Speaker 1 (06:38):
Okay? Yeah, okay, well listen.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
According to a new study, we're not doing it nearly enough.
Science has found that the average American needs, not craves,
needs sixty lazy days a year. Really, we require them
to continue to function.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Sixty that's two months worth.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Yeah, yeah, two months.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
And science says it's it's it's required at this pace
that we live currently, we need this to reset and
you know, retool ourselves and don't feel guilty about it.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
It's science.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Are we supposed to sprinkle them in or take them
back to back?

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Will you do what you want with them? But you
can do them all all in a row?

Speaker 7 (07:16):
Past one o three point five The llen k Morning Show,

Love really did produce a lot of love out of
the Olympics. Will tell you. How many engagements happen in
Paris over the Games is an all time high. Also,

(07:44):
it's called nomophobia.

We also got the Golden men's basketball, women's basketball, US
women's soccer their first Olympic gold medal in twelve years.
Also good and in the City of Love Paris, seven
Olympic athlete engagements in all time high. Pretty cool. Lebron

(08:18):
James going to an after party at the nightclub. He's
walking up to the door. He's kind of dancing a
little bit, and there was a young French boy who
just really really really wanted his autograph. Lebron put his
hand up and this happened.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
Don't do that.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Oh wow, So he denied the fan that autograph. A
forty foot fin whale washed ashore this weekend on Torrents
Beach and sadly was not able to be revived. Officials
believe it was a juvenile who was likely caught in
a net or struck by a ship. The removal process
has begun. Also, Mars and Jupiter are getting real cozy
in the night sky. This week their closest rendezvous in

(08:54):
centuries from our vantage point, they'll be so close that
the Moon can barely fit between them. In reality, they're
three hundred and fifty million miles apart. The closest they've
ever come until now is way back in seventeen sixty
one when they appeared to astronomers as one big super planet.
It won't happen again until you're twenty three forty eight.

(09:14):
And also keep your eyes cles, skies. The Percied meteor
shower is happening until the end of the month and
it's back to school. Back to heat. Tempts are climbing
up to ninety five for the valleys in Ie. We
may even touch triple digits by Thursday. Pacoima ninety Pomon
nine ninety five for your highs and LAUSD Superintendent Alberto
Carvallo is coming on with us and just a little bit.

know for this first day back to school, and we
run on Salesa's energy during this COOSG Los Angeles Coast

Speaker 7 (09:55):
The l ENK Morning Show on Coast one oh three
point five Back.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
To school and thank you for having us on. Were
the only K morning show Coast one of three point
five LAUSD six hundred thousand students and the award winning
LAUSD superintendent. He puts a super and Superintendent Alberto Carvallo
on with us. All right, now, we know you have
a busy day, Alberto, what do you want us all

(10:20):
to know? Give us your top three?

Speaker 12 (10:24):
Sure so number one at tenants is key. Attendance on
day one is critically important. When I first arrived in
Los Angeles, quantic aps and theism rates were upwards of
fifty percent. We've done great work in collaboration with principles,
with teachers, with counselors, in knocking on doors. In fact,
two days ago I was knocking on doors with my team.

(10:47):
We knocked on thirty four thousand doors, and our average
daily attendants is now back to pre pandemic levels, which
is great. Quanic aps andiism has decreased by thirty four percent,
which is a ma and parents ought to know that
no matter how great our teachers are, they cannot teach
the apbsent child right. So attendance is important. Secondly, schools

(11:11):
are safe places. This is where we screen, diagnose, accelerate,
remediate not only academically speaking, but also social and emotionally
speaking as well as mental health. So we have the
resources parents bring us your child. Let us know what's
going on in your child's life. We have great wellness

(11:32):
anders and clinics. We have medically trained professionals. We have nurses,
psychiatric social workers to address the whole child. The next
thing is this year we are launching universal transportation for
all at no costs, even if you are half a
mile away from the school.

Speaker 5 (11:51):
Let us know.

Speaker 12 (11:52):
Sometimes it is the crossing of that one roadway that
presents a danger on rainy days. I know, kids stay
home home, we can transport to child. And then the
last thing, look, we are a great school system. Free breakfast,
free lunch for every single student every single day, and
in many cases even a free supper with full nutritious

(12:15):
healthy options that reflect you know, the color and the
flare of our community. Things like chickpe masala and beef
Bivia tacos. You know, come and get in our cafeterias.
I promise you it's gonna be great. It's gonna be taste.
You're gonna have some great fun.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
I want to go to school.

Speaker 8 (12:35):
I'm there.

Speaker 12 (12:38):
We'll tek you.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
You know.

Speaker 12 (12:39):
Actually, one of our points of pride is the fact
that in just one year and a half, we have
doubled our adult education enrollment from a little over thirty
thousand to over seventy thousand. We now have twenty five
thousand people registered on a waiting list. I want to
get to one hundred thousand. We want to be the

(13:00):
preeminent workforce trainers in this community.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
We're so happy that we can put the word out
there for you. Alberto Carvallo Award winning la USD Superintendent,
congratulations on all of this and a great first day
of school. May they only get better as each day
goes on.

