Speaker 1 (00:33):
Well the weekends upon us. Welcome, you're at home with
Garry Salvin. This hour, by the way, is brought to

causes damage the safts, the facia, the foundation, and you
can fix us, and fix us now and really never
deal with it again. Gutter brush just slides into the gutter,

(00:53):
stops the leaves and the debris literally installs in minutes,
no tools needed, and right now you can save thirty
percent and you can also get the shipping for free.
Here's the magic number. It's the code Gary thirty. You
can visit gutterbrush dot com coupon code Gary thirty. And

(01:15):
we thank them for sponsoring this hour of the show.
As we work our way through the weekend getting a
few things done around the home, and if you'd like
to give us a call, we'll chat about your home projects.
It's eight hundred eight two three eight two five five
and grab a line and Dany'll chat with you and
he'll get you to me and away we go. One

(01:38):
of the things think about doing. We chatted a little
bit about it, but I do want to talk about
it over the next probably three weeks. As we start
many parts of the country, maybe even shutting off air conditioning,
maybe turning on the furnace. Look for separations in the duckwork.

(02:01):
A lot of energy is lost there that you've paid
to heat air and distribute through your house, and those
leaky connections cost you money. There's aluminum tape that can
be wrapped around those joints, which will keep the air
where it's supposed to be going. And also if you

(02:22):
want to try a little silicone calking, if there's actually
holes in some duckwork, those work very easily too. Or
there's one in a tube called liquid steel. It's not
really a liquid, it's kind of like a calking, but
that'll plug up those holes, seal up those seams, and
the money you're paying to heat that. You know you're

(02:43):
you're you're ahead of the game. So I recommend recommend
you taking a look at that and going accordingly. All
right again, it's eight hundred eight two three eight two
five five David, Welcome, Hi.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Gary, shake the help. Today. I was looking at a
condo buying a swell eighteen hundred square feet as a basement.
But at the moment I walked into the open house,
the whole place just reeks of mothball smelled that went
down into the basement the same thing. I saw a

(03:20):
lot of dead I got a couple of dead rodents
or whatever, I don't know what was mice, and a
bunch of dead bees and things like that down there.
I don't know if they were using it for that purpose,
but the place so is vacant, thank god. But I
started getting a headache, and I believe, bottom line, if
I was interested in buying that, is there any way

(03:41):
to get that smell out? Anything I have to worry about?

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Oh boys, there's yeah, yeah, I would say, here's here's
the one thing. When you were telling me that story, David,
sounds like there's more issues there than the smell of mothballs.
And I think the red flash, quite honestly, is if
you were getting headaches from it, there could be I

(04:06):
don't know, some allergens there that you're not going to
deal well with. So you know, I guess ventilation is
always the first thing to try, but you're not going
to be opening windows and doors for several days this
time of year. Would be my guest in Boston and
turning fans on. All that does is circulate the smell.

(04:30):
It doesn't necessarily freshen the air. So there are different
odor absorbing products that you may very well have or
can get by placing bowls of activated charcoal baking soda
around the area would absorb some of those smells. We

(04:52):
also one of the sponsors of this show makes a
tremendous odor eliminate and there's one called Magic Uh. They
work with essential oils. It's not a fre fragrance. It
actually destroys the odors. And their website you can go

(05:14):
to odor exit dot com. It's O D O R
XI T dot com. Or wait till tomorrow and give
them a call. It's eight seven seven Odor Exit and
see if they're eliminator will take care of that. They
got it. Yeah, but uh, you know, with with the
other things that are going on, that's you know, I

(05:37):
don't know if they're using mothballs to uh stop critters
or to cover up the odors so c more odors.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
So that's what I was wondering, because I was wondering
if there was that the odor was from, uh, like
some animal it's rans there or something like that, because
there was a couple of critters in there that were
clearly dead and eating, and there was a like a
beehive and they are all these uh you know, carcasses
of bees and stuff like that and there, so it

(06:10):
was a mess in the basement. Up the upper level
it looks clean, but you had carpeting. I'm thinking that
order you get to absorbed into the carpet and how
do you or well.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah, and I'll tell you the basements too. I mean,
if you got critters that you know have died, and
you got odors from that. Sometimes you got molds and mildews.
Some people are very very acceptable susceptible to molds and
those type of allergens. And then somebody gets a brilliant
idea of putting mothballs down there to cover up that smell,

