Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tate McCrae Revolving Door Key one hundred with Dave and
Gin hey Man. So yesterday Leo had his very first
dent disappointment.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Oh my goodness. He did very well.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Okay, good So the reason we originally made the appointment.
First of all, he needed to go to the dentist.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
He's three.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Next April he'll be four, so it's like, yeah, it's
about time to get his first appointment first check. Yes,
but if you'll recall, in September, he basically ran face
first into another kid at daycare, do you remember that?
And he busted his lips so hard that we thought
we might have to get stitches.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
I'd have to get a stitch.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Right, Sure, thankfully didn't have to get a stitch. It
healed so well and looks like it was never even there.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Right.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
However, after his lip healed, then we see that his
tooth went dark, like not completely dark, just started to
get a little gray. And I was like, oh, no,
we've killed that too. Goodness, because I remember my brother
Jason in baseball when he was in like little league baseball,
he went to catch a fly ball or whatever, and

(01:07):
it literally the sun blocked it. So he couldn't see
the ball and it busted him right in the tooth.
So then Jason's tooth went dead right.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
So so I was like, oh no.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
So we decided to make him the appointment. We did
take it with the doctor at the time. Everything. She
was like, I don't see any blisters and i'll see
any problems, so we'll just watch it. Take him to
the dentist, and I mean, yesterday his tooth was completely clear.
It's not even it's not even gray anymore. Like it's
back to normal.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Awesome. And then Kara Smith.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Who is his dentist, looked at it and she was like,
I don't see a single thing wrong with that tooth.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
I was like, that is awful.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
And then the dental hygienist, Renee, is the one who
brushed his teeth. She even said she was like, the
first time, you know, we brush his teeth with a
manual toothbrush, and then next time we'll use the spin brush.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
I said, okay.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
So she brushed his teeth and he held his little
mouth open for and and then he she goes, can
I see how you brush your teeth? And so he
rushed his teeth in front of her and she goes, wow,
you do really good at that. And then I guess
she wiped some floor eyed on his teeth, and she said, here,
I'll give you some water so you can rinse out
your mouth. And she goes does it feel because he

(02:15):
was like eh, and she goes, does it feel spicy?
I guess that's what other kids have said, and so
he goes, yeah, it feels spicy.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
And then so she put the little water shooter, you know.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
So she put that in his mouth and filled up
his mouth and he just immediately swallowed it. She goes, okay, well,
now you want to switch it around. Okay, and so
she does it again. He switches it and then swallows
it okay. And then she goes, okay, are you good?
And he goes, it's still spicy.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
And he opens his mouth real wide. So she goes, okay,
one last time, let's raise the water in his mouth.
I was like, all right, buddy, that's that.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
I think you're just looking for a cool way to
drink water now, okay, right there.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
But so what's so funny is that I told him
the night before.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
I was like, buddy, we have a dentist appointment tomorrow,
and do you know what's really cool about the dentist.
They always have a treasure chest.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
So if you're a.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Good kid, if you do really well, then you can
get something out of the treasure.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Jo have any cavities exactly?

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Well, I told him that, and then I've never been
to I've been to this dentist, but I did not
see a treasure chest. And I didn't know if they
had one.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Yeah, you're clearly not a child anymore, right, And I
assumed they had one.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
So I had told him that and then he asked
me about it on the way to the dynasty.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
He's like, so they have a treasure chest. I'm like.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
They should, and I'm like, the please Lord, let them
have a treasure Thank god, they had.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
A treasure chest. Okay, we got a little sticky slap hand.
He was so happy, so

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
