Speaker 1 (00:05):
Good morning, I'm producer Mike Romos. All Right, you guys,
it is it's a day of spinach. Spinach day. So
did you know spinach is just a mistake?
Speaker 4 (00:13):
Was it really?
Speaker 1 (00:14):
I mean, it's not a mistake. It's a great I
love spinach. I made the Megan Marko one pot spaghetti
and I used spinach in it. Brought some. We're gonna
sample it later in the show. I just want to
watch your faces as you eat it. But pop by
eating spinach because it has a lot of iron. In
eighteen seventy, a nutritional study of spinach misstated it's iron
(00:36):
content as being ten times the real number. They put
the decimal in the wrong place, So then everybody believes
that spinach is full of iron.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
And it's not.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
It's not what it says it is. Yeah, huh, it's
spin notch.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
Spinch them.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
And originally he was gonna eat carrots. Who was crazy deep,
way too deep.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Bugs Bunny said, oh no, you didn't.

All Right, Kim Kardashian will relive her pair of robbery
when she takes the stand at the trial of a
Parisian underground gang A let you have been behind it.
She will go to the robbery trial in France in May,
and she will testify on the stand at a jury trial.
As you remember, she was the target of a twenty
sixteen jewelry heist that saw her bounding gagged at gunpoint.
This happened while I was we were just beginning the show,
(01:54):
and Chris Jenner texted us that morning really early, because
I said, Chris, can you come on the air. But
she had to get to Kim and she's like, I'm
at the airport. You know, we'll talk later. I can't
really talk about it anyway, but now Kim will she'll
be on the stand. French officials investigate the case for
five years before finally ordering the case to trial, and
(02:16):
that happened four years ago. Now the trial finally set
to start in May, a decade after the incident. Will
Smith was asked if he's going to try to appeal
his oscar Ban and he said this.
Speaker 7 (02:27):
I am looking to be the best human I can
possibly be, and I'm gonna take what I get with that.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
All right, He's banned from the Oscars for ten years,
so we'll just doing a thing. I just saw this
on Instagram. Someone who lives in Miami was filming out
their window and they're like, just another day watching Will
Smith film from my apartment window. He was an action movie.
He was running alongside a big black suv like he
was really running fast. He's in great shape.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Have you ever seen a movie being filmed like out
a window or anything else?
Speaker 8 (03:01):
Have you?
Speaker 1 (03:02):
It's really fun.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
I saw The Dark Knight. Yeah, they filmed it in Chicagogo.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Yeah, pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
I saw are we getting part of the ship scene?
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Really?
Speaker 1 (03:10):
That was cool.
Speaker 9 (03:11):
I remember when I was in high school they were filming.
Jim Carrey was in that Doctor Seuss movie. Yeah, and
the part of town that I grew up in Pomona
Downtown was transformed into way. Yeah, there's still some remnants
around there, but it was so cool to just like
see it all.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Sue, Yeah cool.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
I grew up in the bad neighborhood, so I saw
a lot of action outside, but it.
Speaker 7 (03:35):
Was it was a.

Speaker 2 (04:24):

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Yeah, there's a big little problem festering right now in
our south Land, might even be in your.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
Backyard, A big little problem.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Yeah, mosquitoes, you guys. And listen to this though.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
There's a new story out this morning that says, in
the cleanup from the fires, a lot of pools, like
two thousand pools have been left unattended and these are
just brimming right now with mosquito larvae, so they're gonna spread.
It's going to be our worst mosquito season we've ever
had spring and summer. So no good for that, I know,
but look, look ellen, the problems call for solutions yes,
(06:14):
and I'm tagging in our very own social queen Darlene,
who sent us a very excited message last night she
found a hack.
Speaker 9 (06:19):
Okay, I was trying to find things again. My kids
are on spring break. I'm trying to be proactive and
try to be a good parent and do fun things.
So I was looking up how to make spring cleaning fun,
and then I came across you know when you go
to like home depot or a market and you see
the Tikisa trnella torch fuel.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yes, check this out.
Speaker 9 (06:39):
Add that at that mix it with your pine soul
or whatever you use to clean your floors so that
it has it in your floors and repels the bugs
from your living area.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
That is such a genius.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Isn't that great? You can add it to surface sprays too,
so your countertops, and yeah.
Speaker 9 (06:57):
I thought like, okay, we're totally doing that. And then
just to tack on to the parents listening that are
trying to keep their kids busy and make spring cleaning fun,
make a fun music playlist, because that, you know, could
spice it up. But also write all the chores on
little pieces of paper, mix them in a bowl and
have them pick one at a time, like make it fun,
take a five minute break, give puppy kisses, maybe a
(07:20):
fun one like I know this is not fun, but
you're almost there. Do your room and you know, just
make it fun.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Yeah. My oldest brother used to have to do the dishes.
He was like the pots and pants guy, and he
would say, everybody, line up, because there's six of us,
grab a pan, clean it, and then you can be
in my band. And we would have the pot and
pan band. So we would have to clean our pot
if we wanted to be in the band, and then
we would all follow him banging on our pot. That
(07:50):
it was a big manipulation, like dars trying to do. Yes,
I am well, I got something else to make you
feel good and happy for dog.
Speaker 3 (08:02):

