Before we talk about Priceless in your music and the

we have found a listener who is a huge fan
of yours. Name's Don Williams. She's in Houston, Texas, and
you've helped her in more ways you could even imagine.

She left you a message, Adam. This is Don.
Speaker 4 (00:47):

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Do you like I know you, like you're always so busy.
Do you ever stop to think, wow, Like there are
people going through all kinds of stuff and your music
gets them through.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:27):
Absolutely, I mean it's it's it's funny because that's kind
of that has to be the best thing about it, right, Yeah,
it's we do it and we it's kind of selfish
when you're doing it because you're doing it for yourself,
I think at the beginning.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
And then it turns into a thing.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
That can be out into the world that can help
somebody like Dawn or or be inspirational to anyone at all.
Is kind of the whole point. Yeah, it's like beautiful
when you hear that, because you're like wow, because it's
it's a lot of well, the things you do in
your life and music and work or whatever it might be,
can sometimes just be work.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Yeah, but then you think about that instances like that.
Speaker 5 (02:04):
And you're like, wow, this is just kind of mind
blowing that it's it's potential to have an effect on
someone or impacts.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Yeah, it's pretty amazing, true, pretty amazing.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yes it is, And so is this song written by
Benny Blanco for You and murmurin five Adam Lague. You
said this one is either going to make you a
break yet and it made you. It moves like Jagger

Speaker 2 (03:57):
On Coas one three point.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Wake Up with ellen K Hi, this is Tiffany Hattison,
you're listening to the Ellen k Morning Show.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Coach one oh three point five. She ready give it up.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
It's an Adam willbeing takeover. Adam, thank you for being
here in studio. We all remember like where we are
the first time we hear our favorite Moon five song,
or they are like moments in time when you put
music out into the world and I love what you said.
You're so humble about it that you put a lot
of songs out into the world, and you may think
this is great, but then you just wait to see
(04:30):
what does the universe say.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
Yeah, it's kind of not up to me, right, Like,
I feel like I can have really high expectations or
I hopes for music, and I've always loved having songs
that can reach people, right Yeah, So, and they don't
always reach people, you know, they don't like and so
I have to accept the.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Fact that not everything will always reach everybody.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
But when they do reach people and they do inspire
people's that's what it's all about.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
That's what it's all about.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
I was driving over moholland the sun was out. It
was the year that this love came out. My sun
roof is open, my windows are down, and this Love
was just blasting on my Radiaro just sounded so good.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
I'll never forget that moment, and.
Speaker 5 (05:11):
To this day, every time we played at him, she says,
still all those years later, like she still tells the
story the first time I cresting over.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Moh, yeah, because it's like remembering things that's just in
your brain.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Yeah, well, that's really funny about that.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
I love hearing that because I remember when I was
twenty one and we were mixing the album and this
Love we just kept not getting right, and so we
finally went to this guy, Mark Endert, who was a
really amazing producer, and he put this mix together and
God bless him, honestly, like, thank god he did what
he did and thank god it worked and thank god
it came out and he wound up being right. But
(05:45):
I remember when we heard the mix, we had been
so you know when you're so inside of something that
you start to hate it.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5 (05:50):
We I sat with the band and we listened to
the mix and I said to the I had the
very opposite reaction that you had take that one day
in the car and I was just like, well, guys,
blew it.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
We blew it.
Speaker 7 (06:04):
This is it.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
We were done. This will never this will never work next.
Sounds like.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
You really needed to get out of the studio clearly.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Clearly I shouldn't have been in A and R at
that point.
Speaker 10 (06:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
But yeah, so I'm glad, thank god, I thank god
I was wrong. Oh man, Yeah, thank god, you were wrong.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
We love it and here it is.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
This love our Coast one of three point five.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Good morning, Darling.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
It's right, okay, Hi, this is so Richard, right, this
is Adam Levine and you're listening to the number one
morning show, The Ellen and k Morning Show on Coast one,
three point five.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Coast one of three point five. Oh right, Adam Levine
in studio for Adam Lavigne takeover.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Adam.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
You are LA's son, Adam Levine of La and so
there's a rumor that you may or may not be
involved in the Olympics opening ceremony.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Oh wow, I haven't heard about that. I haven't heard.
That's news to me. Okay, all right, and that's not
just poker face, uh huh, yeah, I mean damn. I
remember when the Olympics were in here in nineteen eighty four. Yeah,
I was five.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Oh my god.
Speaker 5 (07:18):
Which makes me young or old depending on how we
were asking. But I remember my dad took me, and
I remember very vaguely. I don't have much memory of it,
but he took me in and put me up on
his shoulders and I watched the Runners run in opening.
So yeah, that's this is like what million years later
and I would love to be part of it, so
cool memory.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
That would be such a full circle moment. Oh my god,
because like.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Wouldn't five year old Adam Levine doesn't even know he's
going to be Adam Levine?
Speaker 5 (07:46):
Right?
Speaker 2 (07:47):
I mean I was technically that I was Adam Levine
back then.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
A right, we are obsessed with Priceless.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
How did you connect with Lisa?
Speaker 7 (07:59):
You know?
Speaker 2 (07:59):
It's funny.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
Priceless was this great song and it you know, as
much as I liked it at the time, I didn't
it was the first song.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
No no, no, no, this isn't bad.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
All right.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
I'm very critical of myself, as you can see I
can tell, but I want everything to be as good
as it can be. And I remember I really liked
I loved the song, but it didn't have that extra
It was almost like it didn't have another literal voice
in it that could kind of give some counterpart to
the song.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
It was just a sweet, fun song, but it needed
like another thing.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
It needed like there to be some sort of communication
between like, I don't know, different thoughts and ideas what
the song felt like needed something, and I got I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
She just kind of made sense, and.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
Her voice and the way she used it on the
song and the things she came up with was just
very kind of brought the song to it. Collaborations are
always only really good unless they're not. They're not great
truly great if they feel tacked on, and this really
like she kind of finished helped finish the song, okay.
And so I always for it to be like that
where someone like adds so much that you can't imagine
(09:03):
the song without it, yea, rather than just adding someone
to it. So she really does feel like a huge
part of the song. So when she came in, I
was like, Okay, this is now. I think that's probably
what pushed it to the top of the list as
far as first singles, because she really kind of made
this a complete statement, which was great. And we love her,
we love we love us, so Lisa.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Yeah, I loved it.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
It's so big and so happy. It's such a it's
such a happy song. It makes me feel like really
happy to my core. Yeah, and it's one of those
kids in your bones me too. Yeah, congrats on that.
We love it, Thank you, and here.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
It is for the first time.

