Speaker 2 (00:14):
Saday's Best Country ninety three point one w POC Baltimore
Now top stories at the top of the hour.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
We're continuing our cold run that feels a little more
like January weather than December. We'll see breezy and cool
temperatures with more clouds coming in this south afternoon itemp
should top out around forty four degrees.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
Tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
We may see a few rain showers or possibly some snowflakes,
though not any accumulations really expected. Windy again with the
high around forty five degrees. The Bureau of Ocean Energy
Management has given its final approval for US Winds offshore
wind project in Maryland. BOEM issued a permit for the
construction and operations planned yesterday for the project that includes
one hundred and fourteen wind turbine generators, up to four
(00:53):
offshore substation platforms, a meteorological tower, and offshore export cable corridors.
There having some lawsuits filed to challenge the project's approval process.
Ocean Cities Mayor says yesterday's permit approval will not impact
that lawsuit, and as expected, Cyber Monday did set a
new sales record. Fifteen point eight million dollars was spent
every minute during a two hour period on Monday night.
(01:13):
The US consumer spent a total of thirteen point three
billion dollars on Monday, which is up over seven percent
from last year. Over the five day period starting on
Thanksgiving Day, consumer spent a record forty one point four
billion dollars in just five days. One place, though, that
really brought in the money was TikTok. This is where
I think it's kind of interesting. The TikTok shop said
it raked in over one hundred million dollars in sales
on Black Friday this year. Now, one hundred million doesn't
(01:36):
sound like a lot, and we're talking about forty one
point one billion overall. But TikTok has about one hundred
and seventy million users, which means almost a million dollars
per user was spent over there on Black Friday, So
that does sound like a lot more. TikTok is not
being shy about coming after Amazon here, TikTok Shop is
expected to double it sales this year to fifty billion dollars,
and while that is well below Amazon's expected sales this year,
(01:59):
the app is making it self known as an alternative
to Amazon, and has even poached some execs from the
huge online retailer to help build its brand. So, yeah,
kind of interesting to see this coming into the market here.
The TikTok Shop's only been around for fifteen months and
it's already raking in the money.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
Is it bad that I had no idea that they
were a competitor of Oh?
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Amazon, it is massive. It is an enormous competitor, an
enormous thing. Yeah, it's pretty wild.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Wow. I mean, like on a lot like.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Amazon's money this year, I think's getting close to eight
hundred billion dollars or something, so like fifty billion is
not much when you think about that, but it's still
no one else is coming that close, right, right, that's wild?
Speaker 1 (02:35):
All right? Coming up on your brief, Bethany, what do
you have?
Speaker 5 (02:38):
Well, you know what, guys, to be entirely honest with you,
the celebrities are boring me today. Okay, So I've got
some really fun local Baltimore stories, including a new animal
at the Zoo and two dive bars that made a
Best Bars in the Country list.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Oh nice, all right, I'm right, we're ready for that.
They don't need any more boring celebrities.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
They are just too much.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Seven minutes after.
Speaker 6 (03:08):
I keep us in the loop of entertainment and pop
culture and the things we shouldn't care about, but somehow
we really knew the on ninety three point one.
Speaker 5 (03:19):
To Baltimore dive bars are on the list of the
best dive bars in the US.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
The Dive in Canton. I love that place. You should
try a smash burger or the Dorito's Pizza. Also a
pickle pizza that's delicious. Due I think I'm hungry.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
The other one is The Horse She Came In On
in Fells. Established in seventeen seventy five. It's the country's
oldest continually running saloon and the only bar in Maryland
to exist before, during, and after Prohibition.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
I was just going to ask, how old is it.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
That's staying power? Isn't it was that the last place
Edgar Allan Poe was before he died. Is that the story?
He's the legend?
Speaker 5 (03:56):
Yeah, Okay, you guys, the Baltimore Zoo got a new giraffe.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
I'm so excited because I I love drafts. She's three years.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
Old and she's current currently quarantining and adjusting to her
new environment, so she hasn't met any of the public yet,
but the zoo is gonna let us name her for
one hundred dollars. You can suggest a name and the
money will go toward the draft program at the zoo.
I took the liberty of suggesting Glory Deoung as the
giraffe's name.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
That's so nice.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
I love that. How long it takes him to adjust
to the new like if they're being quarantine, Like, how
long did it have to be?
Speaker 6 (04:32):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
I think it probably depends where they like, where they
come from.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
And maybe we're also going to get two new gazelles
in the near future.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Oh cool.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
H Jack Veil, a seventeen year old actor who appeared
as Kid Loki in season one of that series, says
he's homeless.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
He did a.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
Video the other day and basically ask the world for help.
