(00:00):
You know when I was little,I used to be terrified of the Santa.
Oh really, yeah, I waspetrified. What was the I don't
know. I just was really scaredof like a really big man in a
bed and he's like nine feet tall. You think about it, it's just
like, I don't know, it'sa weird story. He comes in your
house at night, I know. But then also like when you see him
(00:21):
in the mall and he's like comesit on my lap and you're like,
oh, yeah, that's weird andyour lap. This is freaking weird.
But the Christmas parents very and nowI'm good with him. Yeah that's good.
Are you fraid he's he's afraid ofnutcrackers, and so I am.
I think they're creepy and weird. They look angry for Christmas. I like
all things, and we have weapons. A lot of them have swords.
(00:43):
Like, why that is funny? Are we rolling? And Michelle, it's
so good to see you. Isshe still in here? Yeah? So
Michelle, it took me to sharehis house and she did our holiday flip
on Friday, so you went toher to like pre record it. But
it was super fun and us thelast time I've seen Babbitt. All right,
(01:07):
Dua Lipa is here, Whodini isout? I love the artwork,
the artwork that you picked for itto do a thank you the licking of
the mirror. Yes, And whatdoes that signify to you? I guess
it was, to be honest,it was like a spur of the moment
in while we were doing the shoot. And I think it's just kind of
(01:30):
like it makes sense now because it'slike knowing your worth in the sense of
Houdini and one on one side ithas my name. On the other side
it says Houdini. And I thinkjust like kind of the duality of just
kind of like am I going tostay? Am I going to go?
Are we going to meet? Inthe middle of what is the thing is?
Also, you know, relative tothe meaning of the song. Well,
(01:51):
and I love what you said aboutjust going with the flow and going
with the universe, whether you're goingto stay or you're going to go,
and you say it in your song. Yeah, and this is how you
live your life. Yes, Andyou're so positive all the time, so
this way you don't set yourself upfor expectations or disappointments. Well, I
don't know expectations, I think arejust human so hard to not have expectations.
But I really try and just gowith the flow and just be like,
(02:14):
you know what, if things don'tturn out the way that I thought
they would, it's either just likea really amazing experience or a lesson or
something. So I try and lookat it from that kind of perspective.
We were just talking to a goodfriend of yours, Elton John. Oh
love Elton. He's just the loveliest, right, the loveliest. And he
told us he does not have acell phone. Is that true? Like,
(02:36):
do you guys call her? Text? So a lot of the time
I email, yeah, okay, but I text with his husband, David.
Okay, that's your work. That'smy point of contact when we're always
talking. But it's like that,Yeah, that's fantastic. Well, your
fans are loving Houdini so much? Are you going to tour with it next
(02:58):
year? With the whole album?I will be. I mean I love
touring, so I definitely will betouring, But no plans exactly, Like,
no dates have been set just yet. Yeah. That's very Internet.
I keeps asking you, I know, yeah, sure, Like touring is
such a big part of my life. It's something that I absolutely love,
and it's just always been such abig part of my career. Like I
think I owe a lot of itto the amount of times I've just like
(03:21):
toured and traveled around the world anddone shows. So absolutely, absolutely I'm
looking forward to it as an artistwho has seen so many people and so
many situations all around the world performingand just interacting. What do you think
is the key for the entire worldto just get along? Because when you
travel and you go to far awayplaces, you see we're all alike.
(03:42):
Oh absolutely, I mean I don'thave really the answer of what is the
key to us all getting along.I think all of us may be holding
a little bit of kindness and empathywith each other and understanding that everybody's going
through different things in their life, and that you can never really judge or
expect or you know, project intoother people because you never really know what's
(04:04):
happening in their personal life, andthe same that they won't really know what's
happening in yours. So I thinkjust leading life with a bit of gentleness
is is always is always good. That was a real miss USA question.
