Now, let's head to the stadium for more coverage of
Opelaikah High School football alongside legendary Code Spence McCracken, Mac
McCracken and Jason Lee. Here's the voice of the Bulldogs,
Van Riggs Playoff Well.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Welcome to Bulldog Stadium for the final Friday night of
the regular season for the Opalaika Bulldogs. As a Dogs
host the Carver Wolverines and what is a high stakes
Region two showdown with major playoff implications. Both teams entering
Tonight's matchup at six and three overall, but it's the
region record that counts. Carver sits in four and two
while Opalaika is three and three. A win tonight, we
(01:32):
give the Bulldogs the head to head edge and lock
up the number three seed in the Class seven eight playoffs.
The loser will drop to the fourth seed and faces
a tougher road in the postseason for the Bulldogs. That
number four spot with the lost tonight not even a guarantee.
But hello, everybody, Welcome to Bulldog Stadium. Van Riggs losside
coach Spence McCracken. We got mc McCracken Roman our sidelines.
(01:52):
Jason Lee will be engineering and also spotting and hosting
our halftime here at Bulldog Stadium tonight, so you can
tell the importance of this one Tonight. Also looking to
bounce back after a rough two week road stretch, Bulldogs
fell to Enterprise and then to top ranked Central Phoenix City,
where the Bulldogs have been tough at home, a four
to one record here inside the friendly confines of Bulldogs Stadium,
and to get back on the track, the Dong defense
(02:14):
will need to tighten up against the run. Last week,
they surrendered three hundred and thirty rushing yards to Central
and the week before that, three hundred and forty six
to Enterprise. Carver Mountgomery, led by dynamic quarterback Zion Crumpton,
and is coming off a lopsided loss to the Auburn
High Tigers just down the road last week. But don't
let that fool you. This Wolverinees team one of the
(02:35):
most explosive offenses in Region two. Just a week before
the Auburn game, they lit up Central for thirty five
points and racked up two hundred and ninety eight rushing yards.
Tonight's game also a rematch of last year's thriller. Carver
erased a twenty eight to six deficit to stunople Lic
in the final game of the regular season in Crampton
Bowl last year forty four to thirty five. Despite that
comeback win, Carver still missed the playoffs. In a stack
(02:58):
Region two, Carver has guaranteed their playoffs spot already they're
either the three seed or the fourth seed. Opelika trying
to lock up a three seed with a win over
Carver Here tonight should be a fun one. Buckle up
and get ready, opake A Bulldog football is coming up
here from Bulldog Stadium. We come back. We'll here for
the Bulldog head coach coach Brian Moore. After this time
out here on the kicker.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Now it's time for a pregame visit with OPAA like
a head football coach Brian Moore, presented by South State Bank.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Now with coach, Here's Van Riggs final regular season home
game inside Bulldog Stadium. Tonight should be a great atmosphere,
big crowd already rolling in here. Coach talk about last week.
I know, I thought at times played really good against
Central and there was some things you can build on
off that game and you know, take away the final score,
but there was a lot of positives from your team.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
I thought there was.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
I mean, obviously we can't be okay with losing, and
it was a tough weekend and tough week.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
For our players.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
I did think we responded from the enterprise loss and
you know, had some.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Moments where we play a lot better play a lot harder.
Speaker 5 (03:59):
I thought the defensively, we had some moments where we
played good, and uh, it's.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Frustrating to not be in that game. You know.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
Obviously early the touchdown call back was really tough. That
kind of took some wind out of our sales. But again,
I like where our team is mentally. You know. Obviously,
losing two in a rows is unlike Opalaika and unlike
anything I've experienced. But our kids have bounced back and
had a great week of prep, you know, hoping to
play better on this senior night.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Tough test for your young quarterback. And you go against
that team in central thought Wit hung in. They're really good.
I know, you know, there's probably decisions here and there
he made incorrectly, but made some big passes to in
that game he did.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
I mean, you know, I thought, I thought Wit, you know,
played better than he did the week before. It's just
growing pains right now. But it's it's us around him too.
It's it's the way that we're coaching him. It's got
to be better. Uh.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
The level of the players around.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
Him have to be raised to be able to help him,
and we got to be able to run the ball. Effectively.
I didn't think we played great up front. You know,
obviously they had a lot to do with that. But
with a WIT's a warrior man, he stays in, he fights,
took some big shots from especially who's an elite player
for them, But with Cooper's a winner and he's going
to be a great player before this thing's over with.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Got to talk about c J.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Johnson. First time we've seen him play defense, and boy,
he made his impact felt immediately with that big sack
in the fumble.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
Yeah, I mean CJ. We challenged CJ.
Speaker 5 (05:15):
I didn't think he played great against Enterprise, and man,
he bounced back and played his best game, you know,
in a Bulldog uniform this past week.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Great to see him on defense. Coach Massy came to
me early in the week.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
And said, can we play him at some jack linebacker,
which is just kind of a walk down edge guy
defensive end hybrid body, and he's so special sudden, how
physical and tough he is. You know, he impacted the game,
huge strip sack that could have changed the momentum in
that game. But really proud to CJ and his response
after the Enterprise game.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Special teams wise, coach, you got two big field goals too.
I know we're key. Those were your points in the game.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
Yeah, I mean Reese is playing really, really well and
every touchbacks going through the back of the end zone,
I mean every kickoff, so he's really doing some good things.
He's drastically improved over a year ago. We've settled in
with our operation. We had an issue with early in
the season, but rees Be's is best kicker in Alabama
and he's just a junior. So we're excited about his
growth and and we're gonna use him. He's a weapon
(06:09):
and some alternate kicks as well, and some different things
that we can do. So we're excited about Reese. And
he's putting the ball well too, so he's doing a
lot for our team.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
All right. Defensively, coach, I know they had their hands full.
What do you what it was your kind of takeaway
from the from the game. Defensively, I mean, I thought
we tackled better. I mean, you know, they got some
guys in space. I mean, they have some elite skill guys.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
Obviously, as we saw, the running back is special, like
special special for them. But I thought, you know, we
got a we got a big three and out to
start the game. We struggled early. That was big to
see some growth there. Our kids were excited about that. Again,
we tackled better all the way across the board. Still
playing a lot of young guys, but some injection of
some veterans coming back this week with a Kedrick Bert's
(06:48):
being back and some other guys that can help us inside.
Josh Davis play four total snaps Friday night.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
So it'll be good for us to get.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
Some of our veteran guys back in the in the
mix and and you know, show that depth. You know,
now a lot of our tenth graders have played a
good bit and so it'll be nice to see those
guys rotating and keep guys fresh.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Pregame visit with the head coach, Brian Moore Opelika in
Carver Wolverine's coming up on the way Wove take a
quick time out come back with more of a coach
after this back here on the pregame show open like
getting ready take on the Carver Wolverines night inside Bulldog Stadium,
final regular season game for the Bulldogs and it's a
home one tonight here inside Bulldog Stadium. After a couple
of weeks away, coach, I know, it's just good to
(07:27):
get home and uh, and you've got this Carver team
coming in. How's the team bounce back from the from
the loss against Central and we can practice beend this week?
Speaker 5 (07:36):
I mean it first off, Yeah, it's it's super nice
to be here in Opelika.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
You know, here it's just so different.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
Man, walking out of your locker room and onto your field,
the field you practice on, in front of your crowd.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
There's a comfort there and I think you.
Speaker 5 (07:48):
Know, obviously are our home crowd and band make a
difference in the game.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
They have in several games this year so far.
Speaker 5 (07:54):
So you know, it's it's exciting to be back home
after two really tough weeks on the road, you know,
and we played well here. I mean, you know, really
the Pike Road game, in the Othing game, we played
our best two games. And you know, so getting back
here will be huge. I think the week's been good man.
I think you know, our kids again responded.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
They want to leave a legacy.
Speaker 5 (08:11):
I mean, you know, on our Sunday meeting, I put
a picture of every one of our seniors and just
reminded our players and coaches who were coaching and playing
for you know, this is this is their only time
to be seniors. You know they get one shot at
this thing, and you know they want to leave a legacy,
a mark on this program. And I fully expect us
to play our best game tonight and excited to see
our seniors on a big senior night.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
And I know, Coach will A win tonight, you would
secure another playoff berth in seven A you lose, you
could still get in, but you want to control what
you can control and pick up a win. And I
know we've talked about it. You know there's a way
this team can roll right into the state championship game.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
I mean, I think you know there's a first off,
Like I mean, even if you look at the Central game,
you know we we've got a chance to be that level.
I mean, we got to put a lot together and
you have to play really well, but there are moments
that we were toe to toe with what I think
is the best team in Alabama. I think it's hands
on the best team in Central. And so you're right, man,
I mean, if you secure a playoff spot tonight, you've
got an opportunity to go through a bye week and
(09:06):
heal up even more again, we're healthier than we've been
since the Auburn game in Week three, and you.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Know, I'm excited to see what this team could be.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Like I've said all year, I just don't think we've
played that game yet, you know. I think last year,
you know, with some of our veterans, man, we had
some good moments, some big time games where we really
really played well in the game, you know, and dominate
our opponent like Enterprise in Central last year. We haven't
found that game yet and we're still hunting for it
and that's what's exciting. The ceiling's really high for this team,
and I think the best is yet to come.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
All right, Nobody I think saw that big, one sided
game last week with Carver and Auburn. Boy, Auburn dominated
from start to finish. Coach, I know you've went back
in Watchet film to try to figure out what the
key was for Auburn getting that win. Well, what did
you see and then what do you see out of
Carver that's dangerous with them?
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
Well, I mean I think Auburn really played well. I mean,
Auburn's a good, really good football team, you know, and
so they secured the two seed in our region, and
you know they're going to make a playoff run. So
they've got a good They kind of shell shot Carver early. Man,
they got on them. I miss thirty one to seven
at halftime. They did some really good things, but Carver
can score from anywhere. I mean, they've got elite playmakers,
like Central does their quarterbacks of Texas A and M
(10:13):
commit as a receiver, so him with the ball in
his hands every plays a major issue.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
Trying to keep him in the pocket.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
Auburn and coach Goulsby did a great job of, you know,
staying in front of him and keeping a lid on
the defense and not letting him throw it over his head.
And you know, I just think for us, you know,
it's got to be that kind of recipe. You know,
you got to make them, make them snap the ball
over and over. You can't give up those sixty eighty
yard touchdowns. And you know you can't let the Q
run wilde on you. So big challenge tonight. But again
I do think the recipe was there what Auburn did
(10:40):
last week. And you know, obviously at home, if you
can get a lead early in the game, you know,
maybe you can roll them, you know, and maybe you
can create some momentum that we just hadn't had yet,
get a two score lead at some point and start
to feel good about it.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
But again, watch to play really well to do.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
It all right, coach. I'm sure we'll have more of
these pregame visits. Good luck tonight here in the regular
season finale inside Bulldog Stadium. Let's go get a win.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
Thanks Bann and go Dogs.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Coach Brian Moore will continue with our pregame show after
this time out. Your listen to Bulldog football here on
the Kicker.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
You are listening to Opulikah High School Football here on
ninety seven point seven Kicker FM.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
Now it's time for Coach Vince.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
McCracken's Keys to the Game, presented by Glenn Smith Chevrolet,
GMC and OP and get ready to smile.
Speaker 6 (11:31):
Are we on?
Speaker 5 (11:32):
Man?
Speaker 3 (11:32):
We're on Coach McCracken. It is time for coaches Keys
to the Game.
Speaker 7 (11:37):
Coach, tell you something two losses in a row?
Speaker 5 (11:42):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (11:42):
And then you ready for the Keys of the game.
Were here they.
Speaker 7 (11:45):
Are and I hope we can fulfill them tonight because
we really need a big win on defense tonight.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
We have to stop the run.
Speaker 7 (11:54):
Van Riggs sent me something a couple of days ago,
and and Elix City, I mean Enterprise had between the
two of them close to four hundred yards rushing.
Speaker 6 (12:08):
We cannot let this Carver team run the ball. I'm
just telling you.
Speaker 7 (12:14):
They got a great quarterback, they got a good running back.
But our defense is well now and hopefully no excuses tonight.
Speaker 6 (12:23):
We gotta get a bunch of three and outs.
Speaker 5 (12:25):
We don't.
Speaker 6 (12:26):
We want to tackle well.
Speaker 7 (12:27):
We didn't tackle well in the last two games, especially
on the edge.
Speaker 6 (12:32):
Gotta tackle better.
Speaker 7 (12:33):
We can't give up big plays, a big player run
over ten or a pass over fifteen.
Speaker 6 (12:40):
Where the big play is gonna come from tonight.
Speaker 7 (12:43):
Carver's gonna throw the ball down the field and they're
gonna run the edge on us.
Speaker 6 (12:47):
So we gotta stop that.
Speaker 7 (12:49):
We need to get a turnover too, Hopefully we can
do that. Can't let them make it on third downs.
We gotta stop their third down conversions. And we don't
need any stupid penalties tonight, people jumping off sides or
doing other things on defense. Pass interference, this guy's really good.
(13:12):
We have to pressure him, the quarterback, especially in pass downs.
We got a pressure him because he's a good one.
So I'm hoping that Bryanson's four or five or maybe
even six. Offensively, no turnovers. Can't turn the ball over.
We turn the ball over twice last week and twice
(13:35):
in the game before.
Speaker 6 (13:36):
We can't. If we want to win and lock up
this third seed.
Speaker 7 (13:41):
We cannot have a turnover van as as simple as that.
No stupid penalties on offense, on offense, jumping off sides,
things like that. And I say this, mister Cooper, but
I mean that for anybody's playing quarterback tonight or playing anywhere.
Speaker 6 (14:01):
No mistakes.
Speaker 7 (14:02):
Try not to make any mistakes offensively, special teams. Just
do your thing on special teams. Let's not have any
bad run backs or things like that. The first five
minutes of this football game, we're gonna be watching the
offense or defense.
Speaker 6 (14:22):
We're gonna be watching the offense. See if we can.
Speaker 7 (14:25):
Run the ball, run the ball and make first downs. Okay, Now,
the last five minutes and a half, the first five
of the third quarter and the last five of the game,
you folks at home, write those down and see how
we do on those. If we can do that, we
can win the game. Five or six players are gonna
(14:46):
determine this game. Van, I'm gonna tell you what. I'm
gonna make it some challenge for this team. You gotta
play hard tonight. You gotta play smart, and you gotta
play tough. Tough means come now stopping the run and
then you taking the ball and being able to score four.
Speaker 6 (15:06):
Or five times on offense.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
I like it.
Speaker 6 (15:08):
That's it, Vam. We need to win the game.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
I agree with you there, coach, and hopefully we are
headed towards a big win. We got about nine minutes
away until kickoff of the night's game. We'll take a
quick time out come back with more here from our
pregame show. Here listen OPE like a bulldog football Here
on the kicker. Time now for game conditions brought to
(15:32):
you by First Baptist Church OPA like a real quick
First Baptist Church, OPA like a proud to morn OPAL
like a schools. If you can't make it a church,
you can listen to the entire worship service every Sunday,
eleven am. On the kicker. Right now, sixty three mostly
clear sky is starting to feel like football weather, and
by the time this game's over, we'll be a bit
dipping down into the mid fifties, so it should be
a really nice night tonight inside Bulldog Stadium. We'll take
(15:56):
a break, we'll come back. Get you ready or captains
will be making their way on the field. Will have
your coin toss. So tonight's game we come back here. Listen,
no black a Bulldog football as Dogs get ready to
take on the Carver Wolverines. Here on the kicker back
here in signed Bulldogs Tamim Van Rings alongside coach Spence McCracken.
(16:18):
Mac McCracken will be roam on the sidelines tonight, Jason
Lee our spoder engineer and also helping us with our
halftime report that'll be coming up a little bit later
on then, Coach good crowd filing in here Senior night.
A lot of folks were on the field, so a
lot of them are turning to their seats. We had
twenty five senior football players and family members, a load
of marching band members. There also the managers and senior
(16:41):
cheerleaders as well that were all recognized prior to this game.
Here in the final regular season game for the Bulldogs,
and it's always good to be home. Mac McCracken is
back out of the locker room. He had a chance
to listen in to coach More and what the message was,
and I'm sure it was a very powerful message Mac,
before this team comes out here and play this final
regular season game.
Speaker 8 (17:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (17:00):
Actually he got them all together. They're fired up band.
That's one fired up dressing room right now.
Speaker 6 (17:06):
But he got them together and he said, boys, I
got a special guest and.
Speaker 9 (17:10):
He brought up coach Kenny Prescott, and Kenny gave a
great speech to him, talked about the importance of playing
roys on that jersey and what you got to do
for four quarters and play good old fashioned, hard nose.
