Spence McCracken. Mac McCracken and be runing the sidelines tonight.
Jason Lee will be doing our engineering again this year,
and we are live from Bulldog Stadium in Opelaika, where
the stands are filling up energy Electric for this twenty
twenty five season open between the Opelika Bulldogs and the
(01:30):
Benjamin Russell Wildcats and boy this is a rivalry steeped
in tradition, two proud programs that have battled it out
for decades. Tonight marks the seventy six meeting all time between.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
These two schools.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Benjamin Russell holding a slight edge in this all time series,
but last year Opelikah made a statement of twenty eight
fourteen win sparking a run to the seven eight playoffs
for the first time in school history, and the Bulldogs
have also dominated this series in recent years. They won
twelve of the last fourteen matchups between these two teams,
and head coach Brian Moore enters his second season as
(02:01):
coach of the Bulldogs returning to opal like a last
season and looking to build on that strong twenty twenty
four campaign that saw the Bulldogs go nine to three
reach the second round of the seven A state playoffs,
and it was the first winning season two for the
Bulldog since twenty twenty one. On the opposite end of
the sideline, today, Benjamin Russell brings in a new chapter
under head coach Kirk Johnson.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
But boy, he's approven winner.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
He led Catholic Montgomery to back to back state titles
and brings in a very impressive fifty five and two
coaching record and also a championship pedigree to Alexander's city,
along with several new faces that are ready to make
an impact.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
We're excited, We're ready for kickoff tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Here inside Bulldog Stadium looks like the weather so far
has held off a few light sprinkles, but the sun
is starting to peek through the clouds and the stands
continue to fill in and Bulldog football is on the way.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
This is the Bulldog.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Tailgate Show and the countdown to kickoff and our pregame
festivities now brought to you I Frederick Dean Funeral Hall
that We'll be right back after this time out, you're
listening to Bulldog football here on the kicker.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Now it's time for a pregame visit with open Laca
head football coach Brian Moore, presented by South State Bank.
Now with coach, here's Van Riggs.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Coach, I know you're eager to get out here tonight
game one. Just talk about the excitement coming into this one.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Yeah, we're really excited.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
I mean, you know, in football, you know, so much
work goes in with it being you know, year round
and having so many things that we go through as
far as all season practices, through springball in summer and
now fall camp and and now game weeks. Finally here,
so excited for the opportunity to watch the kids, and
the kids have worked extremely hard. The all season has
been great with Kate McGee doing his thing in the
(03:36):
weight room, and we're excited to see how that translates.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
To the field offensive side of the football. I know
you feel like you've got a great group you're going
to bring out here, good offensive line, a great core
running backs. Let's talk about that room, because boy, that's
a crowded.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Room right now.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
It is for sure, you know, the addition of c J.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
Johnson as well, you know, with Jordan Waits and Jayalen Nelson,
c J. Pink and of course Blake Johnson can play
in that position as well.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
So we feel really good about that.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
We feel really good about our balance too, you know,
with Kolbe being a junior being able to throw the
thing around a little bit and kind of you know,
light in the box.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
You know, that was the deal last year.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
It's just so heavy, you know, so many guys in there,
you know, stopping full back dive and all that kind
of old school run that we do with under center stuff.
But I think you'll see more balanced tonight, and we
feel really good about where we are offensively.
Speaker 6 (04:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
CJ in the Red and Black game last week, I know,
he comes out, runs a kickoff back, gets a sixty
something yard run on the ground and folks are going, hey,
we're ready to see this guy in action.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
Yeah, I'm as excited as anybody. You know, he moved
to us, back to us.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
He's an OPLA like a kid, and you know, CJ
was a guy that really put up incredible numbers at
his other school.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
But he comes to us and we didn't get him.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
We didn't allow to play in the spring game, and
so we really, you know, tonight's first opportunity to get
somebody else, but expect big things. Outstanding person, great family.
We're excited to see him play.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
How do you work those guys tonight?
Speaker 2 (04:54):
I know, you know your seniors are and the guys
and the Hammer and those guys are expected to get
the football.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
But is it a rotation basis with those.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
Yeah, you know, I think you know, one thing you
talk about running backs is kind of a pitch count.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
You know, it's.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
Body blow after body blow with those guys, and so
over the season that adds up.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
So we talk a lot, you know about that with them.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
You know, everybody wants to go in and run at
twenty five times to score four touchdowns, obviously, but they
understand that this is the long game and to make
it to the end of the season in this region,
you know, you have to have balance with your guys,
and coach Landers does a great job of spreading those
the love to those guys and making sure that you know,
they stay fresh. And he'll play the hot hand. You know,
if one guy gets going, you know, if it's Jordan
(05:33):
or Blake or any of them, really, he'll kind of
keep the hot hand.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Rolling defense, I know will be a challenge tonight. They've
got some skilled players on their side of the football.
On offense, they're gonna have to really watch out for.
And Sadaria Morgan one of those big ones in the
wide receiver. That's one of the top players in the country.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
Yeah, no question, the number one player in our state,
you know, and he's he's one of the best looking
kids I've ever seen in person. You know, we played
him last year in court Ingram did a great job
with him. But you know, coach Massey and his group
have a plan. But he's gonna make some place. I mean,
there's you know, when you're when you're that highly tawder,
you're a five star guy going to Alabama, I mean, you're.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Gonna make yours. It's just he can't, you know, make
him over and over. You know, we've got to continue
to change the looks and get after.
Speaker 5 (06:10):
The quarterback and heat him up some and you know,
help get the ball out of the guy's hand and
that sort of thing. So excited about our young dbs.
You know, they worked really hard this summer. We played
with a lot of really good receivers, some as highly
rated as as Sadarian. So you know, I fully anticipate
those guys a hold up, but again, he'll make his plays.
We just got to damage control that deal a little.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
All right, quick break.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
We'll come back and finish things up with coach more
after this year. Listen, No, but like a Bulldog football.
Here on the Kicker, welcome back visit with the head coach,
Brian Moore. As we getting ready for Benjamin Russell tonight
here inside Bulldog Stadium. We talked about offense defense coach,
and just kind of talk about Kurt Johnson and facing
him tonight. I know he comes in with a I'm
in an impressive record. That guy's only lost two games,
(06:51):
and I hope we give him number three tonight.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
That's the plan. You know, he Kirk's a great guy.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
I've been able to serve on some different you know,
committees and some clinic type things with Kirk, and you know,
he's been able to share his philosophy and and uh,
you know, he's done a great job of branding that program,
you know, and bringing life back to it. Alex said
He's always had tremendous you know, tradition, and Kirk's just
adding to that, you know, with his energy and uh,
he's done a great job.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Obviously Catholic was I don't know fifty five and two
or whatever they were in his four years, but he is.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
He's a really really good coach and good person and
great mentor for those kids.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Excited to to compete with.
Speaker 7 (07:27):
Guys like that.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
I mean, that's why you know, I came Tope liking
to playing games like this, and and uh excited for
our kids to have that opportunity to compete against another
great program.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
I know things are always key to get a victory.
What's your key to win this game tonight, coach? If
there's had to be one thing that stood out, we
got to do this? Did you get to get to
get that w I think it's about the ball. I mean,
you know, we got to protect it.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
You know, we got to create some turnovers, and then
we got to run to it.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
You know, I think, uh, both sides of the ball.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
You know there's a pile there, we got to push
it and uh, you know, use all that.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
We've worked so hard to to build.
Speaker 5 (07:58):
In our strength and the way that Coach McGee's trained
our kids, But it's always about the ball.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
We got to take care of it. We gotta trust.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
Kobe to put the ball in his hands some you'll
see more of the r p O game than last year.
And as I said earlier, you know, we've got to
have great balance tonight, but it is about the ball
and we got to play discipline.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
Opl like a football.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Good luck tonight and coach appreciate the visit.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
Thanks van Go Dogs Coach Brian Moore.
Speaker 2 (08:21):

nothing to.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Us a kid call to any city he has to
laugh and get blame about the stir of the sew.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
I now I ain't Guy's gol.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Hey, the Spirit of the South Marching Band welcome you
back to Bulldogs Stadium with a great rendition of the
national anthem, and before that, God bless us America as

Spence McCracken. Our pregame festivities again presented to you by
Frederick Dean Funeral Home. We are coming to you tonight

to center for orthopedic care with two great locations eighteen
(11:14):
hundred Lake Side Circle in Auburn and eighteen Medical Aren't
Center one twenty one North twentieth Street in opalanc and
online at the ortho Clinic dot com.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
Coach McCracken, you ready to go?
Speaker 6 (11:25):
Boy?
Speaker 8 (11:26):
I tell you what, Van, I sure am this weather.
I'm probably golf in this weather the last two weeks.
Speaker 6 (11:32):
And it was so hot.
Speaker 8 (11:34):
One of my doctors told me said, you're just getting old.
You said, you know, you got to get used to it.
But tonight, if you're not here, you need to you
need to get here. And we got a great crowd
for this game. We're gonna see a great football game tonight.
You got two guys, two teams really gonna get after
(11:55):
each other.
Speaker 6 (11:56):
And Uh, I'm looking forward to it.
Speaker 8 (11:58):
Van, this is this is gonna be an whole old
fashioned Uh knock them down and Bisamond Russell has one
great wide receiver going to Alabama. Uh, and opel Like
has wanted to get back on the win track after
the loss last year in the playoffs. So you got
(12:18):
two great coaches and this is going to be a
great contest and I can't and opli Like is gonna
uh come out.
Speaker 6 (12:26):
With seventeen new starters tonight. So they go.
Speaker 8 (12:30):
We see a lot of kids who hadn't played a
lot of football.
Speaker 6 (12:32):
Yeah, but we've.
Speaker 8 (12:33):
Got a we've got a good roster. We've got a
good football team.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
All right, we'll hold your keys to the game. Next
segment coming up, coach will break down what it's going
to take to win this one tonight. But the Boys
coach mentioned the crown is filing in, the visiting stands
are filing in, and it's going to be an exciting
home opener and season opener here tonight inside Bulldog Stadium.
We'll return after this time out. You're listening to Bulldog
football right here on ninety seven point seven kicker FE.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
You are listening to Oplike a high school football here
on ninety seven point seven kicker FM. Now it's time
for coach Spence McCracken's Keys to the Game presented by
Glenn Smiths, Chevrolet, GMC and OPLI Got getting ready to smile?
Speaker 3 (13:19):
All right, coach, what I gotta do to win the
game tonight?
Speaker 8 (13:22):
Ah? This is opal like a football team that loves
to run the football, and we didn't run it very
well in that championship game last year when.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
We got down inside the ten.
Speaker 8 (13:34):
Yard line, we didn't make the big plays running the football.
So I think that we have got to run the
football tonight, make first downs and kick the ball away
from their potent offense.
Speaker 6 (13:47):
I think that's going to be the big, big.
Speaker 7 (13:50):
Thing on offense down defense.
Speaker 8 (13:53):
Listen, this big wide receiver, we held him in pretty
good last year.
Speaker 6 (13:58):
He scored eighteen ports.
Speaker 8 (13:59):
On but we've got we can't let him beat us,
and we can't let this quarterback. The word is that
he's going to be throwing the ball all over the
field tonight. So we've got the pressure a great quarterback.
If you look at most games, if.
Speaker 6 (14:15):
You pressure a good quarterback, you can make him do
things he doesn't want to do.
Speaker 8 (14:20):
Van If you let him throw and you defend against
a quarterback like this guy, this guy will throw it
thirty or forty times tonight, and so we've got to
do a good job of defending the past, especially and
of course you have to stop the run.
Speaker 6 (14:37):
Our kicking game I think is good and I.
Speaker 8 (14:42):
Think this Van, I think the first five minutes of
this game, these guys have not been in a situation
like this from Ben Russell. They a lot of them
came some of them came from Catholic. They haven't played
in an atmosphere like this. So we need to get
out for them in the first five minutes of the
game and get a lead and play smart, tough, and
(15:07):
I want to finish by this if we'll do what
we're supposed to do and play hard and play every
snap it's like it's laughing. You realize you only play
three minutes in a game.
Speaker 9 (15:24):
Each play last six seconds, and each play told you
to play about God, I don't know ten eleven minutes.
Speaker 8 (15:34):
So play your tails off and we'll get a we'll
get a win tonight. N new starters tonight, Van, So
we're gonna watch a lot of new bulldogs out there.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
All right, we'll come back and we'll have your coin
toss after this time out. You're listening to Bulldog Football
here on ninety seven point seven kickerm Welcome back inside
Bulldog Stadium. We continue with our pregame show presented by
Frederick Dean Funeral Home. Time for our captains for Opelika
(16:07):
number thirty, Blake Johnsont number twenty four, Jordan Wakes, number fifteen,
Matt Pritchett, Lakendrick Burtz number nine, also number ninety three,
Josh Davis and number fifty two, dj Oliver mac mccrack
and roam and our sidelines tonight and he'll be bringing
us our four seasons Federal Credit Union Sideline Reports and Mack.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
What was the mood like in the locker room?
Speaker 6 (16:25):
They're ready to play ball tonight.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
Van.
Speaker 7 (16:27):
You know, here we go Game one.
Speaker 10 (16:29):
Nothing really said by coach war but let's just go
play ball, protect the football and defensive lay get after
the football. So great crowd here at Bulldog Stadium. I'm
so glad the Dogs are back. Football's back. It's great
to be an American. Let's go.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
I like it.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Mc McCracken, four seasons, Federal Credit Union, Sideline Reports and
honorary captains for tonight's game, which was earlier in our
festivities here inside Bulldog Stadium. Coach Bill mcmainus was honored
twelve years he dedicated Opelika mister Chim McManus. McManus worked
at countless hours as a custodian and continues to serve
at the school. And Chief Junior Morgan, former Opekah firefighter
(17:09):
in chief of the fire Department and does so much
here with the concessions of the Lions Club. And also
Officer Montres Hunter proud twenty eleven graduate of Opalhaca High
School and has served the past eight years as an
Opahaka Police officer. So Darian Morgan, Elijah Johnson a captain
for ben Russell along with number three Kingston pre Year
(17:32):
the new quarterback for Benjamin Russell, and I believe also
number two Eric Young.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
And we'll head down for the coin toss. Look at
the team. We's moving to our theos.
Speaker 7 (18:01):
The team in Chi's called.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Maks.
Speaker 8 (18:04):
Even get in there a little closer. We can't hear
it all Old hen is man, call hen Plea. You've
won to call the man.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Wants to defer, all right, So what you're able to
hear there? Blake Johnson winning the toss deferring to the
second half, so we'll see the defense for the Bulldogs
get a chance to come out early and we'll see
what this Benjamin Russell offense can do. The other captain
was Charles Chapel, who's a linebacker for Benjamin Russell. Final
time out, we'll come back with kickoff from inside Bulldogs
(18:35):
Stadium Opelaika in Benjamin Russell.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
That's coming up on the way next right here on
the kicker.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Open like a high school football is on the air.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Stamp Blake Johnson of course down, He's got the sidelines
inside the twenty.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
He's goned pen five Touchdad called out touchdown the summersault
cent of the end.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Zo waits inside the thirty twenty five twenty wakes down
the sidelines ten five touchdown stays on the state inside.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
The twenty inside the.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Tenth five touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Temper time.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Now to the stadium for kickoff of tonight's game.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Here on the kicker, well.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Both teams are ready to take the field. The twenty
twenty five football season is just about here. The Bulldogs
rolling out in black pants, red tops, white numbers, red helmets.
They'll kick it from right to left towards the indoor facility.
Here Benjamin Russell comes out of the all white, white pants,
white tops, maroon helmets a lot like that Mississippi State
(19:40):
bulldog look, and they'll set to receive with their backs
towards the indoor practice facility. Game conditions brought to you
by First Baptist Church Opelike am proud to support the
Opalaika Bulldogs. If you can't make it a church, you can,
of course listen to the eleven am service every Sunday.
Right here on the Kicker seventy eight. Right now they
say cloudy skies in rain he conditions, But looks like
the radar is clearing on up for us and we
(20:01):
should be pretty good.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Reece Beasley has it teed up.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
He will kick from right to left and no win
here to mention at all as Reese gets ready to
put a leg into this one. And he's been very
good as far as putting it into the end zone.
And Jamie Ferguson mentioned earlier this week at the Bulldog
Luncheon he likes for him to kick it in the
corner of the end zone. He's got a certain spot,
so we'll see if he can hit it. Oh, look
(20:25):
it there, and that one is well into the end zone.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Oh boy, Reeth, no chance for a return.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
There a really good kick and we are ready to
start play here for this twenty twenty five season, it
will be Kingston pre year number three, the quarterback for
Benjamin Russell number He's a three star, the number one
player actually the twenty twenty eight class in Alabama. So
he's just a sophomore sixty three two hundred. The guy
who wants to get it to Sidarian Morgan though, is
(20:51):
a big target six four two d and twenty pounds senior,
and he is an Alabama Crimson Tide commit right now
and one of the top players in the country here
in this senior class. He huddles up with the rest
of his team. Looks like he'll be trotting out here
to the near side towards the opal like a sign
line when play begins, but the line of scrimmage will
be the twenty yard line for the Wildcats.
Speaker 6 (21:14):
For front four for Oape like a TJ.
Speaker 8 (21:17):
Thomas, Josh Davis, Mony Thomas, and Terre's Thomas junior up front.
That is two juniors and two seniors. I'll get you
the linebackers in just a minute.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Got to give a birthday. Shout out to to Bailey Smith.
Bailey Smith having a big birthday and Daddy Michael wanted
to make sure and get that out, so have.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
The birthday there, Bailey.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Here we go, Trip's receivers to the right side here
for the Wildcats as we're underway here inside Bulldog Stadium,
and it looks like a motion penalty and that's going
to be against the offense. I believe that'll be a
five yard penalty and that will back up the Wildcats.
Speaker 6 (21:51):
Good job, good job by a good start.
Speaker 8 (21:54):
Leakedrick Burkes and Caden Harris are the two inside linebackers.
The two corners, Jamail Griffin, Braden Howard. Norman Matthews is
your strong safety. Xavier Thomas and Antonius Peters are are
your two safeties.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
I believe that may have just been a warning coach
for that kneepad issue we were talking about that they're
really trying to enforce this season, So a warning I
believe was issued there.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Okay, so no penalty here.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
It'll still be a first down and ten play for
the Wildcats from their on twenty yard line defense from
Opalaika trying to get everybody in the right spot here
as a quarterback per year or work out of the shotgun.
One tailback to is right, but trip's receivers here to
the right side and nobody to the left. Snap got
over his head and the tailback comes down with it.
(22:42):
Jack Norris comes back with it and falls on at
the ten yard line. But a big loss of ten.
They'll say he got it at the twelve, so it'll
be a loss of eight.
Speaker 6 (22:53):
Good start for the Dogs. Excellent start.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
And that's some of those first game jitters you see, coach,
and some of those mistakes you make in week one.
And yes, sir, for now the Wildcats are backed up
from their own twelve yard line, first.
Speaker 6 (23:04):
Five minutes of the game. Gotta get after it.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Pree Year out of the shotgun here for the Wildcats.
He now has two wide receivers either side. They bring pressure.
He dumps it off at the ten yard line. It
is caught by Sidarian Morgan who turns it up field
close to the eighteen yard line. He'll pick up around
six yards, but it'll be a third and long here
for the Wildcats. It'll be a third and twelve for
(23:29):
Benjamin Russell. You see that pressure. They put that good
pressure on that quarterback. Look for the Dogs to do
that all night. On this third and twelve long distance,
four wide receivers, three the right single receiver to the
left side, a hard count by the quarterback, Kingston pree Year,
and there is a flag on the play. I believe
Benjamin Russell. According to the Bulldogs Laki Drew Berks, he's
(23:50):
pointing from the linebacker position and it is a false
start against Benjamin Russell. So, sir good, so that will
back them up five yards. Morgan was the one getting
the early jump there, the highly touted wide receiver.
Speaker 8 (24:04):
We'll take third and seventeen all night. Man pressure this
quarterback now.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
So it will be third and seventeen here for the Wildcats.
He'll bring the three receivers bunched in tight to the
line of scrimmage to the right of the quarterback per
Year and Morgan out by himself to the left side
in tight on the line of scrimmage. Again, a slow
high snap. Pre Year drops back throws it is caught
by Morgan at the fifteen turns out of the twenty
twenty five.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
He's got the.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Sidelines down midfield and he makes a cut at the
forty and he takes it to the house ten five touchdown,
no flags, and there is Sadarian Morgan for a touchdown.
How dangerous he can be for an eighty seven yard
touchdown for the Wildcats. Here with ten thirty five, Benjamin
Russell strikes first, a little slant pass to Morgan and
(24:52):
he did the work.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
After the Cats.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
We got a penalty Van I think that's going to
be after the touchdown. Well, you got them backed up
a sideline warning against Benjamin Russell. But that's what you
can't do with a talented receiver like that.
Speaker 6 (25:13):
We'll see it was thirty seventeen. We rushed.
Speaker 8 (25:16):
We did not put any pressure on that quarterback. We
rushed three guys. Got to play better than that.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Boys, well, with ten thirty five remaining here in the
first quarter, while Cats strike first, they're on top six
nothing with that eighty seven yard touchdown strike to Sadarian Morgan.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
Get it to your playmaker, and they did.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Here is the point after a tenth it is block
Colin Murphy's extra point, no good.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
It will be a six nothing ball.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Game here with ten thirty five remaining here in the
first quarter. Time out on the field, we'll take a
quick break. You're listening to Bulldog football here on ninety
seven point seven kicker FM, well, Benjamin Russell gets it
to their stud and Sadarian Morgan makes them pay eighty
seven yard touchdown strike as Benjamin Russell was backed up
(26:05):
on a third and seventeen to hook up with that
touchdown strike to Morgan. Extra point no good six nothing
our score here and hopell I could gets ready for
the Colin Murphy kickoff here at the forty yard line
and coach, if I'm the Bulldogs, I.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Would be very very cautious on this kick.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
A team like Benjamin Russell coming in, somebody think an
underdog in this game, you might want to do an
on sidekick or something crazy on a kickoff here being
on alert.
