Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, welcome to the Lori de Young Show podcast. If
you missed our show today, we're sorry about that, but
here are some highlights for you. Be sure to catch
it tomorrow every weekday morning from five till ten, or
on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
She said, Today's best Country ninety three point one w POC, Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Now top stories at the top of the hour, We
got our first shot at rain in a while today,
with spotty chances pushing in, It's not going to amount
to much of anything, but you might see a few
rain drops. The highs will stay around the upper seventies
again today. We did set a new heat record yesterday
we hit eighty one to beat the previous record of
eighty that was set back in twenty fifteen. Now it's
been thirty five days without measurable rain and counting, so
(00:39):
we'll see if we do get anything to kind of
break that streak. Then tomorrow we do drop back down
to the high sixties and into more seasonal attempts over
the weekend. Speaking of whether, Hurricane Raphael slammed into Cuba
as a Category three hurricane yesterday before losing some strength
as it passed over the island and entered the Gulf
of Mexico. The storm is moving away from western Cuba
as a category two and conditions on the island were
(01:01):
expected to improve overnight, with winds, rain, and storm surge
diminishing now. The storm did leave problems for them. Raphael
caused the island's power grid to crash, so literally every
power customer on the island did lose power last night.
So hopefully they can get that back up and running
today and get a full look at some of the damage.
And we're just keeping those folks in our thoughts. It's
a purple Thursday here in Baltimore. The Ravens take to
(01:22):
the field for a prime time matchup against division rivals Cincinnati.
The Ravens are six and three and coming off a
big win over the Broncos from just a few days ago. Meanwhile,
the Bengals are four and five and they're coming off
a big win over the Raiders. It's kind of a
make or break game for Cincinnati. If they get their
six loss here this week, their playoff hopes will take
a huge hit. Kick off sep for eight fifteen. You
can watch it on Amazon Prime Video. It will also
(01:44):
be on a local channel here too. If you're not
a prime member, and we'll have folks out at the
b More around Town tailgate tonight that starts to think
at four pm. If you want to get out there
and a party before the game starts, we'd love to
see you down there. That's a uese of day.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
All right, Coming.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Up on your brief, Bethany, was there some drama the
set of Wicked with Ariana Grande. I'll give you the
details on that, plus two new products that you might
want to take to your Thanksgiving celebration.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
All right, there's War Insiders with Pretty Little Poison ninety
three point one w pos SO ninety three point one
w POC. He came round with marshmallow, Bob del Montier Ellay,
(02:32):
Bob Hi International Merlow Day. You like a little more
low every once in a while, Boby, you like wine?
Speaker 5 (02:38):
Kiante kiante, Oh boy for the Italian?
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Okay, all right, Well I know your backgrounds, so I
get it. So Bob just got back from the dentist.
He's still a little numb. So he came in today slurring.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Oh we should ask him to pronounce words. Yeah, so
this I've had this d is for a couple of years.
Speaker 5 (02:58):
Now and he's really great and and uh, but it's weird.
It's like he cleans my teeth. Usually it's the hygienics
and then the Dennis comes in action work, so he cleans,
so he gets he's he kind of does it gets
really really close, you know, they are really close, and
he wraps his his left arm around the other side
to getting good. You know.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
He does a great job and everything.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Well no, no, so this is that.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
And and I I got a cleaning couple of days ago,
and then I came back today for the cavity or whatever,
and he's really close or whatever, and he does a
great job. I just have one little problem because I
go in so early, Like I hear his stomach growling,
like constantly, Like it's really bothersome to me.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
I don't know. It's like, could you have a muffin
before you come in.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
You're supposed, I think you're supposed to bring him breakfast
if you're the first piece anything.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
Spin cakes or something before you get into my mouth.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
So I don't have to hear it the entire time.
It's the little ones in the But anyway, done, he
did a great job, and it's uh, yeah, have you
ever had a dentist or a hygienist that you thought
was attractive and then like immediately we're very self conscious
about them, Like cleaning inside your mouth. You're like, oh
my god, I can't believe this person is seeing inside
of your No.
Speaker 5 (04:15):
No, I mean there's been an attractive hygenis in my past,
but I don't. No, I remember bothered about that. I
make sure it's clean before I get in there as
much as I can.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Yeah, I'm not like going rubbing dirtle over my mouth, right,
but still just the shape of your teeth, you mean
you're just in general, like I don't know, like we
I had a there was a phillin hygienist at my
dentist last time I went there, and I had not
met this person before, but she was an attractive young woman,
and the entire time, like she's cleaning my teeth, I'm
just like, oh my god, this woman isn't she's cleaning
(04:47):
my teeth? What is she thinking? Was what's going on?