Speaker 6 (17:22):
Hople like a football. So these boys are ready to play.
Speaker 9 (17:25):
We got everybody pretty good crowd here tonight on Senior
Night to honor these seniors, and you know they're gonna
play for him. You know, every every single snap band
is going to go for these seniors and for this
uh great city of Opelaika, and we got them. Give
a little shout out to my my good friend Brandon
Danford who's in recovering from surgery this week, and thoughts
(17:49):
and prayers from the Dog Nation to him and his family,
and uh, he is listening in live from Birmingham and
his in his hospital room tonight. But you know, a
dog win which shirt do some great things for Brandon
and his family.
Speaker 6 (18:02):
So let's go Dogs and let's get in this playoffs.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Absolutely, we'll continue praying for you, Brandon, appreciate that. Mag
thanks for reminding us. A coin toss taking place in
the middle of the field and Micha will have to
race out there and get this one as the as
both teams just slipped out there on the field. Our
coin toss probably my rentals outdoors locally on hunting, fishing,
an outdoor store. Head down for the white hat.
Speaker 9 (18:23):
Now I'll see your butts out, Okay, So you take
care of your team call.
Speaker 6 (18:28):
You're the visiting team. That is tails, That is he
what you gonna call it to Tels?
Speaker 3 (18:34):
I'll drop it.
Speaker 6 (18:35):
We'll flip it again and it is Tales.
Speaker 7 (18:40):
Well, I can't receive at the third or second half.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
All right, Well you heard there, Carver deferring to the
second half. So we'll see Opelaikah offensively and what the
Bulldogs can do against this Carver defense tonight. I think
that'll be a real good side if the Dogs can
get off to a good start offensively, something Opelikah has
not been able to do here the past few weeks.
And the coach will there'll be a statement to come
(19:04):
down and get this crowd into it. I kind of
like getting the football here and set the tempo.
Speaker 7 (19:07):
Coach, Yes, I do two, Van whatever look out, Jason
wrap the dead dumb thing.
Speaker 6 (19:14):
Boy.
Speaker 7 (19:15):
Uh No, I do too, Van. I really really don't
make much difference to me. But I'll tell you what.
We get the ball, let's make Furst down and let's
make something happen, and let's put points on the board.
Speaker 6 (19:30):
Furst fall.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
All right, Well, think quick break will come back. We
got kicked off on the way open like a high
school football is on the air, stamped Blake Shotson course down.
He's got the sidelines inside the twenty. He's goned ten
five touchdown, fall out, touchdown.
Speaker 10 (19:47):
The somersaults into the end zone, waits inside the thirty
twenty five twenty, waits down the sidelines ten five touchdown
and stays on the steat inside of the twenty inside
the tenth five the touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Hey time now the stadium for kickoff of tonight's game.
Speaker 5 (20:02):
Here on the kicker.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Hi video playing on the jumbo tron. Both teams in
each end of the stadium waiting to take the field.
The Wolverines and all white tonight, white pants, white jerseys.
They've got the green numbers outlined in yellow, white helmets
with a green Wolverine slash across each side. Bulldogs lined
up and they're gonna let the seniors bring them out
(20:28):
onto the field here at Bulldogs Stadium. As you can
hear the crowd roar for the Bulldogs. Carver now takes
the field with hand gestures to the opal like home
(20:51):
side as they are fired up across the way. Should
be a good one tonight here inside Bulldog Stadium. Dogs
black pants, red jerseys, white numbers outlined in black. Traditional
Opalik has script on our dogs rather on each side
of the helmet. As we get ready for kickoff here
(21:11):
in the tenth game of the season for the Opalaika Bulldogs.
Dogs come in tonight six and three, three and three
in region play. On the other side, Carver five and three,
three and three in region play. Harbor, though coming off
of two straight losses to Central Phoenix City at home
fifty eight to thirty five on the road at Auburn
forty one seventh, the most lopsided loss of the season,
(21:33):
and that's saying something because Carver opened up the season
on the road at Thompson to start out their season.
Thirty seven to six was the final score there. That
game was tight at six at halftime. We know how
good that Thompson team is. Op. We'll receive to the
right and big number fifty four of Carver will be
(21:56):
the return of the kickoff.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
Sure, he just puts that ball down with one hand. Bad.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
He's a big boy, he's aligneman, he's a big boy coach.
I think you've got my Carver roster, don't you subject
clock all right? Shavius Carter is kicking it off and
it'll be end Overhend And that's one of the better
ticks we've seen him make on film twenty Five's Ray
(22:25):
Van down the sidelines, forty cut at the forty three
and he's up near the forty five yard line. Good
return there for Andre Van and the Bulldogs will have
it from their own forty five yard line. So good
field position here for the Bulldogs. We have seen the
Bulldogs have really good returns. Last week against Central that
was really one of the big Brice spots was CJ.
(22:47):
Johnson his returns. We see Andre Van with a good
one there. Bulldogs first at ten from their own forty five.
Speaker 6 (22:52):
Right beautiful field position bad.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
With Cooper thirty five of sixty seven five and eighty
five yards, five touch downs, three interceptions. W has carried
it nine times, two for twenty yards. Bulldogs will start
with two wide receivers to the left. Now they'll bring
Washington in motion from the right side. It'll be c J.
Johnson who runs right and does not get much. They're
(23:16):
gonna say he picked up two yards up to the
forty seven yard line.
Speaker 7 (23:20):
Yeah, we didn't get a lot of push on the
right side that time.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
Julian Pritchett is back starting for the Bulldogs and left
tackle big number seventy two was out last week and
good to have him back. Dogs now will line up
three wide receivers to the left side and a single
receiver to the right. It'll be second down and eight.
As the Dogs are from their own forty seven yard line.
(23:46):
Cooper out of the shot gun, taking his time, gets
the snap. There's a handoff to CJ in a good
hole across midfield, across the forty five and CJ's down
to the Carver forty yard line for a thirteen yard
pickup and elaborate transfer in storage. First down.
Speaker 6 (24:01):
Guys, run that's a big play too, Van, that's a.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Great start, good run of thirteen yards there for CJ Johnson.
CJ stays in the game. Something coach Moore talked about,
how to get CJ more involved in the game in
all aspects. Make play some defense to tonight at the
thirty nine Actually here, what's gonna roll here to the
near side. Wants to throw. Let's one rip and it
is out of bounds at around the twenty three yard line,
(24:28):
trying to get it to Jalen Washington here on the
Bulldogs sidelines, but incomplete as he was out of bounds.
Speaker 7 (24:34):
Now we got those are the time we got to
make Van, we got to make these happen.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Now, come on, Wit well and Wit is really good
on the run, one of the better quarterbacks you've seen
roll and throw it on the run. Yeah, that time.
Not much separation too, I don't think at the Carver
thirty nine yard line and officials will come in and
blow this one dead. That on us and maybe a
(24:59):
procedure against the Bulldogs, and that's gonna back things up
five yards. Looks like it is.
Speaker 6 (25:07):
That's two mistakes now we made.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
Come on, guys, So that will back it up to
the forty four yard line and it will be second
down in fifteen coming up for the Bulldog. CJ. Johnson
is out now, Jordan Waits will check in Lake Johnson
will be the full back blocking to the left. Now
they'll bring Johnson. Actually a motion wal toss play to
(25:31):
Johnson trying to find some runner up here near side.
Got in the thirty five. CJ's inside the thirty and
he's cut down at the twenty six yard line. Comori
Jackson on the stop for the Wolverines, and that's going
to be elaborate transfer in storage. First down, got down
to the twenty seven yard line. Seventeen yard pickup.
Speaker 6 (25:52):
Wow, beautiful.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Yeah, good play design too to get CJ the ball
in motion with Jordan Waits in the backfield. Now first
and ten Bulldogs at the Carver twenty seven yard line.
Here's a double hand off getting a CEJ inside from
that wing back position. He's down to the twenty four
yard line. He picks up three yards and we see
the offense trying to get creative here Jalen Nelson. Now
(26:15):
we'll check in the ballgame along with Jordan Waits. So
two backs here for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 7 (26:21):
Now, Coach bores playing a lot of running backs right now,
sick like that.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Sure is nine fifty three open quarter, and this is
a wildcat look now with Jordan Waits. Waits will carry
the right side and Waits down to the twenty one
number and a good run close to three yards there,
and that'll set up a third down and relatively short
about a third and four coming up here for a
Bulldog offense.
Speaker 6 (26:46):
This is gonna be four down territory.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
With Cooper back at quarterback now with c J. Johnson,
I really like the play calling here early in this game.
Third down and four for the Bulldogs at the twenty
one of Carver. Now with Cooper, will changes play check
the Bulldogs sidelines. We're scoreless. First drive here for the
Bulldogs offensively nine to eleven left here in the first quarter.
(27:12):
Cooper now will bring Washington in motion from left to right.
Cooper gets the snap hand, the golf goes to CJ.
Speaker 6 (27:17):
CJ.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
Nice move inside the seventeen, CJ inside the fifteen, and
CJ is down to the fourteen yard line, a lambort
transfer in storage. First down a seven yard run for CJ. Johnson.
Blake Johnson was some good lead block in there for
the Bulldogs. I love this first offensive drive right here.
Speaker 7 (27:36):
Hey, you know we got our offensive line back in
tack to Van.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Yeah, a great point, Coach, you are right, especially with
Julian Pritchett coming back.
Speaker 6 (27:44):
Pritchett, Dillard Fears, Whitlow.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
And Mason First and ten at the fourteen yard line
of Carver. Snap handoff goes to Johnson and Johnson again
he is downhill running close to the ten yard line.
They're gonna mark him down at the eleven. So three
yards for CJ. And that will bring up second down
and seven for the Bulldogs at the eleven yard line
of the Wolverines. Excellent, excellent, well I continues to run
(28:11):
to eight seventeen remaining here in the first quarter. Come on,
o wee els, knock them off the ball Dogs and
again we'll see the wildcat here with Jordan Waits c J.
Johnson to the left. Waits gets the snap. It's a
double hand off to Blake Johnson. Blake inside the tin
and gonna be stood up right at the nine yard line.
(28:31):
Let's see, I think they're gonna mark them at the ten,
so only a pickup of one. So play looked like
it had something going. Carver did a good job of
keeping the hammer in check on that play. So it's
going to be third down and six for the Bulldogs
under seven forty to go here in the first quarter.
Speaker 6 (28:51):
Huge play right here.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
And you know Opalaka is really eye in six rather
than three with Cooper out of the shot, cej tail
back to the rights, went gonna throw towards the end
zone and got it to Bennett and they say incomplete,
out of bounds, boy, Bennett half.
Speaker 6 (29:09):
They look, look, we got a penalty in the backfist
be roughing the passer.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
What they got a hit on with?
Speaker 6 (29:15):
Yeah, that's all that can be.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
So let's see I fence staying out, white hat comes in, yes,
and roughing the passer, I believe was the call there
by the white hat.
Speaker 6 (29:30):
First half. WHOA, that's a big call.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
Yeah that was. That was a third down incomplete, was
bringing up fourth down and a first down.
Speaker 6 (29:39):
Boy boy, you couldn't have got off to a better
start than this. Van Riggs.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
Yeah, that was what Carver coach Mario White's gotta be
pulling his hair out on that one. Now, the Bulldogs
will go I formation first and goal at the five.
After that penalty there on the Wolverines ce J Johnson,
Blake Johnson. That's the Johnson and Johnson I formation and
it will go to Blake inside the three towards the
end zone and he is in touchdown. Bulldog seven eleven
(30:05):
remaining here in the first quarter and the Dogs strike
first here in Bulldog Stadium. What a drive there by
the Bulldogs. Good field position that you got to go
back to that was set up by Andre Van. Bulldogs
started that drive at the forty five, takes it fifty
five yards and chewed up almost half the quarter. Here
(30:31):
has Reese Beasley for the point after attempt.
Speaker 6 (30:33):
Boy, that is just a super way to start.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
Extra point is up and it's good Bulldogs seven carb
or nothing. That just score and drive. Power by Oplelaca
Power Services, hometown people working for you online at opalikapower
dot com. We're back after this time out. You're listening
to Bulldog football on the kicker fifty five yard touchdown
(31:02):
drive on the opening drive for the Opalaca Bulldogs. They
take a seven to nothing lead. On the Carver and
we'll see how coach Massey and the defensive staff can do.
Mac McCracken with the four seasons Federal Credit Union sideline
or bard. Mac didn't drive there, buddy.
Speaker 9 (31:14):
Absolutely, that's some old school Oblaca football right there.
Speaker 6 (31:17):
Great wildcat, great.
Speaker 9 (31:18):
Mixing up with play action everything like that. I want
coach flimming down here in the in the tent right now,
offensive line coach fired.
Speaker 6 (31:24):
Up, just told the boys that's what we expect. Don't
be surprised. That's acted of us.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
All right, thank you, Mac mac roaming the sidelines tonight.
And that kick drifts into the end zone for a touchback.
And now we'll see what this defense can do. Coach,
this will be a big one. If you can get
a three in out here.
Speaker 7 (31:40):
Well, hey, stop the run, stop the run, stop the run,
and stop the ruin at don't give up big plays,
all right.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
The quarterback for Carver, Zion Crumpton. He's a three star
Mississippi State commit wide receiver last season, comes over in
place quarterback Elijah Tarbor. He was nineteen care He's one
hundred and seventeen yards against Central a couple of weeks ago, we.
Speaker 6 (32:04):
Got a fresh set of TJ.
Speaker 7 (32:06):
Thomas, Money Thomas, Terres Thomas and Josh Davis, the three
Thomas boys.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
All right. Carver from their on twenty yard line and
Crumpton will throw sideline and it's incomplete. And he tried
to get over to wide receiver on the far side
of the field. It was incomplete, and it will be
second down and ten.
Speaker 6 (32:28):
Great job right there, Great job.
Speaker 7 (32:31):
We got all our defensive limbing back Hoss and right
in the middle of his vite burks.
Speaker 6 (32:37):
He's been backed after a five week absence.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
Second down to ten for Carver from their on twenty
yard line. Here's a run play Tarvor straight up the
middle and he's across the twenty five up to the
twenty six. I believe they're going to give him the
twenty seven yard line, so seven yards there. Trey Stone
on the stop. Four of the Bulldogs.
Speaker 6 (32:58):
Come on, guys him, run the ball on you like that?
Speaker 3 (33:04):
So it'll be third and three. Big down coming up
here for the Bulldogs. Coach Bryan Moore the sideline, telling
the crowd to get on their feet.
Speaker 6 (33:13):
Home on Dade, let's go.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
Could he use one of those five yard penalties right
here too? Carver from their own twenty seven yard line.
Here's a quarterback option play and the quarterback takes it
left and he is gone inside the thirty twenty ten
five touchdown. Cyan Crumpton on an option play, pulled it
(33:37):
and takes it at the distance for the Carver touchdown.
So just like that seventy three yards a flag after
the play for taunting and celebrating there from the quarterback. Well,
you can see how dangerous he is. He just pulled it.
There was one mistackle in the backfield tray Stone trying
to bring him down. Well, the option not defended good
(34:00):
by Opelaika. And there's a touchdown by Carver. And we'll
see if they try to kick an extra point here
or go for two. They got their field goal kicker
on the field. That's how they air. Cano penalty is
going to be accessed on the kickoff? Is that right?
It will be, Yes, And that's good because hopeful like
(34:20):
it could have some really good field position. Yes, they
do not have a strong kickoff game. Very small kicker here.
Speaker 6 (34:31):
Yeah, I watched him for the.
Speaker 7 (34:33):
Game Van He's very accurate, but he doesn't he doesn't.
Speaker 6 (34:36):
Kick the ball long way, but he's straight.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
All right, here's the extra point for the Wolverine. Snap
got down and the extra point just squeaks through, so
Carver ties it up six thirteen. Didn't take long. Third
play from scrimmage for the Wolverines and they touchdown run
by Zion Crumpton, and we're all tied up here with
six thirteen to go. You're listening to bulldog football here
on the kicker third and three and Carver takes at
(35:09):
the distance on a seventy three yard touchdown run from
the quarterback Zion Crumpton. And you see why he is
a SEC commit. Right now, six thirteen to play, first
quarter and Carver ties the game up here seven to seven.
And that penalty on sportsmanlike fifteen yard penalty was assessed.
(35:31):
So now Carver kicking from there on twenty five yard line,
so Opalaikah could really get some good field position here
on a good return gets a good field position. So
here's the big guy, number fifty four jvs. Carter a
short kick far side of the field field at around
the thirty eight yard line. Andre Van tries to set
an attorney's across midfield and Andre down to the Carver
(35:53):
forty nine yard line and opele like you will have
good field position already at the Carver forty nine thanks
to that short there, sir, after that penalty on the Wolverines.
