Now, let's head to the stadium for more coverage of
Opelaikah High School football alongside legendary coach Spence McCracken, Mac
McCracken and Jason Lee. Here's the Voice of the Bulldogs,
Van Riggs.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Tonight, Oh good evening, Bulldog fans, and welcome to Bulldog
Stadium for Tonight's electrifying second round matchup here in the
AASA and Class seven A State Playoffs. It's playoff football
in Alabama, and the stakes couldn't be higher Tonight as
the Opelika Bulldogs hosts the Baker Hornets in a battle
for a spot in the seven A semi finals. All
(01:13):
the live hope you're doing well on this Friday night.
Good to be playing football here in mid November. Alongside
coach Spence mccrackt, Mike mccrackett and Jason Lee, I'm Van Riggs.
Under coach Brian Wore, the Bulldogs have shown resilience all season,
earning the nickname the Cardiac Kids along the way Oplelkah
no stranger to tight games and comebacks, and last week
no exception. Trailing twenty one to six in the third quarter,
(01:35):
the Dogs rallied with twenty one unanswered points to knock
off you at trust Will twenty seven twenty one in
a thrilling road win their opponent tonight. The Baker Hornets
come in red hot nine to two record with a
six game winning street led by first year coach Eric Scotts.
Head coach Baker claimed the Region one title with a
six and one market area play, dominating Florence thirty eight
(01:56):
to fourteen last week in Round one. Hornets have a
high power offense too, averaging nearly thirty four points per game,
fueled by senior running back Jalen Speedy Wheeler and junior
quarterback Tate Graham, who has thrown for over twenty six
hundred yards this season. This is a first ever meeting
between Opelaikah and Baker. Promises to be a class of styles,
(02:17):
opalaikah hard nos approach and playoff pedigree versus Baker's explosive
offense and hunger for a deep postseason run, and also
marks Opelika's first time hosting a second round playoff game
since twenty twenty one, first time ever doing so, also
as a member of Class seven eight. The winner punches
their ticket of the seven A semi Finals and moves
one step closer to that Super seven in Birmingham. Should
(02:39):
be a fun one. Today we come back. We'll hear
from Opelaka Bulldog football head coach Brian Moore as we
continue with our pregame show here on the Kicker.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Now, it's time for a pregame visit with Opelakah head
football coach Brian Moore, presented by South State Bank.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Now with coach, Here's Van Riggs.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Coach, was an exciting win last week. I know you
can celebrate that one for a little bit but you
got to regroup. I know, big win tonight. How's the
week of practice been? And this Baker team presents a
lot of challenges, but let's talk about that, Hewitt Winn.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
You've been looking for.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
That big road win and you got one big program
statement for this team.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Yeah, a huge win for us.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
I mean obviously, you know, Hugh at Trustful historically has
had a great team, good really good head coach, you know,
and for us really to battle through that, be down
two scores and come back in the game, I thought
it was huge. We absolutely dominated the fourth quarter. It
was it was fun to see. It was the celebration
after the game. I thought it was definitely a program win.
You know, another step in trying to you know, get
(03:37):
you know, Bulldog program back to where it needs to be.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
You know, first was getting into the playoffs. We've done that.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
Now to win in Birmingham, it's just the next next
step towards getting back where we want to be.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Down twenty to six, things look bad and old fans
are looking at each other, you know, you know, probably
figuring out where they're going to go eat.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
After the game.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Your team, though, stuck in their coach and drove down
the field, got a huge score there, and from that
point on, I think really it was an opal like
a football game.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
Yeah, I mean it got kind of nasty, honestly. I mean,
you know, it was four yards and a cloud of dust.
I mean a lot of runs. It got really physical,
and you know, our kids just stayed the course.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
You know.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
I thought the touchdown right after they went up twenty
to six for us to drive it down. Had some
penalties to help us there, you know, but all were
things that they did to drive down and score, get
it to a one one score game and kind of
keep it within striking distance. I thought was huge as
far as momentum and the kids continuing to believe.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Talk about your quarterback, I meant fifteen to seventeen over
two hundred yards passing the big touchdown, but the just
the way the playmaking ability from a sophomore on the
road in that environment.
Speaker 6 (04:41):
Was huge.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
Well, I told him, you know in the Sunday meeting,
you know, just the trust. I mean, the more he
does that, the more we'll let him do. You know,
the leash will get longer for him, and you know
we'll sort of let him, you know, help us, you know,
stay balanced to make some plays because I think that's
the difference. I mean, we've got to be able to
hit some of these throws. We've got to be able
to get Jay washed involved. Bennett needs to be involved more.
Andre obviously has had a great year, but he didn't
(05:04):
have a lot of production Friday night. So for for
for Wit to be able to spread the ball around
and continue to keep us ballots so I think only
helps our run game.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
I know what will be a big key tonight, but
was a huge key last week. There's the line of
scrimmage and you won on both sides of the ball.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
Yeah, I mean, you know that was huge for us.
That's what we felt like it had to be. I mean,
we couldn't we couldn't win it pretty. I mean we
knew that, we knew that their skilled people were elite
and uh, you know, multiple multiple power four guys on
both sides, and you know, we knew it couldn't be
like that. It had to be one in the trenches.
We leaned on our offensive line. It's something we thought
would be a strength for us, and you know, and
it's certainly getting to that point now. Our d line
(05:40):
played really well. They're healthy you know, they controlled the
line of scrimmage. They did have some runs, but we
settled in and you know, started to fit things tighter
and squeeze and spill better. So you know, it was
exciting to see us do that, and something that has
to continue in these playoffs.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
One thing that you got, coach, a lot of teams
don't have a very solid kicker, and boy, four out
of five field goals on the night, those four field
goals with a difference maker two.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Oh, absolutely, and then the five out of seven touchbacks.
I mean, he's elite. I mean, he's a really good player.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
He didn't punt it as well as he wanted to,
but he still was a net of over thirty five
a punt, so you know, he did some things well
there too. But you know, it's been really awesome to
see Reese and his trust with Witt and Cam and
in our front. The protection, you know, the decision to
kick the field goal there at the end, to make
it twenty seven to twenty one.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
A lot of that had to do with Reese.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
I mean it had to do with the fact I
knew make the field goal and he'd turned around and
kick the ball on the ends on and make them
go eighty yards. So proud to Reese and proud of
our special teams in general.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Coach McCracken on the ride up said, we got to
hold these guys around seventeen points twenty one pretty close. Coach,
that's pretty good. And just like you said, you had
to keep them low scoring.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
Absolutely, I mean, you know, and we had to get
a turnover which Braden Howard made.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
A huge win.
Speaker 5 (06:48):
We got the safety was absolutely massive, So coach is right,
I mean, it didn't It could not be a high
scoring game.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
You know, that's not the recipe in any of the
games remaining.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
So for us to play really good defense, win the
kicking game, and then run the football, that's the recipe
for success for us.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
I know you had some guys banged up. Jordan Waits
went out, good report though from.
Speaker 5 (07:05):
Him, right, absolutely, yeah, I mean you know, we'll know
if Jordan will go, it'll be game time. But you
know he Jordan's tough and this means everything to him.
He is the captain of our football team. So whether
he's in there or not, he's still going to impact
the game. But we hope to have him back soon.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Quick time out come back with more coach. We'll preview
Baker after this time out your listen like a Bulldog
football here on the Kicker. Welcome back to Bulldog's Dave
to get around for second round and action against the
Baker Hornet's another first ever matchup here in the playoffs.
As Openlah welcomes in Baker and coach. I've watched some
(07:40):
pretty good tape on him this week and boy I
talked to a fellow coach has played him before. He said, speed, speed,
and more speed. I think when you watch him on
offence and on film, you can see that.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
There's no question.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
I mean, elite playmakers with a big time quarterback, a
junior that's a pocket passing kid. This as good as
we've seen as far as his touch and accuracy, and
you know obviously his arm strength. He can make any
throw about six.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Five to twenty.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
Mean, he's just a good player, and surrounding him are
really elite receivers.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
They're all about the same body type.
Speaker 5 (08:11):
You know, you're talking about five ten, five eleven, one
hundred and seventy pounds, but just can absolutely get the
ball in space and go score it, whether it's you know.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
A pass or a reverse or.
Speaker 5 (08:20):
A kickoff return or punt return. Those guys are electric
and we have to tackle extremely.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Well coaching around the state, you know, and this happened
throughout the season. You know a lot of people just
had in respect to this opal like a team, you know,
you're always the underdog, no big, no different. There's really
this week I've seen a lot of projections out there,
double digit underdogs, almost at home. I know that's a
chip on the shoulder for the guys. They want to
prove them wrong again.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
You know.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
Normally, you know, we're not into you know, those those
newspaper clippings and you know they're ratings by people that
really don't know, you know, and so but this week, man,
it's been hard to swallow, I'll be honest, you know,
to to you know, think that a team can come
you know, from Mobile to Bulldog Stadium and really you know,
you know, dominate the ball game.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
That's tough for us to understand.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
Obviously, we don't know how the game is going to go,
but you know, we expect to play well. We've played
well in Boodog Stadium. We've got some really good teams
coming here this year. Our fans, our band have impacted
the game, and we know it will be no different tonight.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Coach Keys for you against Baker, just in general, what
do you got to do tonight to win this ball game?
Speaker 4 (09:18):
Defensively, we got to tackle.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
I mean, you know, I know that coaches say that
most every week, but like they're going to get the
ball in space, and you got to get those guys
on the ground. You miss one tackle, he scores. That's
the level of athleticism that they have on offense.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
Kicking game wise, you know, just like we've done. Man,
we've got to be solid.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
You know, we got to punt the ball well, continue
to cast nets on the punt.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
You know, their returners are so good.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
You know, we have to do a great job of
laying integrity and you know how we run to the football,
so that and kick off return you know against them
will be really really crucial. As far as offense, you know,
we've got to we've got to run the ball effective.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
We've got to hit some explosives too. You know that's
been a thing.
Speaker 5 (09:53):
You know, keeping win in the game all night last
Friday was really huge as he settled into that ball game,
and we hope it carries over this week.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Coach, Good luck tonight, enjoy this one and let's get
to round three. Thanks Bannon, Let's go Dogs.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Coach Brian Moore will continue to war our pregame show

we get ready for Opalaika and the Baker Hornets here
inside Bulldog Stadium. Should been exciting round two matchup coming
up on the way, and we'll take a time out
and we come back. Coach Spence McCracken has his keys
for the game for the Bulldogs tonight in this big
Round two matchup against Baker. We'll come back with more
right after this. Stay tuned. This is Opahlika football on

GMC and Obi Go.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Get ready to smile.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Van Rigs, Welcome back to Bulldog Stadium. It's great to
be here and we got a kind of a rematch
tonight of the kind of team that we played I
think when we played Carver. We've got to We've got
to do several things tonight. Defensively, on defense, we can't
(12:35):
let him run the ball on us, and we can't
give them any big plays. Now. We gave up three
big plays to you at Trustful last week and almost
got us beat. But we cannot give up big plays.
We've got to stop third and fourth down conversions. Quarterback
is about six three. He's like the boy from Pike Road.
(12:55):
We got to make sure and not and not allow
him to throw the ball up and down the field.
He's got a great arm. I watch him for the game,
so we got to pressure him because he's a good one. Okay, Offensively,
we gotta slow the game down. We gotta let our
big hog mollies just run the ball on these guys.
(13:18):
We got to get three to four at least every
time we run the ball. And then we got to
get with Cooper involved in this offense a little bit
with his boot passes and the rollouts and make sure
we're successful because last week we were three for eight
in the first half for eight yards. That's all we
had so we got to do We got to do
(13:40):
better than that offensively, and we got to make some
big plays. My goal is this, Man, if we can
make four big plays tonight, at least two in the
first half, two in the second, I think that'll be
enough to win the football game. The special teams, the
kicker is good, he's not great. We've got some good
(14:03):
kicker h we have a good punter, good place kicker,
and I think we just don't need to make any
mistakes here. We could if we could cause a turnover
like not let them run kickoffs back or they've got
a lot of speed now, and we got to got
to put the ball in the ends on the first
(14:24):
five minutes of this game. I'm gonna tell you are
going to be very very important. The first five minutes.
We got to set the tone in this game. We
can't come out flat. This is it. We win, we
keep playing, we lose, we go home. Everybody do their
job and let's let's have let's get a win to
(14:47):
not five or six players are going to determine this game.
Van I like that, and hopefully we can make them
there you go.
Speaker 3 (14:52):

Speaker 4 (14:59):

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Also a shout out too in the pregame tonight as
our very own Kelly Fisher, principal at Opelaka High School,
was honored as Principal of the Year in the state
of Alabama. Coach McCracken well deserved amen.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
Miss Fisher did not tell us about that.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
She did not.
Speaker 4 (15:15):
She's a very humble person. So I make sure I'll
get her a candy bar next week. There you going
to miss to her.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
And Miss Fisher had her entire family here to greet
her on the field on the fifty yard line and
she was recognized. Pregame. Baker's Marching Band has just arrived
there taking the taking their seats across the way and
the opal Likeka Spirit of the South Marching band has
already taken the field and performed the pregame anthem and
God bless America and are taking their seats now. Should
(15:44):
be an exciting atmosphere. Fans were piling in here at
five o'clock tonight to grab their special seats here inside
Bulldog Stadium. The first fifteen hundred fans receiving long sleeve
Bulldog black T shirts. It is blackout night tonight here
inside Bulldog Stadium, and everybody decked out tonight in a
black Bulldogs O came out pregame in the red jerseys
(16:04):
and black pants. We'll come back. We'll continue more of
our pregame show and also our coin toss coming up
a bit later on. But first we'll give you our
our pregame game conditions. And that's brought to you by
our friends at First Baptist Church in Opelika. Right now
fifty eight clear skies and should be a nice one tonight.
By the time this one's over with, we'll be dipping
down close to the upper forties. It'll cool on off,
(16:27):
but really good football weather here in November. Don't forget
First Baptist Church in Opelika. You can't make it to church,
you can get your entire worship service every Sunday at
eleven am. Right here on the kicker, we'll quick break
come back with more of a Bulldog Stadium Opelik and
Baker in round two action coming up here on the kicker.

our spoder engineer, and also helping with our host our
halftime show which will be coming up of course a
little bit later on. Mack mccrackett down on the sidelines
has already made his way out onto the field. Mac,
What was the vibe in the locker room?
Speaker 4 (17:22):
They're fired up and ready to play boys. Uh.
Speaker 8 (17:25):
The pregame speech was actually a phenomenal prayer by the
Reverend Money Thomas. They have a great one. They're just
they're they're jacked up, man. I mean, you know you
want to went away from the semifinal you expected to
be this way. Great crowd here on painted Black Knight.
Uh in Opal like the crowd has packed and uh,
(17:46):
let's get.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
To work boys, Tony, another war expected. All right, Thank
you so much.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Mac will be bringing us a lot more throughout tonight's
broadcast and our coin Toss which will be coming up
here very shortly as the captains are making their way
out on the field, coming up here in just a
few moments, and said, I want to remind you. The
AHSAA reminds fans that we all play a role when
enjoying high school sports, be a role model, and display
good sportsmanship at all times. That's a public service announcement
(18:11):
from the Alabama High School Athletic Associations. Well, coach, I
know you know this guy's a real tall guy. On
the season for Baker, their quarterback, take Graham. He is
a six five two twenty five junior. Through the year,
he's one hundred and sixty passes two hundred and forty
seven passes for one hundred and sixty attempts to hundred
(18:32):
forty seven but two thy six hundred and two yards,
twenty seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. He's only carried it
ten times though, for forty yards on the season. He
wants to sit back there in the pocket, Coach McCracken
and take his shots.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
I swear we gotta go get him. You know you
got you got a pressure quarterback like this. If you
remember the Auburn Alabama game two years ago when we
sat back and didn't rush anybody and their quarterback through
that forty one year passing the end zone. Yeah, and
you got to pressure a quarterback like this and make
him do things that he doesn't like to do. Van
(19:08):
and boy, he's a good looking kid. Where are all
these quarterbacks coming from? I tell you you know, I'm
gonna talk to Brian Moore about they caught some. They
need to have some kind of a class to recruit quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Jeez, you're right. Well, our cabins night, Jalen Washington, You've
got Julian Pritchett, also Norman Matthews and Reese Beasley, and
then also a captain is Cadalen Swanson and also number
ten Keelan Banks, wide receiver for the Bulldogs, and across
the way Tank Graham. There a quarterback will be a captain,
(19:45):
and both number ones for the team. That's Kristin White,
Carmelo Taylor, and then also number zero who is Speedy Wheeler,
Jalen Wheeler. They're running back. Will we the captains tonight?
As he is brought to you by Rentals Outdoors. Rentals

all waiting to come out onto the field. The Bulldogs
have yet to completely exit the indoor practice facility, but
both teams now will head towards the middle of the field.
Four tonight's coin toss. Mack McCracken walking in stride as

Speaker 4 (20:46):
Congratulation guys from making in full this round of the playoffs.
The peers the entire referee. I have avoid here. It's
it's tails tails Baker.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
You're on my visiting team. What's your call?
