yeah? Thatwas that was great, didn't you
guys? At the beginning of theseason last year? Wasn't there or was
(01:11:23):
it? What was was it likefour overtimes or something. Wasn't there some
crazy game last year that I think? Yeah, I think I was campaigning
and uh was veried deep in somewhereelse in some other county. You're having
to watch your phone. You're like, no, no, no vote for
me. But hold on it.Oh man, all right, Well,
(01:11:45):
I'm just gonna dive into it too. I wish we'd just talked about football,
but Washington and Washington and I gottasay, here's where I gotta start.
I don't know, here's what Iwant to start my own country.
Maybe you can help me out withthis and just do deals with this administration
and clean up. Because whether we'retrading the Lord of War for NBA w
(01:12:06):
NBA players or five on five personnelplus six billion dollars, it seems anyone
striking deals with the US is doingpretty good right now. Yeah. So
to do a deal on nine toeleven with the largest state sponsor of terra
in the world, with Iran andgive them six billion dollars, yeah,
(01:12:27):
that's definitely saying, uh, youknow, sucker right here. But it's
amazing the weakness that the Biden administrationprojects. They've just done it so consistently,
whether it's at the border, whetherit's with Iran, whether it's with
China, or whether it's in youknow, two years ago, last month
in Afghanistan, which we're still reelingfrom, and it's all of that is
(01:12:49):
just cascaded downhill and just you know, the Biden administration looks like suckers to
the rest of the world. Whatis so in your position right whether it's
the Senate or that or the Housefor that matter, but your separate branch
of government is there. There's notreally anything you guys can do when it
comes to these because that's really afunction of that of the executive branch.
(01:13:12):
Right Well, the function right nowis to win in twenty twenty four.
Make sure we got great candidates andwe you know, I've been in the
majority, I've been in the minority. I'm now in the minority in the
Senate, and I want to bein the majority so that we can be
in charge. I want a Republicanpresident in the White House, you know,
so that we can begin writing thisship that you know, first of
(01:13:33):
all, it was decimated by Obamaand now we see the continuation of that
under Joe Biden and plus ni plusmixed with incompetence. I was gonna say,
but there were some bad deals theretoo. We're okay, and terrorists
for awall military individuals. So,and I think one of the things I
(01:13:54):
saw is that they want to there'sanother trade in the works, maybe with
Russia that would trade a Wall StreetJournal reporter, I saw speculation. Washington
Post did a story yesterday. Yeah, and I don't know. I don't
know, right, hit man afrigging Putin's top hit man, which obviously
he has others because everyone keeps fallingout windows around him. But what are
we doing? Yeah, it's it'samazing. So you definitely don't want to
(01:14:16):
be near any glass windows or anythinglike that around in the Putin administration.
Does he have anybody that works forhim that's not a hit man, But
I don't know what that you know, what the trade is going to be
offered for and how that's going tobe settled out. But again, just
shows you how oppressive he is thathe would put you know, a member
of the free press in prison whenhe doesn't like the opinions. That just
demonstrates weakness. And really, whenyou look at ge and China, when
(01:14:39):
you look at Putin in Russia, they have really isolated themselves, so their
decisions become more and more poor.Any of us that make great decisions,
you know, we were always workingin a team and making you sure to
check our own opinions. You've gotto operate with a certain amount of humility.
But they are operating in total isolation, and it doesn't bode well for
the future of those countries. No, when they're carting out the former president
(01:15:01):
at that meeting in China right kindof looking like it was against his will,
Like they're taking him to a farmup state. I mean, it's
it's easy to look at that stuff. And I don't want to say make
you know, morbid jokes about becauseit's very real when you realize that that
is what people deal with inside ofthis country that I think a lot of
(01:15:21):
people just go, oh, youknow, they're just a finance another big
financial partner out there and all ofthat. They spy on us. They
flew a balloon across us. Didyou see the reports of Chinese tourists outside
of military bases? They had likea hundred incidents and yeah, it's it's
it's happening all over. What thatis. I mean, they're trying little
incursions to test our security and they'rejust constantly messing with us. It's a
(01:15:43):
model that Russia's used, it's amodel that that that China's used, and
really they're poking at a weakness that'sbeen demonstrated since twenty twenty one and it's
it's it's tragic. Uh. Lookin the meantime, in the military,
I mean, we got up ourgame. I like our odds. But
at the same time, it's inspite of what Biden's doing rather than because
(01:16:04):
of Let's talk about a little bitof that and what's going on up in
Washington, specifically around there's two storiesI want to touch on. One over
in the House and then obviously inthe Senate with you, and it is
a heart it says here hardline, this is from the Hill, hardline House
(01:16:25):
Republicans itching for shutdown and impeachment fights. And then obviously there's the fiduciary concerns,
which are pretty standard in these standoffs. But there's also the threat of
some of your former House colleagues saying, look, if you don't agree to
go forward with impeachment hearings, thenyou're not going to get our votes.