So offense will need to come out again and put
up a point, but up the points because you can see,
coach how dangerous this.
Speaker 6 (36:09):
Carver offense house right, Yeah, dead gummet.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
So Opelika will start at the forty nine at Carver.
We're coming to you for the Orthopedic Clinic Broadcast Booth
East Alabama's go to center for orthopedic care. Two great
locations Atical Arts Center in Opal like in Lakeside Circle
in Albert whit Cooper out of the Shine and Gun
first and ten Bulldogs at the Carver forty nine. Two
wide outs left, single receiver to the right side, hand
off to CJ Wright side. CEJ NICs moves CJ at
(36:38):
the forty five and CJ is going to get down
to the forty four. Should be forward progress at the
forty four or they're going to mark them at the
forty five four yard pick up for the Bulldogs. We're
second out of six up coming here for Opelaka five
forty three to play first quarter and the Bulldogs will
hurry back to the line. Here trips to the left,
(37:00):
singer receiver right. Johnson remains a tailback for Cooper. Wit
changing his play, checks the sidelines, gets the signals in
from the coaching staff. Three to the wide side of
the field, left side, singer receiver to the right. Wit
play action, quick throw to Johnson and he dropped it
(37:21):
at the forty yard line. Not sure if it was
too low, but incomplete and it will be a third
down and six coming up here for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 6 (37:28):
Man, we got to catch that ball. Good leave.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
Benett Young to the right side, same formation again with
those three receivers to the left side.
Speaker 5 (37:41):
C J.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Johnson is the loan back and now Cooper will check
the sidelines and looking like they're changing their play again
here with five sixteen clock his stop play clock down
to ten, down to nine, steal plenty of time to
get it on. Now down to seven, down to six.
(38:01):
Cooper with four down to three, gets the snap off,
drops back, pressure comes and Cooper sacked back at the
forty five yard line. Gonna be a loss of close
to six yards and Carver brought the house and the
Bulldogs slow developing play had no time to get that
one off and Cooper is very slow to get up
too after taking that hit.
Speaker 10 (38:23):
They lost thirteen yards, So fourth gone fourteen.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
That was a tough hit there on. Wit actually lost
thirteen yards. I was looking at the original down marker.
So now we'll be fourth down and around fourteen to
go for the Bulldogs. A couple of late players coming
on here, as Reese Beasley will catch this snap at
around the thirty two yard line to punt this one away.
(38:52):
Reee gets the snap, high hanging punt and hits down
at the twenty, takes a nice bulldog roll inside the
twenty and down at around the seventeen yard line, so
good print there by Reese Beasley unable to allow this
talented Carver offense a return guys to get an opportunity
to return there for sixteen to go. First quarter, And.
Speaker 7 (39:16):
Man, we've already given up a big play at seventy
yards and I don't think we had anybody touching, did we?
Speaker 6 (39:28):
Now we didn't. That's six.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
We got some concerning things for a quarterback on the
sidelines right now. And with getting tended to the first
play from scrimmage for Carver, they a pick up of
maybe two yards up to the twenty yard line and
went took a pretty good shot on that play. And
now Cooper is down on the sidelines being tended to
and certainly help everything. Okay, we'll have I'm mapp of
(40:01):
cracking checking on that seck it down from the twenty
yard line. Here for Carver, quick rpo throw and catching
it's caught up to the thirty five yard line. It
to be a first down Wolverines. I'll say up to
the thirty six. Christ McCoy on that reception to the
thirty six, so it'll be first down and ten for
(40:28):
Carver quarterback Crumpton out of the shotgun seven to seven
ball game right now, Carver with the football trips to
the right side of the field, and here's an option
playing the quarterback goes down Crumpton back of the thirty
two yard line. A big time stop by Tremaine Thomas
Baby TJ brings them down for about a five yard loss,
(40:51):
four yard loss. So it'll be second down and fourteen
coming up here for the Wolverines LINEUS scrimmage will be
the thirty two yard line and it will be second
down in fourteen. Carbor'll bring a man in motion we'll
(41:17):
fake it now. The quarterback wants to run, he's gonna
be brought down again at the thirty two yard line,
a big time stomp. Welcome back, look key Drick Burts.
Coach McCracken let Kendrick back in there and makes his
presence down there to be third and long Carver, third
and around thirteen coming up for the Wolverines. I actually
failed the game. Third and fourteen here for the Wolverines.
(41:37):
Can't give up a big play here, No sir, no
sir to twenty eight to go first quarter tight at seven.
Some new troops coming on here for Opal like in
the defensive staff trying to make sure they get the
right signal in it'll be two backs either side here
for his Crumpton the quarterback out of the shotgun. Two
wide receivers left, single receiver right, and Crumpton drops back,
(41:58):
wants to throw taking out way deep shot down field.
Got a receiver there and it's incomplete. It falls incomplete,
intended for Kamani Clary. Two guys were there for Opalaika
and that one I think actually hit him. Antonius Peters
was in coverage, but thankfully falls incomplete. And now Carver
will have to punt it away here on a fourth
and fourteen.
Speaker 7 (42:18):
That's a great play by our safety. And man, we
got to get more pressure on the quarterback.
Speaker 6 (42:24):
It's thirty thirteen. We rushed forward. We didn't getting bay
to close.
Speaker 3 (42:28):
Good to see whit Cooper is up on his feet
and walking around now, and certainly hope everything's okay with
that young man. And we'll get down to check you.
When mac mccrack had coming up two o five to play,
here's a snap to Crumpton, the quarterback who also punts
(42:48):
it hits at the thirty eight yard line, and we'll
take a Carver roll down Opelika, roll around the thirty five.
That's where Opelika will start head down the crack. It's
a scary situation there with Cooper. Good to see him
up even around now.
Speaker 9 (43:01):
Yeah, I'm not really sure what happened to him, but
I think they're gonna keep him off right now, so
I guess we're gonna say fuller, fuller in right now.
Speaker 3 (43:11):
All right, Well, thank you, mag And certainly it is
good to see Wit up in about he took a shot,
and certainly there was something that happened on the sidelines,
But he's on his feet and players coming and checking
on him. But Fuller Young steps in for Wit now
to be first in ten. Of course, Fuller quarterback the
entire game against Auburn back in week number three, gets
the snap, hands it off here in the near side.
(43:33):
Jordan Waits slips across the thirty five and gets something
to the thirty seven yard line, trying to pick up
two yards. Second down to eight.
Speaker 6 (43:45):
Yeah, we got we got.
Speaker 3 (43:54):
Bulldogs getting their place and in wild can't look here,
and it is Jordan Waits work in the quarterback position.
Jordan gets the snap, runs straight up the middles. They
ran into a lead blocker and gonna be close to
the first down. Got the first down as he carries
it up to the forty six yard line. That's nine
yards on the run. There by Jordan Waits out of
(44:16):
the wildcat. Now we'll see Fuller Young back in at
quarterback first and ten from his own forty six quick
hand off. At that time, Jordan stood up right at
the line of scrimmage and nothing doing there for Jordan
Waits on that play. So no game. Second down in ten.
(44:37):
Bulldogs trying to go really fast here too, a line
backup Fuller out of the shot gun, gets the snap.
Here's a toss play to Weights and Carver all over
in the backfield, brings him down. Maybe lost a yard
and no game. It'll be third down and eleven, I
believe coming up for the Bulldogs. As that play lost
a yard. Bulldog's in a tough spot here close to midfield, though,
(45:05):
Dogs that they're on forty five yard line after that
loss of one, they et eleven yards for the first down.
An empty backfield. Now for Fuller, Young out of the
shotgun with two wide outs either side, checking the sidelines.
I think the Bulldogs may want to take it to
the end of the quarter here. Now they'll run one
final play. Fuller drops back, steps up in the pocket,
(45:29):
and Fuller hit right near the line of scrimmage. You'll
pick up one on the play. Looked like he had
an avenue to run there, but Fuller just putting out
run that speedy defensive Carver. And that'll be the end
of the first quarter and we'll step aside.
Speaker 6 (45:40):
It'side.
Speaker 3 (45:41):
The Bulldogs will be punning when we start the second quarter.
Tight at seven. As we head to the second you're
listening toble like a bulldog football here on the kicker
well can be back to Bulldog Stadium, tied at stepping
as we start the second quarter of the open could
punting the ball back to Carver. As we getting ready
(46:03):
to start the second quarter and not much going offensively
for the Bulldogs and with Cooper sideline at the moment
with an injury, and that time Fuller Young coming in
and run the quarterback position for the Bulldogs. Opelika will
hurry the punt team out. Beasy will stand at the
thirty five yard line, gets the snap and it puts
a high boot into this one. No fair catch right
(46:25):
now by Carver. They'll feel that inside the ten spin
move still on the feet at the twenty twenty five
good return and across the twenty five and finally brought
down by Money Thomas. Two flags come in, though I
didn't see a face mask, so hopefully this will be
a penalty against the Wolverines on that return. Maybe a
(46:45):
personal foul wind side block I believe could be about
the only.
Speaker 5 (46:53):
Hope.
Speaker 3 (46:54):
Like a pointing as though it's in the direction of Carver.
We've yet to get an official signal here from the
white hat. Now he'll step over here in the open
area of the field and let us know it is
a hold against Carver, so that will they gate a
good chunk of that return yardage there from the Wolverines.
(47:19):
Foorth Pedic Clinic Broadcast Booth is where we're coming to
you from Eastellbama's go to center for Worth Pedic Care,
two locations, one in Auburn and one in Ople. I
like to serve you an online at the Orthoclinic dot
com Andrix coach Spence mccrackett, Mac McCracken and Jason Lee
with you now. The starting field position will be the
twenty one yard line here for the Wolverines, and defense
(47:40):
did a much better job second time out defending Crumpton.
In the offense, we'll see what they do here. First
and ten, two wide receivers to the right hand off
will go to Tarvor and he is hit first by
Thomas and still on his feet though he didn't blow
it dead, and he gets up to the twenty five
yard line. It picks up three yards and it'll be
(48:01):
second down in seven coming up sewn second down, and
they actually gave him the twenty six yard line, so
it'll be five yard pickups. So second out in five here.
For the Wolverines, Javoski Barnes is their big blocking back.
(48:24):
He'll line up kind of like Blake Johnson does for
the Bulldogs. He's five eleven to two oh five, not
as big as the hammer, still a good lead blocker. Here.
They'll option play again RPO and he overshot his intended
receiver Kamanie Clary. The quarterback crumped and pulled it from
the running back, threw it over the head of his
intended receiver. So it'll be third and five. Other big
third down up coming for the Bulldog defense here with
(48:46):
ten to fifty five to play in the second.
Speaker 7 (48:48):
Quarter, good job right there by the day, Hey, you
stop right here, boys.
Speaker 3 (48:53):
Nop like a crowd. Need to get into it here.
Don't give him the third down conversion. Tie it at
seven here with ten fifty five to play, and Bulldogs
could use a three and out here on defense.
Speaker 6 (49:05):
They don't want him to play so far off of them.
Speaker 3 (49:07):
Crumped in the quarterback out of the shotgun. He's got
Elijah Tarbor's running back to his right and a receiver
either side. Play action. Now he'll throw and it is
caught incomplete shy of the first down marker anyway, and
it'll be four and five. Good stopped there by the
Bulldogs another three and out and underthrew his receiver there
(49:30):
on that play.
Speaker 6 (49:32):
Nice stop by the Dogs there.
Speaker 3 (49:34):
And again Opelika looking like they could get really good
field position. They just got to, you know, make Carver's
defense pace. So we got two returnment out Bennett Young
also Andre then both returnment out. See if Opelika can
set something up here on special teams. Gotta be careful too,
because the quarterbacks also the punter coach, and I know
(49:55):
even though they're on their own twenty six yard line
snapping this, they've only gotten five yards to go for
the first down. Gets the snap, he wheel punted away
and the punt will head towards Bennet Young and he
gets side of the way, and this is gonna take
a big Carver roll all the way down inside the
twenty down to the nineteen yard line. So Opalaika tried
(50:17):
to set up something on the return there and lost
to a lot of field position with that one. As
that one went all the way down to the nineteen
to fifty five yard punt there by the Wolverines.
Speaker 7 (50:26):
You got two returners back there, you got each of
them protecting the hash and one of those should have
been caught right there.
Speaker 6 (50:35):
That gave them an extra twenty yards.
Speaker 3 (50:38):
Bulldogs will bring back in fuller. Young at quarterback. Jaalen
Nelson is the tailback for the Bulldogs Opelikah inside their
twenty worst field position tonight. For Opelika, Young goes under
center here and a quick inside give to Blake Johnson.
Blake inside across the twenty five Evan Blake's up to
(51:00):
the twenty seven, maybe the twenty eight. Yeah, they'll mark
him at the twenty eight yard line. Nine yard pickup
there by the hammer. Good job, so it will be
second down in two upcoming here for the Bulldogs. They say,
(51:21):
got up to the twenty seven yard line. Carb band
making their presence felt across the way. Here's a quick
inside give to Nelson. He's got the first down. Nelson
carries it up to the thirty two yard line, up
to the thirty three actually for a six yard pickup.
Good run there by Jalen Nelson. Jalen one of the
(51:43):
unsung running backs for the Bulldogs a lot, but he
has been really tough this season coming into tonight twenty
eight carries for one hundred and fifty five yards, and
he stays in the backfield. Here on first and ten,
dogs that are on thirty three yard line. They'll give
it to Nelson again. And Nelson almost was able to
get something going, but he got stopped right at the
line of scrimmage. That'll be second and ten right there.
(52:07):
Bulage have yet to attempt to pass with Fuller yet
is he is brand new in the game here for Opalaika, we're.
Speaker 6 (52:14):
Gonna have to chuck it a little bit. Van.
Speaker 7 (52:17):
I just don't know whether they're gonna hold up. Just
bring everybody on the run.
Speaker 3 (52:21):
Fuller thirteen to twenty two on the season, seventy yards
and a couple interceptions. Second down to ten for Oplaka
for their own thirty three yard line hand off this
side nearsight and broke it across the forty five cross midfield.
Here's Jalen Nelson. He's got good speed twenty five twenty
at the fifteen, stiff arms of man tackled down to
the ten. There's that big run we've been looking for
from Jalen Nelson. He gets all the way down to
(52:44):
the ten fifty seven yards and a Lambert transferring storage
first down water run Jalen Nelson, Jordan Wakes will come
in now and you have Nelson a breather and you
got Blake Johnson chicken in the ball game as well,
and'll be first in gold. Bulldogs at the ten want
to run by Jalen Nelson I formation, Young goes under center,
(53:09):
quick hand off to Blake Johnson inside the five, and
Blake is down. They say right at the five. So
a five yard pick up at a second and goal
at the five yard line. Eight twenty seven remaining. Here
(53:29):
in the second quarter, we're tied at seven seven to
seven with Ouldogs a second and goal from the five upcoming.
Speaker 6 (53:36):
They're gonna just try to power the ball in there
they are.
Speaker 3 (53:38):
It's the C. J. Johnson and Jordan Waits I formation.
Look here under center. Bulldogs again will go back to Johnson.
Johnson inside the five and Johnson pushing his way and
there's going to be a hold on Opalaika. It comes
from the back, judge, I got a feeling and it
will be backing the Bulldogs up and that's not what
(54:02):
you need to getting close to the goal line. There
more than likely a ten yard penalty blocking the back
actually against Opalaiko, Boy, how do you see that? And
all that commotion I know, and all that commotion there
and coach Brian Mortal's coming there and asking how in
(54:23):
the world do you get a block in the back
and a big pile up in an I formation? Look,
almost one of those really didn't even have anything to
do with the plate type penalties. Well, that's gonna block
back Opalika up close to the fifteen yard line. Now
(54:44):
to be a second down and goal from the fifteen
yard line. Jordan Waite, C. J. Johnson, Blake Johnson all
in the huddle now for Opalaiko at the thirteen yard
line will be the field position here under eight minutes
(55:07):
now to go wild. Can't look here for Jordan Wait
C J. Johnson to the left. Wait, snap got away
from him and he's gonna be wrapped up at the
twenty yard line and goes down. Not sure what the
Maybe a lineup issue that snap got way to the
right of Jordan and the Bulldags are gonna lose some
big yards all the way back to the twenty round
(55:28):
the twenty five yard line. So Oplaika had at the
five and now it's inside the twenty five at the
twenty actually at the twenty yard line.