(06:44):
and you know, you get rid of the mothball smell,
but then you've got this other big issue to deal with.
So I think it, you know, I think i'd probably
move on. Or if you want to give odor Exit
a call and ask about their eliminator, I think that
would be a real good idea before I bought into

(07:06):
something like that.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Yeah, that's that sounded by. Definitely give the owner eliminated
people a call and see it because I don't. I
don't want. I don't want to even make an offer
subject to you know, a review, you know, like from
uh of the property, because I want to spend money,
you know, on a review of the property if if

(07:32):
the problem can't be resolved or or what what what
prompted somebody to do that? Because you can't live in
that environment.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Right, And that's what I always say in the show too,
is peel back and find the source. Why why were
they using that? And yeah, when i'd be I think that,
I think they're trying to mask something. I think it's
got some allagins. It's probably got some mold issues, probably

(07:59):
has a wrote an issue. And you know, you can
always fix things. It's a matter of what kind of
finances are you going to need to fix that?

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Yeah, that's okay, but good advice, Gary is I appreciate
taking the time for that.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Quite welcome. Thank you much, David, appreciate it. Take care. Yeah,
that's jeez. We get a lot of people even recommending
mothballs will have some issues. There'll be a gopher burrowing
underneath a sidewalk, or something in a sidewalk sinking, and
somebody said, well just throw some mothballs in there. Well, yeah, okay,

(08:39):
it's outside, it's not the end of the world, but
you're still going the front door is gonna smell like
mothballs all the time. The real answer is to eliminate
the ability of that quote gopher. Either you get rid
of the gopher, or you create a barrier where he's
been borrowing, such as slab jacking or concrete leveling, where

(09:04):
you're pumping a smentatious material down there where they're not
going to be digging in there, and get rid of
the critter. Mothballs I think are used a lot, uh
and it's usually to chase animals or cover up smells,
so that that is certainly a red fleg. All right,

(09:25):
our phone number you can grab a line. Happy to
take your call. We've got a spot for you. It's

All right, back out of twenty minutes after the top
of the air at Home with Gary Sullivan, and let's
get back to the phone calls. We've got Jerry, Jerry, Welcome.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Hey, thank you, Gary appreciate the show.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
I just say you've.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
Talked in the past about a rust remover or something
that might freeze up a nut on a bolt that's
all rusted up and I can't seem to break it.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Yeah, there's a product that's a The brand name is Blaster,
and you want to it's a penetrant. They make different
types of oils, but the PB Blaster is what you
want to get. It is a trend that you spray

(13:03):
it on, let it sit for an hour, maybe a
little longer, and it'll literally work its way through the
rust even if there's a nut on are and work
its way down in through the threads. It's really amazing stuff, Jerry,
and you can get it at most hardware stores or
automotive shops. Are They definitely have it, but it's called

(13:26):
p B Blaster.

Speaker 5 (13:28):
Well that was my next question. Thank you very much.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
You're quite welcome. Thanks for the call. Appreciate it, Marty, welcome.

Speaker 6 (13:37):
All right.

Speaker 7 (13:38):
We bought a house one time in Billings, Montana, and
they had a terrible smell of moth balls. Once that
small smell went away, we could smell cats everywhere. Yeah,
so what we ended up doing was we threw out
all the carpeting and we mix a solution with water
and a little bit of bleach. We scrubbed down everything
for a halfway up the walls. Everything, let it dry,

(14:01):
and then we put Kills me paint of kills on everything,
and then whatever paint over that or carpeting over that,
and that cot rid of the smell.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
Yep, that will And I think you're spot on in
this particular case. I think that person who owned that
property was using the mothballs to cover up a smell,
and it wouldn't be the first time that's ever happened.
What you say is very true. The odor exit product

(14:31):
that I was speaking of, Marty, is wonderful for that
exact same thing. You don't have to use the paint,
which is one good thing. It's essential oils. It doesn't masket.
It actually eliminates the smell. And here's a little tip
for everybody too, Marty. One of the ways, if you're
buying a house or you're getting in a house that

(14:54):
you don't know what that history was, and maybe it
smells like you know, dogs or cats rule the roost here,
a black light will make dried urine on a surface
glow so that you'll be able to determine its exactly. Yeah,
it'll glow, and you'll be able to determine whether you

(15:16):
want to use your method or use the odor exit eliminator.
You'll know exactly the areas where there's problems. And you're
smart for removing the carpet and removing the pad because
those are like big giant sponges. And uh, again, you
can get rid of it. It's going to take some work,
or it's going to take a good product that requires

(15:40):
less work. Whichever way you go is fine, but you
can fix it. But in his case, he didn't know
what that problem was, and the problem was the mockballs,
and that's probably not the problem. That's probably not the
big problem.

