Speaker 1 (00:03):
And back at it we go. We are thirty three
minutes after the top of the hour. Joining us now
is Alex o'hanley. You've heard him before on this show.
We're talking about a product called gutter brush, and what
a timely project that is. Right now, Alex, welcome again.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Thank you, Gary, thank you very much, thanks for having
gutter brush on. And it is the time, isn't it?
Speaker 1 (00:25):
It is the time? You know. I got a big
scoop for you. You ready, Yeah, winner's coming. The leaves
have fallen, I'd say eighty percent where I'm at, maybe
more where you're at.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Well, this year I went up to Vermont, so I'm
I'm in Rhode Island and it's beautiful. Every year went
up to Vermont and the leaves were a little muted.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
The weather always affects the colors, but one thing for
sure is they.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Fall, Yes, they do. And as beautiful as it is,
anything around your home eventually requires some maintenance and leaves
fallen requires your rake leaves. And one thing that's kind
of out of sight and maybe out of mind to
some people is those leaves fall on your roof and
(01:20):
they end up in your gutter. And sometimes they don't
wash away.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
And then they cause water to pour over and cause
damage to features that are expensive like window trends and
all that. And the other thing is is now there's
a time limit for those in the north, because if
you get out there too late, then the leaves are
locked in ice and you can't clean them.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Well, that's so true. In fact, I made everybody pledge
this year on numerous occasions that no matter what, whether
they putting gutter brush to keep the leaves from clogging
the gutters or they get another something to protect the gutters,
at the very least, you might pledge that you're going
to clean out those gutters. I'm sure you'll agree with.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
That, oh absolutely. And like I said, you know, there's
sort of a built in time clock ticking. Winters coming
and everybody wants to decrease damage to their home. And
this is a good time to buy your gutter brush
and have it there when you clean your gutter. That
is hardly any work to just slide three foot lengths
(02:27):
of gutter brush into the gutter. You fill the whole
gutter at It's odd sale until November twenty fourth, Monday
the twenty fourth, Gary three zero gets thirty percent off
at gutterbrush dot com.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
So and you did just kind of explain it. But
this requires no tools. This requires I guess a ladder,
and if you can't climb a ladder, you're going to
have to find a handyman or somebody that's you know,
decorating houses with Christmas lights is such a big deal.
Now they could probably slide these brushes in. I mean,
it's a very simple process to install them, and it's
(03:05):
on sale. But what's the expense to protect your whole home?
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Well, we'll jump ahead on that. My house. You know,
some houses have gutters on all four sides, and that
is definitely twice as much as my home, which is
a colonial home, a typical two story colonial, And I
can outfit my house seventy five feet for two hundred
and eighteen dollars and that includes delivery. Most people will
(03:34):
probably have to spend two to three hundred, but those
with gutters on four sides would probably spend five to
six hundred because they've got more gutters. And the beautiful
thing about gutter brush is that whoever cleans your gutters
can just slide gutter brush into place, filling the whole
gutter with three foot lengths and you leave it in
(03:55):
place to keep it from clogging. It works so well.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
So how long's a gutter brush last? I mean, it's
a black it feels like like a plastic brush. It
looks like a bottle brush, quite honestly.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
That's what it is. It's a very long lasting, high
quality UV protected bottle brush that sized for all the
gutters out there, six different sizes, and it lasts well
in excess of the ten year material warranty that gutter
brush provides.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
You know, there's all kinds of things, you know as
well as I do. You see all these helmets for gutters.
You see filters for gutters, you see meshes for gutters,
screens from gutter varying in prices. Sometimes you can do
helmets that have cost you four thousand dollars to protect
your gutters on your home. What's the difference from like
(04:52):
screens and meshes that I've seen to the gutter brush.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Well, so the biggest difference is that all of these
products are linear. So the mesh is attempting to keep
every single speck of debris out of the gutter, and
it's linear by nature. It's shaped and it points to
the outer edge of the gutter and they're fastened. So
(05:17):
what happens is when they get dirty, or sometimes even
when they don't get dirty, the fast rain hits them
and it shoots the water past the gutter, which is
completely different from gutter brush. We believe that when you
try to keep every speck of debris out of the gutter,
you've got to end up keeping the water out too.
