Hey, welcome to the Lori deYoung Show podcast. If you missed our
show today, we're sorry about that, but here are some highlights for you.
Be sure to catch it tomorrow everyweekday morning from five till ten,
or on the iHeartRadio app. Today'sBest Country ninety three point one w POC
Baltimore Now Top stories at the topof the hour. We had a pretty

(00:21):
hot day yesterday. We actually tiedthe record high of ninety degrees, so
if you're keeping score, we seta record earlier this week and tied one
yesterday. It's been a warm weekaround Baltimore. You are going to feel
little bit of a shift today though, more clouds around today with a high
of seventy six. The weekend isshaping up to be cooler and wet.
We've got a chance of showers tomorrow, that chance increasing later in the day,
and a high of sixty four forSaturday. Sunday, we got some

(00:43):
thunderstorms and showers in the forecast ofthe high around sixty nine. If you
take a look at the extended forecastright now. It's going to warm up
when we get back to Monday, but we are looking at a chance of
showers and thunderstorms pretty much through Thursdayof next week. At this point,
here's a wild story. Another whistleblowerand the ongoing problems with Boeing is dead.
Joshua Dean, a former quality auditorat a major Boeing supplier, died
yesterday after being diagnosed with a bacterialinfection. Dean was one of the first

(01:07):
people to come forward with warnings aboutpotentially dangerous defects in the Boeing seven thirty
seven Max jets. Dean is thesecond whistleblower on quality control issues at Boeing
to die in just the last fewmonths. Back in March, John Barnett,
Yeah, died in Charleston for whatthe corner set appeared to be a
self inflicted gunshot wound, though peopleclose to him said that that was not
something they would ever expect from him. So, you guys, yeah,

(01:29):
this needs to be It feels strange. It strange, there's no question.
Yeah, this is looked at.Right, all the money Boeing has lost
and now to whistleblowers it does andif one of them is a bacterial I
mean, it just seems like Idon't sure. I mean, I get
it, like these could all bethis could very much be a coincidence,
right, Like, it could veryeasily be that, but it also could

(01:49):
very easily be something like it's justsuch a look what happened to George Street.
Come on, I know that's true. That's true. Really quick.
So we're talking about airlines, I'llmake this one click quick. Studless airlines
will be required to offer seventy fivedollars travel vouchers for certain cancelations and delays.
The US Transportation Department announced the airlinewill need to give compensation as part
of a deal reached after the incidentthat quotes strained millions of passengers across the

(02:12):
country. They're talking about that holidaymeltdown that took place around Christmas of twenty
twenty two. One thing to notehere, though flyers are not eligible for
vouchers at the flight. It's affectedby factors out of the airlines control things
like weather, right, They're notgoing to give you that because look,
they can't control tornadoes in certain areasof the country or whatever. So only
if it's like technical issues then it'son them. So anyway, just a
heads up if you're flying somethwt Okay, I'll take a voucher vouchers. That's

(02:35):
good, all right. Before weget to the big premiere of the new
King Brown. What have you gotcoming up on the brief you guys,
because smart chicks are hot. Yep. I'm gonna talk about science and biology,
which I think is also a science. I know, and school hasn't
even started yet this morning. Yeah, I'm because the schooling starts now,
all right, all right? Butfirst, King Brown and Marshmallow on ninety

(03:00):
three point one w P. Isay, I was trying to with all
my ears, and I was tryingtrying good too far up though I did.
I was playing yeah, yeah, because I had to show you over
the moment. Oh, I seeso uh good to have you here,

(03:23):
Bob. What huh? I want? Can I can I butt in versus?
Well? What's new? Right?So? I had? Right,
I just want to butt in andgush for a second over both of you.
Really, what do you mean?Okay, here's what I mean.
I don't know if anybody out therelistening knows this or not, but our
very own Lorie Deong was nominated forthe National Radio Hall of Fame. Like

(03:47):
I didn't talk about this already,no, okay, all right, National
Like he's already bored already. I'llget to you in a second, because
little Birdie told me that in onemister Bob Dunmont is celebrating twenty five years
on this radio station. Like Mayfourteen, is that the actual date or

