Speaker 4 (00:46):
Man.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
You I botched it three weeks in a row, but
I got it right now. You did trade with Joe.
I don't trade it all. No, No, I had it.
I thought, no, all right, just saying because the clock
is ticketed right, train with Joe, yes or not at all?
(01:06):
I just said that.
Speaker 5 (01:07):
No, you said train with y'all lock a loll and
you're like.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
My voice ever said it like that. I would leave
this set. Okay, train with you back in nine forty Jeff,
thanks for flying the ship. But of course, crazy man
Steven J. Gregg and wanted to happy Saturday.
Speaker 6 (01:23):
How you reeling this morning, gentlemen.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Not bad. The weather kind of settled down and just
kind of a back to a normal weekend kind of thing.
I feel a little coolness in the air by the way,
you know, fall is kind of sitting in a little bit.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
I I missed Jimbo.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Well he's back on the show. I had a dream
about him last night. Oh, oh only nice. Yeah, what
you guys at the copa? Is that what you dream?
Speaker 6 (01:45):
I need a room?
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Do you have like a private dance room with the coopa? No,
we were shopping at a Christmas store. Oh really, that
makes acolutely no sense at all. That's a dream. He's
holding on line water patiently with the year. Is he back?
He's back? I thought it was. No, he's back. Okay,
so you'll bring him back on that whole thing. Yes
he did, he didn't, right, okay, So bring him on
(02:09):
the show rolling, shall we? Hey Jimbo, Hey Bud, Hey,
that's the best guy for him? Was Hey, we're going
where's where's your where's your singaalog? Well just left the
hell back of a while. Yeah, okay, great? Out of practice.
Speaker 7 (02:31):
Jimbo, we were Christmas shopping, Buddy. I don't know why
I had that dream, but that's what we did.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Yeah, that's that's a little weird.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
That's really very weird. Okay, I think did you see
you're shopping at Victoria's Secret.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
No, we were at a very colorful Christmas store.
Speaker 6 (02:50):
He said. Colorful was like the.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Rear admals clubs saying, man, Jimbo, welcome back to the
show Man. Good to have you back in the program.
And she had it last night as we normally always
doing Friday. Jim bos that photo ring my name of
color and he's like a damn, it's branded again. Does
he pick up this?
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Yeah, I thought it was a spam call.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
It was, I know, fishing kind of sketchy for all
the captus this week, Joe. Yet the guys take it.
Bookings or things are down as far as taking up clients. Yeah,
but I.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Wouldn't say it was sketchy. It's just, you know, we
had hurricane freak out going on, and uh, nobody in
the right mind is gonna want to go fishing or
even though it really wasn't that bad force down here
in the Mime area. But if you listen to the
weather forecasts, it's the end of the earth. So uh no,
(03:49):
nobody it was going out. You know. We I had
a couple of trips and obviously we didn't go. And
you know, Wednesday was a little Thursday actually turned out
to be pretty nice. I mean, fortunately we had it
nice down here, unlike the rest of the people. Hopefully
(04:09):
they're all doing good. But that gives the fish a
little bit of a break. It was. I was out
of town last week, as you know, and I've had
some bad luck my last couple away fishing trips. So
if you guys remember I went to Cape Cod a
couple of weeks ago. It was a tropical storm for
the whole three and a half days I was there,
thirty nine winds and the solid rain. Never got to
(04:32):
go out tuna fishing. We go to Venice, Louisiana last weekend.
There for three and a half days or two and
a half days. It never stopped raining the whole time
we were there, and it was blowing like crazy. We
made it offshore the first day and the guys that
we were fishing with, the captains that we were with,
(04:53):
you know, he had even called before we left Miami
and he says, man, the weather's looking a little sketchy.
I don't know what you guys want to do. And
I said, well, we're going. We'll figure it out when
we get there. So we get there and sure enough
it's blowing and raining, and I said, we're let's go.
You know, it's not dangerous or you know, it's not
(05:16):
that terrible, but it's not good binding means. So we
go out the first day. We're in a big catamaran boat,
so thirty six thirty seven foot boat. But it was rough.
And you get out in the gulf there it gets
rough and if you've ever fished in Venicula, Louisiana, you
got to go way the heck off shore. We're fishing
around oil rigs and platforms offshore there for hopefully for tunas.
(05:40):
And see, we beat our way out there, and it
was rough. It never stopped raining the whole time we
fish different multiple oil platforms and bottom spots. We got skunked.
Oh so wow, a long, rough, wet day. So yeah,
(06:00):
and that happens. And it's more agonizing for that charter
crew than it was for us, because I've been doing
this my whole life and when it's a tough day
and you're doing everything in your power to try and
catch a fish and it's not working, it's you got
to go on suicide watch. Yeah it is. Uh. It
(06:22):
makes for a long day for the crew more so
than the passengers. And I know it's better than anybody
how that goes. So I felt for him to get
work hard. But we caught We caught a couple short
red snappers and that was it. We fish around the
rigs with live baits. We marked fish, but we never
(06:45):
had a fight, so you know, whether they were doing
us down there. So that night we're sitting around and
we down and finished. You staying on like these they
call them camps, fish camps, but they're basically houseboats, big houseboats.
I'm built off like a bark. And so we're staying
on one of those at the marina and we're out
in the back of cooking and barbecue and having some
(07:07):
beers and my my crew they're like, oh, I don't
know if we want.
Speaker 8 (07:12):
To go tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
It's gonna be rough and raining, And I'm like, are
you guys kid to meet you pansies?
Speaker 3 (07:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (07:19):
So uh yes, trying to be nice and Uh, so
we opted to go inshore fishing. Okay, so it's still
going to be raining. Uh, you know, we're gonna get wet.
So I didn't want to upset our captain that we
were supposed to go offshore fishing by blowing them off.
(07:39):
But fortunately he was fine with it. After having a
visible day the first day, so we went inshore. It
was calm, but uh we caught We caught red fish, trout,
big jack. Cravows founder Sheep said, it was a great time,
even I had one what's that.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
I say for three quarters of that report, Jimbo, is
probably the most depressing you've ever given us in ten years.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Absolutely, I was ready to hang myself.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
Well, you know, this is the reality, you know, and
not every fishing report is fish jumping in the boat. Unfortunately.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
I like that.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
I mean, that's that's what you Normally you don't hear
about the bad days. You only hear about the good days.
But now we'll talk right, all right. So the second
day we caught in short fish. We're fishing in like
practice water. I had one cast. I caught a red fish.
The next cast I caught a large mouth fast and.
Speaker 8 (08:37):
I'm like what the hell?
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Yes, And I'm like, I haven't caught a large mouth
fast since I was a teenager fishing in the canals
down here.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
But we had a blast, a great trip, and this
crappy weather is following me around, so I got to
get out of it, away from it.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Yeah, all right, Well, anybody who thinks you're going off
shore today, seen the forecast jet.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
It's raining down here right now, down in Palmetto Bay,
so down south, so it's raining right now. Seems a
little breezy, not terrible. But prior to this weather, the
dolphin fishing was pretty good. The fish are a decent size,
so they've had a lot more time to grow up.
(09:24):
There was a rip with some scattered grass out about
a one thousand feet of water roughly, and that's what
these fish were on, So floating debris, birds all on
this slick with some seaweed in it. And all summer
we had a severe lack of seaweed. So any seaweed
(09:44):
we saw is good. And it was a faint line
but enough to where it was recognizable. So dolphin out there,
and then, oh boy, you got a better chance at
catching a mahi dolphin than the dolphins uh winning the game.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Let's hope that's sure.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
And then there's been some black and and tuna's showing
up football size, not the big springtime ones, but out
at the what I call the government cut hump in
also different areas with structure deep water wrecks. Those blacks
have been showing up, and there's been a ton of
pilchers around now. So if you can get a well
(10:27):
full of pilchers, and it's the weather shapes up this
afternoon or any of the next couple of days, get
out there late in the day and if you can
chump with those live piltures, you get those black and
tunas going. But the sharks have been terrible, so you've
got to fight the sharks while you're fighting your tuna.
Speaker 7 (10:44):
So don't go to the theme Jimbo with these sharks.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
Yeah it is, So don't go fishing with light tackle
where you got to fight these things for a long
time because you're not going to catch any of them.
You're just going to feed the sharks. The last time
I went out stated I had some spinners. I loaded
them up with fifty pounds braid, put some fifty pounds lead,
a floral carbon leader on top of it. So when
you hook these things, you're almost like old school cane
(11:14):
pole of them into the boat. Because if they get
an inch out, the shark's going to get them, feed
them to the sharks. You might as well just let
them live and not even try to catch them.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Otherwise, he was gonna finger that. Josh, he has jaws
button just love about Betty Well. Jim bouts mighty five reports,
they're glad you're back. Glad. Yeah you caught a bash
for the first time in like eighty five years.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
Yeah, I'm gonna go get my fresh water license and
go to the canals and catch you up that.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
I think I'm alongside. Jim bu invited me to go
fishing with him, not as Thomas Flyer, but on a
snook trip because if he gets a slot snook you
can keep, then I drive to his house and pick
it up. He goes, well, how about better yet, we
go fish together and we'll do some snugfishing again. I said,
do it? Okay, So what happened? You were?
Speaker 8 (12:04):
I just gotta I gotta show.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
I gotta just kind of entertain them and appease them.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Yea, I was was. I did that too.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
It was.
Speaker 8 (12:14):
It was sincere.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
It was sincere.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
Oh my, but you're taking it back right now. What
are you talking about saying?
Speaker 9 (12:21):
When you go fishing, you want to go out with
someone you're gonna have fun with? Is that what you're saying?
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Like me, so right, I like to go fishing with
the same people I go Christmas shopping with.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Well, definitely avoid Just screw that, Jimbo. Just take the back, Ben, Okay,
just don't tell her where Joe's will take you. Man, Okay,
talk about that dream. I know it's weird, man.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
All right, Yeah, I said that is that's beyond weird
dream I was dreaming of Jimbo.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
I don't want to say that at all. Man, Jimbo,
have a great day. Man, You're you're the man with
the plane. You're in guy's dreams now, man, Pope.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
All right, everybody.
Speaker 8 (13:08):
Today certainly will.
Speaker 6 (13:10):
Hey, by the way, thank you for jim for calling.
Speaker 9 (13:13):
Well, you guys were listening to Jimbo talk about his
lack of fishing on his trip.
Speaker 6 (13:19):
What's up with you guys knocking down to sign Joe?
Speaker 4 (13:21):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Seriously, Eric, Okay, come on, man, do you know how
well I kept my composure? He dropped that heavy ass
sight right on my big toe. I'm wearing flip flops
and it goes crashing down on my big toe.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
And Joe's trying, crying on the air, laughing.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Run on my freaking toe.
Speaker 7 (13:38):
Man, Dude, I can't fit here. It's a good I
don't knock nothing off the sheet. I can't cross my
leg anymore. You know how every show you crossed my.
Speaker 6 (13:46):
Legs, so it fell on your toe. Yeah, it is
the sign.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Okay, side fie, don't worry about it. Okay, as long
as the sign's okay. You're such a klutz bit what's
wrong with it?
Speaker 5 (13:56):
Dude?
Speaker 3 (13:56):
You know what it is?
Speaker 7 (13:57):
Every show I crossed my leg over but I can't
do that anymore.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Listen, we're so freaking late. We'll talk about this later
on about crashing my foot.
Speaker 7 (14:05):
Okay, I can't break, come sit like I'm can I continue?
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Okay? I almost fell back figured out break.
Speaker 6 (14:12):
That would have been good.