He said he was abused at home and he needs
he needs help. So now people are trying to help him,
which I think, I guess that's good right through all
that I know, but I think it's good that, like
he's using social to get the help he needs, Okay,
And then trending this morning, Eminem's mom, Debbie Nelson, died
(05:12):
at the age sixty nine. They had a tumultuous relationship,
but in the last few years they've been, you know, trying.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
To repair it terms. But sixty nine young. Yeah, I
know she lived kind of rough, but still.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Yeah, that's pretty young. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
Kendrick Lamar announced his tour with Sizza. They're going to
stop in Pennsylvania and DC, but not Maryland, but you
can always watch him at the Super Bowl halftime show.
And lastly, a small asteroid narrowly missed the Earth and
a second one who's had it to pass this week.
And I panicked a little when I saw this story
(05:50):
because I was like, oh my god, armageddon. But no, no, no,
I don't want anyone to worry. According to NASA, one
hundred and thirty two known asteroids have been closer to
the Earth than the Moon in the past year.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
So it happens all the time.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
You don't have the word asteroid freak you out. Some
of them are very tiny and nothing will happen.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
I mean, you hear those stories like every it feels
like every few weeks.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
But yeah, I was like, what, what tell.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Me it's not true? Coming up here in a couple
of minutes, I want to talk about there's a new
study out that was all about traits that men and
women envy in each other. I thought, well, this is
kind of interesting.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
So we're going to.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Want to know is there something you envy about the
opposite sex? So we'll be asking that question. You can
text us seven seventy nine six 'y two start with
higher hay, let us know what it is. I've also
got it up on our Facebook. You can call us
eight hundred three two one thirty six ninety three. But
we want to know. We've got increasingly cloudy skies as
(06:52):
the day goes on low forties. For the high it's
twenty five right now, it's Samha three WPOC. We were
talking about dive bars a minute ago, the two locally
that made this list for the best dive bars in
the country. Did you guys see that Miller High Life
has developed a limited edition cologne supposedly captures the essence
(07:14):
of dive bars that I'm just saying it is featuring
notes of cedar wood, patchuli, tobacco, leather, even a hint
of sea salt.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
I don't know, like it's a stretch, I know.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
So I saw this the other day and I thought, well,
that's kind of interesting. There's a new study out traits
that men and women envy in each other. Researchers found
that women tend to envy men for their perceived social
advantages and biological freedoms, while men often envy women for
their physical attractiveness and traditional roles like motherhood. So I
(07:53):
thought it.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Would be Wait, men are envying women for that, that's
interesting what it says. Yeah, I have a hard time
believing that if you go across this country and survey men,
they're going to envy motherhood.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Well, I think having the choice to maybe not be
working full time, or I think it's more about stuff
like that. That's kind of what I'm guessing.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Yeah, that's that's kind of what I'm thinking. I just
don't believe that men across the board would say that
they want to do that.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
So I'm curious. I put it up on our Facebook.
What do you envy about the episode sex, Ali said
that they can stop eating ice cream for one day
and lose ten pounds by the next.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
It's not really true, but I see the point. I
thought that was kind of funny.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
I always kind of envied how men can get extra
points when they do things that you used to kind
of associate with women doing, like whether it's cooking, or
whether it's taking care of the kids or I just remember,
like if I had a business something that I was
traveling for, I was out of town and my husband
(08:58):
kind of held the you know, fort down at home.
He would always get dinner invites, and just like because
people thought, oh you poor guy, you're there alone with
your children. Women never get that.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Like when you said that.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Men envy women from motherhood, I'm like, you should try
this new trend to call fatherhood.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Right, That's what I'm saying, That's what Yeah, exactly. I
do think as a man who has done a lot
of things because of the schedule that I have, I
do a lot of things with my daughter at times
where I don't see a lot of other men, like
I see a lot of moms and grandparents out I've
received some of that, like false like pration and it
makes me feel so uncomfortable. I'm like, I'm just being
(09:40):
a dad, Like I'm doing the job that I'm supposed
to do as a parent. Much men, I know, and
I know I agree with you, and it makes me
feel so uncomfortable and awkward. And it because I'm like,
you don't have to, you know. Like one of our friends,
my wife was going away for a week and they
were like, oh, do you want us to take care
of your kid?
Speaker 4 (09:57):
I'm like, no, like I got her, like it's fine.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
It makes me feel uncomfortable that people think that because
I'm a dad, I cannot handle these things.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
When my husband would go out of town, nobody was saying, hey,
do you need me to come over? Or can I
bring you dinner? Or can you want to come over
for din?
Speaker 4 (10:14):
Like, but you know who's doing that is or women? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (10:18):
I know, so it's like girls, Yes, all right, hold us.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Accountable, is what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
These are things we should all be pitching in to do.
It shouldn't be like, all right, is there anything you
envy bethany about the opposite sex?
