Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, welcome to the Lori de Young Show podcast. If
you missed our show today, we're sorry about that, but

it tomorrow every weekday morning from five till ten, or
on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Today's Best Country ninety three point one w POC Baltimore
Now top stories at the top of the hour.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Happy Monday.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
You may have smelled some smoke when you went outside
this morning. That's due to wildfires in Aberdeen. The smoke
is hanging over us today and is prompted a Code
Orange air quality alert at times today it could spike
to Code red status as well. Besides the smoke, sunny
skies and near normal hids around sixty four degrees continue Tomorrow,
we'll warm back up. We'll see about seventy five degrees tomorrow.
Then Wednesday we could see a record high, with highest

(00:44):
expected to be right around eighty degrees. We might actually
see some rain on Thursday too, which will be nice
because we've had hardly any rain over the last month
or so. Still very dry across the state right now.
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources and acted a statewide
ban on open air burning over the weekend, and that
remains in effect until further notice. The Maryland Forest Service
says the band will be lifted once there's been enough

(01:05):
precipitation to reduce the thread of wildfires. Since October first,
the Forest Services responded to more than twenty four wildfires
across the state, along with you know what I mentioned
just a second ago about these wildfires in Aberdeen that
are currently borning right now. Baltimore found a way to
bounce back after last week's loss, so they commanding victory
over the visiting Broncos yesterday. Eric Henry and Lamar Jackson

(01:26):
led the team as they went on to a forty
one to ten win. Henry had one hundred and six
yards in the ground and two touchdowns. He actually passed
Hall of Famer Barry Sanders on the all time rushing
touchdowns list with his second score of the game. Lamar
Jackson had two hundred and eighty yards and three touchdowns,
two of those going to save Flowers. Baltimore improves the
six and three on the season now while the Bengals
are getting ready to head here for a Thursday night matchup,

(01:47):
so they only have a couple days here to prepare
for their next game.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
That's your news update, all right, before we get to
Morgan Wallan, tell us what's coming up on your brief Bethany?

Speaker 4 (01:54):
All right, So an it girl in Hollywood has come out,
and I'll tell you who. And we lost a legend
and I'll tell you all about him.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
All right. We've got Morgan Wallen first with Lives Lives Love.
It's Morgan Wallan and it's seven minutes after six.

Speaker 5 (02:17):
To keep us in the loop of entertainment and pop
culture and the things we shouldn't care about, but somehow
we really do. It's Bethany brie On ninety three point
one w poc so.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Quincy Jones, one of the most accomplished and influential figures
in the music world for more than fifty years, died
yesterday surrounded by his family. He was ninety one. He
was nominated for seventy nine Grammys. He won twenty seven
of them for his work as a band leader, composer,
and arranger. He worked with Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington. He

(02:49):
did Thriller with Michael Jackson. He was one of the
founders for the Institute for Black American Music. He was
a civil rights activist and supporter of Martin Luther King Junior.
He was married three times and had seven kids, including
Quincy Jones the third and of course Rashida Jones.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
That's right, Rashida Jones. Yeah, so that's a sad day
for it.

Speaker 6 (03:09):
What a legendary like music career.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Gosh, oh, it's kind of insane. He worked on so
many movie scores. It's really a lot of work, all right.
Chloe great Maretz publicly came out as gay on Instagram
when she endorsed Kamala Harris for president. She said, as
a gay woman, I believe that I need legal protections.
And she's been linked to model Kate Harrison for several years,
so I guess it's been a rumor in the Hollywood circles,

(03:34):
but she has confirmed it.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Meanwhile, Jason Kelsey was.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Caught on camera on Saturday smashing the phone of a
Penn State student who hurled a home of PHO book
slur at his brother Travis for dating Tailor Swift. So
I guess he still hasn't grown up yet. No official
reports on the incident from campus police, but there are
videos floating around.

Speaker 6 (03:56):
No good for him, stand up for his brother.

Speaker 7 (03:58):
You think so?

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Yeah? I'm like, come on, grow up, right, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (04:03):
I don't have a problem with it.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Like if someone's gonna be that brazen to come up
to you and start like slinging slurs at you and
your family, Like, I don't have a problem with you
breaking the kid's phone.

Speaker 6 (04:11):
Look, I don't.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
I'm sure he's going to pay for it to get replaced.
Yeah he Jason, come by.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
I don't. I don't know.