(04:09):
you know, fourteenth nine or fourthdoesn't matter, that's wrong. Here is
coming on. It's amazing. Bothof you, little quties are so humble.
I thought i'd smash you together andcongratulate you both for being legends,
because listen, in a business thatwill fire up and spit you away,
I'll fire you for blinking wrong linking. You guys have been here and you

(04:29):
have been you know, just entertainingour listeners for years and years, and
I'm proud of you both, andLaurie. I hope that you win this
Hall of Fame thing. This isvery cool. Thank you dominated a couple
of times. Yeah, I thinkthis is the fourth time. The boss
says it's the third, but Ithink he might be wrong, but it's
okay whatever. I think it's crazy. You're in the country music. Yea,
yeah, this is like all differentgenres. I think there's twenty four

(04:54):
something and what one gets picked. There is six people so I am a
one in four chance. See that'spretty good. That's one of four people
has an STD too, you knowwhat I mean. Thanks, that's I'm
really proud of you, and Ithink that's very kind. I appreciate you're

(05:15):
both fantastic and yeah, we're feelingthe love, aren't we? Bos we
are? So wasn't that worth meinterrupting? Go on with the Kimmel clip
or what? I have no clips? I have no clips today. I
have a story about Drew Barrymore ishosting a new reboot of Hollywood Squares.

(05:38):
I always liked that show. Thata couple of times. I'd like the
old woman that Paul Lynde was inthe center square, so funny, just
being creepy. I just want tobe in one of those squares. I
want to be. Do you thinkif I got in there to get in
the home first, they would letme be in the square? Absolutely?
I think that they. I thinkthey have pre written answers. By the

(05:59):
way, I don't think it's justlike I don't say that that's ruining it.
All right? Well it starts inJanuary. Okay, Well good,
she'll be great all right tonight onTV? The season finale of Shark Tank.
I do like that show. Okay, yeah, yeah, watch if
you watch the Kentucky Derby tomorrow, just know this why NOA is doing the
national anthem right before so Little CountryLove. So if you're betting on the

(06:25):
over under on that one, shewill go for three or four minutes.
And my little good news story todayis we're coming up on Nurses Week,
so it kicks off I think overthe weekend. But Chapottele, in honor
of all healthcare workers, is givingyou like for free food, free burritos.

(06:45):
All you have to do is goto their dedicated microsite and then you
can enter to win a free burrito. You don't have to buy anything to
get the free burrito healthcare professional. That's all healthcare professional. You'll be randomly
selected to get. They don't evenjust get one, no, like they
should like no, because they'll begiving out a lot, but you don't

(07:06):
have to buy anything. And here'sthe other thing they're doing. They're matching
any of the e gift cards thatpeople purchase maybe for a nurse or somebody
in their family, and donating tothe American Nurses Foundation. So they're kind
of getting back. Yeah, youcharge me three dollars for guak. I
think you can give a nurse afree burrito. Wow, I know you

(07:28):
could buy a whole avocado. Sobitter, so bitter. I'm saying they
have enough because they give it tothe nurse. That's what I'm saying.
I know the Rock has a thingwhere he's doing a free glock for Cinco
de Maya in the seventy one theRose Dirt a couple of us. It's

(07:58):
Russell Dickerson three point one WBOC.Before we get to our flashback Friday selection,
I know we've had a lot oftext about grocery shopping. Oh yeah,
Well I've been just wondering because youknow, people are really getting affected
by these higher prices, So Iwonder what's going on? All right,
So the average person goes to twostores and spends one hundred and seventy four
dollars on a family up to fiveand two hundred and sixty two on a

(08:22):
family of five or more. Andhere's what our listeners are saying. One
store, one time a week, four hundred dollars a week. Four people.
Wow. Sometimes a farmer's market anda store. Good morning. My
husband and I spend about one hundredand fifty week two stores. Somebody said
Sam's is our regular grocery store. We go once a month for a family

(08:43):
of five, spend nine hundred dollars. Oh wow, once a month though,
yep, and then weekly for aboutone hundred to a different store.
Okay, all right, my familyof three, we go to a mainstream
grocery store and an inexpensive grocery storelike all d once a week, and
then Costco or Bjy's once a month. But that's two memberships that they got

