The Morning Breeze, Morning Breeze onDemand, the base number one for relaxing
favorites for your morning ninety eight pointone The Breeze six h six The Morning
Breeze. Carolyn McCardell, Court Johnson, Good morning, Court, Good morning
Carolyn. Today, a couple ofimportant things going on. I wanted to
bring up. It's Nurses Appreciation Week. It's also Teacher Appreciation Week and Day
(00:24):
Today specifically, all in the sameweek. Why do they do that?
I was thinking about that on theway end. Why do they put two
very important things on the same weekwhen those are two very important careers.
Why are they sharing? I thinkthe bigger question here, Carolyn, is
who is the they who puts together? That's a great There are no communication
(00:44):
between these different organizations, these nationalappreciations, Right, somebody's at the helm
of this. Now, everybody, let's get together with our calendar so we
can figure this thing out. Now, Court, let me ask you,
yeah, do you have a Let'sstart with teachers. Do you have a
teacher that you remember from years pastthat was special to you, that stood
out to you for some reason. You know, I have quite a few,
but I want to actually turn ina little bit here. My daughter
(01:07):
Quinn, a senior in high school, got this email from mister buck Halter.
He's like the he does like thebusiness classes in the high school.
I just always loved teacher names. Why are they always so funny? Every
teacher name is so funny? Everybodycalls them Bucky. Okay, he's not.
He's not Quinn's teacher, but becauseshe's in leadership, she often has
to interact with different teachers. Hesent her this email. She forwarded to
(01:29):
us like with a crying emoji becauseit was so special. He basically just
said, thank you for all yourhard work, so proud of everything you're
doing for the school. And thenand then even pointed out that she she
had become all state in dance andhe knew all these things about her,
And to me, it was justlike, all right, that's the epitome
of a great teacher. That's justlittle things like that that boost you know,
confidence and kids. It was great. So, mister buck Halter,
(01:53):
you're the man. It always marvel. I always marvel at the fact that
teachers have, however many kids intheir classes, thirty sometimes sixty, sometimes
more, and how they know eachindividual kid they learn their names, they
know about them, like that teacherknew about Quinn. It's really incredible.
It's really incredible. Good Old Buckygood Old, the fact that you can
(02:14):
call him Bucky. I think forme it was I had two teachers,
Miss Simonson, who was my peteacher in high school, and missus Stiles,
who was my typing teacher. That'show long ago that was on an
electric typewriter. But just such specialteachers. So to all of the teachers
out there, Happy National Teacher AppreciationDay and week. And to all of
(02:36):
the nurses, thank you for allyou do. We appreciate you. We're
at eight seven seven nine eight oneh nine eight one. If you've got
a teacher you would like to shoutout, we'd love to hear from you.
You can always use the talk backmicrophone on our iHeartRadio app. Just
while you're listening to the Breeze onthe app, push that microphone button,
speak into it and we'll get yourmessage right away. Here in the studio.
Now we'll look at our local forecastsix twenty five on the Morning Breeze
(03:01):
the Bays number one for relaxing favoritesin the morning. Caroline mccartell, Court
Johnson. Good morning, And ifyou are living or even working or visiting
San Francisco soon, just an fyifor you that there is apparently a fake
parking citation scam that's happening. Haveyou heard about this? Yeah, was
(03:23):
reading about this, and it's prettyfreaky for somebody like me, who I'm
one of those people who I loveto follow rules. I'm passionate about it.
Yeah, and so the thought ofwalking out and seeing a ticket on
my car would freak me out.Yes, And there's some things that these
people are doing that are a littledifferent because normally on scams, like if
(03:44):
the way you pay them, they'relike you have to go buy some gift
cards and then call us and giveus. That's when you know it's a
scam. It seems a little moreobvious. They're actually losing using a legitimate
payment method. They're using square,Yes, take these payments, that's exactly.
So they're leaving these thieves or whateverleaving these parking tickets on people's cars
in the city. They look likelegit parking tickets number one, number two.
(04:06):
There's a QR code that you scan. Then the QR code takes you
to a website. I guess thatwould be Square or something. But you
click on this link and it asksyou for a payment. Yeah, but
it takes you to a website thatlooks exactly like the SFMTA site. So
that's where people are falling for it. Now. The difference, and here's
(04:29):
how you know it's fake, iswhen it takes you to that website SFMTA
Parking or website that ends with adot com. The fake website ends with
a dot app dot app, right, So that's how they know. And
I guess they've got San Francisco ParkingControl extra officers out there that are looking
for these tickets on cars and pullingthem off your windshield if they see that
(04:51):
you've got one, but just beaware if they don't get to it before
you do. Yeah. No,it's scary because again it goes to this
idea of finding somebody who might bevulnera bowl at that moment, because I've
been there before. Again, Ilike to follow rules. And somebody called
me and said, hey, youowe me sixty bucks, I'd be like
I do. Yeah. I don'tlike to get behind in payments. I
don't want to have to pay afee. If I'm behind, and so
they're just prying, you know, hoping somebody's not paying attention. That's exactly
(05:14):
it. And if you're like meas well, where you're super ocd about
it. When I get a ticket, I pay it right away because I
want it out of my life.I don't want to think about it,
and I certainly don't want to belate. So for those people, just
take a beat. If you geta ticket in San Francisco, look at
it, make sure it's legit, yeah, because it might not be.