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Like?
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Are my teeth disastrous? Was her stomach growling at all?
Did you get there was no stummach?
Speaker 1 (04:56):
My teeth were always so bad. I actually had one
guy who a dentist who after the appointment was over
and he had looked at my X rays and everything,
he hugged me. He just threw his arms around me
and he just said, I'm so sorry.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
He said, thank you for my second home right on
the shore, my boat.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
I remember that.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah, we're in bad shape. Like a year years years.
Since I was a kid, I was always in the
dentist chair. All right, A couple of things I want
to talk about.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
One, Bob.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
I was just asking everybody, what what is the one
thing you think the most about when you're driving?
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Will I make this break on time.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
During the week?
Speaker 3 (05:36):
The number I.
Speaker 5 (05:37):
Look at ways, I'm like, is it accurate? What's going
on on Exit twenty on the Beltway?
Speaker 3 (05:43):
That that?
Speaker 5 (05:44):
And like, you know, the day's events where I have
to do nothing too exciting, the list of things you
got to do.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
I think for me it's two things. It's what am
I going to be doing today? What do I have
to do? And the other thing is I spend a
lot of time thinking about if there's somebody in my life.
If I don't, I'm not at peace with Like how
do I fix that? How can I make that better?
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Huh?
Speaker 1 (06:06):
I don't know. It's just a thing.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
A lot of people in your life.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
You're not.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
No, no, there's not a lot, but there's a few,
a couple of maybe, And I always think about that.
What about you, guys, Bethany, sat Pete, what do you
think about the most when you're driving around? I mostly
think about Bob. I usually think about going to make
the break.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
I usually think about, like, wait, how did I get here?
Because it's so early in the morning, I pulled the
bark wait already at the parking lot.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
I hate that feeling.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
But I hate that feeling bad because you're like, what
what did I do?
Speaker 1 (06:40):
I could have done anything. It's like a hypnosis.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
When you're kind of in that state of mind, you're like,
body is automatic doing this every single day.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
You don't dream.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
It's just like I just lost ten minutes of I.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Don't even know what I passed.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Bob, it's like six minutes for me. You've got to
live closer to work.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
I don't say that you're making him feel.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
So bad, so jealousy.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Why do you do that?
Speaker 3 (07:03):
Things I go through me? I do even think I
got through all the opening commercials of the podcast. I
was listening to I didn't even get the content. It
was just the commercials.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Bod was so fast.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
They want to tell you the right homes even worse
by the way, I bet Anyway.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Ravens tonight. Yeah, let good news there you go. Yeah
a little the Ravens good news. My other good news
story I got it, oh in the Nate Smith concerts tonight.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Also another day is it ram set? But I saw
this today. I thought this makes people happy. So Hershey's
has now launched the new Rece's Deconstructed Peanut Butter Cup kit.
So it includes a large nine ounce chocolate shell and
a ten ounce jar of Reese's peanut butter. It is
then up to you to decide how much peanut butter
(07:49):
do you put inside the cups. Okay, it'll cost you
twenty three bucks and you can get them on Hershey's website.
While supplies left, you can make your own. Yeah. But
it's a nice little holiday gift idea for somebody in
your life. And you know loves are Hershey peanut butter.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Gup, here's a project for you to make things.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
There's something to do. It's gifts that make you have
to do something. Thank you. I've got a plant that
where water?
Speaker 4 (08:15):
What?
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Yeah, I've got a job to do. Yes, thank you
for that.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Do you ever get one of those bars of soap
that has like money in it, but you don't know
what it's like. It couldn't be anything from like a
dollar to one hundred dollars. It's a surprise. My aunt
used to give me the like, I gotta wait till
the bar. It's not even good soap. I've never heard
of that before. I just kind of rubbing it against
my arm for like ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Sometimes in a novelty section or something where you have
I don't know, it's weird around the holidays, it's kind
of a thing. All right, you've got some concert tickets?
Thomas Red's sure Thomas Red twelve five.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Yeah, we got it.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Okay, did you get those gray sweatpants or not?
Speaker 3 (08:54):
No? I do have someone home. They're Nike, Thank you Bob.
Speaker 6 (09:00):
And T shirt said Virginius Loves had a Bible in
his leg.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
By Chaboozi, It's nine minutes after eight.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
To keep us in the loop of entertainment and pop
culture and the things we shouldn't care about but somehow
we really Do's Bethy Breath on.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Ninety three point one poc.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Okay, So, the Michael Jackson biopic starring Jafar Jackson as
the King of Pop has pushed its release date back
to October twenty twenty five.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
So good sign. I know what was the original date?