Now back to the Nautical Ventures Weekly Fisherman show powered
by Mercury Marine, Go boldly, here's there a grand and
Joe Hector.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
The bone.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Yeah, he's had some issues lately with being cut with
the bones. Okay, Alan's rubbers had his wrists wide open
with surgery and knees and shoulders and back. Man, he's
about his chopped ap asyon man, eh close, it's getting
close ninety toe surgery. After dropping a fifty pound mercury
side of my toe this morning, I call an orthopedic surgeon.
(19:29):
Of course you will come over and put up some
kind of embrace on it. Sure you really whack me
with that damn thing. Man, I'm in major pain right now.
Well you know, try it again. You know what that
I'll slug you. Show must go on, Let's say to Allan,
he's probably wait for beefing Alan, God on to you, buddy.
Speaker 22 (19:49):
I've actually hurt heard that. Sometimes you're a major pain.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
I don't know my turn today. We wrote he's on
your show. Yeah, this is my turn today. Thanks Al.
I want to see buddy boy. How are you man?
Doing good?
Speaker 22 (20:05):
I'm doing okay? I what what can you do? I mean,
it's been a crazy week. Everybody was afraid of the storm. Yeah,
you know, it was all over the TV sets everywhere
across the country. It seemed I was getting calls, are
you okay? Okay, that was before the storm move was
even close to us.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
So yep, well one of these things, listen, we have
to give our candolics to the folks in central Florida,
by the way, they got whacked. Really. Yeah, there was
a Lean hit, the Milton hit. There was some death
and lots of homes got destroyed. So tornadoes, man, tornadoes is.
Speaker 9 (20:39):
By the way, there was a bad joke floating around
online that there were more tornadoes touching down in Florida,
like one hundred and twenty of them than dolphin touchdowns
within the last three years.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
Especially Actually, very good joke, teacher, But yeah, we want
to say ourcadolaces those folks and hopefully we can get
better soon. Just really just terribly bad. But we got
the tailor of this thing, and our company, Joe just though,
gave us Thursday off to recover from the storm, and
you know things would be kind of shaky. I woke
a Thursday morning was sunny and maybe it was beautiful,
(21:10):
well like five miles an hour, So I get a
text for my company. Oh hey, all those want to
come into work? Reply to this group text. I didn't reply, Nope,
I did not report cricket.
Speaker 23 (21:21):
Cricket.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
My phone was off. Man. Anyone reply, maybe one, Eric.
Speaker 9 (21:25):
There are a lot of big businesses that close, retail
business that could have been opened Thursday.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Mine certainly was and I wasn't there anyway. Back to you, Alan,
yesterday was worse.
Speaker 22 (21:37):
Yesterday was the bad day for us.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
And yesterday rain was everywhere. I know, it was so
freaking weird.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
Man.
Speaker 22 (21:42):
Yeah, so that much that much on the water reports
this week, unfortunately, because nobody got out and of course
I'm not getting out right now anyway, but just it's
just one of those things. And I and you know,
I'll be curious to see what happens with the was
with the water levels, Yeah, because I'm sure they were
playing with them quite a bit, expecting a ton of rain.
Though we did kind of get a bunch of rain yesterday,
(22:04):
so maybe it worked out okay.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Anyway, you know, I almost tell you before, back with
my kids, i'd see these local neighborhood canals around Miami
Lakes and through highly or whatever else, and they had
these when you were a kid. Yeah, long was there
like those old pirate ships.
Speaker 6 (22:17):
Were the dinosaurs out in the backyard?
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Yeah? Please theosaurus I turned when I turned on that
light bulb, but the first time I was amazed that
you actually have light with a switch. Yeah. Anyway, I
was going back at my point that there's these locks,
these water locks that control the water flow back and forth. Yes,
And I would tell Alan before that one side of them,
when the water's flowing through, it's like the bash and
everything else is just gathered up wait for that water
(22:40):
to flow through. Sure, and a great place to fish.
Speaker 22 (22:44):
The stoke really like that, right, It was a good
time to target snook and largemouth ass peacocks and be
there too. But I think that's more by coincidence. They
don't seem to make their living necessarily.
Speaker 6 (22:55):
Alan, Is that your girlfriend's talking to you?
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Burbing noise?
Speaker 4 (22:58):
Man?
Speaker 3 (22:59):
What is that?
Speaker 22 (22:59):
I have a I have a little bird behind me
that that I've had for years. Actually it was my
wife's bird and I can't seem to get rid of it.
And when here's me talking on the phone sometimes it
goes crazy, kind of like Eric with his ex wife.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
No, we talked, we talket that bird any bad words.
I love birds. That curse. That's pretty cool, man, this
one tell you this one?
Speaker 22 (23:23):
Do that you that my wife? My wife taught it
good words, so very you know. It's just one of
those things.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
Not in the mood, not the mood, the mood.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
Eric can't fish you.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Know better, man, much better, Fary, Alan, Alan, we do
the whole show like that. The rest of the show
should I'll be the parrot.
Speaker 22 (23:47):
Let's not anyway anyway?
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Are we going to talk a little? Yeah, talk about
what snake has large amount peaks which switched on the platter.
Speaker 22 (23:55):
That's that, you know, because we get out to speak
of uh the form leave my bird alone. Now, my
wife's gonna come back and haunch you.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Shut up, man, go ahead, you won't shut up either.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
Form what I hear?
Speaker 3 (24:11):
Oh, give back to the report, Alan, before we hang
up on you.
Speaker 22 (24:16):
Yeah again, back to everything? Is things settled down? I
would definitely look for those spots where the water is
moving like you're talking about for sooak and large round fast,
and there might be a few others in there too,
but that's the main one you're gonna catch there. The
other thing is like the peacocks, I look for the
eddy areas in the canals where they got little areas
where the water likes to backflush, and that that's where
(24:37):
I will start targeting them. And of course this time
of the year it's more top water as we go
into it, and I love torpedoes and mirror props form.
So the only thing I will suggest that if people
could think of this is change those looks. The factory
hooks are not exactly the best. I like to change
them over and go to uh. I like to Daichi hooks.
But there's there's many different hooks out there that are decent,
(25:00):
and you know, you pick your favorite. But that's something
I always suggest.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Okay, you know, change your line occasionally. Sorry, Joe, go ahead, No, no,
go on now. I caught a peacock bash so two
days ago on my red white quarterrecks jig right and
feisty fish man, nice big, chunky peacock, and we fought
it for I fought it for a while. And the
camp if you look in the lake, I have a
balcony that goes over the lake right all right, So
(25:26):
directly bowled my feet is the water and I'm trying
to hand lunch that last four feet up by hand.
And two headshakes later, light snaps and at ten pound
braid didn't hold. Jack.
Speaker 9 (25:37):
Wow, I wanted to ask Alan a question the factory hooks,
like you say, Alan sucked, and why did they continue
to make them? I mean, why don't does the factory
make them better?
Speaker 6 (25:45):
I don't get it.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
Why did you just ignore my entire story? By the way,
he didn't have a chance to reply about my fish.
I lost. You just jumped in and got me right off.
Speaker 22 (25:53):
Yeah, that poor fish has been caught probably twenty five
million times. So you know, we feel for that fish
and he deserves that that code of honor that he's
wearing on his side. Now you know with those those
hooks in there, that hook in there, but.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
He's sort his lip by the way. Yeah, there you
go back.
Speaker 22 (26:10):
To back to the factory hooks. It's a it's a
cost thing, you know, they try to save their money,
and I get it, but I mean my suggestion, it's
an easy fix on the torpedoes. I just clipped the
old hooks off. I put a split ring in there,
and they usually go with like an eighty pounds sixty
five to eighty pounds split ring and put a hook
(26:31):
to it. A good hook to it, and that's way
you've got a better hook up. And it's actually sticks
out a little bit further as well. The hooks do
so that it helps to keep those fish on some
So that's something I like to do. When your audience
could use that to it, it'll.
Speaker 24 (26:45):
Work very well.
Speaker 22 (26:46):
Even though there's probably only two listeners this morning, they're
all out fishing because they couldn't.
Speaker 20 (26:50):
Fish all week.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
I'll have you know, Alan, we have a we have
thirty five thousand listeners for fifteen minutes, and we're also
being viewed around the world on the Worldwide Can I
get my question out? Please? Another one? Why didn't I
even get to ask one? You ask it? Go ahead?
Can I do it? Do it now?
Speaker 7 (27:10):
About like you know how offshore? Like we're all into
colors and stuff like that. Is it the same for
fresh water? Like for peacocks? Do they like a certain color?
Do you like with your poppers? Do you choose a certain.
Speaker 22 (27:26):
For the most part, For the most part, it comes
down to the technique on the lowers you're using. I think,
especially with the top leader plugs, it's not like you're
down below they're analyzing the color of the bait. It's
usually an instinctual thing at it. So I'm more I'm
more there dark light maybe, but other than that, just
you know, you just it's it's how you work the plugs.
Speaker 7 (27:48):
Okay, is it true that peacocks I hear that you
if you use little lures that resemble their color, I
guess they're cannibals and they'll eat their own babies.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
That that's I use Yeah, I use that. Yeah, yeah,
al tis big eat little.
Speaker 22 (28:07):
They don't care who they are. The only time they
don't eat them is when they're guarding their own young uh.
And probably as soon as you let them go then
you know, which is usually a couple of months, then
they might become fair game for him. But you know,
as far as I can tell what I've seen, large
mouth bastling, they're young, uh, peacocks at least wait a
couple of months before they start chomping on on them
(28:29):
as bait. But but then they guard them, you know.
So yes, I'll eat another peacocks young in a heartbeat.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
And you do it all the time that one day,
would you do the trip to Central America when you
go to the depths of the juggles, maybe invite Judago
alog and maybe one of the local cannibals may want
them for us.
Speaker 23 (28:47):
Yeah like that.
Speaker 22 (28:50):
I want to Central America. No, I think the ones
in Brazil are a little bit more. Uh, they're probably
a little bit more prone to that. So so you know,
or New Guinea. I hear New Guinea where they still
do that.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
They'll take one bite the jelly and spin it out
and say this thing is Okay. What about Transylvania? Transylvania?
Speaker 9 (29:15):
He did our current president have a relative that he
said was eating.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
I had a guy running real ques running super late. Okay.
Speaker 7 (29:26):
I had a guy in my old podcast that we
had on from Transylvania that caught a mermaid esque species story.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
Before you, I heard the story. You are certainly go
with the ara.
Speaker 22 (29:38):
Does this go with that air of picture?
Speaker 3 (29:40):
No, it's just the fact that steroids you're kicking at
you this morning. Okay, he's all juiced up. Well, watch
it feel better. Have a great weekend, man, He ups soon. Okay, yeah,
buddy casting the rod dude, all right, and.
Speaker 22 (29:53):
I hope everybody gets out fishing this week. Those poor
fish have had had enough of a break.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
All right. There, you see it better?
Speaker 8 (30:01):
Have a good one now, you know.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
I don't know how the show just weavesing it out.
I'm talking about my loss, Pablo, and then Steven cuts
me off about the hook question, and then you're doing
your thing. I'm asking about cannibalism, and you go to Transylvania.
Can we ever stay on one track here? No, this
show has major add it does. You're right, we can't
change it now twitch after eighteen years white change now right,
(30:24):

