(00:00):
Hey, welcome to the Lori deYoung Show podcast. If you missed our
show today, we're sorry about that, but here are some highlights for you.
Be sure to catch it tomorrow everyweekday morning from five till ten,
or on the iHeartRadio apps. Today'sBest Country ninety three point one w POC
Baltimore now Top stories at the topof the hour. So we got some

(00:21):
showers in the forecast for today.Kind of depends on which forecast you look
at, but I'm seeing the strongerchance being here in the morning than clearing
up a little bit by midday.Still mostly cloudy throughout the day with the
high round sixty eight degrees. Tonightsome scattered showers out there, and tomorrow
it clears up and dries out withthe high near seventy three. Yesterday was
primary day in Maryland and the unofficialresults are in. Not really a ton

(00:43):
of surprises here, but as expected, President Biden former President Trump took the
wins for the presidential part of theprimary. As for other races on the
Democratic side, the Prince George's CountyExecutive Angela also Brooks, won the race
for US Senate. This is theseat that's being left open by the retiring
Ben Cardin. On the Republican side, it was the former governor Larry Hogantill
so also Brooks and Hogan will battlein November for the US House races.

(01:04):
The incumbents have been re elected torepresent their parties in the November election,
and District two, longtime representative DutchRupersberger is retiring, so Baltimore County Executive
johny Olschesky won that Democratic race forthat seat. He'll be facing off against
media personality Kim Klasik in November. In Baltimore, it looks like Mayor Brandon
Scott is headed for a second term. There are still some mail in votes

(01:25):
to be counted, but Scott hasa decent lead right now, though former
Mayor Shil Addiction is not yet conceding. The Democratic primary is largely considered to
be the deciding vote for Baltimore mayor. The leading Republican candidate for the position
received fewer votes than a Democratic challengerthat dropped out of the race a few
weeks ago, and City councilman ZekeCohen is expected to become the next city
council presidents. That's what we haveso far from the primary yesterday. That's

(01:47):
your new up date. All right. Coming up on the brief, you've
got Beth Andy, what's up?All right? So who is going to
be the Golden Bachelorette? Here's ahint. She's from Maryland. Oh.
Also, Hinge has made some bigchanges to their dating app, which I
don't know. You'll have to letme know if you think they're going to
work. All right, it's allcoming up next. Here's Sam Hunt and

(02:08):
Outskirts. It's hardy and it's tenminutes after eight o'clock. To keep us
in the loop of entertainment and popculture and the things we shouldn't care about,
but somehow we really do. Addingbreathe on ninety three point one.
You guys, It's been well documentedover the years that once you put thousands

(02:31):
of young, physically optimal athletes ina small area, say the Olympic Village,
the feats of athletic prowess find theirway into the bedroom. To counter
this nice way putting it, thankyou. To counter this, the Olympic
Village is once again outfitting it withbeds that are designed to discourage late night

(02:53):
romantic encounters. They are tiny, twin sized beds made with cardboard frames.
They're not only a deterrent to youknow, activities, but they're also environmentally
friendly. Uh. I'm not surethat the twin size beds are going to
be a deterrent. Have you beento college? Yeah? Now? Or
the cardboard frankly right, But that'shappening. So Paris is trying to keep

(03:17):
keep it on the on the dluh. If you are one of those
people that get all the pop culturequestions right on Jeopardy like yours, truly,
there's a new show called pop CultureJeopardy. I like it. I
like that It's coming to Amazon PrimeVideo, so I'm excited about that.
Oh, did you guys see theportrait of Prince Charles or King Charles?

(03:38):
You know, I want to lookat it because I've heard about it,
but I haven't. I haven't seenit yet. It's pretty terrible, Okay.
People are saying he looks like Satan, That's what I heard. It's
it's all red, it's all red. Like I can't even disc but they
did, like BBC did this videoasking people what they think of it,

(03:59):
and they're all just trying to beso polite towards the king. They're like,
oh, I think he looks morehandsome in real life. Yeah,
that is bad. I just pulledit up. It's so bad. Right.
It looks like it's painted in blood. It's really disturbing. It is
the King probably painted it looks likethe devil. Okay, so apparently the
artist Jonathan Yelle spent three years workingon the painting, and King Charles sat

(04:23):
four times for it. I wonderhow he feels about it. Well,
they ripped the Yeah, they rippedthe curtain down, and he's just like,
oh oh, I mean we weretalking about the King by the way,
because you keep saying Prince, I'mlike that used to be. It's

(04:44):
okay. I just didn't wan anybodythink it was like Prince William or be
confused. No, no, KingCharles. Yeah, sure, this is
the big guy. All right.Uh so how about a war on weddings
with Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon. This trailer looks funny. Yeah, it's
called You're Cordially Invited. I thinkthis is a good matchup for comedy.
It's gonna be a cute little romcom. So we'll see. I've got