Speaker 4 (09:36):
I think it was supposed to be New Year's ish,
and now it's going to be next October.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
So uh.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
Meanwhile, Tito Jackson, a member of the Iconic Jackson five,
was laid to rest Monday in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
He was buried alongside his brother Michael and their father
Joe Jackson, in a private ceremony.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
And a lot of forest lawns by the way, just
a lot of cities have a forest lawn. Oh so,
what city was a? Glendale, California?
Speaker 4 (10:02):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Okay, okay.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will they
view in twenty twenty five. Netflix announced yesterday the final
episode will be entitled The Right Side Up.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Oh my gosh, I know, are you excited?
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Have goosebumps listening to you talk about.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
A new trend on TikTok? Well, if that gave you goosebumps,
this one's really gonna see. This one's gonna get you
new trend on TikTok going viral. It's called cookie fries.
All right, I'm gonna tell you how to do it.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
First.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
You take a store bought cookie dough, any kind you'd like.
You roll it out into like a really long sin thing,
you know, little fry shape if you will, and then
you put it in the oven, bake it out, and
then you dip it in milk.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Okay, these are cookie fries.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Interesting. I thought we kind of crossed the line with
chicken fries, but all right, these might be the wait.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
I'd try it. I think i'd prefer this over a
chicken fry.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
Yeah, I still think just leave the fries alone.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Just leave the the cookie dough. You don't even have
to cook it.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
And then the next time you slide something into your
air fryer, like some cookie fries, for instance, you might
want to be careful because that device is probably listening
to you. Researchers with a British consumer magazine have identified
four devices that they say are likely spying on you
and sending your information to China. Samsung smart TVs received
(11:25):
the lowest privacy score of all devices studied.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
A lot of people have Samsung TVs.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
Other low scoring devices include the Google Nest Mini, the
Huai Ultimate smart Watch, and the Kosori air Fryer.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Okay, I just always assume everybody can see and hear everything.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
That's right. Your Tesla is listening to you, Your Amazon
Echo is listening to you, your Apple iPhone is listening.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
Listen, though, if they're really listening to me, I feel
like I want them to do a better job of
giving me what I want.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
That's not what they're here for.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Yea, how come nobody gets knew what I want?
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Anyway?
Speaker 1 (12:05):
That's what I've got for you, guys. All right, coming up,
I've got a Wise gift card to give away, and
we'll tell you how you can win that. We've got
a chance of some showers around. There are clouds, some
pretty great clouds out there right now, but I don't
know if we'll get rain or not. We may, we
may later in the afternoon, partly sunny. Round eighty for
the high again sixty five.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Now Today's Best Country ninety three point one w POC Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Now Top stories at the top of the hour. If
you're tired during the day, you may have some other
things going on other than just a bad night of sleep.
A new study found that feeling more sleepy during the
day as you get older could mean you're at higher
risk for developing dementia. Over thirty five percent of those
in the study who experienced daytime sleepiness developed a cognitive
risk syndrome that could lead to dementia. The syndrome often
(12:52):
often results in a slow walking speed or memory loss.
The authors of the study said, quote, Establishing the relationship
between sleep dysfunction and cognitive risk is important because early
intervention may offer the best hope for preventing dementia. So
just we keep thinking about.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Hearing over and over and over and over again how.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Important it is to sleep, and it's like we're never
gonna listen or we can't. Like we care our lives
the way we get it, I know, but we could though,
we could go about it.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
I never want to go to bed at site.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Yeah, we got a new president said to take office
in the next few months. So what does that mean
for long term projects that are currently in the works
now here in Maryland? It could mean long delays or
outrighte cancelations of multiple transit projects. A lot of people
are wondering about this. For one, Baltimore's Red Line may
have just run into a wall here. The plan likely
won't happen without federal support, and that may no longer
be there over the next four years. Now, it could
(13:41):
get going as planned, because there is language in the
twenty twenty one Infrastructure bill that has the Redline move
to the front of the line when it comes to
competing for funding. But we already have an example of
what to expect because Trump already held office before and
during his first term, local transportation departments across the country
struggled with federal transit administration that was slow to process
process grand applications and delayed doling out funds allocations for
(14:04):
new transit projects. Where smalls the agency faced similar smaller budgets,
and it's very laid out clearly in the Project twenty
twenty five hand book that the authors want to stop
all federal funding for new transit projects as well. So
we'll see if that does make it into the administration.