I think. The other thing youmight want to try on this too,
is like it asks for the citationnumber. Yeah, on the website and
(05:38):
the ticket you have as a citationnumber. If you're suspect, suspect a
little bit, type in the wrongnumber and see what it does. Oh.
Interesting, because the bad website, the website that scamming people, will
take any number. And then I'llbe like, yep, you owe us
sixty bucks. Oh that might be. It's good, easy way to do
it, because you know, theSan Francisco one will actually say, no,
what are you talking about? Thisisn't legit. Wow. Good point,
(06:00):
good point on that. All right, we're gonna put more on this
on the Morning Breeze page ninety eightone, the Breeze dot Com. You
can reach us eight seven seven nineeight one h nine eight one. Maybe
you have been a victim of this, maybe you know somebody that's been a

who I might pick. Can youshare Matchbucks twenty oh? But they cool?
But then I start thinking, Ihaven't seen Rod Stewart in concert,
I know, so it might beRod Stewart. Tough choice. You can
eat a Baker. Let's see, this is what makes it tough. Eight

Hi end, Good morning to Kathyand San Leandro. Good morning,
Court, welcome to the bay.Thank you. How were you, Kathy?
I'm doing great. I called witha wonderful news. What my daughter
got engaged over the weekend. Everyyoung girl's dream. She got proposed to
(08:11):
it. She's listen a y andher and her boyfriend Kate, flew in
to Disneyland. She just they justas for the moment, you know,
took a seven day trip to LosAngeles and he surprised her with a proposal
in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle.Did he ask you guys permission first?
Or did he surprise literally all ofyou? No, he didn't. He
(08:35):
was so afraid for her to findout. I didn't know anybody. Doesn't
sound like you would have objected ifhe had asked permission anyway, right,
Yeah, not at all. Hedidn't want her to get suspicious. So
it was wonderful news. Well, congratulations again, Kathy. We are so
happy for you. Have a goodday. I will thank you, Caroline.
(08:56):
You two Court. I am notmarried. Court. However, do
people still ask permission? I thinksome do, but I think more and
more we're going to see less andless of it, so that's becoming sort
of I don't want to call itan old fashioned thing to ask permission,
but is it? It's just notas common. I'll call it that it's
old fashioned. We're at eight seven, seven, nine, eight one h
(09:20):
ninety eight one. If you havea brighter side for us coming up in
less than an hour eight oh fivethis morning, it's your chance to pick
your ticket. You've got Rod StewartMatchbox twenty or Anita Baker. Who will
you choose? Such good artists? It is your choice. As you get
to pick your ticket eight o five, your chance to win on the Breeze.
That is Sam Smith on the Bay'snumber one for relaxing favorites for your
(09:43):
morning ninety eight point one The Breezeseven twenty three The Morning Breeze. Carolyn
McCardell Court Johnson. So Carolyn,I have a dilemma that okay, maybe
you maybe our listeners can help meout with Okay, all right. So
I'm making my way through my firstweek here at the Breeze and my heart
San Francisco. I want to bea good coworker with the people we work
(10:05):
with. And as I'm getting settledfiguring out my routines, one of which
is I'm like, oh, Ihave morning coffee. So I need to
bring in my favorite I have afavorite creamer. Oh my gosh, me
too. Okay, really like it. So I brought it in yesterday,
put it in the fridge. Andthen last night I was recamping talking with
my wife and she's like, oh, did you put your name on your
creamer? Yeah? And I waslike, I don't want to be that
(10:26):
guy that's untrusting of my brand newcoworkers. Your first week, you come
in and everything says Court Johnson onit in the fridge. Point, I
guess you don't need your last name. There's probably only one Court in this
building. But I digress. Yeah. So the question to you, Carolyn
and listeners like am I a jerkif I put my name on it?
Is if you open up that fridgeand the creamer is just shouting Court at
(10:46):
you, what's your takeawa on that? Because honestly, I don't mind sharing
it necessarily because it's delicious. Soit's really good, but don't hump me.
I also don't want to walk inon a Monday morning and not have
any creamer that's a fun. Yeah, I think I think you should put
your name on it. Okre's whythis building is notorious for people stealing food
(11:07):
out of the fridge. I can'ttell you how many things have gone missing
in the fridge. And when you'recounting on the creamer for your coffee,
right, and if it's not there, that that could turn your whole day
upside down. I'm still particular aboutit, like this, this is my
creamer. This is really yeah,I don't enjoy it without this particular kind.
It's it's Belgium toffee. It's sogood. Now I want that creamery.