So help me, help walk methrough this, even though this is the
(01:16:48):
other side of things for you, because obviously if they do hold hearings and
they do vote to impeach, thenit's your guys turn. What do you
understand the strategy to be in Houseas full of this standoff? The well,
I look at it. You knowabout five different things that are part
of the budget negotiations, and impeachmentis just one of them. I don't
(01:17:09):
think even I don't think even thefolks that are holding out and saying and
you know, shut down, usingit as a lever, are actually for
the shutdown we want to keep itopen. We want good government. That's
why people sent us to Washington,DC. But it's the content inside of
it. People are saying, Look, there's been over a thousand hundred Biden
emails to the VP administration when hewas in office. They're saying, there's
(01:17:30):
major ethical concerns. He's Biden's beenin office for fifty years. He's gotten
without any known outside businesses, He'sbecome massively wealthy. How did this happen.
We're starting to see some of theevidence of that of corruption, and
we need to address this. Imean, with hardly any evidence. You
know, when Trump asks the administrationto look into this, he gets impeached
(01:17:50):
for that. But now we're seeingthe other side of the issue, and
we're seeing real corruption inside the Bidenadministration. So that's one of the issues.
Were energy cost and more energy exploration, which the Biden administration is shutting
down. We're seeing inflation, We'reseeing the debt level issue, We're seeing
the border crisis. All those arecontents inside of a looming end of fiscal
(01:18:15):
year, which is September thirtieth,so twelve days away, and people have
different priorities there. I think they'reright on the issue, but we want
to do everything we can to givepeople good government that they sent us here
for and not shut it down. But again, you've got to hold the
line. You know, We've gotto keep things like Disaster Aid and Ukraine
funding. That needs to be separate. You don't want to keep government open
(01:18:38):
or closed as a result of that. That needs to be a separate deal.
So we can talk about that onits own. But it's coming at
us here in twelve days. Idon't know what the results are going to
be, but we need to treatour budget the same way that a small
business or a working family would treattheirs. And you know, if they
can balance the budget, I thinkthat you know their family's budget. I
(01:18:59):
think that we could as well asa government. You know, I'm gonna
have to. Actually, there's onething I kind of disagree with you on,
and you use the example that wouldhave been my defense. That's not
how a family. If a family, or if I'm putting my budget together,
or you are, or anybody elsein your real life, you don't
partition a big chunk of your specor a chunk of spending. Right,
So, if I'm gonna put mymonthly budget together and I have X number
(01:19:21):
of dollars to work with. Iwant to see everything that is going to
be an expenditure and to say,all right, I'm going to put a
budget together, but a whole separatething. I'll decide how much I spend
on, like let's say, youknow, going out to eat. I
can't separate that from the budget. So if if people are going to continue
to want to send money to Ukraineor whatever the thing is where people have
(01:19:43):
objections, if it's an expenditure, shouldn't it be part of the budget discussion?
In total? Yes? But shouldshould that be part of the shutdown
issue? I don't think so.I mean, look, we've got a
lot of issues you know that indealing with Ukraine separately, So I think
we need to look at it.Accountability for the American people. There's a
big push to make sure that there'stransparency where our weapons, where our money
(01:20:04):
going. I am very aware thatShannah and Russia are watching to see how
we handle ourselves there, and Ithink we need to be strong, which
to Biden, the administration again hasnot been There's been a lot of equivocation.