Speaker 6 (55:39):
Maybe get it back in the middle of the field.
Speaker 3 (55:42):
Ye, third down and twenty now and you got Fuller
Young out of the shotgun. Third and goal here from
the twenty yard line of inside pitch play to Johnson.
Johnson makes a man miss at the fifteen and Johnson's
down to the ten yard line. But it will still
be fourth and goal from the team. And I got
a feeling Coach Moore will try to go for some
(56:03):
points here and kick the field goal.
Speaker 6 (56:05):
ALM.
Speaker 3 (56:06):
It's like coach is going to go for the hole.
Speaker 6 (56:09):
Oh, we ain't going No.
Speaker 3 (56:10):
I don't think going for it here. I think there
comes a field goal team in. So this will be
a twenty seven yard field goal attempt. Reyese Beasiley from
the right hash six forty one clocks stopped seven to
seven ball game Dogs trying to go up by three here.
Fuller Young not the normal holder, will be holding here.
(56:36):
Oh and the Bulldogs did the shift and got five yards.
That's going to be off sides on Carver. Now Opalika
may designed to go for it here. Coach McCracken, good
call right there.
Speaker 6 (56:46):
I never I never expected that.
Speaker 3 (56:48):
Now here comes the offense back on the field.
Speaker 7 (56:50):
Coach, it's gonna be they gotta make five yards they do.
Speaker 3 (56:55):
I think coach more than the like his shot, like
his chances here at the five yard line. Hard maybe
try to draw them off sides again.
Speaker 7 (57:04):
I don't know what JD's gonna roll up here. This
is not gonna be a power play though.
Speaker 3 (57:10):
You got the loan back of C. J. Johnson the
fourth and goal from the five Dogs trying to go
for it here, Fuller Young under center play action roles.
They throw and it's underthrown, intended for Washington, and it
was well underthrown by Fuller Young and it's incomplete, and
now Carver will take over on their own five yard line.
(57:31):
Score stays seven to seven. Bulldogs seem like they had
what they wanted there, but Fuller off the bench there
and you could tell just a little rusty on that throw,
and it's incomplete. Now six sixteen to play. Carver gonna
(57:53):
be backed up though here from their own five yard line,
crumpting out of the shotgun. He's got one receiver to
the left of one to the right. Run a loan
back is Elijah Tarbor to his right, and Carver move
that's going to back them back up. Well, you love
the defense to come up with a turnover here, coach, Yes, sir,
could certainly use that. We're tied at seven here with
(58:19):
six sixteen to play in the first half. As it is.
As to the goal, we're gonna kind of be back
almost on the two and a half yard line here,
Stone and Birks the linebacker shifted by the defense. Crumpton
(58:41):
gets the stamp, hands into Tarbor's wrapped up right of
the goal line, and back into the end zone. I
will believe they're gonna say forward progress at the one,
and boy, that was close to a safety. Dogs wanted it.
Carver is gonna have it at the one, and the
Bulldog defense all over that one. Theres Thomas and baby TJ. Money,
(59:02):
Thomas and the crew up there really putting a whooping
on the offensive line there, Carver, and now it will
be seck it down or that thing's on about the
half the yard line. It is second and fourteen on
about the half yard line. Carver really backed up deep
in their own end zone here, bull shifting another flag
(59:26):
and I don't know if the ball can go back
any further. That's the problem. I got a feeling, coach,
you're going to see crumped and chunk this ball down field.
Try to get one of his receivers deep.
Speaker 7 (59:41):
Oh, it's right at the half inted, it's barely on
the off the goal line.
Speaker 3 (59:46):
Man five point thirty one remaining in the first half.
Carver backed up on their own goal line. Here second
down and fourteen, and here he goes Carver. Crumpton rather
drops back, throws one deep down field, and it is
(01:00:07):
incomplete in and out of the hands of his receiver
at the forty four yard line. Boy, he almost came
down with it. Good coverage on the back end there
by Xavier Thomas R. Check that that was actually Jamel
or Brayden Howard rather on the coverage there on the
back end. Third down and long now for Carver again
from their own end zone. And then I got a feeling, coach,
(01:00:28):
he'll chunk it again.
Speaker 6 (01:00:29):
I think so too. They got stroke. We got straight
man coverage over there.
Speaker 3 (01:00:34):
Although they may run it here to try to get
a little bit of breathing room to punt this thing away.
If they try to punt it here, it may be
a disaster. Be fine with us, though. Crumpting the quarterback
out of the shotgun. He's got two wide left. Seeing
a receiver to the right again from his own end zone,
He's gonna drop back, wants to throw it, and it
is hauled in and caught in a first down completion
(01:00:55):
across the fifteen up to the sixteen. He got it
up to Tyler Grant for the first town and boy,
that was a huge play for the Wolverines as they
got it up close to the sixteen yard line for
a first down. And now Carver will play with five
the link to go here in the first half and
try to stretch this lead here. Bulldogs from their own
(01:01:21):
are the Wolverines from their own sixteen yard line?
Speaker 6 (01:01:24):
Need to turn over right here.
Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
That will be nice. Crumpeding out of the shotgun, checking
the sidelines. They're letting some clock wine down here. Four
forty six, down to four forty five, and I believe
they're going to take a time out. Coach Mario White
comes in, takes a time out for forty one to
play in the first half, tight at seven and we're
back after this. You're listen, no p like a Bulldog football.
I'm the kicker. Four forty one to play here in
(01:01:55):
the first half. We're tied at seven with the Carver
Wolverines and the open like a Bulldogs here Bulldog Stadium,
Ving rixed Coachpence McCracken. Make McCracken and Jason Lee and
Carver now with a first and ten from there on
sixteen yard line with the football here late in this
first half, Bulldog defense trying to come up with a
big stop here. Give the offensive chance here in this
(01:02:17):
southers now got away from the cornerback Crumpton picks it
up at the four yard line. Now hits the sidelines
and he just got out of bounds. Boy almost found
the sidelines for a touchdown, running lane there, but got
out of bounds and they marked him, I believe, right
back at the line of scrimmage, thankfully. An athlete with speed,
(01:02:38):
boy he is on skates coaching. He is dangerous with
the football in his hands. He just got back to
the line of scrimmage, So no gain. Second down in
ten Carson.
Speaker 6 (01:02:46):
Riddle in there for the Dogs inside.
Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
He gained twelve yards though coach he picked it up
on the four yard line and got back to the
got back to the sixteen.
Speaker 6 (01:02:56):
Him and Isaiah Gray enter on the defensive line.
Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
Two wides either side. I gotta watch him chunking it here,
crumpting out of the shotgun with Tarvor the tailback to
his right. Crumpton gets the snap, they'll give it to
the tailback. He broke a tackle in the backfield, still
on his feet inside the twenty and brought down Shy
of the twenty five yard line, down at the twenty
four yard line. But it'll set up a third and
very short jay battle on the stop there but eight
(01:03:21):
yards for the running back Elijah Tarvor. Third down in
three coming up here is a huge third down for
this Bulldog defense. Four o nine clock running here in
the first half. I need to force a carver front here,
two wides either side. Crumpt it out of the shotgun.
(01:03:43):
He'll bring a man in motion. Crumpton dropped the football
and he still broke a tackle, picked it up, he
gots the sidelines, and he is down the sidelines. One
man to beat. No, he stepped out of bounds. I'll
mark him out at the thirty nine yard line, but
he made him pay another drop snap. He picked it
up and got the sidelines, and thankfully he stepped out
(01:04:03):
of bounds at the thirty nine yard line, but not
before he picked up seventeen yards and a Carver first down.
Not a touchdown though, but alright, itch first down run?
Speaker 7 (01:04:13):
All right, Itch, guy's gotta play better than that. Yeah,
we lost contained on two of those.
Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
Too many broken tackles on those on the quarterback, especially
trying to pick the football up. Two widet either side
Crumpton at the Bulldog thirty nine yard line. Play action
drops back wants to take a shot, throws across the
middle of the field, and an ice play batted away
by the Bulldog's Antonius Peters where they're going to get
him for past interference Actually a hold and a call
(01:04:46):
defensive holding on Peters as he had McCoy the intended receiver,
So that will be a ten yard Penley and Harbor
will have the football inside the thirty down at the
opal like a twenty nine yard line. After that one
has stepped off that, sure we're gonna sae down to
(01:05:12):
the twenty nine yard lines. That was a ten yard penalty.
Three thirty eight to go here in the first half.
We're tied at seven right now, but Carr removing the
football down the field. They've got a first down and
ten at the Opalaika twenty four yard line, and the
white hat comes in and blows it dead. Mac McCracken
with the Four Seasons Federal Credit Union Sideline Report. Mac,
(01:05:33):
I know, what's the mood kind of offensively down there.
I know, with right now on the sidelines, his return
does not likely. But I know I've seen a lot
of coaches over there talking to quarterback Fuller Young.
Speaker 9 (01:05:44):
Yeah, there's you know, just trying to keep high spirits
up and you know they're still fired up offensively. But uh,
you know, hey, I said, I ain't seen a quarterback
like this in a long time. I mean, he's like PlayStation,
so he's just making some terrific plays against us. But
we got to step up here, at least get your
zero with three out of this. Well, we got to
step it up here, boys, defensively. This guy's an athlete, now.
Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
Yeah, there's no doubt about it. Mat McCracken with the
Four Seasons Federal Credit Union Sideline Report. And it will
be as we thought. At the twenty nine yard line,
although Plika first and ten, Crumpton gets the snap throws
it out into the flats where it is caught by Williams,
a wide receiver, A flag thrown a nice spin move
and Williams was knocked out of bounds at the fourteen
yard line. But there is a penalty flag that's thrown
(01:06:29):
and a hold is the indication, and that will go
against Carver. So that'll back them up with three twenty
seven to play here in the first half and another
big penalty there on. The Wolverines certainly hope it doesn't
come back to Haunta's coach, But we had the ball
of the five yard line, second and goal at the
(01:06:51):
five and and we came away with no points. In
a game like this is high stakes that it is,
you just about can't make those mistakes.
Speaker 6 (01:06:57):
Well, there are a big play team too, yes they are.
Speaker 7 (01:07:00):
And we have to control ball, control the ball down
the field.
Speaker 3 (01:07:06):
And when you got an opportunity like that to score,
that's why it even makes it more devastating when you
don't score. But hopefully it does not come back to
bite the dogs tonight. Wolverines. After that penalty will back
them up to the thirty seven yard line, So the
Wolverines at the thirty seven of Opalaika, but this will
be a first down and eighteen for the Wolverines. Now
(01:07:29):
Trip's receivers to the left side. Pressure comes from the Bulldogs.
Prumpted in trouble heads towards the sidelines and he is
knocked out of ounds at the thirty six yard line.
He was able to pick up one on the scamper
and it'll be second down and seventeen upcoming for the Wolverines.
We got three zero nine to play, still tied at
seven here at Bulldog Stadium. A lot at stake tonight
(01:07:52):
in this game. Three seed on the line here for
both of these teams. Carver's already locked in a playoff
spot with a loss tonight. For Opalaika, Opalikah would be
battling for a four seed depending on what all shakes
out tonight. But to pressure on this quarterback, if you
(01:08:14):
throw floor wide receivers three left, single receiver to the right, Crumpton,
that pass batted down nicely, tray Stone. What a great
play tray Stone there is. He batted that one down
in the face of the quarterback, Zion Crumpton. Crumpton ended
up coming back down with it, but could not run it.
And the rigional line of scrimmage will stay the thirty
(01:08:36):
five or the thirty six year thirty five yard line.
Speaker 6 (01:08:39):
This is a huge play right here.
Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
Yep, third down in sixteen upcoming here for the Wolverines.
Speaker 7 (01:08:45):
Don't lose contained pressure the quarter back.
Speaker 3 (01:08:49):
Well, I like that call on that one, coach. That
was a design blitz there. And yes, sir, and if
you can't get to the quarterback at least batted down
like Trey Stone did there, maybe leaked Burk's will make
a big play in his return to the line up here.
It'll be a run play here and no gain on
the play. Nice tie by Isaiah Gray. He brings down
the tailback Elijah Tarbor for no gain. Actually lost the
(01:09:11):
yard back to the thirty six yard line and it'll
be fourth down. We'll see what Carver decides to do there.
Speaker 6 (01:09:18):
Go far.
Speaker 3 (01:09:19):
Yeah, they're kind of in no man's laying here, so
it looks like they're gonna keep the offense out or
they could decide to squibkick it here. I don't think
they're going to squibkick it. They made the fourth he's
gonna try something deep. They got a five wide look here,
three to the left, two receivers to the right. Crumpton
out of the shotgun Crumpton will get the snap, drops back.
(01:09:41):
Officials though blow it dead. It's a procedure penalty against Carver,
and that's gonna back them up five yards. They're gonna
punt down now. They'll be at the forty one yard
line and they bring the punting team in now, So
a big time stop there by the Bulldog defense. Two
twenty four to play here in the first half in
this game's staying tide right now, it's seven between Opelke
and Carver, so a big one there backs it up
(01:10:12):
to the forty one yard line. Carver shows that they
will punt it here. But of course, remember their punter
is their quarterback.
Speaker 6 (01:10:19):
Oh yeah, that's right.
Speaker 3 (01:10:20):
Opelika not putting anybody back deep. They're playing a straight
up safe defense here as well. So the stamp will
go to Crumpton and he will boot it away and
hopefully this thing gets in the end zone. It's inside
the five and it does scoot into the end zone.
So Opelichael will have it from their own twenty yard
line with two fifteen to play and Opelika with three timeouts,
Carver with two timeouts. When play resumes after this here
(01:10:43):
on the kicker two point fifteen to play. Opelike will
have it first and ten Dogs when they're on twenty
yard line and Young out of the shotgun. It'll be
hand off here near sight hit hard in the back
was CJ. Johnson and he will go down for no
game on the play and it will be seck it
(01:11:04):
down in ten. I believe there was no gain on
the play. Interesting to see here how Carver uses their timeouts.
They've not used a timeout now. You would think they
may try to get the football back with two timeouts
after this play. If the Bulldogs don't pick up anything,
I would expect Mario White to come in and take
a time out. Second down in nine and they'll say
(01:11:26):
Opelika did pick up a yard. Dogs will have it
from their own twenty one yard line. Two wide receivers
to the left side, Full or Young out of the shotgun.
Young will give it to Waits. Waits a hand off
back inside to see J. Johnson and gets up to
the twenty three yard line. Picked up two yards. No
(01:11:47):
timeout yet taken by coach White there it is, so
he takes a timeout with one seventeen remaining, and Opelik
will be facing a third and seven. Dogs really need
to pick this up. Don't want to give the football
back to the Wolverines here with one thirteen to play,
We're back after this time out. You listen to Bulldog
football on the kicker w kk R Auburn.
Speaker 11 (01:12:06):
Opelika is League County's best Country ninety seven point seven
kicker FM and iheard Country station.
Speaker 3 (01:12:22):
Third and seven for Opelake out of the time out
here one thirteen to play. Here in the first half
seven seven ball game, Carver still has one timeout remaining,
So if Opelik can I pick up the first down,
I expect coach Mario White to race in and call
another timeout, try to get his team a chance here
to find some points late in this first half. Opelika
needs seven yards to pick up the first down, and
(01:12:44):
Opelika from their own twenty three yard line going out
of the shot gun. A wide receiver either side. CJ.
Johnson is the tailback. CJ at the twenty five across
the thirty CJ. He's got the first down as he
carries it up to the thirty eight yard line, a
big time Lambert transfer in storage first down, fifteen yard
(01:13:06):
pick up there by CJ. Johns sitting now the Bulldogs
will hurry back to the line with one five to
play here in the first half. Actually got it up
to the thirty six is where they marked it now,
and now they're moving the spot back to the thirty eight.
So there we go Bulldogs with all three timeouts. Boy,
you'd love at least to give Reese a shot at
a field goal here. I won't expect the Bulldogs to
(01:13:30):
do anything crazy through the air here, of course. Bulldogs
down to their third quarterback this season. Right now, there's
a handoff left side and CJ was some tough running
across the forty five and he gets up to the
forty six and there's a timeout taken by coach Brian
Moore after that eight yard run by c J. Johnson.
It's a really good running there by CJ. Timeout on
(01:13:52):
the field. Fifty four seconds to go. Bulldogs now moving
the football on offence. We'll see what the Dogs can do.
Tight at seventy bag here Bulldog Stadium. Fifty three seconds
remaining here in the first half, and we're tired at seven.
(01:14:12):
Bulldogs with a good run up to the forty six
yard line. Dogs now from there on forty six and
they will be second down and two coming up here
for the Bulldogs. And wait, coach, you love to break
a big run here and score late in this first half.