Speaker 6 (26:31):
It's got kickoff for the game. Did a good job.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
He put a boot into that one that's gonna head
into the end zone and will be a touchback and
unable to return it with C. J. Johnson. So we'll
see this offense come out. This is certainly one of
the bulldogs strenths is this offense. They bring back a ton,
including starting quarterback Kobe Key from last year six foot,
one hundred and eighty pounds junior he brings a senior
running back, Jordan Waits, and he's got a senior running
(26:55):
back behind him and C. J. Johnson that comes by
way of spring Wood and Hope like a kid that'd
been playing several years in the eight man football league
in the AISA, and he's gonna be a player too.
And on the outside you got Jalen Washington, Bennett Young,
couple big targets, and.
Speaker 8 (27:13):
A young Bennett Young missed almost all the last year
he did, so this is really gonna be a great
a great night for him hopefully.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Yeah, Audrey Van also comes in a new player for
the Bulldogs.
Speaker 6 (27:24):
They're making us do the knee thing too.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Everybody checking those knee pads.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
That's a big push from the state, Oh pol I
will have it from there on twenty yard line. Dogs
found themselves trailing here six nothing, ten thirty five remaining
here in this first quarter, and Jalen Washington goes in motion.
It will be a hand off to Jordan Wait's right
side and Wakes carries it up for a couple of
yards up to around the twenty two yard line, just
(27:48):
two yards there off rank tackle and it will be
second down and eight for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 8 (27:53):
Got Julian Pritchett, Jeremy Dillard, Corbyn Fears, Darius Whitlow, and
Eric Mason up front for the dog.
Speaker 6 (28:01):
Kobe Key's your quarterback. I'll give you the other ones
in a minute.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Yeah, Charles L.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Davis is a big man two six, two eighty five
and Von Tay trailer in the inside there three oh
five for Benjamin Russell. The hammer in motion and they'll
try to get it out to Jalen Washington a little
flea flicker and Jalen let it go on the turf.
They're gonna say incomplete pass.
Speaker 6 (28:19):
They were like, ooh, we're lucky there.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
That is a big lucky break there. That almost was
a backwards lateral and uh Bulldogs right there trying to
get tricky on the second play from scrimmage and almost disastrous.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
It's gonna be third and eight. So a sloppy.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Starting here for the Bulldogs out of the gate, giving
up the big touchdown to Morgan and now facing third
and eight here Bulldogs from there on twenty two Key
with a five wide look here, two receivers to the left,
three receivers to the right. Kobe gets the snap, drops backs,
got time throws and Jalen comes down with it at
the thirty one yard line and that's gonna be enough
(28:57):
for a first down. Good catch there by Jalen Washington,
and it's a laborate transfer and storage first down ninety
yards and enough for that first down.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
Boy, that was a timing route, coach.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
He threw that one before jab even even turned around
to look for the back for the ball. And that's
something that first down. I don't think Kobe makes that
throw last year. That was a really good one. Two
wides either side. Now first to ten for the Bulldogs
where they're on thirty one and a flag comes in
as c J. Johnson was in motion, and I think
they're going to get him with an illegal shift or
a movement here. Referees are miked up tonight on the field,
(29:36):
so we'll find out when the White Hat relays. The
relays it in here and you should be able to
hear along with us as well.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
But are they're.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Moving roam against the defense. Well, that's a big break
there for the Bulldogs. Have free five yard penalty and
then I'll move it up to the thirty six yard
car line.
Speaker 6 (30:02):
C J.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Johnson and Blake Johnson Johnson and Johnson combo your backfield
right now with two wides either side. Here for the
Bulldogs Kobe Keith from his own thirty six yard line.
Another whistle, man, I'm not sure.
Speaker 8 (30:17):
I think that's against Ben Russell too. That Hope Blacker
people are clapping.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Oh, it's a warning on Kobe on the kneepads. A boy.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
I know that is he's got to come out of
play and that is something that I know will frustrate
Coach More there. That's something they really preached about. So
you know, now Benjamin Russell be pending their ears back
for a run play here.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
C J.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Johnson will be the tail back to the right as
fuller Young will come in to take the snap here
on this first and five play from the Dogs on
thirty six yard line.
Speaker 8 (30:54):
This is where we've got to show what we're made
of right here and to be able to run the
ball against this defense.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
It's that that we were talking to coach More earlier
this week and he said, boy, we better not have
any deep had problems. I know he's going to be
frustrated about that one. A big shift tight end and
full back. We'll move to the left side full or
Young again in for the snap on this play, he'll
give it to c. J. Johnson running here near side
CEJ Nice spinning live across the forty after the forty
one and the flag comes in, Yeah, I think that
(31:23):
may be a hold against the Bulldogs, or at least
early indication. We'll wait and see it is a hold
against the dog, so that'll be a ten yard penalty.
So we'll be a first and fifteen coming up here
for the Bulldogs after what was a first in five
so negative plays and lots of laundry on the field.
(31:44):
Toby Key is back in the game now for the Bulldogs.
Bennett Young will check in number eighty eight. Ethan Oiola,
a tight end, is going to play a lot, getting
some action early, but he checks out now. With two
wide receivers either side for the Bulldogs. After this penalty's
marked off, it'll back things back to the twenty six
yard lines of the Bulldogs. First in fifteen nine thirty two.
(32:08):
It has been Russell leading six nothing here first in
fifteen for the Bulldogs who're just joining us. Benjamin Russell
hitting a big pass play to their stand out wide
receiver Sadarian Morgan. Coach Moore coming in want some clarification
now and wanting to talk to an official as a
pointing towards the defense. I'm not sure if something he
(32:30):
wanted to see. We'll get down to mac McCracken here
in just a moment. We get our first four seasons
Federal Credit Union official sideline report during the game.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
What's going on down there on this one?
Speaker 10 (32:42):
Oh, Van, I mean you're gonna have to have a
discussion because, I mean, if this is the way kneepads
are gonna go after the whole.
Speaker 7 (32:48):
Year, I'm not kidding.
Speaker 6 (32:49):
Yeah, I know that.
Speaker 10 (32:49):
I mean it's a knee path. I mean, wear them
in an NFL. They bring them up in college. If
they're gonna stop the football game. Yes, yeah, they got
to get this under control, or every team in Alabama's
got to buy new.
Speaker 9 (33:02):
Pants to go all the way down to their ankles
like in the eighties.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
All right, So they're marking it off here, we'll get
officials fall of a fowl instead of the previous spot
still going to be the first.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
All right.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
So they were trying to get everything figured out on
the penalty there. The penalty was from the spot of
the fouls as it occurred in the back, I guess,
and not the original line of scrimmage on the holding penalty.
So now the ball is at the thirty yard line.
It'll be first down and eleven for the Bulldogs. Colby
Key now out of the shotgun empties. The backfield drops back,
dumps it off to the hammer. Blake Johnson cut down
(33:38):
and stays on his feet up around the thirty six,
gets up close to the thirty eight yard line, and
I think he does get to the thirty eight yard line.
That'll be an eight yard reception for Blake the hammer,
and it will be a second down and three for Opalaika.
So a good eight yard pick up there on the
little throat of Blake Johnson.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
C J.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
Johnson, the tailback behind Colby Key. Here on this second
and three. Blake Johnson moves in motion now to the
right side. It'll be an option to play. Colby pitches
it to Johnson. It's cut down in the backfield. Johnson
a big loss all the way back to the thirty
three yard line, so a big negative play loss are
(34:23):
close to five yards. It'll be third and eight coming
up now for the Bulldogs. As the ball is marked
back to the thirty three yard line. Benjamin Russell did
a good job defending that one. They just were able
to string that one out. Jordan Waits checks back in
the ballgame now, trips receivers to the left side and
a single receiver to the right here for the Dogs.
Big third down coming up here. Here's Colby dropping back
(34:46):
backside pressure and they've got him. Colby dumps it off
and it's incomplete. A flag down in the backfield, and
that was before the pass.
Speaker 6 (34:58):
I don't know what this is.
Speaker 8 (35:00):
If this was a hold in the backfield, they're going
to say a tip pass.
Speaker 6 (35:07):
So I'm thinking the incomplete passing it was a hold.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
Against Opelika, and I would assume that coach Kirk Johnson
would decline this and it'll be fourth down. The punting
team comes out here for Opelika. So do you see
the crowd here from Benjamin Russell. They're excited about this program.
Coach standing room only on the visiting side, and boy,
they have really come out.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
With their hair on fire here right in the gate.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
Yes, sir, Opelikah is going to have to saddle up
and get ready here for some football tonight. Very sloppy
start from this offense and defense giving up the big
play on third and seventeen, which has the Dogs trailer
now six nothing.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
But we'll see Rehees Beasley.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
He'll stand around his twenty yard line it catch this
snap from Cam Rayley as the Dogs will punt it
away here to Benjamin Russell and a good boot, end
over end kick, and Benjamin Russell will let it bounce
up in the air. Takes a bit of an opal
like a roll to around the twenty six yard line,
(36:06):
and that's where benjam and Russell will take over. Matt
McCracken four seasons Federal Credit Union Sideline Report, Matt got
to buckle up.
Speaker 7 (36:11):
Yeah, we do Van Loyd adversity right there.
Speaker 10 (36:14):
Uh you know defensively, you know we can tell the
frustration down the sideline. We give it up the very
big play right there on that long that long pass
right there. Offensively couldn't get anything done. So look, it's
just adversity. You gotta battle through it.
Speaker 5 (36:27):
Here.
Speaker 7 (36:27):
Listen, if we can do something defensively to stop it.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Yeah, big boy football here tonight, and gotta be ready
for it, Bud. But now I have unbelievable crowd here
at Bulldog Stadium. What an atmosphere here for a Friday
night and Dogs defense got to buckle down here and
get ready. Is Kingston per Year in this offense, ain't
gonna feel sorry for anybody as they leaded here six
to nothing, two white outs to the right, single receiver
(36:51):
to the left side, three Year the quarterback. Another miskey
with a snap and there's a flag down. We'll see
if this is early jump here by the defense or
the offense, it'll be a five yard penalty one layer
or the other. Looks like it's going to be against
Benjamin Russell. So aside from their one play coach, they
had a really sloppy go on offense.
Speaker 7 (37:12):
Yeah, all start off air real first, n.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Had the one play to Scedarian Morgan. They have the
six to nothing lead, but not a great start for them.
Defense really play good except for that one busted assignment
on that long haty seven yard touchdown by Sadarian Morgan.
But that's what they can do. They can hit you
on a big play and got to defend against it.
Morgan to line up here wide to the right side.
There's two receivers right, single receiver to the left side.
(37:40):
Per Year out of the shotgun here on first and
fifteen now from his twenty yard line, and another flag
in I believe another motion against Benjamin Russell. Believe you're right,
and coach Kirk Johnson now halfway onto the field. I'm
not sure if he wants a time out. It looks
like he's bringing his whole roof off. There must be
(38:03):
a time out. We'll wait and see and he at
least wants to talk to him.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Bibo, foul start off.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
That's another false start we know, and a time out
taken by Benjamin Russell. So we'll step aside as well.
This time out roger by our friends at Southern Union
State Community College. Benjamin Russell leading six nothing, eight twenty four,
left here in the first quarter.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
Bet Reggs Laws I.
Speaker 8 (38:39):
Coach, Bench McCracken mac McCracken.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
Roam in our sidelines.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
Jason Lee, our engineer, tonight six nothing, Benjamin Russell leading
here in the first quarter, eight twenty four, remaining here
in our first quarter, as we come to you from
the Orthopedic Clinic Broadcast booth, East Alabama's go to center
for orthopedic care and coach after a penalty there for
Benjamin Russell. Another penalty they've yet to move the yard line.
This is going to be a first and twenty coming
(39:03):
up here.
Speaker 11 (39:03):
Four.
Speaker 8 (39:04):
We gotta pin these guys back now, I'm just telling
you we did no more big plays. They get one
big play on us. Need to come up with the football.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
So out of the time out, we'll see what coach
Kirk Johnson has drawn up here first and twenty as
the Wildcats are backed up from their own fifteen yard
line per Year, out of the shotgun, Norri's the tailback
to his left, two whiteouts right, single receiver of the
left side, a little delayed handoff, and the tailback scoops
up to the twenty yard line, picks up five yards
(39:39):
as he was falling down just about the entire time
he was running there. But that's Jake Norris, the senior
running back. So it will be second down in fifteen
after that pickup of five on the play.
Speaker 6 (39:54):
Good job by our front right there.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Morgan lines up left side of the field, two white
outs either side either side for pree Year. He drops back,
steps up in the pocket, doesn't like to run it,
and he took a shot there by the Bulldogs. That
was Lakey Drick Burks, the linebacker cutting him down at
the twenty eight yard line. He'll scramble though for eight
(40:17):
yards and it'll set up a second down and seven
or third down and seven coming up here for the Wildcats.
Speaker 8 (40:24):
Well, that's a big play right here. They got to
get to the quarterback. So third down and seven here
for the Wildcats. Seven twenty two clock running here in
the first quarter. Wildcats lead at six to nothing. Two
receivers either side. Per Year drops back, steps up at.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
The pocket, and he's gonna go down at the thirty
two yard line. Brought down on the play by the Bulldogs.
Speaker 3 (40:47):
That was number fifteen coming in there.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
That was Isaiah Gray making the stop and a good
hit there. And that's fourth down and two, and the
offense looks like they're staying foot for the moment here
for Benjamin Russell. But from there on thirty two yard line.
Now we see the punting team come in six fifty,
the clock continuing to run. Play clock continues to go
as well, down to fifteen, down to fourteen as the
(41:11):
punting team comes in here for Benjamin Russell. So this
looks like a pretty athletic punting team on the field here.
As Colin Murphy stands at around the twenty yard line.
Audrey then is the punt returner for the Bulldog, standing
around the thirty five yard line. Late player on here
for the Wildcats. The play clocks at zero. So and
(41:33):
now we start getting some whistles and it's gonna be
to lay a game against Benjamin Russell. Back judge comes
in quickly drops the flag. It was at zero. They
never they had the play clock rolling, So this will
give the Bulldogs a little extra room here.
Speaker 8 (41:50):
Yeah, this would be twenty five yards and penalties if
it's a penalty.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
Should be at a lay a game. And there are back
of the five yards layup game.
Speaker 8 (42:00):
Twenty five yards in penalties, and we've only played halfway
through the first quarter.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
So a line of scrimmage. Now the twenty eight yard line. Yeah,
the punter stands at around the fourteen. It's a high snamp,
puts a high thing and fun into this one. Then
calls for a fair catch at the thirty nine yard line.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
He was here, what a nice.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
Now is a bone headed play right there and by
number fifty nine and that was Campbell Dennis, and boy
he will get an earfull there. Just no, he didn't
do anything maliciously but just bumped the return man now
a little too hard right in front of the official,
and that's gonna be enough to garner a penalty. So
(42:52):
the Bulldogs are gonna be across midfield with a starting
position now, and they were gonna be here right at
the thirty nine yard line. Now they're at the forty.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
Six devo final kicking team.
Speaker 8 (43:07):
We're only four yard here minus four yards rushing.
Speaker 6 (43:12):
He so far, fan, We've got to be able to
run the ball. Got to be able to run the.
Speaker 3 (43:16):
Ball, all right.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
It's a heat time out on the field with six
eleven remaining here in the first quarter, six nothing Bulldogs
was some.
Speaker 3 (43:22):
Good field position.
Speaker 2 (43:23):
They'll start at Benjamin Russell forty six when we come back.
You're listen to Bulldog football here on the kicker, boy,
if you back in sign a Bulldog stadium. Six eleven
remaining a good penalty there for the Bulldogs, as that
one was a personal foul against the kicking team from
(43:44):
Benjamin Russell. It'll be a fifteen yarder and it puts
the Bulldogs at the forty six yard line of Ben Russell.
Time to see this offense. Coach McCracken fro Polaika. That's
got so many good players back and even some good
new additions here to the Bulldogs this season, Sir, are
you right? March it down the field to make a
statement here, so we'll see just what opal like it
can do. They do have some pieces on that offensive
(44:05):
line shuffled around there, and of course.
Speaker 6 (44:09):
Now there's eight new starters on there now eight eight.
Speaker 2 (44:15):
Most of the skill guy's back, but like you said, coach,
a lot of the up front on the offensive line.
Speaker 6 (44:21):
Right, there's only really one offensive lineman back.
Speaker 3 (44:23):
Ye at the forty six of Ben Russell.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
C J. Johnson in the backfield now and CJ will
get the kerry left side.
Speaker 3 (44:30):
There's a good run by c J. Johnson.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
He's down to the forty two yard line and CJ
will pick up four yards. That'll set up second down
and six. We'll wind under six minutes to go.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
CJ is.
Speaker 2 (44:45):
A good looking tailback for sure for the Bulldogs. He
is a six to one, two d and seven pound
running back. Jordan waits in the game now. In this
second and six play two receivers to the left side.
Kobe'll Fakett throws here to Jalen.
Speaker 3 (44:57):
Nice move.
Speaker 2 (44:58):
Jalen made another nice move out of the mounds at
around the thirty six yard line. They'll actually mark him
down at the thirty five seven yards and that is
enough for a Lambert transfer and storage first down for
the Bulldogs. Nice move there by Jalen. He made two
men come out of their shoes down the near side
and the Bulldogs have a first down and it'll be
(45:18):
first and ten at the thirty five yard line.
Speaker 7 (45:21):
Good job, good execution by our quarterback.
Speaker 2 (45:23):
At the Ben Russell thirty five two backs behind Kolby Key.
Now Jalen will empty the backfield. They'll toss it out
to Jalen. Out of the backfield. Jalen's got some running
around thirty twenty five down the sidelines at the fifteenth Jalen.
Speaker 3 (45:36):
In the ten five touchdowns, Aileen Wassing time.
Speaker 2 (45:41):
There is a flag down though at the thirty five
yard line. We'll wait and see the Ben Russell player
is standing there saying come back, and we'll see if
they've got the Bulldogs with a penalty at the thirty
five yard line. Boy, Jalen made a couple of really
nice plays, but there waving it back. It was going
(46:04):
to be a hold against opalaika. So coach Brian Moore
coming unglued on the sideline. He's having to be held
back after that one. And I did not I just
didn't see a whole lot over there. We'll wait and
(46:26):
get the official call here from the white hair.
Speaker 6 (46:36):
Only only.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
Coach Moore wanting to word with an official and he's
not getting one. That penalty will back get back to
the forty five yard line. And now coach Moore's got
a penalty thrown on him. So one after another and
Bulldogs are going backwards here on this one over the
(47:05):
other sideline warning at least Coach Moore not a happy
camper at all on the sidelines at the forty five
and then Russell will be first down in twenty now
after that penalty, and I'll see if the.
Speaker 3 (47:21):
Bulldogs can answer.
Speaker 2 (47:23):
And after that touchdown was wiped off the board, Bulldogs
trail six nothing, five twenty seven remaining here in the
first quarter and two white outs either side. Jordan waits
the tailback kolbe Key drops back, got pressure coming, steps
up in the pocket and he goes down as the
pressure comes in and collapses down at the forty nine
yard line.
Speaker 3 (47:40):
Ben Russell bringing the heat.
Speaker 2 (47:44):
That's gonna be a loss of four back near midfield
at the forty nine yard line. They'll be second down
in twenty four coming up here for the Dogs. Five
five remainings of new substitutions coming in. We'll see Blake
Johnson checking the ball game. Also Cold Dixon check in. C. J.
Johnson also will check in for Jordan Waits. Second and
(48:07):
twenty four here for the Bulldogs. All the way back
down near midfield at the forty nine yard line.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
Yeah, it will be.
Speaker 2 (48:15):
Jaalen Washington in motion. They'll take it to Jalen. They'll
give it to Blake Johnson near side. Blake makes a
nice move at the forty five and Blake just could
not outrun the last defender there. Elijah Johnson, the former quarterback,
cuts him down at the forty four yard line. Five
yard pickup. It'll be third and long here for the Bulldogs.
Four twenty four left in the first quarter. Blake Johnson
(48:39):
comes out of the game and it's third and long
here for the Bulldogs. Two wide outs our trips receivers
rather to the right, single receiver here to the near
side of the field. Our count and they got the
Benjamin Russell Wildcats to jump off sides, and that was
number ninety five Cantarious bird, Cruisy de Man still third now,
(49:06):
so five yard penalty, and I'll move the football down
to the thirty nine yard line. Now it'll be a
third and fourteen, So a little manageable here. And of
course you're getting in the territory where you could give
Reese a shot with a good chunk, or you could
go forward on fourth down trips to the right side,
single receiver left Colby drops back, got some time this
time short pass. It's caught by Van at the thirty five,
(49:29):
at the thirty yard line, and Van's gonna be near
the first down marker. He is gonna be really close.
I'll mark him down at the twenty seven yard line
of the twenty six. Gonna be close at the twenty
seven yard line. That will be a twelve yard pickup
and it will be fourth and two. And here comes
(49:51):
that heavy sent package from the Bulldogs. You hear the
crown on their feet. Blake Johnson, the full back. Blake
gets the handoff, he's got the first down. That ham
pairing it across the twenty and the hammer. I think
the ball may have popped down at the fifteen yard line,
but the Bulldogs will retain possession of it, but all
the way down to the fifteen yard line for twelve
yards needed too, and that's gonna be a Bulldog first down.
Speaker 7 (50:14):
Here you go, Good job, man, so hard.
Speaker 2 (50:17):
To defend steel coaching year two. Whoof that's elaborate transfer
in storage. First down and the Bulldogs are going back
under center here again with that I formation CJ Johnson
and Blake Johnson. Now Blake the full back, CJ the
running back, as Kolby will go under center here gets
the snamp, hands it to Johnson left side. Johnson hit
(50:38):
at the line of scrimmage, but he continues to push
the pile down close to the ten down to the
eleven yard line. It's gonna be four yards. I mean,
you can't get a first down. The Bulldogs can inside
the five first down marker right at the five yard line, so.
Speaker 3 (50:54):
To be second down and five.
Speaker 6 (50:56):
I don't think they gave him before. Man, it looks like.
Speaker 3 (51:03):
I don't say they gave him a three. Coach.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
I think you're right barely, Yeah, Brey, Yeah, down at
the thirteen yard line. I formation again here on second
down for the Bulldogs and they'll fake it quick inside
hand off all the way inside the five was Jordan
Wakes as he carries it down to the four yard line.
Good eight yard run there by Jordan waits and quick
fake to the Hammer and Jordan Waits quickly getting through
(51:27):
the hole, and it's got a first and goal for
the Bulldogs down at the four yard line.
