sports grid dot Com. Hey, everybody, welcome to another edition

(00:21):
of Football Full Circle right here on the Grid. Mike Blewett,
George Kurtz coming at you with a bunch of NFL
stories and news and frankly, taking a look at a
few teams in the NFC West today and what we
think of their options to win games, win championships. We'll see,
um my favorite Kyler Murray will talk about in the

(00:41):
next segment, but we're gonna started off with the Seattle Seahawks. George.
Last year Cash on the Seahawks going over. I really
was bullish on them. I liked the team. Uh, they
got a superstar quarterback, one of the best two three
quarterbacks in the whole league. Some would be offended I
am even saying three because they think he's either the

(01:02):
best or right there with Pat Mahomes. But nonetheless, Seattle
Seahawks trying to see if they can get back to
the playoffs for another season. Uh, why don't you give
me your thoughts on the Seahawks generally, and then we'll
get into the odds a little bit, the schedule and
the question marks that we have about this team. Well,

(01:22):
my first do when when I think Seattle is Russell Wilson,
I think he's an amazing qutback. What I mean by
that is he does more with less. I mean you
look at it, all right, d K meccat that was
a nice Uh he felt them last year, actually felt
anybody could have me. He kept following in the draft
for various reasons. And uh, he's played better than expected, quick,

(01:44):
quicker than I expected him to be. This good with Seattle,
Tyler lock At my step threat there, but after that
field doorset and all right, yea, David Moore, ya, you
know a lot of you a tight ends, yeah, Greg
Ghost and maybe a whole of famer. But he's not
that player anymore. You know. They never really surround him
with top talent here and apparently also's gonna be a
number two announced it for whether Fox or CBS next

(02:06):
year or whatever. It is so good. Uh, maybe yes,
he is good. I'm thinking ESPN wishes they would have
pushed for him a little harder rather than Jason woulden.
We know that didn't work out there, so but I
said that he never Russell Wilson never has elite weapons. Never.
I mean, no one's confusing the locket or Metcalf for

(02:28):
Deandrew Hopkins, d Davante Ads or anyone even anywhere near
a wide receiver one at best their wide receiver two
is at best same thing. But also at this point
in his career, no one, he's not a tight end one.
He's not. He's broken down a little bit here. So
I guess I'm sort of jealous. I would have liked
to have known what he would do if he had

(02:49):
that talent. And he came Metcalf as a rookie on
a hundred targets is fifty eight catches for nine hundred
yards and seven touchdowns. That was really a very good
rookie season. Uh, and he performed in the playoffs as well.
I am not going to shut out his possibility of
being a number one wide receiver in the NFL. I

(03:11):
won't shut that out yet. But it has been rumored
they have been one of the teams rumored in the
Antonio Brown sweepstakes. Now, I don't know exactly what you're
going to get or if even if if it's even
a w if you win those sweepstakes, but uh, they
they do feel like a good match. If Antonio Brown
is just the football player, forget all the other stuff,

(03:33):
that would be a really good match. That would give
Russell Wilson tremendous weapons with a b dk metcalf. You've
got obviously a few backs there in Chris Carson, Rashot Penny,
uh and others that could potentially create a three headed
monster of running backs that will help Carlos Hide. They
signed as well. I think Carlos Hide is more Rashot

(03:55):
Penny insurance than Chris Carson insurance. That's my opinion. Ri
Shard Penny. We don't know if he's gonna get back
on the field for Week one, but Antonio Brown seems
like this is the best spot for him. I don't
know if he'll selected. I mean a couple of things
about Brown. You couldn't work it out in New England, right,
you couldn't do it Tom and Bill. I don't know

(04:16):
how much better it gets with Russell and beat Also,
how many games are getting suspended I don't know, has
to be at least eight. Do you think how many
things he got going against him now? In the harassment
charge and he beat up somebody, they just pleaded no
contest to whatever. It was, all right, So he's got
that issue to worry about. There were other things going on.

(04:37):
Everything we still on film on you know, on Twitter
or snapchat in again he saw old the stuff here.
I mean, I can't see how it's not eight. But
then again, we're in a different climate nowadays too. Maybe
it's maybe it isn't. I don't know, but I think, uh,
it wears his head at There's no way I'm bringing
this guy into my team. I'm just not. I don't
want to go through the headaches that's all going on.

(04:57):
He's he destroys teams over and over again. We're all
for three, so fall how many times you need to
be hit over the head with. It's not gonna work
until you get it. What do he on the field?
Of course, he helps any team, any team, But I'm
not going through all that drawn with Antonio Brown. But
that being said, it would give probably give Russe Wilson
his best wide receiver ever, right, I definitely, I mean

(05:18):
I don't want to knock Doug Wogan, who was a
very good professional. But Antonio Brown is better, right, so
it would give him that. But I just don't know
if I want to go with the headache here. But
I said, what would hang over me is what is
the suspension? I mean maybe it's high, but I just
can't see how. How's it four? How can it only
be four? Ze Eliot got six? We do this? What

(05:40):
was that? Ezekiel Elliott got six? Yeah? Yeah, we we
end up relitigating this, this suspension policy every time something
comes up. It's why I hate it. If it's a
domestic violence thing, we said, it's six games, with the
right to go up higher than that. If it isn't that,
it's his contract to conduct detrimental to the league. That's

(06:05):
that is nebulous. Yeah, that is nebulous. So I get it,
it's you know, four, I don't know it. I'm with you.
He'd be a headache, But from a football perspective, it
feels like it would be a good match. So let's
get into their odds a little bit. To win the
Super Bowl to one plus to win the NFC ten

(06:27):
to one the NFC West. You're at plus two forty
the Niners, like I said earlier, plus one hundred, so
they are in between the Rams and the Niners. The
wind total, well, let me do the playoffs first. To
make the playoffs minus to the yes, no, plus one
oh six and the wind total over under is nine

