Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, welcome to the Lori de Young Show podcast. If
you missed our show today, we're sorry about that, but
here are some highlights for you. Be sure to catch
it tomorrow every weekday morning from five till ten, or
on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Today's Best Country ninety three point one w POC Baltimore
now top stories at the top of the hour.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:21):
So we should have a really nice day to day
to kick off the week. High temperature up around seventy
four degrees. It is shaping up to be a really
nice week as a whole. We'll see highs right around
seventy give or take, and mostly sunny skies. If this
extended forecast for US holds on, we'll even be looking
at a high near eighty on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Now.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
Unfortunately, Florida not looking at such a nice weather week.
That central West Coast area of Florida is bracing for
another hurricane. Hurricane Milton is gaining strength that it takes
aim at the Sunshine State. That's storm only formed in
the Gulf on Saturday and rapidly strengthened. Forecasters expect a
hurricane to make landfall by Wednesday afternoon, and predictions have
been coming ashore just southwest of Tampa. So far would

(00:58):
I've seen as forecasters say, could reach category four status
well in the Gulf and may make landfall as a
Category three storm. But it's been growing so fast. I
mean a lot of this stuff could change. As you
already know, that west coast of Florida is still kind
of digging out and figuring out what to do following
some serious damage from Hurricane Helene less than two weeks ago.
Even though Helene made landfall sort of in that Bend area,

(01:18):
it was the outer bands that really brought the storm
surge in and flooded huge parts of that whole like
kind of strip there along Tampa a little bit north
of that. So those folks are really just a tough
position right now is they're still trying to, I don't know,
salvage what they have from the last storm, and here
they are facing another one. I know most of schools
in that region have been canceled owas to start the
week off. They've already got some evacuation orders in place,

(01:39):
They've got some others kind of waiting to see what
happens with the storm. But yeah, just tough situation for
folks over there, and we're sending our thoughts to them
as they continue to deal with this.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Coming up on your brief, Bethany, well, I have a
way to make your romantic life a little bit sweeter.
Nice ears. There's Dustin Lynch were jelly roll.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
She was just to kill Simmons.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Dustin Lynch with jelly roll. It's nine minutes after six
o'clock to.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
Keep us in the loop of entertainment and pop culture
and the things we shouldn't care about, but somehow we
really do.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
As Bethany breath on ninety three point one WOC.

Speaker 6 (02:22):
Just as he should.

Speaker 7 (02:24):
Richard Simmons was laid to rest in his classic workout outfit.
Over the weekend, there was a celebration of life, and
his brother shared the news.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
I guess they.

Speaker 7 (02:36):
His brother spoke of their happy childhood and said that
Richard once considered being a priest.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
I've heard that before.

Speaker 7 (02:43):
That's so interesting, right, He passed away July thirteenth at
the age of seventy six.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Seemed to care a lot about other people, so I
think that makes sense.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (02:52):
During Week six of the ESPN's College Game Day, a
UC Berkeley engineering student named Daniel took in a field
goal contest and one one hundred thousand dollars.

Speaker 6 (03:06):
He missed his first attempt, got his second attempt.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Oh, he got two attempts.

Speaker 7 (03:09):
Okay, right, I mean like I wouldn't be able to
do it in two anyway, it doesn't matter, but he was.
Another one hundred thousand dollars went to Hurricane Helene victims,
which I think is pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
We went to the Towson football game on Saturday night
and they did like a field goal thing and they
were like, please welcome so and so to the field
for his attempt. The prize was fifty dollars to a
pizza shop. I was like, it feels hardly worth it,
hardly worth it, like two pizzas for kicking the field goal,
like at least throwing like a hundred, Like I don't.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Know if God make it worth our wife, right.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
I know if?

Speaker 4 (03:41):
I mean, he missed it, so he missed out in
the fifty bucks and pizza anyway, But still I was like.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Man, come on, make this, make it worth his while.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
That should be the go away prize. I feel right, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 7 (03:50):
Anne Hathaway is returning, returning to Genovia everyone.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
I can't wait.

Speaker 7 (03:56):
Princess Diaries three has been confirmed. She will once again
star as the Genovian Royalty. I wonder what's gonna happen
with Oh, I can't think of her name thee Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Thank you.

Speaker 7 (04:11):
Yeah, she hasn't been confirmed yet, so yeah, I hope
she makes a bit like those movies.

