My wife? Yea, and shegoes so the whole neighborhood could hear it.
Last time. It's very cute lasttime that alarm's gonna go off.

that cover the tribute band Petty Theft. They're going to be one of my
favorites by the way. That yeah, so good, great stuff and so
tickets available Marine Humane dot org.But it's going to be a great afternoon.
I still have a Wolfstock t shirt. You do, Yeah, we
all wear that on Sunday. Youshould. And I love that you're retiring,

day on the Morning Breeze. AfterBrian Adams on the Bay, he's number
one four relaxing favorites in the Morning, It's the Breeze, the Morning Breeze.

(13:13):
I always tease Carolyn about the factthat she's such a Brian Adams fan.
You still have the poster hanging onyour wall. Lineup, boys,
somebody's got a poster. Yeah, and you've got to make room for Brian
I do. I'm excited. I'mgoing to see him in July? Are
you kidding me? Very good?So fun. It's eight away here on
the Morning Breeze and we've been talkingabout a special get. This is a

(13:35):
complete surprise to me. Good somebodywho's a real fan of the Breeze and
he and I have been friends forI don't know how long. I don't
even want to say how long. But my friend Carlos, Carlos Couldnaro's welcome
to the Morning Breeze. It's ahuge pleasure, pleasure. And what makes
Carlos unique and the reason why Iadmire him so much is he is an

(14:00):
amazing artist. He I guess youspecialized in sports sketches, but but but
many other topics because subjects as well. And what makes you amazing, such
an amazing talent is you make thesesketches. You provide these sketches so quickly.
When did you get started. I'vebeen sketching since I was It all
started with Star Wars. Oh yeah, that's right, And I started sketching

(14:24):
and um back and when Star Warscame out. This was a nineteen seventy
nineteen seventy nine at a classmate whoum shared his work with me. He
still Beaum started drawing sketching these StarWars spaceships, and so I enjoyed them,
and so I went and he gaveme his a sketch of his and

(14:46):
so I had to say, I'mgonna do this. So I went home
and started looking up my I pulledout my Star Wars trading card, right,
I pulled out the spaceships and that'swhen I started. Um, that's
started. So you were that's whenyou discovered that you did have a talent
for this. Yes, yeah, because actually you know, I was a

(15:09):
fourth grade I entered a contest.Uh huh, Well, the grandmar Square
I went to and um, Iwas absent the day they announced the winner.
So the next day I come inand there was a huge candy bar.
Oh okay, finding out that Idid win first prize. You want
to remember what I sketched, butI won, It was worth a candy

(15:30):
bar. Very good. Most ofthe sketches that I see that you do
are of San Francisco Giants players thatI know you're a Giants fan. I
see you on social media at thegames all the time. So just being
a fan, you started sketching theGiants and the rest is history. Yes,
that's where it all started. Um. Friends were telling me you need
to you know, you just youneed to do something with this work and

(15:52):
I I, um, I justI just found myself improving. Yeah,
and um, I think I'm I'mdoing I'm doing pretty well. You're great,
you really are. Who's go ahead. I'm sorry. I was gonna
say to have the giants seen yourwork? Any of the Giant players have
seen my work? And wow,no autographed and signed it, Bruce Bochi

(16:14):
that's so cool and us, Ohmy gosh. And um and they they
they look at it. They shockeda bit. Yeah, very surprised.
And yeah, well you know who'sone of the first in line when your
calendars are announced for sale every year. Yeah, you're looking at them,
mister Jack Coole Carlos sent me toUm, so I know you brought a

(16:38):
gift today. Um, do youwant to It's hard to do on the
radio, but I really want youto share this. But you know you
will be missed many thank you, including myself, and thanks so much.
So. Um, you know thisis the first time you have actually met
in person. Yeah, but Ireally enjoyed our sure likewise, it's been
great, and so you are,Oh look at this. It's radio so

(17:03):
it's really impossible. But it's anice sketch of Carolyn and myself. That's
really it is incrediblach. It's beautiful, and Carlos, thank you. You
are very much such a talent. So here's what we're going to do.
We'll take a picture of that pictureand try and do it justice. We'll

(17:48):
Back in a second on the Breeze. Jack Hope and Carolyn McCardell here on
the Morning Breeze on my final days, I'm retiring. Nancy in San Jose,
Good morning, good morning morning.I just wanted to take congratulations to
Jack for you know, his retirementand tell you guys how much I've enjoyed

(18:11):
listening to you. I remember whenyou were a couple of weeks into it
and you were like, oh mygod, we've been working together forever and
you guys were so brand new toeach other. Yeah, and now all
these years later, it just seemslike, oh my gosh, it must
seem like a life sight. Thanksfor being with us all those time.
What a great observation when we sayour listeners are the best. I mean,

(18:33):
you guys have been there for usfrom the beginning. It's incredible.
You're so grateful for you. Well, thank you, We appreciate you.
And no best to luck Jack onyour bakers in your new life. Nancy,
thank you so much. That meansa lot. All right, I
have a wonderful day and enjoy everythingyou do in the future. Louise the

