You're on board the Nautical Ventures Weekly Fisherman Show with
legendary fisherman Eric Brandon, an extreme angler Joe Hector, powered
by Mercury Marine, Go Boldly, Holy mackerel, Welcome to.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
The Nautical Ventures Weekly Fisherman Show. Here when eighteen is
smoking alone. We did it, sing already, we did it.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
What do we do? You know that thing?

Speaker 2 (00:37):
We can't talk about that thing. It's not a lot
on the show.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
What do you mean you don't know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
We're talking about the erection? I mean the election? Yeah, right,
so we know the best person. Yeah, America spoke loud, America.
There's no debating what happened, popular vote, Electoral College. Yes,
all sit in stove. We can move ahead and make

(01:03):
angling great again. Yes, thank you so very much. Welcome.
So back at night forty, let's say hi to a Jeff,
thanks for flying to ship back there, and Steve would
Jake great crazy man.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Good morning. How you reeling this morning, gentlemen?

Speaker 2 (01:14):
A little tired man. They sleep too well last night.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
But boy, by the way, I did a homework project
this week. Yes, yes, I found a couple of fishing
hotspots that anglers can go to fish on shore without
having to use a boat when it's windy.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Right.

Speaker 5 (01:31):
I found some really good fishing spots from some captains
and fishermen that really weren't worried about giving up their
spot because they say, you have to know how to
fish to catch these fish.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Well, that will leave you out obviously.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Yeah, and you too.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
I've been fishing before you even thought of Palla Ca.
So you know, right, we go. Never sit high to
my guy, to the right man, the maga man, the
king of f cat tournaments, the one of the only
trade of the stars. Trade with Joe, I don't trade
it all, Joe hecked. Everybody, thank you, okay, thank you
very much, thank you.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Goodmorrow, Good Morrow.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Kind of a shake up today, Jimbo Thomas is back
traveling the world looking for fish. Really, guess who's in
the hot seat today, Robert Good? Guess man, did I
get it? Got it right on the spot? Wow, first
shot man. I love Robert. Robert told me last night
we chatted, he'd be very kind to me today, wouldn't
take any old shots at me, wouldn't pick on pontoons. Okay, really,

(02:28):
who's totally a lie? It's probably it's a coming man.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Everyone's happy though, you know, everyone in a good mood
right now.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
All right, So he's waiting in the wings. He's waiting
in the wings. Do you want to bring him on?

Speaker 3 (02:40):
A wife?

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Man?

Speaker 3 (02:41):
I think you bring them on. That might save you
if you have a good intro.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Okay, his name is Robert, Robert, faster than light, being
that no one can be much smarter than he. His
name is Robert, Robert, living in a world of wonder,
going down yonder under the sea. That's the Flippers thing, man.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
Yeah, Flipper called and said you stopped saying.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
That's all right, guys, I'm out all right, cap Robert, Man,
are the real insanity? Go going to see your brother.

Speaker 6 (03:18):
Good morning guys. How you guys doing?

Speaker 2 (03:20):
You know, you know, so happy to be here, rob Ta.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
He just didn't like your intro.

Speaker 6 (03:26):
I'm just hearing that song. I was like, oh my god,
what's going on?

Speaker 2 (03:30):
We just show, We do the show to fly man.
So it's whatever, Just come go over our faces, you
know what I mean? But what thing has been consistent
Robert and Joe and Steve and in the entire planet
that here, it's been blowing man for three weeks straight.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
This has been insane.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
I mean, it's the first thing it's not blowing thirty
for that song forty Dodds.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Yeah, thanks Steve. Uh cap you're seeing this win man.
How's it affecting your your charter biz man?

Speaker 7 (03:55):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (03:55):
Pretty much.

Speaker 8 (03:56):
Eric, we've been staying in shore Man, We've been saying,
we've been fishing the finger channels down south and we've
been staying in the inner cool so Man pretty much
bumping artificial baits down the inter coast, so you know,
pretty much catching you know, snook and tarping and you
know Jack Travell's and species like that. But uh, it's

(04:17):
been crazy. It's been blowing almost a month now.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Have you seen it like this ever where it's been
this bad?

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Though?

Speaker 9 (04:25):
Like, because I feel like it's it's front after front
after front that we're getting and it's so bad. So
I bought a candidate flag and I bought it probably
four months ago.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
I flew it up and I haven't taken it down.
I haven't done anything.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
What do you mean you flew it up?

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Well, you know it's I put it on the pole.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Mean you flew it up?

Speaker 3 (04:48):
You know, what do you what's the word what what's
the term for that, you host? You hoisted it up.
I hoisted it Okay, So I hoisted it up.

Speaker 9 (04:56):
And I haven't taken it down once. I just left
it up there. Right, dude, I have to throw that
flag out after about.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Two months because it was so destroyed from the wind.
That's how bad it is.

Speaker 8 (05:07):
Just a pretty much just a stationary high pressure system
to the northeast that had you know, hadn't moved in
like three three well almost almost three and a half
weeks now, and then finally decided to move. And now
we're gonna have a couple of days of pretty good
decent weather. But it's gonna pick up again, guys in
the beginning of next week. So we gotta we gotta

(05:27):
get our our fishing in.

Speaker 9 (05:28):
So right, I mean, on the good side of it,
you would think because of all this wind, everything's kind
of been blown in, so you would think that, like
mahi Wahoo, that whole thing is is pretty decent or
will be pretty decent when you guys can get out.

Speaker 8 (05:45):
Yeah, that's definitely gonna be some nice fishing out there.
Nobody's been out there, so, you know, right, and then
then this time of year, the mahi already, you know
pretty much in uh, pretty shallow after the after the
debait schools. Uh so what I like to do this
time of years. It's literally looked for the showers of
bait school right up on the tower of the boat,
and then looked for mah. He looked for salefish.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
You know.

Speaker 8 (06:08):
There's some nice tunas rolling around now. They caught some
nice ones yesterday. Nice And I just tried to look
for bait showers, Joe. See see what's you know after
them this time of year?

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Right?

Speaker 3 (06:19):
How big were the tuna?

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Twenty?

Speaker 6 (06:22):
They got some, They got some nice ones. They got some.
They averaged about eighteen pounds yesterday off the court.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
These are nice, man.

Speaker 6 (06:32):
Yeah, they got some nice ones yesterday.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Okay, how shallow were they?

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (06:38):
They got him around one hundred and twenty five, somewhere
between one twenty.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
They started at two hundred, they're started at two hundred.
They got him around one twenty five.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Run on the edge there, Okay, nice.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
I heard wahoo too. There's been some wahoo caught.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Have you had any luck?

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Okay, No, I haven't been.

Speaker 6 (06:54):
I haven't been able to get out there.

Speaker 8 (06:57):
It's been blowing crazy but the guys with the bigger
charge of they've they've gotten out there. They've caught him
one or two of them, but but they've been some
while around two.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Okay, sweet, very cool. So congrats Rob, you've got a
brand new slat out here, brand new Ryde. He's got
a brand new boat, Joey, Yeah.

Speaker 8 (07:12):
Man, yeah, yeah, it's a thirty three salt checker. I
got rid of the old I had a Topaz thirty eight.
I got rid of the whole Topaz thirty eight and
I went to the that was the two thousand and
six thirty three salt checker with twin Rob three hundreds.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Oh he's back to outboard power. Did you hear you
say our sponsor is Mercury, my friend? Yes, I have
your friend and he just said Mercury on the back
of his boat, my friend. What a great tie a captain, Robert,
it's great, man, good you caught that. I don't know
if you got it. Those Mercuries are really great at
the back of a pontoon. By the way, they really

(07:47):
I knew.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
I knew he was brilliant, Robert. Could he could not
hold back?

Speaker 10 (07:54):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (07:55):
But ay, Joe, have you noticed been very very quiet
on those pontoons when it's blowing thirty five forty.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
I know, I will.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
I wouldn't think of a gold on shore or in
the inter Coastal Waterway already chopped.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
In this kind of snot you know what I mean?

Speaker 8 (08:12):
You could you imagine how many tubes of gorilla glue.
Uh freaking Eric has been through with all this blowing around.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Geez, I got to say, locked down, tight man, it
ain't blowing any calling joy.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
You might have beaten Diddy with his bottles of loom.
The baby, the baby, Eric's got it in the gorilla glue,
you said, Love John, I wonder were your mind.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
I knew it was something like that, man, Robert. If
someone finally dies down this fishing get better man or
debris blown in? I mean, how's it gonna affect fishing?

