Speaker 1 (00:00):
Over on the Legacy Retirement Group dot com phone line.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Let's check in for a few moments with Dan Snell,
our political analyst expert on politics and leadership, Dan Boy.
If you're hoping for a quiet news weekend, Dan, you
were well disappointed this morning.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
How are you, sir?

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Good morning, Good morning, Good morning, Mike. Great to be
with you and your Columbus listeners. Yeah, the news cycle
these days is every three or four hours in America,
not every three or four days. And there was all
you know, Ukraine last night had multiple largest air raids.
And you've got what's going on and with the budget bill,
and you've got Elon Musk and now we've got we've

(00:37):
got Los Angeles overnight. So it's an exciting times.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Let's talk about La for a minute, Dan.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
It started on Friday with some ice protests and moved downtown.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
It took a turn, It got violent.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
The rioters there were turning on you know, LAPD and
local police. The President Trump called the National Guard into
La County without the consultation or approval from California Governor
Gavin Newsom. Newsom's got a problem with it. He's trying
to sue Trump about it. Said that we would have
been just fine without the National Guard. I mean, it

(01:12):
doesn't matter. Now you've got the National Guard there. I
think you got to keep them there because who knows
what would happened if you pull them out.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Sure, absolutely, I think what's going on out there, whenever
you have people attacking law enforcement, or burning cars or
attacking buildings, you've got to have more than just regular
law enforcement. So I think the National Guard coming out
is a prudent thing, and the President Trump calling him
out is good. I think he and Gavin Newsom will
battle it out, I think in the media. But some

(01:42):
of this is historic. You know, the whole thing with
the border and immigration goes back decades that we should
have been addressing it, and so Donald Trump's dealing with
it a little more forceful nature. His only challenge, I think,
you know, God bless him, is that the words he uses.
I think you're doing absolutely the right thing to support
Los Angeles law enforcement when you use the word invasion.

(02:02):
And now this morning, the news is he wants to
use the Insurrection Act. All that does is stir up emotion,
and I think it's better to act like you've been
there before and just stay calm and say, hey, we
just want to maintain peace in our Los Angeles area.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yeah, I mean's a good point. We can.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
And that's one of the things with Trump is you
can always, you know, point to his forward facing the
words he uses, is his appearance, his optics, and so forth.
But when it comes down to it, as you point
out calling in the guard, he did it what I like.
It was decisive and that's what we've been lacking, especially
in places like Los Angeles where they can allow these
things to kind of bubble up and fester. It was decisive.

(02:41):
He didn't mess around and didn't wait. He called them
in and you know, now they're there, and it's you know,
these are not innocent immigrants looking for a better life
at this point. These are These are criminals, Bob and
you know Dan and they they they are professional, professional protesters.
You heard about this in twenty twenty, and it's it's

(03:03):
beyond now just some people making signs and you know,
carrying flags and so forth.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
It's gone violent and that's the problem.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Yeah, absolutely, you're right, Mike. In America, of course, you're
in Ohio. I grew up in the brath that live
in Kansas. Now and we've kind of taught by our parents,
and you don't disrespect law enforcement, you don't damage things.
And I think in some parts of the country, and
we've gotten whether they are paid protesters, we've gotten a
country that's gotten out of hand and we just think
it's okay to do things that are violent, and that's

(03:34):
just not acceptable. I think Donald Trump did take the
size of leadership there and did the right thing because
we need to we need to have a country that
we can feel safe, safe in and it's never any
good in any city to have that kind of violence
going on.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Yeah, and this all goes back to Trump's border policies
and deportations. I mean that the border has been cleaned
up tremendously. Border crossings are down ninety five percent the
southern border, and now you're getting you're finding these people
in these cities and you're sending them home. There's this
is why Trump was elected president. This is what people

(04:09):
voted for. And then I saw one of these stories
that you know, there are some issues with the immigration
some of the equipment they've got, I mean there's some
of the vehicles they have, the cameras and surveillance just
on out to snuff.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
What's have you heard much about that?

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Sure? Yeah, absolutely, and it's it's it's like one hundred
and sixty billion dollars overall for vehicles, and the biggest
thing is the forty six billion for building finishing the
wall and importantly cameras and lights and surveillance, surveillance sensors.
I think what he's doing with that money to me
and the whole big picture of this one big beautiful bill,

(04:46):
that's something we should look at and say, hey, absolutely,
we need to support the president because he's inherited. He's
inherited decades of poor management of the border, and frank
quite frankly, we got a point to Congress, Hey, they
need to address it from a standpoint of a new
immigration bill that really strengthens who we are as a
nation and how we receive people.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Political analyst Dan Snell joining me before I let you
fly a hand your thoughts on that. You mentioned it,
and it kind of looks silly now when you're looking
at a real problem in Los Angeles.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
But the little feud.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Between Trump and Elon Musk that cropped up, I mean
it started with Elon being critical of the big beautiful
bill and then going on to social media and you know,
lobbing shots back and forth, and Elon says that Trump's
on the Epstein list. Trump, you know, threatens to pull
government funding for Elon's SpaceX and it's going back and forth.

(05:39):
And my thought is, when it comes to the Trump
being on the Epstein list, wouldn't Democrats have have released
that or at least been for releasing that list if
they knew he was on it.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
Yeah, I think that probably because there's a lot of
names on there from both parties, candidates everywhere, that they
probably didn't use it back then. In the case of
the President and Elon, you got two giant egos there.
And you know, I wrote the book The Win some
candidate to try to talk a more wins approach to
how we deal with each other. And they're kind of
acting like a couple of youngsters in junior high and said,

(06:15):
if you say this, I'm going to say that, and
it doesn't It isn't a win for America, and especially
it damages, I think, to the whole office of the President.
I think he should just say what he said recently
is I'm not gonna I've got bigger, bigger things to
pay attention to. I'm not going to address Elon anymore.
