Bar and Grill ninety seventh and Giles will see you
tomorrow night. We'll get a bunch of tickets and we
welcome on now the star of the new film Mi
Racist from the Daily Wire, Matt Walsh. Welcome to eleven

(00:54):
to ten kfab.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Hey, thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
I was so happy when I saw the trailer for
this several weeks ago, because this is something that absolutely
needed to happen. I've been trying to figure out for years.
Like it does the conversation just start like, well, am
I racist? Yes? You are? Well I don't think I am,
Well you are, and then that's the end of the conversation.

(01:21):
Is that how the ball got rolling on this for
you to make this movie?

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Uh? Yeah, well that's h and that's that's the way
they have it set up that they tell you that,
you know, well, if you're white specifically, then you're automatically racist.
And they give you a whole list of things that
you should do and doctrines that you should affirm and
all of that in acknowledgment of your racism. But then

(01:48):
you find at the end of it that you're still
just as racist. At the end of it, like there's
according to the DEI people, there's there's just no way
out of it. So it's to lose lose, right, It's
just like this doom spiral they want to put you in.
And so that was the idea of the movie, is
to kind of explore that, and really it's like, Okay,
well of course I'm called racist. I'm called all these

(02:11):
things all the time by the left because this is
not because I in that, but just because that is
their reflexive response to anyone who challenges their worldview. And
in real life, when I'm called these names, I don't care.
It doesn't mean anything to me. It rolls off my back.
I ignore it. But we decided in this movie, like, Okay,
what happens if I play sort of a version of
myself that takes these accusations seriously? And what if I

(02:37):
really didn't embark on a mission to confront my whiteness
and my racism? Would where would that take me? And
that's what we try to show in the film.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Yeah, it's the same thing. Rather than in a confrontational
way saying well I think you're wrong and here's why. Now,
you can be a friendly ear, you can be a
guy with a man bun, which is who you are here.
You're a DEI trainee in this one and you're trying
to learn, but rather than a confrontational way, instead you

(03:07):
just keep asking the questions what about this? What about that?
And you revealed there there really is no answer, and
it all comes down to the same conclusion, and that is,
as you said, if you're a white person, you're racist.
You're inherently racist. So this is I mean, it's a
it looks like kind of a hidden camera thing, but
the way that the cameras are set up, these aren't

(03:30):
all hidden cameras. I mean, someone agreed that they would
be following you on your journey, journey not knowing who
you are and trying to figure out, you know, how
we can be a better society. So how did you
get the other people, the actors, so to speak, to
agree to sign off to be reflected in this movie.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Yeah, there's no hidden cameras at all in the whole movie.
These are everybody in the movie agreed to be on camera.
But they're also not actors. Is that none of it
is scripted. These are all real people, and it is
you know, it's still I think technically qualifies as a
documentary very much though, because we are now we're using

(04:13):
you know, we're using an unconventional method for a documentary,
and we're using humor and entertainment a comedy in a
way that documentaries usually don't. But we're exposing something real
in society and we are trying to you know, investigate
a very real issue, and we decided that this is

(04:33):
the best way to do it. Both both both are
the entertainment factor, but also because you know, we're dealing
with someone who calls themselves an anti racist educator, let's say, uh,
they're going to tend to be They're they're going to
close up if they suspect that you're challenging them in
any way. And so we said, well, how can we
approach this so that we can get these people to

(04:54):
open up and be honest about what they really think
and what their agenda really is. And the best way
to do that is for me to kind of play
a character who is who agrees with them, to kind
of create this safe space as they would call it.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Talking here for a couple more minutes with Matt Walsh
of The Daily Wire and the new film Am I Racist?
Which debuts this weekend. I'm guessing that your team of
attorneys there at the Daily Wire probably heard from an
army of people who are depicted in this film who said,
I don't agree, I don't consent anymore to be in
this movie. Get me out of here, like sorry, you

(05:33):
sign the form right.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Yeah, I can't speak to what the lawyers have done,
who they've talked to, but I will say that that,
you know, we've twit. The trailer for the film came
out a few weeks ago, and as far as I know,
none of the people who appear in the film have
spoken out publicly or or you know, said anything publicly,

(05:57):
which is interesting, and maybe they will, you know, I
would expect that at some point they will, But I
also think that there's not a lot they can say
because listen, we didn't we didn't the words in their mouth.
We didn't deceptively edit anything. We didn't try to piece
it together to make it sound like they were saying
things they didn't really say. Everything they say in the
film is what they believe and they said it, and

(06:18):
everything they do in the film is what they do
in it, and it reflects their agenda and their ideology.
So there's not a lot that they can say. It's like,
it is what it is. It's there and they said it,
and that's all.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
You guys have done a couple of other films, What
Is a Woman and Lady Ballers. You were involved in
that too. This is the first theatrically released film by
The Daily Wire. What else do you want to do, Matt.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Well, I'd love to keep making films. You know, what
Is a Woman was the first movie that I've been
involved in making, and this one being the second. And
I prior to that, it was just kind of podcasting
and doing the Daily podcast, which I still do. But
and there's a lot of value in that, I think.
But I discovered making the movies that there's a this

(07:07):
is a very powerful way using narrative, using entertainment, using
humor to get a message across. It's a very powerful
delivery mechanism for your message, and I want to keep
doing it.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Can't wait to see it this weekend. It's released this weekend.
We've got our event next Wednesday. I'll give more details
about that in a second. But Matt Walsh of the
Daily Wire and the Matt Walsh Podcast, Am I Racist?
Is the new movie? Matt? Can't wait to see it.
Thanks a lot for taking the time for us here
this morning.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Thank you appreciate it.