The Redline's one thing here, but Amtrak also working on
new projects to help with the busy Northeast corridor, and
there's also the Key Bridge. President Biden has pledged full
(14:25):
support to rebuild the bridge, but that pledge already had
pushback from Republicans in Washington, where Republicans now taking control
of the White House, Senate and likely the House. The
future of the Key Bridge also very much uncertain right
now because that will very much rely on federal funding
to get done. So we'll see a lot of these
projects are kind of up in the air right now
and we'll see how they go. Hopefully, at least we
can get the Key Bridge up and running because I
(14:45):
know how important that is to so many people and
also the shipping industry and everything. So hopefully that gets through,
but we'll have to wait and see. A lot of
things are in question at this moment.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
That's your news update, all right, coming up on your brief, Bethany,
all right, what's the cookie fry?
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Oh yeah?
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Is your air fryer spying on you? I'm gonna let you.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
Know so many things important it's spying.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
I should just say clean.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Here's Chaboozy with the Bars song Zach Brown Band and
Alan Jackson ninety three point one WPOC. I think sometimes
I do things and I look back on it and
I go, You're ridiculous. You're just ridiculous. Okay, all right, Yeah,
(15:34):
what's new? So I don't think anybody loves using public bathrooms?
I think, yeah, I know you were talking about that.
I'm not crazy about them. The offices we used to have,
we had a great setup. We had a private bathroom
and it was literally around the corner from the studio
that we were in. Now we have to kind of
go outside of our offices anyway with.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
The common people. We have to go out with the commoners.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Lourie, Yeah, I don't mind that this bathroom set up is.
I don't really, but it's bad because we only have
a certain amount of time to when there's a song
playing or whatever to go to the bathroom and the
sink and the soap doesn't come out.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
And it's not forget your security card.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
It's not okay. So but you guys are going to
think this that I'm pretty squirrely. So you've had this happen.
I'm sure we've all had it happen. You walk into
a public bathroom, no one's in there, but somebody has
been there because you can smell it. Oh okay, now, look,
we've all we all have problems and smells. We get it.
(16:34):
But then a new person walks in the bathroom, and
you don't want them to think that was you that
made it smell like that. So I had gone into
the bathroom to put some makeup on, and I didn't
even use the bathroom, but in comes this woman, and
I mean, it was such a overwhelming and I felt
(16:56):
like I needed to say something, and I just said, wow,
I don't know what they did with that spray that
they had in here, because they used to have some
deodorizer and I noticed after I talked to her did
come back. So they used to have like a room freshener.
Air freshener, yeah, but sometimes either someone takes it or
they use it up or whatever. But it wasn't in
(17:17):
there this this day. So I say to this woman
who just coming in to go to the bathroom, I go, yeah,
I sure wish they would bring that air freshener back
because I just came in to put some makeupon and
it smelled like this, Like what she doesn't care, she
doesn't it exactly right. So that's why I left the
(17:43):
bathroom feeling like, you are just ridiculous, because that woman
right now is thinking, oh, that was you, ma'am.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
I would say, don't overthink it. I don't think that
woman gave it another thought.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
She didn't. Yeah, this is my brain. It's just how
my brain is constantly overthinking things.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
I do have to admit an embarrassing story for you,
so I'm going to go ahead and say it. I'll
just say I ate something that did not agree with
me and I had to use the restroom here in
the office, not today, but a little while back, and
it was not going well. So somebody did come in
while I was in the process and they were like,
you know, audibly making noises like all that, and I
(18:26):
finally I just said, like, I also don't want to
be doing what I'm doing, right. I was like, I
know it's not pleasing for you, but I too do
not want to be in this scenario. And I just
started laughing. I don't know who it was, just started laughing.
Not like I'm loving my life over here. This is
not doing well for me.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
I feel all.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
The noises you want to make, Sir, I can't change
the fact that my body is fast.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
You oh my.
Speaker 6 (19:00):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
I feel better about confessing what I did, and I.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Just are welcome, Thank you.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Save Pierre.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Okay, I'm that.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
As ridiculous cutting across were Insiders nine minutes after six.
Speaker 6 (19:16):
To keep up in the loop of entertainment and pop
culture and the things we shouldn't care about, but somehow
we really do.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
East bethbre On ninety three point.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
I learned something interesting about our new vice president today.
He will be the first second gentleman in the White
House and the first to be Jewish, and his wife
is Hindu, and she is the first Indian American immigrant
to be in the White House.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Yeah, I didn't know that. I thought i'd passed that along.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
On the New Heights podcast, Travis kelce and Jason Kelcey
talked about that Penn State situation the other day. Travis
said that the student was a clown and Jason but
and he was glad that Jason defended his family, but
he shouldn't have used some of the words that he used.
