Speaker 1 (00:03):
F A, T. S Y and Sports Grid Network present
ball in his hands. All right, the hard Hardwood Takeaways.
It's alright, alright, alright, it is that time. It is

(00:25):
Hardwood Takeaways right here on the Sports Grid. It's your boy,
Chris Welch, the Welsh. I am back for you on
this March fifth edition of Hardwood Takeaways or breaking down
everything that went down yesterday, March fourth, Wednesday night, big
old slate of games. But guess what, nothing that happened
yesterday is as big of news that you guys have
going for you tonight. And you want to know why that,

(00:47):
my friends, is because March five is signifying the return
tonight on T and T of Steph Curry. Now, unfortunately
the Warriors aren't doing anything of the nificants. I mean,
they're battling to try to get to twenty wins this year.
Spoiler alert, it's probably not gonna happen, but it doesn't
hurt to get Steph Curry back. It's kind of a

(01:09):
big deal. He's returning. He's gonna get his legs under
him figurative, figuratively and reality. And this will be a
sign moving into next season. But Steph Curry returns tonight
and it is a killer game against Raptors. So it's
on T n T. You guys are gonna be able
to view that one uh the five game slate coming
up tonight. Clippers and Rockets are going to be before that.
So you know what, it's a fantastic night of basketball.

(01:31):
Seventy sixers, they got a road game. They can't win
road games at all. They're missing Mr one eighty or
whatever it was that if you guys saw on Jeopardy
a question for Dwell embiid was they had a question
they said Dwell Embiad's nickname was the Process. He is
the process. But the it was essentially like what is

(01:52):
his nickname? And the guy goes, uh, Mr A one
eighty or something like that, and then Joel Embiad win
to it. But we're gardless of that and me butchering
and not remember any of the details except that Joel
and beat accepted the wrong answer. The seventy is going
up against the Kings, and the seventies sixers can't win
any road games. You've got the Nuggets going Clippers, Rockets

(02:13):
on T and T is going to be an absolutely
killer game. And what you know, for the last three
months would have not been a watchable game the Raptors
and Warriors. Steph Curry's back, so it's gonna be very,
very watchable. Now. Obviously I'm jumping ahead here because it's
just it's the big news to get tuned into. Now,
how many minutes will Steph Curry beyond? You know, none
of us really know. I would imagine it would be

(02:35):
somewhere into the twenty you know, some twenty two maybe
something like that. I don't think they would completely unleash him.
You gotta imagine he starts comes out after, you know.
I mean, I could imagine like five to six minutes
each quarter, you know, and then if there's any type
of blowout, he doesn't play. He just gotta get his
legs under him. Expect around twenties minutes. That was to
what I would say, But that is not everything, because

(02:58):
let's look at what happened yesterday. He hit a big
old slate of games under our belts here. So let's
start with the Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Celtics.
They won a road game against the Calves one twelve
to one oh six. Boston's nineteenth went on the road
this year. They're now forty two and nineteen. Over on
Cleveland side, Kevin Love twenty six points, fourteen rebounds with
five assists, Very good Night hit five threes. He was

(03:21):
nine for seventeen. Larry ANNs Jr. Played thirty nine minutes.
Every starter for the Calves played thirty five or more
minutes in this one, and Larry Nance went nineteen fifteen rebounds,
four assists, four steals. He was seven for thirteen, hit
a couple threes. Big Night, and Colin Sexton had a
career high forty one points. He played forty five minutes

(03:44):
in this game. Jeez seventeen of thirty. He hit three threes,
forty one points with six assists, absolute career high, and
he has been a monster for the team as of late.
They hit thirteen threes, but low percentages. You know it's
always going to kill them. Over on Boston's side, Jayson Tatum,
he was the killer eleven of twenty four, hit five threes,

(04:05):
thirty two points, nine rebounds, six assists. Marcus Smart had eighteen.
The rest of the starting lineup was pretty quiet, though
um where the bench chipped in. Enis Cantor had a
double double, ten points, eleven rebounds. It was just being
more efficient on Boston's side, outscoring Cleveland in three of
the four quarters and winning one twelve to one oh six.
Next up Thunder in the Detroit Pistons. Thunder won the