Speaker 33 (34:25):
Morning guys, and thank our lucky stars. We both got
missed by our hurricanes and life goes on. I'll tell
you what that that storm this week, one of one
of my fishing buddies was in a very solid house fortunately,
and went to the edge of one of the tornadoes
(34:47):
that he was just a block or so from where
that trailer park when they lost half a dozen people.
And I have several buddies over on the West coast
that took a hammer. And it's really been tough on
several fishermen, or I should say a lot of fishermen.
But if you want to get involved in something to
do for those guys, and you and you, and you're
(35:10):
the typed to rather make an investment than the donation,
you could send any of those guys a deposit on
a future trip, or even prepay a future trip when
they need the money the most.
Speaker 23 (35:23):
So give that a thought.
Speaker 33 (35:24):
If you're looking for some way to help out with
the hurricane situation. Yeah, sure, local fishing. The good news
is there's been some great fishing. So as Jimbo mentioned
before the storm, the dolphin were real good in the
black cartoonis the guys on the inshore have gone right
on fishing, and they're doing really good on snook and tarpin.
(35:49):
Jack Cravell's the mullet runs still going on all down
the coast.
Speaker 23 (35:55):
A lot of places further north.
Speaker 33 (35:58):
The mullet on the inshore side stay travel much slower
than the.
Speaker 23 (36:03):
Ones in the ocean. But well, i'll tell you what.
Speaker 33 (36:05):
The catches have been phenomenal, you know, like ab yesterday
had three tarpin and a half a day and a
bunch of big jackson and snook.
Speaker 23 (36:16):
It was really really great morning.
Speaker 33 (36:17):
And and uh my buddy up the coast in Palm Beach,
he had a real good day with snook, and he
catches a lot of juvenile glass groopers they catch and release,
so he had.
Speaker 23 (36:31):
A really good day.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
Just that's cool.
Speaker 23 (36:32):
In shore fishing right now is on fire. So they
had to get out and do that. You can't get
in the ocean.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
That's right, man, there you go, man, Inshore fishing is
off fire, he said, so after and do it up man. Yeah,
the baby you.
Speaker 23 (36:45):
Got to worry about.
Speaker 33 (36:46):
I guess you guys still got rain going on from
what I understand, which it's crazy how much rain you
guys have had in the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
Yeah, I don't know. It's been raining, Joe for like
the last six months. So think about it, right, what
does it not been raining around here? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (37:00):
But even like after the storm, it was odd because
the day after everyone thought it was going to be
rainy and crappy, but it was actually beautiful. Yeah, it
was windy, but yeah, and then Friday it was just
a wash out.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
It was which you thought it would be the other
way around, you know. So they haven't figured out yet. Well,
the forecasters have not got it figured out yet. I know.
Speaker 7 (37:21):
Hey, I mean at least the storm surge wasn't as
bad as they were saying that.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Yeah, right, I think it was only like three foot,
so that's good. Yeah, you know right, yep, Well is
he gone there?
Speaker 23 (37:35):
No, I'm here. I was gonna mention that, you know,
you're talking about the weather man and everything. You know,
the weather man is Jerry Achert.
Speaker 33 (37:42):
He says there's no rain on radar. Well, that's because
the radars inside the.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Office, that's straight true. Yeah. Yeah, are you Georgia Capy
in Florida? Where you at right now?
Speaker 23 (37:55):
I'm in Georgia for one more week, okay?
Speaker 3 (37:58):
And what's your next plan to come down this.
Speaker 23 (38:00):
So as to get the flooryda?
Speaker 3 (38:02):
Oh? How far south they're coming?
Speaker 23 (38:05):
I'll be in Miami at some point. I gotta go
a couple of events involved with the boat show. I'm gon.
Speaker 33 (38:11):
My first stop is in Melbourne, and I'm supposed to
go fishing with Avy and I don't know if I
get up with Alan's remember this trip or not, but
I hope to. And I got a trip scheduled in
Palm Beach for Lake ITAs so I'll get in some
fishing and some visit and I'll definitely be all around
(38:33):
the east coast there.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
So I got I got one more question.
Speaker 23 (38:36):
When we'll run into each other.
Speaker 7 (38:37):
Captain, I got one more question, so they say, And
I don't you would know this more than anyone, I
would think. After a hurricane, is it the day after
the hurricane or like two days after? When's the best
time to fish after a hurricane? Or is it even
a thing if.
Speaker 33 (38:56):
You're if you're snook fishing, it's usually a day after
actually during a hurricane, and just after the hurricane, all
the flood gates are open, so there's a lot of
fresh water coming out, and the snook lad there waiting
for the small bluegills and flap you and brim and
all that stuff, and they chow down on them. So
there's a big feeding period with them right after the hurricane.
(39:20):
Off Shore fishing, you definitely want to wait a few
days and bottom fishing like groupers and stuff.
Speaker 23 (39:27):
If they're like this storm.
Speaker 33 (39:28):
There was a big ground swell after the storm went by,
which was still turning up the bottom. But as soon
as the ocean gets down to reasonable waves, you want
to start looking for groupers. And don't forget that several
days after the storm, the bubbleman will remind you that
there should be a lobster walk coming up in the
(39:50):
next few days.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
We were speaking there because.
Speaker 23 (39:59):
I want to get in the on the act yard.
Don't forget.
Speaker 33 (40:02):
I got a half a dozen books for sale on Amazon.
Speaker 23 (40:06):
That's a half a dozen different, uh.
Speaker 33 (40:09):
Books, not just six books, but the shill a whole
bunch of copies of six books. So okay, you know,
get those on Amazon. And now I feel like leading
right into the advertising man.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
Very good, captain, Every captain is now deserving of a
shill plug free plug takeaway and go. You got yours,
so thank you very much. Their Joey boop a streaking
up books. But he's got your catching the spirit, catching
(40:48):
the bugs a couple of books out there himself. Many
Jeff Chief the man, Matthew, what a dude.
Speaker 34 (40:57):
I'm confused. Are we blowing bubbles or we walking this way?
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (41:03):
We do a little bit of both, Man Jones.
Speaker 35 (41:09):
Seriously, I absolutely diving in October, buddy. I love October,
cool less humidity. The ocean is still eighty four eighty
five degrees of course with the storm now, uh, you know, obviously.
Speaker 34 (41:25):
It's been a tough week. So but last weekend I
had a couple of buddies go out and do really
really well. The fish share is still confused and the
lobsters are there, but it's going to be even better.
Usually it's four or five days after the storm came
on by, so come Sunday, Monday, Tuesday should be good
(41:47):
in really really close. So uh, and this is when
the guys off the beach are doing really well. Actually
be kind of like a good tell you'll you'll uh
walk on the beach and you'll see all these time
flags with these guys are walking, you know, off the
beach getting their six and then coming back in. So
that's that's actually a good a good sign to tell
(42:09):
you the truth. But then come look at I think
it's Wednesday. It starts blowing up again. We're getting more
stuff coming in, so you're going to have an opportunity
for just a couple of days to.
Speaker 4 (42:20):
Go do it.
Speaker 34 (42:22):
But yeah, I got buddies going out today and groupers
should be plentiful because like I say that the fish
are confused, they're just very confused, and so it'd be
a good time to hit some recks, hit some walls. Diving,
it should be really good. Hopefully the visibility is cleared
(42:43):
up a bit. It looked pretty good. I didn't have
anyone go out yesterday. I was surprised because it really
come out pretty good first thing. But then, you know,
I think this weekend, I'm going to get out. Tomorrow,
I'll be able to let you know how things are going,
and then maybe a Tuesday dive. That's kind of what
I'm thinking.
Speaker 3 (43:04):
Gv SO TV.
Speaker 6 (43:06):
When are the lobsters going to?
Speaker 3 (43:10):
Oh nice, that was good?
Speaker 20 (43:13):
You're okay?
Speaker 4 (43:14):
Are you okay?
Speaker 3 (43:15):
When are they gonna walk?
Speaker 34 (43:16):
When are they gonna walk? When are they gonna walk?
Speaker 23 (43:20):
Walk this way?
Speaker 34 (43:21):
Maybe walk this way?
Speaker 3 (43:23):
Walk there you go here?
Speaker 34 (43:25):
Yeah, I'm thinking it's usually four or five days after
the storm passes. So it's the you know, we've had
these pressure changes. Obviously, the low pressure because of the
storm even though it started over there on the West
coast came out the East coast. That'll that usually will
have a good effect. And listen, we just had back
to back storms. So, uh, they're the lobsters are there.
(43:48):
They're in shallow which is good. A walk. Whether they're
in ten feet of water or thirty feet of water,
it's kind of you know, it really doesn't matter that
they are are gonna be there.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
I'll tell you what. Y keep all to keep all
the bugs you don't give me, Okay, keep all in
the bag, keep them all, hold of all harder, because
I'll tell you why. I'll tell you why. Tuesday is
the opening of stone crab season. I'll be going over
to bumb Ross New river grows and Davy saying, Lisa Roth,
big giant bag, colossal shill. She's a show. She fed
(44:26):
you pie. You're right, take that.
Speaker 6 (44:28):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (44:29):
Come on, man, I gotta be a shill, Stephen. She
gave me a pie.
Speaker 31 (44:32):
Man.
Speaker 3 (44:33):
Come on, dude, I'm getting stove crabs on Tuesday. Take
your bugs and shove right up your key lime pie hole.
Speaker 7 (44:41):
Okay, hey, Jim, all right, I got a question for you.
Speaker 3 (44:46):
So I asked bouncer this as well.
Speaker 7 (44:48):
So after a hurricane, if you're a diver, when is
when is the like? Is it directly after the storm
or is it two days later?
Speaker 3 (44:56):
Like? What? What's you?
Speaker 4 (44:58):
A couple of days?
Speaker 34 (44:58):
But particularly particularly the visibility is going to be really poor.
But you know what, it's a hit or miss some day.
Sometimes after a storm, I mean, you have really good
visibility for some reason, but then it's all about visibility.
You you can't see the fish. Uh. Some people will
like that because they can't see you. You can't see
them right now. You know, I've been in some storms
(45:21):
that particularly that they're here. Uh, the storm is here.
I've had like five ten foot of visibility and that's terrible. Like, uh,
I know up in Fort Pierce Stewart they got hammered
really bad with those tornadoes.
Speaker 3 (45:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 34 (45:35):
My take on on things up that way is going
to be really ugly offshore. Really, he's going.
Speaker 3 (45:41):
To be bad. Hey Joe, Joe, Yeah, handle right, your
last your less breath, your last breath is now. Okay,
you're least take a.
Speaker 34 (45:52):