(06:51):
and a half minus one forty two the under. So
that's actually relatively heavy juice on this team that won
eleven games last year. People are saying more, people are
saying than not. That ain't happening. They're not even gonna
win ten games, so expecting a two game regression in
order for them not to hit it. I'll say this

(07:11):
not everybody's his biggest fan, and I have major frustrations
about the way in which Russell Wilson has used and
will give you some russells and stats from last year.
Let's see how he ran the ball. Seventy five carries,
three yards, three touchdowns. Not that aggressive, right, it's a
few carries per game. Ah. His passing stats, if you

(07:35):
can get them right here, here we go, played all
sixteen games, obviously, sixteen completion percentage yards, thirty one touchdowns,
five picks, eight point seven average yards per attempt. He
had a QB rating of one oh six and he
took forty eight sacks. Now, he does try to extend plays.

(07:59):
It is not his fault that he gets sacked as
often as he does, but a little bit of it
is because he's trying to extend place. But nobody would
ever say, hey, Russell, like you got to cut it
out with the sacks. That's not what this is about.
He gets sacked forty eight times because the offensive line
isn't that good and it's better, way better than it
used to be. They're staring at Dwayne Brown right now.

(08:21):
I'll give it to you, Dwayne Brown ethan postage. They
signed b J. Finney from Pittsburgh, Phil Haines, Cedric abu Hay,
who was a former high draft pick. They drafted an
offensive lineman this year. They've got a little bit more
depth than they've had in years past. He'd probably call
them a middle of the road offensive line, which is
why he receives pressure in the way that he does.

(08:44):
But he also is able to avoid getting hit like
anybody else in the league, and he still got sacked
almost fifty times. Yeah, I mean, I agree with you.
I wouldn't knock Russell Wilson. I think they are odd
times where he has to realize throw the ball away. Yeah,
it's it's okay to have you know what, maybe not
on third down, which's okay to throw the ball away,
Raven and take that seven yard stack the eight yards stack. Uh,

(09:06):
you don't. Not. Not every place is gonna work, you know. Not.
Every place is a design is designed to be a
big place. Sometimes the defense hasn't covered, you know, throw
the ball away. Live to fight another day. Uh, that
sort of thing there. But that they said, no, no
one's knocking Russell Wilson. I agree with you about the
eventsive line. You know, if it is probably average now,
which is saying something because it was poor for quite
a long time there. You would like the sacks to

(09:28):
come down. Is three a game? That's an issue there.
You look at them, and I look at their schedule here.
They have to survive the first half. It's hard. They
had a tough schedule last year, so it's kind of
weird two years in a row. They were able to
survive it last year. But you're right, I'll let you
go through it. Go ahead. This is a team that

(09:48):
always seems to manage to win, right, We always think
we never going to give them the credit they deserve,
which is yeah, I didn't even finish my point before
I was about to say I have. First three is
about the manner in which Russell Wilson has used to
I actually think they should throw more. Carol has always
been dedicated to the run. But I actually think he's
a really good coach. They've been good for a long time.

(10:11):
Doesn't mean they won multiple super Bowls, and I know
they should have won two instead of the one that
they have, but they've been a highly competitive team from
the second Russell Wilson walked in there. Now it's because
of him that they're so good. But I do think
Carol is a good coach. Not perfect, but I think
he's a good coach. I'd rather have him than a
lot of other guys out there that are at the
helm of teams. So sorry I interrupted you. I agree

(10:34):
with you there. I mean I think they they have
a culture of winning there that that's helped out there. Uh.
They are strange though, and that one of the few
NFL teams that doesn't build a team around their star. Right,
Russell Wilson is their stuff. But as you said, they's
running the ball too much when they lost the Dallas
in the playoffs two years ago. In that first hand,
they kept running into the line, running into the line,
running into the line and playing and they did nothing.

(10:57):
Second half, they let Russell Wilson play and most of
must always pulled out that win. He was throwing dimes
all over the place. Was fair. That's the game. Is
the perfect example of what's wrong with the way they
run things. It's the perfect example. Last year they had
a league off The offense scored top ten in yards
and UM points scored, and they threw the twenty three

(11:21):
most times in the league. They're doing that despite not
throwing it that much. I can only tell you this,
if you're an old school football fan, it's over, Johnny.
You gotta throw. If you're gonna be really good, you
gotta throw the ball downfield. That's how it works now.
And if you've got the fact that they are a

(11:42):
top ten offense despite not throwing it that much, is crazy.
They had the third most rushing attempts in the league.
Part in part because they were winning, obviously, but it
also is a big part of their offense. As you said,
it's it's just strange. I don't understand that. Generally you
have a you have a superstar quarterback or running back, whatever,
why would see you play that guy's strengths. They seem
to do the opposite. Yeah, and they I've always said

(12:05):
for a few years, he said that they want to
play close games and rely on Russell Wilson have pulled
out in the end, you know, do some magic Russell
and win this game for us. Whether it's during place
of the dirt behind the line, there goes, oh you
want to run here than over here here, I'll eventually
find somebody open, you know. That's that's the one thing
is Antonio Brown would be there. He wouldn't have to
do that. There'd be somebody open. Nowadays, I think he
has to wait. You know, if a lot get to

(12:26):
run that deep patter, Metica have to get himself over.
They don't have the weapons there. You look at their schedule,
I mean first couple of games Atlanta, New England, Dallas, Miami, Minnesota,
three at home, two on the road. I mean Miami game.
You should be able to win, even though it's in Miami.
Atlanta is tough. They come back from the break, Arizona,
San fran Buffalo, I mean, I don't see eleven wins here.