Speaker 7 (10:33):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Equal pay?
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (10:36):
At the top of the list.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Something oh man, and not having a menstrual cycle would
be real really clutch, I mean really clutch.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
Yeah, Okay. I also think, and I've noticed this, and
there is research to support it that like in meetings,
men are more listened to than women, and people perceive
that women when they're talking have talked longer than they
actually have. They've done research on it. I'm like, gee,
that's so sad.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
I think anybody talking in a meeting has spoken way
too long.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Yes, yes, I'm always like, really, you're going to make
this meeting longer.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
Just stop, all right?
Speaker 1 (11:16):
So if you want to text us what it is
you envy if there's something, maybe there's nothing, but is
there something you envy in the opposite sex seven seventy
nine six ' two just start with higher hay. Let
us know you can post on our Facebook too. It's
up there for we've got Dylan Marlowe and Dylan Scott
together with boys back home.
Speaker 7 (11:46):
Some days you live, some days you live, Mister.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Spent Life ninety three point one WPOC Today's Best Country.
We'll get to Dustin Lynch and Jelly Roll here in
just a minute. We were talking about things that maybe
you envy about the opposite sex sat pire you didn't
get a chance to weigh in.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Yeah, it's funny that you brought it up today because
my wife and I were just having a conversation kind
of about this over the weekend, and I think that
I sort of envy that men want to buy things
for women, like they want to do.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Things to shore them with gifts.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
We were just joking by one of our babysitters with
the town for Thanksgiving, and she was very much like
hitting us up like every day, like hey, I'm available
if you need me. And I was like, she must
be broke, Like she must see she goes to school,
she must be broke. Let's, you know, throw her a bone.
She can come watch the kid, you know. And my
wife was like, well, what she broke for, she's doing
it right. She's like, I never paid for a drink
in college, not once. I was like, well, that's nice,
(12:50):
Like I didn't drink in college, but like, just hypothetically,
it would be nice if I didn't have to pay
for a drink in college. But the expectation is that
men are going to buy all the drinks for the
women cover all that. No, I think I'm a little
envious of that.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
Yeah, but that's just to make up for the less
money we make.
Speaker 4 (13:06):
I guess that's fair. I guess that's fair. The same thing.
My wife makes more money than I do now, So
I don't know, But what do you think about women
like being able to dress up?
Speaker 5 (13:15):
I've had some guys in my life say like, I
wish that there was the equivalent of us, like putting
on makeup and like getting you know, all dressed up
and stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
I mean, I think men can do that.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Yeah, Like I yeah, there's nothing stopping you.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Yeah, I mean I'm not interesting. Yeah, I mean there
was a time in my life but I had lost
like a lot of weight, and I was like, wow,
actually look good in a suit now, Like I kind
of wanted to like dress nicer.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
But then, like we work in an industry too.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Where like if I wear something other than a hooded sweatshirt,
like people are like, what happened?
Speaker 4 (13:44):
Did somebody die? Are you going on an interview? Why
are you dressed?
Speaker 3 (13:48):
So I'm always like, you know what, I'm just going
to keep wearing the jeans and a T shirt.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
And just just keep it, just keep it a uniform. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
Well that's funny because one of the Texters said, I
envy the fact that guys can roll out of it
and throw on a hat and just go out for
the day. Sure, nothing's stopping us from doing that either, Ladies,
That's exactly what I did this morning. And then someone
else said, I envy that they can fall asleep as
soon as their head hits the pillow.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
Yeah, I can do that too.
Speaker 4 (14:16):
I don't think my wife has much trouble with that
one either.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
I got no problem.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
Like this makes me wonder, like if there's something that
we envy about the opposite sex, Like why don't we
just do it right, Like aside from biological like differences or.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Even financial sometimes you don't have a lot of say
in that. It's just the way it is.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
Right.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
You can complain, but it doesn't always change things.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
Yeah, but I mean, like we can we can do
stuff about that too, Like we can get like, uh,
you know, transparency and for pay in the workplace and
like that.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
You know, there's stuff we can do. I think we
need to fight for it.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
You're saying yeah or yeah, I mean.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Just or like if you know, speak up. Guys want
to do stuff that girls do, go for it.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
Yeah, give it, give it a go about to be
twenty twenty five people.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
The limitations behind me. Yes, let's figure it out.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Let's make some new rules or no rules. Chevrolet.
Speaker 8 (15:13):
She was just killed house in my boo.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
It's Kenny Chesney and it's seven minutes till seven o'clock.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
It's Nashville News Now with Saint Pierre on ninety three
point onepoc.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
Bret Young is getting tired of sitting around, so he's
getting ready to get back on the road. He just
announced the Back to the Basics World Tour twenty twenty five.