Speaker 1 (11:15):
All right, Pablo and Jenny are in love, but his
ex is not having it. That's your letters to Ellen.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Right to Ellen for advice, because she's seen a thing
or two.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
She is Ellen. All right, Dear Ellen, I really need
help with my boyfriend Pablo and his three kids. I
care about him so much, and things between us feel
so good, but there's a wall I can't get past.
His ex wife refuses to let me meet his kids
unless we're engaged, and he has three of them. I
(11:48):
understand wanting to protect them, but how can I possibly
commit to a future with someone when I haven't even
met such a huge part of his life. I want
to say how Pablo is his a father, how his
kids are around him and around me? What if they
don't like me? What if I don't know how to
fit into their world? Pablo says he understand, but I
can tell it's hard for him too. He's torn between
(12:09):
wanting me in his life and keeping the peace with
his ex am I being unreasonable for wanting to meet
his three kids first. I'm scared if I push too hard,
I'll lose him. But if I don't, I'll be walking
into something I don't know i'm ready for. Thanks for
your help, Jenny, Well that's to me. It's just screaming.
This ex isn't over Pablo, and she's gonna knock down
(12:33):
every woman that comes along because she's gonna say, Nope,
can't meet the kids unless you get serious and get engaged,
knowing that that's a huge mountain to climb.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Of course, you have to meet the kids before you
get engaged. You have to.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
So Pablo needs to sit down his ex and say, look,
you know we're not together anymore. Kids come first. I'm
not going to do anything unreasonable, but you're gonna have
someone in your life eventually. I have someone in my
life now. Can't we just all do this together and
cooperate and be adults about it.
Speaker 9 (13:07):
There's so many questions because like how old are the
kids right? And how long have they been broken up?
Speaker 2 (13:12):
And are they nightmares? I think, yeah, remember the problem
child River? Yes, Oh my god, the problem child too.
There were two of them. There was Tricksy.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
You gotta know if you're dealing with a junior and
a Tricksy, these kids could just be terrors.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
She definitely needs to either get out, Jenny, or get
in all the way in somehow because you don't know.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
I would say it even applies to pets, like you
have to meet the dog to know if you get
along with the dog.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
I mean, this is a this has to happen.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
If you're getting blend, you have to be compatible all right, Jenny,
We're gonna take calls for you. But I I really
I don't know. I don't know that unless Pablo and
inner fiends, I don't know that there's.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
So does Pablo well, no, that that could be a problem.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
I was gonna say, does he do it on the
side and not even tell his ex wife? But then
you're putting the kids, I know, because then the kids
will probably say, hey, I met.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
And they will Yeah, kids say it, and you don't
want them to lie, you know, you want them to
feel free and good. But yeah, they would be the
first one to say, you know, Dad said, I'm not
supposed to tell, but I met Jenny. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (14:26):
If this is my sister, I'm telling her just go yeah,
try again.
Speaker 1 (14:30):

to do is be the first caller with the right
answer to our question here. It is seventy five percent
of adults have done this without their partner. What is that?
(15:24):
Seventy five percent of all adults have done this without
their partner? Say one hundred and ninety nine kost what
is it?
Speaker 7 (15:33):
Right?
Speaker 2 (15:33):
I can't say because I feel like it'll give it away.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Oh okay, all right, Yeah, I just I got no hints. No,