Speaker 6 (04:16):
I don't think you have to just because you're a
public figure.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
I don't think you have to take abuse from people
that think they can be so one.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Thing to speak up and say something, but to smash
somebody's phone seems kind of.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
My impression of this situation, and I have not seen
the video of it, is that this kid was trying
to catch Jason Kelsey in a situation and was probably
filming it. So Jason was like, I'm going to take
the phone and I'm gonna snatch I imagine it was a gotcha.
I want to post this on TikTok. I want to
become famous, yea yeah. So Jason's like, yeah, I'll take
your Yeah you want to take a video, here's a
video for you.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Meet smashing your phone.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Tom Cruise is in early talks to star in a
sequel to the nineteen nineties Days of Thunder, So that
is happening. And James Van, known for his role in
Dawson's Creek, has been diagnosed with cole rectal cancer, currently
receiving treatment and feeling good.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
He says he has six kids with his wife Kimberly.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
My gosh, I know, and he's determined to help others
facing the same challenge. He's going to be in that
two hour special on Fox in December, the Real Full Monty.

Speaker 7 (05:20):
Have you guys?

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Did I tell you guys about this South.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
It's where a whole bunch of Meal celebrities are going
to strip down and raise awareness for prostate, testicular and
coorectal cancer and testing and research. So looking forward to
that in December just seems so extreme. I think you
can get your message across. But if you've got bath
that he's attention. Yeah, if you're gonna do it naked,

(05:43):
I'll watch I will watch it.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Yeah, all right, coming up, I saw this, and we've
talked about this kind of thing before on our show.
But something you think you're better at than the average person.
We also have our single smackdowns.

Speaker 6 (05:57):
Oh right.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
They never really talked about that, so we'll all that
as soon as we figure it out. We've got a
partly sunny forecast. It looks like about sixty four degrees Mida.
It's sale Hunt ninety three point one WPOC and it's
six twenty two lady.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Jo.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Yeah, we were just trying to think of a good
theme for today and Dollywood over there in Tennessee, Dollywood
went Christmas, so we thought, why don't we have a
Dolly single smack Let's have some fun with this. There's
so many legendary songs to choose from, Laurie take it away.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Yeah, because it was Dollywood Winter Wonderland, Christmas time over
over the weekend, I went with hard candy Christmas for sure.

Speaker 6 (06:44):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (06:45):
It makes sense, Bethany I decided to go with a
cute little duet we all like to know as Islands
in the Street karaoke favorite.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
Kenny Rogers joins Dolly for this one that was originally,
I guess, supposed to be recorded by Diana Ross.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Oh okay, look at your little Triviayeah. I know that
I was actually sitting here thinking I might pick that song.
The Bethany was like, I want Islands in the Stream.
I was like, all right, well, in order to compete
with hard Candy Christmas and Islands in the Stream that
there's only one way.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
You can go, and that is Joline. That's a legend.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
So I'm going to go with Jolie nine. I could have.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
I could have, but I wanted to go with Joline.
So we're taking that one. You could place your vote
in multiple different ways. So when you want to get
ready to vote for Joline, just head on over to
our Instagram at wpoc and tap little Joline, you know
button on the on the stories.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Yeah, you can do that, or you could vote on
our Facebook, or you could call us eight hundred three
to one thirty six ninety three, or you can text right, Yeah, you.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
Can text Islands in the Stream, but just begin your
message with high or hay seven seven nine sixty two
is the number and won't like I said, it won't
get to us unless you start with high or hay.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Right, So we want to make sure to get all
your votes. So over the weekend or I guess it
was last week, Reddit was asking people what's something you
think you're better at than the average person, and a
lot of people responded. So I'm going to read a
couple of these and then I want to hear it
from you guys. Someone said napping cutting my own hair.

(08:19):
I don't know how anybody can do that, Like, if
you can't see in the back, how do you. I'm
sure there's a mirror situation and all that, but that
just seems like a lot to me. Okay, let's see
what else. Procrastination somebody said, I'm perfect at procrastination. Let's
see knowing how to step away from the internet. Okay,

(08:43):
somebody said. Another person said they're good at speaking different languages.
It comes quick to them. Wow, I thought overthinking would
be mine today. Okay, I think I better than anybody
at that, just overthinking everything. What about you, guys.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
I think I'm definitely way better at picking restaurants than
most people.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
Oh, okay, that's a good one.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
In fact, when I was visiting my family last week,
I had had enough about I don't know Thursday, I
was forget it. I'm picking the food for the rest
of the time.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Guys, I'm not good at this. Gross. My husband's always like,
do you think we should just go out eat, I'll go, well,
I don't know, I could find something here and I like,
I'll get a can of soup or something. He's looking
at me like that is not what I always thinking.
So yeah, people can use help on what to eat.