Brett said, I can't tell you how long I've wanted
to do a tour like this where there aren't any
bells and whistles and the focus is completely on the music.
I don't know exactly what that means, but it is
a heck of a long tour. It kicks off in February.
We'll stop at the Warner Theater in DC on February twentieth,
(16:03):
if you want to catch that. The tour takeshim around
the US, into Canada, Australia, parts of Europe. It also
runs from February through November, with a break during the
summer months, which tells me He's probably hooked up with
another big tour for the summer because is a huge
gap for June, July and August, so I imagine he's going
to be out with somebody else. So we'll see how
that goes. But yeah, Brett Young coming back to the
area in February. Miranda Lambert's Mutt Nation Foundation is expanding
(16:25):
to other four legged animals. She's become known for her
work with shelter dogs in particular, but now the foundation
has established the Idle Wind Award, which to be presented
to an organization which works to rehab and rehome horses
who have been rescued. The first recipient of the twenty
five thousand dollars grant is a rescue in Arizona, so
she's branching out to help out horse as well. Miranda
is a lover of all animals, not just the puppies.
(16:47):
And last time we got the CMA Country Christmas Special
featuring Tricia Yearwood and Amy Grant as host fun night
of performances including from the host John Party, Cody Johnson,
National McBride with Britney Spencer and others. We do have
videos of the performances up a WPOC dot com if
you missed the show and you want to check it out.
I also am sure it's available on Hulu right now
if you want to watch that. At the end of
Country on your TV this week tonight you'll get the

and this is a annual tradition. It airs at eight

Baltimore Now Top stories at the top of the hour.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
So sports related stories here.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
The man captured in that viral video attacking two fans
after the Ravens Commander's game in Baltimore earlier this year.
Will remain in jail as he awaits trial. Jack Hallis
was in a second bail hearing review yesterday when the
judge ruled he is a danger to public safety because
of his cocaine and alcohol use. The judge said she
was not convinced that releasing him to take part in
outpatient treatment was sufficient to address his substance use disorder.
(18:23):
He has net SEC to next set to appear in
court on February third. The latest college football playoff rankings
have been released. This gives us our last look at
the ranks before the Selection committee officially invites twelve teams
to the College Football Playoff selection Day, coming up on Sunday,
after the conference championships are all wrapped up. Right on,
the top five looks like Oregon, Texas, Penn State, Notre Dame,
and Georgia. I don't think the top twelve will change
(18:46):
too much regardless of what happens. Not all the teams
are playing this weekend, but this is the first year
that college football is using a twelve team playoff format,
and I'm kind of excited.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
To see how this one shapes up.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
And let's stay with sports here because we could see
a change coming down in DC at the sight of
our FK stadium. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Washington Commander's
owner Josh Harris met yesterday to secure access to the site.
If all the approvals come through, there could be opportunity
to transform the aging RFK Stadium campus into what could
be a huge complex moving forward, The Commanders are looking
to build a new stadium to replace the aging Northwest
(19:18):
Stadium in Landover.
Speaker 5 (19:19):
Now.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
Maryland Governor Wes Moore said he hopes to keep the
Commanders in Landover, saying that he's confident the state will
put together the most attractive offer we'll see. According to
a team spokesperson, the Commanders have interest from three jurisdictions
between DC, Maryland, and Virginia. So they are going to
be setting something up somewhere. We're just not really sure
where it's going to be yet.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
Not change updates.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
All right, We've got your tickets. So tomorrow night, Jingle
y'all is happening at Ramshead Live. We've got Chris Lane

Speak for yourself. You should speak for yourself. These two don't.
Why hello.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
So if I was gonna ask you, guys, when do
you think the power mower was patented power More mower?
Think about that? Like what year?
Speaker 4 (20:29):
Just or like a regular lawnmower?
Speaker 5 (20:31):
Ye?
Speaker 9 (20:32):
Power okay, nineteen forty five, eighteen twelve, Oh my gosh,
eighteen twelve.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
And it was a guy from Pennsylvania, Lancaster, Pete Gallard.
Speaker 4 (20:44):
Huh he pant did the power More?
Speaker 1 (20:46):
I'm thinking, well, what took it so long to get here?
Like when did the first power mower show up?
Speaker 4 (20:52):
What do you mean you don't think he got the patent? Okay,
I say in eighteen twelve.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
But I'm just thinking I never would have guessed it
went that far back.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
Wow, that was kind of weird.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
So we're always joking about how Columbia shows up on
every list.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
So there was a list of the best.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
And worst cities for singles compared like cost of a
restaurant meal for two, average price of America, percentage of
population that's single, and Colombia showed up on the five
worst cities.
