of a sudden have the flu really.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
Right before the game.

Speaker 6 (01:05):
So you know, once again, you know, I just I'm
not just saying this because I'm a Raider fan, and
I despise Kansas City.

Speaker 5 (01:13):
But this team, man.

Speaker 6 (01:15):
Every game, every time they play, something happens, and I'm sorry,
it's just so rigged for them with the whole mystery.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
You know, they didn't get this cold on the plane.

Speaker 6 (01:28):
I mean, come on, mister Pizer thing with their tight end.
I'm not even gonna say his name. Here's the thing
proposed to what's her name?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
I can't stand at what.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
I don't even know her name. You took a picture
with her Eric.

Speaker 6 (01:43):
The Swifties that they're trying to bring into the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
It's such as right, and then wait, you.

Speaker 6 (01:51):
Know, wait, I gotta add this in go ahead?

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Probably what team?

Speaker 5 (01:54):
What team fired Andy Reid? Okay?

Speaker 6 (01:59):
And who were they playing again in the super Bowl?
This is the second time? Okay, So who's going to
get the revenge again against the team that fired him?

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Are you feeling better now?

Speaker 5 (02:09):
Man?

Speaker 4 (02:09):
I do what happened? They're Eagles? They all got the
bird flu?

Speaker 6 (02:16):
All right, I gotta go. I'm out of here, guys,
I'll see you all right, have a good show.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Steven. I'm sorry. Here we go, man. So let's get
back on a point. We are a fishing show.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
Shall we talk to my anxiety?

Speaker 3 (02:25):
We got it out, Okay, So when it's all raged,
we know that already, Thank you, butt Bluck. So he's
back in town. Man, The man's back in the hot seat.
Jimbo Thomas Thomas Flyer. He wanted to bring him out.
Its actually your turn, man. You know Jimbo, I've missed you.
You know it's I had this moment yesterday. I was

(02:47):
laying on the couch in my bathroom.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Jell, get to it because the clock is taking and.

Speaker 6 (02:52):
You know, I just I thought to myself, I need
more Jimbo in my life.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
And I it was a very.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
It was a strange.

Speaker 6 (03:02):
Week because I didn't get to talk to you and
have our little intro.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
So I thought to myself, you know this show.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
See what's going on here? Man, can you just cut
his mic? I'm gonna bring jim all myself. Okay, this
is going on forever. Okay, bring him by, Joe, Hi,
jim Bo, thank you very much.

Speaker 7 (03:23):
Wow, jeez, that was a little weird.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
He's definitely on a different planet today.

Speaker 8 (03:28):
Man.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
I don't I don't know what book about on his nail.

Speaker 7 (03:30):
Bab are you wearing a rainbow flag?

Speaker 8 (03:32):
Shirt.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Yes, that is Jimbo at the top of flyer. We
chatted briefly my brother and talking about some lack of
fish this week.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
I'm not sure what's going on, man.

Speaker 7 (03:47):
Damn well, that hasn't been great for the last couple
of weeks. You know, we've had some spurts of decent fishing.
Earlier in the week, there was a not a great
sailfish bite, but there were some sailfish being caught, and
that's due to the current and the water conditions being
really good.

Speaker 9 (04:06):
That's what I'm attributing it to at least.

Speaker 7 (04:09):
And then mixed in there's a few a few kings
and a dolphin or too. But yeah, but that's kind
of standard for this time of the year. It's not
like running by any means. And then in the last
couple of days the current kind of died and therefore

(04:30):
the fishing hasn't been so good. But with that being said,
like yesterday there were there were a couple of sales caught.
There's been a lot of effort given towards trying to
catch things, so there's been a few sales caught, a
king or two. I did not hear of any dolphin.
The last couple of days. But I went out deep

(04:53):
I couldn't. I had a guy that if we hook
a sale, he'll cut the line. He just wants nothing
to do with them.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Yeah, So uh.

Speaker 7 (05:06):
We uh went out and dropped on a couple of
wrecks and the fish that we hooked got eaten by sharks,
which is the standard problem. And then uh we went
and tried to do the mutton snapper thing. We caught
a nice one about ten pounds right away, and I'm like, oh,
this might be good. And then we went for two

(05:29):
hours with nothing, so that, you know, worked for one
and then oh, you're gonna like this or we're I
think three while who's caught off Miami yesterday that I'm
aware of?

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Three?

Speaker 7 (05:44):
Well, you know there's lots of days there's none caught. No,
I'm talking off Miami, and that's just the ones I
know of.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
A very large body of water by the way, with
three that he knows of.

Speaker 6 (05:56):
And it's not like Jimbo's like calling, you know, every
single guy out a boat saying, hey.

Speaker 10 (06:01):
Guys, of course he is correct.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
Maybe he is, yeah, efficient, But there was a size
any size.

Speaker 7 (06:09):
No uptil about twenty five pounds Okay.

Speaker 5 (06:12):
That's a fairly moderate.

Speaker 7 (06:14):
Wahoo, right, Yeah, a couple of them, A couple of
them were caught on the troll, and then a couple
of one of them, my I note, was caught on
a live bait. So that's an option. So after hearing that,
I'm like, oh, well, I was down around fall. We
let us let's just go out. We'll troll the planters
back to government cut. Hopefully we get ourselves a wahoo.

(06:35):
And I did that, and no, we did not get
a wahoo, but we did catch a black fin tuna,
not huge, but big enough, and so we had We
ended up on our half day with the black fin
tuna in a nice mount snapper, which isn't bragging, right,
but we've done worse.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Well for a three thousand dollars day, it's not too bad, Joe.

Speaker 7 (07:00):
Now, it was only.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Two thousand, all right. So I talked to like three
or four caps last night and they all said to me,
it was pretty sketchy the entire week joint.

Speaker 5 (07:10):
You know, at this point I would really just.

Speaker 6 (07:12):
Bottom fish, you know, because you don't know where you're
gonna get.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
You can get. They're still catching good muttons.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
I go like use a Johnny jig over a wreck
or something bad. We talked to Johnny last weekend tile fish.
We can go tile fish fishing. Whatever you say, Jimbo.
It was last weekend. That was a major fautball.

Speaker 5 (07:31):
Trying to.

Speaker 7 (07:35):
I did think about tile fish because this there's one
client I had yesterday that's he just one's eating fish.
I haven't. I haven't attempted tile fishing since the season
opened on the first. I have heard that from the
couple guys that have done it that they seem to
be biting, but who knows.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (07:55):
The last time this guy was out, we caught a
bunch of nice buttons. So he's like, let's go catch months.
I'm like, that's good for me and another. The mountains
are there, but the water in the last few days
has been just as clear as it gets. Yeah, and
and uh, you know, we catch fish and clear water,
they still have to eat, but I think they're a

(08:17):
little more weary there. They can see a lot more
obviously in that clear stuff. So I've always done better
up on the reef when we're trolling for either groopers
or snappers, when we got a little murk in the water.
But yeah, I've done great when it's crystal clear as well.
Said that's a good excuse, but who knows?

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Do you fish down here as well? Because I know
you're saying you're getting a lot of fish and clear water?

Speaker 9 (08:42):
Oh geez, Yeah, I fished down here also from from
Miami to clear water and clear water.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
We both sighed like crack. Steven jokes as the growner
is the flyerhead that today matter what.

Speaker 7 (09:04):
Dude it is. We got a half day again. I
don't know which way we're gonna go. We'll see what
our guests are interested in, and then we'll decide if
it's worth doing.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
That or not all if we go, one last question
for me. I've only had like three words the entire
shows so far, Joseph, which booguard of the entire thing?

Speaker 4 (09:25):
So who's your pick for the Super Bowl? Or do
you care at all?

Speaker 7 (09:29):
Who's playing my band?

Speaker 4 (09:33):
That's why I'm so interested all this game?

Speaker 5 (09:35):
Okay, perfect?

Speaker 3 (09:36):
It's the Rams versus the Dolphins. Yeah they made it.
They made the big game.

Speaker 7 (09:40):
Oh they Dolphins really picked it.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
Up, all right, they set it up.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Yeah, they're in a big game today, jimbo On not
the Chiefs.

Speaker 7 (09:49):
I don't ye know, not the chiefs. So if I
get some squares, that's what I'm rooting for.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Alright, Buddy, hey man, have a couple of butt wiches
on us and having a weekend.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Buddy, Thanks Jim.

Speaker 7 (10:00):

Speaker 3 (10:05):

Speaker 5 (10:46):
That one was good.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
So anyway, the guys are Schneider and be Schneider and
checking us out. All right, take a little breakup back
we're talking to a Cordon to Rakowski. Uh, just you know,
Alex Rubber has got some situational things happening where he
basically said he had to get off the show and
his personal life, and we understand that and we wish
him very very well.

Speaker 5 (11:03):
Yeah, I got to say, listen, Alan, you're the man.
I love you.

