Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alabama's Morning News. I'm jt join us now Kevin Flannagan
to go over some of the movies opening up this weekend. Boy,
I'll tell you this looks really good, Kevin. Two movies
and a series that we're going to be talking about.
Why don't we start with The Running Man? What's this
one all about?
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Might as well start with it, right Stephen King wrote
that book in nineteen eighty two JTS the year I
moved tout Alabama, and five years later the first running
The Running That movie came out, starring Schwarzenegger and a
number of other folks who won't even recognize anymore. Then
there was another one released, another make movie. They made
it a not a sequel or anything, but it was
(00:36):
just a remake based on the book. Now this is
a third one that's coming out, and this stars Glenn
Palell as the Running Man. Unlike the other ones, and
this one, Glen Palle's character has a child who is
sick and needs taken care of. They don't have the
money to do it. He's offered the money by being
involved in national TV show where he has to spend
(00:58):
thirty days on the run. So, unlike the original head
prisoners and all this stuff. This is just a guy
with some skills who has got to avoid being killed
for thirty days. There are a lot of assassins that
are out to get him, a lot of people in
the country are able to just he's got to escape everybody.
But as the show goes on, he begins to get
a little following, so maybe some folks help him a
(01:18):
little bit, and we'll see if he can actually make
it for the thirty days and save his little girl's life.
But a lot of accent. It's rated R. Needs to
be rated R. A lot of violence. But this is
definitely going to do well this weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
So he has to get on the run, stay on
the run for thirty days and live through it. And
meanwhile people are chasing to try and kill him.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Yes you know what else not just chasing him, but
anybody in the country season can try to kill him.
There's also going to be some things revealed about the show,
and he may end up doing some damage to the
TV show that has him out there on the run.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
All right, the next movie, Now You See Me, Now
you don't. Is this a continuation of the last one.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
This is a prequel to the last one. Let me
tell you some I love this movie. I love the
original was the first one, and I love this one.
So these guys are magicians. They're amazing magicians. It's got
Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Morgan Frame, and people will remember
these folks out of Fisher. They were in the one
(02:16):
that came out a few years ago. So in this one,
there is a diamond There's a family that uses diamonds
to buy and supply weapons around the world. It's a
money laundering scam. So what you love is, yes, it's
a height movie and the magicians are going to figure
out a hest to take down that family steal their diamonds.
(02:36):
But they're doing it from bad guys. So you're always
pulling for the thieves to steal the stuff from the
bad guys, right right Anyway, great magic, mind boggling magic.
I know, cameras arear and mirrors are involved, but also
a fun storyline and some great humor. I love these
guys interaction and humor. So I think the big one
this weekend for me is now you see me, Now
you don't.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Well, that does sound like fun. I love the first
one too, Kevin, no doubt that all right. A series
that's now out on Peacock and it stars the girl
that played Shiv in the series Succession, Sarah Snook. This
one is called All Her Faults? What's this series all about?
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Yes, it also starts to God, to Fanning and Michael
Penney and some other names and faces people will recognize.
This is supposed to take place in the Chicago area,
even though it was filmed in Australia, which sounds a
lot more fun to be into Chicago these days. But anyway,
in this a mom. Snook plays a mom who has
a five year old son. Her son disappears. So this
(03:32):
is a high end families. All these people go to
a very exclusive private school. They all have these nannies
who pick up the kids, take them a park. Through
that stuff. Well, Snook, who plays Marissa Irvin Irvine, her
child disappears, and the TV series then is trying to
figure out who took her son, why they took her sons,
how would they get their son back? And it reveals
(03:53):
a lot of family secrets, a lot of neighborhood secrets,
just a lot of great twists and turns, things you
don't see coming. And maybe a couple that you do,
but I mean the ending, the way this thing wraps up.
It's based on a book, so you might have read it,
but the way it wraps up will catch you off guard.
You'll go, I did not see that coming. So those
are always fun kind of TV series to follow as well.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
So All Her Fault is a mini series like one season,
only it.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Is eight episode mini series. It's a good one. Hey,
There's a lot of stuff out there to watch and
enjoy now streaming and at the movies, so go have
fun this weekend.