Speaker 6 (51:33):
There you go, There you go.
Speaker 2 (51:35):
Johnson and Johnson the combo in the backfield here Blake
and CJ defensive blindman.
Speaker 6 (51:40):
They got their hands on their waist.
Speaker 2 (51:43):
See if it goes to the Hammer or CJ, they'll
give it to Blake right side. Blake hammers his way
into the end zone. Touchdown Bulldogs two six to go
in the first quarter, and who strikes first?
Speaker 3 (51:56):
Fine Hammer.
Speaker 2 (51:59):
And the Bulldogs and that point away from taking a
one point lead. Here were tied at six with two
o six to go. Was not pretty, but the Dogs
found a way to get downfield and getting the end zone.
After that big penalty backed the Dogs up all the
way to midfield and faced a third and a mile.
The Dogs were able to get a couple big plays
(52:19):
for their wide receivers and then it was the big
ground and pound game for the Dogs. Here is the
extra point Reyese Beasley and the hold by Wick Cooper.
Speaker 6 (52:31):
Boy.
Speaker 2 (52:31):
The kick is up and good, good staff there by
cam Railey and that scoring dry and powered by our
friends at OPLE likea power services hometown people working for
you online at oplelikapower dot com. Dogs on top seven
six with two o six to go, and you're listening
to Bulldog football here on the kicker.
Speaker 3 (52:55):
By here inside Bulldog Stadium.
Speaker 2 (52:57):
Opalaika taking a seven to six lead over Benjamin Russell.
Speaker 3 (53:02):
Two six to go. Ree Beasley has it teed up?
Speaker 8 (53:05):
All right?
Speaker 3 (53:06):
Oh, the extra point was no good, so it is
six to six. I missed that.
Speaker 2 (53:13):
I could have sworn it was good. So we're tied
at six. So voodoo for the kickers here so far
as both extra points are missed. Yeah, we had to
get confirmation. We thought it was good two o six
and that is an end over end kick that we'll
sail into the end zone and it will be a touchback.
(53:34):
Mag mccrack can with the four seasons Federal Credit Union
Sideline report, mag what you got, well, Van.
Speaker 10 (53:40):
That's an adversity answer right there. So we get one
of them called back on a whole penalty. Coach woar Very,
you know, not very happy, gets the side out of warning,
pumps the guys up, and we just went back to
like that said the old bread and butter and just
ran right at them and got the defensive line with
the hands on the hips. Knowing that we talked about
that earlier.
Speaker 6 (53:59):
Pops just keep.
Speaker 10 (54:00):
Levelone, go right at him, go right at him, and
we got back in the hammer hammer time.
Speaker 8 (54:06):
Man, we got to come back now and get a
stop right down here. Yeah, we don't let them do
that stuff. They did a little bit of go well.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
Aside from one big play, Benjamin Russell's offense has really
been held in check. It was an eighty seven yard touchdown.
Strike to the man, you got to keep out of
the end zone. So Darien Morgan, he lines up here
to the near side. It'll be two receivers either side,
and again the penalty flag comes in.
Speaker 6 (54:30):
That's against them.
Speaker 3 (54:32):
We'll wait to see.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
Looks like could be another motion penalty here. What have
you had to see?
Speaker 7 (54:40):
That's fifty yards in penalties. If it's against them.
Speaker 3 (54:42):
Well, they just threw them one. I'll wait and see.
Speaker 2 (54:47):
Nobody's moving either way right now, White hat comes in
and he's miked up, so we'll hear equitt that of him.
Speaker 11 (54:53):
Fraction second player, one player, second time toll bid the lega.
Speaker 3 (55:01):
All right, so that is a five yard penalty.
Speaker 2 (55:03):
Now the next equipment violation, coach will be a fifteen
yard on sportsman like against the coach.
Speaker 3 (55:08):
Good so good that if it's the same player.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
And it was again, And I was talking to Dana Barker,
he was one of the big East to Head officials.
He was at our media days. He says, let me
tell you, guys, this is gonna be something we've told
the coaches. It's going to be enforced. It is going
to be a huge deal equipment and it's the knee
pads over the knees. Benjamin Russell had minus seven yards
coach on their last drive. So let's keep that trend
going here.
Speaker 8 (55:32):
Yeah, absolutely right. I got them rushing for hardly nothing.
Speaker 3 (55:37):
Kingston prix or out of the shotgun.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
He's got trips receivers to the right high snap and
they'll give it to the tailback and he's got a
good pickup up to the twenty three yard line. And
that was Joshua Harrell And that's one of those new
running backs in the fold there for Benjamin Russell and CJ.
Pink on the stop for the Bulldogs. That's up to
(56:00):
the twenty three yard line. That will be an eight
yard pickup there for Benjamin Russell.
Speaker 7 (56:05):
Come on d.
Speaker 2 (56:08):
Second down seven here for the Wildcats and pre Year
drops back, throws here near side and laying out and
almost coming up with the interception. Was Norman Matthews a
strong safety. He laid out, but it just hit the turf. Boy,
he had a great read on that one, six.
Speaker 6 (56:25):
Foot eight three senior Norman Matthews.
Speaker 2 (56:29):
Great play, yeah at allmost almost came up with a
big interception. It'll be third and seven now for Benjamin
Russell from their own twenty three yard line. One twenty
six left. We're tied at six here in the first
quarter between Benjamin Russell and Opalaikam pre Year out of
the shotgun. He's got two white outs either side. Hard
count there. Tried to get the Dogs to jump. No
(56:49):
bike there from the Dogs.
Speaker 6 (56:50):
Big third down conversion right.
Speaker 2 (56:52):
Here, third down, pre Year drops back here comes pressure
fade pass near side. He's got Morgan and he's caught
at the fifty yard line. He was wide open, and
they're gonna call him down at the forty six yard line.
(57:12):
That is down to the forty right. I had a
thirty one yard pickup, allright, said mark him at the
will be a thirty yard pickup to the forty seven.
So first and ten on the big play, they go
back to Morgan and again good place to go when
you need a play. We're under one minute to go
(57:33):
now in the first quarter, tied at six, and Benjamin
Russell with a big pass play there from pre year two.
Sadarian Morgan come on d two wide outs to the
left side, Singer receiver to the right. Morgan not set quarterback,
continues to look to the sidelines under ten. I want
him to play clock to wind down. Now, they'll bring
(57:54):
a man in motion and a high stamp again play
action throws out into the lats at it comt They
got something cooking here. First down up to the thirty
two yard line. On that pass reception out of the
backfield was bj Bedgood the other wide receiver, and that
(58:15):
is down to the thirty two yard line. That is
good for sixteen yards and that's another first down. So
again Ben Russell now on the move here getting into
their playmakers bed Good and Morgan. That's their two best
receivers and on back to back place. This will be
the last player the first quarter down to six, down
(58:35):
to five as pre year has trips receivers to the
right side, gets it hand off in the backfield of Harold.
Harold's bottled up in the backfield and a good negative
play to in the first quarter, and maybe the Dogs
will carry that momentum into the quarter number two. But
it's been Benjamin Russell on this drive, marching it down
the field. We're tied at six. We headed the second
quarter on ninety seven point seven KICKERFM. You're listening to
(58:58):
opal like a bulldog football on the kicker Well, the
wild Cats of Benjamin Russell marching it on down the
field on this drive. But a good negative play to
end the first half. We're tied at six. As we'll
get ready to start quarter number two, it'll be a
second down and thirteen coming up for the Wildcats.
Speaker 3 (59:20):
And so far the big plays.
Speaker 2 (59:22):
Have been the big man everybody and you coming in
Sadarian Morgan who has one hundred and twenty three yards
receiving so far here on just three catches and Kingston
Prier has one hundred and thirty eight yards through the air,
so you can tell who his target has been through
the air.
Speaker 3 (59:40):
Coach McCracken is the big guy number one, Yes.
Speaker 8 (59:42):
Sir, we have big plays you got to get can't
give up the big plays.
Speaker 6 (59:46):
Got to get more pressure on the.
Speaker 3 (59:48):
Quarterback, all right, Mac McCracken.
Speaker 2 (59:49):
What you got on the sidelines cooking here as wet
start the second quarter.
Speaker 10 (59:53):
Well, they're pretty uh hey, we got to make a
stop right here, boys to.
Speaker 7 (59:56):
Keep them out.
Speaker 10 (59:56):
Everybody's low key now, not a lot of emotion right
now going on over the dog sideline. It's pretty much
laser focused here. But like I said that, you're just
filling each other out. I mean swings here in their penalties.
We just got to keep him out of the end zone.
It's gonna be a dog fight.
Speaker 3 (01:00:10):
You're absolutely right.
Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
And this crowd is very comparable to a through an
almost an apron opalika game. I mean it is packed
on the on the visiting side standing room only there,
and the home side here at Bulldog Stadium is packed
to the brim. Come on, need to make a play
here in that D line. Second and thirteen as we
start the second quarter. Here pree Year would roll to
his right, pressure in flats down the end zone and
(01:00:32):
it is caught flagged down, but I think it's going
to be interference on Opalaika and Beja Bedgood this time
comes down with a reception in the end zone and
it's going to be a Benjamin Russell touchdown thirty two
yard touchdown, throw and catch, and pre Year rolls to
his right, finds Bedgood in the end zone and once
(01:00:54):
again Benjamin Russell through the air finds the end zone
with eleven fifty three remain here in the second quarter.
As we're just underway here in the second quarter, here's
Colin Murphy for the extra point.
Speaker 3 (01:01:11):
Where's also the tesh down.
Speaker 8 (01:01:13):
We have deficit pass interfairs on the defense.
Speaker 3 (01:01:17):
Helly would be assisted on the kickup, so you heard there.
Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
Pass interference against Opalaika didn't matter as bj Bedgood was
able to come down with a reception. And here's the
extra point attempt here from Colin Murphy. Good stamp place
down and the kick is up and good Ben Russell
back on top thirteen six eleven fifty three remaining here
in the first.
Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
Half and right now at Bulldog Stadium.
Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
The stars of Ben Russell had been shining a little
bit brighter here tonight. We'll be right back after this
time out. You're listening to Bulldog football here on the kicker,
talk about here Bulldog Stadium. It was bj Ben goood
a thirty two yard reception in the Wildcats retake the
(01:02:05):
lead thirteen to six on Opelayka eleven fifty three remaining
here in this first half of play Bulldog.
Speaker 3 (01:02:11):
Shoot in section.
Speaker 2 (01:02:11):
Trying to get in there and fire everybody up as
they get on the jumbo trun and right now O
Palaikah coach mccrack in, the offense has to be a
little more consistent, run the tempo a little bit, you know,
control the tempo of the game. Right now, Benjamin Russell's
really controlled this game from the get go.
Speaker 8 (01:02:27):
Big plays van four big plays they've paid and we've
had zero big plays. Fifteen yard pass, ten yard row.
Speaker 2 (01:02:37):
Here is Murphy to kick it away and he's going
to try to kick it short, but it'll go into
the end zone and will not be returnable.
Speaker 3 (01:02:44):
He was kicking it.
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
From the forty five of O palaika so not much
of a boot.
Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
He had to put into that one. We'll see what
the offense can do.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
Got a answer back here eleven fifty three. F eleven
fifty three, remaining here in this first half, trying to
get the momentum back before these two teams head into
the locker room. Very critical drive here for the Bulldogs
to answer, because right now defense has not had an
answer for this passing attack for Benjamin Russell, unable to
get pressure on the quarterback. I think the key thing
(01:03:11):
is coach is Kingston Prior has been able to roll
around and buy some time, and he bought just enough
time to find bj Bedgood on that thirty two yard touchdown.
Speaker 8 (01:03:22):
Yeah, it's pretty passed and we lost conteen. Let the
guy roll outside on us.
Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
Let's see what Kobe can do here first and ten
from his own twenty yard line. Kobe'll get the snamp
hand off in the backfield trying to run to the
right side, and boy, I tell you, Benjamin Russell all
over that one. Maybe a one yard one and a
half yard pick up if that there by Jordan Waits
not much. Offensive line has not been able to control
(01:03:51):
the line of scrimmage here tonight.
Speaker 8 (01:03:56):
Only there's only one returning starter, the Van.
Speaker 6 (01:04:00):
Those guys are gonna have to grow up fast.
Speaker 3 (01:04:04):
From there.
Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
On twenty two, it will be a two yard pickup.
So second down and eight now for Kobe and the offense.
Two wide receivers left side, single receiver to the right side,
and Key drops back. He's got plenty of time. Survey
in the field, got to quickly release it, gets it
to Jalen Washington, but he's in the backfield in some trouble.
Jalen makes a man miss, stays on his feet and
the ball pops out and as a scramble for it
(01:04:25):
on the ground and opele like I think, comes up
with it. But boy, oh boy, are these dogs right
now just discombobulated. It's going to be third down and
nine and the dogs almost a disastrous turnover, So he'll
be third down and nine. Only loses a yard there,
But Jalen was trying to make something out of nothing.
(01:04:48):
But Kobe had all day to throw, just couldn't find
anybody open downfield.
Speaker 6 (01:04:52):
Sure did.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
Jordan Waite's will check in the ball game. Then at
young Audrey Van and then Jalen Washington along with Leland
Bell to the left side. It'll be an empty backfield now,
as Blake Johnson goes out to a wide receiver and
it's at the lay a game against Opelika's going to
be a five yard penalty. I don't believe a timeout
(01:05:16):
is called. Will wait to see. I think coach Moore
is going to say he did call a timeout. The
side judge is going to come in and maybe relay
that there was a timeout, So we'll see. I believe
the Dogs will get the time out, oh prior so,
prior to the lay of game timeout on the field,
(01:05:38):
there'll be thirteen six Dogs with a third and eight
when we come back.
Speaker 3 (01:05:41):
You listen to Bulldogs football. Here on the kicker.
Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
Out of the timeout, Opelika third and eight, Dogs from
their own twenty one yard line, ten seventeen to go.
Here the first half and it's Benjamin Russell leading thirteen
to six. Kobe Key will have a five wide look here.
Two receivers to the left trips to the right side.
Dogs need to pick up a first down here, Colby
drops back. Pressure comes, He's gonna roll to his left.
(01:06:14):
Colby now you're thinking about scrambling for it, and goes
out of ounds. Picks up a yard knocked out of
ounds near the Ben Russell sideline or on the Ben
Russell sidelines. But I don't think anything malicious there. It's
going to be fourth down and the Dogs will have
to punt it away back to this Ben Russell my fence,
and it's going to be a short field to work
with for Ben Russell. And right now the Wildcats are thinking,
(01:06:38):
thinking a two possession of lead here on the Bulldogs
and really putting Opalaika and their backs against the wall
here in this first half, Ryese Beasley will punt it away.
Cam Rayley will be the snapper, fight a scrimmage again
the twenty one yard line. There's a no gain on
that scramble there by Colby Keith good snap a line
(01:07:02):
drive kicked there by Reese and it takes a really
good role. That is a really good punt by Reee Beasley.
It's gonna get all the way down to the twenty
seven yard line. Van we got twenty eight yard line.
We got They're gonna have to make a mistake here.
Speaker 8 (01:07:19):
Now. We got to play better defense starting right now.
Speaker 6 (01:07:25):
Are we going to lose this game?
Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
Forty six yard punt there by Reee Beasley carry out
of the twenty seven yard line, actually fifty two yard
punt there by Reece Beasley. So the twenty seven yard
(01:07:49):
line the line of scrimmage here for Benjamin Russell right now,
need to turn over coach by this defense. That's so
positive to happen because right now can't play timid. And
it's tough too when you got these really good wide
receivers here for ben Russell and they stoppage in play.
(01:08:09):
Here we have got another equipment issue.
Speaker 6 (01:08:15):
Yeah, Lee, who's this one?
Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
This is Braden Howard coming out of the game. I'm
not sure if it was a knee pad or what,
but no, this is a helmet issue.
Speaker 4 (01:08:29):
Lee.
Speaker 6 (01:08:30):
I would.
Speaker 3 (01:08:32):
Really zeroing in on the equipment tonight. We got them.
Speaker 8 (01:08:34):
Come on, guys, y'all, let them play.
Speaker 2 (01:08:38):
He whiz Benjamin Russell from their own twenty six yard line.
Are they're on twenty seven? Really messing with the flow
of the game here thirteen seven Benjamin Russell with the
lead thirteen to six. Rather, it was the first to
(01:09:01):
tend here for the Wildcats. They got two receivers either side.
Kingston per Year, the quarterback out of the shotgun, drops back,
fade passed, trying to go for the home run again downfield.
Good coverage. Oh my goodness, that cannot be on the defense.
Speaker 3 (01:09:17):
There is no.
Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
Way that cannot be on the defense. There there's no
way that could be defensive pass interference. We'll wait for
the call here. It's a hold against offense. I was
about to say, thank you, coach. We were getting a
little too nervous.
Speaker 3 (01:09:40):
Anytime you see that.
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
Flag, go in, coach, immediately think defensive pass interference. But
that was just really good coverage downfield by Jamil Griffin.
I believe that was on the coverage here, great.
Speaker 8 (01:09:49):
Great coverage. Six foot one nine junior Jamel Griffin. That
whole secondary is uh graduated.
Speaker 2 (01:09:59):
Yeah, he took a shot, coach on the player that
came out. You noticed that too, because that was Braden
Howard that came out. Griffin went over to play that
cornerback position.
Speaker 8 (01:10:09):
Still first down, all right, now we need to get
right back in the game.
Speaker 7 (01:10:13):
Right here in a van. You got first and twenty five.
Speaker 6 (01:10:19):
Hit the ball back quick as you can.
Speaker 2 (01:10:23):
Come on, d I'm gonna see with the line of scrimmages,
I believe it is the eighteen yard line, all right,
Benjamin Russell from their own eighteen yard line per year
drops back with an empty backfield, throws and it has caught.
Morgan's got it at the thirty Bulls over a man
at the thirty five and that's where he's going to
be down close to a first down. Another good reception.
(01:10:43):
They go back to Morgan and he's got it up
to the thirty five yard line. A seventeen yard throw
in catch and it'll be second down in two coming
up here for Benjamin Russell. Well, anytime they've needed to play,
they've gone to them. Tonight, not only has he been
able to make the catches, we've been able to make
the runs after the catch, including the eighty seven yarder
(01:11:06):
that put Ben Russelled up first second down in two.
That was a whole shift by the offensive line. No flag,
but a good stop in the backfield by the Bulldogs.
Tray Stone, the linebacker comes in there and makes a
really nice kick in the backfield.
Speaker 8 (01:11:20):
Six one two fifteen. Tray Stone a junior job and
he brings down Eric Young in the backfield. But there's
a flag on the play.
Speaker 6 (01:11:30):
That's gonna be against Ben Russell.
Speaker 3 (01:11:32):
I think we'll wait and see the white hat.
Speaker 6 (01:11:35):
No motion.
Speaker 4 (01:11:39):
From third day.
Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
Yeah, I was about to say everybody moved before the snap.
They and I guess they did throw the flag. We
didn't see it, but it was declined. It was a
negative place. What will be a third and third and
four crowd coming on their feet wild Cats from their
own thirty four yard line. They've got two wide receivers
either side. Pre Year the quarterback eyes his sidelines. Where
(01:12:04):
at eight twenty three left in the first half, Ben
Russell leading thirteen to six, trying to convert this third
and four wild Cats when they're on thirty four yard line.
Pre Year a flag on the play.
Speaker 6 (01:12:14):
Delay of the game in that that's fight.
Speaker 8 (01:12:16):
Will be a delay a game against Ben Russell. We
believe that's right. That's delay of the game. Safety back
backfield official called it.
Speaker 3 (01:12:27):
That'll be a huge penalty against Ben Russell, big delaying
game offense.
Speaker 2 (01:12:34):
So we'll be a five yard penalty. So now we're
looking at a third and eight fall back to the
twenty nine yard line. Third and eighth here come down
on their feet here from Opalaika, pre Year gets the
snaw wide receiver moved early, no flag. Pre Year rolls
(01:12:54):
to the right, chunks one down field and nobody They
are well out of bounds and it's in complete fourth
down and the defense comes up with a huge stop
and he'll give the offense a chance with seven fifty
seven remaining here in the first half. Well, that was
a big, big seth series there, Coach tray Stone with
a huge play in the backfield on that on that
(01:13:17):
second down play, that was a really good play by
the linebacker, Trey Stone. The junior, Yes, Sir Audrey Van
stands at the thirty eight yard line to wait this
punt from Colin Murphy.
Speaker 3 (01:13:31):
He gets the snap flag on the plane.
Speaker 6 (01:13:34):
Who is that gonna be?
Speaker 2 (01:13:36):
Van calls for the fair catch at the thirty eight
yard line, but there is a flag and we'll wait
and see. I believe it's gonna be a motion against
Ben Russell. We'll see if Opelaikah wants to decline this.
Speaker 4 (01:13:50):
Yeh.
Speaker 8 (01:13:50):
I make them kick it again. He's gonna make them
kick it again. Go back and kick it, yeh. Coach
more quickly out on the field saying he wants to
re kick. Illegal formation was the official call on the play.
Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
Thirteen six.
Speaker 2 (01:14:07):
We're in the Orthopedic Clinic Broadcast booth, East Alabama's go
to center for Orthopedic Care two great locations went in
Auburn and won an ople like and online at the
Orthoclinic dot com of yard penalty.
Speaker 3 (01:14:20):
Still fourth down, Thank you, mister rev seven fifty.
Speaker 8 (01:14:26):
We almost blocked that punt right there. You know, we
got real close.
Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
Well, looks like opel like and maybe bringing some heat here, coach.
We'll see if the Dogs try to go after this one.
Audrey Van stands at around the forty four yard line.
Colin Murphy, the punter, stands at around the ten. Got
a low snap, did get a quick punt off and
then catches it at the forty one yard line. No
fair catch. You'll try to return it here and he
(01:14:50):
gets up to the forty two yard line. So much
of a difference, but the Dogs did get a little
bit of yardage with a kick seven forty remaining here
in this first half of play. Dogs trail by thirteen
to six. Seven point game here was seven forty left.
(01:15:14):
Offense has been really held in check tonight aside from
one drive.
Speaker 7 (01:15:18):
Yeah, we hadn't We hadn't been able to run the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:15:23):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:15:23):
It could take one big play, coach to flip this game.
And I think this may be the drive for it.
We'll see, I hope. So Kolby Key has the hammer
to his right, drops back. It'll be a reverse play.