(09:37):
What about you, spe I don't don't know.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
I think I'm pretty good at going with the flow,
because there there are a lot of times we're like
I genuinely don't care about what we do. Like my
wife will say, what do you want for dinner? As
an example, since we're talking about that, and I'm like,
I genuinely don't care like I and she always like
you have to have an opinion, like I don't have
an opinion, Like if you if there's something that you want,
let me know, Like I'll go with the time. I
can be perfectly fine with that. I think I'm pretty

(09:59):
good just kind of going with it.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Like that's pretty easy going. I think, all right. I
like that. Let's see, we've already had votes coming in
on our single SmackDown we Do. I got a bunch
of hard candy Christmas votes on Facebook?

Speaker 4 (10:11):
Of course, how do I only have one vote on text?
Uh huh, that's not gonna work.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Wait, what how many have come in? Just several several? Yeah, okay,
all right, so don't forget to vote on our singles,
smack them. But we want to know what you think
you're better at than anybody else. I have a call
coming in, so maybe somebody's hot to go on that.
But you can how are you can also text us
seven seventy nine six ' two again, just start with

(10:38):
high or hey. They've taken those thoughts over the next
few minutes. Here's George Burn. Don't call me missies please,
I got a fan. It's Luke Bryan ninety three point

(11:04):
one w POC. People are hot to vote today.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
I took a couple of phone calls. Let's see what
he wanted to hear, Joline. Then I got this, Yeah,
good morning.

Speaker 6 (11:15):
I want to do it.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
I listen to your guys every morning.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
Love you guys.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
Oh, thank you. So you're you're picking islands in the stream.

Speaker 8 (11:22):
Absolutely, I love you guys.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Every morning you read one day. Oh you're very kind.
You have a wonderful Monday, and thanks for listening. Take care.
That's a posular to hear, young lady. He is wound up.
He's had some coffee today. I love that. And then
on Facebook I got two for Islands and I got
two for Joline. So people are just ready to vote.
What about on our text someone voted for ninety five.

(11:46):
Oh not a choice, but thank you, but a good song.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Someone has said about what are you better at than
everyone else? Someone said I'm better at people pleasing than
anyone else to a fault okay. Someone else said I'm
better at cleaning than anyone else. Okay, so I got
to come to my house and prove it. I got
avoiding debt. I'm better at avoiding debt than anyone. Somebody
said I returned my grocery cart to the corral every time. Okay.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Somebody else said solving a Rubic's cube that they're really
good at them. Okay, I never mastered that one. All right,
Uh what about Instagram? Saint Pierre, have you been looking
at any of the votes to say, yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Islands has a very I mean, I mean we've had
like six votes, but Islands has a slight lead here
so far.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
Okay, that's right, everybody making the right choice.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Now we're talking. All right, Well, there's still lots of
time to vote. There's posts below like Shelling.

Speaker 9 (12:49):
Going down my Map, Dads, dropped Nothing Game, No Time
Call Tick, Speeding Down, sixty five Coming Scale, Zach Brown Band.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
It is six minutes till seven o'clock.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
It's Nashville News Now with Saint Pierre on ninety three
point one WPOC.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
All right, so congratulations to Jelly Roll on his team.
They are on top of the country charts with the
song i Am Not Okay. It's the first single from
his latest album Ed. I'm sure there will be more
number ones from the album as well, also Jelly's fifth
number one song, so congrats to him. The rest of
the top three includes Morgan Wallin at number two with
Lies Lies Lies, and Caine Brown falling down to number
three after topping the chart last week. All right, so

(13:39):
now ont of the big news. People have been asking
us if we're doing our annual Saint Jude concert again
this year, and yes, we finally have the details, We
finally have things secured, so we are doing it. Our
Saint Jude jingle y'all is officially on some market calendars
for December fifth, because we're gonna be out at ram
Said Live once again, having some fun and raising money
for Saint Jude Children's Research.

Speaker 6 (13:59):
Hospital.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Joining us this year for the show will be Chris Lane.
Excited to have him back in Baltimore. It's been a
minute since he's been here. George Burge will be on
the line up. He's here for Sunday in the Country
last year and just really has got some great songs
out there. And newcomer Chase Matthew, who's got his own
little following, which I think is great.