Speaker 9 (21:20):
They ever show up for the worst of anything, Yes,
they did.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
It's worth mentioning.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Huh, But that makes sense too, right, Like, Columbia by
design was made for like families. So like I imagine
if you are single living in that area, you're probably
not very mad a lot, but right like, I feel
like you're surrounded by people that already have like family
life going on, not dating much.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
No gott to go to Baltimore County for that, all right.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Soo, So Jude Law was on Kimmel and he stars
in the new Star Wars Skeleton Crew, and he said
that in the beginning, when they were getting ready to
film and all, he had to get the rules of
the Star Wars rules. So here he is talking about
those they.
Speaker 10 (22:02):
Are gatekeepers for the world of Star Wars. The law
the rules, and they oversee costumes and fittings and suggestions
that I may have on a prop. They're like, that
doesn't work, Like, for example, with the costumes, no buttons.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
You never see any buttons? Is that true?
Speaker 10 (22:18):
Because everything is either tied or velcrode and buckled.
Speaker 11 (22:24):
No buttons, I have no paper? Why no buttons? It's
just a rule and no paper. No, if you think
about it, you've never seen paper. Hold on a minute,
this is crazy. Yes, it's true.
Speaker 9 (22:38):
The Empire got rid of buttons back in nineteen seventy,
so they said no more.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
That is so funny.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
And Colbert Selena Gomez was talking about her co stars
and this was kind of acute conversation.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
What is your favorite thing about hanging out with seventy
year olds?
Speaker 12 (22:57):
Well, just don't care about the little thing is that?
Maybe I do like what what overthinking over italyzing? Being
too looking for a deep thing and something that's very simple.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
And I love that. So you're looking for meaning in
the script and they're looking for one take.
Speaker 12 (23:16):
Yeah, they're usually wanting the punchline. So it's wonderful though.
I mean, they they're truly gentlemen, and I love that
I can say, they're some of my best friends.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
I just thought that she's awake because she looks She
sounded a little sleepy, didn't she?
Speaker 4 (23:31):
All Right?
Speaker 1 (23:32):
A lot of holiday stuff going on today on TV
and tonight. So on the Today Show, Dan and Shay tonight,
ninety second Annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
My wife watches it every year.
Speaker 9 (23:43):
She's actually out of town, doesn't know that it's on tonight,
and she's going to be so excited because her favorite
band of all time is going to be on this
A Little Big Town the Backstreet Boys.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
Oh, so a big surprise. We call them a band?
Speaker 7 (23:58):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (23:58):
Or they group collection? They don't play instruments? Are they
a band?
Speaker 1 (24:08):
So it's eight o'clock tonight. If you want to watch
Christmas at Wreckefeller Center, that's the one that Kelly Clarkson
hosts Stand and Share on that, and Little Big Town
is on that, and then right afterwards there's Jimmy Fallon's
Holiday Seasoning Spectacular and that's got Dolly Parton and the
Jonas Brothers justin Timberlake. So you get all kinds of
(24:28):
good stuff on TV. Also streaming today, Amazon Prime. Uh
this pop Culture Jeopardy Colin Jost is your host. I've
heard about it, and it's a lot deeper into pop culture.
Then it's not just like, you know, easy stuff, right,
you have to really know you'd probably be good at it.
Speaker 9 (24:48):
But I'm saying it's easier than like the history and
the science that they do in the other one.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
I'm just saying it's yes, it's it's but it's pop culture.
But there they go deep.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
Trying to play those like trivial Pursuit where it's like
trivial Pursuit the nineties or whatever. Like I always thought
like I'd be really good at some of those, and
I play, I'm like, this stuff is insane, right, it's intense,
Like I wonder if that's what this is going to be,
more like like intense pop culture things hard.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
You think that's why we went into radio so we
don't have Yeah, Okay, so this is just kind of
a fun, good news story. So some people of a
certain age might remember the jingle for Oscar Meyer baloney.
If you do you go to sing to pay dot
com between now and December fifteenth, and you sing the
(25:38):
blogoney song. That's what they call it.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
Is it the name? It's right now?
Speaker 1 (25:45):
Right, my Baloney.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
First name, it's sr My Bologne.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
He has a second name it and may any jump
in come on anytime. So if you are chosen after
singing the Boloney song, you can get free groceries and
of course Oscar Mayer Bolodi in groceries. But again, just
go to sing to pay dot com.
Speaker 9 (26:10):
Remember the commercial little kid it with this fishing rod
and you sing. That was the famous one. It was
the other two fishing Yeah, from the seventies. It's a
famous They're gone you lost me at Star Wars.
Speaker 4 (26:24):
YouTube it all enjoy.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
She nodded off when we got to the Beloda. Here's
your boozy.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
Bound.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
She's been telling me.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
It came brown and marshmallow. It's nine minutes after eight.