Speaker 6 (11:06):
You know that, we both, I mean, we've enjoyed our
time with him, and you know, he's a funny guy,
he's a he's got a good heart, and he's a
great fisherman. So if you are looking for charters, maybe
we should give him one more plug.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
What do you think? Definitely for sure?

Speaker 5 (11:20):
What is it again?

Speaker 3 (11:21):

Speaker 6 (11:42):
I know, Ben very honoring him and.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
You just had to out of the bunch again.

Speaker 5 (11:48):

Whoa maybe welcome back to a cap who's been on
the show before. He's got the state record for the
biggest snakehead there. Joy, Oh, he's got the biggest snake
big snakehead.

Speaker 16 (16:59):
Man.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
This guy is a really well versed man. I catch
those beasts man.

Speaker 5 (17:05):
Seriously, the guy that broke his own record.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
He's broke his own record as a matter of fact.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
You bring him on.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
Corey Noakowski, My man, I saw you on this week
on Facebook. Was a big fish man.

Speaker 10 (17:16):
Good.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
Want to tell you, buddy, Corey, how are you guys doing.

Speaker 28 (17:19):
It's good to be back.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Doing great, Corey.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
So, man, have you had any more shots in breaking
your own world records twice lately?

Speaker 28 (17:29):
Uh?

Speaker 9 (17:29):
Uh?

Speaker 28 (17:30):
Well, the it's funny. I probably a couple of months
ago I had one that was about a half a
pound off a tye it. Wow, it was a fifteen pounder.
Not recently, but it was, you know, a couple of
months ago.

Speaker 9 (17:45):
Okay, that was a big ass.

Speaker 7 (17:46):
That was a big That was a very big fish.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
So yeah, I'd say, what everyone you catch is not
a small fish. They all look slobbish to me, Joe,
I see what a Facebook post. These are two handers, man.
You hold these things out, they're just monstrous fish sick man.

Speaker 28 (18:02):
So yeah, you know, not not every fish to catch
it is big. But that's definitely what I try to
go for every time, whether I take somebody or you know,
I just go out fun fishing for myself. It's you know,
you always go for the big ones.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
That's cool to.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
The Eric Brandon school of fish photo photography, where you
hold the fish out in front of camera to make.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
It look bigger.

Speaker 28 (18:23):
Uh, you know, it's funny. I get that. Sometimes I
try not to. I try not the long arm and
that's the big thing that's it looks like it. But
I try not to do that long army.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
That sounds like something dirty.

Speaker 8 (18:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (18:37):
See the difference is Cory, is that like you're trying
to do it right and you don't want to.

Speaker 5 (18:43):
Like really just throw it at the camera and.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
The h yeah, go ahead show And then you know,
Eric kind of I kind.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
A shell cracker this week. By the way, the look
ivy powdered when I had them on the camera.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
I think it was Eric would make a goldfish look
big on camera.

Speaker 5 (19:03):
The problem too, is Eric catches the same fish under
his dog.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
I do not.

Speaker 5 (19:08):
Peacock.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
It's it's corey now, okay. I'm just so he understands.
That's to fill them in the frogs off the bank,
kind of like, what's your technique?

Speaker 28 (19:20):
So yeah, we we use the top water lately. It's
it's the top war has been good. It's been better
later in the day as as it warms up, it's
you know, it's been stable the weather after all that
cold that we had, and the fisher, you know, it's
getting it cuts in that warm again. And once it
warms up later in the day, the top warter happens.

(19:40):
The biggest The biggest bite lately has been on the
subsurface like a like a vibrating jig or like a
chatter bait. It's just that bait has really been really
doing very well for.

Speaker 7 (19:51):
Most of the day.

Speaker 28 (19:53):
But as like I said, as it warms up later
in the day, that top water bite starts to pick up.
But if it continues to stay warm like it is,
and it looks like it's going to uh that top
word bites start being pretty good most of the day,
even even even with the sunny out as you know,
as much as it has been, but as long as

(20:13):
it stays warm, that should, that should really start picking
up more and more.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
And you're a peacock bass guy too, right, you do
both those?

Speaker 28 (20:20):
Yeah, I do the peacocks to do a lot of
large mouth I do a little more of the large
mouths and the peacocks, but I do the peacocks as well,
and then I'll do the clown knife fish. We haven't
getting some clown knifefish that's been kind of hit and miss.
I know the peacocks are starting to pick up because
they're starting to move into doing their their routine of
spawning because it's all the warmth that we've been having.

(20:43):
So that's kind of an ease starting to become an
easy bite, Corey.

Speaker 6 (20:47):
When you're going out and you want to target one
of your big boys, right, what I mean, I don't
want to give it away too much, but like what's
your go to baits or lures?

Speaker 5 (20:58):
Uh, when you're trying to get a big one.

Speaker 28 (21:02):
So when it when it comes to the snakeheads, if
it's I have to say one of like the one
of the techniques that's and it's not. It's not always
the most you know, I would say, uh, enjoyable way
of fishing for low most people. But it's like a
punching rig or like a flipping rig you use for
like bass fishing for snakeheads. It's it's more towards the bottom.

(21:27):
So it's like a bottom like technique. So you're using
like your if you find like a mat of weeds,
let's say, unless hopefully our water management doesn't spray all
of it. But if you find weeds, you find and
you find the you find the mats. These fish like
to go up underneath those mats, especially on like sunny days,
and the bigger fish especially and or if you run

(21:50):
it off a ledge. Let's say, you know these fish,
they if they're not moving around, they sit on the
bottom a lot. They don't really do a lot, so
they they'll sit in the hold, they'll sit under weeds.
So what they like to do is you sometimes you
got to just drop it right in front of them,
or you know, just a slower technique. That's a lot
of times I've caught a lot of my biggest fish

(22:11):
using that technique or even just a Texas rigged you know,
creature like a creature bade, like a crawdad or something,
because they really hit, they really hit crawded. They like
crawdad a lot of snakehead. That's that's like one of
their main diets.

Speaker 7 (22:25):
And uh yeah.

Speaker 5 (22:29):
What is that again?

Speaker 9 (22:31):
What's that?

Speaker 28 (22:32):
Yeah, like a cray fish. Yeah yeah, yeah, and they
they I mean, granted they just about all sorts of stuff,
I mean, eat other snakeheads, but they do like like
a crawdad type, like a crawdad type a soft plastic
but on the bottom. I mean if you if you

(22:53):
just kind of like you got to keep it towards
the bottom because they don't really suspend like a bass
or a peacock.

Speaker 4 (22:58):
Baso.

Speaker 6 (23:01):
Yeah, Now if you're using a live crawdad, how would
you hook that?

Speaker 28 (23:07):
Uh normally, I mean normally, like when you do it
for bass fishing, you would do it mostly like on
the tail. I mean that's how I always if I ever,
when I did do it a long time ago, it was,
you know, you poke it through the tail and they
kind of you know, that's really the way you would
really do it. You could tribe towards the head, but

(23:27):
you know, those pinchers will get you. But it's normally
like a tail thing. You usually hook them that way.
So normally that's kind of how the even though with
the you know they're going to look anyways, even with
the soft plastic, the artificial it's kinna kind of like
the pinchers are going to be facing up anyways, so
it's kind of making it look like a live one.

(23:48):
But that's but that punch and flipp and rig or
pitching rig that's a really really good technique. Not a
lot of people really know about that.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
I appreciate that you mentioned using those dads. That's called
live bait. Right. Yeah, we have a word, the word
it's banned on the show.

Speaker 5 (24:05):
Why did you bring that up?

Speaker 3 (24:06):
I didn't bring it up to say this word. It's
band of the show. Okay. It starts with a see,
we can't.

Speaker 9 (24:11):
Say that because we do.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
Come on, man, I.

Speaker 11 (24:14):
Didn't say the word.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Dude, you you implied the word.

Speaker 5 (24:18):
Cane night.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
You know three damn scroll monkey is in your pants.

Speaker 5 (24:28):
I got I got a bag of crawldaddies right here.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
Here you go shout with Joe.

Speaker 5 (24:34):
Crawl daddy.

Speaker 11 (24:35):
There you go.

Speaker 28 (24:37):
So, yeah, I'm not I'm not much of a I'm
not much of a live bait fisherman, but I do
a lot of I do a lot of artificial. That's
that's my thing. So so that.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
Word being used because he doesn't use that that bait.

Speaker 6 (24:51):
Yeah, And I got one more question, of course you do, Joe,
when you're going like full artificial and you don't got
the crawdaddies and all that stuff, and you're and you
can't let's say, you're not bring it down to the bottom,
and you only got like a few things in the box,
what would you go to to catch your biggest.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
Peacock in the box?

Speaker 28 (25:10):
Biggest peacock? That would that would well, that would either.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
Be a top you put up a spotor Joe, just
see no, buddy, okay, because I'm learning, I would I.