I think we need to see Europestep up. I think there's some
good things that we're learning for kindof a new battlefield that we didn't learn
(01:20:28):
in Iraq and Afghanistan that we arelearning in this new world. But I
think we've got to be very careful, and so I don't think that this
discussion needs to be part of whathappens in the next twelve days. I
don't think we would ever fully impeachanybody ever again, would you agree with
that? I'm not talking about theHouse doing their thing, because I think
that's been ramped up to the pointwhere we'll see a lot more of that
(01:20:49):
because now there's a you know, you got to get your opponents back kind
of mindset for a lot of people. But I just I don't know if
we'll ever find a situation and shortof like, I don't know a bunch
of bodies emerging in their private residenceof a president not just getting the House
treatment, but the Senate actually votingwith the total number of votes needed to
(01:21:11):
impeach. So is this exercise doesit need to change? I mean,
because people don't feel that there isaccountability here with all of the smoke that
you're seeing with Biden, versus whatthey did get Trump for man, Well,
they're short term and long term, long term being next year a little
over a year away, and that'sNovember twenty twenty four. Let's make sure
we've got good, secure elections thatRepublicans and conservative and independence. By the
(01:21:36):
way, my election last year,I really made sure that I reached out
to the independence those they're they're notreally brought into one party or the other.
They just want good government. Theywant, you know, fiscal responsibility
and strong defense, like hey,I'm your guy. And again, we
got to have people turn out allacross North Carolina and the other forty nine
(01:21:58):
states to make sure that from thetop down we get good leadership because you
see what happens when things go sideways, and that's what Biden administration is showing
now. In the short term, impeachment takes two hundred and eighteen out of
the four hundred and thirty five votesin the House. There's an issue with
a very slim majority that Kevin McCarthyhas, maybe he can get an impeachment
across. But let's look at whathas to happen, because remember that's just
(01:22:20):
bringing up the charges. That's allimpeachment is, and people kind of think
about, you know, you kicka president out with impeachment. No,
you just bring charges with impeachment, and the House does that, then it
moves over to a trial, ifwe remember, over in the Senate,
and takes two thirds over there. So it's sixty six and it's going to
be really hard with a forty nineRepublican to make that happen and fifty one
(01:22:42):
Democrats. So I don't see themath working out in total for a removal
of a president. Maybe McCarthy canget together an impeachment. I think there's
real, real concerns with the ethicsof the Biden administration. And plus just
on top of that, just tonedeafness and eliteness that we're just seeing all
over the it's out of touch withthe American people, regardless of their party.
All right, let's and this thisruns the gamut from a party standpoint,
(01:23:08):
from the president during night night timeon the on the stage they're at
Vietnam, which is just the latestof concerns. Mitch McConnell obviously has had
a couple incidents where he has frozenup that have been in the news.
John Fetterman's concerns Nancy Pelosi says she'srunning for re election. Do you do
(01:23:28):
you think that there needs to bean age limit or a competency test.
Everybody seems to have a different opinion. Where are you at on this?
Because obviously people are concerned across thepolitical spectrum. Yeah, you know,
this is something we've been dealing withfor decades, if not hundreds of years
in this country. It's just nowit's on social media. Now, it's
you know, on new media,it's all over. People are concerned about
it. But I think the peopleback home in the Home States need to
(01:23:51):
make the decision. And I thinkthe candidates need to make the decision.
If they don't like it, theycan certainly kick them out if they're certainly
not apple, and they can leaveoffice and the governor of the state would
appoint somebody of the same party. So there's all kinds of solutions that are
built into the constitution for this. And yeah, I think these these candidates
(01:24:11):
need to be the deciding factor, and then ultimately it's the people deciding whether
they'll accept it or not. Youknow, are they getting older when it
comes to leader McConnell, I thinkthirty seconds every now and then of pausing,
you know, is a concern, but nothing compared to two and a
half years of incompetence from the WhiteHouse. That's my main concern right now
(01:24:36):
is the leadership of Joe Biden orlack of for the last two and a
half years. All right, Andthen let's so regard let's say, because
the math works out based on yourage and McConnell's age, whether it's this
or something else, and the reelectionrate of sitting senators, the chances are
you will find yourself in a positionto have to figure out, along with
(01:24:57):
your colleagues, who's going to berunning things on your I once McConnell's gone
again for whatever reason. Yeah, yeah, well, and before we get
to that, but here's what Iwant to ask. And this is a
Daily Caller article where they spoke tono less than five of your colleagues in
this article anonymously, I would pointout, with the exception of one,
(01:25:18):
so take it for what it is. And they said, the race to
replace McConnell will be rigged. Andthey said, basically because of the amount
of money that the Minority leader,Mitch McConnell has available to help his Republican
colleagues. Come election, you haveto be very you're walking on egg shells.