Speaker 6 (14:17):
So we're excited.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
Well, Kim, we're going to have some more announced soon
as well, but that's what we're starting right now. Chris Lane,
George Burge, and Chase Matthew. Tickets are going to go
on sale Friday morning at Ramsheadlive dot com. This is
going to be our last event at rams Head Live,
I know, because the venue is closing.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Guest to wrap it up.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
I know it's going to close down in the middle
of December there, so we're going to do one last
big party and we'd love for you guys to join
us for this year's Saint Jude Jingle Ya again. Chris Lane,
George Burrs, Chase Matthew and more on the way soon,
all at rams Head Live December fifth.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
We're excited. Yeah, you can say I was there. I
was there for the last show. I always remember what
painters Mel used to do when it existed, used to
do concerts there, and I was there for the last one. Yeah,
so it was always like it was a historic moment.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
I know, it's kind of sad to know that Ram
said Live is going away in its current form anyway,
and we'll be able to celebrate all the great memories
you've had and raise money for Saint Jude Children's Research
Hospital at the same time.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
Yeah, that'll be a party, nice party, all right. Warren
Zeider's Pretty Little Poison ninety three point one w POC.

Speaker 9 (15:23):
Even in a maths tund selass no Samon Rules.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Is gone, Ricko on ething laying a memories and.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Zalgambay used to be should probably be Today's Best Country
ninety three point one w POC.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Baltimore now top stories at the top of the hour.
A right, So.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
Baltimore found a way to bounce back and get back
to form, and yesterday's big win over the Broncos, Derrick
Henry and Lamar Jackson did what they've done so many
times this season.

Speaker 6 (15:59):
Both dominated opening up opportunities for the other.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
Henry passed Hall of Famer Barry Sanders on the all
time rushing touchdown list. With his second touchdown on the game,
oh Lamar continued to make his case for another MVP Trophy.
So next tipt for Baltimore, it's a visit from the
Bengals on Thursday nights. Let's talk about what they did yesterday.
Cincinnati also had themselves a game. Joe Burrow threw for
five touchdowns as the Bengals beat Las Vegas forty one

(16:23):
to twenty four. After having a disastrous started the season,
Cincinnati has bounced back to a four and five record.

Speaker 6 (16:29):
They'll be looking to even that up on Thursday.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Six losses kind of might be the limit for teams
looking to make the playoffs this year, so the Bengals
are definitely going to be fighting. Always a good game
when you get the Raves the Bengals matching up, especially
in primetime football, So we'll have a good game coming
our way on Thursday.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
Did you go to the tailgate?

Speaker 4 (16:45):
I did?

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Okay, did you stay for the game?

Speaker 10 (16:47):
No?

Speaker 6 (16:47):
No, just at the tailgate then went home.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
I didn't know for sure, but I thought that would
be an exciting game to be at. So the weather
was perfect everything.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
Yeah, we always say we have enough time with a
babysitter to get either the tailgate or the game, so
we can't pick both pick and shoes. So we did
the ja they said yesterday and some other AFSC North
Division news. The Steelers had the week off for their
bye weeks. They were not in action. The Browns they
couldn't capture the magic for two weeks in a row.
They got beat up by the Chargers with Los Angeles
winning twenty seven to ten. And then for our friends
that are big Commanders fans, jayde and Daniels threw two

(17:16):
touchdowns as the Commanders beat the Giants for the second
time this season. Final score was twenty seven to twenty two.
Washington proves to a seven to two record on the season.
I think it's their best start. It's went like thirty years.
They get the Steelers next week, so a big game
coming up for them next week. That's your new up date.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
All right. We've got Thomas Rhett tickets. He's going to
be at Jiffy Loube Live next summer on August twenty second.
If you want to go to the show Caller nine,
the tickets are yours eight hundred and three two one
thirty six ninety three. Our here's Bailey's Simmerman with where
it at? It's Dustin Lange jelly roll one w poc.

(18:01):
I did notice today that November is International Drum Month. Okay,
made me think of your daughter's drumming. How's it going
over there? Going? All right?

Speaker 3 (18:10):
We got like those little like muting paths for them,
so it's not quite as ear splitting when she just
decides to go full on animal on there and just go.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
She hasn't lost interest in it yet.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
No, she's still playing them. I think we're gonna move
the drums out of the living room of the house
and to another space, so I'm sure there will be
a little bit of a different but it's not like
sitting there staring her in the face.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
I thought you were going to say, we're going to
move them to outdoors. Yes, all right, So let's talk
a little bit about the workplace. And the best thing
about your workplace I can tell you it's not the coffee.
Let me just start there, because I counted I had
a coffee nightmare over the weekend, so I thought I'll

(18:52):
just I'll just get the coffee at work. And now
I know why I never do that, because it is
terrible to thinking about it. You know, there's a lot
of things you could say about our workplace. I think
we have good snacks.

Speaker 6 (19:06):
Oh, we do have snacks.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
I think is ultimately even better, which we never had before.
I mean before the old place you had to go
to the vending machine.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
I think they realized that they were paying just as
much to have a vending machine yes in the building,
as they would if they just bulk bought some snacks.