They'll try to get it to Jalen. A lot of
green grass, Jalen across midfield. Jalen just talk from behind.
Speaker 3 (01:15:41):
Boy.
Speaker 2 (01:15:41):
Jalen got tracked down on the play by Elijah Johnson,
the former quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:15:48):
I believe.
Speaker 2 (01:15:51):
All right, that was actually Lagavious Calhoun who tracked him down.
But it will be enough for a first down eleven yards,
and boy, it looked like it was a out to
be a touchdown run.
Speaker 3 (01:16:03):
Big play of the team, yep.
Speaker 8 (01:16:05):
First big one of you're right, coach, eleven yards is
eleven yards?
Speaker 6 (01:16:09):
Come on, come on, old, Let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
At the Ben Russell forty seven yard line. First and ten.
After that, Lambert transfer and storage, first down. Koby drops
back on first down. They passed down the sidelines and
going outstretched arms for it.
Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
They say incomplete.
Speaker 2 (01:16:22):
Boy, Jalen thought he thanks that was Audrey Van thought
he came down with it, but they say incomplete. Boy,
Audrey thought he came down with that one. But they
say incomplete. All hit the turf. I yes, second down
in ten, So the Dogs trying to take a shot
there to Audrey Van the Senior. He's one of the
(01:16:43):
taller targets for the Bulldogs. Five ten one fifty five
Bulldogs again at the Benjamin Russell forty seven yard line.
This will be second down and ten seven to twenty
six remaining here in the first half. Jalen Weshington goes
in motion and they'll get it up the middle here
to see J Johnson.
Speaker 3 (01:17:02):
CJ.
Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
Carries it down to the forty two yard line and
it'll be close to a five yard pickup. It'll be
second down, actually third down and five coming up here
for the Bulldogs. Well I continues to run seven oh
seven left Colby with two wide receivers, one either side,
(01:17:23):
Bennett Young Jalen Washington. Now Washington goes in motion and
a quick inside hand off to c J. Johnson stood
up at the forty yard line. Only a two yard pickup.
It'll be fourth and three coming up here for the Bulldogs.
We'll see if Opelaka Alexa try to pen Ben Russell
deep or go for it here on fourth down kind
of then no man's lamb and try out here. It
(01:17:44):
looks like a coach is gonna keep the offence out.
Speaker 6 (01:17:47):
He's gonna go far. Come on a.
Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
Big fourth and three dogs at the forty yard line,
and the dogs will go out of the shotgun. Here
on this fourth and three, c J. Johnson is the tailback.
Blake Johnson is a full back lined up to the
right six twenty one. The clock continues to run. Washington
goes in motion from right to left, and off he
(01:18:10):
goes to c J.
Speaker 3 (01:18:10):
Johnson. He's got the first down.
Speaker 2 (01:18:12):
CJ just about broken brought down at the twenty nine
yard line. That's an eleven yard picked up in a
Lambert transfer and storage first down.
Speaker 3 (01:18:19):
And a great job offensively on that line.
Speaker 8 (01:18:22):
That's a great call, great block and bar off its block.
Bensman rush getting tired. I'm telling you this is about
nine snaps in a row.
Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
To the twenty nine of Benjamin Russell. Kolbe Key out
of the shotgun gets the stamp. This time, the hand
off is to CJ. And he's hit at the thirty
yard line for a one yard pickup. It'll be second
down and nine.
Speaker 4 (01:18:46):
CJ.
Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Johnston, I was at the thirty one yard line down
to the thirty yard line, so it'll be second down
to nine here for the Dogs trailing thirteen six here
with five thirty three remaining here in this first half
of play, Kolby gets the stamp, hands it off to
Jordan Waits.
Speaker 3 (01:19:07):
Waits good running right side.
Speaker 2 (01:19:08):
Ball popped out in the air and there's a scramble
for it and the Bulldogs come up with it. Now,
this will not be Coach McCracken the yardage tacked on
for the fumble. It's gonna come back to where it
was fumbled. You cannot. That is a new rule this year.
You cannot gain yardage on a fumble. So it'll be
interesting to see the spot here.
Speaker 6 (01:19:28):
Well, they ain't gonna move it, man.
Speaker 3 (01:19:30):
Well, I think they're gonna say it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:31):
It fumbled there and they brought it back because it
was down around the fifteen yard line. And I think
Coach Johnson wants some clarification on that because that is
a new rule that comes in and I think he's
wanting to know where the ball was fumbled and he's
trying to He's called a time out to think it over.
That is one of those new rules again this year
(01:19:52):
that we heard back in the summer, and Coach Johnson
wants an explanation. Right now, thirteen six time out on
the field. We'll be back after this time out. You
listen to Bulldog football. I'm the kicker. Well, the heat
timeout was added on after that. The Bulldogs do have
(01:20:13):
a first down at the nineteen yard line of Benjamin Russell.
Thirteen six our score, and right now we will past
ten seconds for station identification. They're listening open like a
Bulldog football.
Speaker 12 (01:20:23):
Here on the kicker w K K are Auburn Opal
is League County's Best Country ninety seven point seven kicker FM,
and iHeart Country station.
Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
Back here inside Bulldog Stadium. Thirteen to six is our score.
A heat time out on the field. We'll get down
to Matt McCracken, who's standing by down in the field
or a four seasons Federal Credit Union sideline report.
Speaker 3 (01:20:46):
Actually Max in.
Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
The huddle right now, so I don't think Max got
his Max got his ears on. We'll get down to
Mac here just a moment, mag what's got down there
in the sidelines?
Speaker 10 (01:20:54):
I got the if they got a score and they're
all fired up, Hey five. If you talking about making
sure you gotta have you know, you gotta have a
little luck at to stay in the ball game and
win it. Well, the fumble bounced all over us, bounced
over them, bounced over us again. Then we got it.
So I said, big first down here. Now we gotta capitalize.
I saw they were talking about. They said, boys, we
(01:21:15):
gotta get a touchdown. So all of them are fired off.
Let's if we get it in there.
Speaker 2 (01:21:18):
You're right, Matt, you're right at the nineteen yard line.
First and ten for the Bulldogs. Blake Johnson is a
full back to the right, and Blake.
Speaker 7 (01:21:30):
All right.
Speaker 3 (01:21:31):
Jordan Waits is the tailbag.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
First and ten play play action fade passed towards the
end zone. Audrey Van comes down with it and touchdown Bulldogs.
Speaker 3 (01:21:39):
Audrey Van of the end zone.
Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
And he's got a Bulldog touchdown. Nineteen yard touchdown. Throwing
catch from Kobe Key to Audrey Van, the senior back
to Opal like that he comes and he brings in
a big touchdown. Mac mccracket on the IoT trying saying
that is a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (01:22:02):
Good job, Matt. Now let's get the extra point.
Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
Tie this game up with five thirteen left here in
the first half. With Cooper to hold, cam Railey will
be our snapper and Reese Beasley for the extra point.
Good throw there by Colby Key, and a great job
of Justin and coming back for that one was Audrey Van.
(01:22:25):
Good snamp hold down and the kick is up in
this time it is good.
Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
We're tied at thirteen. Score and drive power by Lambert
transferring our score and.
Speaker 2 (01:22:33):
Drive power by Opal like a power services hometown people
working for you online at open lakapower dot com. Thirteen thirteen,
All nighted up, five thirteen left here in our first half.
We're back after this time out. You listen to Bulldog football.
Here on the kicker nineteen yard touchdown catch of Audrey
(01:22:56):
Van and the Bulldogs have tied it up.
Speaker 3 (01:22:57):
Thirteen thirteen.
Speaker 2 (01:22:58):
Here is Reese Beasley end over and kicking and again
we'll sail into the end zone. No return for the
Wildcats and Benjamin Russell will have it from their own
twenty yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:23:07):
And see this.
Speaker 2 (01:23:08):
Defense come out and get a stop. Coach, let's put
another score around here before the end of half.
Speaker 8 (01:23:12):
I said, we need right now, Van, we gotta have
a stop right here.
Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
Yeah, I got to keep that quarterback tied up in
the backfield and spin them around like a tea cup. Coach,
and let's take him down to the ground.
Speaker 8 (01:23:26):
Yes, sir, we got them backed up. We're playing at home.
Come on, guys, we got five.
Speaker 2 (01:23:32):
Minutes left, first down and ten for the Wildcats for
their own twenty yard line, and we'll see Kingston per
Year in this high powered offense. So there and Morgan
and bj bedgood the two go to guys. So far,
it's been Morgan for the most part, though, and Morgan's
(01:23:52):
got one hundred and forty yards receiving on just four
catches out of the shotgun. Is per Year got two
trips receivers rather to the right side to start out.
Speaker 8 (01:24:04):
This first at ten play, and again I think they.
Speaker 6 (01:24:12):
Him league.
Speaker 2 (01:24:16):
So on to lay a game against Benjamin Russell. I
saw the Opalalaka coaches. They were frustrated about something big
call and that five yard penalty will back up Benjamin
Russell again and from their on fifteen yard line, first
and fifteen now for the Wildcats.
Speaker 6 (01:24:30):
Sixty five yards in penalties.
Speaker 2 (01:24:32):
Per Year with a hard count gets the stamp, hands
it off to the tailback and he is hitting the
backfield spot around and Leakedrick Birks comes in there to
finish the job. And it was a nice job started
out there by Tremaine Thomas, baby TJ first there and
Berts comes in there and lays the lumber to knock
him down or a good job, so no gain on
(01:24:56):
the play hit there by Lakeidrick.
Speaker 8 (01:25:00):
Second and fifteen. Don't let number one get near the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:25:04):
Yeah, we got it. I don't think we've sacked the
quarterback tonight too. That's one thing, coach, you're gonna have
to get back there and yeah, knock this guy down.
Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
I give him time.
Speaker 2 (01:25:11):
Two receivers either side defense scrambling all around, trying to
get set here. Second down, they're trying to set up
a screen to Morgan. He's got it caught at the
twenty and he's gonna get up to the twenty one
yard line, but just six yards and you'll take that
with number one and it'll be third down, third and
ten coming up here. Four, all right, at third and nine,
(01:25:31):
coming up here for Benjamin Russell. Big down here for
this Bulldog defense at the twenty one yard line and
Coach Moore telling the Crown to get up on their feet,
tell them that student section to get up and they
answer the call. Trip's Rich single receiver here to the
(01:25:51):
near side. Third down and nine here for ben Russell.
Per Year gets the snap, rolls to the right now
thinking about taking off. He's gonna run and he's not
going to get it. He's gonna be forced out of
bounds at the twenty seven yard line and he scrambles
around for six yards, but gonna be short of the
first down and Benjamin Russell are gonna have to punt
it away here. It's a fourth and four coming up
(01:26:11):
here for the Wildcats.
Speaker 6 (01:26:13):
Great job, that's great job our guys.
Speaker 2 (01:26:18):
Now they're saying a flag on the play, but they're
pointing like it's in the direction of I don't think
there was a flag. No flag on the play. So
fourth and four and punning time. Good answer by there
by the defense.
Speaker 3 (01:26:31):
And now they.
Speaker 8 (01:26:32):
Dragging a little bit on that wid thowse white jerseys.
Speaker 6 (01:26:35):
On over there.
Speaker 8 (01:26:36):
Van.
Speaker 2 (01:26:36):
This is where the depth of a seven eighteen you
hope can come in to play.
Speaker 6 (01:26:39):
Here, Yeah, yeah, come on, come on, pressure Audrey.
Speaker 2 (01:26:43):
Van stands at around the forty five yard line to
await this punt. It's a good one that sails over
Van's head. He comes back to catch it at the
thirty got a return set up now, forty forty five
and Van's down at the forty.
Speaker 3 (01:26:55):
Six yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:26:56):
Good return there by Audrey Van, and that's gonna be
a good fear position for the Bulldogs. Is that one
almost Coach McCracken sailed over his head and he did
a great job with an over the shoulder hitch. He
probably saved twenty yards, maybe forty yards there. Coach es
saved by that return and catching the punch twenty two
yard return.
Speaker 8 (01:27:14):
Hey, let me tell you something. This is his first
year back at op like. You don't think he's loving that.
Speaker 2 (01:27:19):
Well, I'm telling you if that gets over his head.
This starting field positions inside the twenty and now the
Bulldogs have it from their own forty six yard line.
Speaker 8 (01:27:28):
It's where we gotta go right here. Van gotta make
it happen. Bulldogs from their own forty six yard line.
Kolbe Key out of the shotgun.
Speaker 2 (01:27:35):
We're tied at thirteen here with three twenty seven left
in the first half. Here's Jordan Waits. He was bumped
in the backfield. Waits stayed up right and got back
to the line of scrimmage. May have picked up a
half a yard if that, it's a really good penetration
there by Benjamin Russell's defensive line from they're trying to
rotate guys in and out. I think you're right, coaches
(01:27:56):
defense from Benjamin Russell's starting to get a little winded here.
Speaker 6 (01:27:59):
Yeah, we gotta could play here, Gotta get this one in.
Speaker 3 (01:28:03):
No gain on that play.
Speaker 2 (01:28:04):
I'll be second down and ten here for the Bulldogs
when they're on forty six, tied at thirteen three twenty
left first half. Two receivers left, single receiver to the
right side, and there is a time out on the field.
A line judge comes in and blows his whistle, comes
over and talks to the white hat here, not really
(01:28:25):
sure the stoppagen play. We got three nineteen remaining there
in the second quarter. Wait see. Conversation continues between the
white hat and the judge that was here near coach
Moore as Coach Moore was kind of throwing his hands
up wanted to know what was going on. Conversation continues
(01:28:47):
between the two officials. Thirteen thirteen all tied up. Big
drive here for this Bulldog team. There is a packed
hah else here a Bulldog stadium tonight. This is standing
room only here tonight. The entire walkway above the bleachers
on the visiting side is completely covered.
Speaker 3 (01:29:07):
And here on the home side.
Speaker 7 (01:29:12):
Three line.
Speaker 8 (01:29:14):
All right, it was on me listen, all right, So
they that was about the game clock. Ce J.
Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Johnson the tailback. Now for the Bulldogs. They say three
to oh nine on the game clock. Two receivers either side.
Four Opal aka Colbe Key out of the shotgun, gets
the snap, drops back, froze and that underneath and incomplete
trying to get it over to Audrey Van in midfield.
But Colbe short armed that one, and it'll be third
down and ten o'clock stop two or three oh one left,
(01:29:46):
and needed that one only pick up four yards of
that one's called. No chance for a Van to make
any any gain after the catch, as he was going
to the ground. But two white outs either side, see
of the Bulldogs could come up with a third down conversion.
Here third and ten dogs of their own forty six
yard line. Colby drops back pressure in his face, jumps
(01:30:09):
it short. He's got it to CJ. CJ cross midfield,
CJ down to the forty one yard line. That is
a first down Bulldog see J.
Speaker 3 (01:30:17):
Johnson.
Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
His biggest play so far of the night and it
is a gain of thirteen yards and a Lambert transfer
in storage. First down, big time, big time screen to
find CJ in a good run after the catch by CJ.
Here we go, Here we go, Here we go first
and ten Bulldogs down to the forty one yard line.
(01:30:37):
Now they'll hand it to CJ again. CJ trying to
run behind his lineman and just lost lost his footing
there and went down at the forty three yard line.
So that'll be a pickup of four yard still good
pick up there. Second down and seven coming up, pick
up a three. They'll saying he was down at the
(01:30:59):
right at the thirty play action. Kolby drops back throws,
he's got van and it is caught. Oh we connected
him down. That's got to be interference or face mass.
No flag though, boy, they ain't Daundry down. No flag.
Speaker 7 (01:31:15):
Boy.
Speaker 2 (01:31:15):
The hands are up by coach More and he's just
in disbelief. It's gonna be third down and seven coming
up here for the Bulldogs. I don't know, I don't
know how you let that one go. Two wide outs
either side here, two O nine to go. We're tied
at thirteen Bulldogs at the Benjamin Russell. All right, at
(01:31:42):
the Benjamin Russell thirty eight yard line, you know the
dogs are going to take a time out, not a
bad time out. You got one to hear. That's a
huge third down play. And ain't got to think this
one over at mag macracken. What you dialing up here?
Speaker 3 (01:31:56):
My friend?
Speaker 7 (01:31:58):
I'm not going another screen like, just did that work?
Speaker 8 (01:32:01):
Guy?
Speaker 7 (01:32:01):
I can't believe that one that I wasn't called right there?
Speaker 4 (01:32:03):
That was that was tough.
Speaker 7 (01:32:05):
But keep fighting. Let's see if we can sustain.
Speaker 10 (01:32:08):
This drive here and get some points out of a
van because either Phil Gold or close first down or
whatever we gotta, we need.
Speaker 7 (01:32:14):
To end this drive with some sort of points.
Speaker 3 (01:32:17):
Yes, sir, I agree.
Speaker 2 (01:32:18):
Our sideline reports all night, brought to you by four
Seasons Federal Credit Union, and to leave a third and
seven out of the time out. Coach McCracken, I know
if you can go to the run game here, because
it's fourth down, you can go for it. So really,
I mean, you've got your entire playbook, don't you think?
Pretty much wide open here?
Speaker 6 (01:32:37):
Yeah? I don't know what I do here. I'm thinking kind.
Speaker 8 (01:32:42):
Of, like Matt, a screenplay or a drawback, but they're
gonna be bringing everybody and run our wide receivers off
or throw that little quick out one side or the other,
and uh see if that works. I don't know, Van
I snow. We need to make a first down right here.
(01:33:03):
We got two downs to make eight.
Speaker 2 (01:33:05):
Yards all right, third and seven, four of the Bulldogs
out of the time out. We'll see what coach More
and coach Atkins and the offense draws up here. Jordan
Waits will be the tailback. Two receivers to the right side. Now,
they'll bring Jalen Washington in motion. They'll take it to Washington.
They'll give it to Blake Johnson right side, and Blake's spinning,
staying on his feet. Blake pushed out of bounds at
(01:33:26):
around the thirty two yard line. Gonna be a couple
of yards shy of the first down, but it'll set
up a very manageable fourth down here for the Bulldogs.
And that's just what you needed, coach.
Speaker 6 (01:33:34):
Yes, sir.
Speaker 2 (01:33:38):
Fort Downton, it'll be fourth down and two. As said,
it was a six yard pickup there by Blake Johnson.
Speaker 8 (01:33:45):
Man don't left their defense gets said, come on, run.
Speaker 2 (01:33:48):
It hi formation here for the Bulldogs. On fourth down
and two, quick hand off to Blake Johnson right side.
He's got the first down to the twenty five yard line,
and that'll be a seven yard pickup by Lake Johnson.
An elaborate transfer and storage first down. I market Mley
at the twenty six yard line, so minus one from
(01:34:10):
that four yard pick up, Come on, offense, let's go
one forty six. The clock continues to run the Bulldogs.
We'll go back to the I formation here. We're tied
at thirteen and one forty and the clock running. Coleby
keep taking his time. Want to burn every bit of
this game clock you can. I formation hand off here
(01:34:30):
is to Jordan Waits, and Waits hit at the line
of scrimmage, picked up one and that is it. Down
to the twenty five. Clock continues to run down to
one twenty three. And I know one thing Coach Moore's
thinking here, even if you don't store a touchdown here,
don't turn the ball over. You got a really good
kicker in Reese Beasley that can give you three points.
That's right. I agree with you, and I may be
(01:34:52):
lulling this defense to sleep. Maybe for a shot here too.
It's going to be a throw right here. C. J.
Johnson is the tailback. Hoby pump fakes, try and take
a shot at the ends on there's Ben and Young
touchdown bottles, rock them to sleep and hit them with
the dagger. Bennet Young five ten senior touchdown nineteen thirteen
(01:35:17):
with fifty four seconds left in the first half.
Speaker 3 (01:35:19):
And there you go, coach, coach, catch him napping. He
was off to the races wide open.
Speaker 7 (01:35:26):
Yes, sir, Van Riggs, there you go, big play.
Speaker 8 (01:35:29):
Hey, guess what we now have four big plays to
their five.
Speaker 2 (01:35:34):
Yes, sir, And that was a twenty five yard touchdown pass. Yes, man, man,
that was a good throwing. Good catch here and Opalk
will also get the second half Kent, Remember, coach, we
deferred that, so the Bulldogs will get the football to
start the second half. But hey, fifty four seconds a
(01:35:55):
lot of time for this Ben Russell squad to score.
Speaker 3 (01:35:58):
So the defense is.
Speaker 2 (01:35:59):
Gonna have to be waiting for, you know, a big
chunk pass downfield when they get the football.
Speaker 3 (01:36:04):
After this kick, we.
Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
Just got a penalty van five yards. Well that's okay.
I think I think Reese likes it a little further back.
Maybe that'll help him out. And just knock it right
through the uprights here, five yard penalty with Cooper as
your holder. Cam Rayley is the snapper, and here's Reese
bees leader put up the little extra on the extra
(01:36:28):
point bump. Kick is up and the kick is good,
and a flag comes in. That's an off sides Maybe
that's off sides against Ben Russell, so we can decline
this unless they just made contact.
Speaker 3 (01:36:41):
You ain't hope like he's gonna have to kick it again,
see hopel like you're gonna have to kick it again.
Speaker 6 (01:36:57):
No, don't go for two.
Speaker 3 (01:36:58):
Ye don't do that. The fan coaching staff wanting to
go for two.
Speaker 6 (01:37:06):
Yeah, yeah, I know, I know.
Speaker 2 (01:37:08):
What it's really right back where a normal extra point
kick would be, because you get the five yards back
and then let's see reached.
Speaker 3 (01:37:19):
Just put this thing through the uprights here. Six point
game right now.
Speaker 2 (01:37:25):
But here's the point after attempt, good stamp, good hold.
Speaker 3 (01:37:30):
And the kick is no good.
Speaker 2 (01:37:32):
He pushed it left and it is a six point
ball game. Nineteen thirteen, fifty four seconds remaining, and that
is a no frustrating there for the special teams unit.
Two extra points missed tonight for the Bulldogs. One missed
by Ben Russell and something that normally is automatic for
this team. Six point ball game though, fifty four seconds
(01:37:58):
left nineteen thirteen, and got to find a way keep
this high potent offense side of the end zone here
with fifty four seconds left.
Speaker 3 (01:38:10):
I know that'll be a challenge in itself. Coach, Yeah, don't.
They're gonna chunk it downfield.