(11:28):
You better put your name on it. No, I mean, I
think our refrigerator is ridiculous. Youopen it up and it's like a wall
of other people's food. I can'tI'm surprised you could even fit your creamer
in that fridge. But I don'tthink you're coming off as a jerk at
all. All right, I hitit kind of in the back, so
it's like that might be the wayto go about super curious about that creamer
though, who makes that? Youknow? And it's like looser and I
(11:48):
don't know it's offering. It's delightful. But yeah, I think and you
know every office has there like therefrigerator. The unspoken refrigerator roles. So
I don't know. Let's ask ouraudience what would you do? Does he
put his name on the creamer?Does he leave his creamer at home?
Do you share it without like? What should Court do? Eight seven seven
nine eight one h nine eight one. If it's easier for you to connect
(12:11):
with us on our Facebook page orTwitter or Instagram, certainly do that as
well. At ninety eight one TheBreeze eight o five this morning, about
thirty minutes from now, it's yourchance to pick your ticket. We have
three awesome artists for you to choosefrom. Yeah, Matchbox twenty, Anita
Baker or Rod Stewart. I thinkI'm going today. Yesterday it was Anita
Baker. Today I think I'm aRob's Rod Stewart vibe going on that.
(12:35):
That's where I'm leaning so good,So be here at eight oh five your
chance to win. Pick your ticketon the Breeze seven forty two. That
is Elton john on the Bays Numberone for relaxing favorites for your morning,
ninety eight point one The Breeze MorningBreeze Caroline McCardell Court Johnson on the way
to work this morning, I wasthinking about something court that happened to me
(12:56):
yesterday, and I thought, thisis one of those things it's like too
good to not share. So mymom, as she gets older, she
has less and less of a filteron things. So it was so funny.
Yesterday I went over to her house. She has this beautiful orchid on
her counter and I said, where'dyou get this orchid? And she said,
(13:16):
well, your brother, my brotherScott, gave it to her.
Yeah. And I was like, well that's nice and she said yeah,
but I don't want it. Like, well, it's a nice gift.
I said, Mom, if it'sin your way on the counter, just
move it to this table over here, to the side right. And she
thought about it. She said no, I don't want it there either,
and then she tried to give itto me. I'm like, well,
(13:37):
I don't want an orchid. Ican't take care of a plant. I'm
never home, and so I saidjust leave it. It will be fine.
Eventually, it will die. It'sa nice gesture. He did it
for her from he celebrated Mother's Daywith her early, and which makes it
even worse. This is a Mother'sDay gift and she's and we're having this
conversation. So a couple of secondslater, my brother Scott texts me.
He goes, hey, I'm goingto be in your neighborhood. You're going
(13:58):
to be home. I go,what do you do? Come on by?
He said, well, I needto pick up my orchid. I
said, she called you and ismaking you pick up your gift. So
my poor brother came over and hadto pick up his orchid, and I
wanted to take video of him walkingaway from the house with an orchid over
(14:18):
his shoulder and lumped down a littlebit. So bad for him. But
we all have that person in ourlives. It doesn't even have to be
like an older person. It couldbe just a friend of yours that has
no shame in taking a gift fromyou and then saying, you know what,
I don't. I don't think Iwant this, you can have it.
But there's something admirable about that.I mean, that filter is something
there. I've noticed as I've gottenolder, that filter. My wife has
(14:43):
to check me occasionally, like whereI'm not being very very kind, and
oftentimes it's towards I have the bestparents in law you could ask for.
That's awesome, but I often sometimesfeel like where they're dumping ground, where
they're like, hey, you guysneed this, and it's like a new
set of dishes or yeah, potsand pans. And while it's a nice
gesture, like we don't need it, and so I come across sometimes it's
(15:05):
very cold, and then Randy's likeelbowing me. I'm like, oh,
just take it. But you're likea speed bump in their drive to a
goodwill or a thrift store to donateit. They're like, why would we
go all the way there when wecan go to court and Randy's house and
just leave it there and we'll tellourselves it's a gift. Yeah, And
I'm just like, I'm like, there's to that point. I'm just like
(15:26):
being honest. I just like Idon't really I don't need this, thank
you, but I don't want Idon't want it. Yeah, So there's
something to that. There has tobe some sort of filter. My mom's
is gone, but it sounds likeyou and Randy still have a little bit
of a filter, which is Randy'smy filter. Actually I have filter.
Do you have this person in yourlife? Though? What have they done?
We want to hear about them?Eight seven seven nine eight one h

minutes ago that my mom was giftedin orchid for Mother's Day a week early
from my brother Scott, and sheturned around and said, I don't want
this gift and made him come sakeit home. Right. Apparently my mom
is not alone, and we've gotKaren in Pleasanton on the line. Well,
my dad isn't. He's trying toclear stuff up and he wanted to
(16:36):
get rid of some insulation of allthings, I'm just going to put out
in the street. I'm like,no, you can't put it down the
street. My stepmom was freaking outbecause she didn't want him to put it
out in the street, but Isaid, look, I'll just take it.
I just love the visual of yourdad basically dumping his insulation on you,
Like, why would anybody ever wantinsulation? Is that a thing?
People leave this out of the streetall the time. People take it furniture
