The Morning Breeze on demand. Onthe Morning Breeze, Kenny Rogers, Dolly
part You know, Carolyn, KennyRodgers Estate is going to be releasing some
songs that no one's ever heard.Oh, some stuff, as they say,
that's been in the can. Yeah. I love Kenny Rogers. I
do too. And some of thosesongs will be are going to be duets

(00:22):
with Dolly Partons. Oh that's sogreat fun to hear that. Yeah,
it is six o nine, JackHelp and Carolyn McCardell here on the Morning
Breeze. And I was one thatthought positively I was done with the windshield
wipers for the year. I gotmy car washed last week. Of course
you did. Yeah, so sorry, Bay Area. This is all my
fault. Apparently I couldn't believe it. Like I heard a chance of rain.

(00:46):
But man, when I was drivingin today, did you get those
pockets of rain that were like intenseand then it would be dry and it
was just enough rain to make theroad slick? And you know what happens
goes on when that happens. Yeah, did you get stuck in that accident
in San Pablo? No? Ididn't. I got an alert on my
phone about it, and I too, I took another route in. Yeah,

(01:07):
I was very fortunate about that.I got a text from a coworker
who was about to be stuck init, and she was able to go
around. But if you're just kindof waking up and getting on the road,
this is in San Pablo eighty westboundat Sam Pablo Damn Road, and
it's a SIG alert, so thatmeans delays of thirty minutes or more.
And there's two cars in this crash. The left lane is blocked, the

(01:29):
right lane is blocked, and there'sconcrete debris all over the road. We
got a car facing the wrong wayand the backup right now is to the
Richmond Parkway and they say there's noestimated time of reopening. I guess it
was a big rig that hit abunch of concrete or somehow sent concrete onto
the other side of the freeway andthat's what kind of started this. So
there are definite delays out there everywhere, but that's one of the biggest ones.

(01:49):
Yeah, take it slow, checkbefore you go for sure. Don't
need me to tell you that.Yeah, thanks dad? Yeah. Eight
seven seven nine eight one h nineeight one. Always on Facebook on Twitter,
on Instagram at ninety eight one TheBreeze and if you miss the big
announcement yesterday, Jack announced, Yeah, this is my last week on the
Morning Breeze. But we have toreiterate that Carolyn is going nowhere. Yeah,

(02:15):
well let me rephrase that she's goingto be here. She's going to
be staying. So it's all good. I'll be here. But we're gonna
continue celebrating Jack all week. Andis there nothing else we can celebrate?
No, this is a good one. We're gonna stick with this. We're
going to stick with this. Somore to come on that this Morning on
the Breeze. Now we'll look atour forecast. Peter Gabriel and a relaxed

(02:38):
favorite Here on the Morning Breeze. It is six twenty seven, Jack Holp
and Carolin mccarnell. I wanted toask you Jack, since we made the
announcement yesterday that this will be yourfinal week on the Morning Breeze. As
you work your way into the wordthat you don't want to say, but
I'm going to say retire. Oh, I've got to come up with another
word. A friend of mine,a friend of mine said, why don't

(02:59):
you say pivot, So I'm pivoting. I'm not retiring. Seen that before,
Okay, as you work your wayinto your pivot doesn't sound right.
It's just my thing, that's all. I just wanted to ask you because
yesterday was such a big day, right, there's so much coming in with
social media and people calling, whichwas so nice. But how are you

(03:21):
feeling as you've had a data processthat you finally made the big announcement.
Well, you know, that's agreat question. And when we made the
announcement yesterday, I had said thatKim and I had been planning this for
months, but I think making theannouncement and making it official, yeah,
that's when it really hit Yeah, that my time here is limited. Yeah.