Speaker 6 (01:14:26):
Carver.
Speaker 3 (01:14:27):
We'll get the football to start the second half too.
Speaker 7 (01:14:29):
Yeah, I'm just the only thing I'm concerned about is
us being unable to.
Speaker 3 (01:14:34):
Throw the ball much well, and they are loading the box. Yes,
you can seck it down in three.
Speaker 6 (01:14:39):
Yeah, they got six in there right now.
Speaker 3 (01:14:42):
I think it's seck it down in two officially. Here
snap hands off goes to cej play action. They're going
to throw down the sidelines trying to get it to
Jalen Washington incomplete good coverage down field by the Wolverines.
That was Terry and Davin poured in coverage on Washington
(01:15:03):
that was over Washington's head out of bounds. It'll be
third and two, forty nine seconds remaining. Don't like the
don't don't mind the call there at all, but.
Speaker 6 (01:15:13):
Well they don't to get bad about it. It stops
the clock.
Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
Well, if the pass was on the money, though unfortunately
I don't think Jaalen makes the makes the catch. That
was really good coverage there by Carver Andre Van Now
on the right side, they'll go I formation here Johnson
and Johnson in the backfield. Here, it'll be a quick
ins to waits Wait's good run forty five down to
the forty four yard line. First down, labort transfer in storage,
(01:15:38):
first down, forty two seconds remaining, and the Bulldogs will
try to hurry up and get a playoff quickly here
full her out of the shotgun down into forty down
forty now thirty eight thirty seven. Bulldogs get the snap
lay action, they'll throw in the flats. Got it to Washington.
He's wrapped up and the Bulldogs will have to come
in and burn a time out. Tried to throw it
(01:16:01):
out in the flats. Washington got wrapped up, and the
Bulldogs are gonna lose fourteen nine yards on that play,
and it'll stop the clock here at twenty seven seconds remaining.
Bulldogs will have a second down to be second and
seventeen when we come back tied at seven at Bulldogs Datium.
You're listen, no Opa like a football. I'm the kicker
(01:16:26):
out of the time out, second and nineteen for Opalaikah.
Bulldogs Now from there on a forty seven yard line
and it will be second down to nineteen here for
opalaika Young out of the shot. Only two passes attempted
by Young, so actually three trips to the right side,
(01:16:46):
single receiver to the left side for Opalaika. Now stoppage
and play I believe the play clock was not ready
and set oath and leading Auburn twenty to fourteen. And
(01:17:09):
a score update from that one. They're Jason Lee passing
that along and right now Opelikah is Auburn High fans
tonight due to the playoffs. And we'll get into more
of that coming up in halftime. But do not need
a dothe and win tonight there and they're up. Here's
(01:17:31):
a throat to Andre Van here on the near side,
Van at the fifteen and I spin moving down to
the forty nine yard line and they'll keep the clock
a running. Our clock's out with twenty one seconds left.
It'll be third down. Bulldogs take another time out here
Opelika and Carver tied at seven. Bulldogs with a time
(01:17:53):
out on the field, it'll be a third and fourteen
for Opalika. Run a third and fifteen when we come back.
You're listen to bull football. I'm the kicker. Twenty three
seconds left, third and fifteen coming up. Pro poliankat just
twenty three seconds left, and if you can get it
(01:18:14):
around the forty, inside the forty, you make and try
a Reese Beasley field goal. It would be a long one.
We know Reese has a heck of a leg. But
right now the Dogs are gonna have to probably go
to the air here without any time out. So just
twenty three seconds left, Coach McCracken, what do you think.
Speaker 6 (01:18:28):
I think, look for mister Van down the field.
Speaker 3 (01:18:31):
All right, maybe the Dogs take a shot here, Carver
backing off on the coverage a little bit here, Loan
back as Jordan Waits, Young gets it and no, they'll
hand it nice run inside the forty and CJ. Johnson
actually was on the run there and short of the
first down, and the Bulldogs are not going to be
able to stop the clock. And now Bennett Young is
(01:18:52):
down on the field, and Bennett Young, who's been injured
a lot this season, is down on the field right now.
Clock stop right now with eleven seconds left, and field
(01:19:12):
goal team is coming out onto the field. But Bennett
you certainly hope he's okay. Bennett has been one of
those Bulldog players that's been dealing with a knee injury
this season, and he's up on his feet and now
(01:19:34):
he comes walking off the field hopefully Okay. You can
see he's certainly does not look as though like he's
in some pain. One final shot here, a fourth down play.
Fuller Young will take a shot towards the end zone,
trying to get it to Andre Van. He got pushed
(01:19:55):
from behind, but they're going to say incomplete, no flag thrown,
and that will be the final play in the way
this half ends by shoving the back there andre Van,
but it falls incomplete and we'll stay tied at seven.
As the Bulldogs getting ready to head into the locker room,
we'll head down on the field and check in with
coach Brian Moore as Mack McCracken will catch up with
(01:20:20):
the head coach. Tied at seven here in a hard
fought game against the Carver Wolverines and Bulldogs certainly were
hoping to come away with some points, not only on
that one, but had the ball down at the five
yard line at one point and came away with no points.
Ain't mccracking. Coach is behind you around the thirty yard line,
(01:20:41):
Just in case you didn't see you in there. See
what coach Brian Moore has to say dogs and Wolverines
right now to battle here tied at seven.
Speaker 9 (01:20:50):
All right, Mac, thanks a lot of coach Moore. Hey
only seven points right now to the Carver Wolves. Your
defense is playing pretty good. How do we continue it?
Speaker 6 (01:20:58):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (01:20:58):
Yeah, I mean they're playing good. I mean we got
to keep them backed up. We have a chance, you know,
let them drive and didn't see some field position opportunities
that we had. But you know, ultimately, you know we're
playing hard. You know, we got to hit a couple
of plays. Offensively, I think we can run the football
we have. We just got to stay on the grass
and turn out first downs. Uh, you know, first five
minutes are really important. We're gona kick the ball off
(01:21:18):
to them, and we got to get a stop and
get the ball back to our offense.
Speaker 9 (01:21:21):
I Suppo was gonna tell you, you know, offensively, you
know you were about them stuff in the box. But
I see it a little change in the open like offense,
a little you know, wildcats, some uh you know, different
people getting the ball.
Speaker 6 (01:21:32):
You know, do you see this?
Speaker 5 (01:21:33):
Just to keep going for the second half, yeah, I mean,
especially we win out, you know, fuller stepping up and
you know he has to experience, which is good, but
we'll have to continue some walk out runs. It'll be
helpful for us AHI.
Speaker 6 (01:21:44):
Coach.
Speaker 3 (01:21:44):
Let's go get them time, all right, that's back McCracken
and talking with coach Brian Or. We're tied at seven
with Carver here Bulldog Stadium. Very important game tonight here
inside Bulldog Stadium, and we'll be back Jason Lee alongside
with coach Spitch McCracken. We'll continue with our halftime here
for Bulldog Stadium after this here on the kicker back
(01:22:10):
here in signed Bulldogs Stadium. As we get ready for
the second half, Opolaika will have to kick it off
to Carver and let's head down for a four seasons
Federal Credit Union sideline report and check out with Mac McCracken. Mac,
what was the vibe of the locker room? What was
said to the team there at the half? Well, the
vibe was, you know.
Speaker 9 (01:22:25):
Pretty much all positive by the Dogs coaching staff Metts separately.
Speaker 6 (01:22:30):
Coach Board just now addressed the.
Speaker 9 (01:22:32):
Team right there on the thirty five yard line after
warm up, so you know they.
Speaker 6 (01:22:35):
Know what they got to do.
Speaker 9 (01:22:36):
Like you said, the destinies in their own hands, and
you know, see if we can get you know, a
stop and keep that keep that quarterback to no more points,
you know, that offense, and I think we'll be okay.
But you know, offensively, you know, I noticed, you know
when you were talking. I know Jason and Dad were
talking about, you know, find the way with the running.
Speaker 6 (01:22:54):
Game, you know, to get full of mixed up with what.
Speaker 9 (01:22:57):
Was with a couple of you know, either short passes
or some completions.
Speaker 6 (01:23:01):
Built up some confidence.
Speaker 9 (01:23:02):
There just to go with that running game because you
know they're stocking that box. But defensively, you know, Coach
Massey and there was pretty much pretty much positives on
his adjustments and just thinking of what they're gonna do.
Of course, I know number one is to stop the quarterback. Offensively,
going to try to just keep moving that ball.
Speaker 6 (01:23:19):
Down the field, boys, and let's get a dub.
Speaker 3 (01:23:21):
All right, Mac, I score update for you here. I
know you're a big Dodger fan and Dodgers leading to
nothing right now in Toronto. Okay, incorrect on the Dodger fan,
O Cubby's baby. All right, I'm with you on that one,
all right, Mac, cos you just Federal Credit Union sideline
reports tonight. Mac McCracken will be keeping us updated now
if you're just joining us. Opelaika had to make a
(01:23:44):
quarterback change there in the first half. Wit Cooper went out.
Fuller Young is in injury to wit Cooper will keep
him sideline the remainder of the game, so it will
be Fuller Young the junior quarterback who will stay in
the ball game at quarterback for the Bolldagers. All a
wildcat there in the first half from Oklaika to try
to change things up. We saw that before the quarterback change.
(01:24:08):
Here's Opelikahs Reese Beasley out of the locker room here
to start the second half. As we're tied at seven
here between Opelikah and Carver in a pivotal game here
for the Bulldogs. The season may be hanging in the
balance here tonight in Bulldog State and depending on what
happens around the state tonight and over end kick and
it goes well into the end zone, not able to
give this talented Carver team a shot at a return
(01:24:30):
which is always big and a seven to seven ball game,
and we'll see Zion Crumpton and this high powered Carver
offence out first and ten for their on twenty yard
line and coach McCracken, boy could use the three and
out here to start the second half.
Speaker 6 (01:24:44):
Boy, you're not kidding, You are not kidding on that one.
Van Earyy.
Speaker 3 (01:24:49):
Things are going so tough on offense at times, and
it's taken such a monumental effort to get down the field.
You don't want to play from behind and open of
the Bulldog defense can give the offense back to football
and keep this seven seven tied. Crumpton and the offense
will come out with three receivers to the right, single
receiver to the left, actually two receivers to the left.
(01:25:11):
Now they'll bring a man in motion Williams from right
to left. They'll give Williams the ball on the speed
sweep far side of the field, trying to get the sidelines.
Nice tackle on the far side of the field by
the Bulldog's Braiden Howard, but not before Mackay Williams was
able to pick up close to six yards up to
the twenty six yard lines. We'll be second down in
four for the Wolverines.
Speaker 6 (01:25:34):
Tacking the edge right there.
Speaker 3 (01:25:38):
Bulldog defense shifts and a head started there by the
wide receiver. He was about twenty yards down field and
the ball wasn't snapped. Boy back them up. So that's
going to be almost like a no gain on that
last play. It'll be second down in nine now for
the Wolverines. Good don't see that very often, do you, coach? Oh, sir,
(01:25:59):
I didn't even know going down, Mkay Williams. He was
about in the thirty five yard line. They hadn't even
snapped it. Second down to nine from the twenty one
yard line. Here's a run play. Nice tackle there on
the line of scrimmage by Trey Stone, and he will
keep that run to a pickup of four up to
the twenty five yard line. So the third down and five,
(01:26:19):
that was a great tackle, Yes it was. Trey got
just enough to trip him up.
Speaker 6 (01:26:25):
Huge play right here.
Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
Trey Stones had a really good game playing there in
the linebacker position. It's been pretty much Stone and Burks tonight.
Third and five, quarterback drops back, Crumpton, pressured, steps up
in the pocket and a lot of traffic and he's
sacked back at the twenty two yard line. Josh Davis,
welcome back. He was sidelined last week. He comes back,
(01:26:49):
makes a big sack there. It's fourth and nine. Carver's
gonna have to punt it to the Bulldogs.
Speaker 7 (01:26:56):
Had a boy, Josh, your mom my, Daddy'd be proud
of you on that one.
Speaker 3 (01:27:02):
Bob Gosh Davis, one of those seniors here on Senior
Night comes over and it was the Bulldog crowd to
get on their feet. Now. Andre Man stands at around
the forty four yard line awaiting this punt from Ci
and Crumpton around the eight yard line to catch this snap.
Slow snap got back there though, an end over end kick.
Speaker 6 (01:27:21):
That's good.
Speaker 3 (01:27:22):
How you could go down at the forty five yard
line and rolls down to the forty four so the
Bulldogs again will have a pretty good field position. Opalika
will start from their own forty four yard line. First
and ten or Miny're coming to you from the Orthopedic
Clinic Broadcast Booth, East Alabama's go to center for orthopedic
care online at the Orthoclinic dot com. Two locations to
(01:27:45):
serve you, Lakeside Circle in Auburn and Medical Arts Center
in Opalaikah, Opelikah. First and ten Bulldogs from their own
forty four yard line. CS and the tailback for the Bulldogs.
Two wides to the left side, single receiver to the right.
Now man in motion. Washington goes from right to left.
(01:28:07):
They'll fake get inside handed to Washington, throw it out
here near side to Washington, turns it upfield. He's got
the first down as Jalen Washington gets cross midfield down
to the Carver forty four yard line. That's a pickup
of twelve yards. A great job there, play action there
by Fuller and got a good pass out to Washington
(01:28:27):
in the flats. Go Aloch down to the Carver forty
four yard line of White down either side. CJ. Johnson
steal the back field for the Bulldogs. Fuller out of
the shotgun, gets the snap, hands the ball to CJ.
CJ got a block inside the forty and CJ's down
to the thirty nine yard line, and that's a pickup
of five yards. Good play on first down, second down
(01:28:50):
and five for the Bulldogs down to the Carver thirty
nine yard line.
Speaker 6 (01:28:54):
NATA drive just like we're heading the first half.
Speaker 3 (01:28:56):
Then nine thirty three here in the third quarter, tight
at seven at Bulldogs Stadium, Opalaka is football at the
Carver thirty nine. Young gets the snap, hands it in
the backfield this time keying in on that run and
CJ's gonna be brought down for a loss of two
maybe three. They're gonna mark him down actually back to
(01:29:17):
the thirty eight yard line. It's a loss of three,
and it'll be third down and seven. Actually third and eight.
It's a big negative play there. On that loss of three,
it'll be third down and eight. Now at the Carver
(01:29:39):
forty two. Young changing his play at the line of
scrimmage and receiver either side. They're gonna go run play
again to CJ. And CJ's brought down in the backfield
again and sling them down. Let's get fifteen yards. They're
gonna drive him back and it will be punning time
for the Bulldogs. Hopeful. I had good field position there,
(01:30:02):
had some good positive yards, but negative play put the
Bulldogs behind the chains there everything. I have to punt
it back to Carver. Fourth down and ten at the
Carver forty three. Freeze easily to punt it. Stands it
around the forty three to await the snap. Got a
(01:30:23):
good one there and a high punt hangs in the
air for a long time. Faircatch called forth the eighteen
yard line and it was taken by Kamari Jackson. That's
where Carver will take over first and ten from there
on eighteen yard line. Eight o one to play here
in the third quarter. Well, you feel like, coach, you're
just gonna have to take advantage of these opportunities offensively.
Speaker 12 (01:30:46):
We've got to do We've got to I don't explain
this except that we have gotten to be able to
do more than they do when we have the ball.
Speaker 7 (01:30:56):
And that was just a complete whitewash. And they've got
a little advantage on us, just a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:31:07):
Yeah, they got a lot of playmakers on offense right now.
The defense is holding them in check, but you just
don't know how long they can do it. Yep, tied
at seven. Carver back with the football from they're on
eighteen and Crumpton's going to drop back, takes a chunk
down field and he's got a guy wide open, lays
out and makes a heck of a grab at the
thirty five yard line. And just on queue there with
coach McCracken talking about their playmakers, that's what I say.