Speaker 28 (25:24):
Would, I would say, I would say like like And
granted they are expensive, those sort of polas, the floating
the wooden balsa, uh, one of those, one of those,
the old school one. Even though the bills do fall
off and they're twelve dollars a piece, but very easily,
but they do work. They do work very well. And

(25:45):
then or the lucky craft pointers. It's like a it's
like an extrap type bait.

Speaker 7 (25:50):
But I have that bait.

Speaker 28 (25:52):
I've caught a lot of nice peacocks on.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
I'll say that suspending jerk baits work great for me.
Peacocks off my balcony. Okay, anyway, Hey Corey Man, you've
been great back on the show.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
Man.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Really a terrific segment right there. I learned whole much
about feka, I mean, sneaky fas and I had not
known about before, especially usually the you know, crowd ads. Man,
I had heard that in the show.

Speaker 6 (26:15):
That is right, man, Like, that's the I hope people
are really listening to this.

Speaker 4 (26:20):
Rubbers.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
One more question I got for him. Do those rubber
fake ass crawd ass.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
With the hook? Is that we catch a fish? What?

Speaker 9 (26:32):
Yes?

Speaker 28 (26:32):
Yeah, so you would yeah you just yeah, you would
textas you would. Yeah you had Texas rigged those just
normal Texas rig with a hook that usually works really good.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
Yeah, that catch a fish. I don't know what I
just said, but it sounded like.

Speaker 2 (26:46):
Something fake ass ketch a fish, fake craw fish?

Speaker 8 (26:52):
Correct?

Speaker 5 (26:53):
Can you imagine if you know when you talk that
coming to the.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
Yeah, like yeah, like worse code man.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Right, wow, great man, Hey to fish with you, buddy,

That's right, that's right, that's right, good morning, Good morning
boy boy.

Speaker 4 (31:42):
That's what's happening?

Speaker 10 (31:44):
Oh that much, that much beautiful weather.

Speaker 5 (31:46):
H what's up is this?

Speaker 10 (31:48):
It is that the winner's over. Was the door closed?

Speaker 38 (31:50):
And now we're going to go in a spring shoot?
It was like almost ninety yesterday. Man, that was cool.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
Yeah, yeah, man, that cold Froyd finally stopped. We talked
to Jen last weekend. On the one forecast. She mentioned
maybe one more front, one.

Speaker 6 (32:02):
More one more when's that coming? I think that's now
like sixty six right now.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
We'll find out the forecast anyway.

Speaker 10 (32:10):
You know what I want to do. I want to
get on a slow boat and follow it. I mean,
I don't know how far I.

Speaker 4 (32:17):
Could go, but.

Speaker 38 (32:18):
It's like all I can think of is that one
hundred degree stuff or the ninety five you know, whatever
we fall into shortly, but that's okay because the usher's
in better fishing hopefully in some ways, so so anyway,
but it's been it's been kind of a pleasure having
it cool every morning, for sure. So anyway, for us
on the reward, we you know, we still are We're

(32:40):
still kind of doing the same thing fishing wise. We're
having Kevin t has quite a few folks show up,
which is pretty nice. We are doing some new stuff.
You know, we are at Bayside. It makes it really
difficult and expensive for folks to come there sometimes to park.
The mornings are relatively expensive, kid, but in the afternoons
it's it's like you might as well, you might as
well buy a ticket to a heat gainment and throw

(33:01):
that in because the park is probably moore. And if
you go fishing too, you're you're done. You know, you're
done for a month.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
But uh, those little restaurants all the way around around
your boat there are cheap beadia.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
There's quite a price.

Speaker 38 (33:12):
No, no, it's ouch every everywhere you go at ouch
ouch ouch.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
It's a lot of restaurants. Yeah, basically, yeah, so there's
a big restaurant.

Speaker 10 (33:24):
Yeah, yeah, there really is.

Speaker 38 (33:25):
There really is, and there's you know, it's uh, I said,
it's touchy for our locals and we're just now getting
back to work at nights, but we're doing we're gonna
do something special for residence. Now, we're just gonna do
fifty bucks. Come on fishing. If you're a resident, I
don't care if you bring eight people, he's gonna be
fifty bucks each. And I still say yeah, but it
still seems a lot to me because I you know,

(33:45):
when I started in this business, it was six bucks.
So that that but that just dates me. That's all
that does. So and the house was twelve thousand dollars
or something, so that's just every dude, everything's relative, right exactly.

Speaker 10 (33:58):
Yeah, I figured I figured.

Speaker 38 (33:59):
You know what, we're going to start blasting that. We
want to get more locals out, you know, we you know,
we have a lot of a lot of transient folks
that fish with this, that have a great time. But
one of my best things has always been, you know,
taking care of our residents at locals.

Speaker 10 (34:11):
So we're opening back up three four nights a week, weekends.

Speaker 38 (34:14):
And let me tell you some night fishing off Miami
is exceptional. A lot of people don't know that, a
lot of people don't know how really good the night
fishing is for yellow tails and mangrove snappers.

Speaker 10 (34:24):
You don't have to go to the keys if you
got a boat. You really don't.

Speaker 38 (34:27):
Uh, there's loads of yellow tails off off Miami and
it's not a secret.

Speaker 10 (34:31):
You can catch them in the daytime too. Fishery.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Sorry, waye, you have a target Kubert snapper on the
rewards sometimes and to drop a bug.

Speaker 38 (34:41):
Now we've caught I can remember my first keeper I
caught in like nineteen seventy six or seven. But we
used to catch them every now and then years ago.
Now we're probably catching eight or ten a year. That's
in the daytime too.

Speaker 4 (34:57):
Wow.

Speaker 38 (34:58):
So there's more. And I got some friends that dive
a lot. They're seeing herds of them, they're seeing schools
of them.

Speaker 10 (35:04):
In the end. Let's in the end, let's school one
of my.

Speaker 39 (35:07):
Herds, schools schools herds, don't he just her schools. One
of the other man heard, where is it when you
get to bigger, bigger?

Speaker 5 (35:18):
But multiple.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
Herds? The plethora? No, man, what a lot of them? Okay?

Speaker 38 (35:26):
So so you get into you get into multiples of
certain species.

Speaker 10 (35:30):
They call them different things. What get it?

Speaker 4 (35:33):
I don't know, man, you're the you're the pro or
not okay, whatever.

Speaker 38 (35:38):
But the bottom line is there's more cuberras around now
than I've ever seen, and it's a beautiful thing.

Speaker 10 (35:43):
My my, uh. One of my.

Speaker 38 (35:45):
Captain's sons caught one in the North Lake three years ago.
Weighed about twenty five pounds on a live mallow in
the bay. Well spot in the bay where that mako
shark was.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
He just I thought everyone Wayne was on a lobster
tail or a lot ful lobster man.

Speaker 4 (36:00):
Stop it, I thought, Wayne.

Speaker 6 (36:03):
I hear, Wayne, I hear that they catchlades, a lot
of them with mullet.

Speaker 38 (36:11):
That's what I'm saying, though, Yeah, they catch Look, don't
don't be too bait specific.

Speaker 10 (36:16):
You know what.

Speaker 38 (36:16):
Back in the seventies, I was the only voice that
was screaming that that swordfisher just are just like sharks
with a nose. And they'd laugh at me because, oh, no,
they're fancy. Well everybody thought they were fancy because when
they're swimming around the surface, they're stuffed. They don't want
to eat. So they thought, oh, these are very elusive fish.

Speaker 10 (36:32):
No they're not. They're stupid.

Speaker 38 (36:34):
Anything anything that's in two thousand, Wait a second, anything
it's in two thousand feet of water. They needs to
snakehead right. That was a big thing, by the way,
So where does all that go? It's like, what are you?

Speaker 10 (36:47):
You know, it's not it's not a fancy thing.

Speaker 38 (36:50):
Put them something in the bite zone, you know, and
they see it, they're gonna eat it. So yeah, we
started catching swordfish back in the seventies on benita strips,
on dead goggle eyed, didn't matter. I can remember a
trip or two with Danny Kipness and I down off
North Keelargo there where we hook thirty forty qu berres
in the night.

Speaker 10 (37:07):
We never even used the live bait.

Speaker 38 (37:09):
Well, you just use dead baits, half a mullet, a crack.
They love crabs, by the way. Tinfish they love tinfish. Okay,
so and their fish and their snappers. So don't get
to now now the big deal about the cool thing
about the lobsters. And I think this is the hook.
You know, you have your client buy thirty lobsters, right because.

Speaker 4 (37:27):
You know, you know, I know it's gonna go.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Yeah, you come back, you're not only used half of them, okay,
and you take the other half he hadn't used. You
take them home and eat them. That's what you say. Really, Yeah,
client buys thirty, they used fifteen. You bring fifteen tails
home and you got it.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
You got a meal? Man, say right, yeah, that's the hook.