Speaker 4 (21:01):
What did he say? He said too, all right.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
I'm gonna catch it if I drop it, all redo
it again. It is his We wanted tofer here, we
go to all right, So Pelika wins the toss. They
have deferred to the second half, so we'll see this
Baker offense. First up tonight inside Bulldog Stadium. Buckle up,
get ready, Bulldog football comes your way next here on

Speaker 1 (21:48):
Now to the stadium for kickoff of tonight's game. Here
on the Kicker.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Stadium, in complete darkness here in the pregame inside Bulldogs Stadium,
as both teams get ready to take the field. The
opal Lika Bulldogs in a blackout, and boy it is
a blackout, getting the complete darkness here inside the stadium.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
Opalika to the.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
Right, Baker is hope like it to the lemb Baker
to the right, I waited to come out onto the field.
And the opal Lika Bulldogs have taken the field here
inside Bulldogs Stadium, and the Baker Hornets make their way
out onto the field, coach, that's the darkest I've seen
(22:37):
a Fellall stadium.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
In a long time. Oh goodness, incredible. Hey, you know
what I was just thinking about. They got that boy
named Speedy and his last name is gonzale Is is
that great?
Speaker 3 (22:50):
No, Sir Wheeler.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
When I was just making a joke, you remembered the
great Speedy got on dude, And when I was a
little boy, he was one of my favorite cartoon characters.
But anyway, it ought to be a great one. Van.
I'm as nervous as if when I was coaching or
playing right now.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
I thank you and along with a lot of other
Opulakah football fans and hope the players are just ready
to go tonight. And I tell you, Opelike has had
a lot of bulleted board. Nobody given this team a
lot of credit this week for the work that they've
done this season, and everybody on al dot com predictions
this week had Opelika losing this game, and on one
particular site, the historical site that's based out of the
(23:31):
Mobile area, had ople like a nine point underdog going
into this game tonight. And that's something that coach Mores
has made sure his players have known this week, but
Baker will have a chance to make the statement early
tonight as they will get the football to start the game.
They line up to our left to receive, where He's
easily has it teed up at the forty yard line.
Opelaika will kick from right to left. Opelika kicking towards
(23:53):
the indoor facility here at Bulldog Stadium, van.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
On Baker's dressed out. I need two players in hope,
like one hundred and twelve, so we got two hundred
kids going after each other tonight.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Should be fun. Rays Beasley with it teed up and
a packed stand here on the home side. Good crowd
from Baker, and that one sails way into the INDs
on no chance for the Hornets to return that one.
Tate Graham the quarterback four Baker we set one hundred
and sixty two forty seven two thousand, six hundred and
(24:30):
two yards, twenty seven touchdowns, seven interceptions. Jalen Wheeler has
rushed in one hundred and thirteen times for over one
thousand yards fifteen touchdowns. He does have an eighty yard run.
But the guy you got to watch out for number
five Katory Marriad five eleven.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
One hundred and seventy pounds senior.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
He's got forty eight catches, nine hundred and eighty five yards,
and he's got thirteen touchdowns. A three star South Alabama commit.
Speaker 4 (24:52):
Yeah, they're gonna come out. They gonna do a little
of everything. I believe.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
They'll start from their own twenty yard line first and ten,
and are the Baker Hornets. They lined up with four
wide to the right, and now they'll shift and line
up with trips to the right side. They'll throw a
screen pass here to the near side of the field.
It is caught broken tackle. There comes up of that
speed from Baker all the way across the forty yard line,
broke a couple tackles and gets it up to the
(25:17):
forty one yard line for a twenty one yard pick
up there on a little screen pass here on the
near side at a first down for the Hornets. Actually
give them the forty two You've got to.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
Put more pressure on those outside guys.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
That was Joshua Jones with a reception for Baker, and
just like that, they're getting close to midfield from their
own forty two yard line. On that one play, grim
out of the shotgun hands the ball off to the tailback.
Wheeler goes down back of the thirty eight yard line,
Isaiah Gray greeks him for a two yard.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
Loss, and we go, and we go.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
They'll mark it down at the forty yard line, a
loss of two, and it'll be second down and twelve.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
Nice job, nice job by the d right there.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Opening drive of the game here for the Hornets. A
quick twenty yard pickup on a screen pass and a
loss of two at second and twelve. Under eleven to
play just underway here and.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
They move and there's a flack. They're left cackle moved.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
And one thing, coach, we noticed it last week and
hew At Trustful, how close the fans are here at
Bulldog Stadium.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
To the action? Oh yes, it's a lot different.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Yeah, we were about fifty yards away from from the
playing surface at Hewitt Trustful.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
Maybe longer.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
Oh no, no, what they called me in on us? Boy,
they called off sides on Opelanka.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Oh that is terrible. I'm sorry, but that is terrible.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
Well, that'll bring the football up to the forty five
yard line now and it will be second down and
stepping for Baker. Baker now with three wide to the
left side and quarterback throws caught at the forty eight
turned up field as Jones again on the reception. He
got a first down as Dorman Matthews on the stop
and pass complete down to the forty seven yard line
(27:06):
of Opalaika. That was a pickup of eight yards.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
We're playing these guys. We can't play these guys this soft.
You better get it. You're gonna have to get somebody
up in the face.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
Trips right, sing a receiver to the left side. Graham
drops back, quick throw, nearly picked off all most intercepted
by Jamel Griffin. He jumped that route and almost took
it to the house. Oh, second down and ten, boy,
that was close.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
Somebody already got on him about getting a fair little closer.
That's good.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
Second down in ten here for the Hornets. So far,
all passing plays one run play went for minus two.
Now line up now with four receivers to the right
side of the field here on second down and ten.
Now they'll bring a man in motion from right to left.
Graham hard count. Now he'll bring his back in motion.
Gram drops back, looks to the right. Now I throw
(28:03):
back to the tailback who's got a lot of open room.
Cut down though at the forty yard line. Oh my goodness,
they gave them ford progress or gave them up for
almost around the forty one. Braden Howard there on the stop,
but it'll set up a third and of two coming
up for the Hornets. Got down to the thirty nine
yard line, an eight yard pickup, third down two and
(28:28):
the cow bells ringing here at Bulldog Stadium nine forty
to play open and drive here for the Baker Hornets.
Baker taking their time checking the sidelines, making sure they
get the right play in Graham. They've yet to start
(28:49):
the play clock. Graham drops back, throws and it is
underthrown and incomplete at the twenty eight yard line, trying
to get it to Joshua Jones, who's been the go
to receiver. And now it's fourth down. We'll see what
coach Aaron Scott decides to do. It looks like the
offense will stay out here for the moment. A lot
of shuffling around on that sideline seeing what Baker decides
(29:12):
to do here. Looks like they're going to go for
it here on fourth down. Flock stopped after they didn't
complete pass with nine to twenty to play first quarter
and Baker keeps the offense out fourth and two. Big
down here for the Bulldog defense early in this game.
Five white look three to the left short side of
the field, two to the right, empty backfield. Graham punk
(29:32):
fakes throws and it is caught. Boy, a tight window
at the thirty yard line, but he just threaded the
needle and got it for the first down down around
the twenty eight yard line as he hooked up with
Carmelo Taylor for the first down by a eleven yard
pickup and a first down. Boy, what a tight was
in between two defenders too, really well placed ball there
(29:56):
by Tate Graham, TJ.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Thomas, Josh Davis, Monty Thomas, Res Thomas up.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Front, first and ten inside the thirty at the opal
like a twenty eight yard line. Here's a handoff. I'm
sacked back at the twenty back of the thirty five
yard line. That'll be a loss of seven yards. Jay
Holloway and on the hint as that one's trying to
be a double handoff and blown up by the Bulldogs,
Well we're.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
Getting We're really doing a good job with our.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Front seven yard loss on the play, Burt's back to
the thirty five.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Burtson Harris at the linebackers Griffin and Braden Howard at
the corners.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
Second out of seventeen, Graham drops back, fade, passed deep,
got a man opened down field, and it is incomplete
at the goal line, and there comes the flags for
past interference.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
Got bumped.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
And the defense got beat on that one there trying
to get it to Katory Mary and their speedster yep,
and a flag comes in there at the end of
that play. It'll be a fifteen yard pen not enough
for the first down, but it will be a second
down and very short. Eight thirty to go here the
first quarter, scoreless game, and it will be second and
(31:14):
two actually, as that penalty puts it all the way
down to the twenty yard line of Opalaiko Baker opening
dry marching down the field, dogs trying to get a
stop here. Graham rolls to the right, throws and it
is caught at the ten yard line and out of bounds.
A quick ten yard pickup. Joshua Jones on the reception,
only needed two yards. We'll pick up the first down
(31:35):
and it will be first in goal for Baker at
the tedd and sometimes ope like his defense has been
ben but don't break. Hopefully can come up with a
mixed up and keep the Hornets out of the end zone.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
Here, yeah it.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Graham empty backfield five wide, look three to the left,
two to the right, throws and incomplete. And the quarterback
took a shot at the end of that one, pressured
by Jay Holloway and tray Stone. Second down in ten incomplete,
tried to get it to Joshua Jones at the corner
of the end zone near the pylon. Eight twenty one
(32:10):
to play out of the first quarter.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
We've got to play tight up on these guys and
we got to pressure them. You're right that quarterback does
not want to run the ball.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Scoreless game eight twenty one to play first quarter. They'll
bring a man in motion for right to left, Graham
out of the shotgun, he'll roll to the left, throws,
got his man inside the five yard line, lunges ahead,
and he'll he held up right there at the five.
Norman Matthews on the stop. It'll be third and goal
from right at the five yard line for Baker, So
(32:43):
third and goal from the five. Their field goal kicker
has only attempted one at field goal on the season.
One for four, big play right here, he is fifty
for fifty two for Pats. They'll go wild Kent here
with Wheeler out of the shotgun. He wants to run
it to the left side.
Speaker 4 (33:01):
How they strung out no gain.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
He may have picked up a yard Norman Matthews with
good coverage as he knocked him out right at the five.
They'll give him no gain on the play. So here
we go fourth and go from the five. Big down
here for the Bulldog defense coming up. Oh they gonna
go far or oh yeah, they don't kick many field goals.
Eric Scott looks like he's gonna keep his offense out
(33:24):
on the field. Now he'll send the quarterback in and
it looks like they will try to kick a field
goal here. Coach McCracken. Well on the stats I had
on Cason Lawrence, he's only one for two, one for
four on field goals along a thirty four. This will
certainly be in his range and that kick is good.
(33:49):
So Baker gets on the board. The Bulldogs will keep
him to three, though, and with seven thirty nine to
go here in the opening quarner, Baker takes a three
to nothing lead, and you're listening to do. But like
a Bulldog football, we're back after this time out on
the kicker, Hello, opelike just sees how dangerous this Baker
(34:11):
offense can be. They marched it down the field, got
it to the five yard line, settle for a twenty
one yard field goal, and Baker takes the three to
nothing lead. Here is the kick end of her endkick.
We'll be returnable here for Opali get the five yard line.
See if CJ can get a good return here twenty
five CJ thirty broke a tackle CJ thirty five and
across the forty and out of bounds on around the
forty three yard line. A big time return there by CJ.
(34:33):
Johnson Trey Stone with a good blockhown Field leading the way.
Speaker 4 (34:37):
There for CJ.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
And with Cooper and the offense, we'll have the ball
for their own forty three yard line to open up
the Bulldogs first chance on offense.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
Here they had sixty three yards throwing and ten yards running.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
With Cooper fifty one completions on the eighty seven attempts,
seven hundred and nineteen yard, six touchdowns, three interceptions. He'll
start from his own forty three yard line. Cooper drops
back throws and it is caught by Jalen Washington. But
that one just took a little too much time.
Speaker 4 (35:11):
You got to get it out there faster than that.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
Yeah, that one hugging the air a little too high,
little too long, and they were able to wrap up
Jalen back of the thirty eight yard line.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
So that's going to be a loss of.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
Loss of six yards dead gum it, they'll say loss
of five second down to fifteen.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
Cooper brings a man in motion, that's CJ.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Johnson. Now they'll fake it to CJ. Throw out into
the flats Washington again with a catch, and Washington stopped
shy of the forty five yard line. They'll give them
the forty five, so they pick up of seven yards.
Hope all I could coming out going to the air
right off the bat here with with Cooper, see J.
(35:57):
Johnson the tailback lining up to the left.
Speaker 4 (35:59):
Here a wit.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
It'll be third down and eight after that completion Bulldogs
from there on forty five yard line. Look for a
screen right here, then to the left, and you've got
Washington to the right. Blake Johnson also lined up to
the right. Cooper will go out of the shot gun.
How he'll bring a man in motion. Wit gets the
(36:20):
snamp play action, dropping back, trying to find somebody down field,
flicks it to CJ. It is caught, but not much there.
CJ actually lose a couple of yards back to around
the forty one yard line and just couldn't.
Speaker 4 (36:32):
Get anything going there.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
That was a good stop by Baker, going to force
Opelika with a three and out, and I have to
give the football right back to this Baker offense. So
not a good starting offensively for Opelikah tried to go
to the air a lot as Opelike I'm sure was
anticipating Baker to load that box as they were, but
couldn't get anything going through the air there. Reese Beasley
stands at the twenty seven yard line, gets the snamp.
(36:55):
Reese rolls to his right and takes all day and
boots it away and it hits inside the twenty and
we'll roll all the way down inside the five down
to the four yard line. A heck of a boot boy.
Reese almost could have took off and ran with that one.
As just about everybody from Baker vacated the line of scrimmage.
(37:16):
Something to keep an eye on later in the game,
as Reese may take off on one of those, but
they'll have pinned Baker back from their own four yard line.
As the Hornets will come out first and ten. We
got five to fifty one to play here in the
first quarter, Baker leading three to nothing here inside Bulldog Stadium.
As Opalaika's offense one time out, a three and out,
(37:36):
Baker a lot much, a lot of success offensively. But
they'll start from their own four yard line. Graham out
of the shotgun, few steps in his own end zone.
They'll hand it to Wheeler and got a scene there's
Wheeler carries it up close to the eighteen yard line.
They'll give them the nineteen yard line. Actually stopped him
(38:02):
at around the fourteen yard line. I should say we've
got to do better than net on first down. Van,
they'll say the thirteen. So it'll be second down in
one Graham out of the shotgun. He'll move a man
in motion. Second down in one play, quick hand off
and Wheeler again. Boy, he gets face planted, pays fourth
(38:24):
it gets the first down, carries it up to the
eighteen yard line before he pick up a close to
five yards. Norman Matthews with a good souplex tackle there
on Jalen Wheeler. First down Baker from their own eighteen
yard line five h three o clock. Running here in
the first quarter, Hornets leading three to nothing. In with
the football first and ten from their ONW eighteen. Graham
(38:48):
drops back, throws and incomplete. Boy tried to get it
to Wheeler and again good coverage. Braden Howard almost had
an opportunity to get a pick on that one. Bulldo
I was gonna come await one of those coach here shortly, yes, sir,
out of feeling. Second down in ten after that incomplete
pass Baker from their own eighteen yard line. Bulldogs will
bring some substitutions in to rest Thomas and Isaiah Gray
(39:08):
will check out coming to you for the Orthopedic Clinic
Broadcast Booth, East Alabama's go to center for orthopedic care
online at the Orthoclinic dot com.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
Keep pressure on the quarterback now, you don't want to
let him throw.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
Well, he gets it out quick. Boy hard to get
to him to either side. Graham drops back now here
comes some pressure on him and he rolls here to
the near side. There's going to be a flag that
should be a hold, and I believe it is a
hold against Baker, and see if coach More will take him. Well,
you rather have third and ten or second down and long? Coach,
(39:47):
what do you think?
Speaker 4 (39:48):
Third and ten? Third and ten? I decline it.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
He did decline it down, so it'll be third down
and ten hopefully like it declines the whole penalty and
a big down here for the Bulldogs and hopefully we'll
be like and stop this Hornet team and get good
field position.
Speaker 4 (40:05):
Here's got great Riddle Holloway and feeling rushing and t J.
Speaker 3 (40:11):
Thomas hope like a crowd getting on their feet. Four
forty six to play. First quarter, big third down and
ten here for Baker. From there on, eighteen trips to
the left side for Graham, he drops back, pressure comes
throws and it is caught turned up field. There's a
flag down on the play and tackle made at the
(40:34):
forty two yard line. We're gonna be another penalty on
this offensive line for Baker. That's a hold against the Hornets.
I'm amady tried to hold Tremaine Thomas up on that
offensive line.
Speaker 4 (40:45):
Cake the penalty this time?
Speaker 3 (40:46):
Absolutely, yeah, no brainer there right, it's gonna be ten yards.
Speaker 5 (40:52):
Let me.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
So big penalty there that in negates that pick up
which would have been good for about twenty three yards.
And now with four thirty seven, that'll back the Hornets
up inside the ten back to the eight yard line
here on this third and long play, four thirty five
to play here in the first quarter, Hornets lead Opelikah
(41:20):
three nothing. This will be a third and eighteen for
Baker two wide to the left. They'll bring them back
out of the backfield. Graham steps up in the pocket,
surveys the field, throws down field and it's incomplete at
the thirty eight yard line. Had a man there under
through Joshua Jones, and it is fourth down.