(09:03):
to pay for too, right, cheap, no Happy Friday. Three to
four stores every two weeks and upwardsof three hundred and fifty per trip family
of six two to four times aweek. Three hundred plus and groceries.
So this is really I mean, this is really adding up. Yeah,
it's not a shock. I mean, anybody just going to the grocery store

(09:24):
knows what price is just like right, it's just cut. I feel like
we're buying the same amount, butit doesn't cost the same. And have
you noticed like the packages like they'regiving us a little bit less less?
Oh yeah, the packages are shrinking, price tags going on. I don't
like it. All right, well, thanks everybody for reaching out on that
feeling for you. Yeah right. In a few minutes, we'll give you
our trivia questions so you can wintickets to Muscadine Bloodline. They're going to

(09:48):
be here in August. But beforewe do that, it's time for this
ninety three point one. That isa great song to dance to, to
say Wow Friday song, right CaineBrown with Marshmallow. We're doing that every
other hour so you'll be able tohear it again soon. It's nine minutes
after eight o'clock. I keep upin the loop of entertainment and pop culture

(10:13):
and the things we shouldn't care about, but somehow we really do. On
ninety three point one, so,Prince Harry is attempting to mend relations with
his royal family. He invited themto the Invictious Games ten year celebration in
London, but no senior members ofthe royal family are expected to attend.

(10:35):
I mean, they have a lotgoing on in the Royal family. Everybody's
fighting cancer and I don't know cameMiddleton undergoing cancer treatment. Prince William's still
estranged from his brother, King Charlesundergoing cancer treatment, but King Charles did
say that he's planning to spend sometime with Megan and Harry this summer.
Yeah, eventually. I mean,it's kind of like, I don't want

(10:58):
to say that I don't get it, but don't expect everybody to come run
into you after some of the stuffyou have. That's true. Sad,
that's true. It's like bashing everyonein your family and then throwing a party
and wondering why nobody's coming. That'sa really good metaphor Yeah, exactly what's
going on? All right? Theaverage America? I need your help on
this on text guys seven seven ninesix' two, begin your message with

(11:22):
high or hey. The average Americandoes their food shopping at two different grocery
stores a week. According to anew survey, many people go to like
a mainstream supermarket like a you know, Giant, something like that, and
then they go to a specialty shoplike Costco, Sam's Club or something more
specific. So I just wondered howmany grocery stores you go to every week?

(11:45):
The average American spends an average ofone hundred and seventy five dollars per
trip, and it goes that's fora family of two to five and for
a family of five and above twohundred and sixty two dollars. Okay,
I go to probably an average ofthree grocery stores a week. Oh a
week. Oh there are certain thingsI can only get at some grocery store.

(12:07):
Uh huh. So I would saythree, what about you? I'm
like one, just one, okay, if it's good, if you can
do it, I think that's great. If we if they don't have it
there, we don't have it thisweek. Yeah, because I just don't
have the capacity. Yeah. Wehave one of those small grocery stores too
near our house. So it's likewhen you run out of just one thing.

(12:28):
There's always one time in the weekI go over there just to get
just to run in. Yeah.Yeah, yeah, So I gotta say
three, all right, all right, one, we'll see what other.
So I want to see how manystores you go to every week, and
about how much you're spending on groceriesfor your family, and how many people
are in your family. So giveme the rundown on Tex seven seven nine
six two, Hi or hey tobegin your message. Okay, blue Bloods

(12:48):
is ending after fourteen seasons in December. I guess I didn't realize it was
still happening't either, So you knowthat's the kind of the end of an
era. That's a really long runningshow. Bumble. How about this,
The dating app Bumble no longer requiringwomen to send the first message. The
app now has a feature called OpeningMoves, and it lets women post a

(13:11):
question and then men can respond toit. It's been women sending the first
message since twenty fourteen. And lastly, Ryan Gosling, dreamy movie star,
I know, the one. Healso does all the cooking at his house.
I know, I like this guymore all the time. I'm like,
Ryan, why are you making allthe guys look bad? Like why?