(12:47):
I don't see it. I think I would go the
under as well. The ending gets easy, Jets, Giants, Washington's
in there, and then they finish up with two division games,
Rams and forty Niners. But they're gonna be They're gonna
be a good team. I got them going to the
Mails again. That's stretch at Arizona, hosting the Niners at
Buffalo and at the Rams. That's a tough stretch coming
off the by that there will they'll have to survive.

(13:09):
We'll come back, We'll wrap up this and then talk
about the Cardinals. On the other side. It's Mike and

like better, don't send hate mail to have Sports Grid.

(13:53):
Please do not. I will get in trouble at George Kurtz.
He receives the hate mail for the entirety of the company.
I'm at Mike Blewett, So please feel free to send
all your positive vibes my way. So it's a vote
on the hate mail thing. Now, since I wasn't there
that I gotta looked at for the hate mail. And

(14:14):
it's not only for this show now, it's for the
whole company. Our producer, Brianrokowski, actually was his idea, so
I just went along with it. I'm just a talking head.
I don't come up with the big ideas. So it's
so nice and quiet. The one time he speaks up,
that's great. Uh So we're gonna wrap up the Seahawks
and we'll go right into the Cardinals. Um So, I
think they're a fun team to talk about. But Seattle,

(14:37):
like you said, that first five game stretch Atlanta, New England, Dallas, Miami, Minnesota,
that's like a two and three, three and two kind
of gauntlet. Some good teams in there. Um. Then it's
at Arizona, San Francisco at Buffalo at Los Angeles coming
out of the botty by relatively early in Week six,
they play Arizona again that is a Thursday night or
they get Arizona at home. That's they're one of their

(14:59):
primetime games. And they actually have an oddly long break,
so they play a Thursday night home game. Then they
have like twelve days off, and then they play a
Monday night er against Philly. The eleven days off against
Philly at Philly. That's gonna be a tough game. Then
they get the Giants and Jets both in Seattle, so

(15:20):
that's a quirky schedule situation. Then it's at Washington close
against the Rams, and at San Francisco. It's a tough
one to end the season. But that stretch there could
help them George in that they get a Thursday night
or against Arizona. They get at Philly, which isn't great,
but then the Jets and Giants both come to see them.

(15:42):
Their next road game is at Washington. We don't expect
any of those teams to have winning records. Then they
get a home game against l A. That's sort of
six games stretch. While some of the teams are pretty good,
I think it favors them in the lack of travel
and the softer teams. Yeah, but man, they do a
lot of zig zigging across the country. They always do.

(16:04):
They travel more than every other team in the league.
It's rough way, there's nothing you can do there. You're
on the Upper Northwest, You're gonna have to move there. Uh.
The New York the New York thing, We've seen that
a couple of times this year now, Mike, right, where
either you're playing back to back games in New York,
or you're back, or you have them back to back
at your home stadium. I think the Giants might have
like back to back l A games something crazy like that.

(16:27):
There's been a few back to back scenarios like that
which will probably might lead to I mean, in any
other scenario, the teams might stay out there. I don't
know what they're gonna want to do now. Yeah, it's uh,
that's right, you don't hasn't been if that state is
how how good that state is a COVID at that
point in time, we don't want to stay in California
right now. I don't know. I would not want to
go anywhere near California. I know, Dane Marteas and I've

(16:50):
been joking that, you know, applies more to baseball. But
if you're thinking about, you know, taking some time off,
you see your teams going on at that California Swing,
when you gotta play three California teams, maybe I don't
feel so a shoulders hurt and I'll take that that
time off. Yeah, Paula Hammy, you know, I can't can't
disprove it. So no, I don't think we're gonna see
that as much in football, but I do wonder it's

(17:10):
going to be a little bit of that where I said,
I don't want to go to Arizona. It's terrible right now.
I don't want to go to Florida. I don't want
to go to Texas, you know, because of what's going
on there. Covid was. I do think we'll see that
to some degree. That's what scheduled for Seattle. It's weird,
you know. Uh, it seems to me it's tough at first,
and then it's tough after the bar, but then it's
it's easier to close out. And then of course we

(17:31):
got that at San fran game last game in the season,
and I was hoping that game means pretty much everything
again like it did last year, with two fun games
to watch here. It's not like I think this team
makes the playoffs, but I don't think they're gonna win
eleven games, nine tens, probably more in the h area
of what I like for them. But I always discount
every year. I know I discount this team that I

(17:53):
don't see how they can win the games they do
because the talent that's on the roster, But they always
managed to win those games that make the playoffs there
once they get there. Yeah, I had them over in
cash last year. For them to have to go back
double digit wins, I probably lean and saying that they
can do it. But I don't think it's a bet
that I'm going to run back to the window for
this year, running my phone wherever I happen to be

(18:14):
placing the bat. But I would be willing to even
paying a little bit of juice, yes minus, to make
the playoffs. That's interesting to me. That that is interesting
to me, you know, in terms of a longer shot,
I wouldn't call him the long shot to win the
NFC attend to one. I don't know, George, like, if
they get into the playoffs, Russell can make things happen.