Speaker 6 (19:23):
So that's yeah, so I went with snacks.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
That was my choice. The best thing about the workplace,
same Pier.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
I kind of like that our workplace is smaller because
when there's less room to do things, there's less expectation
that you're just going to linger around.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Oh yeah, you want to get out of here?

Speaker 3 (19:39):
I'm fine with god. I mean, because I could do
all of my most of my work I could do
from homes. Like it's much easier to do the show
here in person, obviously, but like to do other things
that I do, it's just as easy to do it
at home as it is to do it here. And
once this show is over, essentially the studios are used
up by other people, So there's not really an expectation that, like,
you'll hang out. Yeah, I mean I think that there's

(20:00):
I think there is an expect I should change that.
I should say there is an expectation from certain bosses
just because they want to see people in the office.

Speaker 6 (20:06):
But there's no like they're not going to be coirement.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Yeah, there's no required firement. Yeah yeah, Dethinie, what about you.
I think it's a really clean and aesthetically pleasing thing. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
I've worked in some radio stations that were kind of
a dumpy dumpy, so this is quite lovely.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Okay, all right, beautiful. If you want to tell us
the best thing about your workplace, you can text us
seven seven nine six two, just start with high or hey,
I've got it up on our Facebook page, so you
can also post something if you'd like to do that.
I was just going to look and see. Okay, we
do have a couple of comments on our Facebook. So

(20:46):
my boss is a little demanding at times, but she
is my beautiful granddaughter. Somebody takes care of their granddaughter.
I thought that was cute the way they said that
my boss is a little demanding. She throws Tantra, but
she is my granddaughter. So she set a picture of
this little baby host. Okay, let's see Melissa. They treat

(21:09):
us as equals, regardless of title or degree. We're respected
and we're treated like adults.

Speaker 6 (21:14):
That's good.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
So there's no micromanagement, there's no gas lighting like I
had in my last job. Oh, she said, we have
a voice in most things. That's kind of nice. Sharon
likes that she's got coworkers who support each other and
work as a team. Yeah, okay, all right, so those
are nice. So we've got it on Facebook, but you
can text us or call us. Eight hundred and three

(21:36):
two one thirty six ninety three. The best thing about
your workplace? What is it? It's good on a Monday
as you going back into the workplace, maybe to think
about it. Last it's k Brown with Marshmallow ninety three
point one WPOC. I've been watching the Lioness Special Ops

(22:01):
second season. There are three different episodes out and I
think I just watched mostly because of Zoe Saldana because
I like her so much, and Nicole Kidman's in it too.
There's a lot of people you'd recognize, have you Either
one of you guys watched that show. Okay, yeah, so
we're into that. I didn't like the latest episode a
whole lot, but I think it's just overall pretty good show.

(22:24):
Pretty good show. I also liked the Nobody Wants This.
I watched that show. I thought that was pretty entertaining.
Have you guys been watching anything that you would recommend
to others? Well, I spent the week at the hospital
my dad.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
I don't know if anyone else's parents do this, but
they put a very terrible show on the television and
then fall asleep.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
Yes, yeah, okay, great that happens with my husband.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
Okay, I just want to make sure I wasn't alone.
I was like, boy, I don't want to watch this.
You have the remote in your hand. But I yesterday
watched Martha Stewart documentary, did you Yeah?

Speaker 1 (23:02):
And I drank that in That was very very interesting. Yeah,
she wasn't. We were talking last week about how she
wasn't very happy with the second half of it. She
didn't like the ending. There were certain things she was
speaking out about. Thought they spent too much time on
the jail thing. She said, in my whole life, it
was a very small part of it, but you know,

(23:23):
it's obviously the thing that gets people's attention I want
to hear about. Like a lot of documentaries, I feel
like they rushed the ending a little.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
They're like, and now we're happily ever after, I'm like,
wait a minute, Yeah, they did spend a lot of
time on jail.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
But that's what people are interested, that's what people want
to know about. Yeah, so okay, there's a little thumbs up.
I was just thinking about it the other day. I thought,
I haven't watched that yet. I'm gonna check it out.
It's good. Yeah, Saint Pierre, what have you got?

Speaker 7 (23:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (23:48):
I just finished up the latest season of Love Is Blind.
They just had their reunion special, which whatever the reunion
wasn't I guess I don't think.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
I don't think.

Speaker 6 (23:58):
I loved a lot of the characters on the season.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
I have to watch it same here.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
I haven't done it yet, but I just saw the
new trend is to watch it with a blanket over
your TV so that you can also not know what
the people look like, and then you take the blanket
off when they meet each other.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
And definitely not doing that.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
Okay, was this one in DC this time?