(18:56):
base number one for relaxing favorites Inthe morning, Jack Copen, Harold McCardell
on my final day this morning hereon the breeze. Yeah, we've been
taking your calls all morning at eightseven seven nine, eight one oh nine
eight one is we're celebrating Jack allthe way into his retirement. Ron and
Vallejo, Good morning, Hey Jack, Congratulations man, my hard drop when

(19:18):
I heard it. But a welldeserved my friend. And you've been part
of our lives, especially my lifeI've been I commute quite a bit in
my job throughout and with the otherstation you work for, as well as
the station with Carolyn and stuff you'vebeen. You make my morning's bright.
Did you make a difference? Andyou have made a difference. I can't
tell you what that means to us, but hey, I'm glad you're doing
it because so many people, youknow, live to work, and I

(19:40):
want you to live for life, you know, and go out and put
your toes in the sand and lookat the sunsets and the sunrise and didn't
at the same time with your familybecause you never know. Man, tomorrow
is not promised, only to dayis. And thank you so much for
everything you've got. Ooh well, thank you for your loyalty, and thank
you for listening. Absolutely, Thankyou guys. Take care for Louise.
The bay has never won for relaxingfavorites. Why your work, Jack Help

(20:03):
and Carolyn McCardell on the morning Breeze. Hard to believe that is the last
time that I will be saying that. That is and so weird to say.
I know, I have the worstcase of cotton mouth right now.
That's okay, it's a big moment, Jack, This is how many years
in the making. Yeah, it'shard to think about that. But there's

(20:25):
some people that I really need toacknowledge, and especially our programming brain trust
here at I Heeart San Francisco,Rickie Filliar and Don Parker, who were
generous enough despite the fact that Igave them enough notice that I was going
to be leaving. Not many programmerswould trust their air staff or an air

(20:47):
quote unquote talent to finish out theirterm. They would usually get yanked right
off the air because I don't know, we don't know if we can trust
this guy. So they saw somethingand they were very generous and letting me
finish finish out my term. AndCarolyn McCardell, what many people don't realize
is that she's not only a brilliantco host, but she's also executive producer

(21:11):
of The Morning Breeze. She's overthere pushing the buttons, keeping us on
time, coming up with great ideasof things to talk about on the air.
So basically things they don't trust mewith. Carolyn takes over and rightly
so. And the best group ofair talent in the country, Lisa Saint
Regis, Tony Sandoval, Sylvia Jacon, Nicky Ross, and Karina Valascoez who

(21:36):
fills in for Carolyn every once ina while when when Carolyn is away.
I can't say how proud I amto be able to say that I worked
with a group of people of thatcaliber. Um, Kim, my wife,
our sons, I've choken up.It's okay, Kim, Jordan and
Andrew, Kim as I'm not afraidto say, wakes up the same alarm.

(22:00):
I wake up every morning at thesame time at three forty five.
And Jordan and Andrew they're out ofthe house now, but they were back
to school nights that I'd nod offin the back of the classroom because of
the hours that I was keeping. And last, but certainly not least,
our listeners. And we've said thistime and time again, the best in
the world. We wouldn't be hereif you weren't there. It's as plain

(22:23):
as that. And I'm going tomiss you terribly, so thank you for
your loyalty all these years. It'son to the new morning Breeze on Monday,
Carolin is going to be teaming upwith court Johnson, who we had
yesterday on the air with us,and it's going to be great. I
will be listening as well, Sothank you also very much. Well,
no pressure there. Well, firstof all, Jack, thank you for

(22:47):
the past seven years. I hadno idea when we started out on this
journey together. Yeah, I'm gettingall choked up, stop it. I
had no idea where the show wouldgo. I didn't I knew of you
in the industry when we started, but I didn't know you. And to
think back on where we started andthis radio station was brand new and where

(23:11):
we've come. We can finish eachother's sentences. I know what you want
to talk about, what you don'twant to talk about on the air,
And likewise, I know what kindof wine you like to drink. I
know where the boys went to school. I know all those things. And
you have become family, and ourlisteners have become family. Absolutely. Yeah,
Jack, and I genuinely love eachand every person that calls, Everybody

(23:34):
that says I love that song youplayed, everybody that has called this whole
week and said, remember when youguys talked about X y Z and that
is a huge testament to you,Jack, the impact you have had on
our listeners. You have been inthe Bay Area for many, many,
many, many many years, andI just want you to know that over

(23:56):
the past seven years alone, youhave made me a better broad jester,
a better human being, and Iwill forever be grateful for the seven years
that I had with you on thisradio station. Then the feeling is mutual.
It has been a blast. Thankyou so much. It's so hard
to say goodbye, but I amso happy for you that you're onto this

(24:21):
next chapter of your life, becausemy goodness, do you deserve it.
Just remember if you're if you're runninglate in the morning, don't text me.
From now on, text court, okay, but feel free to text
me at each time you like nokiddy, So thank you, We love
you, and we wish you nothingbut the best in the future. We
are back in a second. Thebreeze mostly cloudy for