Speaker 8 (01:38:16):
You know, Benjamin Russell has not played a very good
second quarter, and I think one reason is because of
the big plays that we've gotten, and we've taken them
mentally out of the game a little bit. We can't
even let them get anything right here and have van nothing.
Speaker 6 (01:38:34):
We get the ball in the.
Speaker 7 (01:38:35):
Second half, don't we Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:38:38):
Yes, sir Opelikah. We'll get to put all to start
in the second half. So it'll be huge here to
get a stop, maybe get this to be a two
possession game.
Speaker 3 (01:38:51):
Point coaching.
Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
Our eight seasons of broadcasting Opelika football, I don't remember
an opener this big an This is exciting of a crowd.
Speaker 3 (01:38:59):
It is just.
Speaker 2 (01:39:01):
What an atmosphere tonight here inside Bulldog Stadium for those
on fortunately able to make it with us. We're glad
you're with us here on the radio or on the
NFS network where he's puts a boot into that one
that's going to go into the end zone. He took
a little frustration out on that one and it rolls
out the back of the end zone. Six point game
nineteen thirteen, and here comes the offense from Benjamin Russell.
And we saw out of the gate early in this
(01:39:23):
game on a third and seventeen an eighty seven yard
touchdown through this Adarian Morgan. But since then he's been
able to, you know, get his yardage, but he's been
able to let him get the big play. It was
bj bedgood on the other touchdown.
Speaker 8 (01:39:37):
They ain't had a big place since the first quarter.
Knock on wood. That's good. That's good. Heck, we got
more yardage now than they got almost double Jason.
Speaker 4 (01:39:48):
You know that.
Speaker 2 (01:39:50):
Unbelievable Kingston pre Year in this bolt or this Benjamin
Russell offense. Well, come out first and ten from their
own twenty yard line, right to left.
Speaker 6 (01:40:03):
I hope they could try to get try to get something.
Speaker 2 (01:40:05):
He will pick this off five wide receivers, three to
the right, two to the left side. Per Year gets
the snap, drops back throws. It is called of the
twenty six yard line, turning up field for the first
down up to the thirty one yard line, and that
was caught by number seven Elijah Johnson, the former quarterback
for benjam Russell from last year. Play in both ways
(01:40:28):
tonight place in the secondary, end place and wide receivers.
You can see there first down and ten up to
the thirty one yard line. After that eleven yard pickup
thirty four seconds thirty three, the clock continues to run
pre year drops back rolls to the right's punt around
hit lost the.
Speaker 3 (01:40:44):
Football and he picked it back up. It was picked up.
Speaker 2 (01:40:47):
By alignment and he lost the football and there's a
scramble for it at the thirty nine yard line. A
flag down. I think the Bulldogs have it. Hope Alika
says they've got it. But I think what's gonna happen.
You can't advance a fumble. I'm not sure if this
is gonna boy.
Speaker 6 (01:41:07):
The other boy caught it, was running with it.
Speaker 2 (01:41:11):
We'll see if it was illegal touching. I'm not sure
it's gonna be our ball. Officials are huddling up. No,
that's our ball, all right. Since the defense comes up
with it, it should be Opelika football officials are huddling
(01:41:34):
up making sure they've got the right call.
Speaker 6 (01:41:36):
How many timeouts we got left?
Speaker 1 (01:41:38):
Zero?
Speaker 6 (01:41:40):
One?
Speaker 2 (01:41:41):
Opal like of the one time out. We'll see what
the white hand says here. All right, no flag, gold,
odd football line?
Speaker 6 (01:41:55):
Yes, come on.
Speaker 2 (01:41:58):
Boys, pressure on the quarterback, coach. We talked about it.
Dogs haven't been able to get there. But that was
a great job by.
Speaker 5 (01:42:06):
The sea here.
Speaker 7 (01:42:06):
Boy, that defensive end came in there.
Speaker 6 (01:42:09):
I don't know who that was, Yeah, I was.
Speaker 3 (01:42:11):
I missed exactly who.
Speaker 6 (01:42:14):
TJ Thomas or Terres Thomas, one of them.
Speaker 2 (01:42:16):
I see if the Bulldogs can put in the end
zone there two wide receivers either side. Colby Key drops back.
He has got all day to throw throws. One caught
at the sideline. Audrey Van makes the reception of an
eight yards pick up and let's see him. Ten seconds
(01:42:39):
left on the game clock. They're bringing back. They're gonna
say incomplete pass. What they're gonna say he went out
of bounds and came back in illegal k All right,
out of bounds one, So it's gonna be second down
in ten And now the official on the far side
of the field comes over and all right, now you
(01:43:00):
want to have at least a shot with one time
out to try to maybe put a field goal on.
Speaker 6 (01:43:04):
Yeah, we don't need about ten more yards.
Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
Dogs are trying to go for the sideline shot there.
I'm not sure if they're going to call a penalty
on the illegal touching there on Audrey van if he
went out of bounds and came back in.
Speaker 3 (01:43:27):
What the discussion may be.
Speaker 2 (01:43:29):
But there's four referees huddled up right around the ball
right now with ten seconds left, Bulldogs leading nineteen thirteen
Opelaka with the football of the Benjamin Russell thirty nine
yard line, and every official but the one lone ranger
here on the near side is discussing.
Speaker 3 (01:43:49):
What just happened.
Speaker 6 (01:43:50):
And that back judge he has no clue back there.
Speaker 3 (01:43:53):
Yes, he's bad.
Speaker 2 (01:43:53):
I forgot he's back whether he had a couple back there, boy,
there's three more hiding out. We'll see what the white
hat has to say. It will be a penalty. Yeah,
it's going to be illegal touching against Opalaiko. So that's
a ten yard penalty back to the forty nine yard line.
(01:44:14):
So that really takes you, takes you back and makes
it tough to try to get a field goal up here.
Unless you can pick up a lot of yards quick
and get a quick time out of here, there's ten
seconds to work with. Made at least fifteen yards. They
have a shot. Where are they talking about now, coach?
(01:44:37):
You know it's game one tonight for the players and
the referees tonight. So yeah, I think they're resetting the
game clock now.
Speaker 6 (01:44:53):
Here you go.
Speaker 2 (01:44:54):
So they put three extra seconds on there, thirteen seconds
now on the game clock. Thirteen and now thirteen seconds
left here in the first Town Bulldogs have it at
the bench of Russell forty nine yard line. Now, after
that penalty, see if Kobe can pick up a chunk
of yards here. He's got five wide receivers, four to
(01:45:16):
the right, one to the left side. That's the short
side of the field. They'll try to get a screen
pass to jalb Washington slip straight on his feet, gonna
have to get out of bounds, and we'll get out
of the forty one yard line with six seconds left,
and we'll see if they give Reese a shot here
for a long field goal or take a shot to
the end zone just six seconds left. Didn't have to
(01:45:37):
use the time out, well, Jalen did a good job
just staying up and not going down to the ground.
I'm gonna keep my fence out here. May just be
a shot to the end zone here. With six seconds left, he.
Speaker 8 (01:45:47):
Either had like a quick out. They get it down
to maybe two seconds.
Speaker 2 (01:45:51):
Opelika does still have the one time out in their
back pocket. Third and twelve at the forty one yard line,
Kobe drops back throws here near sight.
Speaker 3 (01:46:01):
It's incomplete.
Speaker 2 (01:46:02):
One second left and I don't know if coach is
gonna risk a field goal here or not. Would be
about a fifty six yard or wouldn't it? Yeah, that
will be a chunk. Yeah, with one second left, just
(01:46:25):
take a shot of the end zone here, we'll see
three wide outs to the right, single receiver left.
Speaker 3 (01:46:31):
They'll leave C. J.
Speaker 2 (01:46:31):
Johnson in and ople miche will take that last time out.
They had one time out left and with one second
why not?
Speaker 3 (01:46:38):
Mac? But cracking down with the four.
Speaker 2 (01:46:40):
Seasons Federal Credit Union sideline report, Mac, you know what
they're dialing up right.
Speaker 7 (01:46:44):
I'm trying to get a little steaky peek there.
Speaker 3 (01:46:46):
They'll hit you go right, Yeah, I brobably.
Speaker 7 (01:46:48):
Something something deep there to give it a shot. But yeah,
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (01:46:51):
About that field goal, Van, because if you get a block,
scoop and six, so probably just playing this mort but
you know, let's see if we can get something here.
If not, in the halftime and you make some adjustments, Bud, all.
Speaker 3 (01:47:03):
Right, thanks so much, Matt mccrack.
Speaker 2 (01:47:05):
Go the force in the Federal Credit Union Sideline Report
and coming to you from the Lord's Pedic Clinic Broadcast Booth,
East Alabama's Go to center forth Pedic Cara two locations
eighteen hundred Lakeside Circle in Auburn and eighteen Medical Arts
Center one twenty one North twentieth Street in Opalaika.
Speaker 3 (01:47:23):
See what Kobe's got in the cannon here.
Speaker 2 (01:47:25):
Maybe they're gonna put Sidarian Morgan, a wide receiver back
at the five yard line to try to knock anything down.
Bulldogs are at the forty one yard line. Don't want
to throw an interception. Dogs are up nineteen thirteen. One
second to go at the forty one of Ben Russell,
(01:47:48):
and it will be a run play here to C. J. Johnson,
and the Bulldogs will be comfortable just running out that
one second, not risking anything and not a terrible decision
there of playmakers there in the secondary for Benjamin Russell.
We get McCracken to catch up with Coach Brian Moore
headed into the locker room with a nineteen thirteen lead
(01:48:08):
over the Benjamin Russell Wildcat. So Matt, when you get
ready with coach, you can take it away.
Speaker 7 (01:48:14):
Thanks guys, Coach Moore.
Speaker 10 (01:48:16):
A lot of adversity early in this game, packed out crowd,
you know, just two teams of getting after it.
Speaker 3 (01:48:22):
What you see in the first half.
Speaker 7 (01:48:23):
And what do you need addressed to the dogs halftime?
Speaker 6 (01:48:25):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (01:48:25):
So much.
Speaker 5 (01:48:26):
I mean, we just got to stay the course. Let's
move us away back. We got to stay the course
with this young team, you know, and and I mean
the kicking game we had missed with paight since I've
been here, and we missed two and three and three tries.
It's an operational thing. It's you know, we got to
clean that stuff up. Obviously, the two touchdowns they have
were incredible plays by their kids. We got caught up
(01:48:46):
inside on that screen with one and then six just
jumped over top of us and caught it.
Speaker 4 (01:48:50):
But they're gonna get theirs.
Speaker 5 (01:48:51):
We needed to score right there that last drive to
be able to take a little bit extra momentum in
the game, but we didn't do it.
Speaker 6 (01:48:57):
But again we got to.
Speaker 4 (01:48:58):
Stay the course.
Speaker 5 (01:48:58):
We're okay, they get the ball, we got five stots,
we found some they've had a hard time running the.
Speaker 6 (01:49:02):
Football, which is huge.
Speaker 5 (01:49:04):
Uh, but we got to keep getting to the quarterback
and being better, you know, obviously on the back end
man of cutting routes offt and that's sort of thing.
The one that you saw where they had the offensive holding.
We cut her out off and did a great job.
Speaker 10 (01:49:14):
That's what we have to do, all right, bron you
talked about, I know with the first year, last year
year here, how are we gonna How are we gonna
compete when we get down? How are we gonna you know,
just keep firing on, you know, just don't give up.
And you know, hey, they've bounced back and they got
a lot of hitting them out, but you know, we
bounced back and you know, I know things will been
promising in the second half.
Speaker 5 (01:49:30):
Well our you know, the pitch count, the play play
count is way way up for us.
Speaker 6 (01:49:34):
We've snapped at thirty.
Speaker 5 (01:49:35):
Eight times on the high fence and probably played twenty
snaps on defense. So it's body blows over time. You know,
you hope you're wearing them down. It looks like we are,
and so you know, hopefully we can continue, but we gotta.
We got to get on top of some of these routes.
Speaker 4 (01:49:46):
That's the biggest thing.
Speaker 5 (01:49:47):
We continue to let them get these one on ones.
We don't get safety help over the top. It's gonna
be a long night and we got to get to
the quarterback.
Speaker 7 (01:49:52):
All right, let's go and dress your dogs. Thanks Matt.
Speaker 2 (01:49:54):
All right, that's back McCracken with head coach Brian Moore
heading into the locker room. Dogs dude lead it. After
a battle in the first half. Nineteen thirteen and we're
at the havel Benjem Russell marching band about entertain the
fans here inside Bulldog Stadium. Jason Lee's going to be along.
Take a look at some scores around the area and
take a look at our first half stats when we
come back here. On ninety seven point seven Kicker FM.
Speaker 12 (01:50:13):
W kk R Auburn Opalaika is League County's Best Country
ninety seven point seven Kicker FM and iHeart Country Station.
Speaker 2 (01:50:23):
Van Riggs Hall of Fame Coach Spence mccracket, Mac mccracket
on the sidelines. Jason Lear, engineer, We're glad you're with
us here on ninety seven point seven Kicker FM and
on the NFHS network of course anywhere worldwide on our
iHeartRadio app. Here is Colin Murphy to kick at off.
He'll kick from right to left as the opening kick
of the second half, will sell into the end zone
(01:50:44):
and not returnable for Opelika. C. J. Johnson the leading
rusher there for the Bulldogs in the first half. So
we'll see Colby Key and the offense start out from
their own twenty yard line. They'll have a six point
lead here in the second half, after Opelika found themselves
trailing twice in that first half, got down six nothing,
and then found themselves trailing thirteen to six before the
(01:51:05):
Dogs came back to tie the game and then take
the six point lead into the locker room. So Opelaika
has put up twelve unanswered on Benjamin Russell.
Speaker 8 (01:51:16):
Got that same offensive line that started the first half
fresh and ready to go.
Speaker 6 (01:51:21):
Boy, this is a big, big drive right here.
Speaker 2 (01:51:25):
Koli Key out of the shot gun again from his
own twenty yard line and motion there by the Bulldogs.
They'll move and shift from left to right. Now, Jalen
goes in motion from left to right, and there's a
penalty flag thrown by the back judge. I'm not sure
if too many men were moving or motion, but it
looks like it'll be a five yard penalty against the Bulldogs.
(01:51:47):
We'll wait and get the official call here from the
white half.
Speaker 3 (01:51:54):
Oh, we got a scratchy mic there. We can't hear,
but it was.
Speaker 2 (01:51:57):
At your penalty against the Bulldogs, backing them up five
yards to the fifteen yard line. Very similar start that
Benjamin Russell had to begin the game under center. Now,
Kobe will go here with a receiver either sigh. Now,
a big shift by the offensive line to the right side.
Benjamin Russell was ready for that. One man in motion.
(01:52:18):
Kobe quick hand off back around to the inside of
Blake Johnson. He's got some daylight. Twenty five. Blake hit
the thirty still on his feet, tight rupping the sidelines
across the forty forty five Blake up post the midfield,
big pember Johnson gets it all the way up to
the forty eight yard line for a thirty three yard run.
Speaker 3 (01:52:34):
That's your big play right there.
Speaker 8 (01:52:35):
Van, there's one of them, Yes, sir, it was huge.
Speaker 7 (01:52:40):
Love that call.
Speaker 2 (01:52:41):
Now there's a flag in the backfield. Oh man, this
one's coming back.
Speaker 3 (01:52:49):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:52:51):
A white hat has gotten the hanky on the ground.
We didn't see it. This is going to be two
negative penalties here for the Bulldogs on this drive. The
white hat has the penalty flag down at around the
fourteen yard line. I will wait for the official call
here from the white hat hold against Opalaika. Something's going
(01:53:18):
on with this microphone. Good gracious, that's gonna be back
to the Thank you to the seven yard line. Now
huge two penalties now to be first in twenty three
the Dogs. We're gonna have it up near midfield. God
lead up with big Yeah. That was a huge penalty
(01:53:41):
there first in twenty three. Now for the Bulldogs. Colby
out of the shotgun and just a quick hand off
to the right side, and that was Jordan. Wait, it's
had something there, but it closed up quickly and Jordan
gets up to the twelve yard line. Jordan does pick
up twelve yards, but Irish it' say five yards up
(01:54:01):
to the twelve and it will be second and eighteen
coming up now for the Bulldogs. Dogs were their own
twelve just underway here and tough start, way behind the chains.
Here out of the gate, and here on this first possession,
Kobe drops back, takes a shotdown phield. He's got Jalen
and that is not the way at the forty five
(01:54:24):
yard line. No flag on the play, and the Bulldog
fans not liking that.
Speaker 3 (01:54:31):
Jalen went up for the foot fall.
Speaker 2 (01:54:33):
They got spun around and they got knocked away and
it's incomplete. It'll be third and long here for the Bulldogs.
Third and eighteen. I Tollo coach, I don't really think
he got there early. I think he just made a
good play on it.
Speaker 6 (01:54:47):
Yeah, that was close.
Speaker 2 (01:54:52):
I would have taken it. Third down and long here
for the Bulldogs. Dogs their on twelve yard line. Colby
out of the shotgun with one loan back. They'll give
it to the backfield and here's c J. Johnson running
right side. CJ a good run up close to the
twenty five yard line. We're gonna be about five maybe
six yards to be five yards shy of the first down,
and the Bulldogs will have to punt it away. CJ
(01:55:14):
did a good job getting back a good chunk of
yardage up to the twenty four yard line or they never.
Speaker 6 (01:55:23):
Suspect a fake punt right here with it.
Speaker 3 (01:55:25):
But I wouldn't think so. I don't think coach More
would either.
Speaker 2 (01:55:30):
Fourth and six, Reese Beasley shake this one here to
the near side and it hits down at the forty
six yard line, and just not a good strike there
by Reese and Ben Russell's going to be set up
first and ten at the OPAL like a forty seven
yard line. Well at disastra start here the first second
(01:55:51):
half here for Opal like a penalties penalties, penalties, and
then now Ben Russell set up with a really good
field position at the OPAL like a forty seven yard line,
ten to twenty five remaining Dogs leading nineteen thirteen. And
now this high powered offense from Benjamin Russell comes out
and they'll have the football at the Bulldog forty seven.
Speaker 6 (01:56:10):
Oh, we got to get a stop here, boy, that
was bad.
Speaker 8 (01:56:14):
Beasley came out here and practiced before the half too,
before the second half started.
Speaker 2 (01:56:20):
And the special teams have been a tough one here
so far in this game for the Bulldogs. Two wide
receivers to the right side, Kingston pre Year the quarterback
out of the shotgun I'll have one wide out to
the left side and running back to his right. Per
Year with a hard count lost the football, quick hand
off in the backfield, nowhere for Norris to run.
Speaker 3 (01:56:38):
No gain on the play.
Speaker 2 (01:56:39):
Good job Tremaine Thomas in there on the stop for
the Bulldogs may be TJ and again nothing on the
doing on the ground game here for the Wildcats. DJ
Jackson checks of the ball game. Now for the Wildcats.
(01:57:04):
Second down and ten no gain on that play for
the Wildcats from their own or from the open like
a forty seven yard line motion. I believe they got
Scedarian Morgan moving early. He went in motion. That's going
to be a five yard penalty, and we'll back the
Wildcats now across midfield. That'll put them back at the
(01:57:31):
forty eight yard line. They're on forty eight now, Benel
and Russell moving from right to left, heading towards the
indoor facility side the west end zone here at Bulldog Stadium.
Second down in fifteen per Year rolls to his right,
throws Sacedarian Morgan caught at the forty five and brought
(01:57:51):
down at the forty yard line. That'll be good for
twelve yards. Third and three it's gonna set up a
third down and short. Actually third and two. They gave
him the thirty nine yard line.
Speaker 6 (01:58:05):
Yeah they did.
Speaker 2 (01:58:06):
That's your diad, Norman Matthews on that stop on Sadarian Morgan.
But here's a third and two and four down territory.
If you're Ben Russell too, and they're fans, they're the line,
the walkways in any place you can find on the
visiting side to catch a view of this one per year.
(01:58:29):
Out of the shotgun here on third and two, they'll
go ground game there and right at the sticks was
number four Jack Norris. And he's gonna have enough, I
believe for the first down. If he's not, he's right
at the sticks. Oh no, boy, it's close. They have
you yet to signal. I think the Bulldogs stopped him short.
It's gonna be fourth down and inches la Kedrick Burks
(01:58:52):
was on the stop. They're gonna say first down, they're
not even gonna measure it. So first down, Benjamin Russell.
And this is a six point game again, so it
was very tight. When here nineteen thirteen Opelaika with the lead.
(01:59:13):
I need another one of those bad snaps to get
away from this quarterback. He's been able to corral most
of them. Kingston per Year again, just a sophomore six three,
two hundred pound quarterback, good looking athlete. Back there first
and ten at the thirty eight yard line of Opelacah.
Speaker 3 (01:59:29):
Per Year knocked.
Speaker 2 (01:59:30):
Down in the backfield this time not gonna get away from.
Speaker 3 (01:59:32):
The pressure and he was sacked on the play.
Speaker 8 (01:59:35):
Great play right there, and that was Brailin Coal, I
believe him. In ninety six. Ninety Oh that was number ninety.
Speaker 2 (01:59:49):
Okay, oh that's TJ. That was Baby TJ. Tremaine Thomas, Yeah, yeas,
Jersey was all tucked up. Couldn't tell Baby TJ.
Speaker 6 (01:59:56):
He's our only starter back from last year on defense.
Speaker 3 (01:59:59):
So here's second down in sixteen.
Speaker 6 (02:00:02):
Neede a big play, pressure.
Speaker 2 (02:00:04):
Pressropping back per Year gets it away over shot Sidarian Morgan.
That was good pressure there by Tremaine Thomas Ninder fits
a line.
Speaker 6 (02:00:11):
That was great job by Jermaine.
Speaker 2 (02:00:14):
And tray Stone was also in there in the linebacker spot,
putting pressure on him. It's gonna be third down and long,
third and sixteen.
Speaker 6 (02:00:20):
It's huge right here.
Speaker 7 (02:00:22):
Huge.
Speaker 6 (02:00:23):
Don't let number one beat you.
Speaker 2 (02:00:26):
Ball At the forty three of Opelika third and sixteen
with seven to fifteen left Opelaika with a six point
leader in nineteen thirteen. Big down here for the defense
per year drops back, got pressure coming, They'll dump it
here to the near side, setting up a screen and
a flag down on the play here on the near side.