Speaker 10 (37:47):
See that's all. You gotta have lobsters and you gotta
have this size.

Speaker 4 (37:50):
Sure encourage you man, So way are we gonna rock?

Speaker 3 (37:54):
The clock is always on the show here man, But
you still take those kids out thirteen and under for
free and uh abs version time with dad and stuff.

Speaker 38 (38:00):
On the boat the residents, yep, residence only fifty bucks.
I'm doing two presentations in the boat show, y'all look
me up.

Speaker 10 (38:07):
Next week.

Speaker 38 (38:08):
We're talking about being an ethical angler. A lot of
people I don't know if they want to do that
or not, but we're going to give some some basic
courtesy lessons about fishing on Thursday and then on Saturday.

Speaker 10 (38:18):
On Saturday, we're.

Speaker 38 (38:19):
Going to do more of a youth family oriented Yeah
you're right, good good.

Speaker 4 (38:24):
Luck for that, right?

Speaker 38 (38:25):
How about you know what I should do if I
did it? If I did, of course, I'm not a mug. Guys,
it would probably go over better.

Speaker 3 (38:31):
Probably better because yeah, courtesy and fishing doesn't exist Joe
around my world, guys, are trying to take the on
Wayne's book, for example, right fishing with my son's on
his boat before. And there's certain way I will tell
you there's guys on that boat that are old school
guys who have been there time and time again, older gentlemen, right, yeah,
And they both have their spots in a transfer area
and you cannot get near that spot or they will

(38:52):
kick your ass.

Speaker 4 (38:54):
That's their spot.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Do they like their sign up with their name in
the corner or something.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
To look at them and you just know you don't
approach that spot because stairs man, right Wayne.

Speaker 10 (39:02):
Well, there's some truth to that.

Speaker 38 (39:05):
But I will tell you this, I got no crusties.
I don't have the white boot for here. I don't
have crusty guys that chase all the folks away with
a sigarette.

Speaker 4 (39:12):
And that's good, good, right, all right?

Speaker 3 (39:18):
Right, So the fisher rewards fleet bad we contact you
that that.

Speaker 38 (39:23):
Well look at on Facebook, on reward fishing Fleet or
on Fishingmiami dot com, which is there's only one of those,
by the way, that's mine.

Speaker 4 (39:31):
So I like that, Waite. We thank you very much
for your conservation.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
Carry the kids you're putting out there.

Speaker 38 (39:39):
Somebody somebody's got to wave the flag a little bit
because you know it's all going the wrong way.

Speaker 10 (39:43):
But you got it. Everybody should be doing a little
something whatever it is.

Speaker 3 (39:46):
Well, good luck with that seminar about kind of kind
of anglers. You'll have one attendee. Yeah, good luck with that.
Good Okay, we got like a priest collar.

Speaker 5 (39:55):
You might thanks, Captain Wayne.

Speaker 4 (39:59):
Wayne.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
Let's go on to see shall I ll doup?

Speaker 6 (40:05):
Yeah, I'm sharing the show, by the way, so maybe
you take very nice.

Speaker 5 (40:09):
Of you to share way.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
It's what I do.

Speaker 18 (40:11):
Man.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
You know, let's talk to the head of the Matthew
dive team there, Jim the shill, I might add, Chiefy
Matthew with his new patented snared thing.

Speaker 4 (40:22):
He's promoted. He went to my school.

Speaker 5 (40:24):
He's telling him he graduated first. He graduated first in
the class.

Speaker 4 (40:28):
Oh I know he didn't.

Speaker 11 (40:29):
Very proud.

Speaker 3 (40:29):
He's learned from the best man. Yes, true, buddy, hell on, jimmy.

Speaker 40 (40:33):
Boy, Yes, sir, yes sir, yes sir.

Speaker 5 (40:37):
Here we go, alright, d Wayne, Jim, hang up, Hang up?

Speaker 4 (40:42):
He and again, man, hang up, hang up? Clear back,
hang on?

Speaker 5 (40:45):
Why does his phone keep doing it's.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
Always you know, night trucks or something.

Speaker 3 (40:50):
It's all he's on night trucks man. But every time
we did have him on the show, last three shows,
he said like Mickey Mouse times ten Doddy god Man.
So anyway, so the waters have been calmer and the
waters warming up. I'm sure he'll tell us it's die
is better now. The water's got a little warmer, which
is great.

Speaker 10 (41:04):
Yea.

Speaker 3 (41:05):
And I did look on his Facebook posts week. I
didn't see any spears and brain holes, by the way,
I didn't see that. I saw some bugs, Okay, I
didn't see that the brain holes being invaded by a
spear gun.

Speaker 5 (41:15):
So you approve of his catches.

Speaker 4 (41:17):
I think we'll be safe from the spear gun to
the brainhole thing.

Speaker 5 (41:20):
As long as Eric Brandon approves.

Speaker 4 (41:22):
Let's see, we're good. Carlos.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
Is he back on the horn, man, Let's bring it
back out of he's around man, Jimmy back, buddy.

Speaker 7 (41:30):
I am, I think I am?

Speaker 40 (41:31):
How do I sound?

Speaker 4 (41:32):
You still sound very girlish? First, Garmel, you know you're.

Speaker 40 (41:35):
Telling Oh that's okay, you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (41:39):
All right, So what's the Chieving crew been doing this week?
What's happening?

Speaker 5 (41:41):
Brother?

Speaker 4 (41:41):
What's going on man, listen, we do.

Speaker 40 (41:43):
We dovee yesterday on a Lady Go Diver that's the
dive boat that Dixie Divers has out of Deerfield Beach
and we actually went really south. We were south of
Lauderdale by the Sea and special we went south of
Port Everglades. So like in the Dana area, really decent.
First of all, the weather has been spectacular and just

(42:07):
looking at the forecasts, it's going to continue to be
really really good. Now that being said, seventy three degree
water temperature is a little chilly on the willie, Okay,
so you know, for all you locals, seventy three probably
doesn't get it. But I am a five mil with
my hood in vests and it was actually comfortable. I

(42:28):
was okay. Visibility was kind of only thirty foot or so,
and that was unusual because we had a south current,
and normally a south current we get a little bit,
you know, yeah, we forget a better usually type of deal.
We get you know, better current visibility with a south current.
I can tell you this though, that the muttons were around.

(42:49):
That was good. Muttons are there again. Spearing of a
good sized mutton is kind of challenging. So that being said, you.

Speaker 8 (43:00):
Know, glad to hear it.

Speaker 40 (43:02):
Man, Wait a minute, the big hawk fish are there,
but you can't take them. And we really red groupers
are everywhere now the time, but you can't take them
either you know, a group or and hawking.

Speaker 4 (43:18):
You just three species you can't spear. Man, I'm happier that.
How great is that? Three species?

Speaker 40 (43:25):
You can't The lobsters are there, buddy, The lobsters are there,
which is really good. Onesies one here, one there, one there,
one there, one there kind of had to work for him.
It wasn't like you came into a honey hole and
there's a you know, a six of them or whatever.
So they're still either just short or just legal, so
you have to have your measuring device, not an egger

(43:47):
among it at all. So that that's and and they're
still in the second reef, which is amazing this time
of year. We're in February and we're in shallow water
forty foot unbelievable, and they're there. So that's a good sign.
We've had a good year. We have less than two months,
which is March thirty first it ends. But yeah, all

(44:09):
good man, all good, you know, get on this new
this weather, get out there and do it. Make sure
you bring your chiefly snare by Lobster League.

Speaker 4 (44:17):
Okay, were speaking? Give you a chance.

Speaker 3 (44:20):
Are you gonna be at the Miami National Boat Show,
which starts this coming Wednesday?

Speaker 7 (44:23):
I am I am not. I am not, buddy.

Speaker 40 (44:26):
Yeah, yeah, now now we we we've done it a
couple of years ago. And yeah, I mean it's expensive, buddy.
You know, we're we You know, our profit margin for
our snare is not much, so it's tough to get
that out there. So maybe this is Eric, Maybe if
you could sell a few at your boat area.

Speaker 5 (44:48):
You know that is my you're dud, Jim, you know.

Speaker 4 (44:55):
You're done.

Speaker 11 (44:56):
I am not.

Speaker 3 (44:56):
We could sell boats, not sell your damn crazy ass
slink snare thing.

Speaker 4 (45:02):
Man, it happened, And what.

Speaker 40 (45:04):
We could do we could do an exchange program. For
every lobster snare you sell, we can give you a
lobster to eat. How about that?

Speaker 10 (45:11):
Come on?

Speaker 9 (45:12):
How that?

Speaker 5 (45:12):
I love that?

Speaker 3 (45:13):
That's the lousiest propose our head. I gotta sell a
snare get one tail? Yeah, dude, what kind of crap
is that?