(05:06):
fall Guy looked funny. Yeah, okay, I got worried at first when
I saw Will Ferrell and Reach withthe spoon, I was like, please
don't make them be in love.I thought they were weird and it does
not appear that way. Okay, good. And lastly, speaking of being
in love, I know how muchyou liked the Roadhouse movie. Oh I
saw this. They're good. They'redoing another one. Yeah. I cannot

(05:28):
believe this. Amazon's making a sequelto Jake jill in Hell's Roadhouse because it's
specifically for same Pierre when he madethe first one. Watched they said it
got eighty million streams. It's streamedwell by Amazon Prime standards, which is
not bad. I mean people watchedit. But I think people watch a
lot of stuff on streaming because it'sjust there, right, Like I think

(05:50):
about all the B or C levelmovies on Netflix that have become humongous hits
for Netflix because people are going towatch these things that are sitting in front
of them. They don't like havetoque unquote paid for, you know,
right. But I'm shocked that theygot Jake Gillen Hall to sign on for
a second one. I mean, they must be throwing so much for it,
they must be giving him so muchmoney. Everyone has a price.

(06:11):
I guess he got really hurt andhe got like ringworm or something. Well,
hell, like, I've heard thosestories too. Like, aside from
the fact that the movie is themovie, like, I just feel like
there's so many other things that wentalong with it that I'm like, I
cannot believe. He said yes again, but I believe it. Pierre,
Yes, Yeah, money talks, all right, And that's the end of
the brief. We've got some ticketsto give away. Leanne Morgan is going

(06:33):
to be at the Lyrics Saturday NightComedian, and we'll have those and a
trivia question for you here in justa few minutes. We do have some
rain in the area. High's todayupper sixties. We're at sixty now point
one WPO. See Today's Best CountryTyler Hubbard coming up here in a minute.
Keith Urban recently was talking about ArianaGrande's latest song we Can't Be Friends.

(06:56):
He called it, oh my God, so good, He called it
audible heroin. He goes, Idon't know what's going on with that song.
I cannot stop playing it. Hegoes, I play it over and
over and over. He should doa version of it. That'd be really
good. I think so too.Yeah. I probably listen to that song
about one hundred times this week reallyyeah, or not even the weekend,
just the last couple of days.I've heard it and I like her a

(07:17):
lot, but I don't know.It didn't hit me in the same way
everybody else has talked about it.I don't know I missed it, like
when the album came out. Iguess I didn't listen to it right away,
but I heard it on one ofthose countdown shows, like the Carson
Daily Countdown Show on Sunday morning, and I was like, what is this
magical thing on my radio speakers? Now? You know. The other one
I like is the Olivia Rodrigue.Everything she does? I know, why

(07:41):
are they? Is pop making acomeback? Maybe maybe for us? Anyway?
That's an a. Do you havea song you just can't get it
out of your brain? Yeah?Oh that? First of all, Hosier
is not my favorite, but hehas this song too sweet. Okay,
everybody's everybody using it for Instagram reels. It was on TikTok now it's on

(08:03):
Instagram blah blah blah. Okay,do we have a little clip of it?
Okay, do I play it becauseI don't know where it is.
It's up on your button bar, which one page, Maine. Okay,
all right, here we go.This is the Hosier song if you haven't
heard it, scary sweet like that. Yeah, okay, all right,

(08:35):
sat Pete, wats your song? You can't shake it? I feel like
I should have used Ariana Grande now. But there's a song that we're playing
now from Bailey Zimmerman called Where ItEnds. It's a fine song, like
it's not, you know, oneof my personal all time favorites, but
it's a fine song. But thechorus just gets trapped in my head.
I find myself like I don't evenknow the words, but like just going
around the house, like doing thebeat. If you want to play the
clip, you're the last point onew P. I'll see today's Country Tyler

(09:01):

and I give you seconds yet ajob, so i'kay shunting down. I'm
not your da, I got yourLet it again? This where it Is?

(11:31):
That's a good part of this.I'll just be walking around the house
like like I don't even know what'sgoing on, Like where did that come
from? Okay? So mine isvery White, can't get enough of your
love. I love that this isin your head. And I know,
I know it's an old song, but for some reason, when I'm in
the house, i'm doing stuff inthe kitchen or whatever, I'm always playing

(11:54):
this song because it makes me feelso good. And I don't know.
When we first got our littlest dog, tig Ed, used to play this
song with her and just kind ofdance around with her because she was so
tiny, And I don't know,it's just one of those happy songs.
So here's mine. Bang Up yourArry Arry Barry just makes me happy.