Speaker 6 (26:48):
To keep us in the loop of entertainment and pop
culture and the things we shouldn't care about, but somehow
we really do.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
Free on ninety.
Speaker 5 (26:59):
So I guess Will Smith really is serious about returning
to music. He's going to do a concert in France
in July. He's going to play a set of his
hits from back in the day, like Miami and Men
in Black.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
I don't know if we asked for this, but we're
getting it. Why he's doing it in France and not right.
I don't think I'll be headed over to check that out.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
The Ravens are on Max's Hard Knocks At debuted last night.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
I haven't watched it yet, Saint Peter, did you watch it?
Speaker 5 (27:27):
No?
Speaker 4 (27:28):
I actually have no interest in that show. I've never
watched over the years. I just don't. I don't know,
I don't care.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
I don't know if I necessarily cared before. But since
the Ravens are on it, I think I want to
give it a look and see.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
Laurie, do you like this kind of thing? Now? Okay?
So I almost didn't ask, but then.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
I was like, no, maybe she's into include the old girl.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
Let's see if she's into it. Okay, how about this.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
Forbes put out their list of thirty under thirty. They
do it every year. Jacob Elerdy from Saltburn is on there.
Shaboozi made the list. Larne, Caitlin Clark, and Zach Bryan
all landed on.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
I'm Still under thirty Sabrina Carpenter single.
Speaker 5 (28:09):
Okay, line up, guys, I gotta text I got a
text turner and tell him because he loves her. She
was dating Barry Keegan for a while, but they decided
to take a break. TikTok has made airport rules a
new hot trend.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Okay, what's that, you ask?
Speaker 7 (28:27):
What's that?
Speaker 4 (28:29):
Okay? So this is when you can do whatever you
want all the time. Okay.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
So, for instance, at the airport, it's okay to eat
a giant cinnabont.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
But in regular life you might not do that every day.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
Or you can have a burrito at seven am if
you want, You can wear your pajamas, nothing matters. It's
the airport. But TikTok is saying that this is true
in real life now as well. And lastly, Redmond, Washington
has a new fleet of snowplows.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
I think we need to do this in Baltimore.
Speaker 5 (28:55):
They've named the snowplows and they're so punny. Okay, here
they come ready, control salt and delete, scoop dog. That's
a winter Yeah, snow by one Kenoby, okay, the Big
Laplowski and Betty white out.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
That's good. That's good.
Speaker 5 (29:16):
I don't know, does anybody know if any of the
plows around here have names?
Speaker 4 (29:20):
If you do, text us seven seven nine six two,
begin your message with higher.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Yeah, because they do this every year. They come out
with the name of the snow plows.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
I don't know if it includes Baltimore.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
Well, let's you know, maybe we have some snowplow drivers listening.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Yeah, maybe they name there's themself.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Yeah, what's what's your name?
Speaker 10 (29:37):
We want to know?
Speaker 4 (29:38):
Yeah? You all done? I think so for now.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Yeah, now all right, we've got some tickets to give away.
If you're a Morgan Wade fan, she has lots of them.
Be listening here in a minute, we've got a trivia
question and you could win your way into see her
early in the new year. We do have some increasing clouds.
I just was taking a look out the window. It's
pretty cloudy out there. High's in the low forties this afternoon.
We're looking at twenty six degrees right now, ninety place.
(30:06):
I got a fan, George Burge ninety three point one WPOC.
If you want to hear him do that song live
and in person, you got to come to our show
tomorrow night at rams Head Live our jingle y'all, Yes,
Chase Matthew, who's part of that? I was just reading
about how he kicks off his world tour on December fourteenth,
So not long after he's here with us, he's going
(30:28):
to play across the US and Europe. And then when
he wraps that up, he's going to go on tour
with Keith Urban next summer in Australia.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
I'm like, that guy's got a nice, nice, little I
don't know, vacation plan. I know he's going to be working,
but to go to all those.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
Places, he'll be a busy guy.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
He's going to be a busy guy. All right. So
kind of a funny thing happened to you this morning?
Speaker 4 (30:49):
So weird.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
So, I mean I've worked here for like seventeen years,
sixteen years something like that. It's been a long time.
And we've been in this office since twenty twenty one,
so it's been you know, three years here in this
particular building. Yeah, I get in, I would say I
get in about the same time give her like in
the same like twenty minute window just about every single day.
Speaker 4 (31:10):
Like I'm a few minutes earlier, a few minutes later.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Whatever I come in today, I'm like a couple minutes
earlier than say average I usually get here right around four.