This one should be coming back. Finally, they had to
(02:00:46):
be a hold on Benjamin Russell and that was a
good screen pass set up to bj bedgood. They had
what they wanted. But they got a flag here on
the near side. That's a hold against Benjamin Russell. That's
a big one, boy, that will be. That's gonna put
it back there to the forty yard line. Almost, Yeah,
it'll put it back across midfield. So what was a
(02:01:08):
third and sixteen, we'll back it up.
Speaker 6 (02:01:11):
It's gonna be at about the forty two yard line,
van Yeah, should be.
Speaker 2 (02:01:18):
Yeah, they're gonna mark it all the way across midfield
back at the forty eight yard line.
Speaker 6 (02:01:22):
That's ten yards, isn't it.
Speaker 7 (02:01:24):
Yeah? I was thinking it was fifteen.
Speaker 2 (02:01:26):
Okay, Well it will be a third and twenty five now,
So this is right where they want to be.
Speaker 3 (02:01:31):
They're gonna get it to number one.
Speaker 6 (02:01:32):
Yeah, they're gonna throw at number one out double covering.
Speaker 3 (02:01:34):
Now two white out. It's either side.
Speaker 2 (02:01:37):
Kingston pri Or, the sophomore quarterback, gets the snap, drops back,
steps up in the pocket, now wants to take all
I believe it was past the line of scrimmage and
it is intercepted anyway downfield.
Speaker 3 (02:01:47):
No, they say incomplete.
Speaker 2 (02:01:49):
It was in and out of the hands of number
fourteen for the Bulldogs Leland Bell.
Speaker 3 (02:01:53):
But they say incomplete.
Speaker 2 (02:01:55):
It's fourth down anyway, and it'll be plenty time here
for God and Russell.
Speaker 6 (02:02:01):
That's okay, great job.
Speaker 2 (02:02:03):
D Leland Bell, one of the players, coach, it'll play
both ways. He was back in the secondary there and
he'll play wide receiver. So he's playing offense and defense tonight.
And the punter trots out here. This is Carson Spears
who will punt. It will not be Colin Murphy who
anne was the place kicking duties. There was no flag
(02:02:24):
on the play. There was one down for a moment,
but they waved it off.
Speaker 6 (02:02:28):
And we need a big play right here.
Speaker 2 (02:02:29):
Guys, come on and see if Audrey Van can get
another good return. Coach, he had a really good return
last time out. Save some big yardage on a punt too.
Here's Spears gets it nearly block. Boy, they just missed
it and it's gonna hit down at the twenty five.
It'll take a Benjamin Russell will roll all the way
(02:02:50):
down close to the ten yard line. Boy, the dogs
just about got in there and block that one, and
that time Spears got the roll all the way down
to the round. The eleven yard line is where the
Bulldogs will take over. But a good stop there by
the defense, Well.
Speaker 8 (02:03:05):
We got we got to get our offense back in
gear now where we have two penalties on that last drive.
Speaker 2 (02:03:14):
Boy, that ended up being a really good playing forty
yard playing after the doors almost.
Speaker 6 (02:03:18):
Blocked it, got a heat time out.
Speaker 2 (02:03:22):
Ye, dogs will take it from their own twelve when
we start back play nineteen thirteen Opelaka football from their
on twelve with six thirty six remaining in the third quarter.
If we're back after this time out, here on the kicker,
welcome back here, bulldog statum. Let's head down for a
(02:03:43):
four seasons Federal Credit Union sideline report. Man, that was
a good stand by that defense.
Speaker 10 (02:03:47):
Yeah, that was a big, big stand, big stay. I'm
glad you know they got that penalty as well, So
we got one against us, and you know, don'tch that one.
But hey, a lot of energy right there in that
huddle during that time out, saying we're just gonna challenge
you guys. We'll run the football, We're gonna try to
open up something here. So I'm gonna lean on you guys.
So let's see what happens.
Speaker 2 (02:04:06):
That's back my cracking, bringing us a four seasons Federal
Credit Union sideline report, and Dogs will have it from
their own twelve yard line up by six here nineteen
thirteen was six thirty six to go, Kolby Key out
of the shotgun. They'll have two receivers to the left side,
Blake Johnson the full back, they'll hand it to the tailback.
And again not much there at the line of scrimmage
for the ground game, which you thought the Bulldogs will
(02:04:28):
be able to really lean on tonight. Ben Russell's defensive
line has said, no, sir, They've worked on that one
for a while.
Speaker 7 (02:04:36):
C J.
Speaker 3 (02:04:36):
Johnson on the Kerry no game second and ten.
Speaker 6 (02:04:40):
Ah Lee, that's bad. I got gotta come back now.
Speaker 2 (02:04:44):
I think one thing the Dogs will certainly work on
the back to the ground game this week at practice,
and of course a lot of new guys breaking in
there on that. And if you're gonna play Ophalika, you
know you're gonna try to stop the run first. So
that's something I know they've been keying on. Second down
in ten Here from the twelve, Kolby Key gets the
stamp and they'll give it straight to Blake Johnson. Johnson
across the fifteen. Johnson got a board ball all the
(02:05:07):
way up close to the twenty. He gets to the
nineteen yard line, that will be a seven yard pickup.
Speaker 8 (02:05:12):
Good job, good blocking up front by Dillard and Corbyn Fears.
Speaker 2 (02:05:17):
So now you're in a third and they give it
the twenty as they did so two, so good pick
up there by Blake Johnson. Blake hadn't had to tote
the rock like he normally has, but he's been the
go to guy when you needed it. An a motion
penalty there by hope of life, and that's going to
back him up five yards something on that offensive line.
(02:05:42):
That's gonna take the Bulldogs back to the fifteen yard line.
It's gonna be third and seven.
Speaker 6 (02:05:57):
Oh goodness, got to get this first down.
Speaker 2 (02:06:01):
Yup, who's your go to guy, your playmaker. I think
you gotta find Jalen or of course Ceejay's been good.
Speaker 6 (02:06:07):
Yeah, he's gonna chunk this.
Speaker 2 (02:06:08):
One, and he got lots of options here, but you
might have to go through the air to get this one.
Speaker 4 (02:06:11):
Here.
Speaker 2 (02:06:12):
Third and seven with five minutes to go here in
the third quarter, Kolby at quarterback, Jalen goes in motion
now from right to lift, they'll play action and throws
out here in near side. It is called Jordan Waits
has it and Waits tripped up, but he's got enough
for the first down across the twenty five up to
the twenty six yard line, eleven yards and a Lambert.
Speaker 3 (02:06:31):
Transfer and storage first down. Big playing there to Jordan Wakes.
Speaker 8 (02:06:34):
Big first down by Jordan Waits. Great call by the
opal like coaching staff. Little boot pass out there in
the flats. Good job, We're gonna break one here in
a minute.
Speaker 7 (02:06:46):
I can just feel it.
Speaker 8 (02:06:46):
Man.
Speaker 2 (02:06:47):
Up to the twenty seven yard line, there'll be first
and ten Bulldogs. Jordan Waits remains a tailback. Two receivers
to the right side, and off goes to Jordan and
again nothing there and a flag comes in Andy that
was in the back judge through that one, and I'm
not sure whether you could throw a hold on that one.
It was just a bottled up mess. But let's see
(02:07:08):
what it was. Maybe a face mask. Are they're going
to get a hold against opelike again? I tell you what,
Coach Hon Fens and wide, the night has been getting whipped.
Speaker 6 (02:07:18):
Mason go Lee can't do that? Eric ten yards.
Speaker 2 (02:07:28):
Well, you got to credit these guys, Davis Traylor, Varner,
these guys up front here for Ben Russell, they were
really not the headlines coming in, but they've done a
good job really holding the run game in check here
for Opalika, so ten yard penalty back to the twelve yard.
Speaker 6 (02:07:48):
Line, clocks running fast.
Speaker 2 (02:07:51):
Back into the sixteen yard line, or that the seventeen
seventeen yard line line of scrimmage is seventeen here for
the Bulldogs, it'll be first and twenty four ten to
go here in the third quarter. A lot of clock
going off here. If you can cash in after this drive,
you can at least work most of most of the
(02:08:13):
third quarter off man goes in motion. They'll hand it
to Jordan Waite's dies a tackler of the backfield. The
boy he's just hemmed up right down on the left
side of the line. No gain on the play. It'll
be second down in twenty three forty five, and the
clock continues to run to the second down and long
coming up here for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 3 (02:08:33):
And the Bulldogs are gonna pull away here.
Speaker 2 (02:08:36):
It's gonna have to probably go through the air, and
kolbe Key is just not going on the ground game
right now. The only runners so far to have any
big success it's been Blake Johnson. A wide out either side,
single back set here for Colby Key on second down,
Kobe will drop back, looks fires one down field deep
and double triple coverage and it is knocked away.
Speaker 3 (02:08:57):
An incomplete boy.
Speaker 2 (02:08:58):
He had Benett Young and Jayalen Washington, but he also
had three defenders for Benjamin Russell.
Speaker 3 (02:09:05):
That was a dangerous pass and.
Speaker 2 (02:09:09):
One of the really good players for Benjamin Russell, Elijah Johnson,
the former quarterback who now plays defenses down and he
is in pain, and you can tell he is. He
is not an ankle or leg injury. He is down
and it does not certainly hope the best for that
(02:09:29):
young man. But we'll take a quick time out here
on the field with three sixteen remaining here in this
third quarter, back after this time out here listening to
Bulldog football.
Speaker 3 (02:09:39):
Here on the kicker.
Speaker 2 (02:09:45):
Elijah Johnson is up and appears to be just a
crib for that young man. So that's good news for
Benjamin Russell. Second down. I'll be third down actually in
twenty no gain on that last play. Bulldog's line of
scrimmage is going to be right at the seventeen yard
line and a long way to go here on third down,
three sixteen to go here in this third quarter. Bulldogs
(02:10:07):
lead it by six here nineteen thirteen, but have not
been able to get anything going on this drive. Colby Key,
see if he can hit a pass here. He's got
trips receivers out to the left side of the field,
one receiver in tight. Now it emptied the backfield to
see j Johnson will line up at a wide receiver,
so five wide look here for Kobey. Colby drops back,
rolls here nearside, looking down field, throws and its tip
(02:10:29):
nearly intercepted. Try to get it to Jalen Washington, but
just not a good pass on the run there by
Colby Key. And it is fourth down at a mile
and the Bulldogs are gonna have to punt it away
here under three minutes to go in the third quarter.
Jalen broke away late. There wasn't gonna have the first down,
but maybe he could have picked up fifteen. Gotta have
(02:10:51):
a good punt this time. Bryest Beasley stands inside the
five yard line. That catch this snaw. Cam Rayley gets
back a good one and Reese Peasley at this time
it's a much better punt into this one. But we'll
be returnable at the forty yard line for VJ Bedgood.
But a nice tackle there by the Bulldogs coming up
on that stop was Cammed and Rayleigh. That was your
(02:11:13):
deep snapper getting all the way downfield and making that stomp.
Speaker 8 (02:11:17):
Coach McCracken, Now there's a great coverage by that punt
team right there.
Speaker 7 (02:11:20):
Boy, we needed that.
Speaker 2 (02:11:21):
Cam Raley got all the way down there after making
the snap and made that style.
Speaker 3 (02:11:26):
Good job, boy, Cam.
Speaker 8 (02:11:27):
Boy, that is really really a good play.
Speaker 2 (02:11:31):
Unsung hero of special teams right there, when you can
get downfield and make a hit on a player like
BJ Bedgood who was a three star wide receiver.
Speaker 8 (02:11:41):
Yes, sir, got our starting front end there. Thomas Davis,
Thomas and Thomas right. We got three Thomas's in there.
Speaker 2 (02:11:49):
Here we go, wild Catsils starting for their own thirty
nine yard line. They trailed by six here nineteen thirteen,
with two fifty one left in the third. Per Year
out of the show. A little like movement again here
by Benjamin Russell, but nothing doing on the line. Josh
Davis in there to hit the running back right when
he got the hand.
Speaker 3 (02:12:08):
All that was Joshua Harrell and no game, go ahead, coach.
Speaker 8 (02:12:15):
They just they just looked tired to me. I'm talking
about Benjamin Russell.
Speaker 2 (02:12:21):
Yeah, And you would hope at some point in this
offense for Polaka could just you know, I'm run it
down the throat, but hopefully it's coming.
Speaker 6 (02:12:28):
I hope his defense can make a play.
Speaker 2 (02:12:30):
Here, two whiteouts either side. Per Year out of the
shotgun with a running back to his left. Pre Year
dropped straight back throws all wait and out of the
hands Braiding Howard had an interception. He threw it right
to him and he dropped it at the forty nine
yard line. But it's incomplete. It will set up third
down and ten.
Speaker 6 (02:12:50):
Was that going to number one?
Speaker 3 (02:12:52):
I think so?
Speaker 2 (02:12:52):
But there was definitely miscommunication as pre Year just dropped back.
He threw it right to Braiden Howard.
Speaker 4 (02:13:00):
We go.
Speaker 2 (02:13:02):
Pressure three straight incomplete passes for pre Year trips to
the left side and one wide out to the right side.
Here on third down and ten, Harrol is the long
back to the left of pre Year. Now he'll move
to the right. Come on, christ come on third down
and ten play here for the Wildcats from there on
(02:13:22):
thirty nine and a time out taken by Kirk Johnson.
Speaker 3 (02:13:25):
Good goes to think this through.
Speaker 2 (02:13:28):
So with two nine remaining here in the third quarter,
a big third down play coming up for Benjamin Russell
and coach Kirk Johnson wants some time to think it over.
We'll be at back after this time out. You're listening
to Bulldog football here on the kicker. Well, big opportunity
(02:13:49):
here for this defense rope of like it to come
up with a big third down stop. It will be
third down and ten coming up here for the Wildcats
from their on thirty eight yard line and.
Speaker 3 (02:14:04):
Two o nine left in the third quarter.
Speaker 2 (02:14:06):
Per Year will come out of the time out with
trips receivers to the left side. He'll have a single
receiver to the right side from their on thirty nine
yard line. Pre Year gets the snap, got some time,
steps up in the pocket and across the middle find
Sadarian Morgan for the first down to the forty four
yard line, a nineteen yard reception.
Speaker 8 (02:14:29):
It took him too long. He couldn't get to the
quarterback that coming.
Speaker 2 (02:14:33):
Yeah, he just had too much time to survey the field.
They're gonna mark him down actually to the forty three
yard line, so it'll be an eighteen yard reception for
the first down to Sadarian Morgan. One forty nine clock
run in Benjamin Russell, trailing by six. But on the
move after that big pass reception, pree Year with trips
to the left side again the Whiteouts moved early. No
flag on the play. Pre Year steps up in the
(02:14:54):
pocket and he's going to be sacked La Key Trick.
Birks was there and then Josh Davis came in to
help him out. It'll be a sack or tackle right
at the line of scrimmage. Good job seck it down
and tend no gain on the play. Good job getting
to the quarterback there. You're gonna have to get to him, coach.
If he has all day like he did on that
(02:15:14):
third down. He'll find somebody to throw it. You know,
he had some time on that play.
Speaker 8 (02:15:19):
We got to stay in our lanes and get to
this guy.
Speaker 2 (02:15:22):
I was watching Thompson play last night. Seaborne drops back, Coach,
There'll be three people on his guy. He just throws
it to them. They're just that good, those wide receivers.
Three to the near side. They'll throw it to Bed Good.
He turns up field. Gonna be tackled down at the
thirty nine yard line. That will be a four yard
pickup and another third down coming up here. Four of
the Bulldogs tray Stone good. Stop there. It'll be third
(02:15:43):
down and six moving up here for the Wildcats.
Speaker 6 (02:15:46):
They're throwing almost every dawn.
Speaker 2 (02:15:48):
Now, Yeah, and this is gonna be four down territory
here for the Wildcats in a six point game. Here
as we wind down close to the fourth quarter, thirty
six seconds left, hearing the third Dog's up by six
pre year out of the shotgun, three to the right
and one to the left and one tail back to
his right. He drops back, steps up fade past trying
(02:16:08):
to get.
Speaker 3 (02:16:08):
It to Morgan. And it was a one handed ground
out of bounds.
Speaker 2 (02:16:11):
Tank coverage, no flag, and the quarterback got a shot
too at the end of it.
Speaker 3 (02:16:16):
No flag on that play. Carson Riddle Ah had a
hit on him.
Speaker 6 (02:16:21):
It's gonna be a big play right here.
Speaker 2 (02:16:23):
And here's a fourth and six coming up here for
Benjamin Russell.
Speaker 6 (02:16:27):
A Carter called interference on that. Well, I'm just.
Speaker 8 (02:16:30):
They've they've let a few go. But yeah, I was
with you, coach, that was I'm gonna they gonna put
They're gonna try to pin them back on.
Speaker 3 (02:16:38):
Interesting move. Well, he doesn't like what OPA's offense is done.
Speaker 6 (02:16:42):
Leave the defense in there. Watch the fake here.
Speaker 2 (02:16:47):
I ope like his defense now is discombobulated, and they
bring the punter out.
Speaker 3 (02:16:51):
Gotta watch this punter.
Speaker 4 (02:16:52):
Two.
Speaker 2 (02:16:53):
He's a he's an athlete, a wide receiver. Carson Spears.
That's said delay of the game.
Speaker 3 (02:16:59):
Mhm, probably gonna back them up five yards.
Speaker 7 (02:17:05):
Who late to change your mind? Now?
Speaker 2 (02:17:09):
An interesting call. I would have thought that Kurt Johnson
would have went for that one there. But he likes
what he sees out of his defense so far. And
that's not much a lot of you know, not a
lot of respect right now for Opelaga's offense.
Speaker 3 (02:17:20):
Coach.
Speaker 2 (02:17:21):
Late bomb gets the snap back there, there's a high
hanging punt, fair catch called for and he's got to
go into the end zone. That was a good break
for the Bulldogs. Yell sorry, they'll take it at the
twenty yard line. So Ben Russell unable to pin the
Dogs back, and we'll see Opelaga's offense come out for
their on twenty yard line and four seconds left here
in the third quarter of Opelago with a six point lead,
(02:17:42):
and coach, after that defensive series, your offense has got
to come out and put some points on the board
if you want to win this game. Now's the time
to get down there and make us a two possession game.
Speaker 8 (02:17:51):
You're you're right, mister Riggs, you are absolutely right. And
we should have done that in the third quarter, and
they stopped us, and so let's see what we can do.
Speaker 2 (02:18:01):
All right, Bulldogs will have it from their own twenty
yard line. One play here and then we'll head to
the fourth quarter. Just four seconds left here in the
third Bulldogs leading by six nineteen thirteen.
Speaker 6 (02:18:11):
We got that one holding penalty on that long run.
Speaker 2 (02:18:14):
Two whiteouts either side here for Colby Key Blake Johnson
the full back. Now they'll move a wide out in motion.
That's Jalen Washington. Kobe gonna roll here to the near side.
Pressure comes throws intercepted at the fifteen yard line and
out of bounds at the thirteen, and Benjamin Russell gonna
have the football and we start the fourth quarter right
(02:18:36):
at the thirteen yard line of Opalaika. It they's passed
by Colby Key and the last thing you wanted to
do was have a turnover in that situation. And we
head to the fourth quarter with all the momentum on
the Ben Russell side. Nineteen thirteen. We're back after this
time out. You're listening to Bulldog football here on the kicker.
All right, dog, he's leading my sixth as we started
(02:19:06):
the fourth quarter nineteen thirteen. But an interception to in
the third quarter by Benjamin Russell has them set up
first down and ten at the o Palaika thirteen yard line.
Speaker 3 (02:19:19):
And right now.
Speaker 2 (02:19:22):
The Bulldog defense in a tough situation with these wide
receivers from Benjamin Russell, Kingston free Year back with the
football now first and ten of the thirteen, they'll bring
a man in motion. They'll give it to the man
in motion here near sy. This is Bedgood trying to
turn it upfield at the ten and a nice tackle
near the eye of Allens Marker. And that was a
(02:19:44):
good stop there by Antonius Peters for Opalaika a senior.
Speaker 6 (02:19:48):
Good job. That's a good job. I want to give
him two yards.
Speaker 2 (02:19:52):
And wound up picking up three yards down of the ten.
But it'll be second down and seven benjiam and Russell
can pick up a first down at around the three
yard line.
Speaker 3 (02:20:05):
Block stop.
Speaker 2 (02:20:05):
With eleven fifty three left in our game nineteen thirteen
Dogs with the lead of Benjamin Russell threatening after the
big Bulldog turnover. Two white outs either side here for
the quarterback Kingston Frier. Norris is the loan back and
Preyer now flush steps up in the pocket, wants to
(02:20:26):
take off and run. Tackle it at the ten yard line.
Antonio Peters again on the stop for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 6 (02:20:33):
A tackle.
Speaker 2 (02:20:34):
Yeah, Peter's with two great stops. It's third down and seven,
no gain on the play and unable to let Preyer
scramble for any extra yardage.
Speaker 8 (02:20:45):
All right, Dan, Hey, they're gonna go to number one
right here now.
Speaker 2 (02:20:50):
Bulldog crowd getting on their feet here inside of Bulldog Stadium. Boy,
and if you're Benjamin Russell, you go, we don't score here.
We're in trouble. Trips to the right, single receiver to
the left side, prior out of the shotgun here on
third and seven, Priyer drops back throws back of the
end zone and tipped and knocked away and a flag
comes in and Benjamin Russell will get bailed out with
(02:21:16):
the flag trying to get to Morgan and had no
chance to catch it. But it was a great defensive
play coming in and knocking it away, and they're going
to get a hold against Opalaika.
Speaker 3 (02:21:32):
The last defender that came.
Speaker 2 (02:21:33):
In that knocked it away was not the one that
had the hold. It was the initial coverage on Morgan
trying to break free in the end zone. They had
double team on him. But nh a Lei, I think
we've seen worse tonight. But they get the flag there
and now we're waiting on the white had to come
(02:21:57):
over and make the call official. So it'll still be
third down, third down and two, So we'll see if
(02:22:18):
they go to the ground here pre or out of
the shotgun, gets the stamp, hands it in the backfield
and you have to be stopped shy of the goal line.
But it will be first in goal at the two.
