Speaker 1 (00:00):
Our friendship Maxwell, long time KFAB contributor and a very
politically active, thoughtful, intelligent guy. Chip. Good morning, how's it
going well?

Speaker 2 (00:10):
I hope I can reach the meet very much. Hey,
can I have one quick point of personal privilege and
we can get the business had I've finally reordered and
stabilized my life after your earthquake announcement recently. I just
want to make one quick observation. Gary. I thought you
were nuts back in two thousand and nine when you

(00:33):
said a Saturday morning six am show could be a success,
but you were right, and with your coaching, I was
able to make it sound like I knew what I
was doing hosting a talk radio show. In fact, I
came to enjoy it so much. I even did that
show the morning of my dad's funeral. Yes and so,

(00:53):
but thank you for that experience. Is one of the
great experiences of my life. And there have been legends
over the years at KVD, but Geary, you will always
be the gold standard.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Wow, you're very kind. Thank you, Chip, I appreciate that well.
I called hip ladies and gentlemen. I called Chip because
I'm in receipt of a dispatch from Chip. The subject
line of which has turned the blue dot red. And
we know about the situation in Nebraska District too, dominated

(01:25):
by Omaha, which is indelibly blue. The district as a
whole chip, I think it's fair to say, is purple.
What is what is your main idea or your top
two or three ideas for making a change here in
how this district votes in presidential elections.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yeah, here's what I'm looking at. So I see Republicans
constantly looking at redistricting and to make Nebraska winner take
all state. And I support those political moves. But what
about the elephant in the room. Since we're talking about Republicans,
what about the big problem is we're losing ground, especially

(02:02):
with younger generations. Say what about going on offense and
doing what I think Charlie Kirk did. What he proved that,
you know, younger people are willing to hear a strong
argument that says, you know, those ideas that the left
is telling you are old and outdated, they're actually timeless, eternal,

(02:26):
ever fresh. You know, Western civilization, natural law of four
thousand years of today, Christian teaching, these are actually the
best building clocks of life for individuals and for societies
and I just think I think we got to go
on offense on the right and go right for it.
And you know, it doesn't matter how we draw the
district boundaries if we've got everybody on board or at

(02:48):
least a majority. And plus what for me, Gary, A
real wake up call was the Omaha mayoral race this year.
And I know some Republican leaders said, oh, that nothing
to do with the blue dot. I vehemently disagree. I
think it has everything to do. I think the blue
dot has taken on a life of its own. Yeah,

(03:09):
and instead of trying to work around it or pretend
it isn't there, I think we've got to go after it.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
A couple of things here, Chip, but number one, yes,
I don't disagree with any of that. But it is
certainly worth noting that Don Bacon, the Republican, has slapped
down challenger after challenger after challenger, and he gets the
penalty for him for doing that, as being called rhino

(03:34):
by the hard right. But is that you would like
you would like folks who are more conservative than Bacon
to be able to win too.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Right, Well, let me preface it by saying Don and
I became friends in that twenty sixteen campaign and remain so.
I've had him on the radio numerous times, hosted a
town hall for him. But yes, he is more moderate. Well,
he's won awards. I'm Capitol Hill for bipartisanship and so forth,

(04:04):
so I think both things can be true. I don't
dispute Don Bacon has said you've got to be purple,
and that is conventional wisdom. That's why I'm saying I'm
not looking for another campaign. I want to change the
environment in the second district so that more conservative candidates
can run as favorites, not as underdogs. That's the whole reason.

(04:25):
I want to try to win some hearts and minds
and change the environment on the ground so it's better
truly read candidates.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Here's the challenge, Chip, and this is happening all over
the country, and I'm sure you're aware of it. What
you have is a flight to the suburbs by conservatives.
And they are flying to the suburbs because it's obvious
that city administration in big cities is overrun with liberals.
Liberal policies, soft on crime policies, defund police. So the

(04:55):
best example of that is the Twin Cities of Minnesota.
People are leaving men by droves, but they're not leaving
the Metro. They're just going to Apple Valley, any Dina
and Burnsville and Jacovia and all these other places. And
they're doing it because they have their own police chiefs,
their own city councils, their own mayors. We're balkanizing our

(05:15):
country politically, and until we convince people who want to
live in inner cities that it's better to run their
own lives than to have the government run their lives,
it's just a flight to the edges.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
How do you stop that?

Speaker 2 (05:30):
It is happening. You're right. I have relatives and friends
in the Twin Cities. My wife went to Saint Thomas,
actually at Saint Paul, and has lived them there for
a while. So you're exactly right about that. Here's how
I see that class half full, Rosie, is that because
the Democratic Party has lurched so far to the left
on a variety of issues, I think there is an

(05:51):
opportunity now to win some hearts and minds and shift
the center of gravity to the right. I mean, where
else are reasonable voters going to go see? I believe
if Trump were on the ballot here locally, in twenty
twenty six. I think he'd win, even though he hasn't
the last two times. So why do you think the
dilemma that you described? Oh sorry, go ahead, Why do

(06:13):
you think that?

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Why do you think he'd win?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Because I think now people have looked and seen wow,
first of all his policies winning winning, and I think
people appreciate the pushback on men in women's sports and
women's spaces and so forth. But that's why I think
there's an opportunity now that maybe didn't exist, certainly not

(06:37):
ten years ago, and maybe even not two or four
years ago, where people are willing to take another look.
I think that's why Charlie Kirk got such great traction
with young people. They're thinking, wait a minute, they're ready
to have someone to bring the truth to him and
embrace it.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Right, we have to run here, Jeff. But so what
is your closing here? What is your of what you
want to do? Are you looking for focus groups meetings
among conservatives to plan a strategy or what?

Speaker 2 (07:08):
I well, it's kind of ready fire, aim. You know.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
This is me?

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Uh, think of what I've done and I've written a
couple of books. Fix it Now, Chip dot Com is
where you can go if you want to get the books.
I've got a short video that you saw that that
prompted you. If you go to YouTube and type in
the same thing, fix it now chip dot com. I'll
give you a little summary of what I want to do.
But I'm hoping that these books are sort of like manuals,
like healthy guys, helpful guys. I run into people Gary

(07:35):
who say, yeah, I know you're right, but gee, here
we come into the holidays and I get into conversations
with relatives and friends and they're just bashing me. I
haven't researched this stuff. I'm busy working then, living my
life and raising my kids. I don't know the history.
I don't know the ins and outs. Well, let me
run interference for you. Let me be your lead blocker.
You know here, why don't you take to read this

(07:56):
book and let's talk about it.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Cool. Let's say, let's you to give you a resource. Yeah,
let's say in touch on us. I love the uh.
You know, of course that the the tds craw the
real blue ballers. They want nothing to do blue with
with any repose. But but that being said, that leaves
a lot of other folks who are not crazy. Chef Maxwell,
thank you so much. Are Blue blues, Blue daughters now

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