Speaker 4 (24:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (24:19):
Yeah, that's why I thought you had said that. Yeah,
I don't know what. I don't know. It was an
interesting season. I won't say anying because I know people
are still watching.

Speaker 6 (24:26):
I didn't it didn't like wow me.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
I think with these reality shows you I've say this
all the time, you only really get one, maybe two
really good seasons and then people know how to play
the game, and then like it's not real anymore. Like
it's kind of just the sort of like there are
people that will come on there that have legitimate reasons
to be there, but most people are just looking to
get on TV, and that's like it kind of takes
away some of the fun of the experiment. But I'm

(24:50):
also we're also watching season two of Shrinking, which I love.
I'm watching I adore that show. I'm very excited that
is finally back.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
And I've been watching Disclaimer, the one with Kate Blanchette. Okay,
that's a little, yeah, dark little. I've asked some other
people in my family if they've watched it, and they
were like, no, it's too slow, and it is kind
of slow, but it's interesting. So I don't sleep on
the Hallmark movies this year too. That's some good ones
so far. We literally just got a text.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
It said I watched Countdown to Christmas all weekend long.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
Of course I got to catch up my miss last
night's movie, so I got to you in do It.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
I love it?

Speaker 1 (25:26):
Well, we want to hear what it is you're watching
that you love. It's on our Facebook but text us
seven seventy nine six two you start with higher head.
It was sung you man, when you see me.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
Today's Best Country ninety three point one w POC Baltimore
now top stories at the top of the hour.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
While the Almoradey Improving Ground Fire and Emergency Services are
actively fighting multiple range fires, and a Facebook post official
say the public may see smoke in the area from
the fires, and APG Fire ATC and the National are
on scene mitigating the incident. That's also the reason you
made me spelling smoke in the air this morning. A
Code Orange air quality alert for the Baltimore area has
been issued. A Code Orange means that air pollution concentrations

(26:11):
may become unhealthy for sensitive groups that include children, people
with asthma, heart or lung diseases.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
And the elderly.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
Honest will come as no shock to anyone that has
turned on a TV in the last few days, but
nearly a billion dollars was spent on political ads in
the last week. Data showed that nine hundred and ninety
four million dollars was spent on political advertising during the
seven I know, it's wild how much money gets thrown
around in this thing, and the spending isn't over yet.
Various groups are expected to burn through another three hundred

(26:38):
million dollars or so between now and election day. But
then it's over, I mean the ads, that is. I'm
sure there won't be done talking about the election after tomorrow,
but at least the advertisements.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Will the ads really swing anybody's decisions? Just confirm it.
I don't know, irritate like we wouldn't allow it. I
wish you couldn't have it your own research, you know, yeah, right.
I was watching the thing about Denmark the other day,
how they don't let drug companies advertise worthy.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
We're one of two countries, un said, I think it's
New Zealand are the only two countries in the world
that allow drug companies to.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
Average Those are also annoying those has but I think
it should be illegal to have any kind of election.
It I miss the days where there are regulations on
that anyway.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
The Maryland Transit Administration says every citizen who wants to
exercise their right to vote should have easy access to
the polls, and that's why it's offering free rides on
election day. The free transit service will be available on buses,
the subway, mobility, pair transit, and light rail to get
to the polls. Those polls tomorrow are open from seven
am to eight pm. As long as you are in
line by eight pm, you will be allowed to cast
your vote. So if you see a long line when

(27:43):
you show up there it's a seven to forty five, don't.

Speaker 6 (27:46):
Be a turred.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
As long as you're in line, you will be able
to cast your vote. As for how things are looking
right now, pulling across the country is showing a very
tight race. The latest info coming through shows Vice President
Harris and the former president locked in a dead heat,
each receiving forty nine percent support.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
So we'll see how tomorrow goes. That's us up date,
all right, coming up on your brief that's any what's
on your mind?

Speaker 4 (28:04):
New recommendations for what time your teen should go to bed.
Oprah has her new favorite Things list, and when will
Starbucks be giving away their red cup. I'll let you
know what I think.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
All right, We've got the new number one country song
in America for you.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
Here.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
It is jelly Roll. I am not okay, it's jelly Roll,
and it's nine minutes after eight o'clock.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
Here I keep us in the loop of entertainment and
pop culture and the things we shouldn't care about, but
somehow we really do. East beth Any brief on ninety
three point ONEOC Americans.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
Ever, the procrastinators are busy googling how to vote in
the United States and also who will win the election
twenty twenty four. I guess those are two of the
most googled searches right happening right now? Yeah, thirty seconds
to Mars front man Jared Leto will star alongside John
mulaney and Lupita Nyongo in a movie entitled lunic Heist.