Speaker 4 (15:56):
Okay, Gret, thank you.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Thank you, Marty. Appreciate the call, Appreciate the tip. A
lot of times people forever swear on the kills. I'm
not here tell you it doesn't work. Okay, I'm telling
you there might be an easier way. But what he says,
it's really and he said the walls, because a lot
of times people just pull up the carpet, focus on

(16:20):
the floor, and they forget about the walls. And that's
why I brought up the black light, because that really
identifies where the issues are. You might be cleaning up
the floors, you might even cleaning up the walls, and
hear the problem is in the closets. Not the first
time that happened either, and all of a sudden, you

(16:41):
still have that lingering smell. You're doing maybe you're using
the products I recommended, or you're doing a solution that's
worked for you in the past. Until you get that
black light involved, you really don't know where that odors
emanating from. You just think what you did cleaning up

(17:02):
didn't work. And that's really not the case. You missed
an area, uh, and closets are one area that's often missed,
so keep that in mind. But those are And by
the way, that that website I told you it was
odorxit dot com. Uh. They have a little pen light

(17:24):
flashlight when you like two double A or trip Awa
batteries in there and you can just you know, hit
the walls and the floors and everything and see exactly
where that odor is going. And and another thing when
he is the mothballs, and I was mentioning molds and
mills mildew U. They have one. They have a product

(17:47):
called AQM which is a packet when moistening clip to
a fan that produces a chlorine dioxide which will actually
oxidize those spores and is also a good way to
eliminate that type of allergen. It's maybe not a long

(18:09):
term solution really. What it's screaming as you have a
mold issue here, you need to find the source. And
the source remembers water, organic materials in our homes and
sore the mold spores. So the magic sauce is the
water which is making that colony grow, which is producing
those allergens. And it's fine to oxidize the allergens in

(18:34):
the air. I mean, it's very very helpful. But we
also need to look at the source, whether we need
to bring in Eric's changing units or mold remediation that
actually kills the mold on the surfaces and in the air.

(18:56):
But yeah, sometimes those mouthfalls are the red flags. That's
saying you definitely have a problem.

Speaker 8 (19:03):

(22:12):
All right, you're at home with Gary Salvian taking care
of a few things around the home. And thanks for
joining me, by the way, if you would like to
join us and talking about your home, cause Field free,
it's eight hundred eight two three A two five five.
I was talking about things as the weather changes, maybe
don't work quite as well around the home as you expect,

(22:37):
and I was talking about some plumbing issues. One of
the things that always seems to have some problems around
this time of year is the disposer dispose all the
grinder in the kitchen sink, if you want to call
it that, because that's kind of what it is. It's
got two disks in it, blades that grind up food particles. However,

(23:01):
it has limitations. It's for minimal scraps. Remember that. Remember
that when you're peeling, you know, twenty potatoes for your guest,
and you're trying to grind them up in the disposal
and all of a sudden that jams, and there's a
good chance it will. That's because that's too much and

(23:25):
it's starchy. If it does jam, you should have with
your owner's manual if you saved it, a little wrench
that so when it jams, there's a circuit breaker into
disposal pops that out and it's stuck. So there's a

(23:47):
alan wrench that goes into the bottom of the disposal
that you can mechanically turn those blades, those plates if
you will, and on jem it and then you can
press the circuit breaker button back in and hopefully it works.
But bottom line rule of thumb U is fibrous food

(24:10):
and a large quantity of food never recommended to go
down the disposal that includes potatoes, rice, celery. Every year
I do this. The day after Thanksgiving is usually the
busiest day of plumber will have and it's usually replacing
disposals or the people don't know that they can reset

(24:32):
the disposal. It's because they loaded it up so fibrous
materials the kind of the ones I mentioned, or a
large quantity they don't go in the disposal that's a
compost pile or trash. All right, let's go to Rich Rich.

Speaker 4 (24:53):
Welcome, Hi Gary, Thanks taking my call.