Speaker 3 (45:54):

that's like escape thank you that? Yeah, I escape the
brainhole thing, okay, because I'm flying. Okay, did you go
pick it up my speech? No, I'm a radio.
Speaker 5 (46:08):
Are you a cowboy?
Speaker 10 (46:09):
Now?
Speaker 1 (46:12):
Like?
Speaker 3 (46:12):
What was that? Go back and do some more. Roy's
take a little break, Jimmick, Thank you, buddy. Have a
good weekend. Enjoy your bucks. Okay, I got star crabs,
see you, buddy, Thanks for those crafts. By the way, whatever,
we've got a Starbright bucket made the America. Joe Greg

stuff off your house. It's it's really great stuff it is.
Speaker 6 (46:47):

Speaker 3 (46:49):
You know you shine nineteen boat.
Speaker 7 (46:50):

Speaker 3 (46:54):

good morning to you? And do you have a boat.
Speaker 39 (52:17):

Speaker 3 (52:19):
There you go. You're a loud clear brother.
Speaker 39 (52:21):
You have a boat, okay, yeah, I got a Sea
two nine just bottom last year, and my brother.

so Eric actually be there, sorry, pal, Hey Rudy, say

Where was your fishing off shore? Yeah?
Speaker 16 (52:49):
Okay, right, we stopped.

to your show on the way to work, so we
got back into it.
Speaker 3 (52:54):
Oh that's awesome show. Got it back into fishing. Joe's
good stuff, and I promised he didn't buy us both
from me. That's the only problem anyway, son, Ruddy, thanks
so much.
Speaker 40 (53:05):
Man.
Speaker 3 (53:05):
I'll call you after the program tell you to pick
up your bucket. It's really loaded with great stuff and
we appreciate being a fan. How long have you had
the program on so far? Do you figure over the years.
Speaker 39 (53:14):
I've been working over here in Naples for seventeen years,
so I usually have my drive in and on Saturdays,
so almost as.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
Long as wow. All right, last one last question. Do
you like when Jill Hector sings on the show? Ruddy
at all?
Speaker 23 (53:28):
Of course I get a good laugh.
Speaker 3 (53:30):
Oh, you can laugh out of your seat. Everybody says

