Speaker 1 (00:03):
And now from the New York Giants broadcast team, it's John.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Smelt Johnny nineteen hours ago, I said, well, maybe I'll
watch the other game. That was about sixty seconds after kickoff.
That could have gone like eleven seconds, could have gone sideways.
That's real quickly yesterday. But it didn't. Giants get hung
in twenty one to fifteen win.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
How to go, John, Yeah, look, you're right, you fubbled
the opening kick off. The second play of the game,
they complete a twenty five yard touchdown throw to Maury Cooper.
Giants goes three and out. They pumped the ball away,
the Browns get it, uh, the manager pump and then
on the first play the Giants next possession, Daniel Jones
throws an interception because it's what his tight rookie tight
end looked like. You didn't run the right route. But

(00:52):
the play gets called back for a rupping the passer penalty.
And then the Giants put together one of the better
offensive the football that we've seen in a while. I
mean against the brown defense, who has been pretty much
the best pass defense football since the beginning of the
twenty twenty two season. Daniel Jones completed seventeen of nineteen
passes in the first half and was nearly perfect. And

(01:15):
you know, it was the second Shray week they scored
three touchdowns in a game and the defense held of
their end of the bargain in this one, held on
to win twenty one fourteen.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Control the ball, which is which is great to see
because it almost like it gives them an opportunity to
start showing that they can do it.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
You know, that was great. Yeah, and then look the
want to send the postcol Yesterday was last year the
Giants were in a bunch of games where they got
big deficits early, their offensive line was banged up and
they saw an opposing pass rush devastate their quarterback. Well,
the Giants were on the other side of that card. Yesterday,
That's what they did. They got up twenty one to
seven early. The Browns offensive line was banged up and

(01:53):
they had the Giants pass rush went to the work.
They had eight sacks from nine different players and their
pass russ controlled that game. That's formula for the Giants.
So it worked in Week three and now they're one
and two with the Thursday night game incoming.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
At Giants dot com. Will tell you that the Giants
had the most sacks in a decade three weeks into it.
Rookie of the Year has to be Molak Neighbors, right,
John three weeks here?

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Hi, Yeah, it's a good question. I did not see
what Marvin Harrison Junior did yesterday. To be honest with you,
maybe you could tell me, but it would be hard
to argue against miliite Neighbors and the way he's played
so far this season. And look, you know me, I'm
not one for hyperbole. I told you guys in the offseason.
He's been the best rookie I've seen in the training
camp since I've worked for the Giants, and it has

(02:35):
shown up. He's been phenomenal. Daniel Jokes can just throw
it up even when he's covered a Neighbors vault and
make the play and it makes all the difference for
a quarterback in an offense. He has been wonderful.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Hey, you want to feel old, I think straight hand
just turned into a grandfather.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Oh my gosh. My first year, My first year working
for the team was two thousand and seven, So he
golfed to Albany and that was the Giants Super Bowl year.
Also strands last year and the whole story that offseason
with straight hand holding out in camp because you know,
he was a thirty something year old dude. He's like,
I don't want to go to all but he and
play football for a month. I'll just show up like
the last week August and I'll be fine. And that's

(03:11):
exactly what happens.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
So John Schmelg part of the Giants broadcast team. So
Giants are one and two. They are going to go
up against a desperate Cowboys team. But I hate these
quick turnarounds. Giants and Cowboys play on Thursday. What does
their in week look like?

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Yeah, so they'll come in today, they will take a
look at film, they'll do the review of the of
the game yesterday. I don't know if they're going to
do any film working such on the Cowboys. They might.
Tomorrow they will have a walk through. They won't even
have a full practice, and then you know, Wednesday, they're
getting ready for the you know, the day before the game,

(03:47):
they'll probably do like a like an indoor walkthrough and
they'll just be in the cold tub getting treatment all
week to try to you know, get ready for this
quick turnaround. But you're right, this is not the week
you want to play the Dallas Cowboys. They've lost their
last two games, and they're gonna be a little bit
step I imagine, a little bit annoyed in this game.
And the Giants have not be Dak Prescott as the
Cowboys starting quarterbacks since his rookie year in twenty sixteen.

(04:08):
So this would be a statement win if the Giants
get figured this out Thursday night.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
If you can count, maybe on one hand, the amount
of good Thursday night games Prime has had, they just
the matchups just don't work. Players don't work. I hope
it's a close game, but I feel like it's gonna
be a blowout one way or another. But we'll wait
and see. What do you make of like Minnesota being
three and oh and you call it John Mando, and
then Pittsburgh being three and oh.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
All aboard the seb Dog Express, baby, but sorry, the
bandwagon is closed. If you were on early, you are
not jumping on now. But look, it is like all
jokes aside. You know, everyone talks about what a horrible
loss that was with the Giants in week one. Do
you have to go back and reevaluate this now and say, well,
you know what, obviously losing twenty eight to six is

