A suggestion we should shake up the way hospitals buy medical equipment. 
One News reports hospitals are using medical equipment that's outdated and allegedly faulty. 
Medical Technology Association CEO Cushla Currie told Tim Dower that New Zealand currently decides what medical equipment to buy based on the cost of the item. 
But she says we should look to evaluating them on more than just their price tag. 
“You might have a product which is $300 more expensive, that product may enable that patient to get out of hospital one day earlier in which case you’re actually saving the hospital a couple thousand dollars.”