Speaker 4 (41:40):
Jay battle on.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
Good coverage for the Bulldogs and a good defensive series
for the Bulldogs there and hopefully Opeli can get some
good field position. Andre Van will stand on this side
of the fifty to try to get a good return
here as the punter fort Baker, Yeah, this cash back
in the end zone case and Lawrence he stands at
the l of Opelik in the zone.
Speaker 4 (42:00):
He's been he kicked at thirty five forty in pre
game and he awaits the snap, gets there.
Speaker 3 (42:09):
Oh, and the punt just about guy blocked. Maybe maybe
he blocked it. He shanked it though, and it's going
to be down at the twenty seven yard line. Great joy,
I'm getting pressure in there. That was Jamal and Griffin
getting in there on the punter case. And Lawrence may
have got a piece of that one. If not, he
certainly affected that one. And the Bulldogs have it at
the twenty seven yard line of Baker good field position.
(42:32):
Now got to make him pay for it. Bulldogs first
and ten at the Baker twenty seven.
Speaker 4 (42:43):
Get that running game going.
Speaker 3 (42:47):
They'll bring a man in motion and a flag down
on the play. And ain't gonna be a procedure penalty
against Opalaika. Four oh six to play here in the
(43:07):
first quarter and a five yard penalty against Opalaika. So
Bulldogs have it at the Baker thirty two, one wide
out either side, and.
Speaker 4 (43:20):
Here's a hand off to CJ.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
Johnson trying to find some running ROUNDJ broke through across
the twenty five. CJ dragging defenders down to the twenty
one yard line. That is a thirteen yard are right
at a eleven yard pickup. Astley maytime run by CJ.
Speaker 4 (43:37):
Johnson, Mason, Witrow, Fears, Gillard, Pritchett, and Howel up front.
Good y'all.
Speaker 3 (43:44):
Second down in four or actually second in a second
in five here for the Bulldogs on hand, it back
to CJ. CJ good hole inside the fifteen. That's a
first down rulling. CJ is still dragging offenders down to
the eleven yard line, and that will be an eleven
yard pick up, or down to the eleven for a
nine to ten yard pickup and a Lambert transferring Storats
(44:06):
first down.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
They do not have a big front van, No, they don't.
They're not a bit real big. I hope we can
just keep blocking them.
Speaker 3 (44:16):
Jalen Nelson checks of the ball game to give CJ
a breather. It'll be I formation now for Opalaika. They'll
hand it to the big fellow CJ. No Blake, the
Hammer Johnson. He's down across the five. I'll mark him
down actually at the five yard line for a six
yard pickup. So the Hammer checks in of the Bulldogs
knocking on the door. They can pick up a first
down at the one yard line. It'll be second down
(44:38):
at the five yard line. I formation again here for
the Bulldogs They'll hand it back to Blake Blake down
close to the three yard line, and this will set
up a third down and right at a third and one.
If you didn't get the first down. Yeah, he didn't
get the first down. It's gonna be third and two.
It looks like yeah, third and two. CEJ Johnson checks
(44:59):
back in the ball game. Opalaikah going big boy football
here inside the five, third down and two at the
right at the four yard line, a Baker I formation again.
They'll give it a Blake and he's in the end zone.
Touchdown Bullows Hammer time and with two oh nine to go,
(45:21):
the Opalaika Bulldogs take a six to three lead on
the Baker Hornets here inside Bulldog Stadium. Here's the point
(45:45):
after attempt for Opalaika and Reyes Beasley for the extra point,
up and good. The Dog's on top seven and nothing
over Baker two oh seven to play in the first quarter.
That scoring drive powered by Ophlaka Power Services hometown people
working for you online at Opalaka power dot com. Back
after this time out, Dogs lead at seven to three
(46:06):
with two o seven to go. Here in the first quarter,
el a shank punt by Baker and the Bulldogs make
the Baker Hornets pay for that one starting field position
at the twenty eight yard line, and Opalaca marches it
in for the first touchdown of the night by either team.
(46:27):
Opal like a leading Baker now seven to three, two
O seven to play here in the first quarter. That
end over end kick we'll be with dropped actually down
to the five yard line, picked up by Baker and
hit down inside the ten. What a stick by Jamel
Griffin on special teams as he knocked down the returner
there Katory Marion and knocked him down at around the
(46:49):
eight yard line, and Baker backed up again.
Speaker 4 (46:51):
Hey, we got to look at something. No word, we're
going here. Their quarterback. You're right, man, a quarterback is
not wanting.
Speaker 3 (46:58):
To run the ball, Oh sir, he doesn't.
Speaker 4 (47:00):
So we just need to keep putting this heavy pressure
on him and don't don't don't get beat deep, but
don't get our corners in safeties off too deep.
Speaker 3 (47:09):
Two O two to play here in the first quarter,
Opal like a leading seven to three. When becomes Graham, God,
we could make a big play down here, Jim. Maybe
that interception, coaches is sitting there in the back pocket
here for us Graham out of the shotgun from his
own eight yard line. They'll bring wheeler in motion. Graham
drops back throws it to a wheeler out of the backfield,
and he's brought down right at the line of scrimmage.
(47:30):
A heck of a stop by Norman Matthews. Storming Norman,
as coach Massey calls him, and he was storming down
on that one. And as a second down in ten,
actually they'll give him a yard somehow up till around
the nine, so it'll be second down to nine for Baker.
We will get out to see Mac McCracken coming up
here in just a bit with a four seasons Federal
Credit Union sideline report. Game's been going really quick, but
(47:54):
Mac be ready for an in depth report. We're coming
to you one eight o clock running here in the
first quarter, Baker brings a man in motion. Graham drops
back throws in a high pass but caught but dropped
down shy of the fifteen there at the fourteen yard line.
A good stop there by Xavier Thomas for Opalaika. It'll
(48:16):
bring up another third down here for Baker. A third
down and four coming up for the Hornet.
Speaker 4 (48:21):
Oh, big play right here. Big play.
Speaker 3 (48:27):
That pass was good for five yards. It'll be third
and four, under a minute to play here in the
first quarter. Big down here for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 4 (48:34):
They're gonna try something short, a quick pass.
Speaker 3 (48:39):
Bulldog fans breaking out the cow mills tonight, making noise
on their feet. Here on this third and four, Graham
empties the backfield drop back pressure. He's sacked down at
the seven yard line. What a play, Money Thomas, Elijah
Odin and the crew.
Speaker 4 (49:00):
Great pressure there by the Bulldog's.
Speaker 3 (49:01):
Fourth down, twenty three seconds clock running, and here comes
the punt team for Baker.
Speaker 4 (49:09):
Big big play right there.
Speaker 3 (49:12):
Money Thomas, as Max said, he had the message to
the team before the game, and he made big time
pressure along with the rest of the Dogs on that one.
Speaker 4 (49:23):
Or to get great field position here they might begin.
Speaker 3 (49:27):
The first quarter comes to a close before they can
punt this one away, So we'll head to the second quarter.
We come back. Hey, visit with Matt mccrackett on the
other side. You listen to the Bulldog football. I'm the kicker.
Speaker 5 (49:37):
I'll kill you.
Speaker 3 (49:46):
Heading to the second quarter, ople like a leading Baker
seven to three, and now the Hornet's having to punt
from their own end zone as case, and Lawrence stands
behind the l here at the very back of the
end zone to wait this snap. Bulldog's almost got a
piece of the last one. I believe the this one
another shank, and this punt's gonna hit inside the thirty
and bouncing around the thirty one yard line, Sople I
(50:06):
can have really good field position as we head down
for that four Seasons Federal Credit Union Sideline Report, mag
What you got for us.
Speaker 4 (50:12):
Hey, Van, thanks a lot.
Speaker 5 (50:13):
Hey.
Speaker 8 (50:13):
You know, during that first offense drive us here when
coach Atkins try to get with little bit confidence on
him with some passes, but we went back to the
good old opal like a run game. Coach Fleming went
bonkers in the in the in the tent right there,
a bunch of pack of dogs just saying they cannot
stop our run boys.
Speaker 4 (50:28):
And defensively, those pack of dogs have been after that
quarterback on night. Yeah, yeah they don't. They're not real
big on defense. Mac, all right, thank you.
Speaker 3 (50:36):
Back at four Seasons Federal Credit Union Sideline Report, Oplika
goes out of the gun at the thirty yard line,
the starting field position with Cooper two receivers to the right,
but they'll give it to CJ. Johnson and CJ Head
at the line of scrimmage and picks up a yard
down to the twenty nine yard line and a lot
better job defending the run there by Baker's defense. But
they're bringing everybody crashing down to try to stop this run.
(51:00):
And maybe that's when you can hit him over the
top of one of those big pass plays to maybe
Andre or Jalen.
Speaker 4 (51:06):
Yeah, I agree with you.
Speaker 3 (51:07):
Van eleven twenty seven to go here in the first
half of like up seven to three on Baker. Here
at Bulldog Stadium, second round seven a football action cee J.
Johnson the tailback behind Cooper, they'll get the stamp play
action they do try to go over the tie. Boy,
j oh, he's getting held Andre Van no flag, Oh
my goodness, that is horrible. Andre. Then he couldn't even
(51:32):
get his arm. Oh and now we're gonna get a
flag on coach Moore. Boy, this is awful. Sideline warning
I believe is what it will be. But that was
absolutely atrocious.
Speaker 4 (51:47):
Guy grabbed a hold of him. Vain.
Speaker 3 (51:50):
That was everybody on the Opalaika side knew that one.
Andre couldn't get loose if nothing else. That's a whole
It may not have been full blown pass interference, but
it was a whole downfield. He was beat. I have
to shake it off. Here thirty nine Bulldogs inside the
thirty down of the twenty nine A Baker, Jalen Nelson
the tailback for the Bulldogs. They'll bring a man in
(52:12):
motion and here's a quick inside flip to Blake Johnson.
And that one was defended very well by Baker, only
a couple of yards. But you're in three territory here
for the big field goal kicker Reese Beasley right in
the middle of the field too, So Opelika certainly wanted
to put it in the end zone.
Speaker 4 (52:29):
Boy, that was said that that was terrible.
Speaker 3 (52:32):
That was that was a tough call. There no doubt
about that late man coming on for the Bulldogs here
on this field goal attempt, the forty four yarder from
right in the middle of the field.
Speaker 4 (52:41):
And it is a fake.
Speaker 3 (52:42):
They snuck Jalen on the field inside the ten five
touchdown touchdown Bulldogs. Oh there's a flag on the side.
Coach Moore is going absolutely ballistic. This was the old sneak.
The man on the field. He goes over to the
white hat to try to converse with him. I'm sure
(53:03):
this is something Coach Moore talking to the white hat
before the game.
Speaker 4 (53:06):
Yes, sir, you definitely they had better not take this
one away.
Speaker 3 (53:11):
Oh what a huge call this he is, that's the
same guy. Yeah, he certainly heard an earful from Coach
Moore on the previous play.
Speaker 4 (53:24):
Boy Boy.
Speaker 3 (53:32):
Coach Moore, I'm gonna have to compose himself as he
wants to bring the white hat over Opelaika try to
sneak the man on the field. Play Coach Moore is
is absolutely beside himself.
Speaker 4 (53:50):
He told that guy.
Speaker 3 (53:54):
Ooy. Coach Moore is having a whether they're not gonna
in this one. Coach Moore is absolutely beside himself. A
touchdown wiped off the board and now Polaika will have
(54:18):
to send out the punting team. Gosh, after that penalty
touchdown wiped off the board, Mac, when you get a
six chance.
Speaker 4 (54:29):
To let us know, all right, come down to him,
all right.
Speaker 8 (54:32):
Coach Coach Moore and told that official before the game
of that trick, play like you're supposed to do, and
then they just waved it off.
Speaker 4 (54:39):
So as you can see, he's really hot. Yeah, and
now the punt is stopped.
Speaker 3 (54:47):
A flag on the play, And I would imagine anytime
you run a trick play like that, you always tell
the officials, and then they threw a flag on it.
So it really doesn't make any sense. What is called
Coach Moore, Oh my goodness, now they throw them. Now
they're going to throw a fifteen yarder on the coach
war a horrible pass interference call, and then they wipe
(55:14):
a touchdown off and now Reese is backed up. They're
gonna punt it now from the forty three yard line.
Hope Alika from there on at forty three and two
deep returners here for Baker, and they got speed on
(55:35):
the return to Reese, gets a snap, rolls, Reese takes
his time, puts a boot into.
Speaker 4 (55:43):
That one, and.
Speaker 3 (55:46):
It will hit down at the ten and take another
good roll all the way down close to the six
yard line. Great job Reese holding up as long as
he could and it will pin Baker down to the
six yard line. But boy, some big tough calls there.
A huge pass interference call that was blown by the
officiating crew, and then you turn around to wipe off
a touchdown off the board. How many times has that
(56:09):
flavor ran against US coach. I've rend it about three
years ago on US, and I've run.
Speaker 4 (56:16):
That before, but I've always told the official, just like
Brian did.
Speaker 3 (56:19):
Before the game, overcome it. Here we go Baker with
a football from there on six yard line. Come on defense,
they just moved flag five yards. Well, let's make sure
there's a long conversation.
Speaker 4 (56:44):
God, this is motioning.
Speaker 3 (56:49):
Oh my goodness, there is a long conversation here with
officiating crew. I don't know why they're talking to the
Baker players. They're gonna give it on this. It's gonna
be a off off sides on the opal Aker bill
the first time, five yard penalty and that will move
(57:14):
it up to the eleven yard line. First down and
five here for the Hornets. Graham out of the shotgun
fight out either side here for Baker. Graham pressured and
(57:37):
he's hit sacked back of the eight yard line. Carson
Riddle in there for the Bulldogs and it will be
second down to eight coming up here for the Hornets.
Speaker 4 (57:47):
He didn't play. He played on Friday night, but Brian
said that he's he's ready to go.
Speaker 3 (57:56):
Mister Riddle in there and second and eight ball back
inside the ten yard line, down at the nine.
Speaker 4 (58:02):
Well, we need to we need to take charge of
this game right here.
Speaker 3 (58:07):
Two wides to the left side. Gotta watch Wheeler, the tailback.
Graham gets the snap, the handoff goes to Wheeler and
he's hit at the ten, gets up right to the
eleven yard line. That'll be a three yard pickup and
it will set up third down. Lake Drick burts in
on the stop for the Bulldogs at a third and
seven coming up here for Baker, they'll need to get
(58:34):
it up to the seventeen yard line for the first down.
Speaker 4 (58:39):
Don't let me, don't play these white apps to soft
up there in.
Speaker 3 (58:42):
The all at the ten yard line here for Baker,
Graham drops facts, got time floats one and it is
hauled in right at the first down marker and caught
at the eighteen yard line. Joshua Jones on the reception,
and that is a seven yard pickup right at the
sticks for the first down for Baker.
Speaker 4 (59:02):
That's just what I told.
Speaker 3 (59:05):
Nine minutes to play here in the first half, Opelika
leading seven to three. Baker, though with a big third
down pickup and two white outs to the left side
of the field. And Graham out of the shotgun, Wheeler
to the left, single receiver to the right side. Here
for Graham on first down, quarterback drops back, fade passed
(59:26):
down field. Good coverage by the Bulldogs and that was
hauled in and caught Joshua Jones on the snag. He
went over Brandon Howard and caught that one. He won
that battle for a big time pickup and a Baker
first down all the way up to the forty seven
yard line. That's a twenty eight yard pickup. Well, that
(59:51):
was good coverage there by Opel like of it, but
a better reception there by well Baker.
Speaker 4 (59:56):
He threw the ball in three seconds too, I mean
it didn't we pressure.
Speaker 3 (59:59):
To Graham, drops back, hands it too, Wheeler not much there,
picked up a yard up to the forty eight yard line.
Xavier Thomas on the stop for the Bulldogs. Second down
and nine coming up here for Baker. Under eight minutes
to go here in the first half seven to three,
Opaliico with the lead, but the Hornet's nearing midfield, moving
(01:00:21):
from right to left. Seven forty five to play here
in this first half, two wides to the left side,
single receiver to the right, and a quiet night for
number five to Tory Marian. Hopefully he didn't get going here.
Here's a handoff to Wheeler. Hit spins her off a
(01:00:41):
defender and he's gotten the first down as he carries
it down to the forty yard line for a twelve
yard pickup. He just bounced off a defender like a
pinball and he gets the first down for Baker and
Tonius Peters comes in on the stop down to the forty.
Baker goes first and ten. We got tackle better than that. Boys,
come on one yep. Can't lay a shoulder pad into
(01:01:03):
mister Wheeler. He will make you pay and I have
to wrap him up. Two wide either side. Graham out
of the shotgun again. Wheeler the loan back to his
right at the forty of Opelika. Graham drops back, pressure,
steps up in the pocket, throws and well overshot his
intended wide out Katory Mary and tried to get it
to the playmaker across the middle, but had him there.
(01:01:25):
Just threw that one too high second down in ten
seven oh one to play in the first half. Clock
stopped with that incomplete pass. Coming to you for the
Orthopedic Clinic broadcast, Boothy's Telabama's go to center for orthopedic
care online at the Orthoclinic dot com. And Graham checks
the sidelines for his play here at the opal like
a forty yard line, second down in ten for the Hornets.