(04:28):
road game as well. Thirty eight and twenty four is
a record now eighteen eleven on the road. They won
one fourteen to one oh seven over the Detroit Pistons,
who have been, you know, in a free fall. Now,
somebody that is actually benefited from the free fall with
Detroit has been Christian Would because he's been given an
opportunity and he has been rolling with it. Last night

(04:49):
played thirty nine minutes. He was twelve of sixteen from
the field. He hit five threes, twenty nine points with
nine rebounds and three assists. He was the absolute star
for this team where they lack. You know, Derrick Rose
looks like he's still going to be out for a
little bit. Brandon Knight was in the starting lineup. He
did have eight teen points with seven assists, but was
only six of fifteen. The rest of the starters and

(05:10):
really the rest of the bench, McCrae had fifteen points
and I believe Detroit just picked him up off of
waivers in twenty six minutes. But this was all Christian
would and no one else as they just couldn't get
the scoring going over on the thunderside, Shy twelve of
fifteen hit a couple of threes and twenty seven points
he had with two rebounds, three assists, a couple of
steals and a couple of blocks. Chris Paul sixteen was

(05:32):
six assists, he was seven of ten from the field,
and Gallinari nineteen points with seven rebounds. He hit three threes.
Off the bench, Dennis Shrewder was a perfect seven for
seven from the free throw line, shot fifty percent from
the field, had twenty three points with nine assists. He
was a force off the bench, playing thirty minutes, essentially
playing starter minutes. The team shot over sixty one percent

(05:55):
from the field. That's that's how you're going to get
it done. Next game up Pacers and the Milwaukee Bucks.
This was a in theory, a really good one, but
the Bucks kind of routed it. They won one nineteen
to one hundred with the Pacers, who have been kind
of dealing with them with the old Adipo stuff. Fifty
three and nine by the Bucks record now as they
continue going for that Laker run. Twenty eight and three

(06:17):
is the home record Pacers. They felled the thirty seven
and twenty five and almost have a five hundred away records.
So they're not quite um Philadelphia, but they're you know,
but they're also not that much better. T J. Warren
had eight team points. He had four rebounds. He was
eight of eighteen from the field. Demonu Savonis fifteen ten
with seven assists in thirty seven minutes. The rest of

(06:38):
the starters Wolf they scored sixteen points points combined. Turner
Brockden in Holiday Brockden was knocked out of this game
only eleven minutes. Off the bench. You had McDermott drop
sixteen and t J McConnell fourteen points with six assists
in thirty minutes. Over on the Buck side, g A
He had twenty nine points, twelve rebounds, six assists. He

(06:59):
was ten twenty three from the field, also hit a
couple threes. It was too for eight though Chris Middleton
twenty points, eight rebounds, He was nine for sixteen. Eric
Bledsoe chipped in sixteen with seven assists, and Wes Matthews
had fifteen off the bench. DiVincenzo nineteen points, seven rebounds
with three steals, also had three three pointers from the
field and thirteen and forty six from three point where

(07:22):
the Pacers were only seven of twenty seven. That is
twenty six percent and so the Bucks they continue to
be the best team in the NBA. The Miami Heat
they hosted the Orlando Magic, all the best teams winning
on Wednesday Night. It was as you would expect, no
one playing down to their competition. Battle of Miami battle Florida,
if you will, Miami beats one sixteen to one thirteen
over the Magic. On the Magic side, Aeron Gordon eleven

(07:45):
points with nine assists and six rebounds and thirty six minutes.
Voussovitch twenty two points, sixteen rebounds with seven assists continues
to be a monster. He played forty minutes in this one.
Mark l Folts had fourteen in and six assists in
thirty one minutes, four drop sevent but off the bench,
Terrence Ross hit eight threes. He hit eight of the
thirteen total team threes. He was twelve of eighteen from