Speaker 6 (04:17):
Oh my god, how cute.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
They're fun, so cute.

Speaker 7 (04:20):
Bravo is working on a reality series focused on the
wives and girlfriends of Kansas City Chiefs players.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
I bet they are.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
I'm sure it's spearheaded by Brittany Mahomes. Well, she needs
more cameras on her.

Speaker 7 (04:34):
Interestingly enough, Brittany and Taylor both won't be in the series.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Taylor, of course, will not be in it, right, this
is no reason for her to be in that.

Speaker 7 (04:42):
She actually didn't even go to Travis's thirty fifth birthday
party over the weekend. But my guess is she's a
bit overexposed right now. You know how sometimes she goes
away for a while. I feel like that's coming on.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Yeah, I believe Travis said that it was she's going
to be at the game tonight. Like it wasn't a
big deal. It was just she couldn't make it.

Speaker 7 (05:00):
Right, but I think she should probably back off for
a little while anyway, if you ask me.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
I do think it's interesting not to shift the gears
a little bit. But like I did, there are a
lot of art like players that are dating famous women
and no one ever puts them on screen except Taylor.
And I know Taylor is the biggest star on the planet,
so I get that, I get the you know, the accessibility,
and they want to put her on there, but like,
there are so many other actresses and singers and everything
at these games every time, and they never get put

(05:26):
on screen, Like it's only Taylor that the TV cameras
go to.

Speaker 7 (05:30):
It's so true, and even in the promos and stuff.
I'm like, really, guys, and if your romantic life needs
a little pick me up, experts are saying that you
should be picking up because if your room is dirty.

Speaker 6 (05:44):
You're not gonna get it as much.

Speaker 7 (05:46):
And one coach says that if you take as little
as five minutes to tidy up your sleeping space before bedtime,
you could actually get some So okay to cleaning.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Guys, pick it up. You know what Bethany's going to
do when she gets cle my room later, all right?
Coming up here in a few minutes. Our single SmackDown
will kind of unveil what we're asking you to vote
for and the most awkward thing you have accidentally overheard. Okay,
we'll talk about that here in the next little while too.
We've got a sunny day. We have tempts going to

(06:20):
the mid seventies. It is sixty one out there now.
It's Morgan Walling with Ernest ninety three point one WPOC.
Today's Best Country.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Show. All right, here we go. We do it every Monday.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
We pick some songs, you get to vote for them,
then we find out who is the winner and play
it back for you at nine twenty five. It's a
grab bag today, no real theme, just some songs we
all want to hear.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
So, Lauri, why don't you kick it off?

Speaker 5 (06:50):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (06:51):
I picked Rascal Flats These Days. It came out twenty
two years ago, but I thought, because they're going to
do the reunion tour, I was thinking about them.

Speaker 7 (07:00):
Okay these Days, Bethany, I am going to go with
a recent viral sensation, I'm a Survivor by Reba. Okay,
it's you know, it was good having a moment right now,
taking Instagram. Well kind of over the summer, you know,
but h yeah, all.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
The kid's choice.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
Yeah, the kiddos and the mamas are both going to
like this one.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
Okay, all right, And I'm just going for a feel
good song on a Monday because it feels like it's
going to be a nice day today. I am going
with Frankie ballor with Young and Crazy. So let's just
have some fun here today. That's what I'm going for.
A right, If you want to vote, We've got a
few different options for you. I'll give you the social
media options here. First, you can vote on Instagram. Just
check out the stories. I'm posting it right now, so
give me about I don't know a minute, and then

(07:45):
it will be up there for your vote. Check out
the stories. You can also vote on Facebook. Laurie's going
to set that up so you can do that. If
you want to call, you can do that, Lauria. I'm
drawing a blank on the number one.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Hundred three two six ninety three.

Speaker 7 (07:58):
And texting Bethany seven seventy nine six ' too. Begin
your message with high or hey. It should look like hey,
I'm a survivor.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
You can also vote for like like hey, I forgot
the song, but I want to vote for same Pierre.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Yeah, hey, you know what I love these days?

Speaker 7 (08:17):
Hey who's Frankie ballor yeah, hey, thanks love him?

Speaker 3 (08:22):
He's cute. Where is he? Though?