(01:01:48):
Clock stop right now with seven oh one to play.
Speaker 4 (01:01:50):
Thomas Thomas, Thomas and josh Davis.
Speaker 3 (01:01:54):
Come on two wide left. They'll bring a man in
motion Jones from right to left. They'll hand it to Wheeler.
Wheeler the hole inside the thirty five just about broken
a touchdown saving stop by Leakedrick Burks as he wrapped
up Wheeler after he got the first down, and he
picks up down to the twenty six yard line. That
good for fourteen yards and it will be first and ten.
(01:02:18):
Baker at the twenty six of Opalaika.
Speaker 4 (01:02:22):
Let him do this to you.
Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
Six point forty to play here in the first half.
Five wide look here for Baker three to the left
too to the right. Graham drops back, throws a slant
across the middle, complete at the eleven yard line inside
the ten down around the eight yard line. Joshua Jones
on the reception and Leakedrick Burks I believe on the
(01:02:45):
stop for the Bulldogs and wide receiver and the the
Fender Burks got tangled up there on the play, but
it'll be a first and goal for the Hornets. Joshua
Jones has come out. His helmet came off on the play.
Horn that's trying to take the league find the end
(01:03:06):
zone for the first time tonight. They're moving down the
field here first in goal at the seven of Oplaika.
See if the Dogs could come up with another big
stop here. Six tend to go here in the first
town two wide to the left, single receiver to the right.
Graham out of the shotgun, gets the stamp, rolls here
(01:03:26):
to the near side, steps and throws it in the
ground as he got hit back in the seventeen yard line.
There's a flag down on the play.
Speaker 4 (01:03:37):
This is intentional ground tea. Yeah, it may be he
threw it right out our guy. It wasn't. Nobody clops.
Speaker 3 (01:03:44):
I'll wait and see. That was from the side judge
who threw it. He threw it late, both uh shy,
just back, judge white hat, come over to talk this
one over here with five fifty six to play in
the first quarter, was first first half. I should say,
(01:04:06):
what wit A really long conversation here, so I will
be intentional grounding. I don't think it went beyond the
line of scrimmage was the kicker there, and it will
be a loss of down, So we'll be second down
coming up, and coach Eric Scott hands on his hips.
(01:04:27):
There's a time out on the field, so we'll step
aside time out here with a second down and goal
coming up here for the Hornets with five fifty six
to play. You're listening to Bulldog football here on the
kicker back here at Bulldog Stadium, up like a leading
(01:04:49):
Baker seven to three, five fifty six to play here
in this second quarter. A timeout taken on the field
by Baker coach Eric Scott as Baker was just flying
for an intentional grounding. They'll have a second and goal
from inside the twenty yard line at the Bulldog eighteen
when play resumes here, and coach got to keep them
out of the end zone here and try to keep
(01:05:09):
this lead here over like we'll get the football to
start the second half too, southing to keep in mind, Well, we.
Speaker 4 (01:05:15):
Got plenty of time left, Van We need to make
a good play here this second down. Correct, it will
be to let them run the ball down the field
on us like that, and we let them catch a
slam up the top minute ago. Just played some bad defense.
Speaker 3 (01:05:33):
Baker is the one scene from Region one in Mobile.
They finished Region play six and one. Mary Montgomery the
two seed finishing six and one, but Baker had the
tiebreaker over Mary Montgomery from their win earlier in the
season at Mary Montgomery. Really impressive forty three twenty eight
win for the Hornets. They're fair Hope and Daphne rounding
out and Daphney trailing Auburn right now in their home
(01:05:55):
field down in the Mobile area in central leading fair
Hope and a tight when seventeen fifteen in the second quarter,
that one end fair Hope as well. Only team from
the Mobile area up this way is this Baker Hornet
team and they trail right now seven to three to Opelaikah.
But they've got a second and goal at the eighteen.
As we start back play here for Opelaikah. On defense,
(01:06:19):
Graham Gonna Roll got pressure, throws back and it is incomplete.
Speaker 4 (01:06:23):
Under threw his intended receiver. Good job, good job that.
Speaker 3 (01:06:27):
Was intended for Cameron Moody. Antonius Peters, good coverage for
the Bulldogs. Third goal from the eighteen Now coming up
here for Baker.
Speaker 4 (01:06:36):
You know they're gonna throw here now.
Speaker 3 (01:06:41):
And their lone score twenty one yard field goal back
with seven thirty nine to play in the first quarter, They're.
Speaker 4 (01:06:49):
Gonna throw this up.
Speaker 3 (01:06:50):
Opelikah crowd on their feet. A third and goal for
Baker at the Bulldog eighteen yard line. Trips to the
right side. Quarterback Pressure rolls to the right, throws back
of the end zone and it is incomplete. Overshot his
intended receiver that was intended for number four Jamie and Pryor,
and it's incomplete. Xavier Thomas with good coverage in the
(01:07:13):
back of the end zone for the Bulldogs, and we'll
see if they decide to take another shot at the
field goal. Looks like they will And my stats were correct.
He had only made one field goal coming into tonight,
but I'm second guessing myself on that one. Now, Ford
in back's press thirty thirty five yarder. He made a
twenty one yarder earlier. That's a thirty five yarder here
(01:07:35):
with five forty four to play here in the first
half from the left pass hold is good and that
kick is just through there and good. So it's a
one point game now seven to six, but opal like
up by one here with five forty to play, Bulldogs,
We'll get the football when we come back. You're listening, Nope,
like a Bulldog football here on the kicker. Big series
(01:08:06):
coming up here for Opela, Like you get the football back.
Here is a lead Baker, but by one here seven
to six. Ornents have been held out of the end
zone twice as they gotten down to the red zone,
settled for field goals both times end over end kick CJ.
We'll have a chance to return it here taking at
the four, CJ crossed the fifteen and at the twenty
yard line, makes a cut at the twenty five and
(01:08:26):
CJ up close to the thirty yard line. Good return
there by CJ. Johnson. Now Oplaka's offense got to come
out and do something here, opeal like as one score
came on a short field and they had the football
at the Baker twenty eight yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:08:40):
We've had eleven snaps.
Speaker 3 (01:08:42):
I was about to say, coach, this is just the
third possession of the game for Opala, Like offensively.
Speaker 4 (01:08:47):
Yeah, they've had twenty five snaps and we've had eleven
and we're winning.
Speaker 3 (01:08:54):
Defense has been bib but don't break tonight. Opelika First
and ten from their own thirty yard line. Jalen Nelson
will get the start at tailpack here on this drive
for the Bulldogs. A wide out either side for Opalika,
and there comes a flag and let's see if this
is against Opelika. Bulldogs look like they're moving back, so
(01:09:17):
it's gonna be a false start against Opelaiko. We hadn't
seen this a whole lot from Opalika this season, but
that is tough when you put yourself in a fifteen
to go rather than a ten first and fifteen. Now
a plaka from their own twenty five empty backfield. Now
(01:09:39):
for Wit Cooper. Now bring a man in motion, Jalen
Nelson the tailpack play action, went rolls here near side, pressure,
come broke a tackle, went wants to run for it,
got a scene across the thirty five and went across
the forty and he's got a first down. Went Cooper
up to the forty two yard line for elaborate transferring
stewarts first down. That's a seventeen yard run for the
(01:09:59):
sophomore our quarterback. That's huge, needed that one up to
the forty two first and ten. Bulldogs making mistakes.
Speaker 4 (01:10:10):
Let's go guys, two.
Speaker 3 (01:10:12):
Wide outs to the right, that's the short side of
the field. Heir to our near side and off goes
to Nelson. Nelson ran into a brick wall and you
gonna be hemmed up at the light of scrimmage. Baker
doing a good job crashing down.
Speaker 5 (01:10:26):
C J.
Speaker 3 (01:10:27):
Johnson now will check in the ballgame. No gain on
the play. Second down in ten coming up for Opalaiko.
They I lost to half a yard on that one,
but they'll say second and ten for forty one to
play here in the ballgame, opal like up by one,
seven to six, I should say left in the first
half at least two wide to the right for Opalaika.
(01:10:51):
That's been at young and Jalen Washington Cooper out of
the shotgun gets the stamp hands at the CJ. CJ's
of forty five cross midfield. CJ broke a tackle with
the forty, pouncing off a defender inside of the forty
and he's down to the thirty five yard line. Heck
of a run by c. J. Johnson as that one
(01:11:12):
will be good for twenty four yards and a Lambert
transfer in storage first down excellent. Well that is the
CJS an e racer. He can make a couple blown
blocks into a twenty five yard pickup. We got plenty
of time under four to play in the first half,
down to the thirty five After that big run by CJ,
(01:11:33):
who stays in the ball game at tailback. Two receivers
to the right with Cooper out of the shotgun gets
the stamp hands the ball to CJ and CJ with
a good push down close to the thirty yard line,
CJ's gonna get a five yard pickup. Good run there
by mister Johnson j sho'by second nine and five at
(01:11:55):
the thirty of Baker under three point thirty to play.
Jaylen Washington and Andre van both on the field now.
Laker secondary trying to make sure they've got everybody covered here,
but they're uptight still here on this one. Maybe you
take a shot here, play action with takes a deep shot.
Andre Vanley's getting held that time and no flag. Oh
(01:12:19):
my goodness, this is horrible. His shoulder pads, his jersey's
off his shoulder pad. I have never seen anything this bad.
(01:12:41):
I don't know how you just don't throw the flag
on that. I mean he was being held in playing sight.
And now they finally throwing off sides penalty against Baker.
I mean they've held andre twice on the same play.
It will be first down to shake it off down
to the twenty five. I'm gonna have to do it.
(01:13:02):
You're not gonna get any help from the Zebras tonight down,
first down, a Lambert transfer in Storts, first down down
to the twenty five yard line. But if just run
the ball, if I gonna get the call on the pass,
that's for sure. Cooper out of the shotgun. Ce J
Johnson the tailback went throws here near side. Andre Van
(01:13:24):
caught it the twenty five, broke a tackle inside the
twenty down to the nineteen yard line. Six yard picked
up there for andre Van, and under three minutes to go,
the Bulldogs will have a second down in four inside
the twenty down of the nineteen of Baker. Opell like
a leading by one here seven to six, two forty
eight clock running here in the first half. Jalen Nelson
(01:13:50):
the loan pack and a flag on the play.
Speaker 4 (01:13:55):
What they call.
Speaker 3 (01:14:00):
Canna tell you one thing. The side judge.
Speaker 4 (01:14:03):
Let it up, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
The judge here on the Hopelika side is not a
Brian Moore fan. Right now, I know that two thirty
eight to play, no flag on the play at the
nineteen of Baker Clarke starts back. Now they're two thirty
to go with Cooper out of the shotgun, hands the
(01:14:27):
ball to Nelson and Jalen broke a tackle inside the fifteen.
Hees inside the ten and Jalen falls down to the
nine yard line. That was a ten yard pickup and
elaborate transfer in storage. First down for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 4 (01:14:39):
We need a touchdown. Van will save no field goal
right here, Come on off this line.
Speaker 3 (01:14:44):
Let's go ethan Oiola chicks in the ballgame for the Bulldogs.
That tied end to the left, and now they'll go
I formation, Blake Johnson and Jalen Nelson.
Speaker 4 (01:14:55):
In the I formation.
Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
Coach Moore wanting to kind of slow things down a bit.
Under two minutes to go, Wick Cooper gets the snap,
hands it off to Blake Johnson, and Johnson down to
the five yard line and marked and actually down at
the six yard line for just a pickup of three yards,
so it'll be second and goal from the six four
op like a clock is stopped, right Now, I don't
(01:15:25):
know why the clock was stopped, but it was. Coach
more frustrated on the side about that. Now down to
one forty three, and I think finally the officials noticed
it too. The clock was stopped for about four or
five seconds before they started running it. Matt McCracken, did
you notice that, I believe Coach Moore did. Yeah, the
(01:15:47):
the clock kept running, all right, it stopped. It didn't
keep running, it stopped.
Speaker 4 (01:16:04):
Mac.
Speaker 8 (01:16:04):
What you got for us, hey, conversation with Mary Craig monteil.
Speaker 3 (01:16:11):
Okay, all right, behave down there, Mac. One thirty four
to go here in this first half, clock starts back
running second out in goal at the six of Baker
tail back is Jalen Nelson. Come on, guys, let's go
well there, letting the clock run Coach one twenty down
(01:16:33):
to not take it, I know.
Speaker 4 (01:16:34):
But I'm afraid that official will do something else over
here down to.
Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
Seventeen, Opelika taking their time. Now o Pelika will get
back under center here, second and goal at the six
yard line. Now down to one oh six, one oh five.
Cooper gets the hand off play action. Cooper throws and
that time there's a flag. They were all over andre
then and then all over them all night. Bulldogs finally
(01:16:59):
get the call that time, andre Van. He's just been
awaking his turn.
Speaker 4 (01:17:08):
That time.
Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
Jared Grissom on andre Van will get the We'll get
the hole, not a whole lot there. You get a
half of the distance to the goal. So gonna get
down inside. Am I have around the automatic first down? No, sir, no, no,
not in high school?
Speaker 4 (01:17:24):
Okay, wait about but a minute left.
Speaker 3 (01:17:26):
Now, second and goal from the three Dogs up by
one here, seven to six. A minute to go here
in this first half. We'll play here in the second quarter,
Dogs first and goal, A second and goal at the six.
Blake Johnson, Jalen Nelson, well dot the I Nelson will
(01:17:47):
Blake Johnson the full back. One minute to go, big
series here for the Bulldogs. Handoff goes to the Hammer
hurdles a man and the ball popped out and Baker
says they got it. They're going to call him down.
Though they called him down at the one. Baker thought
(01:18:13):
they came up with the football as Blake Johnson went.
Speaker 4 (01:18:18):
Hurdling.
Speaker 3 (01:18:18):
Their flock will continue under fifty seconds to go and
they'll be third down and one forty five seconds to
go here in the first half, Dogs trail. The Dogs
lead by one here seven to six. Try to add
to it at the one yard line. Down to thirty
five and a time out taken on the field here
(01:18:39):
by Opalaiko. Thirty five seconds left. It'll be third and
goal at the one for the Bulldogs as they try
to stretch their one point lead.
Speaker 4 (01:18:46):
They lead Baker.
Speaker 3 (01:18:47):
Seven to six. And we're back after this time out.
You're listening to Bulldog football. I'm the kicker. Thirty five
seconds left in the first half. Third and goal at
the one for the Bulldogs. Out of the time out.
Speaker 2 (01:19:07):
C J.
Speaker 4 (01:19:07):
Johnson will dot the eye.
Speaker 3 (01:19:09):
Blake Johnson is the full back as the Dogs are
a foot away.
Speaker 4 (01:19:16):
Just about.
Speaker 3 (01:19:19):
And now there's a time out. Here, white hat comes over.
Now we'll get the plate, get the ball spotted ready
for play. Here I formation for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 4 (01:19:29):
Ce J.
Speaker 3 (01:19:29):
Johnson dots the eye the hammer at the fullback position.
They'll give it to Blake. Blake lunches ahead and he's down.
Should be in the end zone. Touchdown Bulldogs hammer time
thirteen to six with twenty nine seconds left, and here
comes Reespeasiley for the extra point and just twenty nine
(01:19:51):
seconds left here in this first half, and coach, I
don't want to look ahead, but twenty nine seconds steals
a lot of time for this Baker offense.
Speaker 4 (01:20:04):
Coyvan, I just think we get the ball in the
second half.
Speaker 3 (01:20:07):
Yeah, gotta keep Baker in check here with that final
twenty nine seconds because you know they're going to try
to air it out downfield and import an extra point
here for mister Beasley. Whit Cooper will hold snap down
and the kick is up and the kick is good.
Bulldogs leading fourteen to six over Baker with twenty nine
seconds to play in the first half. That score and
drive power by opal laa power services hometown people working
(01:20:29):
for you online at opelikapower dot com. Back after this.
This is Opahaka football. I'm the kicker, Blake John said.
With two touchdowns for the Bulldogs tonight, Baker settling for
a couple of field goals. And that's where we stand
(01:20:49):
with twenty nine seconds left here in the first half,
fourteen to six, Opelaika, twenty nine seconds to play here
in this first half, and let's see if mister Beasley
can boot this one into the end here is he
puts total leather, high end over end kick and it
will sail well into the actually out of the one,
but gets into the end zone while he Paul's ten
seconds for station identification.
Speaker 7 (01:21:12):
W KKR Auburn, Opalika is League County's best country ninety
seven point seven kicker FM and iheard country station.
Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
All right, Just twenty nine seconds left for the Baker Hornets.