Jason expressed some regrets, especially for repeating the slur, and
(20:12):
then Travis praised him for learning through the incident and
for apologizing. Jason said he probably should have kept walking
to avoid escalet.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Probably, but I get it, like you're in the heat
of the moment. Nobody likes to.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Be attacked don't say bad stuff about somebody's brother, right,
all right.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
So Cynthia, who plays opposite Ariana Grande in Wicked.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Avario is her last name.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
She is under fire right now because she is praising
Ariana Grande forgetting the role. But she said, quote, thank goodness,
because it was thank goodness. It wasn't the other two
ladies I was auditioning with.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
So so do we know who they are now?
Speaker 1 (20:56):
No, we don't know who they are.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
But fans are a little bit angry at her because
she says you can praise your co star without stepping
on other people.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
And I have to agree.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
But this isn't the first time that this chick has
made headlines for saying something a little bit edgy. So
I don't know very much about her as an actress,
but I do know that she's already catching headlines for
being a little outspoken, So we'll keep our eye on that.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
The more stuff comes out about this movie, the more
I'm like, really, I don't know, I'm not invested in
this movie at all, but like I'm terrified of how
bad it might be. They're really trying to pull out
all the stops, and they just keep like flubbing it
up every step of the way.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
And but the wicked but wicked fans are like a
whole sub genre.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
Look, I'm excited for it. I love the show, like
I think they're you know, overstepping by trying to make
it two parts and making you wait, you know, a
year to see the second part. But besides that, like,
I'm a fan of it, like I love the music.
I'd listen to the music like on a daily basis,
but not even just at the show. It's great stuff.
So I'm excited to see what they do. But yeah,
I'm a little worried.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
Oh yeah, I agree.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
Uh Okay, here's what you can take to your Thanksgiving celebration.
McDonald's spicy Chicken Nuggets. They're back for a limited time. However,
I'm not sure if they're available anywhere around here. So
Texas seven seven ninety six to two, begin your message
with higher hay, if you've seen these on the menu
so far, they say they're in Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Memphis, New.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
York, and more. But I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
I don't have no idea, So I'm assuming somewhere around
here is considered the more.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
But I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
And then lastly, Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey just introduced a new
limited time release.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Laura, you're a fan of fire Vale. Oh boy, I
like it.
Speaker 4 (22:38):
But even though it still exists, I make some really
bad choices when I have Fireball.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
Because it goes uh uh uh okay. So here.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
So now they have Fireball infused with the tears of
football fans.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
Oh, come on, are they Jets fans? You're Jets fans.
I'll try it.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
There are tents that are set up outside several NFL
and college football stadiums where you can donate your tears.
If your team loses, then they distill those tiers and
sell it as cryer ball instead.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Of firebable tears are salty.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
H yeah, so it's probably a little salted caramel cinnamon vibe.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
I'm not sure. And so if.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
You're going to Saint Pierce Thanksgiving, you could bring the
Jets the Jets tears.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
I suppose.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
So there you go. That's what I got for you guys.
Speaker 6 (23:22):
So far.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
All right? Coming up, Reddit was asking people what are
the What's something that everybody knows but nobody wants to
admit out loud? So we'll talk about that here in
just a minute. We've got a slight chance of some
rain around the area this morning early, but then a
partly sunny afternoon on High's going to the upper seventies.
(23:43):
It is sixty three degrees.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Now, okay, salt.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Well, Telly Rowell ninety three point one WPOC. A post
recently on Reddit on ask Reddit was asking this question,
what's something that everybody knows but nobody actually says out loud.
Here's what a few people said. Most newborn babies are
ugly on the first day.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Oh, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (24:08):
Not.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
I'm not saying every baby is adorable, but some babies
are kind of cute.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
People who get paid the least do the most of
the work. I'm not always, I think not always times.
It's true, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
Like there's like I don't know, heart like the hardly
like I always think, like garbage people like the sanitation
people should make way more money, you know what I mean.