(12:28):
I think it's funny, not justbecause that's an older song, but like
Barry White, is this kind oftied into specific acts in people's lives.
I know. So the fact thatyou're wandering around with Barry White in your
head all day, I know,I know. Okay, I'm just saying
I did put it up on ourFacebook. Is there currently a song you
just cannot get out of your head? We want to know what it is.

Headhunters Lonesome Knee, I can't getyour place Ashley Cook. Hi, it's

Stereotype by Cole Swindel. Okay, let's see post Malone and Morgan Wallin.
Let's see I've been working on nowit's in don't do that long Day,

(15:05):
and Den Damn Sweet Geez Mob LittleToes. Yeah, it's got the same
vibe as God's Country Okay, BlakeShelton song like the drums, Yeah,

(15:26):
I can hear where you're going withthat. I kind of like the the
gritty Luke Combs though, like I'mready to have that back. I love
dad Luke Colmbs, I love loverLuke Colmbs. But like gritty rock and
country Airport and the sound of countrymusic. Speaking of the sound of it
feels like it's changing a little bit. I mean, we've had all these
world premieres lately that tend to havea little bit more of a poppy feel

(15:46):
to them. Uh. We've hadsome traditionally pop artists working their way into
country, like Post Malone, theDJ Diplo, Beyonce. One name you
might not have expected, though,as Zane, formerly of One Direction,
seems his new album is going tohave a bit of a country flare to
it, but he says it wasn'tdone on purpose. Zaane says he was
on his farm having a glass ofwhiskey and listening to Chris Stapleton by the

(16:07):
fire while playing guitar, and that'swhere the vibe for his new album comes
from. He just was really inspiredby Chris Stapleton's work. He insists that
he's not trying to get on thebandwagon of pop stars going country, but
I'm genuinely curious like what he's beenworking on, Like it does sound kind
of interesting to hear, and abig Chris Stapleton fan over here, so
I'm down to hear anything that heinspires. So we'll find out more from

(16:30):
Zay. And the album comes outon Friday, so I'm right to hear
what it's telling. Yeah, I'mlooking forward to that. Actually, here's
Bailey Zimmerman with Religiously on ninety threepoint one w POC. Well look fixed,
heers, I didn't want to seeninety three point one w POC,

(16:52):
Baltimore. Now Top stories at thetop of the hour, group of TikTok
content creators from eight states issuing thegovernment over its efforts to ban the popular
app. In the lawsuit, thecreators call the law unconstitutionally over broad and
argues that violates the First Amendment rightsof users. TikTok and its parent company
by Dance filed a separate lawsuit challengingthe law last week. It is interesting

(17:14):
because TikTok has provided a lot ofpeople with their main source of income.
So you're not just banning a socialmedia app. You're also essentially firing people
and kicking them out of their jobs. So yeah, look interesting to see
how that plays out. The WNBA'snumber one draft pick, Caitlin Clark,
made her debut last night. Notgreat but not bad. Kind of look
like she has some jitters, whichis completely understandable. She had twenty points
three assists and two steals in theloss, and we'll see how her career

(17:37):
continues to develop. I'm sure there'sa lot more good coming her way.
Major Poodle is the big winner atthe one hundred and forty eighth annual Westminster
Kennel Club Dog Show. Sage wascrowned Best in Show yesterday, chose a
number one among twenty five hundred dogsfrom more than two hundred breeds and red
lobster has been added to the endangeredspecies list. The chain is closing at
least ninety nine locations, or abouta fifteen percent of its restaurants, trying

(18:00):
to stave off bankruptcy. Here.Four of those locations are here in Maryland,
so the Red Lobsters in Columbia,Laurel, Gaithersburg, and Columbia.
I'm sorry, already said Columbia. There is a fourth, but I typed
Columbia twice. I don't know wherethe fourth one is. Sorry, but
apparently some of the equipment is upfor grabs at these locations, So if
you're a fish enthusiast, you mightbe able to score a big fish tank
for your house or some other items. I've read there are some auctions going

(18:22):
on for the items right now,and they wrap up tomorrow, So if
you're interested, you might want toget in on the action there and see
if you can score yourself some redLobster goodies. Yeah, but just remember
not all of the restaurants are close. Correct. I think your favorite one
of Knowing Smells appears to still beopen, is it White Marshes White Marsh
I'm sorry, I said White marsThey're all mixed up on your location.
I know it's the Kon Talk. It's got your mind. It must be

(18:45):
crazy fuzzy. All right, whatdo we have coming up on your brief,
Bethany? Oh, I'm sorry.I'm still in Salid world. You
guys you are, of course?Yeah, like more new TV shows.