(18:37):
You just talked about how he was a money player.
You know, Um, I don't know that that that is
appealing to me with those odds, But you know, I
don't know that would rank them at the top of
the league at the moment. No, I know what I
do my little personal thing. I haven't bet nine wins.
You know, right there said they're right there. You know,
obviously a gay could go that way and they beat

(18:58):
a more game can go and they lose a game here.
I know, I think that they could be a dangerous
team in the playoffs because of that that final room
where you're playing Giants Jets Washington, you get very hot,
very quickly. They're taking care of business there before you
play the Rams at home. And they're a great team
the forty nine. And we'll see how that works out there.
Russell Wilson does, he pulls magic out, he wins, gains

(19:22):
the spite of the team, to spite of what pet
Carroll does. Maybe they open it up more this year
and let Russell be Russell. I think that they did.
I'd probably have a lot more confidence in them, But
I think they're gonna make some mistakes here, run the
ball too much, take the ball out of their best
players hands. But something I don't understand. I think Chris
Carson will be fine. You know. I do worry him
somewhat injury prone. Someone puts the ball on the ground here,

(19:42):
but he is a top running back when healthy. I
think his team will be in the mix, but not
as well, certainly not for the boy the overall. By week,
I think they're in the mix for a wild card.
I think San fran does win with division. Okay, we're
gonna flip quickly over to the Arizona Cardinals, where my
guy Kyler Murray is leading the way. Let's talk about

(20:03):
their odds real quick to win the Super Bowl plus
five thousand to win the NFC, plus to win the
NFC West plus nine hundred. Uh win total is at
seven flat minus one fifteen and the over is not
a ton of jews on either side of the moment.
To make the playoffs, yes, plus two forty no minus
three ten. That is pretty interesting to me to look

(20:25):
at some of their stats. Last year. When you start
looking at the team stats, they were thirty two thirty
second in the league in yards allowed defensively and points
scored on them. Uh, they gave up the most first downs,
they had the most nearly the most passing attempts in
most yards. Their past defense was a mess, and I

(20:45):
don't know that the defense is in any way fixed.
They add Isaiah Simmons, who could be a game changer. Clearly,
Chandler Jones is there. They signed guys like Devondre campbell Um.
They have decent talent on the off pensive and excuse me,
in the defensive backfield. But this team to me is
really obviously all about Kyler Murray. I was one who

(21:09):
was for years talking about my lack of faith in
Big twelve quarterbacks. I think because of the significant rule
changes in play that have occurred over the last five
to ten years, even really George, in the last five years.
It is allowed teams that run these wide open sets

(21:31):
and these Big twelve quarterbacks that are constantly playing against
defenses that don't really stop anybody. I think the NFL
has moved that way. I don't think defense is as
poorous as it is in the Big twelve, but it
does allow guys to move freer, and it is allowing
quarterbacks like this to develop and their skill sets along

(21:51):
with the rule changes in the NFL have come along
at a perfect time. Pat Mahomes, Kyler, Biker Mayfield, whatever
you think of him, he had a good season. Uh.
And I just think I think that's why we're going
to see these big twelve quarterbacks now start to have success.
Where it's five years ago I would have said it's
not working out. It makes sense that you don't not

(22:12):
everyone needs a Lamar Jackson, a guy who's an incredible
athlete and run all over the place, But you need
someone who can get out of the pocket. You know,
I don't know if we're gonna see any more Tom
Brady's in the NF. I think it's gonna be rare
to see a guy who's just a three five seven
foot you know where he's going to be. You know.
Defensive life is just drafted one. Yeah, they might have,
and that's gonna hurt his his chances of success. Just

(22:35):
the statue back there. Defensive lineman love it when they
know exactly what you're gonna be. Right. Generally, it's gonna
be hard to work. Every rule is designed for a
moving quarter Like, you can't hit him right, You can
barely touch these guys. So I think Murray's gonna have
a big season. I do. I'll get the schedule. The
schedule plays it nicely to them. I don't know if
they can compete for our playoff spot. The division is rough.

(22:56):
It really is rough, and I think that the biggest problem.
I think if you put this team in NFC North,
I did think it very division title, more or less
a playoffs, but there they would be in the wild
card hunt there. But I think they'll just missed there
this year. I like their drefte I like what they did.
Players fell to them that we didn't expect to. I
think they did well. They're a year behind them before
they truly become a playoff threat in the NFC West.

(23:19):
Kyler last year's sixty four point four percent, thirty seven
dred and twenty two yards, twenty touchdowns to twelve picks,
eighty seven point four rating. He was a rookie. He
played all sixteen games and he did that. It is
certainly something to build on. I need to make some
better decisions. He took forty eight sacks last year. You

(23:41):
mentioned his athleticism. Uh, not everybody is Lamar Jackson, but
Kyler Murray's athleticism is pretty damn impressive. He ran the
ball ninety three times for five d forty four yards
last year four touchdowns, so his touchdown total is really
twenty four, not twenty. You gotta give him credit for
those as well. If he's able to run him in
at the way in the manner that he runs them in,
I'm going to give him credit. My favorite bet for

(24:03):
the Cardinals, Like I, I don't think it's bold to
expect them to win the division. We do every year
see teams. I think it's fifteen of the last seventeen
years we've seen a team go worse to first. They
would be one of those. Um, I don't see it.
I think there's too much in their way, but I

(24:24):
would not actually be completely stunned. I just don't think
the depth of their team is as good as the
Niners and the Seahawks. But if the Niners, dealing with
the Super Bowl hangover and Seattle schedule is a little tough,
maybe Arizona is able to pull it off. My favorite
bet for the Cardinals, though, I think the yes plus
two forty to make the playoffs is interesting because if
things go the way I think they're gonna go, maybe

(24:45):
that's interesting, but my favorite bet is Kyler Murray Offensive
Player of the Year. It's thirty two to one. I
think he can make a big leap here. He's got
DeAndre Hopkins on the team now he wasn't there a
year ago. DeAndre Hopkins, uh, Christian Kirk, Larry Fitzgerald, Andy
Isabella at Keen Butler like this is a deep receiving

(25:06):
corps with all different types of talented guys and at
an air raid offense with Cliff Kingsbury that's perfectly suited
for Kyler Murray. They drafted a quarterback and then said,
you know what, this isn't good enough for what I
want to run. We've got Kyler now, and I think
I think the stars aligned for him. It doesn't mean
I don't think they're gonna they're on the path to
the super Bowl. But I think Kyler Murray at thirty

(25:27):
two one is one of my favorite bets of the
whole NFL season. I'll be taking it. It went down
at one points back up to thirty two to one,
so I've said my piece on Kyler. I think he's
a star in the making and I think this could
be a big breakout year. Even though he was really
good as a rookie. I agree with you, but all
the bets we could possibly make, I like Murray as well.