We'll see if they try to go to the air here, Opeleaika,
we'll get the football to start the second half. I
got a feeling they're going to try to chunk this
thing in the air here. They still have two timeouts
to work with in twenty nine seconds to play, and
they've certainly got the quarterback and they can get the
ball down field to his outstanding receivers. Graham out of
(01:21:43):
the shotgun from his own twenty yard line here with
twenty nine seconds to play in the first half, Graham
play action, drops back, tries to set up a screen
to mister Wheeler. Broke a tackle in the backfield, and
Wheeler down the sidelines and pushed out of bounds add
around the thirty yard line. That'll be enough for a
first down for the Hornets, and that play only took
eight seconds, So now the clock's out with twenty one
(01:22:04):
seconds to play. Baker with two timeouts, so still plenty
of time. Field goal kicker not the longest distance. They'd
have to get it down, probably at least around the
twenty yard line to attempt a field goal here. They're
thinking touchdown though, to White either side. Graham throws one
across the middle. It is complete and knocked out of
(01:22:27):
aunds that around the forty three yard line was Kamarlow
Taylor on the first down. As it's up to the
forty two for a twelve yard pickup and fourteen seconds
left now in this first half, so a couple more
shots here for Baker on ifence. This may be where
(01:22:48):
Baker's offence is the most dangerous in the two minute drill.
Speaker 4 (01:22:51):
All right, we've got to get crusher on and we
got to get.
Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
It to either side. Actually trips to the left side
a little underneath throw. It's complete Wheeler and he gets
out of bounds at the forty five yard line. Eight
seconds left, So maybe two more plays for Baker on
offense here. They still have two timeouts, but they get
it to Jalen speedy Wheeler and he gets it down
(01:23:14):
to the forty five Opoli. Like at other thirteen yard pickup,
you can tell Opelika trying to keep everything in front
of him, trying to get a tackle in bounds.
Speaker 4 (01:23:21):
Here.
Speaker 3 (01:23:23):
I just can't give up the big play here. Baker
already down and striking distance of throwing one at the
end zone. Here too, trips to the right, single receiver
to the left. Here for the Hornets, Graham drops back,
throws near side. It is Colt Wheeler's guid it at
the thirty nine yard line, pushed out of bounds with
just three seconds left, So a chance for a hell
(01:23:44):
Mary here for Baker. They still save both of their timeouts.
But I'm sure Baker will try to heave one to
the end zone here and Follys will get into their
extra PreventT defense here. Bulldogs have them four defenders inside
(01:24:07):
the ten yard line here to defend this what will
be a hellbury here and around the thirty nine of
Opalanka to either side, man in motion from left to right.
Now three receivers to the right. Graham sped up now,
just throws it away and he's going to be tackled
(01:24:27):
down to the forty three yard line. Great pressure by
Terres Thomas as he does not allow take Graham to
get that pass off, and that will be the end
of the first half. Bulldogs fourteen, Baker six at the
end of the second quarter and we'll get Matt McCracken
to catch out with Coach Brian Moore, who I know
was certainly wanted more Mac go ahead.
Speaker 8 (01:24:48):
Thanks a lot coach Warren. A lot of adversity right
there to fight through. Hey, defensively you been You didn't
break You only held them to those two field goals.
Offensively we turned it on. What do we got to
tell the dogs here to come out in the second half, got.
Speaker 5 (01:25:00):
To keep pounding. I mean we didn't snap it enough
in the first half. You know, we had to three
and out. We've had too many penalties, had a couple
of foalster arts and snapping fractions or whatever's going on.
You know, special teams playing really well. You know's not
kicking off as good, but he's putting it really well
and flipping the field. You know, we've giving up some
we've been a little bit soft at corner, you know,
giving up some comeback stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:25:19):
But we're getting after the queue and moving him off
his spot. That's the difference. I guys, let's go talk
to you dogs. Keep this Dog Nation rally. Thanks Matt,
all right, thank you so much, Matt.
Speaker 3 (01:25:27):
That's Mac McCracken there with coach Brian Moore at the
end of the first half. Coach, your thoughts before we
go to break, what'd you think of the first half?
Speaker 4 (01:25:35):
I think that we're a better football team than they are,
and I think we just need to keep doing discipline things,
run the football, make first downs and score about fourteen
to twenty one more points. Fan, And listen, that quarterback
still has not run the ball. He has not run
(01:25:56):
the ball one time that I can remember. We just
need to keep putting pressure on him and hopefully we
could pick a ball off because and their running game
is a little speedy, and that's it. On their running game.
Oh you know, I think it's really up to our
(01:26:17):
defense to shut them down. And listen, we get the
ball the first time we've got to score in the
second half.
Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
I agree, right when we get the ball, all right,
thank you, coach. Fourteen to six again, Opelaca leading Baker
at the half. Jason Lee comes back next with our
halftime report and some scores from around the area. You're
listening to Polanka Bulldog football here on the kicker. Welcome
back inside Bulldog Stadium. Van Riggs back with you. Thanks
(01:26:50):
Jason Lee for a great halftime report. Mac McCracken, we
roam on our sidelines tonight. Hopefully they'll keep the flags
of their pocket on. Mac here in the second in
half as uh, Mac, you're back with us now there, Yeah,
we're here, all right? You bathing yourself down there?
Speaker 1 (01:27:05):
Mac.
Speaker 4 (01:27:06):
Okay, for the record, there was no flag, okay, thank you.
Me and the a D coach Monteil were caring our conversation. Okay,
so and it wasn't fly to another thought.
Speaker 8 (01:27:17):
You were a coach, right, I don't know, but it
was never like we never I never. We never addressed
the guy, whenever looked at the guy.
Speaker 4 (01:27:24):
We were just like, no, no, Lie.
Speaker 8 (01:27:26):
Me and Craig were just talking and he went and
you know, Craig told.
Speaker 4 (01:27:29):
Him who he was and he blew a whistle.
Speaker 3 (01:27:31):
All right, what's gone with the halftime?
Speaker 4 (01:27:33):
Mac?
Speaker 8 (01:27:34):
You know coach coach coach Moore just addressed them before
you know, they went up there and uh and had
their coaches group sessions and just told them you know, seniors,
if you want to keep playing, keep open likea going,
you gotta you know what you got to do offensively.
He said, we can run the football on these guys,
and we you know, we be ready to open it
up a few times here, see if we can keep
them off balance. But he says, guys, we know that
(01:27:56):
we're the better team.
Speaker 4 (01:27:58):
Let's keep going.
Speaker 8 (01:27:58):
Let's play it for these fans that came out here
for you tonight, and let's have some fun.
Speaker 4 (01:28:03):
So he just kept putting on them. Let's have some
fun and let's play some football, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:28:08):
I like it, man McCracken. There for a four seasons,
Federal Credit Union sideline or board. Both teams back out
ready for the second half, Coach everybody. When I was
outside the press, Boggs was asking, how's coach McCracken doing
up there. I bet he's on the edge of his seats. Coach,
you were, you were a little excited there in the
first town horns you.
Speaker 4 (01:28:25):
I got upset at the officiat and you know when
you grab somebody's jersey and you can see it being
pulled on twice and there's no call. But I'm gonna
tell you, just like I've told I told you right
about midway through the second quarter. If we just lay
our ears back and play our game, we'll win the game.
(01:28:48):
This this team is not that we're playing tonight. They're
not a great team. I'd say that they're good, but
you know they got a quarterback that does not run. Man,
do you do just layofful I mean lay on it.
We need to pack it well shot.
Speaker 3 (01:29:10):
Well. The AHSAA ask fans to remember that we play
a role in the education of our students. Parents, fans,
and people of the community all set an example for students,
whether they're aware of it or not. Help set a
positive example in everything you do. Public service message from
the Alabama High School Athletic Association. Well, Baker certainly show
they can move the football down the field in a hurry. Opelaika.
(01:29:34):
We'll get the football to start this second half, and
a chance to make this a two possession game would
be with this high powered Baker offense. Baker has it
teed up Tason Lawrence and he puts total leather gonna
a short kick on option here for CJ. Johnson again
for a return. You will take it across a twenty
twenty five CJ. Hit spins away is at thirty and
(01:29:55):
he's up pushed out of bounds across the thirty five.
Speaker 4 (01:29:58):
Well, it's a good return.
Speaker 3 (01:30:00):
An other great return by CJ close to breaking one.
Just a few tackles away and they'll give CJ the
thirty six yard line. Opelaka a good feel position as
Opelika will start from their own thirty six first and ten.
Opelaika Orthopedic Clinic Broadcast Booth is where we call the
(01:30:20):
action for tonight. The East Alabama's go to center for
orthopedic care two locations eighteen hundred Late Signed Circle in
Auburn and the Medical Arts Center in Opelika. Pauld Ogswell Love,
a couple of blockers, Colt Dixon and the hammer. Now
Jalen runs here near side, wants to throw one down field.
(01:30:41):
He's got Van caught at the thirty two yard line,
makes a man miss inside the twenty five, broken tackle inside.
Speaker 4 (01:30:47):
The ten five, down at the one yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:30:50):
Andre Van down at the two.
Speaker 4 (01:30:53):
They'll call him.
Speaker 3 (01:30:54):
What a heck of a throw by Jalen Weissington a
wide receiver trick play and Andre then as the Bulldogs set.
Speaker 4 (01:31:01):
Up first and goal at the two. I'm gonna have
to get more kiffs. I'm getting my kiss right on
the forehead. When this is all right.
Speaker 3 (01:31:13):
Down at the three, they'll actually call it will be
first in goal at the three. If formation here for
the Bulletdogs Johnson and Johnson. It goes to Blake and
he's down to the two. Picked up one yard and
Blake could not get a serge on that one. It'll
be second in goal from the two here for the Bulletdogs.
(01:31:37):
What a way to open up the second half. So
I'm working that would have practiced this week and last
week really, but brought it out here tonight and open
up the second half.
Speaker 4 (01:31:48):
CJ.
Speaker 3 (01:31:48):
Johnson dots the eye. Blake Johnson will be the full
back here. A shift from Baker as Witt Cooper goes
under center handoff goes to CJ's nice move with the
one he's in and walks it in. Tousdown Bulogs one
away to open up the second half and Opelaika with
a twenty to six lead over the Baker Hornets with
ten fifty to play in the third quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:32:13):
Great blocking up front, Van Oh, that was great. Corbin
Fear's whitlow Mason, Isaiah Howell and Julian Pritchett. Great, great work.
Speaker 3 (01:32:23):
That was all set up by a sixty one yard
completion from Jalen Washington to Andre Van and a three
yard run there by C. J. Johnson. I snap on
the extra point and just got it through there and
the extra point is up and good. Twenty one to
six our score. Opelikah. A heck of a start to
(01:32:46):
the second half. Scoring drive power by Opelaca Power Services
hometown people working for you online at Opelikah power dot com.
We're back after this time out. You're listening Opelikah football
on the kicker, How come back here to the Bulldogs stadium.
(01:33:07):
A heck of a start to the second half of Opolanka.
A sixty one yard throw from Jalen Washington. That's right
the wide receiver to Andre Van, setting up a couple
of run plays and C. J. Johnson takes it in
from two yards out. The kick goes into the end
zone and Baker will start first and ten from their
own twenty yard line. But Baker finds himselves trailing down
(01:33:30):
twenty one to six.
Speaker 4 (01:33:31):
Coach McCracken, Yes, sir, and you're gonna see he gonna
start just like they started the game. They're gonna throw
to those whiteouts. Now we get a don't play them
too soft, or they'll just go right down the field.
And we gotta check number zero speedy Gonzalis, make sure
that he doesn't run down the field. He made about
forty yards on us.
Speaker 3 (01:33:50):
That last drive by Big three and out will be
big here for this defense. Yes, Sir Graham out of
the shotgun with trips to the left side, gets it
throws here near side. It is complete, turning it up
field and hummed up at the twenty five yard line.
Norman Matthews, Good job Jaml Griffin there keeping that one
in front of them, and they'll keep it just a
(01:34:10):
five yard pick up up to the twenty five yard line.
It'll be second down in five coming up for Baker.
Coach McCracken mentioned how the quarterback does not run a lot,
just ten carries on the season. Had a flag on
the play and another sideline warning against Opalaikaen. This one
(01:34:35):
now will be a penalty, so no more warnings for Opelikah.
It's going to be a five yard penalty.
Speaker 4 (01:34:46):
Boy.
Speaker 3 (01:34:46):
We had those remember in the Dothan game about three
years ago, and now that'll be a first down for Baker.
So you don't want to give anybody. You don't want
to give him a freebee. And there's certainly the team
(01:35:12):
not going to give five three yards to first down
after that penalty. They'll throw down field and it is
all off the shoulder pads. A brain and Howard, no
check that. That was actually number twenty two in coverage
for the Bulldogs. That was Aiden McCullough on coverage. I
almost had the interception off his shoulder pads. He was
(01:35:35):
going down feel like a wide receiver to come up
with that one, and he almost picked it off. Aiden McCullough,
sophomore defensive back, almost made a big play there. Second
down in ten head again Baker from their own thirty
yard line, op like a leading twenty one six ten
oh nine to play. Got to get better pass rush
here in the third quarter, Graham drops back rows across
(01:35:57):
the middle, almost intercepted again in and out of the
hands of Jamel Griffin. Boy, that is two near interceptions
the Ooze and Oz from the home field.
Speaker 4 (01:36:08):
All they could see a pick six.
Speaker 3 (01:36:12):
Coach, I was talking to your old buddy Ron Herring
at halftime and he says we got to get one
of those interceptions.
Speaker 4 (01:36:18):
I said, you're right. God absolutely briefed the pressure.
Speaker 3 (01:36:23):
He's going through third and ten for Graham Trip's receivers
to his right. He's pressured, Rolls, throws in. It is incomplete,
out of bounds. He tried to get it to Katari
Marion and it's incomplete. Fourth down. Big time stop for
the Bulldog defense. Great job, guys, and here comes andre
(01:36:44):
Van and the Bulldog crowd on their feet. They appreciate
that defensive effort. Cow bells ringing here at Bulldog Stadium tonight,
and andre Van stands it around his forty yard line
to await to receive this punt from Case and Lawrence
who stands at the fifteen to await the snap. Here
line a scrimmage again, Baker's on thirty yard line. Low snap,
(01:37:09):
and that's the best punt of the night. Andre will
let it bounce and now we'll have to vacate as
a couple of Baker Hornets were quickly down and coverage
on that one. But Opelika will still have the football
first and ten from their own thirty three yard line,
starting field position here for Wit Cooper and the offense,
it was a trick play for the Bulldog's first time
out here in the second half. It was a wide
(01:37:31):
receiver pass from jalb Wishing a sixty one yarder to
Andre Van that set the Bulldogs up at the three
yard line, and Opelika has the fifteen point lead now
twenty one to six over Baker. Nine fifty to play
in the third quarter. See what the Bulldogs do offensively here.
(01:37:52):
Two wides to the left side and Wit Cooper out
of the shotgun gets the snap.
Speaker 4 (01:37:57):
They'll give it to c J. Johnson.
Speaker 3 (01:37:58):
CJ makes a man meu at the thirty five. CJ
upended at the twenty at the thirty eight yard line.
That was a five yard pickup though for CJ. Johnson,
good good job making some men miss there for Baker
and Cj'll check out and Jalen Nelson will check in.
Jordan Waite's unable to go tonight, still nursing that ankle
injury for the Bulldogs. The senior captain for the Bulldogs,
(01:38:22):
Nelson the tail back here on second and five though,
Bulldogs from their own thirty eight yard line. Baker band
across the way making some noise here. Second down play
Bulldogs handed to Nelson. Nelson across the forty five Nelson
at midfield cut down in Baker territory. He gets down
to the forty seven yard line and Lambert transferring storage
(01:38:45):
first down. That was a fifteen yard pickup for Jalen Nelson.
Speaker 4 (01:38:55):
And we're rolling now. Van Riggs Bulldog taking their time
checking the sidelines where Cooper does. Take your time.
Speaker 3 (01:39:05):
Washington and Van to the right side. Only receivers on
the field for the Bulldogs. Cooper gets the snap, they'll
hand it off to Nelson again and he runs right
into the Baker hornet hornet's nest. There is a pile
of them right there on the right side of the line,
but he was still able to pick up some good
yards down to the forty three yard line. Four yard
(01:39:29):
pick up there for Jalen Nelson. Second out in six
coming up here for Opeliker save pooration again. Two wide
receivers to the right side. Nelson stays in a running
back here. On second and six, Cooper gets the hand
off play action. Wit wants to throw deep shot down field.
He's got Washington inside the five. Touchdown bullouns Shaylen Washington
(01:39:51):
to the house forty three yard touchdown. Crock them to sleep,
hit them.
Speaker 4 (01:40:00):
What the dagger coach mccrack is, sir, And that was
great protection ball front. Then they did an excellent job
pretch it how filler fears Wilow and Mason. Great protection.
Speaker 3 (01:40:13):
Bulldogs in business now in the second half with two
scores to open this one up twenty seven to six,
and here's the extra point from Rhys Beasley and Wit
Cooper to hold eight o one to play in the
third quarter. Extra point snap, good kick up and it
is good. Twenty eight to six Bulldogs on top of
(01:40:36):
Baker eight o one to play in the third and
we're back after this time out. You're listening to Bulldog
football here on the kicker, Win Cooper to Jalen Washington
forty three yard touchdown throwing catch and two big ones
(01:40:58):
through the air for the Bulldogs in the second half.
If they lead to twenty eight to six over Baker
eight oh one to play in the third quarter, still
a lot of football to go, but a heck of
a start here in the second half of Opalaika. And
that kick sails into the end zone. No chance for
the speedy Hornets to get a return on that one
and Baker will have it. First and ten from their
own twenty yard line. Coach, your buddy Skip Pole listing
(01:41:22):
to you tonight.