Speaker 4 (45:19):
Man?

Speaker 11 (45:20):
Well on you.

Speaker 5 (45:22):
If I saw on one snare what's a tail go for?

Speaker 4 (45:25):
I get twelve?

Speaker 2 (45:25):
What's a tail go for?

Speaker 41 (45:27):
Ten?

Speaker 2 (45:27):
Twelve bucks?

Speaker 4 (45:27):
And tail a long time?

Speaker 40 (45:29):
At least ten bucks, maybe fifteen, depends on where you are. Okay,
you know so, Yeah, that's a good deal, buddy, that's bought.

Speaker 4 (45:37):
Tail in a long time. I wouldn't know what it costs.

Speaker 40 (45:39):
We got Eric, We got it all by.

Speaker 4 (45:43):
Judge, old guys, do jip.

Speaker 3 (45:45):
We're gonna rock man. Have a great weekend, buddy, Okay,

Speaker 47 (54:15):
I'm looking forward to springtime myself. Right around the corner, man.

Speaker 3 (54:19):
A lot of our captives said, it's been a really
tough week making.

Speaker 47 (54:22):
It has man. The general talk in the doc is like,
did you got a bite today?

Speaker 10 (54:26):
You know?

Speaker 47 (54:28):
But you never know when that's fifty pounds sixty pounds
while who's going to buy your lines? You can't get

Speaker 4 (54:41):
Okay? Show it. Yeah, number number four or five? Put down?

Speaker 7 (54:45):
I do a number four and number eight.

Speaker 47 (54:48):
Dude, the size of my boat, I need a pretty
good spreads.

Speaker 10 (54:51):
Hang it up.

Speaker 4 (54:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 47 (54:52):
A lot of guys go six and four, but I
go four and eight. Wow, I go to on a
nineteen foot boat.

Speaker 4 (54:58):
Yeah. Yeah, he's all over the place. Man.

Speaker 5 (55:01):
That's good.

Speaker 3 (55:02):
So do you do you tip of those baits and
ties or those planters with like sea witches or what's
your special?

Speaker 9 (55:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 47 (55:08):
I use all locally tight sea witches from Freddie Collins. Yeah,
and I do my own special Benita strips that I
cut in brine myself.

Speaker 4 (55:19):
That is.

Speaker 47 (55:21):
I just think it is the grinding.

Speaker 3 (55:23):
Explain we have brandy fishing with all the type shot.
Explain what a sea witch is and what you're tipping
with belly strip.

Speaker 10 (55:31):
Let's see.

Speaker 47 (55:31):
So everybody is here now probably listening. It's either from
Jersey or New York. So I'm going to compare it
to a bucktail, but one that swims on a fishing
line instead of tight to it. Okay, and uh, then
we put a little Benita strip on the end the
access the tail and flutters in the as you're trolling it.
And that's it man, the fish level, all the fish level.

Speaker 7 (55:52):
Fish tuna.

Speaker 3 (55:54):
Sorry, Steve, you and me both. I had two of those.
But anyway, so sea which has come of various colors.
I know you're going to say this, man, what's your
go to color on your sea witch?

Speaker 9 (56:03):
Uh?

Speaker 47 (56:04):
I changed? I have a pink and blue one right
now and a red and black.

Speaker 4 (56:10):
Are you having? Joe he's on the Facebook street. You
hear that shot.

Speaker 3 (56:13):
He's just beam it because you said pink. Okay, because
Joe's always about.

Speaker 6 (56:17):
It works man, Listen, I've been using pink since using actually,
like Sehn said, bucktails in New Jersey with uh, we
had that. Yeah, they have these pink finesse. It's called
finesse and you would jig it off the bottom and
you catch weak fish.

Speaker 5 (56:33):
Like so pink is the color pink buck tail? Huh no? No,
oh yeah, they have pink bucktails in Jersey.

Speaker 9 (56:39):
What the best?

Speaker 47 (56:40):
The best one is a white bucktail was either a
yellow finetse or pink finets on the back of the
Joe know.

Speaker 4 (56:45):
A pink bucktail everything?

Speaker 6 (56:47):
Well, no, you're picturing like the whole for like everything pink.

Speaker 5 (56:50):
What's the strap? It's the band on it and.

Speaker 4 (56:53):
The shop in Windwood. Do you shop at Grizzlies? Grizzlies Okay,
I don't think they're a business anymore.

Speaker 5 (57:01):
Which shop used to?

Speaker 4 (57:03):
Which one will manage to shop at?

Speaker 5 (57:05):
Well, there's Erics.

Speaker 4 (57:10):
Have you ever been to Eric's on the water lately?

Speaker 3 (57:12):
Oh it's so great, you're so joy Oh boy? So
what's the weather conditions like out there? Water chopping or
this calmer?

Speaker 47 (57:20):
It's pretty shoppy. It's these winds. I mean it's only
like one to two, but it's definitely a little when
you're supposed to be as normal this time of years.
Seems that totally some work as a.

Speaker 4 (57:29):
Tree blowing here, man, it's weird.

Speaker 5 (57:31):
Yeah, there's like yeah here in Miami.

Speaker 47 (57:33):
It's like to east right here, so not too bad.
But hopefully drive some ahi and fishing.

Speaker 4 (57:40):
Let's talking.

Speaker 5 (57:41):
You should do some tile fishing, man, because I mean.

Speaker 47 (57:44):
From yeah, maybe tomorrow when I get to day. I
got an electric real now with the real battery, so
hopefully I can go out there and and try.

Speaker 4 (57:52):
It out some deep dropping that great shot.

Speaker 3 (57:54):
A guy who doesn't fish at all recommended, Hey, why
don't do some tile fishing?

Speaker 4 (57:57):
Like what?

Speaker 47 (57:58):
Yeah, he knows some extra fish, that's why.

Speaker 4 (58:01):
But he ain't fishing at all. Well, he says, he
tells you what you ought.

Speaker 6 (58:04):
To be doing, like I don't hear from everybody like
I you know what your price, what you preach?

Speaker 4 (58:09):
Joey, I'll go with Sean tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (58:12):

Speaker 47 (58:25):

Speaker 4 (58:58):
You hear that, Hey, money, he said, your money's almost

Speaker 5 (59:01):
Hey, money's money man.

Speaker 3 (59:02):
Wow, man, unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (59:05):

guess I love that.

Speaker 3 (59:10):

Speaker 4 (01:05:21):
Anyway. Just go to our friend Benny and ask his
opinions about fishing, voating football in life, shall we show?
Let's do it?

Speaker 50 (01:05:31):
Good one to Bennybody, Hey, good morning guys. We are
live Super Bowl weekend, South Florida.

Speaker 4 (01:05:37):
Let's go Yeah, all right, So are you into this game.
Are you not annoying? Man?

Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
Benny's into it?

Speaker 4 (01:05:43):
Man, That was me pretending I was into it for like, Bennie.

Speaker 5 (01:05:47):
I know you.

Speaker 2 (01:05:47):
I bet you got money throwing down somewhere in this
game Jeeves all the way.

Speaker 50 (01:05:53):
I didn't put money on the game, but I like
doing those boxes where you pick numbers and whoever randomly
has the final score or whatever.

Speaker 4 (01:06:00):
Yeah, that's my thing for the Super Bowl.

Speaker 50 (01:06:01):
I don't get much into the bedding, especially, you know,
throwing the rigged word around.

Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
Why a you're gonna put your money on that?

Speaker 2 (01:06:06):
You know, By the way, Benny's Panthers were in d
C with the Trumpster this week.

Speaker 4 (01:06:11):
Yeah, buddy about that? Yeah? How about that?

Speaker 5 (01:06:16):
So all right, I'll wait till we're at let's get
the report first.

Speaker 4 (01:06:19):
So let's go off that topically about the rig football game. Yeah,
how much trouble all day Betty was finding Betty's fishing
charters this week? Buddy.

Speaker 50 (01:06:28):
Yeah, so it's been a pretty much hit or miss week.
I mean, we could say we've caught mahi tuna, wahoo, kingfish,
and salefish this week, not any not in any productive fashion,
not with any big pattern. You know, it's been good
when there's been some current, and when there hasn't been current,
it's been a little.

Speaker 4 (01:06:46):
Hit or miss.

Speaker 50 (01:06:47):
So we've had a couple of trips that had a
little more action than others. On those days the water
was nicer, the current was ripping a little harder to
the north, and on our slower days we were struggling
to find that current. So really that's what it boil
down to this week. If you could find the current,
you're finding the fish. And when that current stopped and
slowed down, we were having a hard time getting a bite.

Speaker 5 (01:07:07):
It's all about the current, man, current, Right. Why has
there been a south current so much lately? Have you
noticed that? That's all I keep hearing.

