Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alex Mirragos from NBC five and Telemundo is live in
Paris at the Olympics and he's gonna give us a
cool little update. So Alex, how you doing? Melissa?

Speaker 2 (00:09):
So great to be with you.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Bonjour, bozo, my friend vojor. My number one question is
are you ever coming back? So you think ever?

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Between the coffee, the croissance, and the views of Melissa,
it's gonna be hard. But I think my wife would
be pretty mad if I didn't come home, So yeah,
I do have plans to return.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Okay, good, Okay. I have loved watching you your enthusiasm
before you left, especially for our local athletes. It's just amazing.
How is it overall? Just tell me, I mean, really, like,
what's been the most amazing thing you've seen so far?

Speaker 2 (00:43):
I'd say the most thing amazing things so far and
we're not even halfway got to go, Melissa, would be
men's gymnastics, because I got to see that in person,
and to watch Deerfield's Paul Judah, that whole team, all
five of them down the line. I cannot describe it
to you, even though that's my job. It was just
tremendous to watch this athleticism, the twists and flips. I've

(01:07):
never seen anything.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Like it, and especially again deer Field's Paul Judah, how
cool is that to be there?

Speaker 2 (01:12):
It was such a great feeling to see him beaming
looking around the room, just taking it all in, to
know that everything has been worth it, that he's been
through to now be an Olympic medalist.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Just the way you describe it, I'm crying. I'm dear
enough from that.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
It's beautiful.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
You should be a reporter, Alex, You're very good at that. Oh,
you know what's coming up, like in the next few weeks.
I know break dancing, which they call breaking is coming up,
like August eighth and ninth. What else is it we
can look forward to?

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Yeah, well, break dancing is the newest Olympic sport. Yes,
you're right, breaking is what they call it here. A
little controversial, right because people.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Saying, well, it's.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Dancing, is it really a sport? But if you look
at what these breakers do, it is really amazing how
they're physically able to do this with their bodies. You know,
swimming is going all on throughout, but the big finish,
if you will, it's going to be track and field right,
you got one hundred dash for the men and women.
Both metals could be coming to Team USA with Shakri
Richardson on the women's side Noah Lyles on the men's side.

(02:07):
They could be the fastest woman and man on the planet.
We'll find out. And then you also have four wrestlers
from the Chicago area to watch for, three in Greco
Roman and then a woman named Kennedy Blades who's just
twenty years old. She's ready to make some noise when
she gets here. For sure. She's competing on the last
few days. Kennedy Blades, You're gonna know that name because
I think she's going to do really well here in Paris.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
And how can we follow you? Alex Maragos from NBC five.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
NBC five every single day, especially at ten pm and
six am. There's NBC Chicago dot Com, the NBC Chicago app,
and then I'm on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter as well.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Okay, and then what's your favorite thing that you've eaten
in France so far?

Speaker 2 (02:47):
That's a great question. I did get es cargo on
my second day. You know, it's something like you're here,
you got to do it, and it's great. I really
I really like that. I know, sales not really for everybody.
And then I've just been drinking a.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Ton of coffee and if they've been nice to you?
Has everyone been nice?

Speaker 2 (03:05):
I want to make extremely, extremely nice. There's volunteers here
from all over France, all over the world. Everybody's been
so accommodating. Ah good, Okay.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Alex Marigo's from NBC five at the first Telemundo check
out all of his Olympic updates. When you get back,
what's the date, I mean, when do you maybe get back.

we'll come back and then it's the Democratic National Convention.
So we're right back in the thick of things with
the news as soon as we come home.
