Speaker 1 (00:03):
F T s Y and Sports Break Network present all
in his hands, the hard Hardwood Takeaways. It's it's up
and welcome in. It is Hardwood Takeaways right here on

(00:25):
Sports Grid. I'm your host today, Chris Welsh. You can
find me on Twitter. Is it the Welsh. We have
got a full slate of games that went down on
Wednesday night. In fact, it was kind of the last
big slate of games before the All Star Break. Now
we got a couple coming up tonight on Thursday, and
then we are going to have a nice break of
regular season about a week. We're gonna be the All
Star Break coming up this weekend with the Skills Competition,

(00:47):
the Rookie Sophomore Game, and of course the actual All
Star Game. But today will be the final set of
regular season games. So Bogwin will have you covered. But
let's talk about what we had going into the break Wednesday.
We had a whole bunch of them. Let's kick it
off with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cavaliers won one one oh
five over the Hawks, getting their fourteenth win of the year.

(01:08):
Hawks only fifteen wins, so the teams are righting in
the same range one one oh five On Cleveland side
for Atlanta, John Collins twenty three points in thirty four
minutes with four rebounds. Trey Young double double twenty seven
points with twelve assists a couple of steals in there.
He was nine for eleven from the free throw line,
eight for seventeen from the field. The other starters, Hunter

(01:28):
scored twelve with eight rebounds. Hurd R had eleven but
was only four for twelve from the field. And off
the bench, Cam Reddish played twenty six minutes scored sixteen
points with four rebounds. The team shot only about forty
from the field under from the three point line, and
that is what put them behind as well. Cleveland scored
thirty points in every quarter but the fourth, but they

(01:49):
scored twenty nine, which would equate to outscoring the Hawks
every single quarter of this game. That's how Cleveland got
ahead with this. Colin Sexton he led the way as
far as the starters go. He had twenty three points
with six assists in thirty two minutes. He was seven
for seventeen from the field. Newly acquired Andre Drummond he
only played twenty two minutes, but he scored fourteen points

(02:11):
with fifteen rebounds and a couple of blocks. He was
six for ten from the field. Larry Nann's had a
double double twenty three points with twelve rebounds to assist
three steals two blocks. In the starting lineup, he played
thirty five minutes with no Kevin Love, but off the
bench he had a couple of big ones. Tristin Thompson
twenty seven points and eleven rebounds and only twenty six

(02:31):
minutes on the second unit, and Kevin Porter scored eight
team points with four rebounds. He was seven for eleven
from the field. Efficiency was their game from the overall
field fifteent only shop from three, but as they said,
they had the league going into every single quarter over
the Hawks. Next game up Andre Drummond's old team, the
Detroit Pistons. They traveled to Orlando and they lost one

(02:53):
sixteen to one twelve. Orlando got their twenty fourth win
of the year. They're now twenty four and thirty one.
As the Pistons continued to real Christian would, though has
been a stud since Andrew Drummond left, twenty six points
and twelve rebounds in thirty eight minutes, a team high
thirty eight minutes, he was nine for fourteen from the field,
even hit a three, had a couple of blocks. He

(03:14):
was an absolute star in this one. Reggie Jackson in
the starting lineup. He was inefficient, only five for sixteen,
but scored twelve points with eleven assists and had a
couple of rebounds as well. Thoughtmaker eight teen points and
Tony Still had fifteen over on the bench. Morris had
fourteen points with eight rebounds and twenty one minutes, and
Lanks and Galloway had eleven points. They hit eighteen threes

(03:34):
in this one. The Pistons did very, very efficient, almost
more efficient than the field as a whole, and the
only missed one free throw. There were fourteen and fifteen
the magic. They were the winners, though, and they were
led by Aaron Gordon. He had twenty five points with
nine rebounds and nine assists, just missed a triple double.
This one did go into overtime, by the way, I
forgot to mention that. And Aaron Gordon played forty three