There's a good job, but I feel like that people
all people think that.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Yeah, Yeah, I think so too. Someone said looks do matter,
and they matter a lot. Nobody's actually read the terms
and conditions like ever, we just scroll to the bottom
hit accept and hope we didn't sell our souls to
some tech overload. I like this one. Somebody said, we're
all just kids walking around and grown up bodies.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
One person said, brown brown nosing works. I just witnessed
this the other day here in the office. Not that
I haven't witnessed it before.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
But I just was, wait, say that one more time.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Brown nosing works.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
Oh, brown nosing works. Okay, sorry, I think it's heard you. Yeah,
I think that's fair.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
I think that is fair. Okay, anything you guys, anything
pop to mind for you.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
It's a really good question. Some of these are like.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
The obvious ones that you yeah, right right, I guess
the squeaky wheel thing, which I hate.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
That squeaky yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. But it's always true,
isn't it.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Yeah, but it's annoying, like you don't want to be
the squeaky wheel. But then you're like, oh, these squeaky wheels.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
Are they're the ones who get it done.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
I know. Like I always try to go through like
the most minor things, almost like I'm not going to
complain about this, like it's not a big deal. Or
then I see people that are complaining. I'm like, they're
getting everything they want, and they're getting it because they're
annoying and people don't want to deal with it.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
I just want to shut them up. Yeah, exactly, yes, yes, yes.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
How do you think like when you're a kid and
like you're starting to learn about rules and regulations, and
people will say things like what's the phrase like no
one's above the law kind of thing like try to
make you feel like, well, you all have to follow
the rules. There are definitely people that are the law. Yes, yes, yeah,
there are definitely people that don't have to follow the rules.
And everyone's just like, no, it's okay, you don't have
to follow them. That's fine.
Speaker 4 (26:24):
Oh you know what is when you know how they
say everything you need to know you learn in kindergarten. Right.
I was talking to somebody who's kindergartener missed kindergarten for
the pandemic, right, and she was saying how many of
the of like life skills that they didn't learn because
they didn't go to kindergarten. And I thought, oh my god,
that's funny, because like we all knew that, we all
(26:47):
know that you learned that stuff in kindergarten. A lot
of the kids that missed it really truly don't know,
like how to share hold hands.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
They just don't know. Interesting. I do think that's interesting.
So I am going to put it up on Facebook.
Things that everybody knows but nobody really says out loud.
We'll put that on Facebook. You can also text us
about anything that we're talking about on our show at
any time seven seven, nine, six ' two. Just start
that text with higher Hay. Tell us what you're thinking today.
(27:19):
Here's Luke Combs and the kind of Love we Make
on ninety three point one Double POC. It's Morgan Wallin
and it's ten minutes till seven o'clock.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
It's Nashville News Now with Saint Pierre on ninety three
point one WPOC.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
So, yeah, I know the Ravens are playing tonight, but
if you want to come out and hang with us
at Ram said live, we have Nate Smith in town
for a big show. We've been excited about this one
for a long time. And I will say this to
the Ravens fans that are like, how come the show
was on a third This show was booked before the
Ravens schedule was released, and there was no understanding Bill
Will Yeah, we did not. This show was actually booked
about a year ago, so we had no idea when
(28:03):
the Ravens would be playing. Doors open at seven o'clock
and the show starts at eight with opener John Morgan.
I did go online to ramsaid live dot com a
little earlier this morning to see if there were still
some tickets left, and there were, so I don't know
how many of them there are. I know it was
getting close to a sellout, but if you want to
try to buy some today and get in there last minute,
we'd love to see it. He is, Oh my gosh,
the energy he brings to the stage. He was at
(28:24):
our Saint Jude Jingle y'all last year and it was
just I mean even that was just an acoustic guitar.
He was phenomenal. I can't wait to see him with
the full band on stage. Tire Yeah, he is. Walker
Hayes is getting into the clothing business. After several months
of teasing, his Duck Buck Clothing company is finally live.
Walker shared the big reveal on socials yesterday and it
appears the collection include shirts, pants, and accessories for men
(28:46):
and women. He says they spent the last year designing
the items with some comfort and versatility in mind. So
if you do want to find out more info, you
can check out Walker's social media and that we'll have
all the details for you. I think this story is
kind of funny. So apparently Luke Colmbs has been singing
Fast Car wrong this whole time, the whole time. Yeah,
So in a recent show, Luke was telling the crowd
that he found out he recorded one of the lyrics wrong.
(29:08):
So in the song, there's a line that says we
got to make a decision, leave tonight or live and
die this way, Luke recorded it as still got to
make a decision, YadA YadA, YadA y And it was
Tracy Chapman herself who pointed out the error to him.
I guess she told him, she was like, hey, you
missed this, And he told the crowd that when she
told him, he just wanted to crawl into a hole
and die. Because Luke has always said from the very
(29:29):
beginning he recorded this song just as a complete admiration
for it. It's a song, yeah, it's a song his
dad liked. They listened to it in the truck driving
around when he was younger, and he wanted to be
very respectful to the original versions. Even though this was
a very tiny mistake, it's been something that sort of
hangs over him. Of course. I know it's it's one word.