Sorry to put you on the spotlike no, but that was a great
answer. It's a great answer too. I mean it really is. It's
(04:26):
you don't have I don't know thatyou have to be a touring musician to
feel that too. It's you justtook a flight this weekend and you saw
an act of kindness on the flight, right, and it's like, yeah,
you definitely don't need to be atouring musician. Yeah, Like we
see these things every day to remindourselves like, Okay, it's just this,
it's just this simple yeah. Yeah, so true. So when you're
when you're writing music, you're thinkingof music, do you dream in music?
(04:49):
Do you ever like wake up like, ah, I have to write
this down? When does it cometo you? Like a lot of the
times, like when I'm traveling ora lot of things that come to me
are in movement, like on aplane or in a car or I don't
know, walking or I don't know, just in moments like that, Like
(05:10):
sometimes I'd get like ideas in theshower or whatever, but when I'm sleeping,
like I am, I'm dead.Basically I want to play you where
Barry Manilow, who's a notorious Imean just one of the greatest songwriters.
What he told us where his inspirationhits. I want to come up with
some of my best ideas either whenI'm sleeping or when I'm peeing. So
(05:36):
in sleeping, yeah, I don'tknow, Like sometimes when you like a
lot of the time, if I'mrestless before I sleep, like I do
a lot of my overthinking before then, like if I can't sleep, But
when I'm asleep, I'm like,I'm I'm out. That's good. Good
for you, Good for you thatyou can catch your z's. So obviously
we're here with the official Holiday MusicStation. We're going to Disneyland to day
(05:59):
if you'd like to along. We'regoing to run around the park and capture
all the you know, like allthis social media. And a friend of
mine, I told him you werecoming in and he likes to make graphics,
so he made this for you. This is hold on one second,
this is just for you. It'sdo aali a Land. Whoa. I
(06:23):
love that. Yeah, I'm sointo that. He said, we're doing
a leap a Land. It soundsso much like Disneyland. Yeah, but
but we are in holiday music now, and we know you love the holidy
shod your merch line that came out. Yes, what's your favorite holiday memory
as a kid? And we knowthat you were afraid of Santa at one
(06:45):
point, but do you have anyYeah, I think I actually have a
photo like of I think like it'sa picture of me right next to sundown.
I'm just like bowling my eyes outholding a bell. I was like,
this is horrible, but actually, like I think for me that the
best holiday memories are just being withmy family. Yeah, I think that
(07:06):
that is. That is it?Like I can't really like pinpoint it on
a on a singular thing. It'sthe thing that I look forward to the
most is just being my family ormy friends or whoever. It's just that
closeness, that quality time that Ilove the most. Do you have like
a traditional food that is always servedwhen you're all around a table during the
holidays? Yeah? I do thecooking, Oh you do really? Yeah?
(07:30):
I love to cook, but Iwould just do like a roast turkey
with I don't know, duck fatpotatoes, just lots of roasted veggies and
stuffing. And we do do cauliflowercheese's oh that thing which is doing me
very delish. But yeah, doesElton come around for holiday dinners. Elton
(07:54):
hasn't come around for Christmas, notyet, maybe soon soon. So well,
Houdini's out. The world went bonkersonline when you dropped this. They
want more. They're asking you allkinds of questions and I know that you're
used to this by now, butwhat is your what is your family saying?
(08:15):
Like, I'm a mother, Ihave a son who's twenty one,
and when he does something, I'mjust so proud. I cry yeah and
we know and it's something great. Is how does your family react to all
your fame? And it's just it'sit's the best, Like I don't know,
just so supportive and excited, andthey're they're with me, like up
until the countdown, Like we wentout together to have drinks on the night
(08:37):
that my video was coming and mysong which was coming out eleven pm,
like London time, so we decidedwe were all going to go out and
we were watching like the YouTube countdownand just being like the loudest fun.
It was just so much fun wehad. We had such a great,
great time. But they're they're superproud, and it's it's great to get
to share these moments with my family. It gives me goosebumps. Thank you