(03:55):
minutes in this game. Nikolavuseovitch nineteen points, eleven rebounds with
seven as sis. That's two guys that kind of closed
in on a triple double. Mark l Folts twenty two
points with tennessis and five rebounds. Evan Fournia had nineteen points.
He played thirty nine minutes, and four of the five
starters played thirty nine minutes or more, three of them
hitting the forty minute mark off the bench. Terrence Ross

(04:17):
played thirty six minutes. Nobody else played more than fourteen
minutes off the bench. Even though they went into overtime.
Terence Rosso only uh five points with four steals. He
was two for twelve from the field. They shott and
hit twelve threes. Also efficient from the free throw line
eighty eight point nine percent, which was sixteen of eighteen.
Next game up the Wizards. They traveled to New York

(04:40):
and they handed it to him one, fourteen to ninety six.
Wizards are now twenty and thirty three as the New
York Knicks fall to seventeen and thirty five. The Washington
Knicks actually came into the third quarter with the lead,
but Washington proceeded to score thirty plus points in both
of the third and fourth quarter while holding the Knicks
to twenty three points each quarter respectively. Over on the

(05:01):
Knick side, since they were the losing team, Julius Randall
twenty one points with thirteen rebounds and thirty eight minutes.
Alfred Payton scored nineteen with eight assists and thirty one
minutes in the starting lineup. R J. Barrett had sixteen
points with five rebounds, but he was five for sixteen
from the field, played twenty nine minutes. They played a
whole bunch of guys in this one. Mitchell Robinson, probably

(05:22):
the most predomin mohark was played twenty five minutes, but
the most predominant name would be Mitch Robinson off the
bench eleven points, eight rebounds and eighteen minutes. He was
five for six, but the team was an absolutely atrocious
three for twenty three from the three point line. Washington,
they were led by Bradley Beal. He scored thirty points
in thirty four minutes. He was eleven for twenty three

(05:44):
from the field. Boga had thirteen points, but none of
the other starters could score in two double digits. Burt
Hands came off the bench he scored sixteen points with
a couple threes, and Brown eleven points with six assists
in twenty minutes. There forty seven percent from the field,
and they shot thirty three free throws. And this one
Wizards taken easy win. Now the Bucks. We've been following

(06:04):
the Bucks and they've been, you know, trying to hold
off those wins going into the All Star Break without
g A. They did not do it in this one
and they lost to the Pacers this big game, Pacers
won one eighteen to one, eleven, thirty two and twenty three.
The Pacers ours now and the Bucks fall to forty
six and eight twenty one in five on the road,
and that means they have lost one home game this year. Nobody,

(06:27):
nobody on the Buck scored twenty points, even though there
were six guys that scored twelve and more points for
them in the starting lineup. Led So He had fifteen
points with six rebounds four assists, but was four for
eleven from the field. Middleton seventeen five and five and
thirty four minutes. Iliosova only played nineteen minutes. Now off
the bench, DiVincenzo played thirty minutes. He scored nineteen points

(06:48):
with eight rebounds, and uh Connington six points four rebounds
to assists in thirty minutes played the most minutes off
the bench. They were amazingly efficient twenty four five from
the free throw line, but only from the field and
from three over on the pacers side. Victor Oladipo is
still getting those minutes up. He caught the twenty nine

(07:10):
minute marker twenty nine minutes. He was five or seven
from the field, thirteen points, three rebounds, four assists. Brogden
thirteen points with seventeen assists, Miles Turner with a good
one fourteen points, ten rebounds for a double double. Also
had a couple of blocks. Demonu Sabonis fifteen eight and four.
And t J. Warren a absolutely huge and efficient night,

(07:30):
one of the most efficients, it might be like an
actual fact, one of the most efficient thirty plus games
we've ever seen. Thirty five points, He had seven rebounds
with four steals. He was sixteen of nineteen from the
field and two for two from the free throw line,
one for two from three. He played the most minutes
of anybody, thirty nine minutes. And there's actually this really cool, um,