Speaker 9 (24:58):
Very quick question for you. I think it was last
week or the week before you had a gentleman on
when you're talking about painting the exterior of your house.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
It was a.

Speaker 9 (25:08):
Selent that lasts for twenty five years. I think you've
had your house done with the stuff. I can't remain it.
I can't remember the name of it. But my question
is can you use that on cedar boards.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
I'm sure you can. I don't know any reason why
you would not be able to use it, because it
can go on it can go on wood sighting, it
can go on metal siding, it can go on brick.
The name of the product, it's an a last Americ
ceramic coating and it's called Rhino shield.

Speaker 10 (25:44):
Rhino shield.

Speaker 5 (25:45):
I could not remember that.

Speaker 10 (25:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (25:46):
The reason when I asked about the sheed is because
I was under the impression that cedar had to breathe,
and since you're putting a coating on it, it's not
allowing it to breed. I didn't know whether the boards
themselves would have eventually dry out underneath that coating, or
you know, hold moisture unneath that coating and rot.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
That's why I was content, Well, the rhino shield is
a breathable coating. Number one, oh, it is, yes, okay.
And number two is where cedar got a kind of
a bad name was from the tannins and the oils
and when we used to use oil based paints. Oil

(26:28):
based paints are not breatheable, and you would have a
cedar house or really any kind of house, but Cedar
got a bad name just because it peeled faster on
cedar because of the tannins and the inability for an
oil based paint to breathe. So a curly house paints breathe.

(26:48):
The rhino shield does breathe also.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Okay, great, thanks Gary.

Speaker 9 (26:53):
I appreciate that and I'll look into it.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
Very good. Thanks Rich, thanks for the call. All Rightton,
let's go to Simon. I'm gonna screw that up, Simon. Sorry,
how are you good? Good?

Speaker 6 (27:12):
You had some comments on the h trash of the disposal.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Yes, and I've had one a long time.

Speaker 6 (27:20):
I did learn about the reset button the hard way.
But you know, when I use it, like Thanksgiving is
a good example you mentioned.

Speaker 11 (27:27):
I always at the end of it all, I put
some ice cubes in there, and and then I put
it with the water running. I put just a squirtered
dish soap like don and it gets the grease sew
until and then all of a sudden, you know, the
bubbles come up the other sink, and then you know
it's gotten in there and knock on wood.

Speaker 6 (27:47):
Now that I say it, it'll probably go on. But
I haven't had trouble since I've started that.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
Yeah, that's a good way. The ice cubes actually kind
of help sharpen those plates in there. And you know,
even even citrus like an orange, half an orange, a
quarter of an orange, a quarter of a lemon. Putting
that in there is a real good grease combatter. It
also helps eliminate odors. And one other tip, since we're

(28:12):
doing tips on disposals, that little splash guard, that rubber
thing that fits right over the top of it. A
lot of times you and me, I'll throw citrus down there.
You put don dish soap in there and clean it out.
But the thing it doesn't clean is the backside of

(28:36):
that rubber splash guard. So when you grind up food
and the food splashing up, a lot of times it
sticks on the back of that splash guard, and then
the bacteria as that food sits there for a while,
starts to smell. And I would say ninety percent of
the sinks that rubber piece can pull out and just

(28:58):
kind of wipe that down or scrub that down and
you get rid of the odor real fest on that
doing that also.

Speaker 6 (29:06):
The way you can also there they don't ever that
thing you're talking about that can go through the dishbluncher
on the top.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Oh okay, good, I haven't done that. I'm just gonna
scrub them periodically because you can tell Yeah, yeah, all
about easy. I like that. Well, thank you very much.

Speaker 6 (29:27):
So, yeah, you do such a great job. I enjoy
every weekend.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Thank you appreciate it all right, uh and the phone
number if you'd like to join us as we get
close to wrapping up another weekend. And by the way,
I want to remind you, every hour of this show
is available to you via podcast. So if you don't
get Saturday Show because maybe your radio station and you

(29:53):
listen to me on doesn't carry it, or maybe you
were busy and you'd like to circle back and pick
up an hour, or you'd like to hear that interview
that we did with Adam Smith talking about smart strip
and peel away paint strippers, you can pick that up
as a podcast each hour and interviews, and you can

(30:16):
get that on the iHeart app or wherever you get podcasts,
it's just listed as at Home with Gary Sullivan. Danny's
got the hours mark, the dates marked, and what the
interviews about. So take advantage of that, easy for you
to do at your leisure, and we'll continue with your
calls next. And our phone number is eight hundred A