(25:47):
I also think they're gonna be because the deft is
still at best. I did to be a lot of
high screening games here, they're gonna have to put the
ball in the air. He's in a strong running game
at Kenyan and Drake lets we think he does that.
He helped the offense blind in the draft. I like
what they've done here. I like color what I call
it that bet on color Murray as well, books aren't
why not? I don't think supposed to lose there. If

(26:08):
I had to make a bet on one of the
ones that we talked about, it's tough. You mented during
the break, you wish the overrun there was six and
a half. If it was, I would take that. I'll
still take the over run the seven wins. I like
this plays out well to them. Yeah, I agree. So
we'll come back. We'll talk a little bit more NFL

with George talking about the New York Giants. Get excited,

(26:53):
Get excited? Yeah, Joe Judge, what do you got for us? Buddy?
Daniel Jones year two. That's obviously what it's all about.
I mean, it is funny because you can really start
any conversation about any NFL team, like, let's see how
the quarterbacks doing Chiefs. It is pretty much Chiefs and

(27:14):
Ravens are like the only the Chiefs are really the
only team that you're like, all right, we're not really
worried at all about the QB the Ravens. As great
as it was, even some people are like, huh, that
was kind of a dud in the playoffs? What was
up with that? So yeah, right, so even people who
have question marks about that, even though I think it's

(27:35):
a little silly um to be honest, I don't think
it's a trend yet for me. I know too it's
allegedly a trend, it isn't for me. But with the Giants,
it's really about the new head coach and the marriage
of the quarterback? How successful is that going to be? Right?
We've just got done talking about the Cardinals. I think
the marriage of Cliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray is going

(27:57):
to be a fruitful one. I don't know about this
one with Joe Judge, mainly because if I'm being honest,
I don't really know that much about Joe Judge. We're
learning more about him as we go, but he wasn't
when we sat here talking about head coach candidates. We
weren't like, how about that guy? How about the guy
from the Mississippi State alum? You know, we'll, well, how

(28:19):
about how about Joe Judge? Pull him off of the
receiving out of the receiving room in New England. That's
that's the first guy you're thinking of. He's not even
the first assistant coach on New England that I thought
was going to get a job, and he got one.
So anyway, so that's really the big questions for the GMT.
Can Daniel Jones continue to move the ball, continue to

(28:40):
improve as a player. We saw some good things, we
saw some maybe I don't know, but people like him
for fantasy purposes he So you're George, because the defense
still isn't fixed, and I think he's gonna put the
ball up in the air a lot. Yeah. I mean
we talked about Joe Judge. He's got the same problem
that so many teams have, not the best offseason to
have a new oas new system and put in place

(29:01):
here right because he had no camps. But we all
know that training camp looks like it's going to be delayed.
It might be the label. See how that plays out there,
so hard for that. But as you keep saying, and
you're absolutely correct, his job is to fix Daniel Jones.
Jones look fine throwing the ball down the field. The
problem was he had hunnel vision because he could not
see the rush from either side. Million times. That wasn't

(29:23):
because he kept geting. Whenever he got hit from either side,
he fumbled. He couldn't sense it or couldn't see it.
I guess it was. It says, how you want to
look at this. You could be the outfits and going, well,
he has his eyes focused down the field. That's good.
He's not afraid of taking a hit, that's true. Problem
is every hit he took, ball is on the ground
and people go going for So that's got to be fixed.

(29:45):
You you're waiting for every game. When is it Daniel
Jones fumble coming? They lost sixteen fumbles last year. That
is the most in the league. I've ember talking with
doing the football frenzy with Jim Day. We would joke
that he needed side view mirrors, you know, so he
could see there and say, oh, yeah, the rushes on me,
maybe I should throw the football. I like to thick
mic that with experience, he'll know to get rid of
the bull a little a little stone. He'll know to

(30:06):
feel the rush, know where it's coming from. He has
the arm, you've seen that, and he's got good weapons.
We all know. Balk there's old world, right, he's fine. Shepherd, Tate,
Slayton came on. That's a solid group there. I'm not
there's no true number one there. Tate's what of a
slot guy? Shepherd slightly you're outside there. It's a solid
group and Groom just needs to stay healthy and I

(30:26):
think he could be a top eight tight end of
the leader. Go back to golden tape for a second.
What does that guy gotta do to get respect? Oh
he's not. You put her typically, you know he's not
He's not built like you know Hopkins Adams, or he
doesn't have the mouth of a Beckham to really get
that thing. He's a good, solid wide receiver. Yeah, And

(30:47):
it seems just keep moving on from him, Seattle, Detroit, Philly,
Like everybody just keeps moving on from Golden Tan. I'm
like in my fantasy Percy Harvard, all right, and I
think that's why, See how I may have moved on. Well,
it wasn't it, Baldwin. He first year, haven't had a
lot of issues, but there was a fight with Golden
Tate and I think the Super Bowl, I believe it

(31:09):
was if I remember correctly, Percy Herman Harvon has come
out and admitted like he had a lot of mental
issues going on. He was self medicating with marijuana before
like every game that he played. So like, I'm not
saying punching the guy out is the best way to
handle things, but you may have deserved it. Trying to say,
I mean, I don't know what he did. I'm saying

(31:31):
I don't. I don't. I don't think he was just
sitting there minding his own business and Golden Tate attacked him.
That's not the way it works out in the locker
rooms are funky places, and guys get on each other's nerves.
And the one guy's high all the time, and you're
working trying to win a super Bowl and you know
that he's high, then you might get upset. I get
a little angry, all right, So well, there's a tap.