Speaker 6 (08:48):
I was definitely definitely fishing, you know, was get better.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Man.

Speaker 6 (08:51):
Nobody's been out there.

Speaker 8 (08:52):
So if you get out there, like say today, and
you get out there today, you're gonna catch some fish. Man,
nobody's been out there, so you know, early one catches
a fish, so uh pretty much.

Speaker 6 (09:01):
Uh, you know, I was about to go out.

Speaker 8 (09:04):
There today, but you know, the the charter canceled last minute.
But it's going to be a nice week to go
out there and look for some bait showers, and there's
gonna be fish out there.

Speaker 11 (09:14):
Guys.

Speaker 6 (09:14):
This is the time of year where your fish are very.

Speaker 8 (09:17):
Like literally closer than they usually are, especially mahi. You're
catching fifty sixty feet of water this time of year.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Yeah, oh yeah, how about have you heard anything with
sailfish anything going on there?

Speaker 6 (09:29):
Yeah, fish has been rolling through last week.

Speaker 8 (09:32):
One of my buddies, he went four for four on
salefish on the kites, of course. Uh and uh yeah,
they've been rolling through, Joe.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Okay, I mean they haven't been.

Speaker 8 (09:41):
Rolling through thick, but they've been rolling little stragglers here,
you know, four or.

Speaker 6 (09:45):
Five of them.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
It's still early.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
Yeah, yeah, exactly, Sweet Eric, just wait for the first
cold front.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
You asked every question I could possibly think of you
like the Joe and Rob show, since we just started chatting.
He was like saving up words all week long with
this one moment.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
I'll tell you what, why don't you ask him, you know,
how like the bottom fishing is or something?

Speaker 2 (10:07):
As a bigger question, Hey, Rob about being a co
host of the show.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
Hey, Robert, I have a question for you, Robert. What
what is Eric's favor?

Speaker 6 (10:20):
What's that?

Speaker 4 (10:21):
What is Eric's favorite? Pontoon is.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Floats? I don't know all of them were.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
Yeah, I think I think all of them are as
a matter of fact.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
That you ever seen if you, if you ever go to.

Speaker 8 (10:35):
The boat show, just look at Eric's facial expression when
he's stuck in the corner with the pontoons.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Last year, last year at Flips, I sold one to
day five. Okay, you sold five five this show, not
this show, this one I didn't sell Jack.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
I just want to say I likes I.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Sold one other brand this show, this one. It findays
this whole one. Yeah, I like, I like.

Speaker 8 (11:04):
I like giving Eric, you know, the taste of his
own medicine.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
You know he needs it. Now, let's take a rob
I have a seat trail and a pontree book coming
up next week. I'd love to have you on board
and give you your captain skills. Man, Come on, jump
on board with take it for a ride off. Sure, okay,
come on, dude, Yeah, I'll put out rigors on for you.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Put a big outboard mirk on there.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
They're gonna happen. He wouldn't go. If I paid him,
he wouldn't go. Man, Yeah, let's spend I help this
one guy's down and thanks, get back to normal because it's,
like I said, it's been just stupid crazy Joey for
a while. Insane. Why he would trying to hoist your flag?
Hoist hoist that's the turkey with hoist hoist? Want your
hoist your ass out here? All right? Rob hey, man,

(11:49):

Speaker 3 (11:51):

Speaker 2 (17:09):
I got start dragging it.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Uh Yes, why don't you say that, Kirk? That was
the I think the intro right.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
Going where no man has gone before? Right, say it, Kirk.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
And then they changed it in the next generation to
going where no one has gone before.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
We're doing your best Kirk impression. You do a spotlight, kirking,
pressure man. There's something something on the wing, some thing
that's always just saved wide man. You have no other
Kirk memorized the one line that's that man doesn't like
beat me up, Scottie, you know, suh.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Will help me out? Oh my, oh, Steven's got that.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
He's second. Yeah, oh yeah, speaking down, it's our freshwater man,
alan Z Man's amba.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Who's whose turn is it to get ripped?

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Probably both of us? Something he's fair this week? Yeah, yeah,
well so remember good morning, buddy.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
How you doing man high Allen?

Speaker 24 (18:08):
Oh my gosh, I was doing I was doing fine
until I heard that.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
How did you say that?

Speaker 25 (18:13):
High Alan?

Speaker 26 (18:15):
What that's a little little week there?

Speaker 3 (18:17):
Allen?

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Little said a little swishy, didn't he.

Speaker 12 (18:23):
There?

Speaker 11 (18:23):
Or something?

Speaker 26 (18:23):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Coming in from the back? He said, a little swishy there?

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Yeah, what is that swishy?

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Anyway? Let's swish over to Allan and see what he's doing. Buddy,
al talk about yourself, man, how are you feeling, how's fishing,
what's going on, buddy, come on talking about it.

Speaker 24 (18:37):
Yeah, I'm still a little sore, but but you know,
I did get out some this week and and it
was really nice to get back on the water.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Huh and h grant.

Speaker 24 (18:47):
I'm not fishing full age yet, but I'm fishing some
half days and some clients on the boat and did
very well. It is typical fall bite in the canals
for me. The peacocks, we're biting very well on the top.
Water plugs, mirror props, torpedoes, chug bugs worked aggressively. We're
working really well, especially early on, and then it seemed

(19:10):
like the peacocks haul slowed down a little bit and
a large bounth would get going a little bit. And
then later in the morning, late morning, it seemed like
the steahads got going, so in all top order, almost
almost all top order.

Speaker 26 (19:22):
So it's a great fall byke going on right now.

Speaker 24 (19:26):
And by the way, I do have some openings this week,
and I'm going out again on Monday already, but I
guess some openings later in a week and it's a
good time. So give me a yell nine to five
four six zero nine three six seven one.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
There you go, Hey, Alan, in fall, do you change
up like what you're using or do you just always
use kind of the same same type.

Speaker 26 (19:47):
I like top water plugs in general.

Speaker 24 (19:50):
Okay, but but it's just this time of the year
you get a better response. The waters have cooled down
some now they're not as hot as they were a
month ago or even two months, especially two months ago.
But but what happens is the oxygen level seem to
get better and the fish are more active longer periods,
and it's just a great time to chase after with
the top waters. The strikes or the strikes are typical

(20:13):
peacocks strikes are really good. And the snakeheads they hit it,
you swear it's to snook sometimes jumping at the lore.
They make a really big popping sound when they go
after it and hit it. So it's a fun This
is a fun time. This is my favorite time of
the year. Without question.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
Do you have to go because like when it starts
getting cold and we start getting those cold fronts, you
got to go deeper though, right, Like you can't really
go top water that much.

Speaker 26 (20:37):
Well, well, it depends on how cold it gets.

Speaker 24 (20:40):
And obviously it's not gotten cold cold yet, right What
I find, what I find during the months when it
gets even colder, structure becomes even a bigger thing, and
especially bridges and stuff like that. So I t in
on those areas a little bit more. It seems like
those areas hold a little bit more heat and the
fish will hang around the bridge is more, especially in
the peacocks. But again right now, until we've had some

(21:01):
really cool weather, which we've not right, Uh, this is
that they're out schooling up sometimes. Uh uh, not the steakheads,
but the peacocks all school up, the large mouth of
school up, and it's a good.

Speaker 26 (21:13):
Time to to to go after them.

Speaker 24 (21:15):
And it's like I said to me, I mean there's
times a year where we could site fish for peacocks
a lot.

Speaker 26 (21:20):
I don't bother with that so much.

Speaker 24 (21:21):
Right now, there's no reason to Uh, they're willing to
come up and chase top water plugs. That's that's that's
the ultimate to me in any type of fishing.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Nice, what's your what's your go to top water plug?

Speaker 24 (21:33):
Right right now, I've been using a lot of the
mirror props, chug bugs of course, head and torpedoes also work.

Speaker 26 (21:40):
Because of my limitations a little bit still with.

Speaker 24 (21:43):
My my uh right hand from setting a hook, it's
a little bit more difficult. So I've been using a
bake caster a little bit more because I set the
hook with my left hand on a bay caster. Personally,
now the clients are a little different, and I have
to adapt to when the clients are on the boat
and and when when they're fishing. If I see you
know better one way or another, I just changed. You know,
you have to adapt. It's no different adapting to the fish.

(22:05):
You have to adapt to the clients. There's no different
than Eric has to adapt to Joe every Saturday.