I was here at like three p fifty seven, like
It's not like it was that much, you know, earlier,
come in, put my stuff down, starting to do my
normal routine. I never see a soul when I come
in here outside of like a security guard in the building,
Like that's the only person I've ever set right. Nothing
(31:32):
is here, like I have to use my scan card
to even get in the building, like everything, So get
everything right in the way I normally would. And all
of a sudden, this person pops out of one of
the studios and it's a woman that I've never seen
before in my ever seen and she and she looks
at me like she goes, oh my gosh, there's somebody here.
And I was like, yeah, you, Like what are you
(31:53):
doing here? And she's like, I just I'm just so
not used to seeing anybody this time of day. No
one's ever here. And I was like, ma'am, I've ever
seen you before in my life.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
That's weird. Who was it?
Speaker 5 (32:03):
Like?
Speaker 3 (32:03):
And I'm here, I have no idea you still don't know,
I have no clue, Like I went weird. It was
such a weird situation to see that. Like even in
that moment, I didn't think, like I should ask who
this person is and I should investigate. I just kind
of like continued to go on my day, and it
wasn't for like a few minutes.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
I was like, wait, who is this person? Like she
left her purse here like when I came somebody.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
I don't know if it's hers, but I came in
this morning and there's this random purse sitting out like
in that little area by the kitchen, and I'm thinking,
I know Saint Pierre doesn't bring that in.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
Where was she?
Speaker 7 (32:35):
What studio was she?
Speaker 3 (32:37):
The one that's next to yours, the one were our
friend John from Heaven six hundred usually worked.
Speaker 4 (32:41):
Okay, did we talk to John about it? I'm going
to I'm going to ask him, is this crazy?
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Is that weird?
Speaker 4 (32:46):
I've never seen a person I love, I love I
love how she was like, what are you doing right?
She looked at me like I was the weird when
I was like here every day.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
Yeah. It is weird, though, when you see something of
the ordinary on a routine that you like, I get
same as you. We're all getting up early in the
morning and we're leaving early. And I remember a few
years ago I was up getting ready to come to
work and I came outside and there was a car
in my driveway huhne off, a bunch of people in it.
(33:20):
And at first you're just like, you know, you forget
what time it is, and you're thinking somebody dropping off
a package and they were there to We've had this
happen before, and maybe you guys have experienced it, where
people come into driveways and they go through people's cars
if they're left unlocked, right find stuff like a wallet
or whatever. And so as soon as I came out,
(33:42):
I said something, and then they just kind of kept driving.
When I got in my car, I realized there was
another car sitting at the bottom of our drive so
it was like there's like a getaway car, like are
they keeping watch or something? And then the other Yeah,
I'm sure they were there to do something and they
shouldn't do but I just happened to walk out. But
(34:02):
it's just a very weird feeling when you do the
same thing every day and don't ever experience much different
and then all of a sudden, somebody out of nowhere
pops up.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
I was thinking about this too, because in our old
office for many years, there was a woman that was
supposed to work I think her shift was like ten
pm to four am or something like. We had to
have a live body in the office twenty four hours
a day. But like for the first ten years I
worked there, I never and I would get in at
four and I would never see this person. Like I
didn't even know this person actually existed because they just
would always leave early or half the time they didn't
(34:33):
show up. But like, I've never heard anybody talk about
someone that's supposed to be here during the night, in
the middle of the night. Maybe it was a ghost.
Maybe maybe the ghost of Toews and Commons.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
They died in an old movie year whoas Wow?
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Okay, well anyway, so that was just kind of a
strange start to the day.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
What a straight Yet I emailed the boss and he
hasn't gone back to me yet, but I emailed him
to say, like, hey, is there someone that's supposed to
be here that I'm not aware?
Speaker 1 (35:00):
If we asked John, Like who usually comes.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
In your skytte, I'm even here, I'm here well before
John gets here, I know whatever.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
But they know who's been in this She could have been.
She was probably logged in, so maybe he saw maybe
he saw a name on it.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
We need to get to the bottom of it.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
I have seen plenty of crime shows. I will figure
this out.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
Please get on this all right, Luke Cohes. Here's fast
car A ninety three point one w POC.
Speaker 9 (35:29):
You get a.
Speaker 7 (35:29):
Fast come, I want to take it.
Speaker 4 (35:33):
I'm okay.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
Jelly Roll ninety three point one w p O C
so bringing a little Christmas magic to Baltimore, and Mariah
Carey is going to be here on Saturday night. I
was curious when I saw a commercial for that, I thought,
I wonder how that is selling.
Speaker 4 (35:54):
Would you go to see Mariah Carey for Christmas?
Speaker 5 (35:58):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (35:58):
Yeah, just checking? I want okay.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
So, there was an interview with her recently about all
the things she does to take care of herself. It
is a long list, people, Okay, so here we go.