(31:51):
Bottom lines. I wouldn't mind take on the football on
my football team. I agree he's a good player, cowboy fan.
If he would be side with Dallas, I have been
thrilled with a Giants the only offense besides Daily Jones,
you worry about the offensive line. Nate Solder not a
good year last year. He's like, oh that's big not money. Yeah,
I am trying to be nice. Yeah. Part of the
reason why Dayla Jones probably wasn't looking to his left

(32:12):
as he got thoughts Solder would have him locked down.
He did not. You know, that's a huge thing right there. Yeah.
They have other issues as well there, but that's gonna
be fixed. I keep saying again, you want a young
quarterback to feel safe in the pocket. You know the contract,
I'm reading the defense getting the bull out on time.
You don't want the contract and you know, getting crushed
by some Georgian anti pound lineman doing you know, four

(32:33):
or four forties. So I think that's an issue there
as well. To make sure the offensive line, which is
better than it wasn't past years, but still not quite. No,
it's no more than average offensive line right now. Yeah,
so uh, let me do the Giants odds. We got
here in front of me, g Man to win the
Super Bowl plus eight thousand. Lets it's gonna be honest, folks.

(32:56):
The Giants odds are long across the board to win
the Super Bowl plus eight thousand. To win the NFC
plus four thousand. Only Washington's odds are longer. To win
the NFC East plus nine hundred. Again, only Washington's odds
are longer. Uh. The win total is a flat six

(33:17):
minus one fifteen to the over to make the playoffs
plus three eight uh, and no is minus five fifty
six games. Let's go through this. I'm curious, yeah, they
I mean, look, they're not winning a lot of games.
They won four games last year and they were terrible.
They won four last year? Can they push on the sixth?
Let's see. They open it up against the Pittsburgh Steelers

(33:39):
Monday night. The early Monday night game to open up
the season at Chicago week two, then hosting the Niners
week three at Los Angeles, and playing in Sofi Stadium
at Dallas for hosting Washington, all right, I'll give you

(34:01):
a split with you have them Owen six. They got
they got a shot against Chicago. I don't think that's
necessarily a definite lost there against the Bears in week two.
It is the Bears home opener, which may not mean
anything this year with no fans, so we may not
care about where you're playing, but they've got a shot there, right,
So Washington, so you got to maybe two and four
here at Philly on a Thursday night, or it's not

(34:25):
I mean there's no fans. It's it's not even I
mean that's a bus ride. You don't even have to
go anywhere. It's like it takes like Tampa Bay on Monday,
November second, that Giants get to host him Monday nighter,
Tom Brady coming back. Hey, Tom Brady doesn't do well

(34:45):
against the Giants, who knows, maybe something weird will happen
in that game as well. We're giving the Giants like
Jets attitude, like this is the type of laughing that
goes on when people discuss the Jets and the Giants
are getting it now from both of us. They how
the mighty have allan Uh. Then they at Washington and
then host to Philly. So they got Washington a couple

(35:06):
of times before the bye week. Those first ten games,
they got Washington a couple of times. They got Chicago.
M hm, yeah, you're talking things go well, if you
beat Washington, twee Chicago, you could win. You could have
three games, but that means you beat Washington twice and
you beat Chicago on the road, You're probably looking more
at two wins. This is not good. Uh, let's see

(35:28):
if they can close strong Cincinnati out of the out
of the by at Cincinnati, but Cincinnati out of the
bye week, and there's the last win. Enjoy at Seattle
hosting Arizona, hosting Cleveland at Baltimore, Yikes, hosting Dallas. Dallas
gonna need that game. Baltimore is gonna need that game.

(35:49):
Cleveland probably be involved. Still, the thing is that you
should be the Cleveland could be the powder keg team. Again.
That just it blows up all over again. I can't
sign off on Cleveland in the way that some people
are signing off of them. I actually think they'll be better.
It can't be worse, but I think they'll be better, um,
more organized, less disrupted this year Cleveland, and you know,

(36:13):
they went six and ten last year. It was a terrible,
miserable failure for them, but they weren't a three win
team Cleveland. UM, So like if Cleveland's an eight and
eight team, maybe that's a coin flip game for the Giants.
I'll give the Giants this because I think the offense
is good and I think they they're gonna thirty five points.
I think they'll win a couple of games that we

(36:34):
said no to because that that'll be a day when
the offense is clicking and the defense shows up right,
because the den is terrible. Defn says issues all over
the places games. They signed James Bradberry for a million dollars,
the other quarterbacks a million dollars. I meant to say
a billion. They signed him for like sixty and a
half million dollars a year. He is not that caliber

(36:55):
of quarterback. The other cornerback. I'm not sure if you're familiar,
folks with what's going on with DeAndre Baker. It's all
bad all of it. It's a long story, all bad. Yeah,
he's charged with assault with a deadly assault with a
deadly weapon, armed robbery. Now he's been recorded as having

(37:17):
paid off the witnesses that disappeared in the case. He
paid him off right because he went to the A
t M and got the thirty thousand and fifty thou dollars.
This is that is like two segments and I can't
we don't have time right now. But that's not going
well for them. They signed Blake Martinez during the off
season for another overpay for sure, his teammate Kyler Facrol Uh,

(37:39):
they paid for him. Dexter Lawrence not that impressive as
a rookie. Lendard Williams is on the franchise tag and
they overpaid in a trade for him. So um is
the defensive talent better than it was a year and
two years ago? Absolutely? And can Joe Judge be the
coach that brings it all together? Entirely possible. But to