Speaker 50 (01:07:16):
Yeah, I mean there's a lot of times of the
year we did with that year round. Even we see
in some of your summer slam tournaments we get out
there thinking the current's going to be ripping to the north,
we start paddling out to the south, and then before
you know it, we're down south at Commercial and we're
like all right, wow, yeah, So you.

Speaker 4 (01:07:32):
Know, it's it's tough.

Speaker 50 (01:07:34):
That's that's one of those things we all try to
figure out and explain and if we think we could
figure some of these patterns out, we'll be able to
figure out the bite a little more. But ultimately that's
going to revolve around the moon and the tides.

Speaker 3 (01:07:46):
You know, it's funny, but a lot of our caps
over the last couple of weeks was saying the fishing
has been a real struggle man, Like, you know, a
couple here, couple there is this normal this time of
year to have fishing slow down or is this a
global warming or whatever else?

Speaker 50 (01:07:58):
Yeah, it is your typical, your typical bite for this
time of the year. It does seem a little slower
than usual for for our typical our winter time bite.
So yeah, I could say that, But again, whenever this
time of the year, it's always about finding the fish.
I mean, when you're you know, running around looking for sailfish,
you can't just pop out in front of whatever inlet
you're fishing and assume they're always going to be there.

(01:08:19):
You know, if you pop out and you're looking for
sailfish and the water is green and there's no current,
that's a day where you're gonna want to go run.
And so you find some better current and better water
with some life in it.

Speaker 4 (01:08:29):
All right, O man, you run Joe? Yeah, is it
running gun? Pretty much?

Speaker 5 (01:08:33):
Running good?

Speaker 4 (01:08:34):
Running good?

Speaker 50 (01:08:35):
I mean you know that we call it running gun
for mahi, for selfish. Yeah, you could call it running gun.
A lot of people do that. There's a lot of times,
even some days and when it's real slow and some
selfish tournaments, guys will just run around looking for floppers.
You know, if you're sitting in one spot not being productive,
it would be a sailfish jumping out the water, moving
down the coast.

Speaker 5 (01:08:55):
What's the flopper set it?

Speaker 4 (01:08:57):
I didn't hear the answer. Sailfish that's jumping out the water. Basically, well,
I got some.

Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
Extra batteries for hearing eighty few.

Speaker 5 (01:09:05):
What was he saying?

Speaker 50 (01:09:07):
I didn't hear the answer, man, He thought I was
gonna say, Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (01:09:12):
That's actually wait to bring that topic up in a second, man.
So anyway, Benny, it sounds like a real tough week
for a lot of guys. But you're still catching fish,
which is great because you guys always produced. Definitely, Ben,
he's produce, yep, Joe produced.

Speaker 5 (01:09:27):
Something's really going on with you today?

Speaker 3 (01:09:29):
I got this raw coffee. I didn't bring my coffee
I get this car. What are you drinking, dumbass kalaba
thing here?

Speaker 4 (01:09:35):
It is poisoning me.

Speaker 5 (01:09:36):
I've never seen you do it this much.

Speaker 4 (01:09:38):
Whatever. Man, I'm just saying, go highlight reel Okay.

Speaker 5 (01:09:41):
Yes, okay, I gotta make one the highlights.

Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
Yeah, okay in my hair. Anyway, Betty, So where's Aaron
Rodgers going after the season? Man, he's staying there, going.

Speaker 50 (01:09:51):
I'll go the Amsterdam hang out there another game in
London so he can be a spectator maybe.

Speaker 4 (01:09:57):
Oh boy, he said, Amsterdam.

Speaker 50 (01:10:00):
Yeah, that's where he was hanging out before the day
game over in London last year.

Speaker 9 (01:10:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:10:05):
They get smoking smoking over there, real big time afterdam.

Speaker 6 (01:10:08):
I got a feeling you guys are gonna keep him, man,
I just you're not drafting high up.

Speaker 5 (01:10:16):
Yeah, you're not in like I mean unless you guys,
because here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (01:10:51):

Speaker 5 (01:10:55):

Speaker 8 (01:16:33):
How's it going?

Speaker 4 (01:16:34):
Thank you for calling ladies, Thank you, Norm.

Speaker 3 (01:16:39):
So you and I had a nice little chat last
night of my Broward County fishing, and I picked up
from last week big time, a lot better actually from
our last week report.

Speaker 5 (01:16:49):
Yeah, but that's not saying much.

Speaker 9 (01:16:51):
Uh.

Speaker 52 (01:16:52):
So let's let's we'll start from the bottom and go
up from there because that's seemingly what what the fish
has done.

Speaker 4 (01:16:59):
Let's do that.

Speaker 52 (01:17:01):
Bottom fishing is actually pretty good right now. Uh, We're
we're starting to see some some pretty good catches of
yellow tails at night. And as long as you've got
a little bit a current, preferably a north current, uh,
as long as you chum, they will come. So, uh,
the yellow tails have been pretty good. We've been catching

(01:17:23):
some really big vermilion snappers on the bottom during the day,
and I mean there's like there's some really good ones,
like some twenty inch per million snappers and that's a
big giant er million snapper. So again that's current dependent.
And there's been a few golden tilefish being caught further
out to the east. Uh, if you're bottom dropping. Uh,

(01:17:46):
there's also some uh been a few good swordfish being caught.

Speaker 47 (01:17:52):
Uh.

Speaker 52 (01:17:52):
So you know, bottom fishing seems to be kind of
the ticket in Broward County from the to the sword grounds.

Speaker 4 (01:18:00):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 52 (01:18:00):
And uh, if you're trolling, if that's your game, uh,
it's gonna be a little a little on the slow side.

Speaker 7 (01:18:07):
Uh.

Speaker 52 (01:18:07):
There were a smattering of wahoo's being caught earlier this week.
I haven't heard of any in the last.

Speaker 10 (01:18:14):
Couple of days.

Speaker 5 (01:18:16):
A few kings, a few.

Speaker 52 (01:18:17):
Black fans in the afternoon, a little bit of a
selfish bite. But really, the the live bait, the trolling
game has been just a little bit slower.

Speaker 7 (01:18:28):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (01:18:29):
So if you're out for me, i'd hit the bottom.

Speaker 52 (01:18:33):
And that's really that's gonna be your best bet this weekend.

Speaker 6 (01:18:36):
I think, I well, here's I got two things. One
I think i've well, I've been hearing with what's the
name of that snapper?

Speaker 4 (01:18:48):
Yellow? No red, no, pink, pink.

Speaker 5 (01:18:55):
No, no, oh my gosh, I can't it's on the
tip of my tongue, yellow tail.

Speaker 4 (01:19:00):
No.

Speaker 5 (01:19:01):
I've talked about you lanes.

Speaker 4 (01:19:03):
It's just like name that fish. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:19:05):
No, but the people have been like killing it, getting
a bunch of lane snappers. Have you been hearing that?

Speaker 3 (01:19:09):
I haven't heard nor beck Off the actual authority mentioned
Lane Snapper.

Speaker 5 (01:19:13):
But yeah, you say, like in his area like Port
Everglades and all that, you.

Speaker 3 (01:19:17):
Know more than Norm does. Obviously, no snappers are biting,
he said ver millions.

Speaker 6 (01:19:22):
Okay, no, I know, but I wanted to add in
and ask if he's been hearing about lanes.

Speaker 4 (01:19:26):
Because ask him ahead.

Speaker 5 (01:19:28):
Please, Hello, Norm, have you been hearing about Lane Snapper?

Speaker 36 (01:19:32):
No?

Speaker 5 (01:19:34):
Oh, there you go, Joe.

Speaker 7 (01:19:36):
No, I'm.

Speaker 5 (01:19:38):
Lane Joe job, good job. I knew he would get mad,
but that.

Speaker 52 (01:19:44):
Doesn't mean But that doesn't mean anything either. They probably
have been Usually when the brief goes off and allers.

Speaker 4 (01:19:53):
You just hung yourself out of dry either man, it's crazy.

Speaker 5 (01:19:55):
No, it just that I've just been hearing about lane snappers.

Speaker 4 (01:19:58):
Nobody else has.

Speaker 5 (01:19:59):
But you No said he just admitted it.

Speaker 3 (01:20:01):
He just mentioned on Late Snappers. In ten years of
this program, I recall that no brought that up man.

Speaker 6 (01:20:08):
Port Everglades, not Miami or Pompton or you know.

Speaker 5 (01:20:15):
All right, Steven's house.

Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
Anyway, Norm, buddy, thanks for bringing U strong every weekend man.
Thanks for correcting Joe and his dip dipstick late snapper.

Speaker 5 (01:20:25):
Well, there was one.

Speaker 6 (01:20:25):
There was one last thing I wanted to ask, Yes,
So we had Wayne conn on earlier this morning and
he was talking about they were getting Crewberra's like in
more with what was the bait mutton or mullet Man,
I can't talk now, this thing is contagious. Oh my gosh, Mullett,

(01:20:48):
have you been hearing anything on that front with the
Crewberras in the Port Everglades.