See he's the man. All right, bring on your man,
Sean Rolls, will you please? He's got dude, Sean Rose.
(53:55):
That was great? You like that?
Speaker 8 (53:56):
That was weird. Good morning guys.
Speaker 3 (53:59):
Hello Sean Shohnny on the water on the couch.
Speaker 8 (54:03):
I'm kind of on the water. I'm freshwater fishing today
in the snakehead tournament.
Speaker 3 (54:10):
This guy is always in the tournament some kind joe
of course, right, yeah, tournament man. All right, so where
about you fishing these snakeheads glades? Local canals? Whereabout?
Speaker 8 (54:21):
Sorry, I'm keeping a local the Broward Pompano area, fishing
some canals to start, and then when he put the
kayak in the water and see what happens.
Speaker 4 (54:30):
Man.
Speaker 3 (54:30):
Okay, he's not really saying where he's at because he's
got the tournament. So are you thawing a standard like
a frog off the bank of these things? I mean,
is that your normal technique?
Speaker 8 (54:43):
Of course? Yeah? Ok yeah, frog off the bank. That's
the way to go, man, especially right now, and like
this early in the morning, Eddy bites, I can't fish yet.
I can't fish seven o'clock.
Speaker 3 (54:54):
Oh okay, he's four minutes. Fantastic time, Joe four minutes.
Speaker 5 (54:59):
Okay, and uh oh this, uh what's his name?
Speaker 3 (55:02):
Does this tournament? Right? Jason? Yeah?
Speaker 8 (55:05):
Jason from RB Tackle.
Speaker 3 (55:07):
Yes, yes, Now, if you're paying attention to our friend
johnnyused to Bill over several shows a shot he throws
things like baby iguanas at him. Yeah, he throws these
crazy ass I don't know. Oh, buy no frogs, rat
lures and stuff.
Speaker 8 (55:21):
Yes, you know, and they got all this as a
tackle shop. I'm keeping an old school my old old
school frogs and stuff like that. But uh, there's two categories.
This one's like a pro category, so you can't use
live bait of any kind. Got to be all artificial lures.
Speaker 3 (55:38):
Okay, why would you throw live bait in the snakehead
What would you have to be throwing live.
Speaker 8 (55:43):
Not just live bait. Actually, people use hot dogs a lot,
which is supposedly like the best bait for it.
Speaker 3 (55:48):
Yeah, those live hot dogs?
Speaker 8 (55:50):
Are you live hot dogs?
Speaker 3 (55:52):
Yes, definitely live gotta be Wow.
Speaker 6 (55:58):
That was the dumbest question ever on the show.
Speaker 3 (56:01):
It was not the show, I'd say radio, it was.
Speaker 9 (56:04):
It was fun teen years of Nautical Benures Weekly Fisherman
show that Wow.
Speaker 6 (56:09):
Is it a live hot dog?
Speaker 24 (56:10):
Wow?
Speaker 7 (56:11):
I love how Sean instantly said, yeah.
Speaker 6 (56:14):
They're eating pets, they're eating dogs.
Speaker 3 (56:17):
All right, don't go there with that one. But what's
the big prize would you guys want to like today?
Is there some kind of a monetary payoff or a
trophy or what?
Speaker 8 (56:25):
Oh, yeah, there's money. There's trophies actually from Warren from
Powercourps Rods. He made custom wood trophies like it does
for Joe's tournament. And then this is actually like a
three part series in the winner of the whole series
gets a snakehead mount. That man is just the coolest
thing I've ever seen you. Yeah, it's so awesome oking.
(56:47):
So some guys in the running for that, But somebody's
gonna be lucky enough to get that.
Speaker 3 (56:51):
Is there a snake head cook off? When it's all
of a sudden done, You guys are actually dispatching these fish
or you let them, got them?
Speaker 8 (56:57):
Some of them they are, and they have fla f
is the Local Order Organization. They come out and they
flight all the fish and they donate into the homeless shelters.
Speaker 3 (57:05):
Cool man.
Speaker 7 (57:07):
So the wait I thought they I thought, it's all
frowned upon if they if they keep them.
Speaker 3 (57:13):
W it is?
Speaker 8 (57:15):
I mean, the law is your I think you're supposed
to keep them or they recommend killing. Keep it to
a minimum. Okay, yeah, they keep it to a minimum
one fish per person, and you know they don't really
want to encourage the killing. But it is a tournament.
Speaker 3 (57:32):
So it's kind of like with mine you back years again. No,
I'm just.
Speaker 7 (57:37):
Wondering because I had all these guys reach out to
me back to yours with the snakehead division, saying.
Speaker 3 (57:42):
Oh, Sean, is it how many is the aggregate count?
Or is it the biggest fish or what's the wanting
fish going to be?
Speaker 8 (57:50):
Biggest fish?
Speaker 3 (57:51):
Biggest fish? Easy love it? So who balvates the biggest fish.
To take a photo, you have to have a photo.
Take another fish.
Speaker 8 (57:58):
Now you bring it with you and they doing a
fisher way in.
Speaker 3 (58:01):
Okay, okay, so you do kill the thing? Yeah, you
just kill it, Joe.
Speaker 8 (58:04):
Yeah, but you kill one, you don't kill ten of them.
Speaker 3 (58:07):
One is playing. Yeah all right, well very cool man,
So enjoy your time with your frog. You could be
casting lines in like two minutes and change. So uh
our caps on the program to win these tournaments? Joe?
Yeah right, yeah, sew the badass.
Speaker 8 (58:20):
Yeah, I get that. I got a new setup now. Actually,
I want to rod in Joe's tournament, believe or not
from dre U s A. It's like a sneakhead rod.
So hereous to see how this thing works out. Maybe
it will bring me the luck.
Speaker 3 (58:32):
Awesome. How do bamboo rods work out? Pretty well? Yeah?
Balsa wood? Are you like that? Mentally, I'm here, I'm saying,
is that a bals of wood rod? What do you?
I don't work out?
Speaker 8 (58:47):
You don't need relations if you use them.
Speaker 3 (58:49):
All right, Sean, I listen to that seriously. Good luck?
When is dark thing? And show us some show us
some photos later, will you?
Speaker 8 (58:56):
Okay? I hope.
Speaker 41 (58:57):
I hope so Sean, Yeah, I love you.
Speaker 3 (59:02):