Speaker 4 (01:41:23):
Guess hello, My main man, Skip taught me a lot
about officiating. He talked to me about how to act
as a coach when he threw his flag against me.
Speaker 3 (01:41:34):
He may call a conference call with you after this
one in. Coach Jay Graham, First and ten from his
own twenty yard line. Eight oh one to play here
in the third quarter. Graham will dump it out of
the backfield. Call there's something going for Baker. Nice to
move twenty five across the thirty. There's a first down
and Antonius Peters on the stop and.
Speaker 4 (01:41:54):
We can't we can't that food of the back out
of the back for we got to quit playing so soft.
Speaker 3 (01:41:59):
Now, first down up to the thirty three yard line
there for Baker, thirteen yard pickup. First and ten from
their own thirty three. Graham drops back, throws in, it
is hauled in and caught and he turns it up field.
Almost near midfield was number two Joshua Jones. He gets
it up to the forty nine yard line and another
(01:42:21):
first down, quick pick up for Baker and they're moving now.
It would be a great time for one of those
interceptions we've almost gotten tonight.
Speaker 4 (01:42:30):
Yeah, are we rushing four up there?
Speaker 5 (01:42:31):
Now?
Speaker 4 (01:42:31):
Are we bringing five? This time?
Speaker 3 (01:42:34):
First and ten Baker from their own forty nine. They'll
throw here near side. Taylor's got it and brought down
at the forty four yard line, but picks up seven
yards and it will be second down and three. Jaml
Griffin on the stop of Baker going fast. Here's seven
oh seven to play. They can score quickly. They have
yet to find the end zone tonight. Had to settle
(01:42:55):
for a couple of field goals on some great drives.
They got five White here, three to the two to
the left side, checking down in three, they'll throw far
side of the field. Marion's got it. He's dangerous. Broke
a tackle. He's inside the twenty and still on his
feet inside the ten and pushed out of bounds inside
the five. Are right at the five. They'll call him
down to the first in gold Baker and Katy Marion.
(01:43:19):
He is not done a lot tonight, but boy, he
can show his explosive playmaking ability and he almost gets
it in the end zone. Here was six forty four
to play. In the third, we relaxed out there.
Speaker 4 (01:43:31):
We're playing too soft on these guys. They hadn't beat
us deep one time. Man, But Mary throwing these dank
swing passes out here.
Speaker 3 (01:43:40):
Well, Marion is a heck of an athlete. And now
they're gonna go wildcat. No check that and the quarterback
stays in the game. Graham out of the shot going
gets it to wheel lerd he's cutting down of the
back field. Nice stop there by. Xavier or Thomas comes
in there on the blitz and they'll bring him down
for a two yard laws. It looks like back to
(01:44:01):
around the six seven yard line. Looks like the seven
yard line. He took the shot, then he did. Xavier
flew in there.
Speaker 4 (01:44:10):
Now they gonna they gonna throw something to swing out here.
Speaker 3 (01:44:13):
Now six twenty to play in the third, Gram changing
his play. He's got a receiver wide left side and
a receiver short to the right. Graham again hand off
to the tailback Wheeler and again he's brought down, and
that time Jamil Griffin comes in and brings him down
(01:44:33):
for no gain. It'll be third down coming up here
for the Hornets, third and goal from the seven. Good
job date, Good job fifty two. Opelik has been in
this situation before and forced Baker into a couple of
field goals. I don't think Baker's thinking field goal here
down twenty eight to six, four down territory, for sure.
(01:44:55):
Coaching staff wants the crowd on their feet. Third and
goal from the seven. They'll bring a man in motion,
trips are to the right side. Graham hit and the
ball came out. They'll say incomplete, almost a fumble, but
it was an incomplete past. Tray Stone applies the pressure
to mister Graham and it's fourth down and goal from
the seven. Bulldog crowd on their feet. Five twenty nine
(01:45:19):
to play, and this may be one of those plays
of the game. And I'm surprised they're bringing on the
field goal team here, really surprising, but mister Scott's coaching.
So it'll be a short field goal attempt. I got
a feeling Opalika will be in a safe situation here.
Speaker 4 (01:45:44):
They're gonna try to block it.
Speaker 3 (01:45:47):
Twenty four yard attempt and it is up and it
is good, So Baker settles for three again. It'll be
a twenty eight to nine ball game. With five twenty
five to play here in the third quarter and we'll
take a time out. You listen, No, like a bulldog
football here on the commute. Well, rather than a fourth
(01:46:14):
down attempt, Baker goes for the field goal. They do
get three out of it, but they're trailed by nineteen
here with five twenty five to play, twenty eight to nine.
Our score. Isaac Clark right tackle for the Hornets. Injured
player and slow to come off the field. Certainly, hope
he's okay. Let's go down the field for a four
seasons Federal Credit Union sidelined report.
Speaker 4 (01:46:34):
Mac, what you got for us? Mack? You there? You
got me? I got you? Oh, go ahead.
Speaker 8 (01:46:44):
Hey, there's another example of our bend, but don't break.
Great defensive stop right there holding a three and us
keep that offense going and know we can run the
football at them with a little mixed up, keep them,
keep them on their toes, and you know, like they're
great play action right there with win as they're all
selling out offense. Great play calling right now by Jay Atkins.
Let's just keep it going and pop, get pop, get
(01:47:06):
one of those us and stayed drives here.
Speaker 3 (01:47:08):
Yeah, absolutely, yeah, you got it back mccrack in. Four
seasons Federal Credit Union sideline report. Here is the kick
from Case and Lawrence and again they'll give CJ a
chance here inside the ten brings it across the fifteen
to twenty twenty five thirty. CJ just cut down again
at the thirty five yard line. He is a mistackle
away from taking one. And there's a flag out of
(01:47:29):
the twenty yard line, and this will probably negate a
good return here by c J. Johnson here with five
nineteen to play.
Speaker 2 (01:47:35):
In the third.
Speaker 3 (01:47:37):
Where's yeah, we'll wait for the white hat says a
block in the back against Opelaika. So if that happened
at the twenty, that's going to back the Bulldogs pretty
far back deep. Ope, Like I said, great field position tonight,
this would be looks like Opelka starting field position inside
(01:47:58):
the all right at the ten yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:48:00):
So he caught that ball at the ten and they
threw that flag at the twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:48:07):
Yeah, he caught it.
Speaker 4 (01:48:08):
A block in the back, Yeah, that's what they Well,
they must add superman go down there and get him
from the back. Geez.
Speaker 3 (01:48:16):
So Pelika will start first and ten from their own
ten yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:48:20):
Hope.
Speaker 3 (01:48:20):
Pelika leading nineteen twenty eight to nine with five nineteen
to play in the third Cooper gets the stamp, hands
the ball off. There's a big hole by Jalen. He
spins his way across the fifteen and up to the
seventeen yard line. Seven yard pickup by Jalen Nelson. And
right now, coach McCracken, if you can roll and run
the football and run this clock, that's what you say.
Speaker 4 (01:48:43):
Tim, and get first downs. We need to score this
time too. Van they put points up. We have to
put points up absolutely. Eli Broaden checks in as a
blocker for the Bulldogs. Second down in three four opalaika,
it's the snap man is Blake Johnson. Blake across the
(01:49:05):
twenty five first down, run up to the twenty seven
yard line and as a ten yard pickup and elaborate
transfer and storage first down four.
Speaker 3 (01:49:15):
To thirty five o'clock. Running here in the third quarter,
Jalen Nelson checks in the ball game. The hammer will
come out, he says, I need a breather here, and
Eli Briden will stay in at fullback. Lake Johnson's been
a tough guy this season for the Bulldogs. Injured earlier
in the season in that first game against Benjamin Russell.
(01:49:38):
But it's fought through it. First and ten for the
Bulldogs when they're on twenty seven that time, Jalen Nelson
is hitting in the backfield, stopped at the twenty five
yard line. Lost two on the play. It'll bring up
second down in twelve.
Speaker 4 (01:49:50):
Go Lacy, we don't need that. C J.
Speaker 3 (01:49:54):
Johnson will check back in the ball game.
Speaker 4 (01:49:56):
Somebody came inside of our tackle on that inside zone
right there.
Speaker 3 (01:50:03):
Blay Johnson quickly back in the ballgame. Twenty eight to nine,
open like a leading thinker. We're under three forty to
play in the third quarter. Still a lot of football
left in this one.
Speaker 4 (01:50:16):
Cee J.
Speaker 3 (01:50:16):
Johnson to the left of Cooper. It'll be second down
and twelve with three thirty one to play. And here's
a reverse play. Washington's got something. Washington cross a thirty
thirty five and Washington gonna be really close to the
first down. He has got the first down according to
that spot. As he carries it up to the thirty
seven yard line, a lambort transfer in storage first down.
(01:50:40):
Great play call there by coach Jackins, and that bi
sets the Bulldogs up to the thirty eight yard line.
It will be first and ten, three oh four to
play here in the ballgame in the third quarter, I
should say I'm wanting it to be over with.
Speaker 4 (01:50:58):
Good blocking up front.
Speaker 3 (01:50:59):
Twenty eight nine Opelika with the lead Opelikah football first
and ten Dogs when they're on thirty eight yard line,
slow hand off to Johnson, broke a tackle forty five
cross midfield, stiff armed to guys just about stay on
his feet. See J. Johnson carries it all the way
down to the thirty six yard line. Jeremy Dillard plowing
the way for CJ. For that twenty seven yard first
(01:51:21):
down run as a Lambert transfer in storage, first down
to the Baker thirty.
Speaker 4 (01:51:25):
Six, Take you ton, take you tome. Run the clock.
Speaker 3 (01:51:31):
Two thirty to play. Here in the third Bulldog's leading
by nineteen and driving here on Baker with Cooper checks
the sidelines, Andre to the right, Jalen Wide to the left,
and the loan back.
Speaker 4 (01:51:46):
Come on, come on, c J.
Speaker 3 (01:51:48):
Johnson. Play clock down to three, down to two. Cooper
just gets the snapsaw snap off and hands into CJ.
Speaker 4 (01:51:55):
Johnson. CJ bottled up for no game, may have lost to.
Speaker 3 (01:51:58):
Half a yard. Now we're under two minutes to go
here in the third clock not in the favor. Here
are the Hornets.
Speaker 6 (01:52:10):
CE J.
Speaker 3 (01:52:10):
Johnson will check out of the ball game as Jalen
Nelson checks back in ten one forty four to play
second down and ten two wide receivers right, that's Washington
and Van play clock down to ten, down to nine.
(01:52:31):
Cooper changing his play with Jalen Nelson to his left
on second down, Here goes the hand off to Nelson.
Nelson spinning his way down to the thirty five and
it will be third down coming up here for the Bulldogs.
And well, you loved it, at least come away with
(01:52:52):
three here and get those three points back.
Speaker 4 (01:52:55):
Yeah, we need to We need to get enough. First
down here now.
Speaker 3 (01:53:00):
Third and ten for Opelaika at the right at the
thirty six yard line of Baker.
Speaker 4 (01:53:10):
CJ.
Speaker 3 (01:53:10):
Johnson is the tailback for the Bulldogs to the left
and two wide receivers wide to the left side of
the field. Cooper play action drops back throws he's got
bitted caught inside the twenty fifteen, spends his way down
to the eleven yard line, a big time first down catch.
Benning Young in the ball game with a huge reception
and a lamborate transferring storms first down good for twenty
(01:53:33):
five yards and a Bulldog first down.
Speaker 4 (01:53:37):
Big play right there, Vam.
Speaker 3 (01:53:39):
Great play call, great design there and again with Cooper
putting that ball on the money. And now Opelaika will
have to run one more play here to wind things
down and get the light show going. Headed into the
fourth quarter, fifteen down to fourteen. C J Johnson is
the loan back Wit Cooper, play action pros towards the
(01:54:00):
end zone for Andre Van and just about came up
with it incomplete and the right side of that end zone,
and six seconds left what I just about came down
with and Andre almost made a great, great catch six
seconds left here in the third quarter, second down and
(01:54:23):
ten again, the football down at the twelve yard line
officially of Baker. Now Ethan Oiola will check in the
ball game number eighty eight for the Bulldogs. Dogs leading
twenty eight to nine. Trying to add to a Dog's
quickly go under center, and here's a toss play to CJ.
Speaker 4 (01:54:42):
Trying to run right side.
Speaker 3 (01:54:43):
CJ tiptoes his way down the sidelines but knocked out
of Auns at around the ten and it'll be third
down coming up for the Bulldogs when we start quarter
number four, but the Dogs will take a nineteen point
lead into this fourth quarter at Bulldog Stadium, twenty eight
to nine, and we're back with more after this. You're
listening to bullet football here on the kicker Swags surfing
(01:55:17):
on the fence Parkway, Colt Miller on the jumbo tron,
just like things should be here as we head into
the fourth and the Bulldog crowd on their feet as
the Bulldogs will have a big third down and nine
coming up at the Baker eleven yard line, and Opelika
will start this fourth quarter leading nineteen and a chance
to add to it here. You'd love to get a touchdown,
(01:55:37):
but you certainly will in field goal range of Riese
Beasley if you can't pick up this third down, Coach McCracken.
Speaker 4 (01:55:43):
Yes, sirs. Twenty one to nine, right, that's right, all right? No,
twenty eight to nine, twenty eight to nine. Yeah, they
got the score wrong up there.
Speaker 3 (01:55:55):
Two wide receivers to the left side. Here is that
third down play play action and Wit throws one back
to Ciej Coutt.
Speaker 4 (01:56:02):
Touchdown, Bulldogs. What a heck of a throw.
Speaker 3 (01:56:05):
Wit Cooper stayed in there and took a shot from
number two. That was Alex Hawthorne, the linebacker who hit Cooper,
but he's staying in there for the throwback to CJ.
Touchdown Bulldogs thirty four to nine. And here's the point
after a tenth we see that replay. What a great
play design and CJ all alone in the right corner
(01:56:27):
of the end zone, touchdown Bulldogs.
Speaker 4 (01:56:30):
That was a beautiful play.
Speaker 3 (01:56:32):
Here is Rehys Beasley for the point after with eleven
fifty forward just underway here in the fourth quarter, and
Wit Cooper will hold the snap good and the kick
is up and the kick is good. Hacking to start
to the fourth quarter. Thirty five to nine, Bulldogs all
(01:56:53):
over Baker with eleven fifty four to go in this one.
You're listening to Opal like a Bulldog football here on
the kicker back here at Bulldogs Stadium, Opeal Income what
a second half came out scoring it has not stopped.
(01:57:14):
Thirty five to nine. Ople like a leading Baker here
with eleven fifty four to go in this game. And
Baker's sideline very silent, and that kit goes into the
end zone for a touchback. Mac mccracking down on the
field with the four seasons Federal Credit Union signline report.
Speaker 8 (01:57:32):
Mac, Hey, these dogs down down here jumping around, Baby,
they're loving it. They're controlling the ball, doing they got
to do defenses, playing lights out.
Speaker 4 (01:57:41):
And I'll tell you what you know, me and Ben
Prescott were down here.
Speaker 8 (01:57:44):
JD's calling a great game right now as far as
mixing his running and his passing and just getting a
good feel for Wick couvery Wit looks really right with
what great He looks really relaxed back there and making
good throws and he's got a big smile on his face.
Speaker 4 (01:57:58):
And boy, this outline right here is having a good time. Mac.
Speaker 3 (01:58:01):
We just said one of the best call games we've
seen Coach Atkins having a long time. He's really mixed
it up and done well. Here's Baker first and ten
from there on twenty yard line and tail back Wheeler
trying to get something going. There is a flag down
late and that could be a face mask. It is
against Opalaiko as the Dogs are trying to get down
(01:58:23):
a speedy Wheeler. Good sportsmanship too from Baker there on
the offensive lineman there helping out one of the Bulldog
players on the field. Easton mccurtchey in the ball game
there for Baker. That a fifteen yard pedal, Yeah, face
(01:58:48):
mask fifteen yard or good? It must have been. It
must have been pretty obvious. They threw it late there, Baker.
From there on forty yard line now first and ten,
Graham pressure con Tray Stone on the pressure. He tripped
up the quarterback. He goes to the ground as he
throws that one away, mister Stone putting the pressure on
Tate Graham and it's second down in ten.
Speaker 4 (01:59:09):
That's what I like to see right there, Van or
Tray He lit him up. I mean, he timed that
just perfectly.
Speaker 3 (01:59:19):
Yeah, Trey Stone has really come on this year for
the Bulldogs, coming back to his home school this year.
Eleven thirty three left here in this ballgame. Graham out
of the shotgun, gets the stamp, throws here near Shige
to the back out of the flats and stiff armed
(01:59:40):
at the fender and pushed out of bounds at the
fifty yard line, sliding down. And that was number one
Carmelo Taylor and that gonna be a two yard shy
of the first down. Xavier Thomas chases him out of bounds.
That picks up eight yards though third and two Baker
will have it from their own forty eight yard line,
third down in two though, Bulldog's trying to get the
(02:00:03):
crowd on their feet. Money Thomas says, come on, preaks
to the money. Graham throws out of the flats and
I broke tackle and the flag does come down as
Katry Mary and it's tough to bring down, still on
his feet and stiff Warm's a bulldog. He's going to
be brought down. Finally at the thirty three yard line.