Going to a concert pretty common thing to do. Great
guess not the right answer. Oh okay, sorry, busy mommy,
have a good day.
Speaker 10 (16:29):
All right, you two, thanks so much.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Bye bye. It's good Alicia la County Clerk and Rosemead, Hi, Hi,
how are you?
Speaker 4 (16:36):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (16:36):
We're doing great? Do you have a partner?
Speaker 10 (16:39):
I do?
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Okay, So what's your guess? Three out of four, seventy
five percent of us have done it without our partner.
Speaker 8 (16:46):
I just said, go have drinks with friends without them?
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (16:50):
Huh?
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Do you stay out super late.
Speaker 8 (16:53):
If it's a special occasion.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Does your partner wait up for you and ask questions later?
Speaker 8 (16:58):
He does it, but he will me the next day.
What tended to get home?
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Oh? So he doesn't even know when you saunter in?
Speaker 8 (17:05):
No, he just sleeps.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Does he do the same thing? Does he go out
with his guys?
Speaker 1 (17:11):
He goes to shows like live music?
Speaker 8 (17:13):
Okay, and he goes to shows, and then I'm usually
up because I'm you know, going to bed late. But
if I go to sleep, I'll ask him the same thing.
Speaker 10 (17:21):
What time did you get home?
Speaker 1 (17:22):
All right? How often do you got drinking with the girls?
Speaker 8 (17:25):
I try to do about once a month?
Speaker 1 (17:27):
All right, yeah, I stay in touch with your friends,
great guests, go out for a drink. It is not
the right answer.
Speaker 8 (17:35):
Yeah, okay, all right.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Try again. Alicia, Ileana, fifth grade, Hi Iliana, five, Hello Iliana,
So we got the L and KQ and A. You
were in fifth grade. You were at Lashawn Academy. Then nice,
and you have a guess vacation vacation. Have your parents
had separate vacations before?
Speaker 10 (17:58):
Well, yeah, actually that's it's true.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Oh okay, all right, yeah, like my brothers all go
fishing with their buddies. They do like little vacations, camping, fishing, whatever.
I've never been on a vacation without my partner. Well, Ileana,
you are a very smart girl. You are right. Yes,
it's vacation. Yeah, Katie Barry, it's vacation. Seventy five percent
(18:27):
of adults have done it without their partner. Maybe it's
a like a girl's weekend trip or a guy's buddy trip,
guys in Vegas, girls in Vegas, whatever it is.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
Maybe it's a solo trip to Tulum like our listener
Mammy last week, which you thought was criminal, but now
we're celebrating.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Everyone does it that what's happening? That was different? Wow?
Go so clear his head? So what? But that wasn't
a vacation. That was like, I'm leaving, I need to
get away from all of you, and I'm going to
Tuloom alone. See. I think it's different if you, okay,
vacation by yourself somewhere, to me, that's suspicious. So okay,
(19:06):
if you go with your with your guys or your girls,
not as suspicious, but there still could be something suspicious
in there.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
All right, it's the lank Morning show me. It's so
good this morning. Thanks past five.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
And hear your top stories at the top of the hour.
Who doesn't love a coupon, especially digital ones delivered right
to your grocery store apps so simple. Well, there's one
city that says no more not here. In that San Diego,
they became the first US city to ban digital only coupons.
Official say stores must offer equal access to discounts for
all shoppers, So now markets will provide those same savings
(19:47):
in store. They say, the ruling allows us without a
phone or internet to unlock deals like everybody else. Okay,
what about this? USC has chosen their man. Their Marshall
School of Business welcome Soup Dog as their twenty twenty
five commencement speaker. The legend and entrepreneur will address the
class of twenty twenty five at the Coliseum. Way to
(20:07):
Go and Krispy Kreme giving out free donuts for a's
on student report cards in a national program. It's been
around for twenty five years, but Krispy Kreme says people
just forget about it. You can bring in your report card,
it has to be a current report card, and there's
a limit of six free treats. So if you're super
smart you have more than six a's, you can only
(20:28):
get six donuts. I think if you have more than
six a's, you deserve a piece of a company. And
what about this Dodgers wrapped in spring training last night,
and Anna, I'm with a four to one win over
the Angels. Will Smith, Will Smith going deep in the
dub dustin May masterful on the mound and will you
be there? Of course, we have your tickets this morning,
so again listen for Benda Win. When you hear them qualify,
(20:50):
we're gonna pull the winner at nine to ten. All right,
we're your only radio hookup to be there. And today
we are cooling way down. We get highs around seventy five,
little bit of drizzle in some areas, and then tomorrow
it's gonna be perfect baseball weather. We're gonna have highs
in the sixties. Right now, it's fifty five in Burbank
and we run on Celsia's Energy drinks. This is KOs