(13:31):
And he's doing nicer movies now andfun movies for his girls because his
kids are involved in his decision making. Now yeah, ah, I know
how Dreamy? I know? Welove you more now Ryan. Yeah.
Somebody antext just said, hey,I go three to four times a week.
That's a lot. That's a lot. It is, think of it.

(13:52):
It's a lot of time to spend. But you know what, what
do we think about more than food? Maybe your money, your mine,
bead Well that's because of this shift. But yeah, food, people are
always talking about What are we havingfor dinner? Where are we going?
What do you want? If you'renot eating, you're thinking about what you're
gonna eat? Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly, all right. Coming
up here in a minute, theFlashback Friday selection. We'll get to that.

(14:16):
We've also got what else, aweather forecast for you. Partly sunny
today, it's actually beautiful. There'sa breeze out there. Temperatures are going
to be in the seventies today. It came brown and marshmallow the last few
days. I like it. Idid too. I was just kind of
moving around in here. I don'tthink he's just talking about a truck ten

(14:37):
minutes after six o'clock to keep usin the loop of entertainment and pop culture
and the things we shouldn't care about, but somehow we really do. Breathe
on ninety three point one. Justa couple of weeks after the death of
O. J. Simpson, Lifetimehas announced a plan to air a two
night documentary event, The Life andMurder Nicole Brown Simpson. That'll air June

(15:03):
first and second. I'm interested inthat, but yeah, yeah, I'll
watch it. Kristin Stewart and OscarIsaac are set to star in Flesh of
the Gods. Interesting combination those two. Uh huh A vampire thriller right in
her wheelhouse. Ye about the drugdrenched glam scene of nineteen eighties Hollywood.

(15:24):
I don't know. I probably willnot watch that. Yeah, I'm not
big into the vampire movies period, any kind of vampire, but I get
it's a thing. I know,but it's so weird, right, Okay.
Me TV is turning cartoon It's cartoonblock into a new network called me
TV Tunes. It'll start June twentyfifth, and it'll deep dive into Warner

(15:45):
Brothers Vault for classic tunes like Bugs, Bunny, Daffy Duck, Scooby Doo,
et cetera, et cetera, etcetera. All right, Britney Spears,
the pop star is now safe andsound at home after getting to a
fight with her boyfriend at a LosAngeles hotel. And also yesterday it was
announced that her divorce or his finalto people are saying she's losing it.
I saw on Instagram yesterday she posteddon't believe the news. Like I'm fine

(16:07):
kind of a deal, but likeboy, my heart goes out because that
is a sad story. All right, now here comes the science. Brace
yourselves. Okay, this orangutang thingis crazy. Okay. So an orangutang
named Raucus gets into a fight withanother orangutang. Okay, and orangutang walks
into a bar, so they getinto a fight. He cuts his eyes.

(16:32):
His eye is cut right above hiseye. So then scientists observe him
grabbing a leaf from a tree thatthey don't usually eat. He chews it
up and he puts it on hiseye. Turns out it's like a painkiller
and it helps you. Guys. That's crazy, right. They're like,
he's like a doctor. He's anorangutang doctor. This is fastening. I

(16:57):
am fascinated by that, all right. Second thing, I'm fascinated by today.
All right, the world's gonna end. Oh we all know it,
all right. Scientists used a supercomputerto figure out exactly when it's going to
end and how this is breaking.Okay, what did they say? Two
hundred and fifty million years from now, and it's not going to be a

(17:19):
big bang. It's in fact,I can party that year. I know,
I know it's not going to bea big bang. And it's in
fact going to be a slow crashingof all of the continents into each other.
Yeah, I think it's already sortof begun very hot, very dry,
largely inhabitable continents. They're going tobecome one super continent. So it

(17:41):
sort of started yesterday with the dhow hot it was. It'll be like
that. I think, thank you, you're welcome. I just fixed science,
just drained all the whole. Well, listen, like this is going
to sound really stupid. I know, I know you're shocked. But when
I was like a little girl,I was so scared of when the world
was going to end. So like, if somebody would have told me,
don't worry, it's gonna be intwo hundred and fifty million years, you