It's one and it didn't change the tone of the song,
(29:50):
like it really just kind of flowed in. I'm sure
it was just as he was singing. He just sang
it that way, you know. But again, like I get it,
like he did it to pay tribute and he messed up.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
And now I'm sure she was just like given him
a hard time. I don't think she's cashing the checks.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Nobody caught it, Like, none of the producers, nobody said hey, hey, yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
He didn't say when she told him, Like, I don't
know if she called him yesterday or if this was
a while ago. I don't know. But the story is
kind of funny. So I think, Luke, you can stop
beating yourself up.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
I think just let it go.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
Luke.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
It's Scotty McCreary. We'll see you tonight at ninety three
point one WOC. You know I love talking to you.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Hold bone, I'm can listen to your sleep boys.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Today's Best Country ninety three point one w poc Baltimore
Now top stories at the top of the hour.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
Are you ready for some football? The Ravens get on
the field tonight for a Thursday night matchup against the
division rival Bengals. Last time these two metup was back
and I think it was Week five where Baltimore took
the win in overtime. You know it's going to be
a fight between these two every time they meet, so
it should be an exciting game. Both teams are coming
off big wins, but it really is Cincinnati that needs
a win if they hope to make some move down
the line and make it into the playoffs, So it's
(31:06):
kind of a make or break game for them. Kickoff
is set for eight fifteen on Amazon Prime Video, but
it also will be broadcast on a local channel for
those that do not have Prime. The White House says
President Biden will address the nation this morning. His remarks
will come two days after Donald Trump defeated Vice President
Harris to become the nation's forty seventh president. He is
expected to get to the podium today at eleven this morning.
As for what's going to be talking spoken about, I'm
(31:28):
not really sure. We'll have to wait and see. On that,
and here's a wild story about TECHI Fridays. I haven't
really been covering much of their story because I don't know.
I guess there's been some bigger things going on. But
TGI Fridays they're going through bankruptcy right now. It's not
been a good time for them. But they're facing an
even bigger problem than their operating costs, and that's outstanding
gift cards. So it's being reported that TGI Fridays has
(31:48):
about fifty million dollars in outstanding customer gift cards and
the company has just about five point nine million dollars
of cash on hand, which it is borrowing. It's not
even their money, they're borrowing it to aid the structuring
process here during the bankruptcy proceedings, So they don't have
the money to cover the gift cards. So franchisees are
concerned now, like what's going to happen here? They want
(32:09):
to know are we going to be on the hook
to pay back the gift cards when corporate runs out
of money. People with TGI Friday's gift cards are being
advised to use them quick if there's still a store
open near you, or they may end up in a
long line for repayment behind a lot of other creditors,
and if you get to that point, you might just
get back pennies on the dollar. So better to spend
it on some Buffalo wings now if you can and
get your full value of your gift card that you
(32:30):
forgot you had in a drawer before you lose your chances.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Oh that is so sad. It's such a stuffing.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
I wasn't expecting to see that story today, but I
was like, oh, look at that all his gift cards.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Oh my gosh. Thomas Rhett is going to be a
Jiffy loub Live next summer, and we've got your tickets.
Will be there on August twenty second tickets for Callar
nine eight hundred three two one thirty six ninety three.
Here's post alone with Shelton. I'm forming a great cheez.
Speaker 3 (33:07):
Somebody's done.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
It's Drew Baldridge ninety three point one WBOC. So here's
a guy on social media talking about his life kind of.
He had a question, so he says, out of high school,
I went to a good college, but I got sick
of it after two years and dropped out. Went to
a technical school for welding, I really like that, but
after six months of working at a local welding shop,
(33:45):
I was over it. Found a job in medical equipment
sales that paid pretty well, but in less than a
year I was tired of all the travel going to
all the doctor's offices, so I switched to a job
selling pool accessories. It's close to my house. So now
it's been over five years since I graduated high school.
I've had five totally different jobs, none of which I've
been happy with, and I'm ready to move on to
(34:06):
something new. Is there something wrong with me? Why can't
I stick with anything? And I read that It's interesting
because a couple of weeks ago I was visiting my
aunt and uncle and when we were off in Michigan,
and my aunt was saying how they've lived and moved
to twenty It was like twenty five, twenty six times
(34:27):
something in their life, and I thought, that's a lot
of times. And after we left, my husband was like, well,
why were they moving so much? I said, well, my
uncle had a lot of different jobs. He was always
switching jobs, and they were very happy with their lives.