it was worth it. So now you know how I

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Of having you in studio. Adam Vee is taking over
this show, the ollen K Morning Show. Let's talk about
the iHeartRadio Music Festival. Let's yes, So we just announced,
we just dropped the lineup and of course Moon five
is on it. You're no stranger to our festival. This
is one of the best lineups I think we've ever had.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Nice. I love that. I love being a part of that.
It's been a while since we've done it. And then
the album and then the album tour album, it's all coming.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Okay at the same time.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
No, we're doing an.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Album, come say when album.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Yes, they're in the corner in about a month, okay,
in about a month, and then tour in the fall.
All right, so we know priceless, your first single with
Lisa said, is the album kind of go along with
that whole feeling?
Speaker 5 (13:05):
Yeah, you know, the album is songs that are kind
of like priceless a little bit. But I I the
writing process was crazy. I did a lot of kind
of it's kind of a spit of a soul record
and and and kind of getting back to like what
we were. It's definitely not a kind of a pop album. Okay,
I think we did it for we did the pop
(13:25):
music thing for so long like that.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
This was kind of the natural. It is much more organic.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
Took a lot of old soul samples and wrote to that,
spliced those together and did this kind of weird frankenzeiin
kind of like soul strange modern soul record for a
lot of stuff. It's just different as I definitely there
wasn't very much writing things down. That was just going
in there and like making sense of it all and
stream of consciousness. And I really wanted to be like
(13:52):
unwrapped and unpackaged and not super tight and perfect in
any way, and I think and very musical and organic.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
So yeah, it's definitely different and.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
In about a month we get it. Thank you, Adam Levine,
thanks for coming by, Thanks for having me. I'm gonna
play you off with one of my favorites.