(03:45):
And you know, you go throughlife and you think, well,
that'll never end, that'll never end, that'll never Well, this is ending
for me, not for you,but for me. Yeah, and it's
just a very there's a finality toit. That's just very hard for me
to digest. I think when Ithink about, Okay, well Jack has
four more days on the air here, and I think about the fact that

(04:05):
I'm never going to be on theair with him again, I get so
sad. Inside. Oh, likeit's so real. You know I feel
the same way, Carolyn, andI appreciate hearing that. Thank you so
much. Oh my gosh. Well, you're going to be miss for sure,
and we are going to continue tocelebrate Jack's pivot all week eight seven
seven, nine, eight one ohnine eight one. Good morning, Kennon

(04:27):
pleasant Hill. I'm gonna miss Jack. Oh, I'm gonna miss you too.
Ken. I'm gonna miss your voice. I love your voice. Things
will be great here. You needto make books so I can listen to
your books. Hey, you knowthat's a possibility. That's something that I
could do. You got the voicethat's very soothing, very you know,
definitely we'll miss you. I'll missyou too. Thanks, Ken, I

(04:48):
appreciate that. You know, Ilove Lothius Ken. Thank you, Ken,
appreciate that. Thanks for calling, and we'd love to hear from you
this morning. Eight seven, seven, nine, eight one nine eight one.
And a reminder that coming up ateight fifty this morning, we will
be commercial free here on the Breeze. We've got at least ninety eight minutes
of commercial free relaxing favorites to startoff your day in the office or working

(05:12):
from home. We'll do that ateight fifty on the Breeze. Now we'll
look at our forecast. It's themorning Breezing. Coming up on the brighter
Side. A great story about kidshelping kids right here in the East Bay.
It's a negative that was definitely turnedinto a positive. We're going to
share the story with you. Comingup on the brighter Side after Rod Stewart
on the breeze. Breeze, RodStewarts on the base number one four relaxing

(05:39):
Favorites in the morning. It's theMorning Breeze. Jack Holt and Carola mccartell
at seven oh seven, It istime for the Brighter Side. Eight seven
seven nine eight one h nine eightone is how you reach us. Tell
us what's happening in your life that'sgood, that makes you happy. We
are all ears and it's sponsored byShriven Company, Luxury time pieces, fine
designers and Flawless Diamonds. Do youremember earlier in the year, Carolyn,

(06:00):
the Oakland School of the Arts, somebody broke in and stole about thirty thousand
dollars worth of instruments. Yes,our son, our youngest is really into
music. And when I saw thisstory, it just really burned me.
But apparently Jack Becker, who wasan Eagle Scout and goes to Campbell Indo
High School in Moraga, it burnedhim as well. Yeah, he wanted

(06:25):
to help out, and so hegot a group of kids together. They
raised money and donated it they wantthey needed or wanted thirty thousand dollars.
What's awesome is other students, certainlyadministrators and just people that heard about this
story what happened. They all chippedin and they went over the thirty thousand

(06:46):
dollars. I think they raised likeforty grand forty thousand dollars. So they
were able to refurbish any of theinstruments that were left behind by the thieves
and purchase obviously purchase new ones.So yeah, they held a benefit,
a concert. Students from all overthe East Bay, different schools came together
and they held this concert and Yep, there are forty thousand dollars. That's

(07:10):
what's like that is really neat aboutthis story. As other students, I
mean, like I said, therewere administrators, there were just people that
heard the story in the news. But I look back to when I was
in high school and if something likethis had happened in another high school.
I'll be honest, as a kid, I probably would have said, well,
that's too bad and gone on withmy life. Right. But that's
what makes this story for me sospecial. As these other kids who are

(07:33):
clearly better than I was when Iwas sixteen, you know, they're jumping
into help out. It's just adifferent world now, and I love that
part of this story. Becker said, I wanted to help as much as
I could, and there's no betterway than doing something like this. And
sure, words who were never spoken, congratulations, Yeah, and what an
inspiration. It's a fantastic story. We're going to share it with you on

(07:54):
our Facebook page at ninety eight onethe Breeze And if you have a brighter
side for us eight seven seven nineeight one nine eight one eight fifty this

man, are we sure going tomiss you? Of course, you made
the announcement yesterday that you're going tobe retiring. It's so weird to even
say it, really still, yeah, I don't know if I'll ever get
used to it. We're at eightseven seven nine eight one o nine eight

(08:43):
one. Good morning the Breeze.Who's this duchy? Hi? I don't

or know someone else's coming in.We're going to make that announcement on Thursday,
right, okay, okay, allright, So we just want to
celebrate Jack every single moment of everysingle day. Yeah, Friday, definitely.
It was a busy day yesterday. When I heard it, I was
like, oh my god, Ikept telling you like my coworker, Oh