Speaker 52 (01:20:54):
Usually anytime we've seen to Bera snappers being caught in
any way for fashion, uh, it's usually during the mullet
run when there's a lot of bait in the park.

Speaker 9 (01:21:05):
Uh.

Speaker 52 (01:21:06):
So that's that's about the only time.

Speaker 4 (01:21:08):
And I have not seen or.

Speaker 52 (01:21:10):
Heard any about any Couberts being caught around Port Everyblades
right now, but I would expect that maybe when we
start to see uh a spring mullet row, we might
see it.

Speaker 4 (01:21:21):
I'm taking those.

Speaker 5 (01:21:22):
Before you go.

Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
Norm is a friend of yours on the Facebook Streme
just because she's a big fan of yours, Heather Star
says Woo Norm got a big fan there, buddy, so
you know. Yeah, so Heather Star says Norm, Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:21:36):
I have that effect on women.

Speaker 4 (01:21:43):
Time there Joey wo hoo. Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 3 (01:21:46):
Well, thank you, Norm. Have a great weekend, buddy, Turn
it up. All right, guys, run that dog, Run that dog.
Let's see what's up with our good friend Johnny Stabill.
We chatted a great leath last night, right really, but
I never called him for a fishing report, but thought,
can I call him nothing else in my life? We
picked up he picked up midnight twelve, Act fifteen. Yes, okay, okay, Johnny,

(01:22:12):
good morning, buddy.

Speaker 41 (01:22:14):
Good morning guys.

Speaker 4 (01:22:16):
What's you and I had a nice chat last night,
did we not?

Speaker 7 (01:22:21):
Oh?

Speaker 41 (01:22:21):
Yeah, it was a great chat. Covered all the bases,
you know.

Speaker 9 (01:22:26):
Uh.

Speaker 41 (01:22:27):
I hope that we're out of the woods as far
as cold Front goes.

Speaker 35 (01:22:31):
And uh, we only have had a few reports of
dead peacocks, and I think a lot of them kind
of made it through, so that that's really good news
because I was I was not sleeping about that issue
right there.

Speaker 7 (01:22:44):
Right.

Speaker 9 (01:22:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:22:45):
How's your back feeling, Johnny?

Speaker 41 (01:22:47):
My life back is great.

Speaker 35 (01:22:50):
I kind of great chiropractor that uh, you know, cracks
me right into shape, and.

Speaker 41 (01:22:56):
I'm feeling good.

Speaker 35 (01:22:57):
I fished, uh well, I was basically up for seventeen
hours yesterday, drove all the way to Mosquito Lagoon, wow,
and and back. But so I'm doing good, you know.
I just back on the boat fishing. I don't have
any trips this weekend, but I am fishing three days

(01:23:17):
this week, which is a big uptick in business.

Speaker 41 (01:23:20):
From the last two months.

Speaker 35 (01:23:23):
So hopefully we have a really good fish and import
for you guys next weekend also.

Speaker 41 (01:23:27):
But basically I've seen a lot of clown knifes caught
all week.

Speaker 35 (01:23:32):
I did fish one day last week, and peacock fishing
is still a little finicky, but it is getting better
every day. The water temperature has warmed up a lot
since it was, you know, in the mid fifties a
couple of weeks ago, so that's fantastic. And you know,

(01:23:52):
still seeing a lot of largemouth bass caught. If you
do want to go and catch some largemouth bass, usually
in the colder months is the is the better time
to do that.

Speaker 41 (01:24:02):
And yeah, so it's it's everything is picking up and.

Speaker 35 (01:24:07):
Hopefully we don't really see too many more bad cold
fronts before you know, before spring Johnny.

Speaker 5 (01:24:13):
I I asked Corey this earlier in the show.

Speaker 6 (01:24:15):
I want to ask you to what's like a good
go to lore that you have if you want to target,
like maybe some of those big peacocks.

Speaker 41 (01:24:26):
The biggest peacocks that I have ever caught.

Speaker 35 (01:24:30):
We're on a jerk bait, and at the jerk bait
is probably my top producing peacock bass lower.

Speaker 4 (01:24:42):
Now top.

Speaker 35 (01:24:46):
Suspending use show Yeah the reason and I'll tell you
the reason, and it drives them crazy. You you twitch,
you know, the the jerk bait is such a versatile bait,
especially one that perfectly suspends in the water. You give
it a good twitch twitch or you know, rip rip, pause.

(01:25:09):
You're gonna you want to pause for.

Speaker 41 (01:25:13):
Seven seconds, eight seconds if you.

Speaker 35 (01:25:15):
If you can wait that long. I can't usually wait
that long. I have to keep ripping it again. But
the longer you can pause it, if you have a
fish on it, they're gonna come and like circle it
and circle it and circle it.

Speaker 41 (01:25:29):
If you give it like just like a little.

Speaker 35 (01:25:30):
Slow like you know, move like just a little pull,
it can spook them off. So letting that bait just
sit there and suspend. It drives them absolutely nuts and.

Speaker 41 (01:25:41):
They eventually will eat it.

Speaker 35 (01:25:42):
And that's how I caught one of my biggest peacocks
ever six pounds, which is not a huge fish artificial
on Lake Ida's pretty solid. You know, fish and live bait,
we definitely have caught, uh, you know some bigger ones.

Speaker 9 (01:25:59):
Uh.

Speaker 35 (01:25:59):
You know Bombshell who's a kind of a famous Instagram girl.
She caught an eight over eight pounder on my boat,
but that was on a live bait.

Speaker 2 (01:26:10):
Is she a bombshell?

Speaker 5 (01:26:11):
Johnny that much?

Speaker 41 (01:26:13):
I guess she's a bombshell.

Speaker 3 (01:26:15):
I could go with a topic about women posting fish
on the line. It's funny you see a girl hold
a bass and get like fifty five thousand likes, same guy,
different guy right holding him, even bigger bass, we'll get
like three.

Speaker 2 (01:26:29):
That makes sense.

Speaker 4 (01:26:30):
It's just sod it.

Speaker 3 (01:26:32):
I mean, how many women fishing bikinis? Because every time
I see holding a bass, they were in like the skinniest,
itty bitty bikini. Well they get like fifty five thousand likes.

Speaker 2 (01:26:41):
Well, Eric, what would you rather see? Yeah, I'm noticing
a trend.

Speaker 3 (01:26:45):
Well, if I were to go catch a big bass
and I was like a speedo and had all my
manhould hang it out when I get he likes, no,
I have a lot of losers.

Speaker 5 (01:26:54):
You'd be people would be running, they'd be bailing.

Speaker 4 (01:26:56):
Off my Facebook page and friending me right correct?

Speaker 9 (01:26:59):
What?

Speaker 4 (01:26:59):
Yeah, yeah, that topic anyway, back to you bet.

Speaker 3 (01:27:04):
Corey mentioned his report also that snakehead fishing has been
pretty good for him lately this week.

Speaker 4 (01:27:09):
Has that been in your bag of tricks or what
at all?

Speaker 9 (01:27:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 41 (01:27:12):
Yeah, the snakehead fishing is definitely improving. You know, the
snakeheads are not as.

Speaker 35 (01:27:20):
Affected by the cold weather, but they do kind of
go and you know, lay on the bottom. From my experience,
when it gets cold out, they'll go and just sit
lower in that water column. That way they can avoid
that initial cold shock that comes right on the surface
and then eventually that cold will sink to the bottom.
But this time of the year, I really like to

(01:27:43):
throw a chatter bait for snakeheads because they're already in
that lower water column. The chatterbait's right in that same zone,
and they seem to just love that thing. I don't
know if the rattling of it drives them absolutely crazy
or they just see something swimming.

Speaker 41 (01:28:03):
By and they're like, oh that that looks good. I
got to go eat that really quick.

Speaker 35 (01:28:07):
I'm not really sure what their thought process is, but
I've got a lot of snake heads on chatter baits.
I I don't really I'll be honest, I don't really
talk to Corey that much. I think I believe he
mostly fishes frogs. I follow him on Instagram. I I guy,
I got the guy.

Speaker 41 (01:28:24):
Is such an insane fisherman. But I don't know, you know,
I don't know if he ever fishes chatter baits or
buzz baits.

Speaker 35 (01:28:33):
I've thrown a few buzz baits for him, which is
it's a kind of a pain because you got to
reel the buzz bait so fast and keep it up
on the top.

Speaker 41 (01:28:43):
But a bait that are.

Speaker 3 (01:28:45):
Chatter baits like rattle traps, I mean back in the day,
I mean years ago, came out. They were a go
to lord gigantic fad had to have a rattle trap
I bought. I think that died out though, Oh, it
definitely died out. So I'm asking Johnny. They have the
same kind of sound or motion or not man.

