Speaker 1 (00:00):
We love you, La and in south landon thank you
Core having us on. It's a talkback Tuesday. How fun
is it that we have a technology where you can
go to the iHeartRadio app, press a microphone and you're
in our studio just like that instantly. So we want
to hear from you talk Back Tuesday. Use that mic
(00:21):
if thirty seconds, but you can use.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
It again and again. If you have more to say,
just go give us four in a row. It's up
to your melan kay. I'm ryan man, I have pretty
some of my problems.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
I'll be some together there you go. You know what
I mean.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
You guys, think about this. Think about what we were
waking up to at this time last week. It was
a completely different situation, totally different city. None of this
had occurred yet.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
We didn't see it coming. Yep, unreal, yep. Ten two
I do believe is when it started. You know, the
ATF is on the scene in the Palisades and the
Highlands and they've closed off and blockaded this huge investigation
area to find out the cause of the fire. There
are some clues that they're looking at, and I think
(01:06):
we might get an announcement today. There's going to be
a big press conference this morning at seven.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
So the led Times put out a report saying that
on New Year's Day, there were some fireworks into Panga
Canyon and they put that out right away, but they
said that even up to a week later, that heat
gets trapped in trees and can reignite. So they're looking
at maybe those New Year's fireworks as a potential cause.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Yeah, a friend of ours had her home destroyed in
the Palisades and she also heard fireworks even closer to
the time of the fire. And she lived right on
the lip of a canyon and that's where another flame ignited.
So we're going to get more information today and everyone's
coming together. This is the whole world is supporting you know.
(01:51):
Way to go, Rams, Thank you. Rachel Platten on stage
giving an emotional fight song performance at the game last
night in Arizona and fels good knowing that we're not
We're not fighting this fight alone.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
We're all together.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
There's a woman named Victoria DeSantis and Altadena firefighters sipped
it through her ashes and found.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Her wedding ring no way.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Yes, her home of twenty years had been reduced to debris.
A firefighter was sipping and searching through the wreckage uncovering
her wedding band and it was untouched by the fire.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
That's crazy, How cool.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
What a great story of hope.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
I think it's symbolic too, of things to come as
we you know, we band together and you know at
our city back.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
I was talking with our friend friend Clint over at
the Dream Center the other day and he was telling me.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Part of what they do too is ash outs. It's
that's what they call them.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
And they take the wheelbarrows and these like screens and
go into these homes and shovel just the ashes into
the screens and just sift and all of these things,
like the wedding ring just just magically, you know, are salvaged.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
All these things were learning that we didn't ever you know,
think about it for or know about. All Right, well,
let's make it a talk back Tuesday. A lovely day.
Speaker 5 (03:08):

The Recording Atomy had discussed postponing the Grammys February second,
but they're going to go ahead and do it. One
hundred musicians lost their homes in the Palisades wildfire, so
this will be a benefit concert planned two nights before
the Grammys. The lineup has not been named, but it's

Taylor Swift filled out handwritten notes and one hundred thousand
dollars for so many of her crew members on her
Eras tour. There's this employee named Robert. He shared a
photo of her handwritten note, Robert, thank you for your
superb work on the US leg of the Eras Tour.

Throughout the two year tour, Taylor Swift gave out one
hundred and ninety seven million dollars in bonuses to everyone
on her team, from dancers and backup singers to truck
drivers and more. And what about this Jimmy Kimmel taking
the stage again last night, back to a show.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
It was emotional.
Speaker 9 (05:33):
Everyone who lives in the city knows someone most of us,
multiple people, families, friends, colleagues, neighbors whose house is burned down,
And the truth is we don't even know if it's over.
We had one hundred mile per hour winds fueling this
night mare. As of tonight, their wins are back. I
think I speak for all of us when I say
it has been sickening, shocking, awful experience, but has also
(05:58):
been in a lot of ways of beautiful experience because
once again we see our fellow men and women coming
together to support each other.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Yeah, Jimmy, it was a great show and a lot
of thank you, a lot of gratefulness, and a lot

Speaker 1 (09:13):
One suit claims there is quote clear evidence from video footage.
Another alleges that see failed to comply with safety standards
and failing to maintain power lines in your overgrown vegetation.
Edison will not comment until after the investigation. And speaking
of investigations, the La Times publisher report suggesting authorities are
looking into fireworks is the cause of the Palisade fire
(09:34):
in the Highlands and the Palisades. The ATF is there.
But here's lap the Assistant Chief, Dominic Choi.
Speaker 15 (09:40):

Speaker 1 (17:53):
Oh, okay, that would be so that's a rough one,
but you know it could be there.
Speaker 8 (18:00):
They call them mom they call them kids' names, they
call them dog's names.
Speaker 10 (18:03):
It doesn't have to be another girl.