(30:38):
two three A two five five. You can go ahead
and grab a line, happy to talk about home projects.
Oh one other thing before we take a break. The dryer.
We're kind of covering the planks today, also kind of
covering a lot of cleaning, but dryers. As I was saying,
is temperatures cool. We started having some issues with plumbing

(31:02):
and stuff like that. If you notice your dryer is
just not drying clothes effectively. You know that load used
to take thirty five minutes and now it's taken fifty minutes.
There's a good chance that the venting at the back
of that dryer needs to be cleaned. A lot of

(31:26):
lint build up will just make it harder for that
dryer to dry things and it will overwork and in
some cases could overheat the dryer and could cause bigger problems.
So if you start noticing while those loads just don't
drive fast enough anymore. It's there's a very very good

(31:49):
chance pull that flexible tubing off if you can get
to it and clean it out. They got brushes to
clean it out, or maybe it's just a short run.
You can you can reach in there and clean it out.
But you'll notice a remarkable difference almost immediately. So check
that dryer. Then if it takes longer to dry a

we got Steve, Steve, welcome.

Speaker 4 (35:14):
Good morning, Gary.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
Are you I'm doing fine? Thank you good.

Speaker 10 (35:19):
I've just listened to you and that gentleman about draining
his hot water heater. I don't know if he is
or isn't, but if you're not, he needs to open
up a hot water belve somewhere in the house.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
Yep. Oh I didn't say that.

Speaker 10 (35:32):
Yep for that to drain, otherwise it won't. Y's you
got to turn your cold water supply off. But then
when he goes to refill it, he needs to leave
that on until the water comes out of that hot
water belt.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
Thank you, thank you. I should have covered that for sure.

Speaker 10 (35:47):
Oh now I got another one for as far as
you're talking about chimneys, and while you weren't not well
a little bit about the creosold. I have an outdoor
wood burner, and so I burned a lot of wood.
But you know you'll get that tari creosode right what
I fall That worked the best for me, and it's
about the cheapest way burn an aluminum can. Reallyminum pop canner, Yeah,

(36:09):
that illuminum pop canner or beer can will take that
tar and it'll just crystallize it.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
I've not heard of that one.

Speaker 10 (36:19):
That was an old guy that told me that I
was got in trouble with mine, and he said, throak
up illuminum cans in there once or twice a week. Yeah,
it'll take care of it. Oh my god, it did.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
Steve. Let me tell you this because it's kind of
along the same lines, and I love those kind of tips,
and I do appreciate your call. I had a fellow
one time tell me on a dirty grill grid to
take aluminum foil and just lay it on the surface
of the cooking grid and turn the grill on high

(36:55):
if it's a gas grill, or build a real strong fire,
and that aluminum will clean your great. You're grilling great.
And I did it and it worked, and I talked
about it on the show, and several people call me
and say that didn't work, So I think there is

(37:17):
something to that. I don't know if there's any secrets
in it, but I've used that little tip a couple
of times with aluminum foil and getting rid of that
grease build up, and I don't know, maybe I just
got lucky, but it was kind of interesting. I like
to always try those tips. I appreciate that. If maybe
give that a try, but still get that inspected too,

(37:39):
that's for sure. All right, let's go to Shila. Sheila, welcome, Hi,
I love your show. Thank you.

Speaker 13 (37:47):
I have a problem taking my hose off the attachment
coming out of the cellar, and I was wondering if
you could help me.

Speaker 1 (37:56):
Okay, So this is the lawn faucet. Okay, and you're
just having a hard time unscrewing it. Is that the deal?

Speaker 5 (38:06):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (38:08):
Yeah? Have you tried like a channelock plowers or something
along those lines.

Speaker 13 (38:14):
I have, and I have tried three in one oil, yeah,
and staked and nothing is happening.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
Well here's yeah. We had to call earlier. I don't
know if you heard it. Somebody was asking about a
product that I talked about to get stuck nuts and
bolts off. And I said, the name of that product
is Peebe Blaster, and that would be ideal. Three in
one oil is a fine lubricant, but it's not a

(38:43):
penetrating lubricant. Liquid wrench is a penetrating lubricant. Pebe Blaster
is one. I prefer. It's a nice little aerosol that
you can.