They always had a great attitude. He never complained about anything.
It wasn't like he was getting fired left and right,
(34:47):
but they just I think there are just some people
that like something new all the time. I don't think
that's as unusual as maybe this guy thinks he's feeling
like it's you know, he's the only one this is
happening too. Do you guys know people like this who've
just done a lot of different things.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
Yeah, I mean, I guess I've had friends in my life.
It's not so much like their job necessarily, but more
like hobbies where like they'll get really into one thing
for like three months and they'll be insufferable about it,
and then they'll be like onto something new immediate. Like
I heard my friend Mike growing up, he got really
into billiards, Like he bought like the he bought the
(35:27):
glove for his hands. We could have a smooth shot
with the queue. Like it's like for three months, like
if we were in high school. He found like a
billiard club that he could go play at in high school,
like for three months NonStop, all he wanted to do
was playpool. That was it, that was the only thing.
And then all of a sudden he was like into
Nintendo sixty four for like three months, and he was
like only playing one game constantly. Then it was like, oh,
(35:47):
I'm really into Magic the Gathering for three months.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
But he would go like I think he just gets
bored with you don't know.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
But they would spend so much money, an impossible amount
of money on all of these things, like his parents
and him, and I'm just like, he got into motorcycles,
he got his motorcycle license, got a bike and rode
it like twice and then never rode it again. And
I was like, dudes, like and whatever, that's those are
his hobbies for short times, I guess, But I just
kept thinking about the expense of all of it. I'm
(36:14):
watching his family just blow cash, and I'm like, you guys,
want to invest some of that in me, and then
I wouldn't have to work as much, Like I don't know.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
It sounds like they're trying to fulfill something. Yeah. It
sounds deeper than yeah, than just a hot like a
hobby or a job. Switch.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
Sounds like they might be like secretly unhappy, like deep
down they might not even know it, and they're trying
to make themselves happy.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
I think some people this is something I've observed over
the years. I think there's some people that love starting things.
They just like starting things, whether it's yeah, sure, I'll
sit on the board of that, and then after a
little bit, Okay, I'm gonna go do something, like I
think they are. They're crazy about it initially and it's
new and it's exciting. It's like the shiny thing, and
(36:57):
then all of a sudden they're like, Okay, I want
to go start something else. I want to start learning
about this. I want to start I think that is
a thing that some people just have. I don't know.
I'm in the honeymoon period.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
Yeah, where's off right, It's almost like there's a period
of yuck. Like there's like the excitement is starting something new,
and then there's like the h.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
The reality of it that may not be everything you thought,
but if you can push through that, yeah, Oftentimes on
the other side of that there's like comfort.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
Yeah, but I don't know if if everybody can get
through the yuck, you know, right, can you last that long?
Speaker 3 (37:35):
I do think too, Like with the careers standpoint, like
I just don't think career is the same as it
was forty years Oh no, Lauria, you and I were
kind of talking about this off the air yesterday. I've
been listening to some podcasts that we're talking about like
you know, work now versus work then. Yeah. Yeah, But
like they were talking about how like people used to
have careers and you stayed in your career for a
long time because maybe the company gave you stock options,
or you've got bonuses or you've got promotions each year
(37:58):
you got but like you got an NCRE some salary
each year. But you don't get that now, Like you
don't get any of that, so you have to leave. Yeah,
I don't think people are looking at their job as
a career because it's like, hey, you might not get
the rays that you need to survive with your family.
You might have to go find another gig to get
the money that you need. Like you don't have the
same benefits coming your way that would make you want
(38:19):
to stay with the company you used.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
To And I just don't know that like when it
comes to jobs, Like I said, my uncle he seemed
happy his whole life. I'm sure there were times he
felt bad about a change or it wasn't his idea
or whatever, but he always seemed to be generally a
happy guy. And I'm like, well, so what if you
do a bunch of different things.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
Who cares?
Speaker 4 (38:39):
Yeah, because there's something to be said about, like if
if they're not treating you right, or if you're unhappy.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
Get out. You know, you don't have to see you're
not a tree. You know you can move, you don't
have to go and be bored every day. And I mean,
there might be something else that excites you. But if
you're kind of resonating with this, you're like, oh, I'm
exactly that person. I know we'd love to hear from you.
Or maybe there's somebody in your life that you Yeah, yeah,
they've been doing that for a long time and they
seem fine. Like I just think it's an interesting thing.
(39:09):
Luke Holins, ain't no love in Oklahoma. You can text
us seven to seventy nine six ' two start with
higher Hey. I also will put it up on our
Facebook too,