So let's talk about football for a second. So Aaron
Aaron Rodgers his head coach fired. I watch football, and
the NFL is all talk about Aaron's power and how
he's just really becoming a bad guy in the locker
room pre Madonna. Man huh him man Attam gets your
freaking coach fired.
Speaker 6 (01:05:13):
This has really got to be upsetting Benny mar Man.
Speaker 3 (01:05:18):
Benny, who's a hardcourt jetman.
Speaker 4 (01:05:21):
I don't know what's.
Speaker 3 (01:05:22):
Asking you know.
Speaker 7 (01:05:23):
What I don't get is that you're talking to Benny
by the way, I know on the horner. What I
don't get is, Benny, is that they're two and three.
It's a long season. You're still in it. There's so
many teams that are two and three. Why would you
fire your coach?
Speaker 5 (01:05:39):
Now?
Speaker 3 (01:05:40):
That's like a whole reset. What do you think, Benny?
Speaker 46 (01:05:45):
Yeah, you know it's it's Aaron Rodgers. What are you
gonna do? He's a pre madonna?
Speaker 3 (01:05:50):
Just like I had said, he is a pre madonna.
Doesn't even go to like preseason practice, just shows up
for the first game. Rusties could be and whatever. But
I thought they had potential. But I'm liking Aaron Rodgers
a lot less than I used to. But this is
this is vintage Aaron Rodgers. I'm not going to buy
a State Farm insurance logger.
Speaker 7 (01:06:09):
Why do you think with the talent he has, he's
only got one super Bowl compared to like a guy like.
Speaker 3 (01:06:15):
Brady because because he's a prima donna. There you go.
Let's talk to Benny about fishing. Now that's what she's
all about here, shall we? Well, you brought up the
football I did. It's not the way okay, So Benny,
we have a new technique to They were talking about
catching fish off the back of Betty's fishing charters. Have
you ever used a live hot dog to a troll?
For long?
Speaker 46 (01:06:35):
A live hot dog the trol for what is this
show coming to you?
Speaker 3 (01:06:39):
Guys? Thank you? Right down the old toilet man, I know,
we had a hurricane.
Speaker 46 (01:06:44):
Not much action out there this week.
Speaker 3 (01:06:45):
But are you out the water today or we're yet?
Speaker 46 (01:06:50):
Yeah, yeah, we're on the water right now. We got
both boats out here loading up about the head out.
We did go out yesterday. The Kings were snapping after
the storm.
Speaker 3 (01:06:58):
Nice.
Speaker 46 (01:06:59):
We did get out there day before the storm and
they were really snapping that day. But those have been
really what's been keeping us, what's been keeping us going
here and you know here in Pompano, the Kings have
been pretty solid. A couple of stray tuns around and
awahuu we got this week as well.
Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
Oh really nice one, Yeah, little guy, but still something
how deep?
Speaker 4 (01:07:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:07:22):
Well I wasn't running the trip.
Speaker 46 (01:07:23):
I don't even know, but you know it's probably was
between one and three hundred feet.
Speaker 3 (01:07:28):
Yeah. Then what's the water condish is like today?
Speaker 4 (01:07:30):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:07:30):
It's kind of smooth, choppy, windy, snotty.
Speaker 46 (01:07:33):
Yeah, So, I mean, yeah, it's a little windy out here.
It's blowing about fifteen. You're probably going to have a
solid two to four out the east and then there's
a ground swell coming out the north that'll keep it
a little sloshy. So yeah, by any means it's not
going to be a flat, calm day, and you know,
we'll see if the fisher biking out there.
Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
That's all we can do is check. There are a
couple days where we had some pretty big blow here
before the storm just caught the edge of us out
here in South Florida. Does that really improve your fishing
after those little edges kind of blow through it wasn't
the actual hurricane.
Speaker 46 (01:08:00):
Oh yeah, sometimes it could. I think the biggest factor,
like before the storm, when you start having that pressure drop,
that's when they really start biting. So I think more
so before the storm they feel that pressure, they start biting,
and then yeah, after the storm, you never know how
it could be you could get some debrief floating by,
find some mahi out there, and you know, but ultimately
(01:08:21):
there hasn't been much pressure on the fish over the
past couple of days because we haven't had that many
people out there, so that can ultimately help the bite
as well.
Speaker 7 (01:08:29):
How about a question, Joe, Well, yeh, I keep trying
to ask, well, going on, Hey, Betty, I keep hearing
I keep hearing that there's a lot of well, I
wouldn't say a lot, but a decent amount of black
fin tuna being caught.
Speaker 3 (01:08:42):
Have you seen the same thing?
Speaker 46 (01:08:44):
Yeah, well we did. We did get one this week.
I don't know about a decent amount. It was a
decent size though compared to usually this time of the year.
We get a good quantity in the fish, but they're
not that big, right, you know. The one we caught
this week was a decent size fish, but we didn't uh,
we didn't have much quantity with them.
Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
We only had the one and Benny one more question.
Speaker 7 (01:09:03):
So when you guys use the down riggers or I mean,
when you're planar fishing, I'm sorry, when you're planar fishing,
are you catching Like I know you're targeting wahoo, right,
but from what I'm hearing, a lot of guys are
getting really big kings doing this.
Speaker 3 (01:09:17):
Are you doing or seeing the same thing?
Speaker 46 (01:09:19):
Yeah, I mean, planar fishing is very productive for kingfish
when we're commercial kingfishing. That's one of the methods we
use this planar fishing. But I wouldn't say we get
quality fish on the planars. I'd say we could catch
more quantity. Like if you know, if I was fishing
the tournament and I wanted some bigger fish, I would
not planar fish really, but.
Speaker 3 (01:09:39):
It was like if it was like.
Speaker 46 (01:09:41):
Uh, you know, charter days where we're trying to get
quantity of fish or commercial days where we're trying to
catch as many kings as we could, then yes, that's
going to be our bread and butter. Is thetrolling the
planets interesting? So if you're fishing a tournament you're using
strictly live bait, yes, for the most part, you're not
going to see many people trolling play tournament day. I
(01:10:01):
mean your minimum size limit and most tournaments are ten
pounds fished the weigh in right, and you're not getting
you know, men, you fish over ten pounds on the
planet player pulling a life hot dog.
Speaker 3 (01:10:10):
It's a very What is with you today? Are you?
Speaker 5 (01:10:14):
Eric's gone bye bye.
Speaker 3 (01:10:16):
I'm sitting there next to you. Juice boy, all right,
Benny listen, man, I wish you guys good luck. How's
much Savage coming along? His backs? Holding up Savage?
Speaker 46 (01:10:26):
Yeah, holding up you know him, he's uh, you know
how it is. It takes a couple of months to
get back in the rhythm, and you know he's uh
doing day by day, he's getting better.
Speaker 3 (01:10:36):
He and I had to save back surgery. I told
him to give it a year. Okay, give it a
year and you'll be back really where you should be.
So Benny, thanks so much.
Speaker 38 (01:10:44):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:10:44):
I hope you have a great day and get Benny's
Fishing Charters on the phone or on the line. Betty,
how we contacted my brother. Thanks guys.
Speaker 46 (01:10:51):
Yeah, give us a shout anytime nine to five four
seven zero six sixty five sixty five or look us
up online at Benny's Fishing Charters dot com.
Speaker 3 (01:10:59):
You're the man. Thank you so much, Benny. Okay, man, thanks,
talk to you next week. Take a second. I want
to say thanks to a huge new sponsor to program
in case you guys are checking out the stream for
the first time ever. Maybe not. Mercury Marine has come
on strong as our title sponsor. Yeah, I'll say thank
you for all the blame. You've got some great feather
banners hanging out for Steven J. Gray decorates a set
before we come on every weekend. Yep, we got this
(01:11:19):
great sign which just whacked my toe. It's in the
perfect location. Now this thing does light up, but Stephen
tells me that the brightness of it is washing out
the camera. So I really can't show you how.
Speaker 6 (01:11:28):
We're gonna make modifications to that sign.
Speaker 3 (01:11:30):
That looks okay, but this side is bad ass.
Speaker 9 (01:11:32):
We actually have to tint it for TV. We have
to so it will be uh and then light it
up and on all its glory. Okay, and we'll go boldly.
Speaker 3 (01:11:41):
Never going to hang it no or leave it where
it is. You're dropping on my foot again, okay, but
again back to the motors. Mercury Marines making the baddest
best outboards by far. There was a lot of bees
in there, a lot of bees. Boy, because they did
good with day, they'd be damned good. Okay. Right, So
I was on a boat ride with boattest dot com
blog plug piece and I had a chance to drive
(01:12:02):
with a boat with those V twelve six hundred horse
power monsters off the back. Yep, what an incredible motor.
That thing is just power galore. It's so weird to
watch a boat joe with a six hundred horse power
merks in the back where the cowling and the motor
does not move. Okay, it stays locked in place. All
that moves is the lower unit. That's what the transmission is, right.
(01:12:24):
It's really neat man, that's cool. But they got the
racing four hundreds. They got the V tens now on
there on the market right now again, which are popular,
which is super popular. Of the three hundreds, just so
many varieties. Guess who's your repower specialist? To tell them,
by the way, who it would be Nautical Adventures that
put a nice fifty horse power kicker on stevens plod.
Speaker 9 (01:12:44):
You know, I want to say, I was like, I've
had Mercury's all my life, and I'm like, well, I
have a two stroke Mercury and it works fine. Why
would I want to go to the fourth stroke? But
it actually saved me a lot of gas and more importantly,
I can actually talk to people on the boat, even
at a high speed, where before I couldn't. But if
you like, if you had a wife or somebody you
(01:13:05):
didn't want to talk to, then keep.
Speaker 3 (01:13:06):
The two stroke exactly.
Speaker 9 (01:13:07):
But if you like, no, but seriously, if you enjoy
nature and you want to really enjoy hosts, yeah, co host,
if you want to enjoy the ride, it's Stephan.
Speaker 6 (01:13:14):
You got to have that new four stroke.
Speaker 3 (01:13:15):
It's also so again man, thanks for the great testimonial, Steven,
But again that thanks to great Lester. By the way,
Grant is the man. He'll be on set by the
way next weekend. Really yes, sir, oh yeah, tell Steven
more about that later on. So we get to snuggle.
We snuggle up together. But the text and Mercury and
all the great products that we really appreciate your sponsorship.
We love you, Mercury. Take a little break, come back
(01:13:35):
with nor Beck Off and Broward count Take. We'll talk