Speaker 8 (38:55):
Spray it on, are spray it around and uh, it'll
cut through any corrosion that's there, and give it a
couple hours and then go out and get your chinlocks
on there and you should be able to twist it
right off.

Speaker 13 (39:11):
Oh wonderful. That's great. Thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
All right, thank you, take care, bye bye. It is
an amazing product. I've used the peb blaster for many,
many years. A lot of times folks that work in
automotive or in lawn machinery and that type of thing, bicycles,
anything where there's corrosion and some sort of fastener. The

(39:36):
PB blaster I said this before, and I don't understand
how it gets down between a bolt and a nut
and gets in with the threads and breaks down that
corrosion and Bengo. You let's sit there a couple hours
and you're pretty much good to go. Plumbing is another
one where you'll see that a lot.

Speaker 4 (39:55):
Tom, welcome, thanks for taking my call. I'm turning my
attached garage into a multipurpose room flooring a heat splitter
in you know, heat and cold. Now it's totally sheet
rocked and no insulation in the attic, and I get

(40:16):
your advice on how I should approach that.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
So is the attic ventilated and the rest of the
house has insulation in the attic? Or explain it, Yes.

Speaker 4 (40:29):
There's insulation in the addic. You actually go up in
the attic. It's almost like an envelope system where I
can see the interior walls, the insulation on the.

Speaker 1 (40:38):
Outside Okay, that makes many sense. Yeah, so you just
want to have like a blanket of insulation on the
base of the attic above the garage to keep the
heat into the Yeah. Yeah, well you would address that
as similarly. You could either blow it in or you
could put blankets of insulation in there with a vapor barrier.

(40:59):
Is that room always going to be heated and always
always on? I mean it's going to be a living.

Speaker 4 (41:05):
Space now, that's right.

Speaker 7 (41:07):
Now.

Speaker 4 (41:07):
I just have it on frost protection where it kicks.

Speaker 1 (41:10):
On it forty five degrees okay, and.

Speaker 4 (41:12):
In the summer, I anticipate having it open a lot
of time. But when I want to have it cool
down for maybe family function or playtime, I'll close the
garage door and turn on the air.

Speaker 1 (41:24):
It's the garage door insulated, it is.

Speaker 4 (41:28):
But I'm going to I'm going to put the styrofoam
in the channels, you know that.

Speaker 1 (41:37):
Yeah, be careful with that. Sometimes that can aggravate the
whole garage door. I've recommended doing that too, So it's
not like I'm against it, but I was talking to
a garage door manufacturer and they go, well, add that
extra way. You can cost some issues with the springs.
You can cause some issues with the alignment. I have

(41:58):
not had that problem.

Speaker 4 (42:00):
It's a lightweight it's a lightweight tire fum. Yeah, I
think I'll be okay.

Speaker 1 (42:05):
Okay, you're saying you're going to use a glue to
put that on it.

Speaker 4 (42:10):
Just it pops right in.

Speaker 1 (42:11):
Oh it does, okay, all right, all right, so that'll
help a little bit. I think for the most part,
I would. I would still use a vapor barrier. It's
going to be a difference in temperatures, it's going to
be a living space to a degree, so I would
just you know, it depends on how much room you

(42:32):
got up there, how big the joystar, whether you're going
to blow it in or not. But yeah, probably put
a vapor barrier down.

Speaker 4 (42:41):
Well, here's the idea that I was just going to
blow in insulation, the fire fiberglass or okay, I don't know.
Would that be good enough without a vapor bear?

Speaker 1 (42:51):
Well yeah, let me ask you this then, is the
is the attic itself in with the other attic where
there's some ventilation or is there no ventilation at all?

Speaker 4 (43:02):
This ventilation on the exterior, you know, the vents.

Speaker 1 (43:08):
The soft inventing underneath the guttering and there's no ridge
vent or anything along those lines.

Speaker 4 (43:17):
No, no ridge vent on it.

Speaker 1 (43:19):
Okay, Well, that soft inventing really isn't doing anything if
you're using it, just as as some air conditioning and
you know, not living quarters, you know, uh, you know,
every day of the year. I think you'll be fine
even using a non non vapor barrier on there. So

(43:40):
if you use the foam, you'd use an open cell
phone or or just blown in insulation right on top
of the backside of the ceiling of the garage, you'll
be fine, all right, Tom, Thank you much for the call.
I appreciated music's playing and opportunity to thank Danny for

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