That was Jack Norris on the run. First and goal
right at the two now for Benjamin Russell. Ten fifty
(02:22:39):
five left in the game, six point lead right here
for opalak in nineteen thirteen and boy hanging on for
dear life at this moment, Benjamin Russell has came to
play tonight here inside Bulldog Stadium.
Speaker 12 (02:22:56):
Take it out, Wake out, wake out.
Speaker 2 (02:23:01):
Norris checks out of the ballgame. It looks like they'll
go empty backfield here and zero on the play call.
I gotta to lay a game against Benjamin Russell. They
were bringing in Elijah Johnson to run the Wildcat quarterback there,
the former quarterback last year, and I think Benjamin Russell
was able to get a time out in time they were,
(02:23:21):
so no delay a game. But it will be first
and goal from the two for the Wildcats. After this
time out, we'll be right back ten twenty six to go,
nineteen thirteen Opelaika with the lead, but Benjamin Russell knocking
at the door when we come back here on the
kicker out of the timeout, first and goal for the Wildcats,
(02:23:45):
first in goal from the two. Ten twenty six left
in the ballgame. Dogs lead at nineteen thirteen. Elijah Johnson
checked in the ball game. Gonna warn wildcat quarterback here.
We'll see he will stay in the ballgame and he
is a runner when he gets.
Speaker 8 (02:24:03):
And a flag on the play, Bulldogs say it's another penalty,
another procedure penalty against Benjamin Russell.
Speaker 2 (02:24:11):
Looks like it is, so that will back them up
five yards. That's a huge one when you're at.
Speaker 3 (02:24:16):
The two yard line. Coach, yes it is, coach, but.
Speaker 2 (02:24:21):
Crackett having flashbacks from the goal line with a false
start right Coach, yes, sir, First down and seven now,
and again Elijah Johnson will stay in to take the snap.
Speaker 3 (02:24:34):
He gets it, runs to.
Speaker 2 (02:24:36):
The right, got bottled up, goes back and left now
still on his feet, and finally himed up at the
three yard line. He was able to scramble around and
it'll least second down and goal inside the five at
the four ten oh eight clock. Continuing to run here
in the fourth quarter. Well, he's a tough one to
(02:24:57):
bring down, coach, he was there quarterback all last season.
Second and goal now from the ford, Johnson goes right
side and ends the end zone for the touchdown, and
we are tied at nineteen and a point after away
from Benjamin Russell taking a one point lead here in
this ballgame. Next points have been anything but automatic tonight
on both sides, so the pressure is on Colin Murphy.
(02:25:25):
Nine to fifty three left in our game. We're knotted
up in nineteen here at Bulldog Stadium in a night
tonight where not many close games are going on around
East Alabama. Doesn't look like lots of one side of affairs.
Auburn having no trouble with Booker, Florida and Central Phoenix
City taking it too Penson Valley on the road tonight.
(02:25:46):
That one is through the uprights and it's a one
point lead for the Wildcats twenty to nineteen. Benjamin Russell
now has the lead with nine to fifty three to
go here in our ball game. We'll be right back
after this time out. You're listening ople like a Bulldog
football here on the kicker third time tonight. The Bulldogs
(02:26:11):
have found themselves trailing. We'll see if Opelika can answer back.
And that snapped a.
Speaker 3 (02:26:19):
Run.
Speaker 2 (02:26:19):
Opelikah had a twelve unanswered points and now Benjamin Russell
takes the twenty to nineteen league we'll catch up with
Mac McCracken for a four season Federal Credit Union sideline
report coming up.
Speaker 3 (02:26:30):
As Colin Murphy.
Speaker 2 (02:26:32):
Get trade to tee it up and kick it back
to the Bulldogs and I fence that has not done
a whole lot here in the second half at all.
Jason Leek, what's keeping stats? I don't think we had
many positive yards at all here so far in the
second half.
Speaker 6 (02:26:45):
One first down, Van.
Speaker 2 (02:26:47):
Murphy puts a foot into this one that may go
out of bounds. It's gonna bounce and go into the
end zone though, and that'll move it out into the
twenty yard line, so Opelika will have it first and
ten from their own twenty yard line. Yeah, coach, I
was watching Thompson last night. You know, they got several
good receivers at about six three sixty four and they
were tied with Carver, and in the second half, boy,
(02:27:09):
they just threw it up to those guys and they
would be double coverage and they just go up and
jump up and catch it.
Speaker 3 (02:27:14):
And that's kind of.
Speaker 6 (02:27:15):
They beat them pretty bad.
Speaker 3 (02:27:16):
They pulled away in the second half.
Speaker 2 (02:27:18):
And when you got a guy like Sadarian Morgan and
then the other guy like bj bedgood two Division one
prospect receivers like they do it is it's a task to.
Speaker 3 (02:27:28):
Takes an entire defensive effort.
Speaker 2 (02:27:32):
Kobe king out of the shotgun, We'll see the Bulldogs
can get some offense going two wide receivers to the right.
Now they'll bring Jalen Washington in motion from right to
the left and going back to the ground game, and
this will be Jordan Waits up to the twenty four.
He'll pick up four yards, but again that's four really
tough yards on the ground.
Speaker 3 (02:27:53):
For a second down and six.
Speaker 2 (02:27:57):
Guine thirty five of the clock continues to run here
in a one point game, can you get a nine minute,
thirty twenty nine second drive, Coach mccrackett, punch it in here.
Blake Johnson now in motion as Kolbe works out of
the shotgun. Here on second and six, Kobe rolled to
his right, steps up throws to one deep downfield, trying
(02:28:18):
to get it to Audrey Van and he got tackled
down in the secondary. Bryce Carter going to be flagged
for a pass interference and I'll be a fifteen yard
or against Ben Russell. Give the Bulldogs a first down,
try to get into Audrey Van on a slant pass
cutting across the middle of the field. And I see
Kobe did a good job of letting Audrey worked himself
(02:28:40):
open on that route.
Speaker 6 (02:28:41):
Yeah, there's a great route too.
Speaker 3 (02:28:44):
It'll be a fifteen yard penalty. Dogs will have it up.
Did they call a hold? Should have it there? I the.
Speaker 8 (02:29:03):
Close to the forty right at the thirty nine.
Speaker 7 (02:29:10):
Gotta break, gotta break something.
Speaker 2 (02:29:13):
Come on, So Bulldogs now first and ten from their
own thirty nine yard line. After that penalty, nine to
eleven to play man goes in motion. Here's a handoff
in the backfield to c J. Johnson and CJ have
wrapped up in the backfield, stays on his feet, tries
to get some momentum going, but unable to get anything going.
Speaker 6 (02:29:31):
Block nobody now lost the yard?
Speaker 2 (02:29:33):
Can anybody second down in ten coming up here for
the Bulldog second and eleven lost the yard.
Speaker 6 (02:29:39):
Whipping us on that running game.
Speaker 2 (02:29:42):
Come on, guys, eight forty six left here in this
ball game and be a second and eleven here for
Opalaika Dogs with their own thirty nine yard line. Here's
Jalen going in motion from right to left. Play action
Kobe rolls to his right, looking down, feel floats one.
Speaker 3 (02:30:03):
Blake Johnson.
Speaker 2 (02:30:04):
There, Blake Johnson comes down with it, and boy, that
did not look good on his leg. It bent one
way and it came back and Johnson is down. Boy,
I hope this big boy is okay. He went and planted,
came back for it and looked like a leg went
one way. And I don't want to speculate, but hopefully
(02:30:25):
Blake Johnson's okay. Well, he's gonna hop right back up.
Good sign there the hammer with a huge reception to
come back for that one to the forty four yard line.
Speaker 3 (02:30:39):
Forty three yard.
Speaker 2 (02:30:40):
Line, eighteen yard pickup, an elaborate transfer in storage, first down.
Speaker 3 (02:30:45):
Dogs needed that one. Eight twenty one.
Speaker 2 (02:30:48):
The clock continues to run after an injury time out.
Kobe out of the shotgun. He's got to wind out either.
Sign now, Jalen Washington in motion from left to right,
and all this time goes to C J.
Speaker 3 (02:31:01):
Johnson. CJ.
Speaker 2 (02:31:02):
Nice job, spinning to the left and gets down to
the thirty nine yard line for four yards under eight
minutes down to play in a nineteen to twenty ball game.
Benjamin Russell leading this one by one. Here at Bulldog
Stadium reminder coming up tonight Encore Rehabilitation High School Scoreboard show.
It's gonna be a late start for them tonight. Check
(02:31:25):
it down in six Kolbe checks the sidelines. Now changes
his play here on a second and six and at
the thirty nine and then Russell high stamp gets it
to c J.
Speaker 3 (02:31:35):
Johnson left side. CJ.
Speaker 2 (02:31:36):
Good run there across the thirty five. CJ continuing to
push the pile down to the host of the thirty yard line.
They're gonna mark him down though at the thirty three.
It will be enough. It should be enough for a
first down. Well, it's like there, sure where they spotted
the ball down one judge has it Martin Well at
(02:32:00):
the thirty three. One hasn't marked at the thirty two.
Got to wait and get the spot here.
Speaker 8 (02:32:08):
Either way, it should be a first down.
Speaker 3 (02:32:15):
Trying those officials doing.
Speaker 6 (02:32:18):
It's a first down.
Speaker 2 (02:32:19):
Yeah, they got it to the thirty one yard line.
Now they will move the change, so eight yard pick
up there by c J. Johnson. The chains will move.
It's at the thirty one a first down pistol formation here.
Speaker 3 (02:32:34):
As Jordan Waits was behind Colby Key.
Speaker 2 (02:32:39):
Now we'll move to his right, coolbe changing his play
around at the line of scrimmage here first in ten
six fifty seven to play in the game Colby play action.
Koby drops up, steps up in the pocket across the middle,
throws Audrey Van's got it at the sixteen yard line,
first down, Bulldogs. That's a fifteen yard throwing strike in
a Lambert transfer in storage, first down, six forty six
(02:33:04):
o'clock running here in this fourth quarter, Dogs down by
one twenty to nineteen. But a couple of good passes
by Kolby Keith, good run by C. J. Johnson in
there as well. Here goes Jaalen Washington in motion from
right to left from the sixteen yard line. Jordan Waits
gets it, runs right side Jordan down close to the
eleven yard line. They'll mark him down at the eleven.
That's a five yard pickup. Starting to lean a little bit,
(02:33:27):
coach McCracken, or maybe a tired defense maybe from Benjamin
Russell here to.
Speaker 8 (02:33:31):
Take something that big play right out there at the
forty yard line that your big boy made.
Speaker 2 (02:33:38):
Huge, Yes, sir, it was sack it down in six
here for the Bulldogs at the eleven of Benjamin Russell.
They'll go back to Wait's right side this time. Good
job there by the defense to bottle him up. He'll
get down to the nine yard line. So he did
pick up two yards, so this will set up a
third down and right at third and three there for
(02:34:01):
limping ethan oiola, Yeah, a little hobbled coming in the
ballgame at tight end, third down and three under five
thirty eight to go here in the ballgame, a one
point game, Benjam Russell twenty oero like a nineteen. It
will be an I formation here Jordan Waits and C. J. Johnson,
(02:34:24):
and the handoff goes two weeks left side Waits inside
the five down to the three yard line.
Speaker 3 (02:34:29):
First in gold Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (02:34:30):
Another Lambert transferring storage first down with five twenty two
to go in the game. All right now the Bulldog's
run game is finally we've been able to chip away
this this.
Speaker 6 (02:34:42):
Seventy yard drive right here, big boy.
Speaker 2 (02:34:46):
Godly, let's punch this thing in at a time out
on the field. This will be an official heat timeout
and we will step aside and take one as well.
Five point fifteen to go, first and goal Bulldogs at
the three here in the one point game, Benjamin Russell
twenty opa linea nineteen back after this here on the kicker.
Speaker 3 (02:35:12):
Back here Bulldog Stadium.
Speaker 2 (02:35:13):
We got five minutes and fifteen seconds left in this one,
a one point game, Benjamin Russell leading by one, twenty
to nineteen.
Speaker 3 (02:35:19):
But the Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (02:35:22):
All right at the goal line, first down and goal
at the three, and Blake Johnson is back in the
ball game, so that is good to see. He's at
the full back position. C. J. Johnson is the tailback.
Kolby Key will go under center here on first and
goal from the three, Johnson gets it right side. Johnson
right at the goal line. Gonna be stopped at the one. Boy,
(02:35:43):
you don't see that much. And Blake is gonna be
stop shy of the goal line. That'll run some more
clock off though. Under five minutes to go, it'll be
second and goal at the one. And right now you
pretty much know sneak. You know who's gonna get this one. Well,
the hammer one thing you gotta be careful of, coach.
(02:36:05):
The tush pushes against the rules in high school. So
if you do go quarterback sneak, you can't get up
and help him. Colby under center gets the snap hands
of the Johnson left side.
Speaker 3 (02:36:14):
Johnson in and dives towards the end zone.
Speaker 2 (02:36:16):
Touchdown Bulldogs Hammer time twenty five twenty and you gotta
look for the Bulldogs and go for two here to
make this a seven point ball game here with four
thirty five left.
Speaker 8 (02:36:28):
Yeah, but if you don't hate, if you don't make
this they if they score, they beat us.
Speaker 6 (02:36:35):
You see, if we can.
Speaker 8 (02:36:36):
If we if we kick the extra point, we have
to make them make a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (02:36:42):
That is true, I mean right, yeah, I mean it'd
be a six point ball game if you kick the
extra point. But basically an extra point is gonna beat
you either way. So if you'd get if you go
for two here, they score and kick the extra point,
it's a tie game.
Speaker 6 (02:36:55):
So it's think either way, they have to score a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (02:36:58):
Yeah, I think it's gonna be I thank you pretty much.
Got to go for two here, like man I formation.
Look here, Blake Johnson the full back. CJ. Johnson is
the running back, and Kobe rolls right, gonna throw and
it is tip to knock away incomplete trying to get
in the back of the end zone, and that we're
trying to get the tight end ethan Oiola and it's incomplete,
(02:37:20):
so it'll stay a five point ball game. So a
touchdown by Benjamin Russell would put the put the Wildcats up.
But right now, twenty five twenty is our score, four
to thirty five remaining that scorre and drive power boapal
like the Power Services hometown people working for you. Let's
go defense, Dogs up by five a four thirty five
to go. We're back after this here on the kicker.
(02:37:46):
Five point ball game here at Bulldog Stadium. Four thirty
five left in our ball game. A big drive there
by the offense cap jo off with a Blake Johnson
goal line run. And now let's see if Reese Besley
can pump this joker in the end zone here with
four thirty five left. Defense, he's to come up with
a big stop. Here is a is a tired Benjamin
Russell defense, and you'd love to put them back on
(02:38:08):
the field as soon as possible.
Speaker 3 (02:38:10):
Good kick there by Reese Beasley. It sails into the end.
Speaker 2 (02:38:13):
Zone and Mack McCracken down on the field with the
four seasons Federal Credit Union sideline report.
Speaker 3 (02:38:18):
What you got, Mac?
Speaker 10 (02:38:19):
Yeah, that was a big score right there. Try to
hit the old tight end didn't work. But hey, it's
like you said, Van. If they either way, you know
they got to score a touchdown, right, So Buck, you
fire them up down there, boy, I tell them nothing.
It's for you know, four thirty five. They know what
they gotta do. You know, your defense has got to
win this ball game. Now, the offense went down there scored,
(02:38:41):
so you got to put it all on your defense,
and you got to just hope something.
Speaker 4 (02:38:45):
Happens for the dogs.
Speaker 2 (02:38:46):
He set's working, mac rocking and roll them back. All right,
there you go first and ten. Here is Benjamin Russell's
offense back out on the field. Very dangerous, very potent,
lots of weapons. Kingston pre year out of the shot,
and they hand the ball off to the tailback and
he stopped right at the line of scrimmage. Good job
there by the defense coming up and making the stop
to res Thomas. The defensive end comes in there and
(02:39:08):
makes a nice stop. He's a junior. Good job, Good job, Trees.
Speaker 8 (02:39:12):
Well, I don't know how he picked up three yards
to Rez Thomas junior. Is that that's what you said,
wasn't it, Yes, sir, Yeah, that's what that lady told
me today.
Speaker 6 (02:39:20):
That is junior coaching. Parents like you to call him
junior if it's a.
Speaker 2 (02:39:24):
Junior bro they give him the twenty three yard line.
He picked up three yards.
Speaker 6 (02:39:28):
They didn't make that many.
Speaker 3 (02:39:29):
B sure didn't look like it. Trips to the right side.
Speaker 2 (02:39:33):
Per Year out of the shotgun here on second down
and seven, hands the ball off this time to Harold
left side, and Harold churning his way up close to
the twenty eight yard line. That was a good run
there for him, up close to five yards. It'll set
up a third down and two for Benjamin Russell. Oh,
you'd love a naked to play right here. With three
forty two left in the game. I would not be
(02:39:57):
shocked if they took a shot here on third and
two and go for it on.
Speaker 8 (02:40:04):
Fourth down, they're gonna run the ball, trips to the
right side.
Speaker 2 (02:40:10):
Per Year hands the ball off straight up the middle,
and they do get the first down run.
Speaker 3 (02:40:14):
That's the best run of the night.
Speaker 2 (02:40:15):
Harol's still running and Harold pushing the pile up to
the forty five yard.
Speaker 3 (02:40:19):
Line, and he's carrying the whole team downfield.
Speaker 2 (02:40:23):
They're gonna mark him down at midfield and the entire
Benjamin Russell's sideline comes unglued for the effort of Joshua
Harrol on that run, and that was an unbelievable effort
by that young man.
Speaker 3 (02:40:39):
Three ten to.
Speaker 2 (02:40:39):
Play, he called time out. Could be the game winning
drive here, you call time out down to the forty
eight yard line of Oplanka pre Year throws here near
side and it hit the turf. It's incomplete, and it'll
be second down in ten. Two point fifty two left.
It'll be second and ten. The clock stopped on that
(02:41:01):
incomplete pass that was intended here on the near side
for bj bedgood twenty five twenty Opal like up by five.
We got two fifty left here in the ball game,
and Benjamin Russell on the move thanks to a big
run there by Joshua Harrold a new running back here
to the program at Benjamin Russell second down in ten
(02:41:27):
at the Opal like a forty eight we'll fake him
quarterback just dodged the Bullock, takes off down the sidelines
and he runs out of anands for a first down
at around the thirty eight yard line. Well, he just
missed getting sacked. Coming in and applying the pressure was
Isaiah Gray almost got to him, but it'll be a
(02:41:48):
first down for the Wildcats. We were two forty three
to go as he was able to scramble down to
the thirty seven yard line for an eleven yard pickup.
I think that's the best the best run the quarterbacks
had tonight herein side the Orthopedic Clinic broadcast booth, hoping
we see a big stop here by the defense. Five
(02:42:10):
point game. Right now, pre yor the quarterback out of
the shotgun. He's got two white outs right, single receiver
to the left side. Pree Year drops back. Now you'll
roll here near side on the run, gonna take off
and run and he's gonna be hit sliding down at
the twenty six yard line. They'll mark him down at
the twenty seven where the slide started, and it's gonna
(02:42:32):
be good for close to ten yards and it will
be enough for a first down. Norman Matthews is down
on the field for the Bulldogs, so we do have
an injury time out right now. Benjamin Russell not much
through the air, but they've got the ground game going
as they try to get down in position to try
to put it in the end zone and get the
lead here late in this game with two twenty eight
(02:42:53):
to go. We'll be right back after this time out.
You're listening to Bulldog football here on the kicker. We're
back here on the field as Norman Matthews, the injured
Bulldog does come up and is sitting upright, which is
good to see, but concerning injury down there on the
(02:43:16):
field there for the Openalaka Bulldogs here with two twenty
eight left in this ballgame, in a twenty five to
twenty game right now. Certainly hope that young man is okay.
He comes up to his feet and I having trouble
putting weight on that knee, which is not good to see.
(02:43:41):
Wish him the best, but he is coming off the
field very gingerly on that one leg. So Matthews comes
out frustration. Now on that defensive side, they let some
run plays really open up things, and then that kind
(02:44:04):
of lulls you to sleep a little bit, coach, and
you worry about the big pass play coming yep, first
down and ten for Benjamin Russell at the opal like
a twenty eight yard line. Out of the time out.
Now back ready for play here just two twenty six
and the clock starts on the whistle and to twenty one,
(02:44:26):
as coach called it. There we got in a procedure
penalty against Benjamin Russell.
Speaker 3 (02:44:31):
Coach, you made me move.
Speaker 8 (02:44:32):
I knew that couldn't be this perfect coming down the field.
Speaker 2 (02:44:37):
Had to have something in there, and it's a five
yard penalty and it backs things up to the thirty
three yard line. It'll be first and fifteen. Boy, we'd
love to get that interception. Boy, we had one in
our hands earlier that was dropped. And you'd love to
see the sophomore quarterback make a mistake here. He's been
(02:44:57):
pretty good tonight. Kingston Prior, number one player in the
class of twenty twenty eight in the country, trips receivers
to the left side.
Speaker 3 (02:45:04):
Handoff into that in the backfield.
Speaker 2 (02:45:07):
What a play by Terresst Thomas, number eight. Joshua Harrold
got the handoff and he was met by mister Thomas
in the backfield.
Speaker 3 (02:45:17):
What a read and what a play.
Speaker 6 (02:45:19):
How many timeouts had got left?
Speaker 2 (02:45:21):
One bitch Brussel, one time out, three timeouts for Palaika
one forty seven. The client winding down then backs him
up to the forty yard line. That was a loss
of twelve. Now the Bulldog crowd on the feet one
thirty seven left and it will be second down in
(02:45:42):
twenty two. Make a mistake offense prior out of the
shotgun with three receivers of the left side, they try
to set up a screen pass. Here's Bed Good and
he's gonna be read nicely in a nice stop there
Leakedrick Burkes was there, and then the dogs came to
the sw Caden Harris and company. And it will be
(02:46:04):
third down coming up, and the clock stops with one
sixteen as we've got a time out on the field
as a flag down, actually a fly there's a flag
down at the thirty six yard line. One thing I
could think of that had to be a hole baby
on the offense there setting up a screen, but we'll
(02:46:25):
wait to see.
Speaker 3 (02:46:27):
I'm quite sure what it could have been on the
defense over there.
Speaker 2 (02:46:32):
Officials are huddled up here and coach more is over
talking to the official here on this side.
Speaker 3 (02:46:40):
But if anything, you're giving.
