Speaker 1 (00:00):
Six six Tuesday Morning, Mike Elliott, Columbus Morning News, and
let's check in with Rory O'Neil NBC News Radio on
the Legacy Retirement Group dot com phone line. Today's the
day Rory House votes on whether to release the Epstein
files or not. And I think we expect them to
actually pass this today, do.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
We we do? And it may actually be unanimous, believe
it or not. After all that, right, after all that
you had, you know, I mean, the allegations are the
House Speaker prevented the Arizona congresswoman from being seated so
that she wouldn't be there to sign this discharge petition
to be the swing vote that finally gets this issue
to come to the floor. Now the President made a

(00:40):
one to eighty on this Sunday night. Now he's saying,
go ahead, vote for it. I got nothing to hide.
And now it looks like this thing may pass the
House unanimously because no one wants to go on the
record as being for keeping these files seats.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Right, that's a really that's the optics on that, as
they say, aren't great. So you have to face a
lot of questions. So why did you vote to keep
this sealed up. That's a good point. Then, So it
passes the House today, and then what goes over to
the Senate that will they even hear this?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Well, that's where things get a little bit stuck in
the mud. But if it does pass nearly overwhelmingly, perhaps unanimously,
that's going to be an awful lot of pressure on
Speakers Thoon to bring this up for a vote, which
is not a guarantee. But keep in mind, the Justice
Department can just release these files period, They don't need
Act of Congress. But now that we've got the President saying,

(01:30):
I don't care release it. I'd rather move on from
this and talk about how great the economy is and
how great the investments, global investment is in the US.
That's what he wants to talk about. So the President
could just say, release the files and we're done with this.
So let's see what happens if the Senate does take
it up. There are a lot of members there that
don't want to go in the record either.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Is there any speculation as to why Trump did the
one to eighty. I mean, he's obviously confident that he's
not mentioned, but I'm sure he's got you know, associates, colleague, yeah,
other politicians, business leaders, and is he just going to say,
you know what, sorry, guys, I got to throw you
out there to protect my own political aspirations here.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Well, it's also a nose count, like he lost the vote.
They got the two eighteen. This was gonna happen. They
tried to bring Lauren Bobert into the situation room and
twist her arm, but she stood her guns and said no.
So she was going to sign the petition and bring
up this vote. So this small cadre of Republicans was insistent.

(02:31):
So essentially the president, seeing he's losing, switched teams and said, okay,
we're winning. I'm on the winning team.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Now that's

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