(38:00):
get this team to seven wins in the division that
they play in and the schedule that we just went through,
I can't do it. I think their best at best
a push. And if I give Joe judge a lot
of credit. I think he gets them to six and ten.
That's a two to win bump, uh improvement over the
year before other things would have to go wrong. Dallas

(38:21):
or Philly would have to fall apart. I actually don't
expect that from either of them, so I just don't
see it. I can't get them to seven. No way
I get them the five. I can get him the five.
I said, they win with the games they should win,
or they're at least equal with the team to Washington games, Cincinnati,
maybe the Chicago game, and they'll pull out another game
or two, you know, because the officite score thirty five

(38:43):
points in the defense only let's up seven that day.
I could see that, you know. I definitely could maybe
beat Arizona. You mentioned Cleveland. Those are games are as possibilities.
But to get the seven, everything has to go their way.
They have to win every game they possibly can. Arizona
annihilated them last year in their own building. I don't
I said, I don't see it happening. Yeah, but I

(39:03):
have the underham pretty strong, so yeah, Daniel Jones will
give you one other fun one. Daniel Jones regular season
passing yards thirty he's got to get to thirty d
I like that too. I think he crushes that. Yeah,
I think so too. I think last year, I'm looking
at let's see what we canna find it three thousand,
twenty seven yards last year, and he was a mess

(39:26):
at times as a rookie. I think I think he
does crush that. I'm with you, I think it's the
four thousand yards, So that's probably your best bet. Daniel
Jones over passing yards, Georgia and I'll be right back

producer Brian Rikowski dominating per usual and made a great
point during the break about the Giants that those guys
James Bradbury, Blake Martinez, some of the other signs they've
made are the types of players you signed when you're
on the precipice of like, let's just fill these final
holes and make a run at the title. But now

(40:31):
they spent all this money and we don't even think
they're gonna win six games. George, Now I said, I
don't think the Giants are a hopeless team. They have
some pieces in plays I did. I think Daniel Jones
will be a solid quarterback. He got the Kuan Barkley,
but Brad Berry and even you look at his ratings,
he wasn't that good. Why are you paying sixty million
with shocking You know, I think he's a solid corner

(40:52):
but he's not. I don't view it was a number
one cornerback. You know, this guy who's a couple of
mother to somebody else, Blake Martineze. You already explained. He's
a guy who had everything funnel to him. He's not
super athletic. He's not Bobby when he's not Ray Lewis,
who's gonna elevate the team on his back to the
next level. Not those kinds of players. Uh, you have
needs to get it. I didn't like either signing. Not

(41:12):
for the money that I like. I don't mind the players,
but for the money that you spent on them. It
was a little silly. Yeah, And I think sometimes we
overreact and say, what did you do this one signing
for I understand that there's a path to rebuilding a team.
It's like draft. It's free agency draft, free agency draft.
In those two free agency periods and two draft periods,

(41:32):
you can overhaul the team. You're not gonna hit on
all of them, but you can overhaul the team in
a significant way. But I would suggest that Dave Gentleman
has been there for a few cycles and I don't
know that the team is markedly better than it was.
It's better, but I mean there were three win team. Yeah,
they were a three win team, then they were a
four win team. Like, how long we're going to take

(41:53):
to do this? So anyway, it's all about Daniel Jones,
and I think Kwan could have a good year. We
didn't really talk about him much, but um, I think
the addition of Andrew Thomas helps. Again, the offensive line
will still need some tweaking as they keep going through
the upcoming seasons. So fun story to talk about, but

(42:13):
first we I'll set up the fun story with saying
this that the Buffalo News reporting here that the New
Era name is to be dropped from Bill's Stadium. It
seems like there was a mutual parting of the ways.
I would imagine this might have something to do with
the economy. The you know, the sagging economy at the moment.

(42:35):
Regardless of what you think of the Dow Jones Industrial
Average on a daily basis, there's obviously a lot of
people are out of work in some companies are suffering,
particularly those that are New Era, which is based in
people going shopping for you know, having a little extra
dispensable income and spending on those goods. So anyway, they're

(42:55):
dropping the name from the stadium. I'm not really crying
tears over this, George. The corporate names you and I
forget them half the time because they've changed half a
dozen times. I bet we if we sat here and
really tried, maybe we'd get half Okay, I think that
think it's generous. Yeah, I know it's hines Field, although

(43:17):
it may not even be hines Field for long. We
know MetLife Stadium because we live near it. But new
Ara Field, I do remember that one, but they're dropping it.
But the fun part of the story is as reported
by Darren ravel Tushi you know what Tushy is, George.
It's a brand name. It's not I'm not asking what
part of the body it is, but it's a brand

(43:39):
name of a company. Would you guess what Tushy does? Well,
I know what you told me before the show, so yes,
I would have not have guests if you didn't tell
me no, right, So, a statement from Mike Aggrawall, the
founder of Tushy. Orchard Park is the crown jewel of
the New York sporting landscape, boy Isn't and one of
the great environments football. The city houses the stadium for

(44:03):
the Buffalo Bills, and maybe more importantly, is home to
the Bills Mafia. The fans are part of Bill's mafia,
love their traditions and possess a continued fondness for them.
This includes drinking alcohol out of bowling balls, jumping through tables,
spring catch upon each other. Where the news that New
Era is dropping naming rights to the Bill Stadium. Tushy
a provider of bidet attachments that transforms any traditional toilet

(44:27):
into a booty wonderland. I would like to announce a
bit of up to twelve and a half million dollars
for the naming rights of the stadium and name it
Tushy Stadium. George, I'll tell you I'm gonna stop there.
I'll tell you I fully support Tishy and their effort
to rename the Bills Stadium and create Booty wonder lands
all throughout this great nation and this great state of

(44:47):
New York in which I live. All Right, Ah, let's
try and get real here. The NFL is never going
to allow this, right, They're not gonna have a stadium
called TS Stadium that They're just not mean no fun League.
It is the no Fun Lake. But hey, uh it's
better than the old turn because when I first told
her about this, and I think Buffalo, a certain um

(45:10):
toy device has been thrown on the field, and Buffalo
few times, so I guess the name could be worse
than Tushy. I think this is funny. Listen to say
to the pub if I'm the owner and they all
have be the most money, the name of the stadium
is Tushy Stadium. It's just the way it is made.