(29:07):
It's a Cold War drama based on a true story.
Jared Leto will also co produce the film. And then
it looks like a Game of Thrones movie is in
the early stages of development as well. Did anyone see
John mullaney host snl Over the weekend.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
I didn't watch it.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
It was it was okay, it wasn't very funny, but
Chavalon was the musical guest, so that was good. And
then Kamala made a surprise appearance which made me giggle.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (29:34):
Oprah just unveiled her favorite Things list for twenty twenty
four as one hundred and sixteen gifts, raging in price
from twelve dollars to an eighteen hundred dollars espresso machine.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
So depending on what your budget is, you will definitely
be able to find something there.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
I get that express so much. Starbucks is rolling out
there new festive cups this week. Starting on Thursday, there'll
be five new cups. This year's theme is Merrier to Together.
No official word on when the Red Cup Day is.
That's the day where you get the free cup. In
the last couple of years it's been around the sixteenth

(30:09):
of November, so I will keep you posted for your
free cup. According to a new survey, we're stuck in
a social rut. Nearly four and ten of us haven't
been to a party in at least six months, and
it's been about a year since we saw a concert
with a friend. Seventy six percent of us say that
we wish we could spend more time with our best friends.

(30:30):
So let this be your sign to give your friends
a jingle. And lastly, a new pediatrician on TikTok admits
he puts his kids to bed.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
Very very early.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
Seven point thirty is his recommendation for all children, including
his fifteen year old. So I thought, what I'll do
tonight for you guys. I will go ahead and try
to put Turner to bed a secuck at seven thirty.
I'm laughing, all right, yeah, yeah, and I will let
you know how that goes.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
I think this is so unfair because deans like have
sports and homework.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
And sometimes they get home those Yeah, they got to
go to.

Speaker 4 (31:06):
Work, they got to eat dinner, Like, I don't know
how we're going to bed at seventh th eighty.

Speaker 6 (31:09):
That's part of mine.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
There's been this push nationally to try to push the
start of high school later later because it's been so early,
And that's the argument, like teens are spread so thin,
they don't even have time to get an actual night
of sleep.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
Like I really think if they did the sports practice
before school, you know what I mean, and then went
to school. Maybe I'm all amp done.

Speaker 6 (31:27):
Then you've got sweaty teenagers. Nobody wants that.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
All right, Well, we don't have to fix that today.
So all right, coming up here in a few minutes.
All this week we're giving away gift cards to wise markets,
so I we'll tell you how you could win one
of those. We do have a partly sunny forecast. Temperatures
are going to the low to mid sixties. We've got
forty two degrees out there. Now it's Darius Rucker ninety

(31:56):
three point one. Wpoc hey, Bob's here. I've even gone
so long. Bob went to the dentist today and it's
her first cavity you've ever.

Speaker 7 (32:08):
Had, well, no, like in fifteen years or something. Yeah,
I know it's a small one, but I got to
go back Thursday.

Speaker 6 (32:15):
Why my baby one?

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Well, I don't know. Okay, you brought it up. I'm
just saying, I know, I know, but when you were
talking about it, it's like you haven't had one in
a million years. So, but is anybody happy to get in?
Nobody is happy to with cavity. No one wants one.
But I just thought it was funny you were like,
it's a small one bus. All right, I don't want
to go back in.

Speaker 6 (32:35):
I got to go back in.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
I get it. We were talking earlier today about things
that we've been watching lately, and Bethany was telling us
about the Martha Stewart documentary that she heard. So during
a recent appearance, Martha was on a show and she
was asked which celebrities she thought were named in a
recent survey as the most fun celebrities to hang out with.

(32:57):
So number one on the list was Snoop Dogg. People
thought he was really fun to hang out with. Ryan
Reynolds came in a second, and Martha said, he's not
that funny in real life because he's a neighbor of hers,
he said. She said, he's very serious. He's a good actor.
He can act funny, but he's not that funny. And
of course Hugh Jackman, who's always going back and forth

(33:19):
with the ride Rold just reached out and said finally someone. Yeah,
I thought that's great. U, there is a news show coming.
I thought this sounded kind of interesting. Stranger Things star
David Harber and Jason Bateman are teaming up. They're going
to star in and executive produce a new seven episode

(33:40):
dark comedy called d TF Saint Louis TF Sat Lewis.
They're not saying anything about it other than that it's
emotionally provoking. Okay, okay, So I think with Jason Bateman involved,
I would check it out. He's got one coming up sooner.

Speaker 6 (33:55):
I think. Uh.

Speaker 7 (33:56):
I think he plays like a drug actor. Somebody's got
a full beer different role for him. It's called like Rabbit,
something dark rab.