She you know, confesses she has regular cosmetic procedures like botox,
skin rejuvenation treatments, lip fillers. She also is on a
strict diet. She eats Norwegian salmon and capers every day.
(36:22):
She gets lots, She gets a lot of sleep. She
uses several humidifiers to keep moisture in her skin and
in the air. She doesn't have overhead lighting because I
guess that's not good for you. She takes cold milk baths, oh,
on a daily basis, and she does not use mascara.
I don't know what the issue. Maybe I have lashes too,
(36:46):
but if you don't put mascara on them, you can't
see them. But I can't keep maskcar on min there's.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
Oh no, I meant like fake clashes.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
Oh oh, fake lashes. Yeah, she probably does. She probably
has fake slashes. Yeah, all right. So I put some
of the things up on our Facebook, and I just said,
what is it you're doing to stay healthy and good looking?
Because when I saw that long list, I had to
ask myself, is there really anything I'm doing?
Speaker 4 (37:12):
You put that on Facebook.
Speaker 5 (37:13):
I put it up on Facebook, where, notably all of
the good looking people are.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
Yes, exactly exactly, You've got it right, Okay. I just
thought it would be funny to hear some of everybody's answers.
So let's start with you, Bethany, What are you doing
to stay healthy and good looking?
Speaker 5 (37:32):
So? I have a skincare routine that I do and
then I shower sometimes that's nice. Yeah, that's about it.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
The days when you do shower, it is noticed and
we appreciate you okay, Well.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
In the same post for you, save here. When you
take a shower, we all feel better.
Speaker 4 (37:50):
There's a reason we all said in separate studios.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
Save here. What are you doing to stay healthy and
good looking?
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Nothing?
Speaker 3 (37:59):
Like from that perspective, like of all those that like
routines of doing things for like your skin and all that,
Like I I probably should do something, but I don't.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
Don't you go to the gym on occasion?
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Yeah, I mean like from that perspective, Yeah, But like
listening to Mariah Carey's list, it's very like aesthetic Like
it's very.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
Like that's kind of the balance that I'm looking for here, Like,
I get it, she's a celebrity, she's got to do
all these things. But what is it the average person
is doing to stay yealthy?
Speaker 3 (38:27):
I mean, I'm doing my best to eat better as
a whole. Like do you try to go to the
gym when I can? You know, when the schedule allows it,
And you know, I try to stay active as much
as possible.
Speaker 5 (38:37):
The average person's just trying to make rest to survive.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
Yeah. I try to be outside a little bit every
day to walk around and do some stuff out there.
So I would say that helps. And I also, especially
because of winter, use a ton of lotion and stuff
for my skin because I think that helps. But at
some point, when you get to a certain which your
your wish of looking beautiful kind of goes out. The
(39:04):
air goes out, you know, So I would say those things,
I don't. I'm I think I eat pretty healthy, but
I also enjoy sweets, like I'm not just watching every
single thing I eat. I want to enjoy life too,
So yeah, I think those would. I can't say I'm
getting a lot of resk because that wouldn't be true.
But I did put it up just to kind of
(39:25):
for fun to see what you guys are all thinking.
Is there something you're doing for yourself to stay healthy
and good looking? And I think that includes mental health too,
just you know, whatever it takes to stay healthy mentally.
We want to hear about that. So you can text
us seven seven nine six two, just start with higher. Hey,
you can put something on Facebook. You can call us

love to know.

Increased security measures are coming to Harford County's public schools.
Officials announced a new partnership between the county government and
the Board of Education that will include funding for security
improvements like advanced weapon detection systems and.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
The addition of new officers.
Speaker 3 (40:51):
The security measures come after several violent incidents in Hartford
County schools, including a murder inside of Joppatown High School
back in September. They're lighting up the Rock Feller in
a Center Tree tonight in New York City, but Baltimore
is ready to have its own light celebration. Baltimore City
is preparing for tonight's fifty third annual lighting of the
Washington Monument. Live music, food, dranks, local vendors all involved there.
(41:12):
You can also expect some road closures around the area
as the event takes place from five until eight o'clock tonight,
and if you're trying to stay healthy, new research has
found that short bursts of activity during your day can
help heart health, especially for women. And the new study
published yesterday, it found that for people who don't exercise,
things like carrying groceries or climbing stairs can have an
outsized impact on the risk of heart disease. So men
(41:33):
who got around five and a half minutes of vigorous
movement in a day saw a sixteen percent decrease in
the risk of heart problems. For women, though those numbers
are more around fifty percent. So just getting out there
and get a little bit of activity helps, whatever that
activity is, just getting it in.
Speaker 4 (41:46):
I wonder if you could stay in and have a
burst of activity.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
I see what you're saying, I see what you're getting at.
Feel like that could help every Maybe yeah, five and
a half minutes. So that seems like.