Speaker 26 (22:10):
I mean, God forbid.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
Give me credit.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
I knew he was gonna.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
For being able to adapt. Thanks so very much.

Speaker 24 (22:18):
I am absolutely after after introduction with that high Alan stuff,
which I don't know about that, I don't know how
to quite take that yet.

Speaker 5 (22:26):
Captain down with the time change or all your missions
morning or you do some afternoon early evening.

Speaker 4 (22:33):
Trips as well.

Speaker 24 (22:33):
Now you could fish anytime during the day right now.
Is the only reason why I've been doing more mornings
is because, first of all, I like to leave before
the traffic gets bad, because getting around town sucks after
a certain time, which is about seven o'clock in the
morning of traffic savvy.

Speaker 26 (22:49):
So so I like to get in the air early.

Speaker 24 (22:51):
And and because I'm still not fully fit, to be
honest with you, my muscles are still regaining strength. I'm
exercising and doing different things to try to get my
leg muscles back in shape.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
Against it.

Speaker 26 (23:03):
It's just I had no idea. One thing is to
get something fixed.

Speaker 24 (23:06):
The other thing is is getting yourself healthy enough again
where you can go out there all day.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Alan just remember something. Diet. I know it sounds kind
of weird, but when it comes to your recovery, diet is.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Also a big part of it. So just a little
was she what's her name?

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Her name is e Brandon?

Speaker 2 (23:27):
What's with you today? Bull guarding every question you can do?

Speaker 3 (23:30):
Who are you talking? Are you talking? Are you back?

Speaker 4 (23:34):
He's been playing with his phone the whole show you
keep doing.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
You're like this, letting me off, like this little millennial
girl on her phone. Some tall show.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
You jumped in it. Cut me off at every chance
you could cut you off. You've getting one freaking word, man.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
Stephen, How many times did I look over at him.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
On his phone he couldn't get his phone to work?

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Or on my phone?

Speaker 5 (23:57):
Then don't worry about it. Whatever you don't see, my
stuff is right about your.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Okay, knuckle ahead, allan away, help me feel better, man,
get back on your feet.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
You got a question, you got a question.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
I have a question. Yeah, do you have a question? Alan?
You want to take the job as a horse, They
asked Robert once are? They asked, Uh, how about we
do tryouts? Every captain is a shot at that seat? Man, okay,
can we do tryouts? And I picked the person.

Speaker 24 (24:32):
Keeping a joke the person, Oh my gosh, how do
you say hi again?

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Alan?

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Have a great weekend. That's what I'm afraid.

Speaker 26 (24:41):
That's what I'm afraid of.

Speaker 2 (24:44):

Speaker 35 (29:00):
Hey, captain, hold on, I'm trying to get this watermelon
seat out of my eye.

Speaker 25 (29:05):
I got easy, Joe keep came in from my nose.
It doesn't work that well.

Speaker 36 (29:11):
I know.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
I get all excited, man, So I.

Speaker 25 (29:15):
Gotta tell you guys.

Speaker 35 (29:17):
As you all know, I was down there in Florida
for several weeks, and while I was there, the wind
never stopped blowing.

Speaker 25 (29:25):
But I asked some epic fishing.

Speaker 35 (29:28):
I fished in the fish in the Indian River Lagoon
with Glenn Austin, and we caught snook and redfish and
trout and Jack's just all kinds of action.

Speaker 25 (29:40):
All day long. I fished.

Speaker 35 (29:43):
I fished down in uh Lake Ido with Uh with
Bill Laprie, and I must have caught myself sixty seventy
fish fishing with Bill large mouthed bath or now they're
called Florida bathroom. Sorry, but Florida bass and peacock bass

(30:03):
and a clown knife fish. And I fished in the
Lake Worth. I fished with Pat Smith there, and I
mean he broke my arms fighting Jack Cravell's. You know,
if you're gonna release everything, it doesn't really matter what
they are as long as they fight hard. And we
changed Jack Cravell's to Atlantic Travalley's because people spend ten

(30:27):
thousand dollars to go catch a giant trevalley in the Pacific,
and then the cuss of Jack Cravell's, so we changed
him to Atlantic Travalley. So now if you want to
catch when it's only ten thousand dollars.

Speaker 25 (30:41):
I went out with Avy Raymond.

Speaker 35 (30:43):
Avy took me out after his morning, his three quarter day,
and I gotta tell you, man, we had trout. We
went to tours for different spots where trouted every spot
Jack Cravel's. He took my buddy Marty ROSSI the next
day and they got and his wife Roberta. They caught
some big pompino and he's been catching tarpaen and snook.

(31:06):
It's just the fact of the matter is in South Florida,
you cannot blame the wind for not being able to
fish because there's so much inshore fishing and even one
day the wind's blown out the east. So we went
over to Chuck Aluski and fish with Brian Sanders who
was on the show for years, and.

Speaker 25 (31:26):
Over there we caught I was man.

Speaker 35 (31:28):
We caught big trout every cast for the umagin out
of time, and we caught some snook and lady fish
and jack revels, and you guys just gotta learned it.
When it's rough in the ocean, go in the bay.
It's really fun. It's a lot of a lot of
good fishing.

Speaker 9 (31:45):
You know, Captain, You're you're absolutely right, because like being
from New Jersey, you know there it's so seasonal, right,
so like the beauty of South Florida or even Florida
is And what makes it appealing like for guys like
me to move down here and make Eric's life miserable
is that you could go, like you said, any type

(32:06):
of fishing, no matter what the weather is, and you
could still catch some awesome fish, even big fish.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
And you know also.

Speaker 9 (32:15):
With the exotics now, you know, like the peacocks and
the cloud knife fish. I mean that like you said,
I mean you got to go to like Africa to
pay for that stuff.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
Back in what the early nineties eighties, But.

Speaker 9 (32:26):
Now you could just go to South Florida, get yourself
a guide and kill it.

Speaker 35 (32:32):
Speaking of guiys that I forgot about. Mike Arnoldy he
put me onto the large mouth bass. He gave me
a schooling on how to work service plugs in the
in the lakes for large mouth or Florida bass, which
is a little different than the Allen's Rember game because

(32:53):
in the Allens Remember game, the peacock.

Speaker 25 (32:55):
Bass are very aggressive.

Speaker 35 (32:56):
They're like a fast moving bait, whereas the floor Florida
or largemouth pass you used to be largemouth, now they're
Florida bass. The Florida bass, they prefer a very slow retrieve.

Speaker 25 (33:08):
And man, he.

Speaker 35 (33:10):
Had Mike arnold he had me zeroed right in on
how to work those slow action lures in the fresh
water and when those bas come up and nail that popper.

Speaker 25 (33:23):
It's just unbelievable explosion.

Speaker 35 (33:25):
But yeah, all you gotta do is admit that you
don't have to be in the ocean every time.

Speaker 25 (33:30):
Now, I'll grant you.

Speaker 35 (33:32):
The guys with the fifty foot six outboard boats, they
are gonna have to hire guys.

Speaker 25 (33:39):
They both won't turn around in the canals.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
Right.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Exactly? All right, great, well, cap, you're coming down to
Swing will Day soon down to South Florida and check
out the waters. You're again.

Speaker 35 (33:51):
No, I just got home in the middle of this
past week, and now I have a bunch of stuff
going on up here. We have a Senior's week, and
this are week, this coming up week. A lot of
the guys, a lot of guys from the charter boat
industry in Miami fifty sixty years ago. We all get

(34:12):
together in a big house up in the just into
North Carolina, up in the mountains, and and uh, all
the guys bringing exotic seafoods, and and when you buy
a few steaks and watch football and and tell fish stories.
And then later on the month, I'm going uh rainbow

(34:34):
trout fishing in northern Georgia. So November is pretty chewed
up and and I'll tell you I got a buddy.
It's over in Louisiana right now, and if I hook
up with him in December, I'm gonna go over there
because he's catching all these giant red fish and black
drum and stuff. I'd love to get into that one

(34:55):
of these days. So hey, Florida is probably off the
chain till after the first the year.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Another joke, joke, question, another one.

Speaker 9 (35:02):
Did you know that there is a big rainbow trout
community in New Jersey?

Speaker 2 (35:08):
Do you know that?

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Isn't that crazy?

Speaker 25 (35:11):
There's not surprising at all.

Speaker 37 (35:13):
I I went to Cape Cod, of all places, and
they have huge rainbow and brown trout on Cape Cod,
and that surrounding was all water.