(07:51):
really cool story if you get to go check it out.
Greg Doyle wrote, um love. Greg Doyle over in uh,
Indiana wrote this article about t J. Warren and how
he was. You know, he everybody wanted to talk about.
Talk to t J. Warren after this game and kind
of how recluse Warren is and um, not in a
bad way, just doesn't you know, he's not a big
media guy. He doesn't want to be involved in all

(08:13):
this stuff. But Greg Doyle wanted to ask him about
these shoes that he has, and he has, you know,
one shoe says Joey, the other says Bates. And Warren
kind of did his media thing and started to leave,
and then Greg kind of grabbed him and Warren was
just kind of staring at him, just kind of into
like a I was done, and he asked him about
the shoes, and Warren kind of lit up and said, well,
it was a custom, custom shoe that this cancer patient,

(08:34):
Joey Bates, who I don't even know, was made. And
it kind of ended there. And then like you know
a little bit later, Warren just bust into the media room,
which is Greg Doyle in this article writes how unheralded
this is, and Warren's got his phone out and he's
he looked it up, you know, so he could do
right by Joey Bates, and he said he's actually must
muscular dystrophe. And this is really great exchange. It's just

(08:57):
great article. Just search Greg Doyle online really kind of
the inside of who t J. Warren is as a
guy and Greg Doyle just just a fantastic writer. I
thought that was really really cool and I think you
guys would dig that for t J. Warren in his
thirty five points sixteen of nineteen. That is quite a game.
Um and off the bench, Jeremy Lamb twenty six points,

(09:17):
scored thirteen or I'm sorry twenty six minutes. He scored
thirteen points of six rebounds. He was five for ten
from the field. As the Pacers, they won their thirty
second of the year, the Raptors Raptors in the Brooklyn Nets.
Raptors lost to the Nets in Brooklyn one oh one
to ninety one. And don't look now, but the Brooklyn
Nets are twenty five and twenty eight, sixteen and twelve

(09:38):
at home, Pacers forty and nineteen. That's a pretty big
win going into the All Star break, a little momentum
for for the Brooklyn Nets. Over on the Raptors side,
they were led by Serge Ibaka twenty eight points with
nine rebounds. He was ten for seventeen from the field
and hit five threes in this Fred van Vleet twenty
two points. He hit four threes in here. Kyle Lowry
had a triple double. We a triple double twelve points,

(10:01):
eleven rebounds, twelve assists. He was only four for thirteen
from the field, but three for six from the three
point line, so that's a really weird one. Pascal Siakam
sixteen points, eight rebounds, four assists in thirty seven minutes.
They were under fort from both the three point and
the field goal, so that's what hurt them over On
the net side, Caris LeVert twenty points with seven rebounds,

(10:23):
four assists, four steals. He was ten for twenty from
the field, played the most minutes of any nets, thirty
six of them. Joe Harris scored nineteen points, Stared Allen
had a double double ten points, thirteen rebounds with a
couple assists, and Spencer Denwiddie seventeen points, six rebounds and
nine assists, but only five for thirteen from the field.
Off the bench, DeAndre Jordan had ten rebounds. The team

(10:44):
only hit nine threes in this one, but they were
able to walk away with an impressive win against Toronto
Raptors the Memphis Grizzlies. They beat the Trailblazers in Memphis
for their twenty eight win of the year. They're now
twenty eight and twenty six. It was one eleven to
one oh four. Is Portland's reeling under the five marker
really gonna have to pick it up coming off the
All Star Break. C Jim McCollum twenty three points. He

(11:06):
had three threes in this one, playing forty minutes. Damian
Lillard twenty points with tennessis he was seven for nineteen
from the field, double double from Hassan Whiteside sixteen points,
eleven rebounds with no blocks, not something we see all
the time. And Carmelo Anthony he only scored five points
because he was a one for five from the field,