Dear Ellen, is from Jenny. I really need help with
my boyfriend Pablo and his three kids. I care about
him so much. Things between us feel real, but I
can't seem to get past his ex wife. She refuses
to let me meet his children unless we're engaged. She
wants to protect them. I understand, but how can I
commit to a future with someone when I haven't even
(21:52):
met such a huge part of his life. What if
they don't like me? What if I don't know how
to fit into their world? Pablo says, you understand, but
it's hard for him too. He's torn between wanting me
in his life and keeping the peace with his ex.
All right, Jenny, so thanks for that letter. This is
a very very common situation. We're finding a lot of
(22:13):
calls all morning, and Laura, thank you for coming on
with us. So you heard the letter to Ellen, you
have a solution.
Speaker 8 (22:22):
Why don't I just pretend that they're engaged?
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Pretend they're engaged with though I feel like if you
even bend the truth a little bit, you're still involving
the kids, and you're like, you're showing them it's okay
to lie.
Speaker 8 (22:35):
Well, they don't know. The thing is, this is where
you really know if he really cares about you, because
if this person, if you're both For example, me, I
have two kids and I meet somebody and Dad is
like putting up barriers, then maybe I'm still hung up
on day Dad and I don't want to let him go.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
That's what Ellen thought.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
Yeah, that's what I think too. I think she's just
trying to about any other woman from coming into his life.
But also, you know, these are her babies, and I
think she doesn't want any other woman around her kids.
Speaker 8 (23:04):
But what was what if the shoes she was on
the other foot. You know what happens when she bids
somebody and he's you know, he's going to be miserable
all of his life because she doesn't want a woman
to come into Nobody's ever going to measure up to her, nobody.
And I think that's what her problem is. She thinks
that somebody's going to come in and it's going to
make make her, uh, makes the kids feel special, maybe
(23:28):
give them gifts that she can't do. I think that's
what she's afraid of.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
She's afraid of being replaced as mommy.
Speaker 8 (23:34):
Yeah, but I trust me, you will never be replaced
by the way, Ellen. My kids love you. They're in
the car. They my kids now now, they're shy. Every
day they're like, I want to listen to Eli Kay
every morning. They really love Ryan Darling. All of you
guys are amazing.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
Thank you, Laura, Thanks and thanks kids. All right, yeah,
so what do you do? I just think that there
should be more togetherness on this one. No blocking, the blocking,
there's something behind the blocking.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
And does does Jenny want a future where it's already
difficult with this X think about how hard that is
to co parent and blend and share and all of that.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
All right, Well, you know what they say, you got
to fight for your right po Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:22):

the hour.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
Good morning, I'm ellen K. And as the cleanup continues
following our devastating wildfires, there's a new problem popping up
in the Eaton fire zone, and that's mosquitoes, lots of them.
Official will say. There are roughly fifteen hundred pools that
have been left unattended and all that still standing water
is a big time breeding ground. Up to three million
skeeters can grow in a single pool and span of
(30:15):
a month. Because many residents cannot return. The SGV a
vector control District is ramping up patrols to try to
control that population. Okay, what about this. If you're keeping
a mental list of all the sources of microplastics we
have to deal with finding our wind our daily life,
you have another culprit to consider, and it's chewing gum.
(30:35):
According to a brand new pilot's study that found chewing
a just one piece can release hundreds to thousands of
microplastics into saliva. The study is currently being reviewed and
will be presented at the biannual meeting of the American
Chemical Society in San Diego. Once that review is complete,
the authors hope the report will be published as well,
and they say their goal is not to alarm anybody,
(30:56):
but just to keep us all aware and that when
we chew them, we might be chewing micro plastics. And
after two days of heat, we're cooling way down. Highs
around seventy five. Bigger drop coming tomorrow. We're staying in
the sixties through the weekend. That is perfect baseball weather
and we are qualifying you to go to well opening

Her boyfriend Pablo has three kids, but she can't meet
them unless she gets engaged to Pablo. The ex wife
is saying, Nope, sorry, I'm not going to let my
kids meet you unless he's serious about you and puts
a ring on it. Anyway, She's like, how can I
get a ring on it if I don't know your kids.
That's like a major part of your life. And Anna
(36:10):
you say you can relate. Thank you for calling. What
is your story?
Speaker 8 (36:14):
My husband came into an instant family. I had three
children when I met him.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Oh, so you have great experience of this, so so
tell us when did you let the kids meet your
now husband?
Speaker 8 (36:25):
Well, actually he was the baseball coach of one of
my sons, so I would go to practice and that's
how we met.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
Well, that's cool. And then did he treat your kids
more special than the others?
Speaker 8 (36:41):
He tried not to hard to do, I'm sure, but
you could see that he.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
Was, Oh that's so great. Oh well, I'm you found
happiness and love.

post did the recipe and the reviews. But as a group,
what do we think of it?
Speaker 2 (38:06):
Excellent?
Speaker 1 (38:07):
Good? I like it. I think you didn't make enough.
I'm like waiting for more. Yeah, I think I should
have used probably more tomatoes, more of the greens, and
maybe put some protein in there, like some grilled chicken
or a shrimp or something like that. But it's pretty good.
It's easy. It's a lot of prep time. There's a
lot of prep. It says five minutes prep time. It's
(38:28):
such a lie.
Speaker 9 (38:29):
Is it true that you just do one pot everything?
Like you use the leftover water too?
Speaker 1 (38:34):
It is one pot. What I did was I boiled
the water in my tea kettle and they used and
use that to pour over all this stuff. And you'll
see it all in our socials. Uh so look out
for that. If you want that recipe, Ryan, your mother
already has it. I DMed it too, or ask me
all about it. So it's good, I would say, we
would give it like a I would give it an
(38:56):
eight out of ten.
Speaker 4 (38:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Same, Yeah, I'm going I don't know. This is for me.