Speaker 25 (35:23):
You never dream it was a trout spot.

Speaker 5 (35:26):
But we have a huge rainbow trout community on South
Beach too.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Great. Be careful.

Speaker 25 (35:32):
Oh, let's not get carried away now.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
I don't get in trouble here.

Speaker 25 (35:40):
I don't know about the rainbow trout on the beach.
I meant little.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
News show there, Cap, But anyway, have a great weekend,
my friend. Be well, catch them up and see us
soon when you come down here.

Speaker 35 (35:55):
Okay, thanks, Cap, I'll tell you what you guys keep
me going when I'm up here, because I listen to
you guys every Saturday morning from six until eight and
all the different Capins reports and everything else. And I
gotta get Jennifer Grady to get her kids out fishing
up here, because you have some pretty good fishing up here,
and Jennifer and I have talked about it, but it
hasn't happened.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
So awesome.

Speaker 25 (36:17):
You got to keep up the good work.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
Thanks you very much, appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
Let's go do a little bluffy bluup there, Joey, do it?
Do it man? You the plup man.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
And he's not my newest, very bestest friend right now,
Jim Chiefy, Matthew.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
You know I convinced mind to give you that.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
You had no influence on him.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
No, really, he was gonna give it to me.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
I told him, you know what, he's on the show.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
I'll ask you can give it to my friend Eric.
It's fine.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
You know, let's bring about to say high first, shall
we that be rude? I was he here? He's listening? Yeah,
oh uh?

Speaker 3 (37:02):
Had you?

Speaker 11 (37:03):
Hey? Are we blowing bubbles or what a little.

Speaker 3 (37:06):
Bit blowing bubbles there? Jim, Hey, no, buddy, I'm doing great.

Speaker 11 (37:11):
How about you?

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Eric? Yeah, Man, I tell you what, after those bugs,
I'm feeling happier the hell. Man, I'm great.

Speaker 11 (37:16):
You know, Joe I had I had to help him
out because you know, he was he was hanging by
my booth every day every day at the at the
Blue Wild, which was part of the Fort Loa Dell
boat show at the Convention Center. I'd be I'd be
there like nine thirty, you know, opening up, and he's
right there waiting, waiting, see is today? Can we can? I?

(37:40):
Can I get lobster tails today?

Speaker 2 (37:42):
I'm sure you want. That's the biggest damn why man,
you know, I know, really I feel bad. I was
hanging John Adolf at the films.

Speaker 4 (37:52):
A lot of pressure there, Chief, That's a lot you.

Speaker 11 (37:56):
Know what We've We've got to actually, we got to
really give a good shout out out to fin Holder
and more Buddy. I love John and Michelle. Actually we did.
We did. I did a little seminar and U on Thursday,
and of course it was Halloween, so Michelle volunteered to
dress up in the lobster costume. It was classic, Buddy,

(38:17):
it was a classic. I loved it.

Speaker 25 (38:18):
Man.

Speaker 11 (38:19):
I loved it, and uh, she doesn't, but she does
have a nice sale. I gotta admit that. But but
you ended up with some boy. So but you you
did get you did get some tails. So tell us
about your culinary skills, buddy. I want to hear that,
all right.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
So I had this idea. I looked online, Joe, Yeah,
I set your photo that right now, and I saw
something was actually microwaving lobster tails. Right, can't And I'm
thinking I never mic away fish or anything else except
maybe heat a bacon or whatever else the case, maybe right, right?
So I read it pretty close, and I cut the
shell down the middle gym and I pulled the meat out,
put it on top of me. It all pretty right.
Put water, Put the water right instead of a dish,

(39:00):
safe dish a little just to have a little water
bottom under the bug.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
Right the steam.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
I put this don't cover on this plastic dome cover
that keeps stuff from splattering around.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
Well, you put plastic in the microwave.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
You said it's a plastic dome. It's a violent dog.
Plastic in the microwave. Forget No, I'm just it's made
for the microwave.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
What plastic? And they don't ask me about that. That's health,
it said.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
Three minutes. Okay, three minutes later, open the door. The
tail meat was just great and firm and white, plastic
a shell turned red. Took cut it chucks, put over
some jasmine rice and it was great.

Speaker 11 (39:39):
So I recommend any Yeah, did you just put any
spices on the on the.

Speaker 2 (39:44):
Table, doused it with old bay, a little salt, there
you go, and a squeeze a light. And by the way,
the key was give us some butter spray on top,
because it's actually brown like you are at a grill.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
Butter spray.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
Butter spray. Yeah, it made it brown.

Speaker 11 (40:01):
Wow, wow good good? Yeah, oh nice?

Speaker 2 (40:05):
Nice?

Speaker 3 (40:05):
All right, Well, look, no, I I.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
You know you have a problem with butter spray.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
No, I'm just asking questions.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
Why did you say the word twice butter spray? What's
the problem?

Speaker 3 (40:15):
But nothing?

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Answer everything with me. Okay, No, it's good by plastic.
The microwave for how long?

Speaker 3 (40:25):
For how long?

Speaker 2 (40:25):
Three minutes?

Speaker 11 (40:27):
It's done three minutes, and that's that's pretty good.

Speaker 36 (40:29):
I like that.

Speaker 11 (40:30):
I like that a lot. So I've never heard of
that other than I have buddies of mine from Hawaii
that would actually put like, uh, the legs of lobster
in in the microwave and he calls them poppers. Thirty
seconds the meat pops out of the legs and you
just basically, you know, pull the meat out with your

(40:50):
teeth and you've got you know, cooked, cooked lobster meat. Now.
So I don't know how that tastes, honestly, but uh.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
It was really good.

Speaker 11 (40:58):
It sounds like it's really easy. So but all right,
let me give you the report first before we get
any further down the road here. So the report's been good.
First of all, the wind has been terrible, so nobody's
been out this week at all other than yesterday. There's
a little drop in the wind, still bumpy at the surface,

(41:19):
but underneath nice, nice. Visibility has been good forty to
fifty feet of visibility, which is perfect a south current,
and plenty of lobster. That's the key, right there. Plenty
of lobster in that thirty five to forty five foot range.
They're clustered together. That usually means a big walk is coming.

(41:39):
I'm gonna project Tuesday. Tuesday is going to be the day,
the day you're gonna have a west wind, gonna be flat,
all you guys that are wanting to dive off the beach,
get you get your you know your dive flags ready
and mass and orkland fins ten feet of water. Then
lobsters are going to be everywhere. So this Tuesday, that's

(42:01):
going to be the day.

Speaker 5 (42:02):
Here the lobster forecaster, yeah, the lobster forecaster.

Speaker 11 (42:08):
Walk this way, boys walk this way. But but you know,
and and uh, I don't have I got a buddy
going out today. I'm not going out today, but I
am gonna go out on Tuesday. But we'll still stay
in at thirty five forty five foot range. I really
don't like to go near. I'm not a beach tiber.
I don't. I don't like that at all. But the
other good thing was the dog one. Water temperature is

(42:31):
eighty so we're comfortable here. This is okay, but the
wind is still kicking out butt. Uh you know, it's
I'm not quite sure anybody really even got out and
did any fishing fishing, but it was good. It's it's
been good yesterday. Yesterday, it was a good day. So
what about complaints?

Speaker 3 (42:46):
So what about the hog fish? Are they still.

Speaker 11 (42:50):
No no hog fish? No more hawk fish as of
November first, hog fish is off the menu, buddy, no more,
cannot take any for six months. And then remember we
still can do the grouper. Uh, those red and black grouper, Eric,
you know what I mean? Uh, the sleeping grouper you
know we Yeah, and they're abundant. They're abundant because they've

(43:12):
been like uh and we got those until January first,
and they shut down for four months. So really, uh,
punk fish off the menu. We still have snapper. Lots
of snapper out there, muttons and all that good stuff.
And of course our favorite, our favorite grouper, lots of
sleeping groupers can.

Speaker 2 (43:30):
When you can dive again, Jim right with the chief
assassin here? Yeah, well, here we go the assassins again.
If you're a brand new of the shell, here's what happens. Okay,
brand new. Jim goes down with this massive howitzer powered

Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
I just asked him, Absolutely nothing. I just want to
know about Montana. I want to know about Montana.

Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
That's such a jerky thing.

Speaker 9 (01:05:53):
No, it's not Montana. Is that I want to go
there so bad. I want to go there so bad.
I mean, I need to know, like how awesome it is.

Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
Hey, listen, I want to say you've been a great
guest on the show. Man, thanks for filling in and
keeping us rolling here. We appreciate you. Man. All right,
I will a client for the show and tell you
where to pick up your bucket. And hey, really enjoyed
and thanks you to be the brand new fan of
the show.

Speaker 3 (01:06:17):
Hey, we love that man.

Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
Awesome good stuff. Thank you. Thanksby Eric, Sure I if
you want.

Speaker 5 (01:06:26):
Because it's been so windy, I've got two good locations
of Broward County for fishermen to go fish that don't
have to go off shore to fish and enjoy meeting
fish right from shore. That that's been like cool locations
that people have been killing it with the proper equipment.

Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
Well, I know that every canal in South Florida produces
fish to even so why don't you tell me what
your special spot is? All right? This is brown So
you're a guy who doesn't even fish at all.

Speaker 4 (01:06:56):
Listen, I.

Speaker 5 (01:06:59):
Talk with some really good fishermen and they didn't mind
giving me the goods on this location. I wonder if
you've been there. Okay, by the sport. Okay, it's called
the Seewell Lock. It's off of A five ninety five
and westbound eighty four. Joe, have you heard of that? Yes,
I have, and apparently it's been.

Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
It's been.

Speaker 5 (01:07:17):
It's been a very good location. People have been catching
some some big snook and tarp for forty one inch snook. Okay,
forty one inch snook. Second location is four forty one
and Griffin Road. These are locations that you can go
fish when it's just too windy out there. It's not

(01:07:38):
to go six pound peacock bass. Wow, forty I said,
six pound, and I saw the picks from the guy
who caught him. And you know what, Listen to this
the guy, the guy said, I don't mind giving He
knows that I'm part of the fishing show. We talk
at this this diner on a regular basis. He didn't
mind giving me the information. You know how, he said,
because a lot of people go there and they can't

(01:07:59):
catch fish because they don't have the right sized leader.
They don't know how to make it look real. And
he knows how to do that, and he knows to
get it on the fish. And he said that's really critical.

Speaker 9 (01:08:08):
So I gotta say a six pound peacock bass is huge.

Speaker 3 (01:08:14):
I mean huge. I mean Eric wouldn't know because he
catches the same one.

Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
It huge.

Speaker 3 (01:08:20):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
Okay man. Thanks.

Speaker 5 (01:08:24):
I thought you guys would like it. For fos want
to go fishing that don't want to go off short.
It's just too windy, you.

Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
Know, try to pick up a rod and go house
like about his house. He never cast it a lower yet. Okay, man,
what's wrong with you today?

Speaker 9 (01:08:44):
Because I beat you and all the fishing stuff in
his backyard doesn't mean you gotta get alright to.

Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
Take a break fish bills, Okay, I'm been talking to
both of you. Take a breaking back with a great friend. Okay,
nor beck Off. The Broward got said to be last

Speaker 50 (01:15:05):
Now listen uh coming out of the man of Squan.
The day boats are doing pretty good there on the fluke.
And but it's really all about the togs, dogs, the
big dogs out there right now.

Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
Yeah, big dogs, But it's all.

Speaker 25 (01:15:27):
About the talks.

Speaker 51 (01:15:28):
A few tuners that can get way off shore, but
it's it's mostly about the talks.

Speaker 3 (01:15:33):
Hey, you know any any blackish, any blackfish out there
using the green.

Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
Class doing extent.

Speaker 25 (01:15:39):
By the way, great a talk about the dogs right now?

Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
Oh, Norma, I say you're in a happy, snappy mood.
I love your impression. By the way, sounds great like
you're from.

Speaker 51 (01:15:52):
I did that for joke, because you know he gets
a little homesick from this time of the year.

Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
You know what I was that a Jersey actually was doing.
That was a mix of Massachusetts.

Speaker 4 (01:16:01):
It was a mix.

Speaker 2 (01:16:04):
Mix or whatever, nor Northeastern mix, Northeastern mix. Well back then,
we chatted last night and you said fishing was banging
and broward, So tell us the whole story, my brother,
what's happening?

Speaker 51 (01:16:15):
Well, okay, So if you could get out and you're
with the eight to ten foot waves that we had
most of the week, fishing was actually really good. I
mean there was a lot of dolphin. I mean everything
was chewing. And I know that sounds kind of, you know, dramatic,

(01:16:35):
but it's true. The sales bit like mad rabbit dogs.
If you had kites up and you were able to
keep the kites up and keep your feet underneath you,
you know, it was really really good fishing all week.
I mean a few black fin tunas, the guys trolling
were caught, a few wa who's here and there? And

(01:16:57):
king fish were fighting. I mean it's just all happening.

Speaker 36 (01:17:00):
You know.

Speaker 51 (01:17:01):
When it gets really rough like that, fish is really good.

Speaker 12 (01:17:05):
And this week was no exception.

Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (01:17:09):
Finally the weather came down.

Speaker 51 (01:17:11):
Uh, more boats were able to get out yesterday and
everybody experienced.

Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
Really good fish.

Speaker 26 (01:17:18):
I mean, this is this is gonna be an excellent weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:17:20):
I think who had the cajones to go out there
and fish and six to eight foot waves and was
going on, man, come on, man, norm stairs weird.

Speaker 51 (01:17:32):
Yeah, there were just a few boats that got out
and they didn't stay out for.

Speaker 25 (01:17:36):
Very long, but yeah, there were there were a few.
Mostly there were charter boats though.

Speaker 2 (01:17:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:17:43):
Man, So if we can just get like even Shawn said,
right now, it's really choppy out there still it was.

Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
Blowing, man, and hell yeah yeah yeah.

Speaker 12 (01:17:55):
Today but uh, you know.

Speaker 36 (01:17:57):
It's we've still got all this unsettled chopping weather.

Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
But it's it's really uh, it's it's really turning on
the fishing.

Speaker 51 (01:18:04):
It's very good right now, inshore, offshore, everywhere. Go guys
fishing the locks for for snooks. We're catching fish, yeah, finish.

Speaker 25 (01:18:14):
Mackerel along the beach.

Speaker 38 (01:18:15):
Is really good.

Speaker 36 (01:18:16):
It's just everything's happening.

Speaker 2 (01:18:19):
On this front blows through, Norman finally settles down and
stops all this blowing, and it's going well. Thanks turn on,
and the fish get popping and snappy and happier than usual.

Speaker 51 (01:18:30):
Well, I mean, we'll probably settle into our usual late
fall early winter type of pattern, but that hasn't happened
yet with all this, with all this tropical weather that
we've been having, you know, all.

Speaker 12 (01:18:44):
These systems that have been moving through the Caribbean. Yeah, right,
I'll mixed mixed up and everything.

Speaker 30 (01:18:50):
So I mean, you know it's but.

Speaker 12 (01:18:52):
Hey, listen, it's it's making for good fishing.

Speaker 51 (01:18:54):
It's not making for easy fishing, but it is making
for good fishing.

Speaker 3 (01:18:59):
So I mean, you know, yeah, it is not just that, Norm,
but I mean the snook fishing has been outstanding this
year so far. Yeah, very good, very good. Yeah, so
you know that that we got that. You know, you
can go catch some peacock whatever. You know, people are
getting some big ones. Steven just said a six pounder,
which is insane for a peacock. So you got options, you.

Speaker 2 (01:19:22):
Know, you know, Eric, you got options over there. Joy. Yeah,
well Norm, thanks very much, man, that's a couraging report.
I liked your New England mixed bag accent.

Speaker 3 (01:19:32):
Any striper up there, Norm.

Speaker 51 (01:19:35):
Not too many stripers, okay, yeah, it was all right,
gotcha gotcha?

Speaker 3 (01:19:43):
No bluefish either, right?

Speaker 2 (01:19:45):
No bluefish?

Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
Okay, okay, what about the weekies their norm? Any week
you were.

Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
Telling with a segment Joe, we gotta go. Okay, you're
stretching out way week You know what a week he is?
It's a week fish. Oh wow, Nor, thank you, buddy,
you were blast is. Always have a great weekend. Brother
on the finest. Ky see you, But all right, I
goot friends. Johnny Stapil online number one years, Johnny years, Johnny, Yeah,

(01:20:17):
he's what your segment. You ways, have something new to
talk about. What's on your plate this week? What's been happening, buddy.

Speaker 52 (01:20:26):
You know, unlike a lot of people, I was actually
able to fish most of the week.

Speaker 25 (01:20:32):
Oh you know, the the ocean is.