(09:52):
my god, I ken't believe. So you have been amazing. I'd love
your chemistry that that you two have. You have been my morning coffee might
go to every single day, butyou know you deserve it. You know
you deserve the time off to justchill, relax and enjoy the rest of
your life until six in the morning. I like that idea six in the

(10:16):
morning. That's funny. You guys, take care and I'll be listening.
Take care, all right, Loveyou guys. I want to point out
something that Chachi said that really struckme yesterday Jack, as I read through
our hundreds of comments on social medialisteners kind of weighing in and wishing you
well. Was that so many peoplesaid we love you guys together in the

(10:39):
morning. Your chemistry is so good. I wake up with you, and
it is like a cup of coffee, like Chachi said, And I think
that is the greatest compliment to aradio show. Absolutely, that's what we
live for, you know, That'swhy we do what we do. Yeah,
and get paid for it. Iknow, we're so lucky. Who
were so lucky? How on earthdo we get paid to do the thing?
I don't know. You better keepthat on the download by the super

(11:00):
Grateful. We're not saying we getpaid, well, we get paid.
We get paid, But Chachi, thank you. And we're at eight seven
seven nine eight one h nine eightone. As we celebrate Jack's retirement all
week long. You can certainly joinin on our conversation on our Facebook page,
Twitter, Instagram as well at ninetyeight one The Breeze coming up at
eight fifty this morning, We're goingto be commercial free here on the Breeze

(11:22):
with at least ninety eight minutes NonStopcommercial free relaxing favorites to start your work
day at eight fifty seven forty twoon the bays number one for relaxing favorites
in the morning. And that's somejourney Jack Culp and Carolyn McCardell my last
week here on the Breeze. Nowevery time you say it, it just
doesn't seem real. I don't thinkI'm ready to accept it. Jack has

(11:43):
chosen to retire, which good foryou, thank you, and you're staying
here. I'm staying. But Iwas thinking last night about we've been working
together seven years. Yeah, howmany memories we have. And one of
my favorite things that the listeners actuallynever get to be a pot over here

(12:03):
is this looking behind the curtain.Yeah, it's a little peep behind the
curtain here on the Morning Breeze. After the show. A lot of times
we have to cut commercials or recordcommercials, and it always goes according to
plan, doesn't I was going tosay, while we're so flawless on the
arrow, which is I put thatin quotes right, you can imagine what

(12:24):
it's like off the art, itdoesn't always go as smooth. So there
was a client, or you're buildingthis up. Here's a client years ago.
This is years ago called Pandora Jewelryhere in the Bay Area. Wonderful
people, wonderful product, and wehad to do a commercial for them.
Well it wasn't easy. Hi,Jack Colp and Carola McCardell from the Morning

(12:46):
Breeze, it's gift giving time. And every woman is unique, you know
that, and you should give agift that matches her personality and sense of
style. Here comes Pandora Jewelers.A man all I have? That's okay,
now, all right, all right. Pandora Jewelry. They go all
out with unique pieces of jewelry thatyou They go all out with the most

(13:09):
beautiful, unique jewelry and it andthey'd love to see a stop by the
store and have you tried someone? And they'd love to have you stopped in
the store and have We had somany takes on that commercial that by the
end we were just bloopy. Right, that's just a little fraction. And
I think because we have so manyof the those takes that I've saved over

(13:31):
the years, Jack on our whatwe call our blooper reel. Yeah,
that throughout the rest of the week, I want to definitely play some more
of those because they still crack meup after all this time. But we're
celebrating Jack as Yes, he announcedthat this is his final week on the
Breeze as he's making his way intoretirement. He called it a pivot earlier,
so he is pivoting his way intoretire. That's my word of choice.