You need to fall in line oryou could be financially punished. And
(01:25:40):
they say that once he's gone, likely it will be one of the John's.
All right, so John Thune,John Barrasso, I saw his name
in there from Wyoming. Uh,And I'm there's one other Cornyan, John
Cornyn, and that if people wantto challenge any of the kind of hand
selected fillins, it's not going togo well for m Do you feel that
(01:26:00):
that's the atmosphere you I would havethought that until January. Actually, excuse
me. It was December. AfterI was elected last year, and before
I was sworn in, we hadleadership elections, and you know, there
was a challenger that was whipping votes. And then what you see afterwards is
(01:26:23):
after a tense a few days,then all of a sudden, everybody's back
to business. So nobody's punished. We all worked together as Republicans, so
it's not all always hunky dory,But I'm saying people do work together for
the Republican conservative views, and thatyou know that doesn't make good press,
(01:26:43):
right, because they like red onred, they like Republicans fighting each other.
But I'm not seeing it like alot of the press is seeing it.
People work together, even though weall have different flavors of you know,
where we are on the spectrum ofbeing conservative. Okay, well,
and I don't just think it's aRepublican thing. I think Nancy Pelosi famously
published she punished people, and we'vethe money, the money. They fear
(01:27:08):
her, they fear her, andI don't see that on this side.
I see respect, appreciation for somebodythat can raise money and help somebody,
But I see in practice somebody supportingcandidates that can win but need help to
do it, rather than this vindictivenessthat you see on the left. Senator,
I'm gonna have to leave it there. I almost called you Cargressman,
(01:27:28):
but you've got a promotion. SoSenator Ted Bud, thanks for the time.
We'll talk here soon. Okay,Thanks Katy, all right, and
we will be right back, Sohang on, keeping you connected. This
is ninety four five WUPTI in theTriad and one oh six one FM Talk
(01:27:49):
in the Triangle. All right, welcome back. It is the OA Neo
program phone number eight eight eight ninethree four seven eight seventy four. All
(01:28:11):
right, go ahead and get intothis. I don't know who thought this
was a good idea. Somebody youjust oh, you know what, ros
I just realized I forgot to dosomething. We in the audio do we
have the twin tower mattress had?Right? You remember the one I'm talking
about where the mattress? What?Yeah? All right, sorry, I
(01:28:35):
just realized I thought of this earlier, and then I was was concentrating on
what I was going to talk tothe senator about, and then I didn't
grab it. So, but youknow, so I yesterday, yesterday the
folks over Draft Kings. Yeah, online sports betting, online sports betting,
(01:28:58):
they posted a parlay or you don'tknow what a parlay is. A parlay
is a much more lucrative bet,but a much more dangerous bet. So
it's like, if you just wantedto bet on last night's Jets game,
Okay, you could. You couldgo bet the game a couple of different
ways. You could bet depending onwhat the spread is. You could bet
(01:29:19):
the money line, or you couldbet using with the points. Right,
So if if you have one teamthat was favored by six points, you
could you could bet that team andif they're favored by six, they have
to win by more than six oryour bet to pay off. Or you
could bet money line, and thenthe amount that you bet versus the amount
(01:29:41):
that you win will change. Soif that same team is favored by six,
but you want to money line betthem, I'm giving you an education
here, which I'm sure many ofyou know but some don't. If you
want to bet them money line,it's going to cost you more money to
bet them. So to win onehundred dollars if they are favored by you
know, a few points, you'llhave to risk hundreds and hundreds of dollars
(01:30:06):
because it's more of a surer thing, but it's not always a sure thing.