Speaker 12 (01:20:35):
Angry and rough.

Speaker 52 (01:20:36):
I moved a boat out of the show on Monday
and it was, you know, just just standing up out there.
So I was on an eighty two Viking and I
was able to run all the way to Palm Beach
with it. But you know, for any other boat, I
probably would have recommended not going out. It was it
was pretty rowdy out there. But the rest of the

(01:20:58):
week I got the fish. It was, uh, you know,
pretty good. A little bit of ups and downs, but
for the most part, pretty consistent, you know. And one
thing that I, you know, want to talk about today
is a report, uh not anything specifically, but a report
that a client told me about. And this guy's not

(01:21:18):
just regular clients, big time fishermen I'll call an opportunistic person.
And you know, a lot of people are complaining that
it's obviously rough offshore and that there's you know, you know,
no way to get out. And this guy fish inside
point and inlet and absolutely wrecked some bluefish and some jacks,

(01:21:41):
and I know that those are not like you know,
prize possession fish by all means.

Speaker 12 (01:21:46):
However, if it's.

Speaker 52 (01:21:47):
Blowing and you want to go, you know, reel on something,
you can do. Pretty much. Any inlet or any you know,
inland waterway is going to have some type of fish
flowing through this time of the year. You know, you'll
have a lot of mulled around on the inland waterway
and it's just a good opportunity to just go out
there and make a few casts and good you know,

(01:22:08):
good odds at actually catching something too.

Speaker 12 (01:22:11):
So and then obviously you have what I do fishing
Lake Ida.

Speaker 52 (01:22:15):
You know, we were able to fish basically up to
thirty five miles an hour or anything more than that.
It you know, you just can't really cast. And we've
got a lot of peacocks this weekend. On Saturday, right
after I spoke to you guys last weekend, I had
to catch you short because I was getting ready for
a trip. Yep, we caught sixty five peacocks, what you.

Speaker 12 (01:22:37):
Know, in four hours. It was just outstanding for this
time of the year.

Speaker 18 (01:22:42):
You know.

Speaker 52 (01:22:44):
Well, actually we did catch a bunch on shad, but
I actually have started you know, excuse me, this time
of the year. Those peacocks they'll go deep because the
water temperature is under eighty degrees. When they go deep,
you catch them deep, like fifteen feet of water. I

(01:23:06):
was dropping vertical jigs on them and pulling up crappy
and peacocks on vertical jigs.

Speaker 2 (01:23:13):
What like crappy? What size?

Speaker 52 (01:23:17):
Jim's small fifteen ten to twenty grams, ten to twenty.

Speaker 12 (01:23:23):
Grams, which is a very small jig.

Speaker 52 (01:23:25):
But you're only in you know, ten to fifteen feet
of water. If it's a blast, you can catch a
lot of fish on bait and on the jigs this
time of the year, you know. And then we fished
a couple of days this past week. One day in particular,
my client got the Lake Ida super exotic slam peacock,

(01:23:47):
oscar snakehead, clown knife fish, largemouth bass, and a hybrid bass,
a strike wow and.

Speaker 12 (01:23:59):
Yep I cichlids.

Speaker 52 (01:24:00):
So I mean that that's pretty much, you know, I
think the most amount of species that you can realistically
catch on the lake in one day.

Speaker 12 (01:24:08):
Now, you can obviously get worms, and you can.

Speaker 52 (01:24:11):
Go fish for some smaller cichlids like the viehas and
maybe some tilapia's, But I mean just using one bait.
You know, the peacocks were fired up yesterday. I caught
a bunch of jerk bait, a hard jerk bait, and
he was catching them on Shadow.

Speaker 12 (01:24:28):
It was just, you know, a couple of great days
this past.

Speaker 52 (01:24:31):
Week, and you know, nobody else is able to fish,
but we're able to get on the lake and do
some damage.

Speaker 12 (01:24:37):
So overall, insane, insane week for us.

Speaker 9 (01:24:40):
Hey, Johnny, I get this question a lot. What's your
go to lore for catching clown knife fish.

Speaker 12 (01:24:50):
Well, there's a couple, but the.

Speaker 52 (01:24:54):
Yeah, it's a it's a Zeman bait. It's a five
inch soft jerk bait. It's called the streaks.

Speaker 53 (01:25:02):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (01:25:02):
You know they have a Z on the end of
all their baits, So it's a streak Z and I
throw that on a Texas I hook.

Speaker 52 (01:25:09):
So it's a swing you know, a swing jighead or
a swing head, whatever you want to call it. It's
it's essentially a Texas rigging system that has a free
swinging jig head on the front and it allows to
be you know, pretty much weedless, and I drag it
on the bottom and you know, I think, Uh, when

(01:25:32):
Johnny Jiggs was at the Owners or sorry not the
Owners from at the Kayak tournament this past year, he
even caught one on it.

Speaker 12 (01:25:39):
So I mean it's an effective lure.

Speaker 52 (01:25:41):
If I'm going to go out and throw for clown
knife and I don't want to catch bait, that's what.

Speaker 12 (01:25:45):
I'm going to use. And it works pretty much every time.

Speaker 3 (01:25:48):
Awesome, man there you go, right, yeah, right, yeah, good
info there.

Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
So you fishing today, Johnny or you're staying on land
or it was one blows still blowing like crazy? Mante
what's you play today?

Speaker 52 (01:25:58):
Yeah, I'm actually I put a brisket on the my
big green eggle last night at about eleven o'clock and uh,
I got a couple of people coming over today to
eat it. So we're we're doing a little friends giving
you friends giving, so to say, and uh, yeah today
will be about food and not fishing.

Speaker 2 (01:26:18):
Nice. Great, So what time was Joe and I and
Stephen showing up today?

Speaker 3 (01:26:21):
Friends?

Speaker 4 (01:26:21):
I like that friends giving what was what was the
It's for friends, zed Eric.

Speaker 2 (01:26:26):
It's not for you, Stephen Steven, just zip it man,
not for you. Come on man anyway, Johnny, you bring
a strong man. I hope you enjoined your brand new ride.
You get that brand new sled going on, so you're
enjoy that ride in the boat with your lovely ladies.
So keep catching those fish man. Just you bring it
tough every week, and we appreciate you, buddy. Thanks Johnny,

(01:26:48):
all right, thank you guys.

Speaker 52 (01:26:49):
See you later.

Speaker 2 (01:26:50):
I have a second to kill. I was in Public's
last night, buying the usual stuff I do, and I
see this and I just it drives me batty man.
It's like, what this six or seventh, eighth, ninth day
of November and they've got already Christmas stuff up here.
I found some pretty cool. Look at this one.

Speaker 3 (01:27:06):
Oh that is sick man.

Speaker 2 (01:27:07):
It's a little battery powered. It's Santa Clause in early November.

Speaker 3 (01:27:13):
Jezus.

Speaker 2 (01:27:14):
Actually the heavy decorations up in like in late October.
Christmas is starting earlier every single year in a.

Speaker 3 (01:27:20):
Great yeah you know what, you know, I'm setting up

Well, well, well, we have the happiest lady on the planet. O.
She does so many great things. I saw her this week.
I think Jen was with her sister or somebody having
a birthday. Oh, and then I saw her with tools
in her hand, creating things. She's a builder everything like

(01:33:32):
Jennifer Gray Warren, Good morning to you, Hi Jen. Oh
we don't have Jen. Oh Okay, she was there. Man,
My bad. I didn't see the no doubt. Normally a
jests grit about it, give me notes. But we walked
the way down and looking at the water line. Oh
she's ready, okay, Jen, Good morning to you. Hey, Jen

(01:33:56):
Side mentioning during the opening, good morning to you. I
was watching you a Facebook and I think you want
at a birthday party or something with a cousin or
your sister.

Speaker 3 (01:34:04):
Right, And we went to visit them last weekend or
this past weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:34:08):
Yeah, and so I saw you at a garage like
building something there as well. Your there's your tool skills.
What was that all about?

Speaker 4 (01:34:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 55 (01:34:17):
I bought her a dining room table.

Speaker 3 (01:34:19):
She's been wanting like a farmhouse to you for a
long time, and so I was like, let's.

Speaker 55 (01:34:23):
Do it, and my brother in law house, my husband helped,
and we did it before we left and got it
all done.

Speaker 3 (01:34:30):
I mean she has to stand that and stay in it,
but it's beautiful.