Speaker 41 (01:29:05):
Well, kind of the same motion.

Speaker 34 (01:29:07):
Yeah, so uh a chatter bay is a it's a
jig that you got a leadhead and a silicone like
skirt body on it, and then it's got a metal
blade on you know, connected to the jig head, and
when you reel it, it literally makes it go side

(01:29:31):
to side, very tight side to side motion like uh.

Speaker 41 (01:29:36):
You know, and you you can reel it straight like
you can reel.

Speaker 35 (01:29:40):
It straight at you, but as it comes to you,
it's going to go and it's going to go back
and forth just very tightly to you.

Speaker 3 (01:29:48):
Like I was song, it's a jig, a chatter bay.
There's nothing like a retal trap. Retal traps you got
the little ball bearings and rattle as you bring it
in as a racket. So I was totally at their
left field as usual, you know, thanks Eric, great job,
well Eric, Well never mind in a man's life. Go ahead, Hey, Johnny,
have you been switching gears here? How about tarpainfishing, the tarborfishing.

Speaker 35 (01:30:13):
Actually we did go once last week too. This turbinfishing
is it's gotten its good nights. Like there are some
nights where you'll see thirty forty fish or catch you know,
ten or twelve fish.

Speaker 41 (01:30:26):
You'll get thirty plus bites.

Speaker 35 (01:30:29):
And then there's other nights where you'll see like four fish.

Speaker 41 (01:30:33):
So it's very inconsistent right now.

Speaker 35 (01:30:35):
I think the fish are just moving a lot, as
all the shrimp is flushing through Miami. Sure, but oh
my gosh there I actually took a client last week
just to go shrimping, and we filled up a five
gallon bucket and it was I.

Speaker 41 (01:30:52):
Mean, it was amazing.

Speaker 35 (01:30:53):
There was just shrimp everywhere. It was a ton of
fun right in Miami. And you can't miss him. I mean,
you just put in at any of the boat ramps
down there and there's shrimp everywhere. Sweet, but you'll have
to be you'll have to worry about battling all of
the shrimp boats that are down there because they're they're
pretty full and forced.

Speaker 41 (01:31:14):
But the tartin fishing is just still hit or miss.
As we get further into February and.

Speaker 35 (01:31:21):
Into March, it'll get more consistent, and then by April
it'll be back to this inconsistent, you know, kind of
wishy washy fishing, and then by May they'll pretty much
all be in the keys.

Speaker 4 (01:31:34):
All right, jolly wady rock clock man. But hey, have
a great weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:31:37):
Thanks for bringing me strong, Thanks for chatting with me
last night for a good fifteen twenty minutes, really good
little talk. Man and man talk about life and fishing
at boating or whatever else.

Speaker 4 (01:31:45):
And thank you brother. Have a great weekend.

Speaker 5 (01:31:47):
Thanks Johnny.

Speaker 3 (01:31:48):

chest and mold coming up here?

(01:41:15):
why who hunting tomorrow and Monday, So looking forward to
getting back on the water. But yeah, I've been keeping
up with the vision reports and everything, and and the
guy's been out killing it and it's been, uh, it's
been cool here. I mean we've got some really big
yellow tails around. Much snappers been around and Joe, Yes,
here in Key Largo we have big lane snappers. I

(01:41:35):
don't know about Miami, we have them here.

Speaker 4 (01:41:39):
Thank you bailed your ass out.

Speaker 53 (01:41:44):
We have been catching some really good ones of a
friend of mine called a thirteen inch or the other day.
So yeah, they're the lane snappers. They do come out
this time of year and on the patches, so mangrove snappers,
lane snappers. Some yellow jacks are out there too, and yeah,
that's very absolutely here.

Speaker 5 (01:42:02):
Buddy, Sar, What do you have to say about that?
What do you think about the lane snappers?

Speaker 4 (01:42:06):
I think when you're.

Speaker 5 (01:42:07):
Driving home today, driving the wrong lane, stay in your
lane driving the.

Speaker 4 (01:42:10):
Wrong lane, Joe please if you're working. Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 5 (01:42:13):
That's great.

Speaker 4 (01:42:14):
All right, So that's too shabby here, anything about mahi
at all? We have heard mahi. You mentioned so freaking.

Speaker 53 (01:42:23):
A buddy go out. Yeah, I had a buddy go
out yesterday. Dan Matthews mischief charters up here in Key
Largo and put ten on his board.

Speaker 55 (01:42:32):
So yeah, they're out there.

Speaker 53 (01:42:34):
If you go out and tack them out, you know,
and and try to catch them, but you know.

Speaker 55 (01:42:38):
They're gonna be a little bit offshore. So yeah, I
mean they're there.

Speaker 53 (01:42:43):
It just you gotta hunt them.

Speaker 3 (01:42:44):
Hey, I've been a charter, capit the keys. What is
your clientele normally request to catch over everything else? Is
a Mahi wahoo anything of bites? What's their number one pick?

Speaker 4 (01:42:54):
Do you think?

Speaker 53 (01:42:56):
Well, I mean, to be honest with you, they really
will ask you first, because you know you're kind of
supposed to be the experts. They're like, okay, cap, what's
what's what's fighting right now? But then we have some
guys that'll come here, girls or whatever. People come in.
They'll be like, hey, I want to put this on
the boarder. I want a specialty hunt or I want
to do this, and it's like, well, you know, you
just got to go out and and try to make

(01:43:17):
the day. Fishing's really not been the greatest the past
couple of months. You know, this month, it really.

Speaker 41 (01:43:22):
Hasn't been slow. It's been very slow.

Speaker 53 (01:43:27):
Luckily, our selfish fight's been good. So this time of year,
we try to do what we call a dinner and
a show, and a dinner and a show as you
go out and you catch a handful of snappers and
then you hook onto a selfish for the for the
fun time.

Speaker 55 (01:43:40):
And release that and and that's that's your day.

Speaker 53 (01:43:42):
That's your charter day. This time of year, we do
a lot of rack fishing. This time of year, A
lot of those amberjacks are around. I know you love
those erics, so yeah, so we we do catch those,
but you know, specialty, you know, sometimes you do strike out.
I was thin key last last week. I had a
wayhoo on. I'm talking about a big wahoo at least

(01:44:05):
seventy pounds, and something happened and it shook the hook
and by by fish and it was the worst heartbreak I've.

Speaker 4 (01:44:12):
Had the boat at the boat.

Speaker 53 (01:44:16):
Yeah, I saw the stripes and by it's gone and
it was my ear and I know that, but you
know it's still it puts a heartbreak on you and
you're not used to you know, so I don't know
about it.

Speaker 5 (01:44:31):
The draft what happened?

Speaker 55 (01:44:33):
Yeah, it just it just shook the hook the boat.

Speaker 53 (01:44:36):
You know, you got to leave that boat motion And
it was my fault. We just miscommunication. And you know,
sometimes crap happens on the water that you just don't realize.
And and that gave me a lesson, that's for sure.

Speaker 4 (01:44:47):
On you know, tell me you dropped enough vombit that one.
Come on, come on, be human.

Speaker 53 (01:44:52):
I think I probably dropped about tim that day, asked.

Speaker 2 (01:45:00):
Dev On on a better note, because I know Captain
dev is an awesome cook. And this is a big
super game this weekend. What you you asked the question earlier, Eric,
what kind of super snacks do you make for the
big game.

Speaker 53 (01:45:12):
I'm going to make stone crab. Oh, probably some kind
of stone crab appetizer. I make this amazing stone crab
folded grilled cheese sandwich that would just blow your mind.

Speaker 3 (01:45:24):
Wait, back that up. Amazing stone crab sandwich.

Speaker 53 (01:45:29):
That it's a grilled it's an it's an adult grilled
cheese sandwich with a little bit of lobster and stone
crab in the middle of it.

Speaker 4 (01:45:36):
I've never thought about that, Joe, stone crab, lobster and
a grilled cheese sandwich could be pretty tasty.

Speaker 5 (01:45:44):
Man.

Speaker 4 (01:45:45):
Yeah, you aren't too much. You can see his facially.

Speaker 2 (01:45:48):
He's not interested.

Speaker 4 (01:45:49):
He's not even into it. Man, I think it sounds great.

Speaker 6 (01:45:52):

Speaker 53 (01:45:52):
And he's from that New Jersey place where they have no.

Speaker 55 (01:45:55):
Clue what a grilled cheese it.

Speaker 3 (01:45:57):
If it's not like a hot dog or pizza, he
can fear less. We got pork roll, you know, so
disgusting about it, nasty ass pork.

Speaker 5 (01:46:05):
What it's good?

Speaker 55 (01:46:08):
Yes, a lot of fish, definitely a lot of fish,
a lot of stone crabs, a lot of you know,
of keys, food, and definitely local ingredients.

Speaker 4 (01:46:18):