(13:52):
Yeah, we're gonna celebrate him allweek long. We're at eight seven,
seven, nine, eight one, nine eight one. It's the morning
Breeze, Jack, Help and Caroland mccarto. My last week here on
the Breeze. Hard to believe thatyou're retiring. Miss you so much.
Eight seven seven, nine, eightone, nine eight one. Dairy and

(14:13):
San Ramon, Hi, good morning. You know what I like about you
guys, besides of good music,is that you share your lives with us.
You know, I know where Carolynlives. I know, I mean
I know the city she lives in. That's right. Are your doors locks?
Phone calls that I know where youlive? About you guys kind of

(14:37):
stuff with them. It's your personalthat's just radio announces. You know.
It's nice. Well, that's niceto hear. That's what we strive for
this. You guys want to wayto work at grade, So Jack,
you take it easy, man,I got two before Friday. Yeah,
yeah, we're glad you call.Thank you. Okay, you guys have
a good day. The Bay's numberone four relaxing favorites at work. It's

(15:01):
eight oh eight with Jack Culp andCarola mccartell on the Morning Breeze. I
saw a statistic the other day,Jack that being a stay at home mom
is the equivalent of two point fivefull time jobs. Oh I believe it.
Yeah, yeah, I don't doubtthat for a second. Yeah.
I was thinking back to when Igrew up and when you grew up,

(15:24):
different time. Right, there werea lot of stay at home moms.
What did your mom? Was shejust stay at home mom? She was
no, she was a school teacher, so she had she had double duty.
I don't know how she did it. I mean taking care of my
sister and me and then and thentaking care of a classroom full of kids
and then grading their homework over theweekends at home. And I don't know.

(15:48):
I don't know how she did it. I don't know if she managed
to do it. Yeah, it'sincredible. How about you. My mom,
Mary was a full time moms, stay at home mom. There are
four of us kids, me,my three younger brothers, So my mom
stayed home and took care of thekids. My dad went to work in
San Francisco every day, and that'swhat we did for years. But now

(16:10):
she my mom works at eighty. She's going out to Lodi once every other
week and training dogs a physical jobtoo. It's really incredible. You know.
We put this question on our Facebookpage this morning, and I'll be
honest with you, I thought thatwhen we posted this and said, Hey,
what did your mom do for aliving? Does she have an office
job? Would she stay at home? I am genuinely blown away by how

(16:33):
many of our listeners their moms didmultiple jobs. You know. Yeah,
We've got Becky whose mom worked atSanta Clara Cannery canning cherries until she retired.
Plus she was a mom. Wehave a shop assistant. We have
a lot of Morning Breeze listeners whosemoms were nurses when they were growing up.

(16:56):
It's incredible. Yeah, they didwhat they had to do. And
just I look back on my momand she must have been exhausted by the
end of the day. I knowshe did. She did all the you
know, quote unquote housewifey things tokeep the family afloat, prepared meals,
pack lunches, and then you know, after she took care of us,

(17:18):
she had to head out the door. Yeah, and I don't know how
she did it. That's exactly Mythought and my point of all this is
when we see the statistic that saysstudies show moms work the equivalent of two
and a half full time jobs.Well, it's like, okay, now,
after reading through this and taking aminute to stop down and think about
it, ye have another job inthere. Sounds yeah, it sounds about
right. But to all the momsand the dads that are doing multiple chores,

(17:41):
like you know, thank you fordoing what you do. And we're
at eight seven seven nine eight oneh nine eight one. This conversation is
ongoing on our Facebook page. Youcan certainly weigh in there if it's more
convenient than picking up the phone andcalling. As we know you're very busy
and coming up later on this hourat eat fifty this morning to start off

(18:02):
your day, no matter what you'redoing, we're going to be commercial free
at least ninety eight minutes, NonStop, commercial free, relaxing favorites right at
eight fifty. Good gratulations, Jackon your retirement Live Life, Live Live
Live. Jack renamed retirement this morningto pivot. It's pivoting. Yeah,

(18:23):
it's pivoting. That's so sweet. It's hard for me to imagine not doing
anything, you know what I mean. Yeah, so, yeah, we'll
have some fun. But I'm goingto continue doing something. I don't know
what, but pivoting isn't the rightword. Yeah, we announced yesterday morning.
Jeez, it feels like it's beena week and a half, but
it's been listeners feel weekend. Iknow that Jack is going to be leaving

(18:47):
us. This is his last weekon the Breeze. Carolyn is not.
Yeah, I'll show you stuck withme. But thank you so much.