Speaker 2 (02:46:43):
Benjamin Russell a free time out here to think over
their next play. A face mask against the defense. Oh
of course we're a mile away from where it occurred,
so I'm not sure that a personal foul or a
five yard is what the question's gonna be personal foul
(02:47:07):
face mask. That's gonna be a fifteen yard penalty, and
it won't be an automatic first town A boy, what
a what a present that will be. It's gonna be
an replay the down too. It'll be second down and nine.
Now what a play inside the thirty down around the
(02:47:30):
twenty eight yard line. After that penalty, pre Year drops back,
steps up, hint down at the twenty six yard line.
Speaker 3 (02:47:36):
It will be third down.
Speaker 2 (02:47:37):
Isaiah Gray back in there for another big stop and
they'll say he only picked up a yard to the
twenty seven yard line. Third down and nine coming up
here for the Wildcats. Just forty three seconds. The clock
continues to run here under forty to go, and now
(02:47:57):
a whistle.
Speaker 3 (02:47:58):
Coach More.
Speaker 2 (02:48:01):
Calls a time out, wants to make sure his defense
is set right. Just thirty eight seconds left in the game. Now, boy,
the clock has really wound down, and this is gonna
come down to Benjamin Russell winning or losing on this drive.
Speaker 3 (02:48:13):
Here they trailed by five, twenty five to twenty.
Speaker 7 (02:48:15):
They still have a time out left a face mask.
Speaker 3 (02:48:21):
Yeah, that was a big one.
Speaker 2 (02:48:22):
And for a personal foul, coach, you gotta imagine it
had to be obvious for them to upgrade it to
a personal foul. I didn't see it, of course, it
was on the other side of the field. I'm sure
the Benjamin Russell's sideline helped him zero in on that one.
But thirty eight seconds left here, five point game, Opelika
leading twenty five to twenty. But Benjamin Russell with a
(02:48:43):
couple more downs to go, possibly more, but times starting
to wind down for them.
Speaker 3 (02:48:47):
They've got one time out left.
Speaker 2 (02:48:49):
Opelaikah with two timeouts, tramining student section for o Palaika
all up on the fence, big crowd from Benjamin Russell,
stay and put, hoping that they can pick up a
big win on the road. At the twenty seven of
op Alike out of the time out, it'll be third
down and nine, two wide outs either side for Benjamin Russell.
(02:49:15):
Sadarian Morgan wide to the left near the sidelines. Kingston Prior,
the sophomore quarterback, gets the snap, drops back, here comes
the pressure, steps up in the pocket. Now he'll throw
towards the end zone. It's gonna be a jump ball,
knocked down, no flag and knock down, fourth down and
the ball game coming up here for Benjamin Russell. It'll
(02:49:37):
be fourth down and nine with thirty seven seconds left.
That was great coverage there by the Bulldogs on the
big man, Sadarian Morgan, and now he's hoping for a flag.
He was looking around hoping for a flag. It's almost
like he's expecting one.
Speaker 3 (02:49:51):
Now.
Speaker 2 (02:49:54):
Fourth down in the game coming up here for the Bulldogs,
and we'll see if Benjamin Russell tries to take their
final time out here. Kirk Johnson only lost two games
in his coaching career. This one is hanging in the
balance right now. They're down by five. Here's the ballgame.
Prey or drops back flag on the play. It's gonna
(02:50:16):
be a procedure penalty against Benjamin Russell.
Speaker 3 (02:50:19):
They'll move them back five yards.
Speaker 7 (02:50:24):
Coach, I bet they take the time out here.
Speaker 2 (02:50:28):
You would think they probably will. Do you go for
the end zone here, coach? Or do you go for
the first down? If you're Benjamin Russell first down because
of the big guy.
Speaker 7 (02:50:38):
I just think.
Speaker 6 (02:50:40):
That's what I would do.
Speaker 2 (02:50:42):
Yeah, they gotta watch the quarterback scrambling around. Sadarian Morgan
and Braden Howard are paired up together on that far
side of the field. That's the matchup. Everybody's watching. Two
white outs either side fourth and the game. Preyer drops back,
steps up in the pockets, sip.
Speaker 6 (02:50:57):
The Betty four yard line.
Speaker 2 (02:50:59):
That'll do it, baby ball game, Tremaine Thomas, Baby TJ saxeedon.
Speaker 3 (02:51:11):
Twenty five twenty.
Speaker 11 (02:51:12):
Turnover on downs, turnover on downs, take a knee, victory formation.
Baby TJ comes through.
Speaker 2 (02:51:25):
And sacks Prier and let's take a knee and celebrate
on the parkway.
Speaker 3 (02:51:33):
Whoa, what a game? What a game?
Speaker 2 (02:51:40):
It has not been pretty. And boy, Blake Johnson is
limping out onto the field. I think he's probably cramping.
And the Bulldogs are going to drop down and take
a knee. And boy, you look at a turnover in
the second half. That's really what led to the one
score Benjamin Russell had in the second half. What a
great job by this defense of Opalaika. A tough test tonight.
(02:52:05):
Kolbe drops down, takes a knee, Benjamin Russell will use
their final time out.
Speaker 3 (02:52:13):
I think did they call it? I think they did.
Speaker 6 (02:52:16):
No, they didn't. Nope.
Speaker 2 (02:52:21):
Down to six, down to five, down to four, and
that will beat the ball game.
Speaker 3 (02:52:29):
It sure wasn't easy tonight. Folks.
Speaker 2 (02:52:31):
But the Bulldogs picked up the week zero win tonight
here at home twenty five to twenty over the Benjamin
Russell Wildcats. And now the students starting to pour on
the field and celebrating with the Bulldogs. We got a
lot to cover here in the postgame show and a
hard funk, gutsy win. And you certainly got to tip
(02:52:52):
your cap to that Benjamin Russell squad. That's a six
A football program that is much in Peru with some
big additions, and coach Kirk Johnson falls for just the
third time in his coaching career and his overall coaching
record goes to fifty five and three. Coach Brian Moore,
we'll attack another one up. He's at win number ninety
six now as a head coach, and we'll.
Speaker 3 (02:53:13):
Be right back.
Speaker 2 (02:53:14):
Post game show comes your way. Next Bulldog's a winner
twenty five twenty And you're listening to Bulldog football here
on the kicker. Ah, we're celebrating in the booth tonight.
Speaker 3 (02:53:36):
I want to win. Coach McCracken, how about that.
Speaker 8 (02:53:39):
One coach has been celebrating.
Speaker 2 (02:53:48):
What do you think, Coach McCracken, Dogs win it twenty
five twenty the post show rolls on the Dogs have
won it over Benjamin Russell. All the hard fought, gutsy
game tonight. And I tell you, coach that one was
a was a tough one on both sides tonight.
Speaker 3 (02:54:01):
But boy, opal like it.
Speaker 2 (02:54:02):
You're right to really you go back, coach, anytime you
don't win pretty, you can go back to the drawing board.
And it's a little easier to work on, you know,
this week for coach Brian.
Speaker 3 (02:54:11):
And those guys that have to go back.
Speaker 2 (02:54:13):
And we'll talk to him coming up here at the
post game show, but a light to improve on. You're
gonna play some teams that are a lot better than
this Benja and Russell team, and that's no disrespect to them,
but you know, Central and Auburn's on the schedule, and
this callaway team we play next week, one of the
best teams in Georgia.
Speaker 3 (02:54:28):
Yeah, and that was not the same callaway team we
normally play. Last year. They had a lot of players out.
Speaker 2 (02:54:35):
They went on the road and played a team that
had played for five consecutive state championships.
Speaker 3 (02:54:40):
And went toe to toe with them last week.
Speaker 2 (02:54:41):
So they're gonna be ready we go to their place
We're gonna play much better football and to win next
week too.
Speaker 6 (02:54:46):
You know the second half, you know, you know, they shut.
Speaker 8 (02:54:50):
Us out in the third quarter, and then our defense
got the ball back fors and then we scored and
both sides of the ball band with six minutes and
less than six minutes to go in the game, really
showed up and played, oh PLI like a football big plays.
Speaker 2 (02:55:13):
All right, we're in the postgame show. It has brought
to you by our friends at Jeff Coach Trent funeral home.
And coming up on the way, we're gonna, of course
have coach Brian Moore coming up here in just a bit.
We'll of course recap this crazy finish here inside Bulldog Stadium.
Jason Lee's got some pretty interesting stats we'll run down
as well. But twenty five twenty our final score here
Bulldog Stadium. Opelaka pulls off a heck of a game,
a big defensive stand at the end of the game
(02:55:35):
to keep the Benjamin Russell Wildcats out of the end
zone and secure victory here tonight at Bulldog Stadium. You're listen, Nope,
like a Bulldog football Here on the kicker, We're back
with more after this.
Speaker 3 (02:55:52):
Flight outs either side.
Speaker 2 (02:55:53):
Fourth in the game, preer drops fast stimps up in
the pockets side.
Speaker 5 (02:55:59):
Down.
Speaker 6 (02:56:00):
Maybe by game something.
Speaker 8 (02:56:02):
Timas did to DJ sack scene.
Speaker 2 (02:56:08):
I appreciate Jay Stern always looking out and recording those
great calls from the comfort of his residence there beautiful
Lake Martin and uh boy, Coach McCracken, that was a
that was a heck of a finish there. Tremaine Thomas
comes up with a big sack there at the end
and the Bulldogs hang on and win at twenty five
to twenty tonight. Dogs start out the season one to zero.
It was certainly not easy. And these are so many
(02:56:28):
unknowns in Week one games, and we were sitting there
debating back and forth all week how we thought this
game would go. I thought the Bulldogs would really control
the line of scrimmage a lot better than they did tonight.
I know that's something coach more will work on and
they're gonna have to figure out because you're gonna have
to play better on the line of scrimmage to win
some of our games coming up on the schedule. But coach, defensively,
(02:56:48):
we need that we're gonna get some points. And you
really if you minus one interception. You really don't think
Benjamin Russell probably scores that third time, but on that
last drive, Benjamin Russell didn't really do it through the
Jason was looking at some statistics and I think in
the second half passing the football, Benjamin Russell only had
thirty four yards passing and in the first half they
(02:57:10):
had over two hundred. So quiet, So credit coach massive
that defense for the adjustments that they made in the
second half.
Speaker 8 (02:57:17):
They had thrown at number one in the second half,
but what twice?
Speaker 2 (02:57:21):
Yeah, yeah, and he got a you know, got the
one penalty and they got the big face mask. Really
kept that drive going and kept him alive. But sloppy game.
There was a lot of penalties on both sides. I
know we had the equipment issues, a lot of false
starts procedure penalties. I know Kirk Johnson and Benjamin Russell
will go back and pull their hair out watching the
film seeing how many times they jumped on false starts.
(02:57:43):
O Plaka had a lot of those miscues as well.
But you can just see Kirk Johnson how good of
a coach he is. I mean, he comes into this
Benjamin Russell team a lot of kids follow him to
the school. I mean, you've got to be a great
coach for people to follow you to a school. And
of course they had a great wide receiver that was
there already of Benjamin Russell. But that quarterback he's got
(02:58:03):
in Kingston prior that came with him from Montgomery Catholic, boy,
he is a really really good quarterback. And Matt McCracken
heading this way now with coach More, they're gonna come
on up here to the booth, so we'll have him
joining us here momentarily. But coach, I think there was
a lot of good plays in that game. Hard to
zero win on one Tremaine Thomas of course that big
one there at the end.
Speaker 8 (02:58:23):
But well, the thing that happened bad to us didn't
come back to haun us when when Kobe threw that
interception down there on the fourteen and they and you know,
and they scored off that one. But then we came
back in that drive and that I'm gonna tell you something.
That catch when I call him your boy, because you
(02:58:45):
call him, uh.
Speaker 7 (02:58:47):
What's it, what's that name?
Speaker 6 (02:58:49):
Train?
Speaker 8 (02:58:50):
Big Johnson caught right there at the forty two yard
line and he hurt his leg that catch right there
was huge, I mean.
Speaker 3 (02:59:00):
Huge, oh yeah itself.
Speaker 6 (02:59:03):
Yeah, and then he got back up.
Speaker 8 (02:59:05):
He didn't come back in that series till the end
of the series.
Speaker 6 (02:59:09):
And then we scored the touchdown.
Speaker 8 (02:59:11):
So it was a great, great comeback after we were
down twenty to nineteen, and you know when we scored
and it went twenty five twenty. You know, I got
to thinking what you said about go for two and
that you'd still but you know, you were right, they
(02:59:31):
would still have you and Jason were right, they would
still have to score the touchdown to beat us.
Speaker 2 (02:59:37):
Oh yeah, absolutely. So anyway, all right, we'll take quick break.
Coach Moore is going to join us here in just
a bit and we'll talk to him and celebrate this
one here. We'll continue here twenty five twenty more after
this here on the kitchen. Welcome back here inside Bulldeye Stadium,
(02:59:58):
Van Rings alongside coach Pitch mccrack and Mike McCracken has
been running the sidelines tonight, Jason Lear, engineer. We're joined
up now by the head coach of the opal likea Bulldogs.
We got coach Brian More with us and coach we
We I was just talking before you got up here.
You know, when these Week one games and we talked
about it a lot this week. You just don't know
what to expect from either team. You don't know how
these games will go. You don't know how your team
(03:00:20):
will react. I kind of thought coming into the game tonight,
we were really gonna dominate the line of scrimmage, run
the ball at will. It's kind of the opposite of that.
We had to really muster some things up, get really creative.
It was tough against them tonight running the ball, and
even they were good defensively tonight. That was really impressed
with them defensively, that was my big takeaway.
Speaker 4 (03:00:36):
They were They played extremely hard.
Speaker 5 (03:00:38):
You know, that's you know, and I'm gonna ask for
some advice from coach here. You know, these are you
don't want to be down about winning. You know, you
don't want to You never want to do that because
you could be on the other side of this thing tonight.
But we did not play well in the game. I mean,
you know, I'm proud for our kids that we found
a way. Now, we did drive the ball eighty yards
to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, So
(03:00:59):
that that that is that is that is there are
things that we can take from this game. But I
just didn't think we played well up up front offensively.
I thought we were a little bit ragged defensively up
front out of some fits a couple of times I'm
working with the ends, we didn't do a very good job.
But you know, finally we hit the quarterback Terrees hit
(03:01:20):
him for the negative play with some massive play in
the game right there on a call that we had
been making.
Speaker 4 (03:01:25):
All night at them.
Speaker 5 (03:01:25):
I thought Adam had it pegged and we just didn't
run it right. So just so much of the game,
we missed two pats that we didn't miss any any
last year.
Speaker 8 (03:01:34):
None.
Speaker 5 (03:01:35):
We put the ball in around four times in the
first half. You know, we gave up some chunk plays
where we just we had an opportunity to knock him
off the screen and kid takes it eighty yards early,
and and I don't know, I just we've got to
clean up some things.
Speaker 4 (03:01:49):
We're pretty beat up, to be honestly.
Speaker 5 (03:01:51):
We took some shots tonight, and I mean their kids
did too, and it was a physical football game.
Speaker 4 (03:01:56):
But again, I'm proud of the resilience of our team.
Speaker 5 (03:01:58):
But we've got to clean up and play better, especially
as we head towards Region play.
Speaker 2 (03:02:01):
A couple of things coach that I you know, a
lot of people probably won't talk about when they leave
here that I noticed tonight. Audrey Van goes and catches
that punt over his shoulder. If he lets that go.
We're starting at the ten, you're starting at the forty.
And then there was the play where we punt it
to Bed Good, one of their best wide receivers, and
Cam Railey's down there to make the tackle after he's
after he snapped it.
Speaker 3 (03:02:22):
How quick he got down fee He's.
Speaker 5 (03:02:23):
A great athlete, Cam is and really proud of him.
And Jamael was in on that play too.
Speaker 4 (03:02:28):
You're right, man. I mean again, there were spurts of
really good football.
Speaker 5 (03:02:31):
That I'm excited about. We just got to we got
we got to play better more, you know, more consistently,
and we will, you know, our our coaches will come
back to where we got a short week, as we know,
and we don't want to get ahead yet. But but
I am proud of the win. That's a good team
and you knew they were excited about their new coach,
and obviously that guy hadn't lost since twenty two or.
Speaker 2 (03:02:51):
You see that crowd, you know, goodness, I haven't seen
a crown that's an Auburn crowd right right.
Speaker 4 (03:02:56):
It was fantastic.
Speaker 5 (03:02:56):
I mean they were down here past the jumbo trying
trying to get in. So again, it was a it
was a good night for us. It's been a rivalry
that's been a tough game. I can remember winning on
fourteen to seven or lose. You know, it's been it's
been back and forth. We played him all those years.
Coach for cracking when you were here as well.
Speaker 3 (03:03:14):
And how do you coach?
Speaker 2 (03:03:15):
What do you tell your quarterback when he makes a
mistake like that? But he comes out there and like
you said, you come out and you get the eight
r drive to win the game. That just shows how
quickly he can put that behind him, because that's tough
to come back from. I mean that was that was
one of those where you could hang your head and
go over the sidelines and lose the game.
Speaker 5 (03:03:32):
Well, we talk about trends and outliers, and you know
that's that's one of those things for Kolbe that there's
been such a positive trend over the last eight months
for him. So my answer Van is. It's a body
of work. I mean, it's a body of work of
Carson Daniel and j D Atkins and me getting involved
with him a little bit too, and just trying to,
you know, prep him for those moments.
Speaker 4 (03:03:50):
Man, those are going to happen again.
Speaker 5 (03:03:52):
Like he wish he had it back just as bad
as anybody. When he let that ball go, he knew
that kid was gonna pick that ball off, and he
was trying to make a play on third down. We
had become staggered in the third quarter and he was
trying to make a play, and so he'll learn from that.
But I'm proud of the body of work from Kobe
that he was able to bounce back. But again, it
was an outlier, not the trend. The trend line as
Kobe's continuing to grow. You saw some real growth tonight
(03:04:13):
with him, and I'm just really proud of him and
proud of the response.
Speaker 3 (03:04:16):
To this team.
Speaker 2 (03:04:17):
You play next week, coach, hadn't played since a week
from Wednesday. I mean, they've had so much time to
get ready. They're going to be so fresh, so ready
to go. It's gonna be a big game at home
for them. You got to flip the script quick and
get ready for Callaway. It's a Thursday game and it's
a short week too for you.
Speaker 5 (03:04:32):
Yeah, and especially, like I said, as physical as this
game was, I didn't know if this game tonight would
be as physical because I thought they'd throw it around
the yard all night, you know, and a lot of times,
you know, if you're not banging on those runs and
spilling counter and all that kind of stuff's not quite
as physical. But it turned into that type of ball game,
especially late where they were trying to they got us
a little bit tired on D line and punch one
in there running it and had a little bit of
(03:04:53):
success late. But you're right, I mean, we're gonna have
to get ready for Calloway. They'll be extremely fresh.
Speaker 4 (03:04:57):
They played a couple of times at least.
Speaker 5 (03:04:59):
With the Georgia rules and all the scrimmages and things
that they've been able to do and the padded stuff
in the summer, so you know, they're probably a little
bit ahead of us. But we'll have to rally and
go play well. But our kids will raise up for
that too, and we'll travel extremely well there to Callaway
and we'll be excited about that.
Speaker 6 (03:05:15):
Ryan coach Massey, I don't know what he did. I'm
sure he went through you to do it. But number one.
Speaker 8 (03:05:22):
Caught two passes for thirty seven yards in the second half.
Speaker 7 (03:05:27):
That was it.
Speaker 6 (03:05:30):
When you told me that, that amazed me.
Speaker 3 (03:05:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (03:05:32):
And the quarterback was doing a lot more, you know,
you told you just said, hey, we're gonna rush six,
We're gonna rush five or six on him every time.
The first time they had the ball on that third
down when number one caught the ball.
Speaker 6 (03:05:46):
Didn't but three people rush.
Speaker 8 (03:05:48):
I don't know why that happened, but they just they
didn't rush. And I said, ol' brien's fixing to kill
somebody because they didn't put no pressure on the quarterback
that time. And he caught that ball, went exact, went
all the way to touchdown. But anywhere I thought that
at that was really big. Not letting him get involved.
That what your second dary did. Did you double cover
(03:06:10):
him a little bit?
Speaker 4 (03:06:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (03:06:11):
And we had been playing the safety over him, you know,
rolling covers to him, which everybody's gonna do. And I'm
so thankful we do not have to prep for that
big sucker again. God he can go ahead and go
on to Alabama.
Speaker 4 (03:06:21):
About six. He is a really, really special player.
Speaker 5 (03:06:24):
The play of the game though, for me, was the
box out by Braden Howard down there in the corner.
You know that that's the only way it's like rebounding
literally by basketball. If you don't have that guy on
your bite, he's going to go up over you and
get it. And so Braiden boxed him all the way
we call it. Mike talks about cutting off routes all
the time and not letting those guys run vertical, and
I thought that he did a fantastic job on that
(03:06:45):
play with no safety help right there and box that
kid out to put it in maybe third or fourth down,
I don't remember, but it was a big situation in
the game and seeing you know that that'll be a
huge confidence.
Speaker 4 (03:06:54):
Thing for Braiden.
Speaker 8 (03:06:55):
And did you think the other one was past interference
that they called.
Speaker 4 (03:06:58):
I really didn't.
Speaker 5 (03:06:59):
I thought he had him on his back and our
safety either picked it or had a chance at it.
Speaker 4 (03:07:03):
Xavier was over the top of it.
Speaker 2 (03:07:04):
I had some people tell me they had a better view,
I guess on the watching it on the NFHES. They
said they thought it was more him grabbing than it
was us.
Speaker 5 (03:07:11):
Mike on the headset was yelling this offensive. Yeah, and
you just very seldom see it. You know, it's ten
percent of the time at best.
Speaker 2 (03:07:17):
So I think he got to where he was expecting
a call too, even on that Braiden play where he
boxed him out. I was kind of hoping to get
the call. But Coach, I know it's late already. It's
it's ten. Twist was a long, exhausting game.
Speaker 6 (03:07:27):
I know you got a lot of guys stay up
all night.
Speaker 4 (03:07:30):
Yeah I will. Yeah, there won't be a lot of
sleeping night, Coach.
Speaker 3 (03:07:33):
We appreciate the business. Thanks so much. Congratulations on this
gues
