Speaker 1 (00:00):
On the Legacy Retirement Group dot com phone line. He
is our congressman in the fifteenth district here in Ohio.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
He's Mike Carriy. Mike, are you in Columbus or are
you in the swamp?

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Oh I'm in the swamp. But I'll tell you what
I just heard you. I had no idea that Jim passed. Yeah,
that you know, that's you know, you reached the agent
life when things start coming being taken away from you
instead of given things. And that, boy, I mean, I
just remember watching him for all those years, and boy,
I really hate to hear that.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Yeah, almost almost sixty years in broadcasting, whether it's a
radio and TV, and he was just one of the
good guys in central Ohio broadcasting. And yeah, we all
we all watched Jim and he was he was a
great member of our community here.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
So he will certainly be missed.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
So absolutely, absolutely really hate to hear that.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
I appreciate the kind words too, Mike carry Congressman Ohio's
fifteenth district. Now, we want to get into the budget process,
but I got to ask you, you know in the
news that we have the doege operation Elon Musk and
looking into a government fraud and waste. But you have
these these democrat, these liberal judges attempting to block the

(01:09):
effort to reduce fraud and waste in our federal government.
They're issuing these injunctions to drag their feet and slow
the process. This does not compute to me, Mike, I
thought we wanted our taxpayer dollars to be spent wisely.
We you know, looking for waste and fraud in the
government is is It seems such common sense. But you've

(01:29):
got people now who are they're protesting Doge. They don't
want we don't want to fight, we don't want to
find waste and fraud in the federal government. I mean,
you have Elon Musk lifting the carpet up and shining
a flashlight and the cockroaches are scrambling.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
What's the problem here?

Speaker 3 (01:45):
You know? I The thing is, I think you and
I and I think many of the people that are
listening this morning probably feel the same way. We've got to,
you know, lift up the carpet, as you said. But
but you know that you're gonna have another constituency that says, hey,
we got to slow slow this down. And but but
I think what's going to happen. Ultimately with what Dosee

(02:06):
is doing. We as members of Congress, many of the
things that they're doing, they're going to have to go
before Congress and get some type of congressional oversight on this.
And you know, we we talked about this yesterday with
many of the members. We'll we'll get there, I mean,
but you're just gonna always have that with with the

(02:27):
legal challenges from from the other side on this. I mean,
and look, it's it's tearing down h It's tearing down
a wall that they've had for you know, over sixty years,
and so it's going to be painful for them. But uh,
you know, I think we in Congress are going to
have the backs of what the present is going to
do and good so I'll we'll get there.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Well, And I know nothing moves fast in Washington, d C.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
I get that, but I mean, this is what this
is what we voted for, Mike, this is what largely
this audience voted for, and the majority of the country
voted for this. And when you see I'll just throw
a couple of things at you. I know you don't
have any specific answers right now, but when you hear
about FEMA spending over sixty billion dollars on housing illegal migrants.
You know, you have a homeless problem in this country,

(03:11):
American citizens who don't have a home, But yet you
have illegal immigrants staying in high end hotels in New
York City and that's ridiculous. That's ridiculous. Congress has to
do something. I'm not I'm not in your district. I
wish I was. I mean, I'm in Joyce's district unfortunately
for me, but you know, I probably can speak for

(03:32):
people in your in your district, your constituents.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
We've got to do something about that.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
I mean social Security sending out checks to dead one
hundred and fifty year old people.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Let me give you something. So we had the meeting
with the President last Thursday, so there were about twenty
of US members of Congress trying to get this budget
deal worked out and get his tax that's permanent. But
one of the things the Vice President was in there,
and believe it or not, this is one of the
things with so security because everybody talks about how bad

(04:03):
Social Security is, but there's actually somebody on the Social
Security roles right now who is one hundred and fifty
years old. All right now, and it gets better. There
are eleven people that are one hundred and thirty years
old that are I mean, and that's just a tip

(04:23):
of the iceberg. And that's what those is doing. They're
going through and they're saying, wait a minute, this can't
be right. But when you have somebody that's getting Social
Security benefits that's one hundred and fifty years old, and
you have eleven people that are getting out, you know,
I mean, and again it's anecdotal, but it is true.
I mean, these are true facts right now with what
they found. And so we got to keep going after

(04:46):
this stuff because the waste, the fraud, the abuse that's
going on to the American taxpayer is just not responsible.
And we got to back these folks up. And you
know what, the judges do what they're gonna do. We
in Congress will we'll have the back of the pres president.
We'll we'll get we'll correct this. Yeah, we'll correct good.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Good Mike Harry Ohio's fifteenth district. You've got to make
that happen, man, because it's just it's ridiculous. And people
that are opposed to Musk and doge I don't understand you.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
So you're telling me and we'll let this go.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
But when you bat, when you are are blocking them
and you're protesting, you're telling me that you're okay with
government fraud and government waste. That's just plan and simple.
So you're on the Budget committee. We do have a
budget process underway.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
What are we looking at?

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Well, we don't. We don't really know. We've got we've
got a committee at eight thirty this morning, we've marked up.
We'll hopefully have that done. You know, the thing that
I've told the Budget Committee is you and I talked before,
but you know, Ways and Means has we have three
seats that go onto the Budget Committee, and the chairman
wanted me to be on the budget committee. So we've

(05:51):
got to get the budget done which sets the parameters
in terms of spending, right before Ways and Means can
come in and kind of fill it in and say
where we're going to be. So, I mean, I think
we're going to probably get this done, hopefully in the
next twenty four forty eight hours, and then that allows
Ways and Means because you know, the President has been

(06:13):
very clear on the things that he wanted that you know,
he said no tax on tips. I mean that's one
of his one of his one of the things that
he made he said to you know, the American public
during his campaign. But he also wants to make his
tax cuts permanent. And so those are things that we're
going to be working on. I don't know where we
are right now. There are a lot of people that

(06:35):
want these massive cuts. I'm not sure that we're going
to get everything that some of the folks want. But
in the end, we've got to get the Presidence package.
That's what we're here to do. Get it done, move
it on to the Ways and Means Committee. We'll figure
things out. So hopefully, like you say, in the next
seventy two hours, hopefully we'll have a package.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
We want a small government, Mike. We want the government
to spend less. I want I want taxed less. And
it's really that simple. And you know, I think most
of Americans want that as well. I mean, if we
can operate a little leaner, a little meaner, eliminate the waste,
eliminate the fraud, it all makes sense to me.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
I'm on team common sense. That's what I've voted for
a congressman.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Yeah, I mean, I think the biggest thing I think
for all the listeners. I just want the phone number
for the person who's getting so security at one hundred.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Well, and then here's my question on that is like
were those checks being cashed or not? Because if if
they're not, doesn't somebody go, you know what, this check
hasn't been cashed in seventeen years and crazy if the
check has been been cashed, like who's taking advantage of
you know, great great grandma's you know, social Security check.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
It's unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
I mean, I was trying to I was trying to
do the math on that. If somebody's one hundred and
fifty years old still cashing checks ploy they I mean,
I just want to know what they've been eating for
breakfast