Residents and first responders bracing for another round of ferocious
Santa Ana wins today. They are happening, and we do
have a red flag warning in effect. It's going to
go all the way through tomorrow as well. Fifteen thousand
firefighters are here, forty four helicopter six water tenders doing
their thing. We are not in the clear and we
must not let our guard down. According to Christian Crowley,
(22:52):
the chief of LAFD, so we are following your orders.
Dangerous wins are returning today though, and Vivan Spiegel, who
is the CEO of Snap, has written a love letter
Los Angeles. He says, Dear Los Angeles, I love you.
I grew up in Pacific Palisades. I covered street after
street on my Razor scooter. He goes on to say
that he's giving five million dollars to the firefighting efforts,
(23:16):
and also the snap parking lot is staging most of
the firefighters right there. He says, Los Angeles, you have
my heart. You will have our time, our resources and
our help. Somehow the world keeps turning and there's a
lot of work to be done.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
That was sweet.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
Also, what about this the Rams giving us so much
needed joy last night with a huge wild card win
over the Vikings. They got it done in Arizona after
being moved from Sofar. Tons of fan buses were there
here from La. Quarterback Matthew Stafford said, it was a
very meaningful victory.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
We just know what's going on back home.
Speaker 10 (23:49):
You know, felt really motivated to play for the people
of the city.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
You know, it's been all of a week. So we're
happy to come out with a win.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Thank you, Rams, thank you so much. We needed that.
We also needed you. Rachel Platton performing right before the game.
This song write song.
Speaker 5 (24:07):

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Word can make a hard open.
Speaker 19 (24:23):
I might only have one match, but I can make
any exposion.
Speaker 5 (24:29):

Hi, I'm producer Mike Romos, and we are loving your
stories of helpers. Victoria DeSantis shout out to you. She
had seconds to evacuate her Alta Dina home when they
eat and fire erupted. She had the chance to go
back to the ashes when it was safe to do so,
and a firefighter searched through the wreckage and uncovered her
(25:38):
her wedding ring untouched by the fire. Oh man, the
sock guy, thank you for coming to the rescue. Michael
desock Guy donating socks to thousands and also the Rusties

help the community every day, but they're stepping up to

Speaker 4 (26:01):
Yeah, it's pretty incredible too to see all of the
tents in the parking lot at the Rose Bowl right now,
there's tents, people sleeping in tents, and McDonald's is showing up.
I didn't know they had this until today.
Speaker 2 (26:11):

That's amazing, solid mcrig.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
I love that we're in a PDS particularly dangerous situation
where we're learning so many new words and phrases and
things about fires. And my mother in law's been calling
a lot, and I know that you know you're listening.
You've probably had the same thing. You're out of town,
friends and family call are you okay? She knew we
had to evacuate, so we've been talking a lot. And
(26:47):
she sees the old footage and maybe thinks it might
be the Kurt footage like it's live. And she said,
please explain to me what it means to jump the
four h five. So I told her, I said, they're
trying to keep the flames back so that the flames
don't jump the four or five.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
So when you hear that choice, that's what it is. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
I have a lot of friends who have now downloaded
watch duty, and they've never heard the term red flag warning.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Oh okay.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
To them, that is like, oh, you're in the red
flag warning zone, and it's like, well, you know you
have to do a little handholding.

For the past week, our Los Angeles region has been
ravaged by catastrophic wildfires. Over one hundred and fifty thousand
people have been evacuated, Our friends and our neighbors have
lost homes, and entire communities have been devastated, and there's still.
Speaker 3 (40:42):
More work to do.
Speaker 15 (40:44):
The courage and bravery of our firefighters and our first
responders prove that real life heroes live among us.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
But I believe in the people of Los Angeles. We
are strong. We will not be defined by this devastation.
Speaker 15 (41:03):
We will rebuild LA hand in hand together for as
long as it takes, and whatever it takes, we will
build it together.

Speaker 14 (42:44):
So Tuesday morning, we dropped with a kids like a
normal day. I got a call around eleven o'clock from
the principal saying that the kids are being evacuated because
there's a close a fire close by. I actually work
in the area, so I don't live in the area,
and I went to pick up my three kids that
(43:07):
attend Policies Charter Elementary. It was a nightmare, as you
can imagine, going up sunset, everyone in the area is
trying to pick up their kids, trying to get to
their home. I bought I parked up a couple of
blocks away to try to get into the area because
it was still congested, and I picked them up. We
(43:31):
didn't think that it was going to get to you
know where we are now left school thinking that they
were going to be able to come back the next
day or in a couple of days once the fire
was cleared up. Most of the families in the area
or that attend the school lost their home, lost the school.
(43:52):
So we're just trying to, you know, the school community,
trying to help the families that lost everything from my
clothing to financially. The kids are being temporarily placed at
a nearby LAUSD school, So we're just doing as much
(44:13):
as we can to support everyone, help rebuild our school.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
Yeah, Diana, thank you so much for reaching out to us,
because this is what we're here for.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
We just want to help the helpers help.
Speaker 14 (44:27):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
I'm good to go find me.