(01:31:29):
And they hit a pass all the way down to
the thirty six yard line. That's a forty six yard
throwing catch and a first down for the Wolverines. A
heck of a snag there by the wide receiver of
the Wolverines and Carver's marching band continues to make the
noises their offenses on the field. Two wides to the right,
(01:31:51):
three receivers to the left side. We're tied at seven
for the moment here, but Carver hits a big play
down field and they got a first down at the ope,
like a thirty six yard line Crumpton Rpo play. Now
we'll keep it runs here to the near side, broke
a tackle, spins, but he's gonna be brought down at
the thirty five yard line. Good tackle by Jamel Griffin
(01:32:14):
and picked up maybe a half a yard to the
thirty five yard line, and it will be second down
to nine upcoming here for the Wolverines. Seven twelve to
play here in the third quarter, remaining tied at seven
at the moment here between Opalike and Carver. If its
has got to come up big Van, yeah, we could
use a big pick six here, turnover something to spark
(01:32:38):
this offense for Opelika hand off up the middle. Good
job to Opelika defending that one. Not much there at
all for Elijah Tarbor picked up two yards maybe down
to the thirty three yard line, and it will set
up a third down huge play right here. Jay Holloway
(01:33:00):
in on the stop there for the Bulldogs. And here's
a big third and seven maybe four down territory here
for the Wolverines. Play action. They're trying to throw it
out into the flats. Tripped up the wide receiver and
he stays on his feet. He gets the first down
down to the twenty five yard line. Bulldogs just missed
a tackle for loss there. Antonius Peters almost had him,
(01:33:22):
but he gets down to the twenty five, picks up
eight yards enough for the car for first down.
Speaker 6 (01:33:26):
Oh boy, we can't miss these tackles.
Speaker 3 (01:33:31):
Six thirteen clock continues to run here in the third quarter.
We're tied at seven here at Bulldog Stadium. The Wolverines
have three receivers to the right, single receiver to the left,
Crumpton out of the shot gun, Tarvor running back to
the right. Now they'll bring a man in motion from
right to left. Crumpton gets the snap, it'll be a
straight hand off up the middle to Tarfor broke a
(01:33:51):
tackle at the fifteen inside the ten dropped down from
behind inside the five yard line. He's going to be
down around the two yard line. Jameel Griffin there on
the touchdown save and tackle. But the Wolverine's going to
be set up first in goal at the three yard
line of Opalaika here with five forty six to play
in the third, we.
Speaker 7 (01:34:13):
Have to be able to match them offensively. Van we
have we have to come up with a couple more
things to do. Don't have much time left.
Speaker 3 (01:34:24):
One wide out to the right, three receivers to the left,
and Crumpton will go out of the shotgun. Tarvor, the
tail back to the right, drops back and wants thro
a fade pass in the end zone and it's incomplete.
Trying to get it to Tyler Grant and good coverage
there by the Bulldogs Jay battle over there and coverage
(01:34:46):
for Opalaiko second down and goal from the two. Five
seventeen to play here in the third, Carver trying to
break the tie here seven to seven, two yards away
from the end zone. Carver kind of spinning around huddle
here like a merry go round, and they'll break the huddle.
(01:35:10):
Hopefully they're dizzy after all that, and it's going to
be a wild cat look from zero when he takes
it in the end zone for the touchdown. That's Cadell's
sharp and he takes it in after the merry go
round play and it's a thirteen to seven ball game,
five fourteen, and here comes the extra point for the Wolverines,
(01:35:31):
Carver's first lead of the game. It comes with five
to fourteen to go here in the third quarter, and
the extra point attempt from Javier Cano Camanie Clary wide
receiver will hold snap good and that extra point is
(01:35:55):
up and good. So Carver leads fourteen to seven, their
first lead of the game with five four thirteen to
play in the third. We're back after this time out.
You'll listen to no pela like a Bulldog football here
on the kicker Hope Alike has been really good in
(01:36:16):
one possession games this season. The only one they've lost
was to Auburn back here in week number three. That
was a seventeen to ten loss. Other than that, the
Bulldogs have won all the close games they've been in.
They got a close one here fourteen to seven. But
Carver's on top and the offense is gonna have to
get something going. Maybe it could be a big return here. CJ. Johnson.
He's hit at the thirty CJ bounced off one tackler,
(01:36:39):
gets up to the thirty two yard line, and that's
where the offense for Oplaika, which has really struggled tonight
moving the football consistently, especially since the loss of starting
quarterback went Cooper Hope Alike, has been very limited through
the air and all tonight and Coach, you got to
feel like you got to go through the air point
(01:37:00):
here to try to get something going, and Carver's really
buckled down on the run game. It will be first
and ten Oplaika from their own thirty two yard line.
I'm gonna go out of the shotgun now. He'll bring
(01:37:21):
Washington in motion and they'll fake it to Washington. A
quick insight give to Blake Johnson. That was a well
designed play. Johnson gets across the thirty five up to
around the thirty seven yard line, close to six yards
on the.
Speaker 11 (01:37:34):
Carriage Homa Bay by Albarry and.
Speaker 3 (01:37:36):
Bullets number four. It'll be a gain of five yards.
Second down in five coming up here for the Bulldogs
for forty five to play here in the third Carver
leading fourteen to seven, Dogs trying to get any kind
of creative run game they can get going here with
Carver ken in on that run, here's Jordan Waits and
Jordan Waits hit at the line of scrimmage and loss
(01:37:58):
the yard back to the thirty six yard line, so
a loss of one. It'll be third down and six
coming up here for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 6 (01:38:10):
Play lost foot yard four.
Speaker 3 (01:38:12):
Point fifteen to play here in the third trips receivers
to the left side, and again Waits is the loan
back here for fuller Young Young a hard count. Carver
nearly jumped and was able to get back on side.
Blake Johnson'll line up to the right, Young can changing
his play here at the line of scrimmage. Blake locked
(01:38:34):
down to five, down to four, down, down to three
and two. They'll empty the backfield and a quick inside
pitched to Blake and Carver on top of that one.
Blake says he wasn't down, but they blew him down
back at the thirty four yard line. Fourth down of
the Bulldogs. You got to punt it back to Carver
here with three thirty six to play in the third quarter,
(01:38:54):
and again Bulldogs trying to get something going offensively. On
the ground and Carver just really keying in on it,
and Opelika's been unable to bust a run here while
I continues to run down there. Three twenty to play
here in the third quarter, and the Wolverines deep pan
stands inside the twenty five yard line, and Reee Beasley
(01:39:16):
will try it back to punt this one away line
of scrimmage for the Bulldogs. They're on thirty four yard line.
Now they must stop coming up here for the Bulldogs
on defense, keep this a one possession game right now.
Good snap, Reee puts a nice boot into this one.
(01:39:37):
He gives his kicking team plenty of time to get
down field and it will be down that around the
seventeen yard line. So a good job of punting there by,
Reese Beasley. Good job to hang up there, little Rugby
style kick on the run, but gave us coverage team
plenty of time to get down field, and now the
Wolverines will have it from their on seventeen yard line.
(01:40:03):
Forty seven yard punting there by, Rhys Beasley. Go ahead, coach,
I'm sorry, this is it. This is the this is
the game n the season right here. Yeah, you don't
want to get down two? Is that two scores this team?
The way things are going tonight, Crumpton, here's a double
handoff back far side of the field. This is McCoy
(01:40:24):
getting the sidelines and he's got the first down up
to the thirty five yard line. That play will pick
up eighteen yards and a first down for Carver down.
So the Wolverines up to the thirty five yard line,
first down and ten two thirty to play. Here in
the third quarter, Carver leading fourteen to seven here at
(01:40:47):
Bulldog Stadium, and they're back with the football. All the
momentum on the Wolverine side here in the second half,
trips receivers to the right side, ground game Tarvor across
the forty and up to the forty two yard line,
round seven yard there to page seven, yours take it
(01:41:07):
down a three.
Speaker 6 (01:41:13):
Come on, guys, somebody make a play.
Speaker 3 (01:41:15):
Sick it down in three for the Wolverines with their
on forty two yard line. Two receivers right, single receiver
to the left. There's a throw tipped in the air,
picked up by the Bulldogs. That's just what we needed
down the sidelines, a pick six touch down Bulldogs. We
are just to point away from time this one up
Braiding Howard a pick six. He tipped it in the
air to himself and he takes it in.
Speaker 7 (01:41:43):
Oh boy, oh boy.
Speaker 6 (01:41:45):
That's what we needed that to happen.
Speaker 3 (01:41:48):
Oh yes, sir, Braiding Howard read that one nicely jumped
the route, tipped it in the air down the sidelines
on the far side of the field for six.
Speaker 13 (01:41:59):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:42:00):
Now here is Reees Beasley for a chance to tie
this game up with one forty two to play, and
I think the quarterback Crumpton there just got a little
too casual throwing it out there, and that Bulldog defense
was waiting on that one puller Young for the hole.
The extra point is up.
Speaker 6 (01:42:19):
It is good.
Speaker 3 (01:42:20):
We are tied at one.
Speaker 10 (01:42:22):
Forty two to go in the third here at Bulldog Stadium.
Speaker 3 (01:42:26):
What a scoring drive. A pick six powered by opal
like a power services hometown people working for you all
knighted up at fourteen and we're back after this here.
I'm the kicker well opalike and needed a defensive score
(01:42:46):
and they got one. A pick six by Braden Howard,
his fourth interception of the season, and the Bulldogs tying
up at fourteen with one forty two to play. Here
in the third quarter, and here's rees Beasley to kick
this one off. And I'm not saying I would kick
it on side kick, but if I was Carver, I
would be on high alert here.
Speaker 6 (01:43:06):
That was the big play that we're making. We're waiting
on togy. That's their first turnover.
Speaker 2 (01:43:11):
Yes it is.
Speaker 3 (01:43:14):
See if Reese just may kick this through the end zone.
There it is end over, end out to pull out
of the back of the end zone and Carve will
have it from their own twenty yard line. Boy, play
of the game right now, for sure for Opelika Opaka's
offensive struggled. Boy, they needed their defense to pick them up.
And oh the heck of a play by Braden Howard
(01:43:34):
Van Riggs Jason. This defense right here, this has to
be the best defensive three plays of the night.
Speaker 6 (01:43:45):
Can't let them have this momentum back.
Speaker 2 (01:43:48):
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:43:48):
So here comes trumping in the offense their first turnover
of the game, and boy, it was a costly one.
It was a pick six and two whiteouts either side.
And Tarboro'll be the loan back for the Wolverines. See
what Carver does. They'll bring a man in motion. They'll
take it to the motion man hand off to Tarbor
and he goes nowhere. He's dropped down right at the
twenty yard line. No gain on the play. Baby TJ
(01:44:12):
was THEREJ Thomas and also number fifty five Money Thomas
there as well.
Speaker 6 (01:44:17):
No game, No game.
Speaker 3 (01:44:18):
Second and ten one twenty five running here in the
third quarter.
Speaker 6 (01:44:22):
Got them thinking, now, Bob think I got them thinking.
Speaker 3 (01:44:26):
If I'm the cornerbacks, I'm on a high alert for
another chunk play down field here on this one rushing
forward looks like under one ten to play here in
the third tide at fourteen here at Bulldogs Stadium, Come on,
d come on Crumpton. Out of the shot gun, Tarbor
to his left. Crumpton, play action the quarterback gonna keep
it and he's hit and brought down in the backfield.
(01:44:47):
What a nice play, Baby TJ brings him down for
a loss of three. It will be third and thirteen
coming up for the Wolverines and the Bugs playing sea fence.
Speaker 6 (01:45:01):
Terress. Thomas anders the game over that at that end.
Speaker 3 (01:45:06):
So here we go third and thirteen Carver pressure Fresh
Marines with thirty three seconds remaining here in the third quarter,
got five rushing trips right single receiver left here for Crumpton,
the senior quarterback out of the shotgun, gets the snap,
pressure comes from the Bulldogs. He steps up in the pocket.
There's a holding flag down as he takes off, and
(01:45:27):
he's going to be knocked out of bound short of
the first down. But there's going to be a holding
penalty back in the backfield as the white hat threw
it in the backfield, and there's a hold against Carver.
And I know Palaika will take this. It was like
it may be a fourth and one, but I believe
the Bulldogs are going to take that hole. Back them
up here with thirteen seconds remain.
Speaker 6 (01:45:49):
Take them back. It's a holding penalty on Carver.
Speaker 3 (01:45:54):
Yes, it is a hold against Carver.
Speaker 6 (01:45:56):
Take them all the way back to.
Speaker 3 (01:45:57):
The Yeah, I don't think he trust him on a
fourth thirteen seconds to go here in the third quar
and now to be a third down and twenty one
is it'll replay the down, So fourteen fourteen is the
score pressure. I think coach Moore wanted to know where
(01:46:21):
the spot was, just to make sure and a little
like he was about a yard shy of the first down.
See coach More is coming over and having a conversation
with a white hand. I think he wants to know
where the spot would.
Speaker 5 (01:46:35):
Be, just to confirm.
Speaker 3 (01:46:40):
If he's four yards short and it's a fourth and four,
I think he does want to climbe it. So he
is he is going to decline it. He did, yes,
So I think it is going to be a lot
shorter of a fourth down, a lot longer of a
fourth down than what we originally thought where he went
out of bounds. So they've got to get the long
I ain't got to decline, so the penalty will be declined.
(01:47:04):
Now we'll be fourth down and oh, I don't mac McCracken,
how long is that gonna be? They got this thing?
What you got back?
Speaker 9 (01:47:12):
Fourth down and they're punting right here, and let's go
get this thing on the block.
Speaker 3 (01:47:15):
Yeah, I agree, So it is it's about fourth and
six here. Yeah, So it's a last fourth and four.
So I think that's what they were saying. It was
a fourth and four. We were thinking maybe a fourth
down in one, but it will be fourth and four
and Carver's gonna take it to the fourth quarter here.
They're not gonna get the snap off and it will
be the fourth quarter at Bulldog Stadium, We're tied at fourteen.
(01:47:37):
Bulldogs have been great in close ball games. They'll take
a tight one to the fourth here, and the Bulldogs
set to get the football back to start the fourth
quarter when we come back here, let's know, but like
a Bulldog football Here on the kicker.
Speaker 11 (01:47:49):
W KKR Auburn Opalik his league, County's Best Country ninety
seven point seven kicker FM and iHeart Country Station.
Speaker 3 (01:48:05):
Fourth and four Wolverines. Maeah, they're back in punt formation.
Gotta be on high alert here. Brumpton's gonna fake it.
He's running, he's in trouble, breaks a tackle, and he's
gonna be hit broped out of the twenty yard line.
What a great play. Carver tried to go for a
fake punt.
Speaker 10 (01:48:24):
Isaiah Gray says, no, Surrey brings him out to the
twenty one yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:48:28):
What a huge playing a tight game to start the
fourth corner.
Speaker 10 (01:48:31):
Carver gambles on a fourth and four and the Bulldogs
stop them.
Speaker 3 (01:48:37):
Want to play coach from the.
Speaker 6 (01:48:38):
Crackown, Carl Lady old man Hey.
Speaker 3 (01:48:43):
Now the Bulldogs first and ten at the Carver twenty
one with eleven fifty to play, and maybe that'll give
the spark godfense needs to punch one in here and
tie a game at fourteen with eleven fifty to play,
and it'll be an I formation sponsored by Johnson.
Speaker 6 (01:48:57):
And Johnson rode the box up. Oh, we ain't gonna throw.
Speaker 3 (01:49:03):
CJ. Johnson in the backfield, dotting the I formation, a
quick hand off to Blake Johnson, and Blake stood up
at the line of scrimmage as he gets down to
the right at the twenty yard line, picked up one
yard eleven thirty three to play it of each second
(01:49:24):
down and nine and you know right here you can
pretty much paint. You're in Rehees Beasley range. You want
to get in the end zone for a touchdown right
as a tie game, you don't want to turn the
ball over. I know it's kind of a it's a tough,
tough game for the offensive coordinator. Right here, it's a
(01:49:44):
wildcat look now with Jordan Waits, and Waits runs to
the left side and Waits down close to the sixteen
yard line. So four yard pickups. That'll be a third
and five coming up here for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 4 (01:49:59):
Before on the Mary and Hilly.
Speaker 6 (01:50:01):
What you gonna run here? Van Well?
Speaker 3 (01:50:04):
I think you well that was a very not a
great spot, and I thought it was a lot closer
than that. They only mark him down at the eighteen
yardly yards, so it's a third and six or about
a third and seven.
Speaker 5 (01:50:18):
Here, Carver.
Speaker 6 (01:50:19):
Carver's not even thinking throw all.
Speaker 3 (01:50:21):
Right, Jordan Waits and C. J. Johnson again in the
wildcat here on third and seven. Waits runs to the
right side and Waits is town close to the fifteen.
The mark them shy of the fifteen down to the sixteen,
only picked up two yards, and now they're gonna kick
a field goal. So it's got to get points here
in this situation, typh for ease opportunity, it was certainly.
Speaker 6 (01:50:46):
And we get We get six yards third yards of
three downs.
Speaker 3 (01:50:50):
Thirty three yard field goal attempt here with ten oh
three to play, and we got nine to fifty nine remaining,
and I see if Reee. Beasley can punt this one through,
kick this one through here seven for ten on field goals.