(02:00:24):
That's a South Alabama commit, really talented player. But the
flag is down back at the forty four yard line.
Should be coming back. We'll wait and see. There's a
hold against the Baker coach McCracken saw it, yes, sir,
But there's a flag at the ten yard line. Also
(02:00:49):
the ten yard line. Yeah, there's a flag down to
the ten. And we'll wait and see what this one is.
Speaker 4 (02:00:58):
Oh, I see it.
Speaker 3 (02:01:03):
So let's see what the white hat says here after
the play. A personal foul against Baker.
Speaker 4 (02:01:11):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (02:01:12):
A face mask? Okay, after the play, so that was
somebody got Xavier Thomas's face mask. So that's gonna be
a fifteen yard penalty tacked onto the hold. So they're
gonna mark this from the from the thirty three.
Speaker 4 (02:01:31):
Yeah, how about that, man, that'll be a fifteen yarder,
a twenty five yard penalty. I like that.
Speaker 3 (02:01:46):
So they've got in march right now at the twenty
three yard line. With these officials, we give them a
lot a lot of business sometimes where they got to
be able to add in some track to with all
these penalties'll be a third and twenty seven for Baker
from their own twenty three yard line. Here's Graham three
(02:02:09):
wide to the left, single receiver to the riot. Graham
out of the shot gun, Bulldogs bring pressure. Graham hands
sacked out at the twenty yard line. Tramaine Thomas baby
TJ with his sixth sack of the season out of
(02:02:29):
boy TJ Thomas, and it will be fourth and thirty
and here comes the punting team for Baker ten thirty
six and the Bulldogs can smell on the semifinals.
Speaker 4 (02:02:48):
Case.
Speaker 3 (02:02:48):
And Lawrence back to punt this one the way. He
stands in around the five yard line and Andre Van
stands at the fifty yard line. Snap punt from around
the six yard line, end over end punt and Andre
will watch it roll get all away, and he gets
(02:03:09):
down at the thirty nine yard line. That's where the
Bulldogs will take over. Ten oh four left here in
this ballgame, and the Dogs right a ground out the
remainder of this fourth quarter, leading right now thirty five
to nine, with ten oh four to play, Central leading
(02:03:32):
fair Hope twenty seven to fifteen. Auburn had no trouble
earlier with Daphne. That score was really one sided, thirty
seven and nothing a shutout down in Daphne. There's a
handoff on first down the Jalen Nelson and a good
push across the forty Nelson's still pushing the file off
(02:03:54):
to the forty three yard line, had nothing there, but
still picked up four yards. It'll be second down and
up to the forty three yard line, and of course
Oklaika hangs on to win this one. Auburn looks like
they're well on their way to victory. You know what
that sets up next week, the rivalry showdown that has
(02:04:20):
not happened in the playoffs since back in twenty twelve.
That was a third round matchup. This will be a
semifinal matchup. Jalen Nelson, the tail back to the left
of Cooper here on second down and six. Two white
outs to the left side of the field and off
again goes to Nelson. Nelson cut down at the forty
four yard line and it will be third down and six,
(02:04:50):
nine to one to go here in this ballgame, Jacoby
Jackson checks of the ball game. Hi, Jacari Walton, brother,
just take your time, take your time. Two wide left,
(02:05:10):
single receiver to the right side here for Wit Cooper
out of the shine gun. Third and five, and they'll
bring a man in motion and they'll fake it. Wit
drops back, wants to pass, and Wit sacked. First time tonight.
Wit has been sacked, and that was Carmelo Taylor flying
in there on the quarterback went Cooper, and they'll be
(02:05:31):
fourth down and eleven. That sack back to the thirty
eight yard line, six yard loss on the play. Fourth
down and eleven and the hunting team coming on for
the Bulldogs. Call I continues to run though eight oh
three left in the game and good snap. Reese puts
(02:05:53):
a boot into this one, hits down at the thirty one,
takes an opal like a roll and down to the
sixteen right at the seventeen yard line, and that's where
Baker will take over. First and ten with seven forty
nine to play. We're back after this. On the kicker
(02:06:13):
first down, passed a speedy wheeler out of the back field.
He catches it and gets up to the twenty three
yard line. He'll pick up four yards. Norman Matthews on
the stop. That'll be second down and seven. All right,
at second down, second down and or like second and five,
they'll throw here near side. It is complete and stopped
(02:06:35):
just shy of the thirty yard line. Should be enough
for the first down and will be a first down
catch for my Carmelo Taylor. Jay Battle on the stop
for the first down. That'll move the chain. Seven oh
nine clock continues to run Baker trailing thirty five to
nine to Opelaika. Baker has been held out of the
(02:06:55):
end zone tonight. Three field goals for the Hornets.
Speaker 4 (02:07:01):
Defense.
Speaker 3 (02:07:02):
Done a great job for Opalaika tonight to limit this
explosive offense. Pump fake Graham throws downfield tipped in the year,
almost intercepted, almost in and out of the hands to
Bill Griffin. Almost came down with that when Bulldogs have
had about five passes defensively in their hands and have
(02:07:24):
not been able to come down within him. Maybe they'll
save him for next week. Six thirty nine to go
in the game, second down in ten four Baker here
from there on thirty yard line, six thirty nine to play.
Clock stopped though after that incomplete pass. Going to get
(02:07:46):
one of these before the night's over. Coach, I just
got to say, well, we keep bringing. We're bringing good pressure.
Cameron Moody tight end, moves from right to left and
they'll give it to Wheeler and he's got a lane
across the five. Stayed on his feet somehow got across
the forty and up to the forty three yard line.
(02:08:07):
Good run there by Wheeler and Xavior Thomas on the stop.
So Baker gets up to the forty three yard line,
six twenty three left in the game, first and ten hornets.
They'll throw here in near side of this complete Taylor's
got it across midfield and nice tackle by Ja and
(02:08:28):
Jamel Griffin may have been a touchdown saving tackle there
on Carmelo Taylor.
Speaker 4 (02:08:34):
We're playing too soft on these guys. Man. We need
to get up. We need to get up in the
face a little bit more.
Speaker 3 (02:08:39):
Well, I think as long as you can tackle them
in bounds, Coach I think coach Moore's happy to play
a little cushion here. May run some clock here five
point fifty five, and that clock continues to run here
in the fourth quarter. Two wide right, single receiver to
the left. Just don't want anything getting over your head.
Here's Wheeler on a run and he's gonna be brought down.
Nice tackle there by the Bulldogs. And that was number
(02:09:01):
ninety seven Mallick Kai Grint on the stop for the Bulldogs.
So good job, Malick Kai Grant.
Speaker 4 (02:09:08):
Guy.
Speaker 3 (02:09:09):
We hadn't called his name a lot, but at junior
defension lineman and twenty four pounder getting some action in
making the most of it. Third down and one coming
up for Baker. You know this is four down territory
here of five twenty one left in the game. Trip's
right side of the left side of the field. And
now again Moody, the tight end moves from right to left. Also,
(02:09:32):
they'll give it to Wheeler and he's tripped up and
he's going to be right at the first down marker.
I then they marked him short. Sure it's fourth down.
Elijah Odin on the stop there for the Bulldogs. Fourth
down and one for Baker, and they'll keep the offense
out with four fifty two to play at the Opalaika,
(02:09:53):
just inside the Opalaika forty eight yard line, fourth and
short here for Baker trips to the left side of
the field, single receiver to the right option play. They'll
pitch it now to Wheeler, who gets the first down,
but he's tackled nicely by Jamel Griffin to keep it
(02:10:15):
a short pickup that'll move the chains, though clock will
stop as they move the change for twenty seven to
play down to the forty three yard line of Opelaiko.
Coach Brian Moore and ople like gotta be really content
to let them keep running in the middle of the
field here and keep this clock running. Four twelve to go.
(02:10:36):
Clock starts back. Two receivers to the right, two receivers
to the left. Graham drops back, had time throws across
the middle incomplete and tried to get it to Carmelo Taylor.
But I think right now, take Graham's internal clock is
ticking a little fast here with the pressure defense from
Coach Mass he's been able to put on him tonight.
He's hit the ground several times tonight, and getting that
(02:10:58):
football early out of his hands has been a big
difference maker. Thirty five nine ople like a leading Baker
four oh five to play here.
Speaker 4 (02:11:07):
At the ballgame.
Speaker 3 (02:11:11):
Aubert in control down in Daphne at Opal like in
control here in Opelika against Baker, trips receivers to the
left side. Now pump fake for Graham. He's pressured and
he's gonna be sacked. Carson Riddle's got a hold of
him and he'll go down to the ground. Carson Riddle
(02:11:34):
was there and also getting some assistance from Brayling Cole
number ninety six who was in the game there and
Jay Holloway too, three forty six to go third and
long our flag on the play, and this is going
(02:11:57):
to go against Baker. It's going to be an unsportsman
life is that on their center. So he's going out
of the game.
Speaker 4 (02:12:10):
They threw him out.
Speaker 3 (02:12:13):
I think the coach has pulled him out after that
penalty will back things inside the thirty five down to
the thirty four. Now Isaac Rodgers out of the game.
Now they have to bring a new center in and
number seventy will shift over and play center now easton
(02:12:35):
mccirchee third out and thirty three here for Baker with
three thirty nine left in this game, Ram drops back
steps up got all day. Bulldogs wanted to hold its
complete to Katory Marion up at the forty six yard
line and it'll be a twenty two yard pickup Caden
(02:13:02):
Harris on the hit, but there was a hole, so
they did drop the flag and that will negate the completion.
It'll be fourth down and they'll bring the punting team
in here with just three twenty seven to go, so
(02:13:24):
Baker content to punt here down big to Opelika. Here
was just three twenty seven left in the game, and
Lawrence rolls to his right boots this one away Opelika,
putting nobody back deep and it'll be down by the
Hornets Jared Grissom and the thirty three yard line. Opalaika,
(02:13:48):
three minutes and seventeen seconds away from a semi final
showdown at Duck Sepford Stadium next week against the Auburn
Hyde Tigers. Couldn't script it any better than that, coach,
I know.
Speaker 4 (02:13:58):
In week.
Speaker 3 (02:14:00):
Three it was we said, we sure love to see
these guys again. We're gonna get an opportunity to play.
Speaker 4 (02:14:06):
We are, we are.
Speaker 3 (02:14:11):
Great game tonight by Opelikah. Opelikah did a great job
preparing tonight and Hopelikah got to bring in Fuller Young
two to run quarterback here get an opportunity to get
some playoff snaps. With three seventeen to go, Jalen Nelson
will be the tail back to the left. Two wide
receivers to the left side here on first and ten
Bulldogs and Alton Nelson and Jalen Nelson wrapped up no
(02:14:37):
gain on the play and it will be second down
in ten Dogs and they're on thirty three. The Dog's
gonna get some fresh bodies on the offensive line in
Tremil Sparks sophomore offensive lineman checks of the ball game,
(02:14:57):
Cam Rayley, who does such a good job snap. He's
had some great catches to this season, filling in when needed.
A wide receiver. He's in the game lined up wide
to the right side here on the left side as C. J.
Harris as senior wide receiver. Fuller Young out of the shotgun,
gets the stamp and wrapped up again right there at
(02:15:21):
the line of scrimmage and Baker are going to call
a time out here with two twenty five to play,
thirty five nine our score and a third and nine
for the Bulldogs when we come back here, let's know,
but like a Bulldog football here on the kicker Dogs
(02:15:43):
third down, run left side, gonna be short of the
first down, picked up a couple of yards there and
on the carry for the Bulldogs that was number forty
three Noah Reese senior running back down to eight and
the Bulldogs will punt it back to Baker.
Speaker 4 (02:16:05):
Well.
Speaker 3 (02:16:05):

Message with the Alabama High School Athletic Association and a
time out on the field by Baker Here we're two
fourteen to play, oh, but likely leading thirty five nine.
(02:16:27):
We're back after this here on the kicker Bulldogs in
punting formation here, fourth down and eight, and Reees Peasley
gets it, rolls to his right and puts a high
knuckleball punt up in the air, hits down at the
thirty and takes an open like a roll inside the twenty,
(02:16:49):
and we'll roll down inside the nineteen yard line. So
good punt there by Reese Beasley. Just one fifty eight
left in this game, op like a thirty five to
nine lead over the Bake Hornets, and a minute fifty
eight seconds left until we can celebrate here inside Bulldog
Stadium and get ready for that big semi final showdown
next week, Coach McCraken against those Auburn heidh Tigers, which
(02:17:12):
we love to play. They have had a great run
against Opalik and I can think of no better time
to snap it the next week, Yes, sir, a bunch
of ticket to a state championship game. How about that, coach?
Speaker 4 (02:17:24):
Absolutely one went away after this one. No, that's I
was just thinking about it.
Speaker 3 (02:17:30):
Graham drops back, pressured. It's going to be sacked again.
That is Kate two Caaten Harris who brings down Tate
Graham back at the eight yard line. I tell you
one thing, Baker fans that are listening. This quarterback is
a junior back next year, and uh he is one
heck of a quarterback. He's gonna be gonna be just
finding this Baker offense. I know Opalaika defensively tonight held
(02:17:54):
him in check, but yeah, they need a lot of
talent for them coming back next year.
Speaker 4 (02:17:58):
They need to give him some kind of a situation,
you know, because he just he go pass all the
time or hand off.
Speaker 3 (02:18:05):
Yeah. Here is running back Gavin Wood who comes to
the ball game and he gets a good chunk of
that negative yardage back as he carries it up to
the twenty one yard line, it'll bring up a third
down and nine. Well, we thought this will be a
line of scrimmage game, and how would Opelika's offensive line
and defensive line be against Baker And I think Opelikah
(02:18:26):
tonight the reason the Dogs won this game is they
won the line of scrimmage tonight.
Speaker 4 (02:18:30):
Coach absolutely absolutely. I couldn't have said that any better.
Speaker 3 (02:18:34):
And the pressure that Opelikah was able to get on
Tate Graham that really made him move around tonight and
just have some off throws and never really could get
in rhythm consistently. And another good tackle for loss there
by the Bulldogs. And these are some of the young
bucks in here for the Bulldogs. That's Maleykait Grin again,
a junior defensive lineman who brings down the tailback Gavin
(02:18:57):
Wood and for no gain. It'll be fourth down and ten,
and now the punting team comes on here under a
minute to go and Bulldogs can get the party started here.
And I tell you Opal, like a fans on a
chilly night tonight, have hung in here in the bleacher.
Some of them are starting to scoot around and head
towards the exits, but hopefully they'll stay in their seats
here when this clock strikes zero and celebrate here this
(02:19:19):
final home game of the season, here inside a Bulldog stadium.
Speaker 4 (02:19:24):
Case.
Speaker 3 (02:19:25):
And Lawrence at his four yard line to get the
snap and puts a high boot. That's the best pun
of the night, really good one. They the thirty five.
It takes a roll all the way to open like
a nobody back d but it will be down at
the eighteen yard line this fifteen fourteen seconds left. Opalaikah
will come out and take a knee Fuller Young will
(02:19:47):
come out and the Bulldogs will hit the victory formation
here on a well, hard fought game that nobody around
the state gave them a chance in this one, and
they proved everybody wrong. Thirty five to nine are gonna
win this one here against the Baker Hornets. And as
they say, coach how does that crow taste tonight for
(02:20:08):
those sports riders around the state.
Speaker 4 (02:20:13):
Yeah, I'd like to. I'd like to have a little
conversation with them. They call me. How'd y'all play so good?
M mm hmmm.
Speaker 3 (02:20:24):
Fuller Young gets the snap, hits the knee and the
Bulldogs are headed to the semi finals next week at
Duck Sanford Stadium to take on the Auburn High Tigers.
And the party is on here at Bulldogs Stadium. One
went away from Birmingham hardy five to nine Dogs on
(02:20:50):
winter tonight over the Baker Hornets.
Speaker 4 (02:20:54):
That is awesome, Van.
Speaker 3 (02:20:56):
They're not gonna keep them off the field tonight, Coach,
here they come, the students take the field, and we'll
let you listen to a little celebration before we take
a break. The kiddos on the field running around at
(02:21:20):
a thirty five to nine win for Oaklaika and they'll
head to Duck Sanford Stadium next week for one that folks,
I'll tell you this, go ahead and make your plans
to get your tickets early. That one, you bet, will
sell out quickly. You thought the regular season game sold out,
This one, my friends, will sell out in minutes. And
(02:21:42):
the Bulldog. The players come over and they give a
well deserved high five to the students section to our
right led by Colton Miller and Company, and Warner McDonald
will give him some credit to all the other sports players.
Speaker 4 (02:22:04):
I tell you something, fam what again, I was just
I was thinking back three weeks ago when we had
our two little uh trips to Enterprise and to Central.
You know, yeah, those coaches and players, they could have
(02:22:27):
just laid.
Speaker 3 (02:22:27):
Down, Josie, what'd you think of that game?
Speaker 4 (02:22:32):
All right? It was good.