So when you lose, you reallylose. And then there's a parlay,
and a parlay on a smaller betcan get you big returns, but
it's it's very dangerous because you're countingnot just on one bet. And I
won't even get to the complications ofover unders and all that, but let's
(01:30:28):
just say there's three games you wantto bet. You pick the three teams
you think are gonna win, andthen you can go ahead and bet a
parlay and you'll get expansive numbers. So if a team was gonna win by
they needed to win by six, then if you were to bet that team,
they may only have to win bytwo. But you have to hit
(01:30:49):
all three of the bets to winthe bet the main bet. Does that
make sense? Okay? And somepeople think they're suckers bets because they look
really cool, like you can geta bunch of you know, you pick
a bunch of dogs who may lose, but you'll still win because they get
a crap ton of points. Butthat's for you to decide. So when
(01:31:13):
you put those together, what someof these betting sites will do is they'll
suggest parlays and you don't even haveto think about it. You can just
click on it, man and wageryour money. And the parlays could be
all right, all teams from Florida, right, and then there'll be three
third but again you have to winall of them. So at one of
the parlays the Draft Kings posted wasthe never forget nine to eleven parlay.
(01:31:39):
We've talked about this. Never thisis not a good idea. I understand.
People go, hey, you getMemorial Day, they got mattress sales
and all this, and you couldargue that that's disrespect, but it's just
it's a too soon situation. It'slike a like a June teenth parlay.
I don't believe that would go overwell. So with nine to eleven,
(01:32:01):
Draft Kings said, if you wantto bet for the Mets to win,
the Yankees to win, and theJets to win, click this button and
you can bet. But the factthat it was a nine obviously New York
teams, the fact that it wasa nine to eleven parlay, A lot
of people got really upset about that. Plus you wouldn't have won. The
Jets did win, but the Metsloss and the Yankees Boston game, I
(01:32:24):
think they had to that's today right, they had a postponent, but it
won't matter because the Mets lost.I did look it up, but yeah,
the Draft Kings has now apologized thestatement sent to the Boston Globe.
Here, we sincerely apologize for thefeatured parlay that was shared in commemoration of
nine to eleven. We respect thesignificance of this the day of our country,
(01:32:46):
and especially for the families of thosewho were directly affected. Yeah,
Ross, would you see what theloading date on that nine to eleven.
AD was trying to remember how soonthey pulled this. So there was years
ago a mattress store. I rememberwhere we loaded at twenty sixties, so
(01:33:10):
it's from well before that. I'mjust pointing out it's much closer. So
some local mattress retailer filmed a commercial. Post to think about how many people
had to be involved in this, not just the idiots in the ads,
not just whoever within the company thoughtthis was a good idea, but also
you had to get somebody to filmand produce this, and likely you had
(01:33:31):
to you had to deal with somebodyto place it on local media, right
you had to go through a salesrep of one of the local TV stations,
and then somebody had to load itin at the TV station and schedule
it into the log And like allof these people looked at this and went,
yeah, that, I'm sure nobodywill have a problem for that with
this commercial here, what better wayto remember nine eleven than with a twin
(01:33:54):
tower sale? Right now, youcan get any five mattress or its win
price. Okay, all right,so what better way to remember nine to
eleven? I don't know. Icould think of a few could if I
had to make a list, Icould come up with some. But what
you have to know is this womanstanding between these two towers of mattresses,
so you got like on each sideof her, there's like fifteen mattresses staffed
(01:34:15):
one on top of the other. That's important because she's got some other people
that are going to some other colleaguesin this commercial that are going to make
their appearance. What better way toremember nine eleven than with the twin towers
sell right now. You can getany size mattress for it, twin price,
full mattress, win Price, TweenMattress, twin Price, King Mattress,
swin Price, store lightself all daylong, all right. So what
(01:34:38):
you're hearing then is these people fakefalling into the towers of mattresses and knocking
them down. And I want youto listen to the change in her voice
inflection. We'll never forget so bad, it's so awful. I I just
(01:35:00):
remember as I was listening to it, the way she changes her voice at
the end, like she didn't justparticipate in a goofball commercial pretending to knock
over twin mattress towers with with withher idiot colleagues, and then she wants
to make it a solemn ending. What better way to remember nine eleven than
(01:35:21):
with a twin tower sale. Rightnow, you can get any size mattress
for it, twin price, fullmattress, win price, tween mattress,
twin price, King mattress, twinprice. Sore myself all day long.