(18:02):
could just take a nice deepat Iwouldn't have been so scared. Night could
have saved therapy bills. You canwe trust it? Boy? Can we
trust anything? Is the real question. All Right, I'm gonna go live
with the orangutans enough for this. They'll take care of me. So coming
up what you found on his socialmedia that kind of made you go,
no, this guy's not for me. We'll talk about that next. We

(18:23):
do have a sunny well, partlysunny day anyway, mid to upper seventy
sixty five right now ninety three pointone jelly roll ninety three point one w
POC. So I've got it upon our Facebook. The question today,
what did you find on his socialmedia? Or it could go both ways

(18:44):
on her social media that made yousay this one is not for me?
All right? So the article thatI saw it was all women talking about
men on social media. So here'sone woman that said, I found that
the guy I was dating had anunhealthy obsession with the female el news anchors
on TV stations, to the pointwhere he would post photoshop photos of them

(19:06):
on his Facebook, putting their headson superhero bodies, you know, like
counter Women, Batgirl. Yeah.No. One woman said I had a
guy randomly ad me on Facebook. We had mutual friends in common, so
I accepted, and then he messagedme and said, I wish you were
my sweat towel at the gym.Wow. That's a little aggressive in just

(19:30):
a touch. And when a guylikes every one of my post pictures,
it's a deal breaker. It justcomes off as a huge sign of desperation.
I don't like everything I put up. Okay, any other things that
you guys notice on social that's justlike makes you go, no, you
know. I got heat from somebodythat dated quite a few years ago before

(19:52):
I met my wife because because Iwas not active enough on social media,
like, oh, she didn't likethat I was not liking more of her
things and I was not interacting morewith that. I was like, I
don't even think I follow you.I don't even I just social media was
not at the time somebody that Iwas very not that I'm super crazy active
now, but I was even lessactive then that I am now, and

(20:15):
it actually bothered her that I wasnot more involved in it. I don't
I think. I'm not with you. I don't think I'm attracted to two
men being super active on social mediain general at all, because it makes
you go, why, yeah, what do you? Well, like,
what are you posting? Because areyou posting selfie? Because that's a little
weird? I think, like, what do you you know what I mean,

(20:37):
like too much to kid content? Is weird? Too much too much
of anything? I don't know.Yeah, yeah, I'm with you.
I mean that's something I think thatwill I'm not on social media much,
but if I'm gonna unfollow somebody,it's generally because they post the same stuff,
too much of the same kind ofcontent over and over. I also
love that you actually take the effortto unfollow, Like I think that great

(21:00):
because I think about it from timeto time, like I should unfollow people
that I'm like, yeah, butI don't really have the time to wait
tired. I mean, it's Ijust don't like all of it up there.
There's enough on there. I getit. You're not bringing it.
I get it. I also feellike, for me personally, it will
be the messages. Yeah, LikeI don't want a picture of anything on

(21:22):
your body. Yeah, oh,you know what I mean. And I've
never understood why men think that's agood thing, Like I don't. Why
do you think this is what's gonnasinge the deal? A picture of that
is going to get I don't thinkso. And sometimes within the first like
five minutes of a conversation like wow, wow, so what do you like
to do on the weekends? Andhere's I don't all right, just be

(21:48):
more polite too, I feel like, please look at it rushing. I
didn't know if we were over justthe whole the rest. Jason Alt ninety
three point one w POC. Yesterdaywe were talking about it was pretty toasty.

(22:08):
And one of the ways I cantell is my smallest dog. Her
body heats up so quick just becauseshe's so little so and she's black,
so when she's out, you knowthe heat. But I always walked the
dogs. We have a circular drive, so I was walk around the driveway
with them multiple times a day.And one side is a hill going up,

(22:29):
and yesterday she just kind of lookedat me like, we got to
that point, could you give mea lift? Could you just give me
a lift? So, and Ipicked her up and her little body just
felt a lot, all right. So the question is what did you find
on his social media that made yousay this guy's not for me. You

(22:51):
can put something on our Facebook. You can also text us I should have
mentioned that seven seven nine No,yeah, seven seven nine six two It
okay? And start with higher hay, and then tell us what you think
and we'll be happy to read someof those too. You're not into facebook.