Speaker 1 (08:24):
That's true, I don't know what happened he disappears, you
know what.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
To make a long story short, he put this album
out that was absolutely phenomenal, but it like bombed on
the radio.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
And then he just kind of stopped and I.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Was like, oh, it was such a felt rejection.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
Maybe it was such a good record though, I was like, dude,
make more of this.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
This is what we need. That was so good.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
All right, so votes can be happening for the next
you know, three hours, right. I saw this on read
It the other day, the most awkward thing you've accidentally overheard,
and I thought, oh, that's kind of interesting. I'm going
to give you a couple that they heard from, you know,
people about and then we'll talk about ours. Somebody said

(09:03):
two days into a music festival, it was about six
in the morning from about two tents over. Here's what
I heard, Kiefer. I slept with your mother. I'm really sorry,
but we got talking when you went to bed and
she was crying and talking about the divorce and I
was just trying to console her.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Yeah, that'd be a shocker. Here's someone who said, I
once heard my boss rehearsing out of fire somebody and
then he realized I was standing out there.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
That's good.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Yeah, a man telling his daughter in the presence of
her friends that her boyfriend is clearly not picky.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Ooh yikes, how terrible, Like you'll go for anything.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Yeah, right, yikes. Somebody said, I can't give you exactly
how they said it, but my uncle texted his wife
on the family group text about how he was looking
forward to getting together with her because he was so
hot for her. He said, my cousins, his kids, my siblings,

(10:06):
everyone in the family realized what they were going to
do in the afternoon.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
The afternoon delight.

Speaker 6 (10:13):
That sounds like it was an accident.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
I was walking into the grocery store on Friday and
that there were two young women and they were both
going to work, and they were either their friends or
you know, obviously they're coworkers, but they were complaining about
having to go to work and why they didn't like
the place. Right behind him. I just started laughing because
I'm thinking, oh, this place doesn't sound that good. Maybe

(10:37):
I should turn around and go. But they started laughing
when I started laughing. So what was a good, little,
you know, feel good on Friday kind of thing. You guys,
have anything awkward that you've overheard lately.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
I don't know if I told you this before, Laurie,
but there was a time where you would butt dial
me fairly often on your phone.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
I still do it, yeah, not quite as often. You
think you've gotten better. Maybe the phone technology has gotten better,
maybe keeps you from doing it. But there was one
time where you button dialed me and I answered the phone,
thinking like you needed something, and it's like hello, Hello,
And then I quickly realized you were having an argument
with Ed. And there was a piece of me that
was like, I really want to keep listening to this.
Then there's like the devil and angel on your shoulder, right,

(11:18):
Like the Devil's like keep listening, and the Angel's like, no, no,
show us some respect.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Hang up.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
It was kind of hard.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
It sounded like I was probably in your purse, like
the phone was in your purse, but I couldn't hear everything,
but it was clear you two were we're having a disagreement,
and I was like, I got to hang out.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
I hung up.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
I didn't hang up, I didn't stay to try to listen.
But I was like, oh boy, this is weird.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
This is juicy.

Speaker 7 (11:40):
My own of my old supervisors was talking about me
on Slack and.

Speaker 6 (11:45):
Didn't know that I was on the channel.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
Oh, I've gotten that before, where like someone has texted
the wrong person, like this happened a couple of years ago.
Somebody texted somebody else about like my wife or about us,
but they sent it to my wife and so she
was like, it sounds like they're talking about.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Us, and this didn't This wasn't supposed to count to us.

Speaker 6 (12:09):
Oh I don't like that.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
That was awkward.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Yeah, all right, So I did put it up on
our Facebook. If you've overheard anything kind of awkward lately,
we want to know about it. Also, I'm just getting
ready to put up you know, your votes for single SmackDown.
If you want to go to Facebook or Facebook, you
can vote on there there if you'd like to. We've
got Luke Brian love you mission mean it. This is

(12:32):
the new number one country song this week. You're always
welcome to call us with Your Stories Too at eight
hundred and three two one thirty six ninety three. Luke Brun.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
We were a small town man to be. My mama
loved her, Her daddy loved me too.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Stiff Moore five minutes till seven o'clock.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
It's Nashville News Now with st. Pierre on ninety three.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
Point one WPOC. Congratulations to Luke Bryan and his team.
His love You Miss You Mean It is sitting on
top of the country charts this week, rounding out the
top three year post Malone and Blake Shelton's Pour Me
a Drink at number two, and Jelly Rolls I Am
Not Okay at number three. Country and country adjacent artists
are still stepping up to help out the victims of
Hurricane Helene. Sturgill Simpson announced that he'll be holding a