We'll never forget. Oh, dudeand Rods. You've seen the video on
(01:35:43):
that too, right, it's justthe worst. It's I'm laughing because not
because it's other than their own stupidity. Do I find a lot of humor
in that. It's it's and itwas much closer, much close to the
actual event, and everyone there, from the filmer to the editor, to
(01:36:04):
the people taking part, to theTV station word air to everyone went,
nah, it's gonna be fine.Nobody'll have a problem with this. It
was like that educational video game companywhere they produced the Tetris knockoff to teach
kids about slave ships. But allthe pieces were contorted slave bodies, which
(01:36:26):
is an actual thing that happened. And how many people are involved in the
production of a video game. It'snot just one dude, right, So
I don't know, but I thinkthe only thing that they could compete with
that was recently. Remember it wason Holocaust Remembrance Day the end that factory
in the UK to turn. Ithink the color was purple for it.
(01:36:48):
So the smoke stack of their factoryturned purple. Yeah, oh my god,
what are you doing? Yeah, they were charting out them. Yeah,
and I'll let you figure out thereference there. But yeah, the
Draft Kings decided to step in inthere. You go, all right,
Raced Agick from the Weather Channel.I'm telling you, man, people's brains
(01:37:09):
just take vacation sometimes. It's justwhat's crazy at when like twenty But you
know, you work in this industry. To produce a TV commercial for a
local business, it's not just oneperson, it's everyone in the commercial,
everyone in the business, the fit. You got to get a crew to
film. It's sometimes the TV stationwill do it for you because you're buying
time from him and there that's awhole team. Then everyone back at editing
(01:37:30):
and the seller and like everybody justwent not, that's gonna be fine.
Yeah, so awful. They workout well. I don't know if they're
still in business, but Draft Kingsputting together on nine to eleven parlay on
New York teams yesterday. Yeah,it's not going well for them. No,
definitely not. I'd seen some falserumors going. People are already playing
(01:37:53):
around with number twelve in Green.Oh no, yeah, yeah, the
goat. Can you imagine? Younever know? I just just stop it,
that's all I gotta say. Iknow that'd be crazy what I did.
He was at the he was atthe Philly game. I was sitting
(01:38:15):
up there with Kraft, but theywere doing something, and he came down
and he had his jersey on,not his pads, but his old jersey
for the little commemoration at halftime. And I'm just thinking, you know,
you might want to put that, dude in because yeah, but then Jones
almost got it done, but hedidn't. So now but he didn't then
even you know, and if it'sagainst one of the top three teams in
(01:38:40):
the NFL, then yep, youdid okay, but there still a lot
of work. Do you want toI dude, I don't. I don't
think you want to take the fieldas a quarterback for the Jets. That's
like, that's like somebody getting inPutin's face over in Russia. It's just
I can't even imagine though, theemotion because I don't know if you did.
You see the pregame, and Inever seen or heard that many people
sing the national anthem in a stadium. I mean it was loud and it
(01:39:05):
was that was great. And thenthe emotion with him coming in and then
him getting hurt. Everybody's just kindof like uh. And then the jets
tying it, and then the windand over there. It was crazy.
Yeah, you're all right, realquick. On the weather, it just
looks yeah, dry today, stillwarm in the eighties. We'll cool off
towards the end of the week.A little wet weather tonight and tomorrow it
(01:39:27):
is going to be absolutely beautiful,Casey. Great golf weather late weekend of
the weekend. Highs may only benear eighty for a few days. Lows
very pleasant in the fifties. Allright, about time, sir, About
time. All right, thank you, and Jeff Bellinger joins us next hang
on show. After the show,he's on the iHeart Radio app. Search
(01:39:55):
for the podcast on the iHeart Radioapp. Alright, eight fifty Bloomberg yet
Bellinger, what's happening? Well,good morning, Casey. A stock's ended
higher yesterday but Oracle could be adrag on the text. Today, Oracle's
cloud sales were up thirty percent inthe latest quarter that still fell short of
estimates. The software makers shares felland after hours trading and the futures are
(01:40:19):
slightly lower this morning. Now futuresare down forty six. Apple introduces the
new iPhones and other new products atits wonder Lusts event later today that begins
at one pm Eastern Time. Truestfinancial planning around of layoffs and announcing the
job cut. CEO William Rodgers didnot specify a number. He said though
(01:40:41):
that it will be sizeable. Optimismamong the nation's small business owners faded just
a bit last month. The OptimismIndex from the National Federation of Independent Business
slipped a little more than half apoint. Internet shoppers getting some relief from
inflation. Adobe reports the prices ofgood sold online or continuing a steady decline.