Speaker 2 (01:34:34):
She built a dining room table, Joe yea. She builds
your son's coop and kaid and like lemonade stands that
looked like a mini Trump Trump mansion.

Speaker 3 (01:34:45):
I mean, women do build stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:34:46):
To Eric, she's got extraordinarily high skills for any personal gay.

Speaker 5 (01:34:52):
That's impressive, Jen, that really is. I mean you're working
with tools, and Eric is a tool, so you'll have
something in common.

Speaker 2 (01:35:00):
But really, Jen, you got some great woodworking skills, no
doubt about that. So props you on next now. But
we have a question for you. We've had not stop
wind blowing here for three weeks or more. It's never
it's blowing today. Why is the wind here causing captains
not to fish off shore?

Speaker 3 (01:35:19):
It's not stopping?

Speaker 55 (01:35:21):
Well I think, I mean, I don't think the winds
are going to be that bad this week.

Speaker 12 (01:35:26):
Well, yeah they are.

Speaker 2 (01:35:29):
Took that back real quick, did she?

Speaker 55 (01:35:32):
I was like, today's not bad and then tomorrow it
starts blowing again. But yeah, great, you got a twenty
percent chance of showers today, partly signing with the Niner
eighty two east winds ten to fifteen, increasing to twenty
in the afternoon, sea's two to four feet occasionally five.
Inner coastal water's choppy. And then tomorrow you have a
thirty percent chance of showers. Partly signing with the Niner

(01:35:52):
eighty two east winds fifteen to twenty, gusts up to
twenty five, sea's four to six feet occasionally eight. Inner
coastal waters chopping exposed areas, and then today in the
Key is mostly sunny. Hiner eighty one east, winds around fifteen,
and then you have seas two to four feet occasionally five.
Near shore waters moderate chop becoming choppy. Tomorrow twenty percent

(01:36:15):
chance of showers, mostly sunny. High here eighty one, northeast
to east winds near twenty nine, seas three to five
feet occasionally six.

Speaker 12 (01:36:23):
Near shore water is rough. That's huge in the Keys,
my gosh.

Speaker 55 (01:36:26):
And then at Florida Bay today east and northeast windes
fifteen to twenty.

Speaker 12 (01:36:29):
Bay Water's the moderate chop becoming.

Speaker 55 (01:36:31):
Choppy, and then northeast fifteen to twenty tomorrow Bay Water's choppy.

Speaker 12 (01:36:36):
Scot a shower, So your.

Speaker 55 (01:36:38):
Freezy conditions will continue for the weekend. Unfortunately, I can
look real quickly and see if they die down in
a couple of days.

Speaker 2 (01:36:46):
Sure, yeap, please do.

Speaker 30 (01:36:51):
Yeah, you go down back down.

Speaker 55 (01:36:53):
To ten by Monday Tuesday, and then they pick back
up between fifteen and twenty after that.

Speaker 2 (01:36:59):
Oh h, it's gonna go for it.

Speaker 25 (01:37:01):
I think you guys are just.

Speaker 55 (01:37:02):
Stuck in this pattern where you're, you know, wedged in
between this high and low and it's just funneling in
some really strong winds.

Speaker 2 (01:37:09):
Oh, it's a weather wedgie.

Speaker 4 (01:37:11):
The wind blows like that.

Speaker 2 (01:37:14):
We got a weather Joe interesting, Jeff.

Speaker 55 (01:37:17):
Had Raphael that was not too too far from you, guys.
That was a pretty strong storm that was probably ushering
in some winds too true.

Speaker 2 (01:37:24):
If you want to borrow this on the weather channel,
you can certainly use weather weather wedgie.

Speaker 3 (01:37:28):
Florida is in a weather weggie.

Speaker 2 (01:37:30):
Anytime you like to a weather wedgies going on. Yeah,
I think that would go for That'd be a good hashtag,
It would be right, Jed, thanks so much.

Speaker 3 (01:37:38):
Keep building.

Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
If you could, you build me a divided between me
and Joe so i'll have to see him every weekend.
Come on, build a divider you and I want that.

Speaker 3 (01:37:46):
I know its mean.

Speaker 2 (01:37:48):
No, I do want that. Actually, it is so mean.

Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:37:53):
Start drawing up plans. Okay, thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (01:37:55):
All right, thanks Je, let's.

Speaker 2 (01:37:56):
Go the keys. I got to go from Jeff saying,
Jef's gonna be quick because she's fishing and pizza. Get
off the phone. Oh, don't have her yet, rock.

Speaker 3 (01:38:10):
Watching Jo's face bake.

Speaker 56 (01:38:13):
He isn't Eric and he just does know all those
tourists covered with boils strumming my six string, watching my thing.

Speaker 4 (01:38:24):
Shwang dadda da day.

Speaker 2 (01:38:29):
Wasting my day again with Joe Hectorville looking for the
front door to get the hell out of here.

Speaker 3 (01:38:39):
Oh my gosh, that was really bad.

Speaker 2 (01:38:42):
This was I'm killing time debuts on the phone I got.
I got the word from the bird that yet.

Speaker 3 (01:38:48):
I think she's not thinks you might have to plan
for something else.

Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
Just double check and see we could.

Speaker 3 (01:38:54):
We could pretend that Steven's dead now, boys.

Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
So let's try one more time and see whether she
might be on the horny or not. Here do you
see on the horn Anyboddy? No debt? Okay, out of range,
not fishing or fishing, but not on the shore. So
you know what you and I talk, let's talk. No,
I know I've talked to dev this week about fishing
at the keys. Okay, okay, she told me, is the
mahi are there and their thickest thieves, thickest thieves. They're

(01:39:26):
in abundance. Large mahi are there at the keys.

Speaker 3 (01:39:31):
Did you do that rhyme on purpose or was that it.

Speaker 2 (01:39:34):
Was a total accident, by the way, Yeah, so there's
a mahi out there hanging around right right, she said.
The familion snappers were snapping. Okay, nighttime yellow tail bite
was banging. There's a snook around the mangroves, she said,
By the way.

Speaker 3 (01:39:51):
Right, I have heard snook fishing there has been amazing.

Speaker 2 (01:39:54):
Those guys would go out a little further off shore,
she said, there's some sailfish around. Okay, so you got
a nice much she didn't make I didn't ask her
about muttons, but I'm assuming muttons, Rubby, there a species.
You want to ask me about that. Maybe they're not.
Who oh, tons of them.

Speaker 4 (01:40:10):
I got some picks and video of what Captain deb
caught this week, if you want to hear real.

Speaker 2 (01:40:15):
Actually, I saw a photo of her online. There were
a couple of muttons in that photo.

Speaker 3 (01:40:19):
She got some like epic muttons.

Speaker 2 (01:40:21):
If you see that photo, huge monster.

Speaker 3 (01:40:24):
She sent them to me personally. That's boss.

Speaker 2 (01:40:28):
That's live audio. Good job, Gray, that was great bringing
it up. Man, are those Look look what she caught?

Speaker 4 (01:40:38):
This is a massive, massive fish.

Speaker 2 (01:40:41):
My phone's not working. Yeah, you don't got your pig
over your phone? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:40:44):
Yeah, that mutton?

Speaker 2 (01:40:46):
Man, that that is that's a beast button.

Speaker 3 (01:40:48):
That's insane.

Speaker 2 (01:40:49):
Yeah, Like that's that's a big one.

Speaker 12 (01:40:53):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
Now when you mutton fish, which I've done with my
sons several times with the captains. What are you dropping
out for bait? What you made a choice for mud fishing?

Speaker 3 (01:41:00):
Well, personally, I mean I'm so listen.

Speaker 2 (01:41:03):
Whatever you do, fish, whatever year you've done before, a
couple of years ago, were you trying back?

Speaker 3 (01:41:10):
I will tell people something even better.

Speaker 9 (01:41:13):
Since it's so hard to get off shore right now
and fish for anything, if you want to go on
the beach and deal with the big surf, you could
probably still do well catching you ready for this, muttons
off the beach at night?

Speaker 2 (01:41:29):
Oh? Who's catching muttons off the actually night?

Speaker 9 (01:41:33):
Actually, I have a very good spot, and I will
give people a hint. It is if you go to
commercial Okay in Fort Lauderdale and fish off the beach there,
mark my words, you will find a spot where.

Speaker 3 (01:41:47):
You will catch keeper muttons at night.