(13:23):
benefit concert later this month in North Carolina, with all
the proceeds going to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund.
He was previously scheduled to play Asheville, North Carolina, as
part of his tour, but clearly that's not going to
happen for obvious reasons, so he's moved the venue and
he's decided to donate all the money from that Dolly parton.
She's also come out of a massive donation. This is huge,
So yeah, Dolly herself announces that she will personally donate

(13:46):
one million dollars to relief efforts, but then her various
properties and business ventures, including Dollywood, they're going to match it.
So there's a couple million dollars coming from Dolly and
her whole thing. This money is going to go to
the Mountain Ways Foundation. It's a nonprofit dedicated to provide
immediate assistance to Helene flood victims.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
The flooding.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
As much as we've seen so much about North Carolina,
the flooding also had a big impact in the area
around Dollywood as well, so that area has been very
hit hard. She also announced that Dollywood would act a
they drop off location for donations. She's donated a semi
truck full of water, as well as safety items like
reusable masks, protective garments, and disposable masks for cleanup efforts
across East Tennessee. She was holding I guess it's sort

(14:24):
of a press conference at a Walmart in Newport, Tennessee
when they made this announcement, and the President and CEO
of Walmart, was on hand for the event. He says
his company has committed ten million dollars to relief efforts
across all the affected states, as well as using the
stores parking lots in different areas to provide resources for
the folks there. So just continued to see all this
love going out there and people stepping up to help out.

(14:44):
And I'm sure we'll hear more about it from Florida
after this week because it's just another hurricane coming on
for those folks. So yeah, I'd love to see people
stepping up and using their money for good.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
I'm with you. It's just been overwhelming how many people
have responded. Here's Dustin Lynch.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Today's Best Country ninety three point one w POC Baltimore
Now Top Stories at the top of the hour.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
If you're a fan of watching the defense in a
football game, the Ravens game was not your game yesterday.
I think the defense for both teams kind of forgot
that they had a game in Cincinnati. Lamar Jackson threw
for three hundred and forty eight yards and four touchdowns,
while Joe Burrow threw for three ninety two and five touchdowns.
It was really the definition of a shootout in Cincinnati
that ultimately went to overtime thanks to a late game

(15:31):
field goal from Justin Tucker to tie things up. The
Bengals had a chance to get the win, but the
holder botched it. And since he's kicker missed the field goal,
you know, I wanted the Ravens to win, of course,
but there was an element of like feeling bad for
that because like it wasn't even the kicker's fault, like
they just totally missed the catch. But that opened the
door for Derek Kennery to show up with a fifty
one yard run to put Baltimore in place for a Tucker.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Game winner. Was Baltimore's third win in a row.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
Now they find themselves at the top of the AFC
North Division thanks to a loss by the Steelers.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Last night.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
Pittsburgh struggled against Dallas and lost their second game in
a row. So now Baltimore's there at the top. It's
one other AFC North news. The Brown struggles continued as
they face the Commander's Washington's defense stepped up while the
Commander's run game continue to stomp on people. Jade and
Daniel is just having himself a great start to his
rookie season as quarterback.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Too.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
Next week is the Ravens and Commanders here at M
and T Bank Stadium, and that is going to be
the big game of the week. I think a lot
of people have that one circled right now as the
game to watch next week. So I'm excited that It's
not often that we have both of the teams playing
so well when they meet each other. Usually one of
them is sort of on the downward swing or struggling.
So this is going to be big next week. So

(16:38):
sure that fantasy team I actually got. I think I'm
going to pull out the victory in both leagues this week. Okay,
had some good I had some good games this weekend
for my guys I had.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
You're feeling good about it? I can tell that's great.
All right. We've got post Malone and Morgan Wallen and
I had some help. Ninety three point one.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Geez, somebody's dog.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Strew Baldridge, Today's best Country. We're ninety three point one
w POC. Thanks everybody who kind of responded to the
blessing or curse. You know what, what is it in
your life you feel as a blessing or curse. Karen said,
living in Florida, that's a great one. Oh a great one.
Cell phones. Yeah, I get it. And of course Dan