(23:12):
Harry Underwood four minutes till seven o'clock, It's Nashville News Now with Pierre
on ninety three point one w POC. Turn my mic on There we go.
Kyle Bradish return to the Orioles frominjury and had a warm welcome.
Bradish finished fourth in the Say YoungAward voting last season. I don't know
why I'm telling you this story rightnow. This is the News, not

(23:33):
the Nashville News. Say this isinteresting. I'm so off. I'm sorry,
It's okay, it's is He's weall have these dates, brain melt
down, all right, let's getinto the Nashville News. Sorry. Today
is supposed to be Morgan Wallin's datein court for his chair throwing incident last
month, but it looks like hewill not be attending. Wallan has waived
his right to appear in court, meaning his attorney will appear on his behalf.
I find it somewhat interesting only becauseWallen is in Nashville right now.

(23:56):
He's got three three night run ofshows in Nashville. It started last night,
so it's not like he's not there, and this is an interesting choice.
He did make a statement, andI guess his attorney will read that.
Yeah. Yeah, oh, I'msure. I'm sure they're doing everything
he is. Yeah, they're doingeverything the way they're going to do.
And look We know he's not goingto go to jail because it's Morgan Wallen,
but should he get convicted for somereason, he faced a minimum one

(24:18):
year sentence with a maximum of sixyears for the felony reckless endangerment charge that
he faces. Speaking of Morgan,it is official now. The new Post
Malone song featuring Morgan Wallen will becoming out on Friday of next week,
but we're going to have it foryou on Thursday, so we're gonna be
playing I had some help on Thursdaythe ninth before. You can find the
song anywhere else, so if youwant to hear it, the only place
you can hear it for that twentyfour hour period is on the radio with

(24:40):
us here on w POC. SoI'm gonna look forward to next week.
Mega Maroni drops some new music today. We'll take a listen to it later
in the nine to forty New MusicFriday Update. But with the new song
came an announcement for a new album. Almost a year after she dropped her
debut, Moroney will be giving usher second album titled am I Okay.
That's going to be coming out onJuly twelfth, and a quick reminder that

is commercial free. That's right tilltwo am, which I love. I

(25:26):
can see you by the bar.Sanny Martarito with a broken Hawtrey. Today's
Best Country ninety three point one wPOC Baltimore now Top Stories at the top
of the Hour. Entertainment group Paramountcould be going to a new home soon.
The company has been struggling to earnviewers, with many of its cable
properties falling apart, and it's streamingservice, Paramount Plus, lagging behind other

(25:48):
services. The Wall Street General reportsSony Pictures Entertainment and Apollo Global Management are
making an offer to buy Paramount Globalfor twenty six billion dollars In cash Earlier
this week, Paramount CEO step downas well, so there have been some
troubles on the inside of things. We'll see if this can help them bounce
back. The IRIS is planning toincrease audits on large corporations and wealthy individuals.

(26:08):
The agency has new funding from thetwenty twenty two Inflation Reduction Act,
and some of that money will beused to ramp up the number of audits
on corporations with assets of more thantwo hundred and fifty million dollars, as
well as people with income of morethan ten million dollars. The agency says
there will be no increase in auditsfor people earning less than four hundred thousand
dollars a year. In recent years, it has been much more likely for

(26:29):
lower income earners to be audited thanwealthier Americans. If you made less than
fifty thousand dollars, you are morelikely to be audited than those making between
fifty thousand and five million dollars. So this should be a little bit of
a change. It's going to bethe end of an era. An iconic
DC sports landmark has been cleared fordemolition. The National Park Service has given
the green light to tear down RFKStadium. The venue open in nineteen sixty
one and was the home of thenow Washington Commanders, the Senators and Nationals,

(26:52):
the DC United, as well asthe home of many special events over
the years. The venue has satunused for years now, so it is
time to take it down. There'sbeen some talk the demolition would clear the
way for a new venue for theCommanders to be built there. Now the
Commander is having new ownership groups,so we'll see what happens there. All
right, we've got the brand newCaine Brown song with Marshmellow. But before
we do that, what's coming upon your brief? Bethany? All right,

(27:15):