(04:54):
not good. But are the Vikings the best team in
football right now? So maybe that's not as bad of
a war as you might think it is considering what
they dished it to. The Houston Texans. Well, a lot
of people think are a potential Super Bowl contender.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Yeah, go with that. You make a good point. And
then Quinn asked about that Steelers. That's an ugly three
to zero from the Steelers, but they'll take it.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
That's Steelers football, right, I mean, the Pittsburgh Steelers do
not play Forreddy football. They're gonna play defense, They're gonna
run the ball, They're gonna try to limit the amount
of times they throw the ball. Justin Fields will make
some runs with his legs and make them plays that way.
I don't think Mike Tomlin, mine's winning ugly at all.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
When when we see Russell Wilson, or will we see
Russell Wilson.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Until they start losing games or Justin Field starts giving
games away, Why would you change quarterbacks? I know I wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Well, I'll say this, I still don't have this league
figured out, because if I had San Francisco beating the Rams,
that didn't happen.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
I had the Panthers, I don't want so far for
a drupting What a great job by the ram Do
you know what their injury situation is.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
I know they have like.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Two or three offensive lineman hurt. Both their starting wide
receivers are out, their starting tenants Tyler Higbee still hurt.
They've got a young defense. I don't know how Sean
Niggay pulled that game off, but what an amazing win
for the Rams. That was a what a hell of
a job.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
At great game and Stafford throws an amazing deep ball.
I will say in defense of the Niners, they were
down two wide receivers in a tight end too.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
So you know, no, that's true.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Good point is Tommy Kutlittz trying to engineer a trade
to get to Miami. What is Miami going to do?
They're down to their third string quarterback like that.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Skoylet Thomason got hurt yesterday? Right? How serious was it is?
Is it like bad?

Speaker 2 (06:29):
It was a chest injury. I didn'tet any details, but
it's bad enough that they had to bring boil in. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Look, I mean the Giants went through this last year, right,
I mean when you get down to your third string quarterback,
it's tough, but you can build. The Giants won three
straight games with Tommy DeVito last year, so you can
put your out a way to win games. The problem
is that the entire way the Dolphins player revolves around
their passing game and their quarterback in a lot of ways.
And look, they run the ball extremely well, but they

(06:56):
win with big plays and speed. So it's I think
it's going to be tough floating for them with their
third string quarterback. And they'll be honest with you.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
What's the Bills record? Three and oh, two and out?

Speaker 1 (07:05):
They are two and oh and they played tonight, so
they are two and all heading into tonight's game. And
tonight they have the Commanders, which that that game could get,
that game could get.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Why why do we have two Monday night football games
week three of the of the season.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah, wait a second under two games tonight?

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Yeah there's Cincinnati too. Cincinnati plays the Jags or Bills
and building Jaguars since he and Commanders.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Yeah, I'm sorry, Yeah, I was gonna say, I do
the Commands are playing tonight? Like? Well, I don't think
they're playing the Bills. Yeah, I have, dude, Honestly, I
have no idea. If I do not, how have an
answer for.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
You're forgiving you a busy day yesterday and you had
to fly. Hey, Johshul. One more question is your boy?
Is your boy? Okay? I see you got some stitches there.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Oh dude, So if you have like two minutes, yeah,
real quick. So on Monday, Monday morning, my daughter dad
I saw it at a bed last time. I'm like, oh,
I I didn't hear you, and you didn't come and
wake us up, so I don't think you're telling the truth.
So around like two o'clock, I got a call from
the school nurse and they're like, her arm's hurting, and

(08:08):
you know, you look hard as a black and blue.
We think there might be a fracture. So the school
bring her in for X rays. And I'm like, hold
on a second, if you can barely see a black
and blue, it's probably not fracture. But so it wasn't.
So that was a trip to urgent care. Then on Wednesday,
on two thirty, I'm about to go into the locker
room to do interviews and I got a call from daycare. Yeah,
your son fell and hit his head. On the chair.

(08:30):
You better come get him. It's bleeding a lot. And
I'm like, oh no, so I have to go back
to the same urgent care. While he's bleeding out in
the waiting room, He's sprinting back and forth trying to
jump off of chairs. The kid has not learned any
lessons at all. I had to go back and he
had to get seven stitches in his foregg Did they.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Pull aside and say what's happening here?

Speaker 1 (09:00):
I have a buddy here at work and he's like, dude,
the same urgent care two out of three days with
two separate kids. You better be careful.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Yeah no, I mean they'll pull you aside. Just that's
like their gig. Yeah. Well, I'm glad he's okay. It's
tough as nails that kid.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Dude. He the student that that kid will be your
friend and college that says, guys, let's ride down the
hill on dinner trees, Like that's what that kid's gonna be.
Love it.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Well, stay safe. We'll talk to you Thursday morning, if
that's all right, John, Sure?

Speaker 1 (09:28):
And then Friday morning again? Why not?

Speaker 2 (09:29):
You got it?

Speaker 1 (09:30):
All right?

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Giants football with John Spout. Thanks buddy, all right?

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Boys always got you to do it.