(17:45):
had to say women, Okay, Dan, whatever, come on Dan,
all right, I'm.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
Sure he's great.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Yeah, I'm sure he's perfect. All right. So weekend updates.
I know, I finally found an art and craft show
to go to over the weekend. I was very excited
about that. I feel like everybody tried to go out
on the weekend, didn't you find that everywhere you went
it was like we were so glad that it wasn't raining. Yah,
it was just busy.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
You buy.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
I didn't buy anything. I actually didn't buy anything, but
I did see some lovely stuff. It was really crowded.
I went like late in the morning, and I kind
of realized that everybody who wanted to go to it
went in the morning because there was a one o'clock
Ravens game, so it was really hard to get up
to the different booths so I could look over everybody's shoulder,

(18:34):
like to see what there was. But I really don't
always buy. Sometimes I do. Sometimes I just go to
see what people are creating. I just think it's kind
of interesting. I also went to a concert on Friday night.
A local guy was performing and I went to that.
So look at me out there just doing things.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
Wow, what a busy weekend.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
Yeah, just swapped save Pierre. You you had your big
They brought the big dumpster over to your neighborhood.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
Yeah, Dumpster Day in my neighborhood. It was a success.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
I think I was the very first person there on Saturday,
which we I kind of had to do because we
had soccer for my daughter, and I was like, Okay,
I've got like a twenty minute window to get all
this stuff out of the dumpster.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
You're ready.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
We got to make it happen. Yes, got everything loaded up.
It was great. One of my favorite days of the year.
We caught we had soccer.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Then we caught the Towson football game on Saturday night,
which was a lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
Oh nice.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Yeah, I've never done a football game there, which I
was like, well, I don't know why we don't do
this more often. This is yeah, yeah, like and it's
not not like crazy pat which is unfortunate. I'm sure
the guys would love to play for more people. But
it was a fun environment, very family friendly and just
a good time.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Okay, so you didn't take anything out of the dumpster,
like there wasn't anything in there. You saw that really.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
I mean I understand people go dumpster diving. I know
it's like a yeah, write a passage for people, but
like I, once something's in the trash, I'm kind of like, yeah,
it's good. It's in the trash.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
It's very good. What about you, Bethany, what was your weekend?

Speaker 7 (19:58):
Like? Oh, it was like maybe top ten weekends of
the year.

Speaker 6 (20:02):
Wow, so good.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
We should have come to you first.

Speaker 7 (20:06):
No, I mean I wish that they I wish that
there were like more highlights to share. But it was
really low key, like I just was. It was like
a slow weekend.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
You didn't have a bunch of stuff you had to do.

Speaker 8 (20:17):
Oh.

Speaker 7 (20:17):
I just did whatever we wanted to do and took
care of my plants and watched below deck.

Speaker 6 (20:24):
It was like super fun.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
I love that.

Speaker 8 (20:28):
I know.

Speaker 6 (20:28):
All right, I'm like, all I'm cheesing about it.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Yeah, I can tell I can feel it. I can
feel you were very relaxed and enjoyed the time to
be relaxed. Okay, if you want to tell us about
your weekend, you can text us seventy seventy nine six two.
Tell us what your weekend was like. We'd love to hear.
Start with higher egg. Here's Kenny Chansney and all the
pretty girls.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
All the training girls said me a eddie. All the
training girls said, I'm going. All the pretty girls said.

Speaker 7 (21:03):
I hate.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Talking to the mirror. And they're underwhere.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Today's Best Country ninety three point one w POC, Baltimore
now top stories at the top of the hour number.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
Fifty counties in Florida are under a state of emergency
as the state plans for the impact from Hurricane Milton.
Some areas are already being evacuated right now. The storm
is expected to become a major hurricane today. Forecaster states
moving relatively slow eastward right now, but it is expected
to pick up speed tomorrow. Storm surge and hurricane watches
will likely be issued for parts of Florida today. The

(21:41):
National Hurricane Center expects Milton to make landfall on the
western coast of Florida on Wednesday. They're thinking just southwest
of Tampa will be the direct hit. This part of
the state was just hit pretty hard by Hurricane Helen
less than two weeks ago, so it should be an
interesting thing to watch. This just our thoughts, Squader, what
are you dealing with? Another hurricane? Does kind of feel
like there's been a little bit of extra hurricane activity
a little later in the season this year. Hurricane season

(22:03):
does run from June first through November thirtieth, but the
peak of heighten activity is usually from August into October.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations is a typical hurricane
season in the Atlantic will usually see around fourteen named storms,
of which seven become hurricanes and three become major hurricanes.
As of right now, eight hurricanes have formed in the Atlantic,
with Milton becoming the thirteenth name storm of the season.