Speaker 12 (13:19):
Absolutely, thank you so much for the opportunity. And a
quick message to our remarkable teachers, our support staff, our principles,
our parents, our students. We are ready. And what I
tell my staff is over half a million kids going
to show up at our schools because their parents are
tired and they want to give.

Speaker 11 (13:33):
Them back to.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Amen.

Speaker 12 (13:41):
Thank you, thank you very much.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Take care, Alberto Carvallo la USD. And we're going to
post that up so you can see the three things
that you really need to know. So much happening and
so many programs to help you get to school. Attendance
is key. My husband Roy never missed a day of school.
He got that perfect attendance. I think you were like.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
That, Yeah, I maybe missed one or two.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Okay, but how many times would you go to school
and then leave?

Speaker 2 (14:08):
That happened often?

Speaker 1 (14:10):
It doesn't count. I'm coming up. We're gonna go inside entertainment.
Three words Simone Bile says before every competition and why
we need to say them every day.

Speaker 7 (14:19):
Next more feel Good is coming up on the llenk
Morning Show.

Speaker 8 (14:23):

Speaker 9 (14:26):
Alan, We love you, We listen to you every morning, religiously,
we implore you.

Speaker 8 (14:30):
Coast one oh three point five.

Speaker 1 (14:31):

Speaker 9 (15:40):
Oh is he?

Speaker 1 (15:41):
He is? He sang at my wedding.

Speaker 9 (15:44):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
I mean we didn't hire him to sing at our wedding.
He came to our wedding and then he got on
stage with the band that we had hired for our wedding.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Did he do that on his own or was he coerced?

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Well, he did it on his own because his other
like his keyboard player and his guitar player, we're also
at the wedding and they wanted to get on stage. Okay,
So then he started singing and we were like, oh
my god.

Speaker 8 (16:12):
Well you definitely have a.

Speaker 4 (16:15):
Greater group of friends.

Speaker 9 (16:17):
I guess then I do.

Speaker 11 (16:18):
Nobody's saying about.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
Well, tell you what do you think it is? Do
not commit this top friendship?

Speaker 9 (16:27):
No, no, I'm gonna say, talk about them behind their back.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
What a great guess. It's really popular. People are saying
that if it's your true friend, you'll never talk to
me on their back. It's not the right answer.

Speaker 9 (16:40):
Oh well, thank you so much, thank you, and.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
We go now to Rencha Kukamonga. He is Joseph, Hi, Joseph.

Speaker 12 (16:48):

like not giving them a chance to get out and
tell them about.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
It, like a pregnancy or a emotion, maybe an engagement,
right exactly. That gives me the shivers. We said Christina,
our workmate was pregnant on the air.

No we didn't.

Speaker 1 (17:11):

your haircut. Oh thanks, So Ryan decided he was gonna

Speaker 5 (21:14):
I did.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
It's really hard to do.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Stood in the shower and just let it all rip.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
But you didn't like the way it was growing out.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
No, because once it hits that certain point, it's just
becomes kind of like you look like a Q tips
like yeah, yeah, yeah, it's like a poofball.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
Yeah, it's all the same length. And it was. I'm
so happy that you that you went to a barber.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
It did.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
I just told the guy said, look, I just I
made a mistake. I shaved my head. I don't like this.
Can you make it look like I have some sort
of haircut?

All right, it's John Cena cut. All right, Carrie's ready,

you're listening for Kiss by Prince, it's your ln K

thousand dollars. Carrie, you want to go to you and Anna?
Have you have a message for us before the bell?

Speaker 9 (22:06):
I do?

Speaker 1 (22:07):
I do.

Speaker 4 (22:07):
I'm a social worker. I'm at the Anaheim Braille Institute,
but I wanted to just spread a message and encourage
all of our kiddos going back as well as our
adult students, you know, to always practice empathy as you
head back to school. It's so important when you encounter
someone who might be a little bit different, maybe they

(22:29):
have a physical difference or anything that makes them a
little bit different, practice empathy. You know, try to put
yourself in that person person's shoes, and it really it's
beneficial to help everyone understand what it's like to be
a little different. Include in addition to that inclusion, if

(22:51):
you see someone that's maybe eating alone or doesn't have
a group of friends yet, be that person to approach
them first, invite them to come and meet with you
this week, and a lot of friendships can be formed
that way.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
So sweet, love that message. Thank you, Carrie, have a great,
great day.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 14 (23:11):
Ellen.

Speaker 11 (23:12):
You too.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
Take care I.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Take care of Yeah. It's a good reminder. When you
see someone new at school or maybe you're like going
from elementary to middle or middle to high, you know,
and they are a little different, then go over and
introduce yourself.

Speaker 6 (23:26):
Can I just say something on behalf of my daughter.
She's nonverbal, and that doesn't mean she doesn't like you
to talk to her. She loves when people high five her,
give her some attention, be her friend. And now she
loves school. And I think if everyone just gave everyone
a chance. Once you get to know someone, it's hard
to not like them, So just please be nice.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Yeah, so good, all right, we're coming back. We're coming
back with money as well, and iHeartRadio music festival tickets.
Just keep it here to wing.