Speaker 3 (01:18:20):
Yeah, Baby, going to Broward County talking to the happiest
man outside of Walt Disney World. Oh yeah, that'd be
the one, the only the man. Yeah, Norm Beck Golf
the finest. Come, good morning, Norm. How's it going? So formal? Joe?
Come on a Norm, how's it going, said a very
(01:18:41):
formal sir Joey. Hello, Norm?
Speaker 24 (01:18:44):
Yeah, let's get this over with.
Speaker 3 (01:18:46):
Yeah, let's just get it right to it? Man? Shall
we go ahead? Norm? Give on it to you, buddy,
what's going on?
Speaker 24 (01:18:51):
Morning?
Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
All right?
Speaker 49 (01:18:52):
So before and after the storm question is actually not
too bad. I have another runner a mullet down the beach,
and snook and bluefish and jacks and everything else.
Speaker 23 (01:19:06):
The tarpins all came with them. So the inshore fishing
near near shore fishing's really good.
Speaker 49 (01:19:14):
Get your hand on a wild well full of mullet,
don't be afraid to take them off shore. Hang them
out of the kite, drag him out of the riggers,
put them on the bottom. Everything likes to eat a mullet.
When the mullet runs on, everything knows it.
Speaker 23 (01:19:27):
So there's been some decent wahooes the uh.
Speaker 49 (01:19:34):
So Flow Sport fishing caught one this week about six pounds.
Speaker 3 (01:19:40):
What do you say, sixty pounds? Sixty pounder? He said, yeah, wow, man.
Speaker 49 (01:19:46):
Six sixty pounds. There's been some kingfish on the ring
going up. It's all kind of starting to you know
what I mean, fall fishing.
Speaker 6 (01:19:57):
Norm, you're in a you're in a bad spot.
Speaker 9 (01:19:59):
I don't know if you can raise your head up
a little higher, move you're breaking up a little bit
of norm.
Speaker 49 (01:20:04):
No, I'm I'm pretty much the same spot I always
have this in the morning.
Speaker 3 (01:20:08):
Okay, it's part from the bathroom. Yeah, I can't hear you.
Speaker 4 (01:20:12):
Yeah, you can't hear me, guys.
Speaker 3 (01:20:14):
No, you're better better better, Yeah, yep, yep.
Speaker 4 (01:20:16):
Okay.
Speaker 49 (01:20:17):
So, uh, there's been a few dolphins off shore, so
you know, the mont Snapper bike has been really good
here in the last.
Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
Couple of days.
Speaker 23 (01:20:27):
So it's all kind of happening right now.
Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
Very cool man. And he's mentioned to me last night
we had a phone yet the button byte down below
is yeah, is banging pretty well? Is great? Yeah, that's
a big fish.
Speaker 6 (01:20:45):
I had a question for Norm.
Speaker 9 (01:20:46):
Sure, you know, Norm, there are people posting after the
two hurricanes, we had fake news about a possible third
one hitting Florida again this Thursday.
Speaker 6 (01:20:56):
What's your what what's your opinion on that?
Speaker 13 (01:20:59):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (01:20:59):
Fake news?
Speaker 8 (01:21:00):
Is there?
Speaker 3 (01:21:00):
Normal? No?
Speaker 49 (01:21:02):
No, no, no, no, no no no.
Speaker 3 (01:21:04):
Let me tell you something. We get.
Speaker 49 (01:21:05):
We get it's this time of the year, we get
late in the season, we get a hurricane or two,
and everybody just wants to start fear mongering about the
next one. Okay, it's irresponsible and it's dangerous.
Speaker 6 (01:21:18):
You've got a lot of people, you got a.
Speaker 49 (01:21:20):
Lot of people on the West Coast. They've lost everything,
their their lives are wrecked.
Speaker 3 (01:21:25):
Okay, and the and the and these.
Speaker 49 (01:21:27):
People on social media, they just it's just irresponsible. Okay,
there's no storm that's remotely close to Florida.
Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
Knock it off. Oh you mean like irresponsible like CNN, MSNBC.
Speaker 9 (01:21:40):
No, they weren't the ones doing it. It was a
social media takeover.
Speaker 3 (01:21:44):
Somewhere else with that conversation. Okay, Okay, thank you. Okay,
fake news, yes, a lot of it. Oh, irresponsible.
Speaker 49 (01:21:54):
But I'll tell you what, you know, getting back, getting
back to one thing. You know, I just came back
from happening okay, ye last week, and I got to
tell you something. Guys, if you want to take a trip,
go over to Bimini at this time of the year,
because it's dead over there, and you got the whole
island to yourself. You get the sack, so you get
(01:22:14):
the flats fishing to yourself. I had some really good
bone fishing. It's a great time to go over there,
and it's a great time to support the island at
this time of the year because it's just almost nobody
else there.
Speaker 3 (01:22:27):
By the way, by the way, the boat those are
boonfish on fly. Joey was catching wow on fly, which
is a really cool technique. Yeah, man, an art, that's
a skill, dude.
Speaker 20 (01:22:36):
Normal.
Speaker 9 (01:22:36):
I know, as you go, if you go as a
commercial vessel, you probably have to have passports or go
through customs in and out. People that are going regular
smaller boats that over there do they just go over there,
hang out in Bimni, just come right back and it
doesn't matter or what's going on with that customs.
Speaker 49 (01:22:52):
You got to clear customs. You got to have your passports.
I've got a great app called click to Clear. Learn
how to use that at really streamlines everything. But you
still got to check in, uh with with custom and
check in back over here.
Speaker 3 (01:23:06):
Yeah. If you don't check in, you might be checked out. Yeah.
They don't play.
Speaker 6 (01:23:10):
Clicks it clear. So I just learned something today.
Speaker 30 (01:23:12):
That's cool.
Speaker 3 (01:23:12):
Man. It'll play north. Thanks so much, Ben, have a
great weekend, buddy boy. Thanks Nor. We appreciate you. All Right,
Let's go talk to our friend Johnny Stabill on Wine Waters. Johnny,
this guy every weekend brings something new to the show.
Joe Yes, I mean he's just the most interesting guy
I've ever met. And for tarping, fishing, peacock lake eye.
Speaker 5 (01:23:34):
He's a mad scientist that fishes.
Speaker 3 (01:23:37):
This guy's really in sport. Like I can't believe, Johnny,
I want to see your buddy.
Speaker 50 (01:23:41):
Hey, good morning guys.
Speaker 3 (01:23:43):
What's in the world of Johnny stabill Land. I can't imagine, man,
what's going on with you, buddy? Seriously?
Speaker 23 (01:23:48):
Well, you know, we're.
Speaker 50 (01:23:49):
Going fishing today. Obviously not the best weather for.
Speaker 23 (01:23:54):
For fishing this week. You know, I do know some
guys that went out.
Speaker 50 (01:23:59):
Though, and I did talk to them. A lot of guys, uh,
you know, capitalized on that, you know, basically that pre
front before the hurricane rolled through, and a lot and
a lot and lots of snakeheads were caught.
Speaker 3 (01:24:13):
Wow, you know, just uh just uh more than.
Speaker 50 (01:24:18):
I've ever seen on social media and just talking to guys.
Lots lots of guys had double digit numbers of a fish,
which is just you know, it's pretty stellar for for
snakehead fishing.
Speaker 3 (01:24:31):
So you know, I, you.
Speaker 50 (01:24:36):
Know, I've seen a lot of big ones caught, and
I don't know if it's just you know, lash photography
that makes them look so big, but you know, I
did see a few get really good ones but a
lot of them are, you know, in that five to
six pound range, which is it's good, it's a good average.
Speaker 3 (01:24:52):
You know.
Speaker 50 (01:24:53):
Yeah, Laura and I are headed up to the Lake
Isda today. She hasn't been up there and probably two months,
so we're gonna go try to check off a bunch
of different species and I hope it's not too bad.
Speaker 3 (01:25:08):
You know.
Speaker 50 (01:25:08):
Sometimes when we get a lot of rain, it really
can churn up a lot of the water there. So
we get up there and it looks, you know, it
looks like a mud pit. It will probably go somewhere
else and maybe just try to change up our day.
But you know, I've got a client next week in town.
Speaker 3 (01:25:28):
For four days.
Speaker 50 (01:25:29):
We're fishing every day, so hopefully we don't get a
lot of rain. You know, peacocks they love consistent weather.
You know, when you get very inconsistent weather, it can
really just mess them up, which is which is funny
to say that, because you'd think there's just bass they're
there all the time. But you know, you get a
(01:25:51):
cold front or whatever, it is just some variant in
the weather and it just kind of gets them all upset.
So hopefully we've got some good con distant weather next week.
Speaker 3 (01:26:01):
I suppose Jolie's my fishing with Sean Rowls. That snakehead
tournament going on today, John, you hear about that, you know, I.
Speaker 23 (01:26:09):
Did hear about it.
Speaker 50 (01:26:10):
I think that is a or at least I'm ninety
nine percent sure that is a kill tournament.
Speaker 3 (01:26:16):
Yep, yea. And yeah, you know, I.
Speaker 50 (01:26:21):
Look, snakeheads very controversial subjects. I don't kill snakeheads unless
I'm gonna eat them, and it's pretty rare that I
kill them to eat them anyway. I just prefer to
let them go. I mean, they're an incredible sport fish.
You know, they fight harder than any other freshwater fish
that I that I know of in Florida, and uh,
(01:26:44):
you know, to go out and kill a bunch of them,
you know, I remember two years ago some kids showed
up with like a twelve pounder and a fourteen pounder
in the tournament, and you know it was just like
his pet fish he caught with like a chicken wing.
Speaker 3 (01:27:03):
Yeah that story.
Speaker 50 (01:27:04):
Yeah, yeah, Look, if you're going to kill those, those
are some class fish right there. I mean, those are
seriously large fish. Could have been potential state record size fish. Eventually,
I mean they killed them for like three hundred dollars
or you know, two hundred dollars in a gift card.
It was like, you know, it was so just a
(01:27:27):
small amount of money, it was it really ups that mean, I.
Speaker 3 (01:27:31):
Will tell Johnny in this tournament, Sean menches by the
they're having a big cook off at the very end. Yeah,
and all the fish they cook up and and and
present will be set to a homeless shelter somewhere in
South Florida. So they'll be feeding folks those fish today.
So they really aren't going to waste, which I think
at least, Yeah, that's a validate a little bit, you
know what I mean. Yeah, but I think it's great.
Speaker 23 (01:27:53):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 7 (01:27:54):
What I think is weird is like I got so
much flak for having that just just a little divisi
on it, remember, Johnny, and we had to literally change
it because I was getting so much flat.
Speaker 3 (01:28:06):
But yet there's these other tournaments that that do it.
I don't understand it. I don't know. Well, I got
a bigger problem with this one. It's a big gray area. Well,
you have these kill tournaments for blue Marlin, and I
see these guys online posting a fifteen hund pounds blue
marlin hanging off a hook for a photo op. I
make comments, they get people pissed off at me, and
(01:28:26):
they just take tear me up because I don't sure.
I said, hey, yeah, I hope you guys are really
liking your manhood man killing up that top pelagic predator, okay,
just for a freaking photo op. And the ain't blow
me up. They say, oh, you dumb a and you
eat a piece of ass and blah blah blah.
Speaker 7 (01:28:43):
We never know the true story though, Like the guys
in Hawaii, for instance, I'm good friends with a lot
of them, and they kill marlin.
Speaker 3 (01:28:51):
But they feed their whole bit like it. But they
feed their whole village with that marlin. You know what
I'm saying. Guess what A lot of places besides their
Joe don't do that. They kill them, put them on
a hook, and it's done.
Speaker 5 (01:29:06):
And I agree with that. Terrible Yeah, yeah, get back.
Speaker 3 (01:29:09):
Let's get back on a happy you know, Okay, I've
already vented a little bit. Yeah all right, Johnny, So
you and you and the girlfriend heading out today, man,
So good luck to you where your fish? You said,
what what body of water.
Speaker 50 (01:29:19):
We're gonna shoot for Lake Ida. Hopefully, like I said,
hopefully it's you know, the water's not too mudded up
from you know, having all the floodgates open and everything.
But yeah, yeah, we've always got a plan B and
C and sometimes even in D so you know, try
to get out and make a little bit of content
for the sponsors and just try to have a good,
(01:29:42):
well rounded day.
Speaker 3 (01:29:43):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:29:43):
Hey, Johnny, I got one question for you before you go.
Speaker 7 (01:29:46):