(08:07):
the field as a whole, scoring thirty five points. Maybe
even more impressive, though, he didn't do anything else, not
a block, not a steal, not an assist, not a rebound,
just shooting from the arc. Eight threes, thirty five points.
He was kind of a monster. Wasn't enough obviously though.
Over on the heat side, Duncan Robinson led the way
in thirty six minutes. He hit nine threes, so one

(08:32):
up Terrence Ross twenty seven points. He chipped in a
tiny bit unlike Terrence Ross. He had two rebounds and
one assist, but that was about it. Those two just
too busy standing behind the three point line, just chucking
it up off the bench, Gore and Dragics. He was
eight of fifteen from the field. He hit five threes
for twenty five points and nine assists, and Olynic sixteen

(08:52):
points of five rebounds, a perfect five for five from
the field. The Moating Heat were fifty percent from the
three point line, twenty two of four forty four forty
four three pointers they put up and shot fifty. That
is going to get the job done. Should get the
job done every single night. Um Over on the Grizzlies
and net side Grizzlies one now five hundred on the season.

(09:14):
There now thirty one and thirty one as they beat
the Nets handedly one, eighteen to seventy nine. Brooklyn had
a one point lead coming out of the first quarter,
but then Memphis scored thirty plus points in each of
the last three quarters, and Brooklyn scored less points each
quarter of this entire game three and the first two,

(09:36):
in the second twenty and the third fourteen and the fourth.
They can't close, they can't start, they can't middle, they
can't really do anything, as his team has been in shambles.
Who did something? Carris Alvert He had fourteen points with
six assists, uh six of nineteen from the field, though
and oh for five from three. Spencer Dinwiddie was oh

(09:57):
for seven from three only had four point to this one.
Touring Prince had fifteen points, but fifth six of nineteen.
The entire starting lineup, besides Jared Allen, who still wasn't
much of anything else, shot under fifty percent. The team
seven of forty two from the three point line, that
is sixteen percent. They also only shot thirty three percent

(10:19):
from the field as a team. Over on Memphiss side,
John Moran fifteen points, was seven rebounds and five assists.
Jonas valent Tunis was only four for nine from the
field for nine points, but he had sixteen rebounds in
this one. Uh Dylan Brooks twelve points, he hit a three,
He was five for eleven from the field and off
the bench, Jones had eighteen with six assists, and Josh

(10:40):
Jackson nineteen points, hit four threes and only seventeen minutes
thirty one and thirty one with a negative away record
for the Grizzlies right now, but that's all it takes
to get into the playoffs, apparently for them. The Utah
Jazz again it is all the favorites, all the teams
you expect to win. The Utah Jazz beat the New
York Knicks one twelve to one off or for their

(11:00):
thirty ninth win of the year. New York falls to
nineteen and forty three over on the next side, though
Julius Randall thirty two points with eleven rebounds, he was
twelve of twenty one from the field. Alfred Peyton he
had twenty points, seven rebounds, nine assists, close to a
triple double, and Bobby Porters dropped twenty one off the bench,
but they were only seven to twenty from the three
point line over on Utah side. Donovan Mitchell twenty three

(11:24):
points with eight assists, and this one hit nine of
twenty nine shots, but one of seven from the three
point line. Rdy Gobert eighteen points, fourteen rebounds and two blocks,
seven of eight from the field. Mike Conley had seven
teen points and Bogdanovitch twenty three points. He had a
couple of threes in this one as well. They shot
over fifty percent. They were efficient, They got the job done,

(11:45):
and they got thirty nine wins to walk away with
the Minnesota Timberwolves. Maybe at the Chicago Bulls. This isn't
one of those games where it's like, hey, the favorite,
both teams are bad Bulls maybe a little bit better,
but the home team won. Minnesota won one fifteen to
one oh eight. Over on the bull side, it wasn't
much of anything because the lineup look really gross. Valentine,
Valentine Sataranski, Shack Harrison, Wendell Carter Jr. And Marketing where

(12:09):
the starters. Shack Harrison led the way with seventeen points
in twenty nine minutes. Lori marken In had thirteen, Sataranski
ten points, five assists. But your leader in total team
scoring came off the bench is Kobe White played thirty
five minutes. He played more than any single player twenty
six points, eleven of twenty two from the field. Apparently
they just want the good players off the second unit.