Prices last month were down a littlemore than three percent from August of
(01:41:04):
last year. That was the twelfthstraight year over year decline and the biggest
in April of twenty twenty. Homeshoppers finding a few more homes on the
market. Zillo says the drought ofnew listings eased slightly last month, giving
buyers more choices. Another housing report, this one from redfinn says landlords are
(01:41:24):
charging near record rents, but they'restarting to offer concession, such as three
months in some markets. And Casey, Charter Communications and Walt Disney settled their
differences. A new carriage deal betweenthe two companies restored Disney owned channels to
Charters Cable Systems. ESPN was backjust in time from Monday Night football.
(01:41:45):
Under this new deal, Charter isgoing to be able to offer the Disney
Plus streaming service to customers at noadditional cost. Casey, Obviously, you
guys are up out of New Yorkwith Limburgh there. I'm assuming some of
your co workers are probably not havinga good day. Jets fans, Oh
probably not. Yeah, I know, I know they were beaten, but
I know they were beaten by byBuffalo last night. No they won,
(01:42:08):
No, they were Buffalo was beaten. Yeah, Buffalo. Okay, then
they should be having a good day. No, the Aaron Rodgers got first
play. Yeah he's done. Yeah, you guys, they're cursed, man,
They're cursed. Poor Jets fans. All right, thank you, Okay,
take care of right there you go, Jeff Palinger, Poor Ross got
his hopes up. Maybe there wasa mistake, but now Bloomberg has the
(01:42:31):
news. No, unfortunately went theother way. All right. We were
talking about you know, you hearthese terms for things like, I don't
say they're just Southern because I don'tknow, I will call it a more
rednecky thing, uh, because wedo this, we do this crap out
west too. But you know, like there's certain terms the pig pick hids
kind of that's a Southern thing. But you know, these little cutesy terms
(01:42:55):
are you know, going mudding?Right? You hear these You hear these
terms, and you think, countright, how about a possum yeat?
Doesn't that sound like the most southerncountry thing you've ever heard of? Well,
it actually happened in the Southern hemisphereand it horrified zoo goers. According
to officials at the zoo in Perth, Australia, A one of the orangutangs
(01:43:20):
uh and so the Orangutang enclosure.Obviously they have elevated positions, they got
trees, but they also have thisgiant tower built right in the middle of
this thing. This giant observation towerlike the tower from Lord of the Rings
or whatever for them. And that'simportant because because it is an open enclosure,
(01:43:40):
albeit a one with elevation, sometimesother critters get in there, like
that that time where this guy wasat the zoo and a lynx was like
eating a squirrel and he's all horrifiedin front of his kids. In this
case, there was a possum inthere, and according to people at the
zoo, they noticed the awesome tryingto climb the tall metal tower to get
(01:44:01):
away from the orangutang. Well,I guess the possum didn't realize the orangutangs
can climb pretty good, and initiallythe orangutang was trying to hit it with
a stick, but eventually as itwent up the tower ascended to the top,
it got ahold of the possum andyeated it, or if you don't
know the word, yeat threw itlike a football and literally threw it from
(01:44:25):
one orangutang enclosure, over another enclosure, and into a third one, where
it was picked off by sauce guard. Now I'm kidding no where. Obviously
it didn't end well for the possumand everyone's screaming, well it's going on
because that's not what they came tothe zoo to watch, you know what
I'm saying, But a possum yeatman And they're like, dude, how
(01:44:51):
it messed up? Is Australia thatnot only are all the native animals going
to kill you, but like eventhe imported ones are violent, know what
I'm saying. You know, inNorth Carolina we gingerly lowered one in a
box a few times. I waslost their mark when they freaked out over
the possum drop, which they didwasn't a drop, it was like it
(01:45:12):
was like a slow elevator down andthen they let it run into the woods.
The orangutane threw this thing like hewas throwing a deep ball to digs
Man. So yeah, when there'sa video, but there you go.
The possum yeat a new tradition inAustralia, I guess among the orangutans.
(01:45:32):
All Right, we gotta roll seetomorrow