(22:25):
So it just it seems like it's a pretty general
year right now. It just seems like we've had a
lot in the last few weeks. Weight loss drugs like
Ozeppe and we gov seemed to have slowed America's obesity epidemic.
The US adult obesity rate has been climbing rapidly for
the last few decades, but that stocked between twenty twenty
and twenty twenty three, in fact, get dropped by two points.
No official cause for this, but experts believe it does

(22:45):
have to do with the introduction of the weight loss drugs.
They say one in eight American adults have used these drugs,
which I do find very hard to believe that twelve
percent of the population has asked them.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
I mean, I know a lot of people that are
doing it, but I don't know that i'd is that many.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
Yeah, I mean, I don't know if enough people have
the kind of health insurance coverage to get them. Yeah,
plus the shortages on top of that, so that seems
like a very high number. But you know, hey, if
it's helping out in some ways, I guess that's great news.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
That's a US up, David.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
All right, coming up on your brief, Bethany.

Speaker 7 (23:14):
We have a new richest female musician of all time
that I'll tell you about, plus a new movie coming
soon that I'm super excited about.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
All Right, we'll stick around. Here's post Malone, look like Shelton.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
I'm on Buddy Mommy and Jake.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Post Malone, Blake Shelton. It's nine minutes after eight.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
I keep us in the loop of entertainment and pop
culture and the things we shouldn't care about, but somehow
we really knew.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
As Bethany brief on ninety three point one.

Speaker 7 (23:53):
I'm searching for a fall cocktail, and this morning I
stumbled across Swiss Miss Marshmallow whiskey that, oh wait a minute,
that sounds pretty great. So I might have to try
that out. I will keep you posted, all right. So
Anne Hathaway is returning to Genovia. Princess Diaries three has

(24:14):
been confirmed, and Hathaway will once again star as the
Genovian Royalty Queen.

Speaker 6 (24:21):
So I'm excited. She's going to produce it too.

Speaker 7 (24:23):
We don't know if Julie Andrews will be making it
or not, but I really hope.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
So we were talking last week about stars or people
that have like aged, Well, Anne Hathaway is like the
top of my list.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
I think she is stunning.

Speaker 7 (24:36):
Oh you know, I saw Found you know that show.
It's like an NBC show. Oh yeah, Mark Paul Gossler
is on there.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Oh yeah that.

Speaker 6 (24:44):
I was like he I don't know how he didn't
come up last week, but Zach Morris come on.

Speaker 7 (24:49):
Madonna's brother Christopher died of cancer on Friday, and I
and I feel like her mom are her stepmom who
like stepped into the role of her mom.

Speaker 6 (24:58):
Died like three weeks ago, so I just feel you know.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
That's a lot.

Speaker 6 (25:02):
Yeah, I'm feeling feeling bad for her.

Speaker 7 (25:05):
So lebron James and his son Bronni made NBA history
last night when they played together for the first time.
It was Bronnie's twentieth birthday and it was the LA
Lakers preseason game against Phoenix.

Speaker 6 (25:17):
So I don't know. I am interested to see how
this goes.

Speaker 7 (25:20):
I feel like, maybe he's not going to be that
great at basketball.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
But he's probably not going to be like a Rookie
of the Year.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
But I think there's more, there's more for the league
and having this story than there is in him being
a great player, right, Like it's a good pr thing.
It'll bring some fans into the stands. Like it's just
it's a good moment more than it is like, hey,
we have the best player.

Speaker 7 (25:41):
No, it's not also a really good moment for nepotism,
you know what I mean? Sure, really great, Okay. Taylor
Swift is the world's richest female musician. Her net worth
is currently one point six billion dollars. She surpassed Rihanna,
who is now worth one point four billion dollars.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
I do think that's well because Ranna's stuff beauty. Yeah,
it's all tied into clothing and beauty. Like, I feel
like there has to be a separation of like music
versus other outlets, right, Like when they say Sophia Bergara
was the highest paid person on TV for so long,
it's like, well, because she had all the endorsements outside
of TV, Like I wonder, Like, yeah, it's like I
wonder if you separate the things, like who is the

(26:18):
most like the wealthiest musician, right.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
Taylor wins, And I don't think anybody is surprised.

Speaker 6 (26:23):
Yeah, no, she's the second richest.