(05:37):
So gutta brush is a great balance. It draws the
water into the gutter, it keeps it from clogging, and
it decreases the work that goes into maintaining gutters immensely.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
And the most basic about the gutter brush is, again
we talked about it being like a bottle brush. There's
these fibers that are sticking up, so the leaves can't
actually get down into the gutter. They get tangles in
the bristles or they blow off the bristles that there's
no entry point to clog the gutter.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Correct, So that's exactly right. So you slide gutter brush
into place, and it's the flexible bristles that they slide
underneath the crossbar hangers and they spring back up on
the other side to create a raised bristle profile so
that the debris that drops on it is up higher
(06:29):
than the edges of the gutter and it can be
blown off by the wind. Now, sure debris gets stuck
in the bristles, of course it's going to, but it
can't clog the gutter. Individual pieces of debris were never
reasons for a gutter clog. In order for a gutter clog,
it needs to clump together and make a bigger plug
(06:51):
that plugs the down spout or a dam, and that
can't happen when gutter brush is protecting the whole gutter.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
You said it comes in six sizes. There's different sizes
of gutters. Number one the most popular sized gutter, and
number two, how do you measure and make sure you
get the right size gutter brush for the right size gutter?
Speaker 2 (07:13):
So again, it's on sale at www. Gutterbrush dot com
and there's a page there that's called how to measure
that you can visit and you can match your gutter
up with pictures of gutter brushes that show tape measures
and so forth. But the most common size by far
is the five inch K style gutter that accepts our
(07:36):
four and a quarter inch brush for five inch gutters,
and we've got a size for every gutter.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Yeah, yeah, so you do commercial buildings also, you probably
can do gutter brush even on tile roofs.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Oh yes. And you know, so many people these days
are talking about their fortified roofs and their roof warranties
and also talking about how some gutter guards void the
warranty but not guttter brush. It doesn't touch the roofs.
So you could use gutter brush with tiles, slate, shingles, metal,
(08:11):
metal buildings, commercial buildings. We've got a brush to solve
clogging in all gutters.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
So how's that work in the winter time if we
got bristles and they do stick up about I don't know,
maybe an inch above the gutter. It's how's it work
in the winter time when you got snow and ice
and maybe colder temperatures.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
It's funny, Gary, I had an old timer roofer, as
you know, I was a roofer for twenty five years,
and I talked to roofers and he said to me,
I don't use gutter brush for leaves. And I'm like, okay, hey,
and he said, I use it for snow and ice. Really,
he learned years ago that when he had a problem
gutter with ice and snow or ice build up. Usually
(08:54):
that's more of an effect of not enough insulation and
not enough stop it ventilator. But he learned that he
could stop that ice process by putting gutter brush in
because the snow won't clog the gutter, the gutter will
drain better, and the black bristles absorbed the sunlight and
aid in the melting. So it has great winter benefits
(09:16):
and you can see that at gutterbrush dot com. On
our winter page. You can see videos, you can learn
a lot. And of course Gary three zero gets thirty
percent off until November twenty fourth, that's Monday.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Okay, And that's free shipping also, so I mean free
shipping a great deal. That's a great deal. Well. Also,
one of the neat things about it is gutter Brush
is a family owned business. It's also made right here
in the USA.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Correct, It absolutely is made right here in Massachusetts.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Very good. And is there a war tea on gutter brush?
Speaker 2 (09:56):
There is, Yes. I mentioned earlier that you've got a
ten year material warranty, but it never gets challenged. Gary,
I mean, we've been selling gutter brush for twenty one
years and that's been warrant material warranty never needs to
get challenged. And also for one year. People have the
peace of mind that if it's not working out for them,
they can give us a call. We troubleshoot it, we
(10:18):
work with it, we make sure it's installed properly, and
they can return it for a full refund.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Yeah, because there's not much to it in terms of installing.
I keep going back to that. It's it's kind of
one of those no brainer projects. I mean, if you
can get on a ladder or get someone in a ladder,
I mean a kick, can slide the brush into the
gutters and that's truly it. You don't have to cut it,
do you. I Mean it folds into itself, so.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
For twenty one years. That's the point is that it's
so easy and anyone can get the confidence and peace
of mind for having to solve their own problems. And
you can cut it or you can full it. You
can literally fuld it. Just put it in and give
it a quarter of a turn and you don't have
to cut it. But that's the point is that we
(11:08):
don't need to complicate gutters with difficult processes. Anyone who
can install, who can clean a gutter, can install gutter
brush and protect it. And they are forty nine dollars
tryout packs. If you fill a small gutter, you can
test it out. You can watch it for a season,
and people buy a small amount twelve or fifty feet
(11:30):
fill one gutter and then they come back for more
after they cut it out.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Sure, all right, folks, So we're going to run out

but you mentioned rotting of sofets and stuff, and that
seems as a as a former roof for Alex, you
probably saw wildlife get into attics because of rotted wood
around the gutters.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Oh yeah, and bugs. Bugs live in the wood when
it's wet. You got to keep your house dry, and
that's why we clean the gutters. Keep the house dry.