Speaker 9 (01:41:50):
Now the trick is, obviously, as we all know, you
want extremely long leader okay, and now I like to
do line online, so I'm not using any swivels whatsoever
so that I can roll it in and when I
do a because you want to cast it out to
the second trough, there's two troughs.

Speaker 3 (01:42:10):
Off commercial and what I'm giving good information. Fine, I'm
telling you they.

Speaker 2 (01:42:18):
Are muttons off the beach. Show me some photos.

Speaker 3 (01:42:22):
I have them on my phone.

Speaker 2 (01:42:25):
My phone works, Send it to me. I will. How
big are they summer keepers? And some aren't deep?

Speaker 9 (01:42:34):
They're not going to be massive. I mean, I'm sure
there is some deep off the beach joke, No, I
like I said, there's two troughs there. You got the
the first trough, which is right right there, that's where you're.

Speaker 3 (01:42:46):
Gonna get snuck.

Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
How deep trough?

Speaker 9 (01:42:48):
I mean, it matters on the tide, but I'm going
to say it's just like a maybe a two two
foot deep or to four foot deep.

Speaker 3 (01:42:56):
And then you got then you got shallow, shallow, shallow shallow.
Then you have the second trough.

Speaker 9 (01:43:01):
Right that second trough you can get permit, Yes, I
said it, permit, big massive permit or you.

Speaker 3 (01:43:11):
Can catch keeper muttons or a big tarpain.

Speaker 2 (01:43:14):
Well, that was a great report, Captain Kamala. I really
enjoyed it. I'm just say, listen, thanks for making all
that up.

Speaker 3 (01:43:19):
You guys. Can you guys can take it or not.

Speaker 2 (01:43:21):
I was the biggest batch of fishing words. Saddle I've
heard in my life.

Speaker 3 (01:43:25):
A lot of that stuff. I learned when I first
moved here.

Speaker 9 (01:43:28):
I didn't have a boat, so I learned from a
lot of the locals certain spots on the beach that
were extremely good fishing.

Speaker 33 (01:43:36):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:43:37):
I picture research is after the shows you need to
off commercial. I'm better research this very seriously.

Speaker 3 (01:43:44):
Also, please remember, if you're gonna fish off the beach
and try to get like muttons and permit, you want
an extremely long rod so that you can flip that
thing out there.

Speaker 2 (01:43:53):
Gee, maybe throwing a place to plug where they might
want to buy all this gear.

Speaker 9 (01:43:56):
Oh and yes, speaking of plug in the hand, you
want one of those rod holders, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (01:44:02):
Just stick it in. Yeah, the right playng out for
a little bit. There you go make yourself a little
fire may tackle. And here's the thing. You want some
of this stuff. You go to Aces baiton Tackle. They
got awesome, beautiful location right on us one right by Atlantic. Okay,

(01:44:22):
it's right there, you cannot miss it.

Speaker 2 (01:44:24):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 9 (01:44:24):
You go there, they will tell you where to go,
what to use, what to do. They got some great
stuff there, and they got and.

Speaker 2 (01:44:32):
I'll go to Captain Harry's fishing.

Speaker 5 (01:44:34):
Did you guys see there's a baiting tackle place in
North Miami that's twenty four hours.

Speaker 2 (01:44:39):
That's pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (01:44:40):
Yeah, I saw my own John By like twenty four
hour baiting tackle.

Speaker 2 (01:44:44):
Well, I'm unhappy. They'll be a shush and do it
will break here, Okay, come back with the toy chests return, Joe,
the toy chest has returned.

Hey, hey, let's get right back to the Nautical Ventures
Weekly Fisherman Show powered by Mercury.

Speaker 2 (01:49:17):
Marie go boldly, Joe Hector, it's back, baby, it's back.
It's the Nautical Ventures Toy Chess.

Speaker 3 (01:49:27):
Let's open. I'm the Nautical Ventures Toy Chest and this
is your toy Chest moment.

Speaker 2 (01:49:41):
So we're featuring something this weekend. Steven Jack Gray rule
that Vince Surphy would please.

Speaker 3 (01:49:46):
My name is Joe Hector, and I run the Extreme
Kai Fishing Tournament series.

Speaker 12 (01:49:53):
You know a lot of people were questioning an.

Speaker 26 (01:49:55):
Offshore Kai fishing cold.

Speaker 3 (01:49:57):
I had a lot of people telling me it would
never work.

Speaker 9 (01:50:00):
Howard anglers possibly do something like this, But you know
what I'd say, four years later, we're pretty damn good.

Speaker 2 (01:50:09):
Right now, Look at that. Look at that?

Speaker 3 (01:50:22):
Look at that? Huh so.

Speaker 2 (01:50:26):
Our toy chest is talking about kayaking, Joe, look at that.
And we're showing on the video your kayak guys launching
off with your f cast series and your four years
and year number ten of they right now, right ten fifteen.
So my question to you is, Nottical Measures is your
go to people from front on the water right? Oh yeah, what,
in your opinion would be a beginning guy's best kayak

(01:50:49):
to try this sport and really take a shot and
going offshore and getting more involved with your guys, or
just on the weekend for pleasure with his family's kids.
What's a great yact.

Speaker 9 (01:51:00):
Well, there's two brands that I think at this point
have separated themselves from all the rest.

Speaker 3 (01:51:10):
One would be Old Town and the other would be Hoby.

Speaker 9 (01:51:14):
You know, they both have different options for what you're
looking for if it comes to like speed offshore or
if it goes to more like stationary type fishing or
fishing under bridges for instance. You know, the go to
kayak for anglers for years when going offshore and fishing
in my tournaments have been the Hobe Outback. Yep, it's

(01:51:37):
kind of a mix of two different worlds because you
have well, yeah, it's extremely stable, it's got four rod holders.
You got the turbo fins, so it's got it's mixing
a little bit of speed with a little bit of
comfort with a little bit of stationary bulkiness. Right, and listen,

(01:51:58):
you want to feel safe when you're offshore. And I
think the Outback compared to now, I'm not familiar with
all the different brands.

Speaker 2 (01:52:06):
Of the the Hoby series.

Speaker 3 (01:52:10):
No, no, no, the what's the other brand?

Speaker 2 (01:52:12):
I said, the uh Outland out Back?

Speaker 3 (01:52:15):
No, old Town They also have different brands.

Speaker 9 (01:52:20):
But we've been sponsored by Nautical and Hoby for years,
so that I know that kayak more well. But the
old towns have been getting way more popular the last
i'd say, like three to four years in our series,
you're seeing more and more of them.

Speaker 2 (01:52:34):
I have a Hobby Owner. When I had it before
they got jacked off my beach and stolen. I have
the Hoby Mirage tandem. Okay, okay, now, what's cool. But
the Hobys are we haven't talked about. This is the
Mirage drive, right, the Mirage pedal drive, yes, which they've
always got a big patent. Bottle okay, oh yeah. So
when I had mine, you can only going forward. Now
they have a little device and then you can actually

(01:52:55):
click backwards. It's pretty genius. So that that pedal drive. Man,
I would never go back to a paddle ever. That
pedal is badass and that and that's.

Speaker 9 (01:53:03):
Where going backwards is big too with what Hobi has
because if you're fishing, like under bridges, stuff like that.
That's why I like using personally a Hobie Revo. It's
it's a longer kayak, it's it's thinner, it's not as stable.
But but if you're gonna go like inshore and under

(01:53:24):
bridges and in and out of things and you're going forward, backward, whatever,
I think those kayaks are phenomenal for stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (01:53:32):
And then you got the the pas, which are the big.

Speaker 9 (01:53:34):
Bulky Hobies, you know, and and you know, I'm not
a huge fan of them for offshore, especially if you've
got to deal with going through surfs and stuff like
that and choppy weather. But they're very, very stable, and
it's like having a miniature boat. So you know, it's
to each their own which what they like. But they

(01:53:55):
offer a lot of different types.

Speaker 2 (01:53:57):
Great job you've told the audience what they should be using.
So guys pay attention to Jael. If you want to
find out more, by the way, go buy Nautical Ventures
and just see these boats or yacks rather than person
You can drive before you buy, stick them in their
little aclizone over there and play around. Yep, and the
prices are definitely right. Yeah, we've got less than forty
five seconds. Your tournament's coming up in January, correct, that's
what number eighty five thousand?

Speaker 3 (01:54:19):
Yes, so we got January. January twenty fifth will be
the twenty twenty five Salefish SmackDown in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Way more information will come out once we get a
little bit closer, but we did come out with the
date and we're set there, so plan for that. If