Speaker 6 (34:03):
He's like on the phone.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
It's like his voice the entire movie too, where he's
like telling someone what to do through the phones.

Speaker 6 (34:09):
Wear a series.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
I feel like it's gonna be a limited I thought
it was a limited series. Yeah. He talks about it
on his podcast.

Speaker 7 (34:16):
Yeah, yeah, it was a SmartLess That's why, Yeah brought
it up. He's been talking about it. So I want
to see that because big we're big fans of.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Okay, see what yeah, me too. What's your favorite show
you're watching right now? That's what we were asking.

Speaker 7 (34:27):
You're gonna laugh at me, but believe the penguin and
has nothing to do with Batman. It's it's amazing.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
It's really really good. People talk a little bit about it.

Speaker 7 (34:36):
Yeah, Colin is amazing and there's a female co star
who's also sort of like a villain, and she's a man.

Speaker 6 (34:43):
It's really really good.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
It's an HBO all right, that showed The Diplomat with
Carrie Russell. That's a good show. Alison Janny's in it. Anyway,
That new season is out. So I saw this the
other day too. You remember the movie back in the
eighties who framed Roger Rabbit? Yeah, it was. It was
a big deal. People talked a lot about it, A

(35:05):
lot of people went and saw it, and Robert Zemeckis
was saying that there isn't going to be a sequel,
and he was explaining why that is.

Speaker 10 (35:14):
The current Disney would never make Roger Rabbit today. They
can't make a movie with Jessica in it, so there's
very little so that so they're seeming in price sequel script.
Is it ever going to see the light of day
as good as it is?

Speaker 1 (35:30):
Yeah, so apparently there was a sequel that was written,
but it's never going It is Roger Rabbit a Disney thing.

Speaker 6 (35:37):
I think it's a Disney property.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
I guess it must be okay brought up. They must
own the rights or something.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
Okay, Well, I mean also too, like that movie came
out like thirty plus years ago.

Speaker 6 (35:48):
No one's asking for a sequel.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
Yes, well, somebody put one together because there's a script for.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
And Bob Hoskins is dead, Like, how are you going
to do I don't know, Like I just feel like
it wouldn't make any sense to do it anyway, so
he could be angry about it.

Speaker 7 (35:59):
Only that movie, I got it. It's not a great movie,
but it's so it was so different at the time. Yeah,
the first time that an entire movie I think had
like an animation like that in real life together.

Speaker 1 (36:13):
Did you watch any of Saturday Night Life? Yes, first
half of it. Yeah, all right, so you saw the monologue.
But in case somebody missed it, here's a little bit
from John mulaney.

Speaker 8 (36:21):
My parents picked a bad time to get old. When
I was younger, I maybe could have helped them, but
I can't. Now I'm forty two. I don't feel well either.
My brother called me in April, he goes, mom.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
Fell, I fell.

Speaker 8 (36:37):
I also bit it at an outdoor restaurant. A bunch
of waiters fanned me with menus too. I also have
a band aid on the top.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
Of my hand.

Speaker 6 (36:47):
Older folks love a band aid.

Speaker 4 (36:49):
On the top of that hand.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
So good. All right. I brought that up because tonight
Saturday Night Live, the Election Special is going to air
on NBC, So all the highlights fan favored political sketches
from the last fifty seasoning, Yeah, exactly. Also today on TV,

(37:12):
Kelsey Ballerini is going to be on Kelly Clarkson, if
you're interested in checking that out. And I saw this
good news story. I thought, this is kind of great.
This family had adopted a rescue dog. I guess they
were in North Carolina helping victims of Hurricane Helene. So
she's from Pennsylvania. Her name is Gabby Bannon, and she

(37:32):
and her husband have volunteered at an animal rescue to
kind of help those because a lot of situations like that,
animals just get abandoned. So they ended up bringing one
of the dogs that got abandoned home and a couple
days later, the dogs saved their lives when he woke
them up when a fire started in their kitchen.

Speaker 6 (37:51):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
She says. If the dog hadn't started barking, they never
would have known the kitchen was on fire and they
could have all died.

Speaker 5 (37:57):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
So one good one maybe it was just working to
save himself. Yeah, it could get me out of here.
Maybe the dogs should take them to home depot to
get some smoke alot smoke detectors. Dogs are that smart
they can do that. Yeah, exactly, Well, Bob, I'm glad
it wasn't any worse at the dentist. That's all I'm saying.
Thank you, glad. It was just a small, small, little

(38:20):
glad your back. Here's your boozy.

Speaker 6 (38:26):
She's been telling me all night long.