(11:27):
but he did have fifteen rebounds, so he chipped in
and you know from that standpoint. Simmons off the bench,
scored twenty two points of seven rebounds and twenty eight minutes.
He had six threes in this one. They hit thirteen
as a team, so he hit just about half of them.
He picked up the slack for Carmelo Anthony, even though
it obviously wasn't enough. Over on Memphis side, John Morant
twenty points with nine assists, five rebounds. He was nine

(11:49):
for twenty three from the field and thirty two minutes.
Val and Junas had a big double double twelve points
with eighteen rebounds. He had a couple assists and three blocks,
and twenty seven. Jaren Jackson only eight points with blocks,
who was one for six from the field. Dylan Brooks
four for sixteen from the field, but off the bench,
Brandon Clark twenty seven points with six rebounds, twelve for

(12:09):
fourteen from the field. What an interesting, weird, interestingly weird
night with these like high, these high point totals with
supreme efficiency, I mean, twelve or fourteen, sixteen for nineteen
from t J. Warren. That's that's odd. The team only
hit six threes in this but they're able to pull
out a win, hitting forty five of ninety five shots
in Memphis twenty eight and twenty six. As they're heading

(12:32):
into the All Star break. The Charlotte Hornets, they beat
the timber Wolves one fifteen to one one oh eight,
and um Cat is going in for an m r I,
so he was banged up getting banged up even more,
which is not a good sign for them. He's having
an m r I will probably find out more soon.
I believe you know done through the All Star break.
Should be done through the All Star break. Here Over

(12:54):
on the Wolves side, who are now sixteen and thirty seven,
D'Angelo Russell twenty six points with eleven is us in,
six rebounds and thirty five minutes. Malik Beasley he led
the team with twenty eight minutes. He was eleven for
twenty five, hit five threes. Russell and Beasley combined hit nine,
which I believe was more than half. You have the
only hit fourteen as a team. Uh Hernegomez sixteen points

(13:15):
with twelve rebounds and thirty eight minutes, but Johnson and
a Cog both in the single digit points. Naz Reid
had twelve points off the bench. Over on Charlotte's side,
they were led by DeVante Graham, who had twenty eight points,
hit five threes in this one in thirty five minutes.
Bridges twenty points thirty thirty five minutes with six for
sixteen from the field and off the bench. Malik Monk.

(13:37):
Malik Monk has been an assassin lately, twenty five points
with four rebounds, three assists. He was ten for twenty
and hit three threes. I'm telling you it just an
assassin off the bench, really good on the second unit.
He played thirty two minutes in this one, which was
the third most of the entire team, and Charlotte sixteen
and thirty six. Now on the year, the Mavericks, they

(13:57):
beat the King's in a big one one thirty to one,
a leven Mavericks now thirty three and twenty two Kings
faul to one and thirty three. Over on the King's side,
only two players in the starting lineup had double digit points,
and deer and Fox was the leader on that front,
sixteen points in thirty one minutes. He was five for
sixteen from the field. B l just scored ten, but
you had a combined twenty one points between Barnes, Joseph

(14:20):
and Bogdanovich. Now Buddy healed off the bench scored twenty
two points with nine assists. He also was eight for
twenty one from the field, hit four threes. They were
thirty percent from the three point line and under forty
two percent from the field. Over on the Maverick side,
Porzingis had twenty seven points with thirteen rebounds and five assists.
All of his rebounds defensive, and he was eleven for

(14:42):
sixteen from the field. There's that efficiency again. Wild He
had three blocks as well. Luka Don He had thirty
three points with twelve rebounds eight assists. He was ten
for eight teen from the field, hit three threes, and
ten for twelve from the free throw line. He had
more than half of the team's free throws. Tim Hardaway Jr.
He scored nineteen points hit five threes. The starting lineup

(15:02):
hit twelve of their seventeen threes in this game. Seth
Curry he had eight teen points and hit three off
the bench three threes, and he was seven for ten
from the field, from the three point line and over
fifty six percent from the field. The Jazz and the Heat.
The Jazz won won sixteen to one oh one, thirty
six and eighteen. The Jazz are now Miami thirty five