This will be in inside the left hash kick was
good and it is through the uprights. Hold good kick
(01:51:13):
up and the Bulldogs take the seventeen to fourteen lead
with nine forty five to play in the ball game.
And the Bulldogs are back with the lead after a
big field goal there by Reese Beasley. Score drive power
by OPLEAA Power Services hometown people working for you online
at Opelikah power dot com. We're back after this word
(01:51:33):
from the city of Opalaika. Bulldogs take the lead on
a thirty three yard field goal by Reese Beasley. We
got nine forty five to play, and this one long
from over here. But the Bulldogs are up seventeen to
fourteen and getting ready to kick the football back to
(01:51:55):
the Carver Wolverines, and Reese comes in and quicks a
kicks a short squib kick to the far side of
the field and it goes out of bounds, and that
will give the Wolverines good field position. I think the
Bulldogs are trying to catch Carver napping there maybe, and
but it goes out of bounds, so the Wolverines will
have a really good field position near midfield on that kick.
(01:52:21):
With nine forty five to play, Wolverine's gonna have football
bending on where they spot this looks like them about
the forty five yard line. So you give up a
lot of field position.
Speaker 6 (01:52:39):
On that kicks, Yeah, we did.
Speaker 3 (01:52:45):
Wolverens will have it from their own forty five yard
line almost at midfield. After that kick, nine forty five
to play, the Wolverines back out now with the football
from their own forty five yard line, trips right, single
receiver left, crumped it straight, hand off to Tarvor and
he's up to midfield. You know, they five yard run
(01:53:07):
there by Tarbor before Norman Matthews brings him down. So
Wolverines at midfield now with nine at twenty nine to
play here in the game, and a touchdown by the
Wolverines gives them the lead. Right back here in this
fourth quarter, trips right singer receiver to the left, crumpting again,
hands it to Tarbor and nice tackle there by Leakedrick
Burke See brings down Tarbor at the line of scrimmage
(01:53:29):
for no gain. And it's third and five. When Carver
went forward on their own twenty four yard line. You
know they're probably going to go for it at midfield,
but the Bulldog defense states to get the crown on
their feet. And here with nine minutes left in the game,
seventeen fourteen, o Palaika with the lead and the Bulldog
(01:53:51):
crowded seventeen fourteen and hold on defense trying to get
another stop here at midfield, Carver with the football, third
down and five trips to the right side. Trumpton play action.
He rolls to the right, pressure comes hit from the backside, slip,
(01:54:12):
broke a tackle, stays on his feet, slipped another tackle
at the forty at the thirty five, broke another tackle,
and he's inside the twenty, still on his feet, bouncing
off defenders like a pinball, and he's finally brought down
to the thirteen yard line. Their late flag comes in
at around the twenty two yard line. There's two four
(01:54:32):
OPALAKA players down on the play and there's a flag
on the play boy, oh boy. Crumpton almost brought down
about four times in the backfield somehow stayed on his feet.
A blind side block against Carver will back them up,
but that's going to be well down field. They still
(01:54:53):
will have a first down, but it's gonna gain a
lot of This run here from Zion Crumpton is that fifteen.
It'll be a fifteen yard penalty money Thomas shaking up
on the play. He comes off the field and Carver
(01:55:14):
will have it looks like around them depending on where
this penalty happened, I'm gonna have it at the forty
yard line.
Speaker 5 (01:55:23):
It looks like.
Speaker 14 (01:55:26):
Hard down Carver from the Dog forty one yard.
Speaker 3 (01:55:29):
Line, all right, So they'll pick up about ten yards
on the play. They'll say that the forty one yard
line is the line of scribbage. Now first and ten,
eight fourteen to play. Seventeen fourteen Opelaka with the lead,
but Carver at the Opelika forty one yard line. First
and ten, quick hand off to Tarbor. Bust through the middle.
(01:55:50):
He's inside the thirty and stef armed a defender at
the twenty five and he's down close to the twenty
two yard line. Teres Thomas on the stop. A first
down at the twenty two yard line, and that's close
to eighteen yards and a first down run there by Tarbor.
(01:56:10):
Hurry to the line of scrimmage. Another hand off to Tarboro.
This time he's brought down Isaiah Gray, the junior in
there for no game I stopped. So a good stop
there by Isaiah Gray. Seven forty three to play and
they second down in eleven coming up. Now Carver's got
it at the Bulldog twenty three yard line. Now Tarboro
will get a breather and they'll bring a number forty
(01:56:33):
two Cameron Levin trips to the right, single receiver to
the left, well handed the levee, and he's tackled right
at the line of scrimmage. Good job there again by
Isaiah Gray. And also number ninety nine Carson Riddle. It'll
be third and eleven coming up for Carver, and you
know it's gonna be four down territory here for the Wolverines.
They don't quite have the kicker Ropaalika does to try.
Speaker 7 (01:56:55):
To that guy can kick it from I saw him
kick it it for the twenty van and I think
you can make a thirty yarder, all.
Speaker 3 (01:57:03):
Right, So six fifty three to go here in the ballgame,
seventeen to fourteen Okolaka with the lead of the a
third and eleven coming up for the Wolverines at the
twenty two yard line of Okolaka. Here goes Prumpton, dropping
back pressure, comes slips a tackle, but not that one.
(01:57:26):
He's down right at the line of scrimmage. A nice
stop there by the Bulldogs and was Leakedrick burts in
there on the stop and he is slow to get up.
Both Lakedrick and the quarterback are both slow to get up.
I don't think you're okay. And then they just got
tied up on each other. Lakedrick coming back from a
(01:57:47):
broken arm in the Auburn game, and it'll be fourth
down an eleven. Carver will keep the outfits on the field.
Speaker 6 (01:57:52):
Oh, they're gonna go for this down, you love.
Speaker 3 (01:57:56):
Quarterback Crumpton kind of stretching his leg like he may
be ready to run for one. They'll bring Tarbor back
in the game, Elijah Tarborth, the running back.
Speaker 6 (01:58:05):
They're gonna either to do that or throw the ball,
throw the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:58:08):
Down the field. Well, they're gonna think about it. They'll
take a time out of fourth down and ten coming
up for the Wolverines as they trail by three, seventeen fourteen,
with five fifty eight to play. We're back after this
time out. You're listening to Bulldog football here on the
kicker back here at Bulldog Stadium, seventeen fourteen, Opelaika with
(01:58:32):
the lead five fifty eight to play in a huge
down for this Bulldog defense coming up as Carver comes
back out on the field, fourth and ten, going for
it inside there, Opelika twenty five down at the Opelaka
twenty three yard line. Prumpting out of the shotgun, gets
the snamp, rolls to the right, and a whistle comes in.
(01:58:54):
It's going to be a false start against the Wolverines.
Now we'll make this around a fourth and fifteen. Now
for Carver, I'm not sure it changes their decision at all.
They're gonna keep the offense out on the field. It
was either gonna be a punter going for it, but
now the line of scrimmage will be the Opal like
(01:59:14):
a twenty eight yard line. Gotta keep the quarterback contain
where he has hurt. Opal like it tonight, his busted
plays and with his legs.
Speaker 6 (01:59:27):
Come on, guys, come on.
Speaker 3 (01:59:28):
Getting trips to the right, crumpting out of the shotgun.
He's got a single receiver to the left, Tarbor the
tail back to the right. Crumpton gets the snap, drops back,
steps up in the pocket. He's got a run lane
and he has brought down at the seventeen short and
there is a flag down. It's gonna be a hold
on Carver. They will decline it and the Bulldog defense
(01:59:50):
is gonna come up with the stomp they needed. Good job,
Good job dogs, boy, you hold your bread anytime. Yon
Crumpton runs with the football a hole decline. Bulldogs back
with the football and Crumpton is being carried off her field.
I believe so, yeah, yeah, his ankle is hurt. So
(02:00:11):
the quarterback Zion Crumpton already with a Guardian cap on
tonight and he is hobbled off the field. One of
the offensive lineman picked him up like a sack of
potatoes and was carrying him off the field. Bulldogs will
start for their on eighteen yard line, and right now
the Bulldog's with the lead here seventeen fourteen to five
forty five. And boy, if you can pick some first
(02:00:32):
downs and run some clock here, Bulldogs hopefully can get
some offense. Going two white outs to the right side,
They'll bring Jalen Washington in motion. Hand off goes to
the tailback, spins across the twenty up to the twenty
one yard line. That was Jalen Nelson eight Jordan Jalen
(02:00:55):
Nelson actually picks up three yards up to the twenty one.
You gotta be second down in seven coming up here
for the Bulldogs, hoping like I'll let you get a
first down now, hopel I can let some clock run
down here come on O where else Carver loading the
box here? Yeah, they are a wide out either side. CJ. Johnson,
(02:01:19):
the tailbag Blake Johnson, the full back to the left,
and again the quarterback, full or Young out of the shotgun.
Young gets the stamp and it's the battle.
Speaker 5 (02:01:28):
CJ.
Speaker 3 (02:01:29):
There's a whole twenty five s across the thirty thirty
five SIJ just about broke it still on his feet
across the forty and he's up to the forty four
yard line. A Lambert transfer in storage first down as
he carries it for twenty three yards and a first down. Oh,
I needed that one. I was talking to some people
(02:01:50):
at halftime and they said one thing they thought Coach McCracken,
just the Bulldog fans out in the Peanut gallery, they said,
they think this Carver defense is gonna get worn down
here in the second half.
Speaker 6 (02:02:00):
I think so too.
Speaker 3 (02:02:01):
They got three or four playing both ways they do,
and I think we may see it a little bit here.
Bulldog is gonna let some clock widen on down here,
four point thirty to go in the ballgame. Bulldog's leading
seventeen to fourteen. Fuller Young, your quarterback out of the shotgun,
snapping the handoff goes to c J. C J broke
(02:02:22):
a tackle time got the lifts up to the forty
seven yard line as he picks up three yards actually
two yards and marked him out of the forty six.
Speaker 6 (02:02:36):
Boy, they didn't give him much, did the vand him.
Speaker 3 (02:02:39):
A couple three point fifty five to plate. Clock continues
to run open like a content to keep this clock
running here. Carver does have two timeouts. Second out of
eight Bulldogs wide out either side, young out of the
shotgun loan back remains c J. Johnson, and they'll give
(02:03:02):
it to CJ. Trying to run the left side, and
that time Carver busted through the line and we'll drop
the Bulldogs for a loss. It'll be third and nine.
Three twenty five continues to run here in the fourth
quarter Bulldogs and again leading by three seventeen to fourteen.
Could certainly use a big first down play here. You
(02:03:23):
got a dig in your bag of tricks to try
to pull up one here and get nine yards to
move the sticks here. You don't want to give the
football back to this Carver offense. Boy, this is big
if we could make the first down here, big down
here for opal like a third and eight, a white
out either side here, Young gets the snap. Bulldogs will
(02:03:46):
hand it off here to Jordan Waits. Waits tried to
run right and I think he got face masked. They
did not call him. Maybe had the football around there.
Carver did not take a time out. As we winde
under two forty to play, Bulldogs will have to punt
the football back as it'll be fourth down and ten
Dogs are there on the forty four yard line, and
(02:04:08):
I don't think I think Opeleka is gonna let time
wind on down and then Opelika will take a time out.
Bulldogs do have three timeouts. Carver with two, Opelike is
gonna kick their timeouts here. We'll bring the punt team
on late. Carver will send their deep man back around
the twenty yard line. Be easily stands at the thirty.
(02:04:30):
It's the snap. It's a good high booming kick into
this one drop this one. Hey does catch it at
around the nineteen yard line. The official is down at
the thirty nine yard line. He took a hit from somebody.
He's being helped up by a couple of players. But
two one to play here in the ball game. I
(02:04:51):
mean a time out on the field. Is the official
hast tended to seventeen to fourteen. Carver back with the
football and we're back after this time out here on
the kicker well, looks as though Carver will come in
with a wildcat. Look here their quarterback Zion Crumpton looked
like he was banged up the last time they were
out there. Bulldogs leading seventeen to fourteen with two oh
(02:05:14):
one to play, defense is to come up with a
vic step and they'll have to deal with the tailback,
dangerous tailback Elijah Tarbor running the wildcat quarterback here. Actually
it's zero Jevosky Barnes in a false start. All up,
Carver are going to back them up five yards.
Speaker 11 (02:05:34):
All they're finalized.
Speaker 3 (02:05:35):
Five gugs, calm start. Bulldog fans are on their feet
trying to pull their dogs through. A three seed is
at stake for both of these teams tonight. Carver has
already locked a playoff spot up the Bulldogs will have
lost tonight their playoff folks would still be up in
(02:05:57):
the air.
Speaker 6 (02:06:00):
Come on, guys, let's win the game.
Speaker 3 (02:06:02):
Two minutes away though from pulling off the wind here
at home in a tight one here against Carver, seventeen
fourteen Bulldogs with a three point lead, and the quarterback
Crumpton is back in the game. Crumpton play action, rolls
to the right, throws and it is caught, but a
very short completion up to around the twenty three yard line,
(02:06:22):
and it will be second down and around six coming up.
Tyler Grant on the reception, come.
Speaker 6 (02:06:32):
On defense pressure to quarterback to.
Speaker 3 (02:06:37):
The twenty three yard line. It will be second down
and seven. Now for the Wolverines. Crumpting out of the
shotgun again, the official blows the play dead. I don't
see any flags though, well. Coach Brian Moore on the
side is talking to the officials. I think they weren't
(02:06:58):
winding the clock. That was the clock issue was the
reason there's a stompage in play. Mack Let's sad down
for a four seasons Federal Credit Union sideline report. We
got a tight one here, Bud.
Speaker 9 (02:07:06):
Yeah, man, the side judge called him in bounds and
the clock was stopped.
Speaker 3 (02:07:10):
It never ran.
Speaker 6 (02:07:11):
So that's what coach Wore is talking about.
Speaker 3 (02:07:13):
All right, Yeah, time is certainly yeah, one f two
to go. Coach Bryan Moore trying to fight for every
second here as he should be here in a tight
ball game. Clock stopped right now, one fifty two to play.
They'll blow the clock back. It'll start under one fifty
to play. Here, second and seven for the Wolverines. Crumpton
(02:07:37):
drops back, chunks deep down field, got a man and
it's overshot. In completed the twenty five yard line. It'll
be third down coming up for the Wolverines. McKay Williams
the intended receiver. He had a step on the defense,
but it was over his head.
Speaker 6 (02:07:53):
He threw that ball seventy yards.
Speaker 3 (02:07:55):
Coach Moore showed some clips this week. If folks don't
get a chance to come to the Bulldog line at
First Baptist Church Opulaika, he showed his arm and a
couple of clips, and he says, you have got to
respect him. He can throw a seventy yards no problem.
Speaker 6 (02:08:08):
Any here we go. Let's go you front four, come on.
Speaker 3 (02:08:14):
Third down and six. Bulldog fans look to the scoreboard.
It says, make some noise and they respond. Third down six.
Crumpting out of the shotgun, drops back, steps up in
the pocket. He is gonna be hint, throws that's grounding.
There comes the flag. It should be coming in. They
have yet to throw the flag. Now it comes in,
(02:08:36):
that's intentional grounding. Crumpting through it to the ground. It'll
be of intentional grounding, loss of down, and it will
be fourth down ball game. So it'll be a fourth
down coming up here for Carver. Big time play there
by the defense not allowing Crumpton to get out of
the pocket. And I tell you, I'm not sure he's
(02:08:57):
gonna be quite as he's limping very bad in the backfield.
You can see him right now. It's fourth down, right, yes,
it'll be fourth down.
Speaker 6 (02:09:07):
Here's the game right here, boys, intentional grill day against
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (02:09:16):
Fourth and nineteen and this will be a ball gameplay
here for the defense. Carver penned back at their on
ten yard line. Coach Morris is get on your feet.
Seventeen to fourteen Bulldogs with the lead. Actually, they're moving
it back to the five yard line, so it'll be
(02:09:39):
Carver fourth and a mile. They only need to get
to the twenty nine yard line for a first down.
Fourth and twenty five. Carver with four wide receivers to
the left side. Crumpton drops back. He's in his own
end zone, trying to go to the sidelines and complete
the Bulldogs pulled him down. It will see J. Johnson
in there on defense and he comes back.
Speaker 10 (02:10:00):
It makes the play of the game turnover on downs Bulldogs,
they're gonna pull this baby off.
Speaker 3 (02:10:05):
Seventeen fourteen, one twenty to play.
Speaker 10 (02:10:09):
What a defensive stand here at Bulldog Stadium, CEEJ.