Speaker 7 (26:26):
Musician overall, behind Jay Z, who's reportedly worth two point
five billion. I just feel I don't know how these
people are gonna get groceries, you know what I mean.
I just feels to be tough. I feel bad for them.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
All right, coming up here in a few minutes, I
know we were talking about blessings and curses, things that
are both earlier this morning. We've got tickets to give
away to Bennett's Curse. We've got four tickets, so if
you like to be a little scared, we'll give you
some info here in just a few minutes on how
you can win four tickets to go to that. We
do have a mostly sunny forecasts going to the mid seventies.

(27:01):
Today it's sixty one right now, ninety three point one,
ninety eight three point one w POC. It's old Dominion.
We've got Bob Delman in the house, ladies and Joe.

Speaker 7 (27:14):
Okay, all right now, okayto nice weekend away.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (27:20):
I went to my college that I went to in Indiana, Pennsylvania,
and they had a big reunion for the college station there,
which is a big part of my time there. And
it was like fifty years and we had a lot
of people come in from different classes, my class, so
it was good to see, you know, some old faces.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
It was awesome.

Speaker 9 (27:40):
And the friday when I got in there, they did
a thing with the alumni where they sat in tables
and they talked to students who are in communications media
in the school to ya know, the separate tables for
the me to like a TV table at real.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Was at the radio table.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Yeah, of course.

Speaker 7 (27:53):
Oh.

Speaker 9 (27:53):
We talked to the students just about you know, what
they're doing in school. And afterwards we were an inspiration.

Speaker 3 (27:59):
I don't know about that, but it was a very
nice weekend. It was great.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
It's just funny. When you said, yeah, we saw some
you know, old faces we haven't seen in a while,
I thought, look, you get to look at an old face.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
Walk on.

Speaker 9 (28:11):
No, what you look the same as when I saw
you at twenty five.

Speaker 5 (28:15):
Right.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Somebody I bumped into the other day said that, oh
you haven't changed a bit. I thought, oh, you are
so longing.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
Let me bought some pictures. Okay, let's see.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
If you are so lying, I cannot trust you. All right, Well,
we're glad you're back and that you had a great
time today. National Bathtub Day. I just thought i'd throw
it in because that is a happy day for anybody
who loves the bathroom.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
H God, I know you don't.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
Okay, did you watch SNL West over the weekend?

Speaker 3 (28:43):
Just a few in the beginning, Yeah, Okay.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
Nate BARGATSI your fat He's so funny. I really like him.

Speaker 8 (28:49):
I don't know a lot about food, all right. First
time I had raspberry forty years old. Forty years old,
first time I had raspberry, I said it at the port.

Speaker 6 (28:59):
I was like, what is this?

Speaker 3 (29:01):
And they go the bowl?

Speaker 8 (29:03):
That's that's how much they figured, well, clearly knows where
raspberry is. It makes more sense for him not to.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Know what a bowl is.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
And Dollie, you've heard that she's donating a ton of
money to help folks who are victims. Yes, Helene, but
she's also rewritten Joline Helen, Helen, Helene Heley, you came
in here and broke as a Oh that's a much
more depressing wrong.

Speaker 7 (29:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
But anyway, she's always stepping up. It feels like she is.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
She's everywhere. Yeah, always doing something good for.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
Other Dolly and I love that. Speaking of doing good,
I just thought I would mention this is the big
week that retailers are kicking off holiday sales. Okay, so
I'm gonna give you the rundown real quick. Target. It
is Target Circle Week now through October twelfth, and so
you gets special deals. Cole's Three Days of Deals starts

(30:03):
today and runs through Wednesday. Walmart's Holiday Deals event starts
tomorrow and goes to the thirteenth, and then Amazon's Prime
Big Deal Days sale is happening tomorrow and Wins.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
We gotta think about Christmas shopping.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
I know you got to get it on it, but
you're prepared.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
You usually you're not doing anything. I know. Wow, I'm
in such trouble.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
Usually you're the one that makes me feel like I'm behind.
But you've done nothing.

Speaker 9 (30:30):
Well, I do, just because I never get it all done,
even by the end of because there's so many people to.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
Buy for a lot of things.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
Yeah yeah, so we got to get it on our
toy with like a lot of things. So she does
have a list for.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
You, Yes, I do. Okay, just give me some ideas.

Speaker 1 (30:47):
And you got her covered down all right. Here's Nate
