Queen Elizabeth II will be remembered through the lens of her iconic and beloved Christmas messages in a special Newstalk ZB broadcast presented by Mike Hosking this Christmas Day.
The monarch, who died in September, delivered a Christmas Day message from the beginning of her reign in 1952, right up until her final Christmas last year.
Over a remarkable seven decades of Christmases, the Queen used these broadcasts to respond to countless global events – from the Tangiwai disaster in 1953, to 9/11 in 2001, to numerous wars and famines.
Despite the often difficult subject matter, she was always able to offer a poignant message of hope heading into the New Year.
A special documentary feature, airing on Newstalk ZB at 11:20 am on December 25, will show how the Queen’s speeches tell the story of her reign, her personal life, and the world-shaping events she was on the throne for.