(12:30):
Because Otto Porter also was off the second unit, he
only played eighteen minutes in this one. It was one
for eight, wildly inefficient over in Minnesota side Malik Beasley,
he led the team with twenty four points. He hit
four threes. D'Angel Russell also hit four threes. He had
nineteen points, and Nas Read with a double double sixteen points,
eleven rebounds. Off the bench, Culver had thirteen. They shot

(12:52):
fifty percent a beautiful forty eight from the field. They
also hit nineteen threes. Very very efficient and that is
how you get the job done. Final from overtime as
the Dallas Mavericks beat the Pelicans. This one went up
to the wire and Dallas outscored New Orleans fifteen to
eleven in the overtime, winning one twenty seven to one

(13:13):
twenty three. Dallas now thirty eight and twenty five on
the year. Pelicans fall to twenty six and thirty six.
Brandon Ingram he had twenty seven points and was eleven
of twenty two from the field. A Lonzo Ball big
night twenty five points, eleven rebounds, six assists, and hit
seven threes. Played forty minutes, seven of eleven from three.
Derrick Favorites had a double double, ten and fourteen. Zion

(13:36):
Williamson dropped twenty one. He was nine of eighteen from
the field efficient you know, three pointers, about thirty percent.
But it just wasn't enough. Over on the Maverick side,
it was because of Porzingis thirty four points, twelve rebounds.
He was fourteen of twenty eight and hit three threes.
Played forty five minutes in this one too. How about
Luka done? Did I say it was all about Porzingis
about Luka Dona triple double, big triple double, thirty points, Tennessis,

(14:02):
seventeen rebounds, sixteen of them were defensive. He also had
four threes in this one, but only eight of thirteen
from the three point off from the free throw line.
Seth Curry. He had twenty one points with six threes
off the bench. It was just too much. Tim Hardaway
draft eighteen. They hit twenty two of fifty three pointers attempted,
and they shot over fifty six per cent Dallas wins

(14:25):
seven to one three. Also seventeen and fourteen is their
home record on the year. And then the final one here, uh,
the game is it's not quite done as I'm recording
this with you, but the Trailblazers they firmly have the
lead over the Wizards. It's about one, seventeen to ninety
six with about three minutes left into the into the
fourth quarter. Bradley Beale at this moment has dropped twenty
nine points with four threes, got a six rebounds, six assists.

(14:49):
Good night. Bertan's off the bench twenty one points. But
that's it from the team. Poorish three point under from
the field, really really ugly. Where on Portland's side, four
of the five starters at this moment have scored over
twenty points McCullum two, Lillard, Hassan Whiteside twenty four with

(15:11):
sixteen rebounds, and Carmelo Anthony has dropped twenty five with
a couple of threes. As I'm talking about this, over
fifty from the field and over right around from the
three point line. Portland should move to twenty eight and
thirty five with a positive home record and the Wizards
closing in on the fort win of the year that
this will be their thirty ninth. Friendows, that's it. That

(15:33):
is what I've got for you for Hardwood Takeaways here.
That is breaking everything that we had going down on
Wednesday night. You're all caught up tonight. What is your job?

He's gonna be back in action. Bogman is gonna be
breaking it down for you. That's gonna be the big story. Obviously,
the Rockets are playing in a big game, so you're
gonna get a lot of Rockets breakdown. But really there'll

(15:53):
be some probably big takeaways from how many minutes, how
efficient rusty not rusty to Steph Curry have a feeling staff.
He's going to come in and even if he plays
twenty minutes, wouldn't be surprised if he drops twenty two
something like that. He's going to score more points than
minutes I think in his return game. So Bogman will
be breaking it down right here on the Sports Grid
with Hardwood taberas. Make sure you're subscribed to the podcast.

(16:15):
You can get it wherever podcasts are and you can