(15:22):
and nineteen. This is a banger of a game in Utah.
They took this over obviously in the fourth quarter even
though they had a they had a pretty substantial lead.
They scored thirty two, was thirty two to twenty two
as far as quarter scoring. In the third and then
Utah outscored uh the Miami Heat thirty seven to twenty
seven and the fourth quarter, so the whole second half
was just such a massive swing for Utah. Over on

(15:43):
the heat side, Jimmy Butler twenty five points with eight rebounds.
He was ten for twenty one from the field. Duncan
Robinson had eighteen none had twelve, but he was only
five for sixteen from the field. Off the bench, Draget
scored thirteen, he had five assists, and Jay Crowder fifteen
points in twenty five minutes. He was five for seven
from the field. Over on the Jazz side, Donovan Mitchell

(16:05):
twenty six points, five rebounds, four assists, but Rudy Gobert
six team points with twenty rebounds, fifteen of them were
defensive rebounds. He also had a couple of blocks. He
was seven for twelve from the field. Bogdanovich twenty two
points of seven rebounds. He was nine for seventeen he
hit three threes. And off the bench, Jordan Clarkson twenty
one points with four rebounds, three assists. He hit four threes.

(16:27):
They hit fourteen as a team, and those fourteen were
made by five different players. So the Utah Jazz now
thirty six and eighteen Warriors and sons the Phoenix Suns
took a game one twelve to one oh six. UH
the Phoenix Suns now twenty two and thirty three, where
the Warriors only have twelve wins on the season. That
was our forty third loss of the year. UH. Andrew Wiggins,

(16:48):
he scored twenty seven points with five assists, and thirty
four minutes you had Marquis Chris double double eight team
points with twelve rebounds against his old team, a little
revenge game and UH Pascal had twelve points of six
rebounds off the bench from the field, but only hit
eleven threes over on Phoenix a side. Devin Booker twenty
seven points was with eight assists. It was eight for

(17:09):
twenty two from the field. Bridges had fourteen points, ubre
a fifteen points of six rebounds, and Dialla was in
the starting lineup ten points, eight rebounds with a couple
steals a cog off the bench twenty two minutes scored
twelve points. They were fourteen and thirty seven from the
three point line and forty six percent from the field.
As Phoenix steals their twenty second win of the year.

(17:29):
And then the final game we got going on is
the Lakers and the Nuggets are actually coming down to
kind of a close one. There's about three minutes left
in this one. As I'm about to leave you, so
let's give you a little bit of box score love.
As the Nuggets are up one oh three to one
oh one. As I'm looking at this with the Los
Angeles Lakers, uh, Lebron James is closing in on a
triple double twenty six points, eleven assists with eight rebounds. Uh.

(17:51):
Anthony Davis solid game nine of nineteen so far, twenty
two points, seven rebounds, nothing crazy or spectacular to write
home about. Over on the Nuggets side, Nicola Yokich has
twenty points of eight rebounds, three assists, three steal so
no triple double in mind. But Jamal Murray having a
night twenty eight points, nine assists, hit three threes in
this one. As this, uh, this sucker is gonna come

(18:11):
down to the y. You're very important game too. I
mean Nuggets thirty eight and sixteen, where the Los Angeles
Lakers are forty and twelve. You know, so this this
isn't Golden State and the Phoenix Suns. This is a
very important game which leads us into Thursday. There are
only two games tonight that you guys are gonna get
before the All Star Break. You've got the Thunder and
the Pelicans, and then the Clippers and the Celtics. That

(18:33):
Clipper Celtics game that's gonna be on T and T
and that's a solid one, and then we're going into
All Star Break. So you know, make sure you're tune
here tomorrow with Scott Bogman because he's gonna be able
to do a nice little breakdown of what's coming up
for the All Star Break. It's gonna be um. You know,
the system was kind of altered and changed up a
little bit. They've got a good break before they returned
to games next Thursday. Don't worry hard with takeaways. It's