Speaker 7 (01:38:45):
To you, hi, Captain debye, How boys have got not
too shabby?
Speaker 3 (01:38:51):
We see some rain moving in. I just saw that
screen the Stephen J. Gray put up with the radar.
It looks green and not too friendly. Looks rank. How's
the weather and the Keys right now?
Speaker 53 (01:39:01):
Yeah, it's a little rank according to Jen, So yeah,
it's uh then it's.
Speaker 3 (01:39:06):
Pretty in that.
Speaker 53 (01:39:06):
Yeah, Jen's you always like it's a rain forecast? Well
that way today for sure. It's been rank all week actually,
and we had a kind of bring in the house
plans a few days.
Speaker 3 (01:39:16):
So yeah, it's it got.
Speaker 53 (01:39:19):
It got a little blowy here, but not too bad.
So everything's safe and sound here in the Keys. We
didn't really take any damage, So prayers for all the
people that's affected by the last couple of hurricanes we
have had. We did have quite a really really strong
current coming from the Bay pulling into the ocean, so
(01:39:40):
really really strong current, you know, not able to probably
get into the back country. I did go explore yesterday
a little bit. We are under a small craft advisory
today and tomorrow, but I still got out and went anyway,
but went out, and you know, the back country is
doing pretty well. I mean it's it's the current is
set down a little bit. Yesterday it was racing, like
(01:40:02):
I said, But you know, as the fall is here,
as you feel it, you walk outside, you feel it.
It's just the temperatures here. Fall fishing's here. I'm so
excited inshore. You've getting super slams this time of year.
All the fish like to eat back there, and then
we're gonna start to see that push of selfish come
in off shore. So I'm excited, selfish wahoo coming in
(01:40:26):
on the reef. And yeah, we just got to get
a nice weather pattern out and get out there and
put the kites up and like Norm said, put a
mullet on there, because it'll happen.
Speaker 3 (01:40:37):
It'll work.
Speaker 53 (01:40:38):
I've seen a lot of big pilchards in my canal
this morning, a lot of things chasing those, so that's good.
We got a lot of bait up here. So things
are looking good as long as we keep our weather together.
Speaker 7 (01:40:50):
Any go, sorry, sure, yep, Okay, how's the mahi bite?
Speaker 53 (01:40:57):
The guys that's been out there, you know it's pretty good.
I've talked to a few guys.
Speaker 51 (01:41:01):
You know.
Speaker 53 (01:41:01):
They leave the duck at seven, they're back by eleven
with a full boat. So I mean, wow, the dolphin,
the dolphin bite's pretty good if you can get out there.
I think that because of the water and the yellow
tail bite will be a little good today or tomorrow
and the next day because our water is so cloudy
and they can't really see. But that again will bring
(01:41:22):
in I think that cloudiness and we'll we'll bring those
dolphins a little bit closer to shore from what I'm
what I'm you know what I've done in the past,
or saw in the past.
Speaker 3 (01:41:33):
Well that's cool, by the way, props you did, but
they're that story that was approaching the South Farida. You
had some live feeds from down in the Keys showing
the palm trees blowing and the bay and kind of
a got a good idea of how the weather affected
the keys that way. It looked to me like it
was really pretty gusty.
Speaker 53 (01:41:50):
I don't know, Yeah, I mean it's it's you know,
that's what it is down here in the Keys. And
when we get side swaped hurricanes or we get just
the feeder bands, you know, some of those can be nasty.
There was so many, so many tornadoes that happened up
your way. So luckily we were out in that. But yeah,
we're safe and sound down here, and we have the
(01:42:12):
Coral resep protect us for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:42:14):
Well, the good news is cap dep Stonecraft season opens
on the fifteenth on Tuesday, and I know those guys
are the Keys got their traps out. I guess already
was setting up and ready to harvest some babies on
the fifteenth. I'm thinking absolutely.
Speaker 53 (01:42:28):
So I watched all the crab guys go out up
here in Key Largo the day before the storm or
two days before the storm, and they put all their
traps out. We look forward to stone crab season here
every year. I absolutely love stone crab love. I brought
y'all lobsters last time, so the next time I give
you my graces up there on studio, I'll bring you
some stone crab. But yeah, season is here. It's it
(01:42:50):
starts on Tuesday, and we're looking for a really good
crab season here, so hopefully, you know, the market process
will be good and we'll be able to make some
profit there here in the keys.
Speaker 3 (01:43:02):
I tell you what, when do you have stone crabs
and will get some really fresh ones and really tasty ones. Yeah,
go down to the keys Man and go shop some
those local seafood markets. Those guys have got to like
right out of the water. They steam the up real quick,
and man, they are just banging great.
Speaker 7 (01:43:16):
Why don't we get to get her on the show.
Speaker 3 (01:43:19):
Well, she's back in the three oh five. I guess
these are three oh five.
Speaker 41 (01:43:22):

it looks like it would handled a baby. Looks like it.
But being an eighteenth foot boat, Andrews, that got enough
center keel, nice deep v or what it does?
Speaker 24 (01:52:29):
Know, it really does. It handles beautifully.
Speaker 3 (01:52:31):
It does really well in.
Speaker 54 (01:52:32):
Chop One of the things that I wanted to bring
up this week is a couple actually two things. Wanted
to say, a self bailing hall similar to our favorite
boats known as Axopar. And then the other thing is
it's unthinkable. It's got a foam fill.
Speaker 4 (01:52:48):
Core and it's very similar to the Boston Whaler setup.
Speaker 5 (01:52:52):
Absolutely, I mean that's a hefty hall.
Speaker 3 (01:52:54):
It's a great hole. It's also got lots of free
board joke. Yeah, it's got a guttle heights here the
boat nice and dry, which is great. Now Andrew, I'm
looking at the boat. Is that coming to Bimini or
Abimini only or a hard top option as well?
Speaker 54 (01:53:07):
Uh, this one is gonna be a Bimini option only
or no Bimini depending on how much sun you want.
But uh, you know, I love the Bimini provides you know,
ample amount of shade on the boat.
Speaker 3 (01:53:18):