Speaker 3 (02:22:33):
We get Josie seal of approval. We'll be back after
this time out of the postgame shows on your way
next thirty five to nine Opelca winner over Baker. Stay
tuned more coming up from Bulldog Stadium on the way
after this. Back here inside Bulldog Stadium. Opelaka winner tonight,
(02:22:57):
thirty five to nine the final score as Opelika improves
to nine and three on the season and now heads
to the semifinals for the first time in seven A
and the Dogs will meet up next week with the
Auburn High Tigers at Duck Sanford Stadium. And that do
you need to even say anything about that matchup next week?
(02:23:19):
Coach McCracken. You'll be there about two o'clock, won't you.
Speaker 4 (02:23:22):
I'll be there, Bud, I'll be there, ready to go.
I can't. Oh, I'm looking forward to this.
Speaker 3 (02:23:29):
I had a lot of respect for coach Keith Ether.
It's one of my friends, and he has done a
great job with that team. Since they played Opalaika coach
earlier in the season, that team has done nothing but
get better each week. This Opalaka football team, it's kind
of been a roller coaster since that game for us.
You know, we kind of had a little bit of
a lull there in the middle, quarterback changing stuff going
(02:23:52):
on there, and then all of a sudden Opelikah hits
that two game skid on the schedule, goes to Enterprise
falls and then falls to Central Phoenix City and kind
of don't really know where things are going to go.
That win over Dothing was huge, but then you had
those two losses, so you kind of a kind of
are down on yourselves.
Speaker 4 (02:24:07):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (02:24:08):
The way open like end of the regular season against
that Carver team sparked this team into an awful week,
came out with that big winning It's you at trustful
and a dominating win tonight over the number one team
from Obile here at Bulldog Stadium, thirty five to nine,
again the final score in Mac. I'm sure you're somewhere
down in all the hooplah down there on the field.
Speaker 4 (02:24:26):
You got me, Yeah, man, this is this is awesome.
This is awesome.
Speaker 8 (02:24:31):
Yeah you seeing all these faces, all these coaches. I
told you know, the the crazy thing about this van
is I told dam Prescott.
Speaker 4 (02:24:43):
When he walked on the field, I looked at him.
I said, you know, it's amazing how far this team
has come.
Speaker 8 (02:24:48):
I said, you know what, this one, this one has
a different field thans you at trustful, I said, because
this one, you know, their confidences, they're they're they're so high.
They're playing good ball on us like it's expected. So
when you get to the point as a ball team,
when you expect to win, it doesn't shock you anymore.
Speaker 4 (02:25:05):
And they played such.
Speaker 8 (02:25:06):
Good ball, and like y'all talked about, you know, with
j Ad mixing, mixing up and running past you know.
Speaker 4 (02:25:10):
I just went up to him, I said, you had
a great, great scheme right there.
Speaker 8 (02:25:13):
You had them all balance all night, and just to
watch that offensive line blow them off the ball and
watch our running backs just towed the rock and and
and you know with leading the team and feeling very comfortable,
you know, it's it's phenomenon. You're watching this defense. You know,
you're always gonna have a defense that wins titles for you.
And they never you know, they never let them in
(02:25:35):
the end zone. And they could have I think the
I think Van the closest they got where they're on
the two or the three, but they never broke and
give them that touchdown.
Speaker 3 (02:25:44):
So well, Mac, you're a music guy. You know what
time it is. Mac, you know what time it is.
Speaker 4 (02:25:51):
Talk to me. Are we going with the celebration?
Speaker 3 (02:25:58):
So we're gonna take a time out, Mac, We're going
back here from Bulldog Stadium. Thank you from on the field.
We got more with coach Brian Moore coming up on
the way next. But we're celebrating good time tonight here
at Bulldog Stadium as Opelika wins this one thirty five
to nine over the Baker Hornets. And we're back after
this time out here on the Kicker.
Speaker 4 (02:26:20):
Frederick Data General Human kremafor you. It's here for you.
Speaker 6 (02:26:23):
When you need a book, books it down the street.
Speaker 3 (02:26:49):
Well, the Bulldogs take care of another opponent in their
way tonight here inside Bulldogs Stadium. Final score thirty five
to nine, as opelaka opelaikah all over the Baker Hornets tonight,
thirty five to nine, and the boy to keep this
Baker team. Coach McCracken out of the end zone says
so much about the way coach Massey's defense played tonight,
(02:27:11):
and we talked about just I mean, you look at
Baker's games throughout the season. Forty two points on theat Or,
forty two on Ama Bryant, forty two on Davidson, and
he put up fourteen on Jackson, twenty on Daphney, thirty
five at Robertsdale, forty one against Foley, forty three at
Mary Montgomery, thirty five at fair Hope, twenty one against
(02:27:31):
Figer first time all season long, coach, and they put
up thirty eight on Florence last week. First time they've
been held out of the end zone all season.
Speaker 4 (02:27:38):
That's first time that been hailed under ten points.
Speaker 3 (02:27:41):
That's right, that is you're absolutely correct. And I had
to settle for three field goals tonight here at Bulldog Stadium,
not enough. As the Bulldog offense came Alive thirty five
to nine, and coach McCracken, this is the this is
the most points Opelanka has put up since forty two
against Smith's station. Quite offensive performance tonight for coach J. D.
(02:28:02):
Atkins on that side of the football. A lot of
credit goes to them, the way they were able to
miss mix and match the run with the pass and
what a game coach thirty five to nine Bulldogs.
Speaker 4 (02:28:13):
I'm just I'm just I'm so proud of this team. Man.
They've had Just like I told you a few minutes ago,
they've had a lot of they had a lot of
adversity right in the middle of the season. They could
have rolled over, but they didn't. Coach, the coaches kept
them together and they turned around and beat you at Trustful.
(02:28:34):
They beat this group and they beat Carver, and at
that time, Carver was a really good football team. I'm
they they're good and so that's three big wins right there.
Van Absolutely, I'm just I'm really proud of them. But
now I will say this, there's more work to be done.
(02:28:56):
I mean, you know, we got it. We gotta we
gotta go over there to Auburn and beat these guys.
Speaker 3 (02:29:04):
No doubt about it. Well, coach Moore is gonna join
up with us. Next we'll take a time out and
continue with our post game show. Bulldogs a winner thirty
five to nine, and more hope like a football coverage
comes your way next here on the kicking pullet.
Speaker 4 (02:29:14):
Donuto, don down.
Speaker 3 (02:29:28):
Well the dog's got let out tonight. They went at
big thirty five to nine over Baker and coach Brian
Moore joins up with us now in the booth and coach,
we went through Baker's schedule. Congratulations, first time this team
has been held out of the end zone all season.
What a what a great job defensively, first off, your
team did and this is the first biggest amount of
(02:29:49):
points your team has put up since back of the
Smith's Station game.
Speaker 5 (02:29:52):
Yeah, it was a special night, you know, I thought,
especially in the third quarter, we played extremely well defensively.
Speaker 4 (02:29:58):
You know, a couple drives, but we we bowed up
you know inside the ten.
Speaker 5 (02:30:02):
You know, sometimes the explosive offenses, when the field gets short,
it gets hard to throw it over your head.
Speaker 4 (02:30:07):
And uh man, they've got some elite guys over there.
Speaker 5 (02:30:10):
But our guys did such a great job, probably the
best job of the year of limiting explosions. They made
some place and they threw some comebacks and stuff like
that that kept them on the field that we didn't
defend as well. And you know, we had two interception opportunities,
was shoe not too two on the sideline? We had
about nine nine opportunities and uh, but we can't, you know,
I was I cautioned the coaches about talking about that
(02:30:31):
and making that a thing, you know, because we're gonna
play you know, obviously Auburn coming up, and they're gonna
throw it around everywhere and you'll have your chances and
you know.
Speaker 4 (02:30:39):
We'll catch them.
Speaker 5 (02:30:39):
I think had had we picked a couple of those,
even the game would have really gotten out of hand early.
Speaker 4 (02:30:43):
But uh, proud of proud of our guys.
Speaker 5 (02:30:45):
You know, it was the first time in a long
time we've been up at halftime too, so my messaging
was different as I talked to the team about, you know,
finding a way to score that first drive the third
quarter and and that I thought that was huge the
call JD. You know, we talked about that at at
you know, we kind of want to be a little
bit closer to midfield. I think we're like minus thirty
five or something, and then Jaywash put it right on him.
(02:31:05):
Dreve had a play and then we went right back
to the post to Jay Wysh. So good to see you're.
Speaker 3 (02:31:09):
Gonna give jd credit on those calls tonight, or are
you gonna did you buzz in on the headsets and
all those touchdown calls?
Speaker 4 (02:31:15):
Did you? The offensive coordinator called him.
Speaker 3 (02:31:17):
Yeah, I tell you what, Jay, we were just we
were talking during the game. We thought this was one
of the best calling games we've seen the long time,
the way you mixed and match did the trick plays,
didn't get one. I know you were frustrated about but
went to open up the second half with that call,
and that really, I really you could look on the
sidelines across the way and tell that really was the
flat Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:31:34):
I agree, one hundred percent.
Speaker 5 (02:31:35):
And I think, you know, we're starting to get more
comfortable with you know, I mean, I think you know
he's played two games in a row, played the full game,
played really well in the second half of the last
two games.
Speaker 3 (02:31:44):
You know what a run he had too. That was
a huge run for a first down him.
Speaker 4 (02:31:48):
Yeah, I mean, he can do that. It's a good athlete.
Speaker 5 (02:31:50):
A matter of fact, last year is crazy so young,
but in his ninth grade season he ran a lot,
you know, and now out here we're trying to take
care of him.
Speaker 4 (02:31:56):
But shoot, he's gonna have to keep us on the
grass some with his feet. You know what.
Speaker 3 (02:32:00):
Everything's off now. You run the ball when you can,
you got to pick it up. There's no saving you
for next week.
Speaker 4 (02:32:04):
You're right. Hold no, no, it's uh.
Speaker 5 (02:32:06):
I'm just so proud for our seniors and you know,
just to come home to Bulldog Stadium, see it the
way it was, the light show stuff, the atmosphere was unreal.
When our kids came down those steps with that spotlight,
it gave me chills.
Speaker 4 (02:32:19):
Man, that was cool to see, you know.
Speaker 5 (02:32:21):
Just but once again, you know Van I talk about
all the time on the show, it's it's an experience
like this. Yes, we want to win and this is unbelievable,
but we're trying to create. Look at them, you know,
we're looking down over the field of them with all
their families and administrations hugging them.
Speaker 4 (02:32:35):
And that's why this game is so special.
Speaker 5 (02:32:37):
Because you got a hundred plus people players, you got
a hundred plus band members, you got cheerleaders, you got
so many students that we're here tonight that you're just
we're here at five o'clock cheering a song. There's there's
there's a thousand people on our field right now, hugging,
you know, over a unified deal. I got former players
standing there with my son right now. I see that,
you know, a kid that I coached at Jasper. I mean,
(02:32:59):
that's what this game is about, you know. It's it's
about relationships and just a special night for our seniors especially.
Speaker 4 (02:33:04):
And it's good too.
Speaker 3 (02:33:05):
When you got Zach Bladd and Rebel Ghoster picking up
trash and the Bleezers too. It takes a team effort.
Speaker 5 (02:33:11):
Zach Blatt is so ready for Kenny Prescott's replacement.
Speaker 4 (02:33:14):
He didn't know what to do, so we missed King.
Speaker 3 (02:33:16):
He was out here today with the leaf blower vacuum cleaner,
sucking up confetti and stuff when I came up here
earlier today, and you know, he was hard.
Speaker 5 (02:33:23):
At work in our athletic direator too. Now, let me
give him some credit and the principle of the year
as well. I mean, I pull up this, you know,
this morning, and Craig's already out here with the gates
opened and you know, fences set up and ready for
this big crowd, and all I said, he and I
ride to Montgomery together. I'm so thankful to be able
to go again, and me buying my chicken biscuit again
on the way in the morning. But we talked about
you know, these T shirts and being able to pass
(02:33:45):
it out to our you know, first two thousand fans
or whatever, and Craig is handling man.
Speaker 4 (02:33:49):
I said.
Speaker 5 (02:33:49):
At one time, he said, I got it. I'm gonna
call around. City's gonna sponsor. These people gonna sponsor. They
just stepped up and made it special. And you know
something that everybody remember.
Speaker 3 (02:33:58):
You now know you got a rematch next week with Auburn.
I know after that game, I talked to the kids,
the coaching staff, you all have said, boy, we'd love
to try to we'd love to play that team again.
And said it last year too. Yeah, you know, and
you get an opportunity.
Speaker 4 (02:34:12):
Now.
Speaker 3 (02:34:12):
They've got a long streak against opal Lake, and I
think of no better time to go break it than
next week in the playoffs. But they go down to
Daphne on the road when forty to nothing, their quarterback
gets banged up. Their backup quarterback comes in tonight and
he throws several touchdown passes. From what we understand, I'm
gonna be a battle next week at coach. I mean,
what what do you You don't have to tell the
(02:34:32):
one thing is you don't have to tell them anything
next week.
Speaker 5 (02:34:34):
You know, I think, first off, I would have been
able to. I would have given a kidney to have
this rematch. I mean, you know, I just I'm being honest,
like I you know, I love you know, our kids
having the opportunities. I mean, they obviously have a great program,
and we've we've played catch up for a little while.
You know, last two years, we've had our chances, you know,
both games driving the score, uh, to make me have
(02:34:56):
a huge decision to go for to or not. And
you know we just didn't do that. And now our team,
and I know they've gotten better too. Now let's let's
call it what it is. They're playing really good right
now at the end, and coach Ether's does a fantastic job,
and they're staff do us. But you know, we got
something to prove, and you know we're gonna go over
there and give it our best.
Speaker 4 (02:35:15):
Shot. And I'm very confident in our team. I really am.
Speaker 5 (02:35:19):
I'm confident and you know that the fact that our
guys have settled into their roles. You know, we were
I know everybody's you know, young and all that kind
of stuff. Game three, but man, we just had so
many new faces, y'all. I mean, we lost eighteen starters
off last year's team and ten defensive players and we
have to play them here in front of an incredible
crowd on TV all that stuff on Thursday night, and
(02:35:41):
we just did not play well in the game. And
I don't think they played great either, be honest with you.
And like I said, they're certainly better. But we've got
an opportunity, we found an identity of who we need
to be. We've settled in, you know, we've gotten some
guys healthy. Hopefully we don't get any bad news tonight
or in the morning. Hopefully we'll have your and Waits
back next week. We held him, I just could. He
(02:36:02):
just wasn't where he could really affect the game, you know,
and I didn't want to do that. And uh so,
you know, I fully anticipate him playing next week. And
but we're gonna go give it our best shot. You know,
we were talking about this earlier. You know, it is
a it's almost like a home game. I mean, to
be honest with you, I mean because we're gonna have
our entire town over there too.
Speaker 4 (02:36:20):
I mean, same as when they came over here. I
mean they had a I mean they had five thousand people.
Speaker 3 (02:36:24):
In there on both both stadiums, on visiting side exactly.
Speaker 5 (02:36:28):
And so we're gonna have our split you know, of
of tickets and you know, and we're gonna go eight
minutes down the road and see what happens.
Speaker 4 (02:36:34):
So we're gonna prepare butts off. Man.
Speaker 5 (02:36:36):
I we you know, nobody wants it more than our
coaches and kids in this community, I can tell you,
and you know we're gonna do everything. I'm gonna do
every single thing in my power starting tonight to get
ready for that ball game.
Speaker 4 (02:36:49):
Brian, I want to ask you about their quarterback tonight.
Speaker 6 (02:36:52):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (02:36:53):
I think I mentioned this two or three times that
uh he threw the ball so well, Gos sacked about
five or six times, but he never ran the ball zero.
And I told Van, I said, y'all leave, I think
(02:37:13):
that that. I think he's a good player, but as
I watched this game tonight. I watched their offensive line
and y'all's defense. You didn't let him run the ball
at all in the second half, and I think that
they knew this game was over. And let me tell
you one thing that I loved. You opened the game
(02:37:37):
with your quarterback.
Speaker 3 (02:37:39):
You threw three.
Speaker 4 (02:37:40):
Times open the game up and I was looking over
there at their sideline like goll Ay Bom. I can't
believe they're doing that three times in a row. But
you know, you're getting something to think about. I'm just
I just can't wait till next Friday. Really, I mean,
I'm I'm so proud of you, guys, man. I told
(02:38:02):
Van Riggs, I said after the Central game and after
the Phoenix City game, if I'd have been coaching, if
I'd have been the coach, I probably would have quit
and and and give the team up to Brian Blackman
or whatever. I would have been so mad. But you know,
you held them together and you knew what the problems
(02:38:25):
were and you fixed them, and we came back and
beat a really good Carver team at the time, and
that was a huge win. And then then then we
got the last last weeks against you had Trustful and
that that was I'm still so excited about that win.
(02:38:48):
And I want to tell you something. When that game
got over, I didn't want to bring it up. I
wanted to tell you when that game got over and
y'all all left, that were about two hundred folks from
Hewett Trustful that sat down on the grass out in
the middle of the field and just it was like
(02:39:11):
they were getting betting over a funeral. And I went
up to their head coach, and I didn't know him,
but I introduced myself and he said, coach, I want
to tell you something. Y'all's football team has so much class,
he said, would you tell coach more of that? I said, yeah,