(45:33):
But I I just I don't think Roger Goodell would
I think we have a heart attack. He'd have aid
flip out and have a stroke. A connection if they have,
you know, Buffalo submitted this name hey to you will
even spelled t U s H I E. Whatever the
hell it is. I don't know, no way, it's the brand.
So he went on to say, Mike Mickey Sorry, I said, Mike,
I think it's Mickey Agrohall. Additionally, Tushy would like to

(45:56):
deploy portable toilet's equipped with its bidat across parking lots
untailgating venues for every Bill's home game in twenty I'm
in the in the portable toilets. I don't know about that.
I don't think I'm going. I don't think i'm I
don't think I've ever used of a day in my life.
I have. I don't say I think. I don't think
I have. I think it's that's a hotel, but I

(46:16):
mean that's a while, but I think I have. It's weird. Yeah,
maybe I'm I'm clearly missing out. But even though I'm
the boy experience, it's a booty wonderland. George. Apparently I
wouldn't know, but I I I would not think that
my first experience in utilizing one would be in a

(46:37):
portable in a porta potty outside of the Bills Tushi
Stadium as it were. Uh. Lastly, assuming the offers accepted,
Tushi would like to work to bring a college football
bowl game to Orchard Park and host the first ever
quote toilet Bowl. Please take some time to consider our offer.
Very much record to hearing from you. This is obviously
a publicity stunt, but I give Mickey a lot of credit.

(47:00):
I don't know if Mickey as a man or a woman.
It's my fault for not finding out, uh, because it's
a yeah, gender neutral name. But in any event, that's
where they're at. I think it won't happen, but I
think it's a lot of fun to talk about, and
I appreciate there was a very well crafted statement, perfect

(47:20):
amount of fun and uh, you know, I think through
twelve and a half million dollars out there as an offer,
I'll do it. Just do it. Come on, Terry Pegula,
twelve and a half was that the one year I
would imagine a buffalo. That's actually a pretty good offer,
right with things? Well, no, it's said I would like
to announce a bit of up to so I think

(47:40):
that's an available cash flow. I don't know if they
could do I mean that seems like a one that
seems like one year. I just I just want to
see the emblem they'd had for this. You know, it
looks like it's like it it looks like it's just
a water droplet. Oh that's no fun. But you gotta
have more fun with the MM in that. But I've
gotta have a mascot out there. That's a That's all

(48:04):
I need is the manage the tushy mascot there to
come out. That would just be fantastic. U. By the way,
there's I would I dislike going to ball quorter Pies
in the first place, Meliss, when that's gonna shoot water
up that that's gross, right, it's really it's got to
be a disaster wait and happen, by the way, not
the environment that you wanted. And no, corr body technology

(48:25):
has improved greatly over the last twenty years. You put
hand sanitizers in there, you have your own area to
do your business. Business for men specifically, if you catch
my drift, a urinal urinal in there as opposed to
just the toilet. Uh, they're still gross though, And I
don't want water, as you said, shooting up everywhere. I

(48:46):
think the parties I think of people who may be
a little inebriated, very much so inebriated the bills, the
Bills games, I mean, they take it to another level
with the table, the table crashing and everything else, you know,
the wrestling moves. I've seen some guys lay themselves out

(49:07):
and knock themselves out. I don't get it. I I
know I'm older now, but I tailgated many many times
in my life, particularly uh college football games when I
would go to BC games and I never saw that.
And if I had seen it, I wouldn't have been
like I need to get in on that. I just
would not have been in on it. No, No, I'm

(49:27):
not gonna knock myself out. That's I don't care how
old I was. Oh, even if I didn't knock myself
out and I successfully completed a table uh what do
they call it, the elbow or whatever, flying elbow into
the table, I wouldn't feel any better about myself. And
also I don't see the point. Hey, it looks fun
on when I watch it, but I'm not about to

(49:48):
do it. No. Yeah, okay, so uh different naming ideas.
I'm glad you didn't go down the route of the
other Bills option with the toys being thrown onto the field,
the adult situation being thrown onto the field. We can
talk about that on Sports Group after that. We knew
what I was talking about. They do know now Sports

(50:08):
Group after Dark hosted by Day on that later. Yeah,
he's a Bills fan, tip so you can talk about
it at length. So, um, you know, it brings up
some interesting naming ideas. You know, the USC Trojans. I mean,
they're not selling corporate naming rights necessarily into their stadium,

(50:30):
but you know that's out there. It's a big mass
of all they if they wanted to change the nickname,
it is an obvious one for buffalo wings, wings hell
wild ones. It's oh that would freak out though, because

(50:51):
the buffalo wing was allegedly invented in Buffalo, and there's
a famous bar called the Anchor Bar which claims to
be the earthplace of the buffalo wing. And I have
to tell you their wings are great, not good, great
amongst the best wings, maybe the best wings I've ever had.
So it's not one of those fly by night operations

(51:12):
they're like, oh, yeah, they invented like fifty years ago.
But the wings stak no, they're great. If they did
actually invented I think there's probably always some guys saying
they didn't invent it. I gave him the recipe. But
it's great, it's not phony. It's the way I feel
about New York pizza and New York bagels. Like you
guys around the country can keep doing what you're doing
and it's fine. I'm just telling you it's not the same,

(51:35):