Speaker 3 (02:10:17):
Johnson. Now there is a flag on the play, and
this may be on a celebration after the play. It's
accident sportsmanlike conduct on Carver. On the coach, well, he's
halfway on the field, so I'm not sure exactly what
(02:10:38):
he's arguing about. One twenty to play. What a big
time play. Coach McCracken VI time baby, Big time players
make big time plays at big time games. And coach
Moore said CJ. Johnson, when I want my man out
there on the field, and there he was again on defense,
I don't worry.
Speaker 6 (02:10:57):
About no touchdown, just taking me. They got two timeouts left.
Speaker 3 (02:11:03):
Yep, Carver with two timeouts seventeen fourteen, Right now.
Speaker 6 (02:11:07):
Who I wouldn't even hand the ball off Dog from the.
Speaker 3 (02:11:11):
Three Dogs at the three yard line, first in goal
and it'll be an I formation here Fuller. Young will
go under center and Fuller will get the stamp. Quick
hand off to Blake Johnson towards the end zone.
Speaker 6 (02:11:32):
Touchdown bull Of.
Speaker 3 (02:11:35):
One fourteen to play. Now meet the hammer. Twenty three
fourteen Dogs try to wrap it up. Twenty three fourteen
(02:11:56):
will one fourteen to play. Time Bulldogs a little win
here tonight for lock up the three seed extra point
just up and good boy, how the world Reese got
that one through the defender. He's shot through there. But
(02:12:17):
it's good. Ten point lead here twenty four fourteen, one
fourteen to play at Bulldogs Stadium. We're back after this
time out here on the kicker. Coach McCracken's going to
a front party tonight, boys, And there's no joke in
(02:12:40):
that one.
Speaker 10 (02:12:41):
Twenty four fourteen Bulldogs with the lead here were one
fourteen to play in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 7 (02:12:48):
Hey man, I want to dedicate this game to Kenny Prescott.
Speaker 3 (02:12:52):
Yeah, it was great to see Kenny on the field.
Speaker 6 (02:12:54):
He's here, you know, he is punk.
Speaker 3 (02:12:55):
Oh he's down on the sidelines. He made sure he
told me he got his medicine in before this one.
Speaker 6 (02:13:01):
That's good.
Speaker 3 (02:13:01):
This was certainly a tough one tonight for the whole
heart that one a squibkick fielded out, the nine drop
picked up by the car of a return band gets
the sidelines and pushed out of bounds at around the
thirty guard line. Carver's deal with two timeouts, one o
week to go. Now, this one not done yet. We've
seen crazy things happen, but Carver down two scores here
(02:13:23):
twenty four to fourteen Bulldogs. What a night defensively for
the Bulldogs, and I tell you to hold this Carver
team to fourteen points so so far in the final
one o eight A masterpiece by coach Massey and his staff.
After a couple tough weeks defensively, we kind of folks,
(02:13:45):
kind of gotten on the defense, giving up some big
scores and a lot of rushing yards. And they've done
a great job tonight against this high powered Carver offense.
Crumped into the offense back out their trail now by
ten here with one O eight to play.
Speaker 7 (02:14:03):
Rushing three van. I'd like to see him bring that forth,
but I don't think.
Speaker 3 (02:14:07):
They are trips to the right, single receiver to the
left side, crumpting out of the shotgun. Crumpton gets the snap,
drops back steps up in the pocket, chunks one deep
down field and Tippton nearly picked off by Braiden Howard.
He almost had interception number five. He had a pick
six earlier in this game, which really the play of
(02:14:29):
the game. Coach, you got to go back to that
Howard pick six. Was that not the play of the game.
I know that Defens was going right there, but that
pick six, boy, that was a momentum turnout.
Speaker 5 (02:14:38):
I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (02:14:40):
Twenty four to fourteen one a minute to go here
in the game, and it will be second down in
ten here for Carver from their on twenty seven yard line.
Speaker 6 (02:14:52):
Bert's sitting there. He's bying that quarterback.
Speaker 3 (02:14:57):
Second down play. Quarterback drops back, steps up in the hocket.
This is actually number zero Barnes, and Barnes is.
Speaker 6 (02:15:03):
Hit and C. J.
Speaker 3 (02:15:04):
Johnson brings him down and he threw the pass at
the end out of bounds. I believe maybe they're gonna
say he was out of the tackle Bogs. I'm not sure.
I don't think it. I think it did get past
the line. They already marked him down. Now they're gonna
stay incomplete third and ten. Great play, but again pressure
(02:15:25):
by C. J. Johnson at there on defense clock's running. C. J.
Johnson is playing the linebacker right now for the Bulldogs. Yeah,
they kept they kept the clock running. They marked him down. Yeah,
down to seventeen, down to sixteen. Carvers haven't even taken
a time out. Carver's letting the time wind on. Down
(02:15:47):
under ten. This will be the last play snap. Crumpton
drops back chunks one deep down field and it is
hid and out of the hens almost Antonius Peters game
got it in his hands and dropped it.
Speaker 10 (02:16:03):
That sound means it is ball game at Bulldog Stadium
and the Opalika Bulldogs knockoff Carver twenty four to fourteen
and ople lik Is head into the playoffs as the
number three seed in the seven A state playoffs.
Speaker 3 (02:16:20):
What a win would a gutsy win? The Bulldogs had
their starting quarterback go down in the first quarter of
this game, survived on defense, grint, toughness, and a heck
of a job coaching by this opal Aka Bulldog team.
Tonight twenty four to fourteen. Dog's a winner over Carver.
We're back to wrap this up on the way as
our postgame show comes up next year. Listening to Bulldog
(02:16:42):
football on the kicker back here inside Bulldog Stadium opal
like a winner tonight twenty four to fourteen, and Opalaika
Punch is their tea to the playoffs tonight. As the
number three seed in seven A Region two, Opelaika will
(02:17:05):
now face Hewitt Trustful on November the seventh on the road.
So make your plans, Bulldog fans heading up to Hewitt Trustful.
A great venue for a high school football game. I've
never been there. Looking forward to going up and checking
that venue out and picking up a big win in
the first round of the playoffs. And Bang m of
Kraken is down there somewhere at amongst all the hooplah
(02:17:27):
going on right now on the field. Back you with me.
Speaker 9 (02:17:30):
I got you, Van, and I got the VIP of
all my good words of the Kenny Prescott game will
forever be remember, all right, Tony, Kenny, go on and
just tell the Dog Nation everybody your thoughts on tonight's game.
Speaker 5 (02:17:43):
Hey, coach, I told.
Speaker 8 (02:17:43):
Him I may be retiring and maybe it may be gone,
but I'm gonna tell you I'm gonna still be a
part of this from here on out. And you know
I told them Coaching Kragan taught me that some bands
don't happen out there tonight, and you just got to
put it behind you and play the next play and
exactly what we.
Speaker 3 (02:18:00):
Did, Coach Prescott three and you made a difference. Coach Prescott.
You know, Coach McCracken's already gone. He went to a
fraternity party. I hope be saving with a seat. I'm
telling you, hey, Hey, and it's the truth too. Really,
Greg got a grandson with a fraternity event tonight he's
got to go to. But hey, he saved for the
end of this one. And I know he was really
happy to see you down on the sidelines. Coach. It
(02:18:22):
was great to see you on the sidelines tonight. I
know it was big. I know you got a chance
to talk to the guys before the game. What was
your message to them before they took the field tonight?
Speaker 8 (02:18:31):
Hey, I told him, I said, listen, comes a time
when you got to defend something that belongs to you.
And all the work that you put in from the
time that we started in the winter all the way
up to this time, it's got to pay off tonight,
and we got to make them and I said it
make it several times to where they regret coming through
the back gates back there, and then you got to
(02:18:53):
make them understand that every lis gotta take, every LIX
got a count. And that's exactly what we did. Some
bad happened, we just went to the next play yeah,
and got after We gain tackle better than I've seen
them do it in a long time. And I think that,
to me was like a first round playoff game that
pushed us over the edge. And I knew we had
(02:19:14):
to I knew we had the talent to do it.
It's just we had to keep grinding and keep grinding
and keep grinding and putting into work. And I'm so
proud of these guys and I'm looking forward to first
round of playoffs.
Speaker 3 (02:19:27):
You've been watching them a lot this season, Coach Prescott,
I know, and even though you hadn't been here in person,
but these close games, especially at home, they found a
way to win them. And that says a lot about
the character of this team, doesn't it exactly?
Speaker 8 (02:19:38):
And that goes all the way back to when Coach
from Cracking first got here. You know, the mentality had
to change in this program right then, and from the
time we started up until this point, we emphasized that
we got to be tougher than anybody. We got to
be more physical than anybody, and we got to lean
on people up front. That's what I told our guys
in there tonight. I said, office in line and leaned
(02:20:01):
on us all deer in spring. And when we go
against him and you got to impose your wheel on
him and up front on defense, we got to get
out to that guy and make him regret, make him
take his equipment off like we did to him one
year and cracking the Bowl. We had a guy that
we don't hit him so much. At the fifty yard line,
he takes his equipment off, walks up in the stands
(02:20:21):
and says, I'm done. So that's kind of mentality we
got to keep home from here on out.
Speaker 3 (02:20:26):
Coach Prescott, great to see you tonight. Enjoy it down
there with the guys. Okay, thank you, Van, appreciate you
all right. That's Kenny Prescott down on the field. Good
to see him back with the dogs tonight. The honorary
captain announced his retirement. Been dealing with some health issues
this offseason, and it was certainly good to see him
back here tonight inside Bulldog Stadium, ople like again A
winner twenty four fourteen tonight, Jason Lee, I know you've
(02:20:48):
been checking scores around the area. What are some shockers
and surprises that stands out to you?
Speaker 13 (02:20:53):
You know, we got a little nervous there at halftime.
We had some upsets brewing with Prattvill on top of
Thompson at the Auburn was down to doth In at
the half. Both of those games have turned. Auburn is
now a two score game, just a couple of minutes
to shave off there to get the victory there. And
Thompson has come back and get in their two score
game with three or four minutes left against Prattvil. So yes,
(02:21:16):
we are in as a three seed. We've got Hewitt
locked in. It looks like Thompson in the next three
minutes is gonna lock in the top seed there. And
then the one close game we're keeping an eye on
is Vestavia had a ten point lead on Hoover. Hoover
just scored a touchdown, got it within two points of
six minutes left in that game. That'll determine who Auburn's
(02:21:39):
gonna play. Yep, thank you, yep, And that'll be the
team that travels to Auburn. Of course, Auburn met Vest
Davie in the second week of the season, and I
took one on the chin big in that one. But
that would be an interesting rematch. Always hard to beat
two teams twice in the same season. And I know
Baker and fair Hope were they playing tonight? Yeah, Baker
and Fairhope. Be honestly, we got so caught up in
(02:21:59):
our game I have with you. We'll check on that one,
but I get with some family listening. I'm sure I'll
get a text here in a second.
Speaker 3 (02:22:05):
Now, that'll be the game on the other side of
the bracket, the winner of our game against you at Trust.
But we'll face in round number two. But tonight Opelaikah
Winter Tonight, twenty four to fourteen. Opelika does have a
scheduled off week next week, so no football for the
Bulldogs next week, and then the playoffs will begin on
November the seventh. But a happy Bulldog Stadium tonight, twenty
four fourteen, and we will take a quick break, we'll
(02:22:27):
come back and continue with more of our post game show,
and of course a little bit later on we'll check
in with head coach Brian Moore live here at Bulldog
Stadium on the kicker. All right, we're back at Bulldog Stadium,
Opelaka winter tonight twenty four to fourteen and Opelika tonight. Boy,
(02:22:47):
I tell you what, it was a gutsy win for
the Bulldogs as Opelika had their quarterback go down in
the first quarter. And I will say I give a
lot of credit tonight to Fuller Young to being ready
to come in and run that offense and make the
play he needed, along with some big help from this
guy number three, c J. Johnson, who joins Mac McCracken
down on the field.
Speaker 6 (02:23:06):
Thanks a lot, guys, CJ.
Speaker 9 (02:23:07):
Coming back home to Opelaka, you know, finishing out who
your senior year you're still playing. This is almost like
go ahead and call us the first round of the playoffs, right,
And I know a lot has been asked of you,
you know, as far as carrying loads and everything and
being over to go wildcat, being in the you know,
even wide receiver and playing defensive end last week. So
(02:23:28):
very unselfish player right here, Van Riggs, and just walk
us through with what this evening feels like. And uh, hey,
you know, great coover team over there, but the Dogs prevailed,
So just tell the dog Nation all about it tonight.
Speaker 6 (02:23:41):
Man.
Speaker 14 (02:23:42):
Going into this game, we knew he had to win,
so like it was gonna be a big game going
in here.
Speaker 6 (02:23:47):
So we came in.
Speaker 14 (02:23:48):
Coach, I was gonna have a big role this week,
playing all special teams, even playing on defense, So I
knew I had a big role.
Speaker 2 (02:23:53):
So I knew I had to come in to get
to win to go to the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (02:23:56):
And CJ talk about you know, I know you wanted
Tom to Opelika approve you belonged at this type of stage.
And I know you've got future plans to go play,
you know, at the next level in college, you know,
And and I think it says a lot about you
as a great running back as you've been that when
coach asked you last week, Hey, can you come play defense,
you didn't hesitate. I know you you've played defense before,
(02:24:18):
h and you really you really embraced that role, didn't you.
Speaker 2 (02:24:21):
Yes, sir, everybody on defense that I came back home,
so I was like, I'm.
Speaker 3 (02:24:24):
Here, what do you think about the heading into the playoffs?
Now you go to Hewitt trustful that's already set and uh,
one of those top teams in Birmingham. I know that'll
be a that'll be a big test for the team,
but I know you guys will be ready, right, Yes, sir,
we just got to stay focused and fights it in
just like we did tonight. What do you think about
your quarterback situation? And I I mean you had Fuller
Young come in. You guys had all the confidence in
(02:24:45):
him to come in and run the offense.
Speaker 14 (02:24:46):
Yes, sir, you know I started quarterback, went down and
I have full trust and Fuller to come in and
finish the game for us.
Speaker 3 (02:24:51):
All right, CJ got Jason Lee up here. We want
to question ask a question to CJ.
Speaker 13 (02:24:55):
I told the coach Landers several times this week, and
he said, Hey, we're gonna rely on all these drun backs,
but we're gonna make sure that CJ has up all
about twenty times and be a difference maker. So talk
about coming in knowing how much you're gonna touch the ball,
and then your whole running back room just dominating tonight.
Speaker 14 (02:25:10):
Yes, sir, I knew I was gonna have to carry
the load tonight, and I knew I had those guys
behind me to pick up any select that I had tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:25:17):
He said, I was loading field all the time.
Speaker 3 (02:25:18):
CEEJ. Congratulations on this win, big man. We're looking forward
to seeing what you can do in the playoffs with
the rest of the dogs. Okay, yes, sir, thank you,
all right. Running back c J. Johnson down on the
field with Mac mccrack and Jason. Boy, has that guy
not been special. I'm gonna tell you you know, we've
we followed CJ a lot. You know, he was here
at Opalaikah, went up the road and was playing at
Springwood eight man football. The guy was carrying at sixty
times a game. He actually came to our media days
(02:25:40):
several years ago from Springwood. Yeah, and when we saw
this guy going, man, this guy is a huge guy,
and he was an Opalika kid living in Opalaikah, it
was great to have him back here and and times.
You know, there's so many running backs and not to
take it, boy, I tell you look the running back room.
Jordan Waits has done incredible, Jalen Nelson has done incredible,
(02:26:00):
and and just that room is just I mean, without
them tonight, you don't pick up this win because the
passing game pretty much went out the window. And that's
not to say Fuller can't pass. It's just to say
he wasn't prepared this week to come in and play.
I mean he was prepared, but it's just, you know,
it's a tough situation against a really good defense. You
don't want to do too much, you don't want to
(02:26:23):
turn the ball over. But the Bulldogs did enough on
the ground to get the win.
Speaker 6 (02:26:27):
Yeah, five running backs.
Speaker 3 (02:26:28):
We talked about how dominant that room is.
Speaker 13 (02:26:30):
Three of them are seniors, and so they knew, Hey,
if with the season on the line today having to
have a win, don't rely on Dothan trying to beat
Auburn and all those other scenarios having to have the
win to get in the playoffs, We're going to go
to those senior running backs.
Speaker 6 (02:26:42):
Is gone.
Speaker 13 (02:26:43):
You know all year have been the focus here offensively.
But I tell you what talking about CJ. I mean
we saw him back in the summer when he came
back to Opulaka. We saw what he could do this
summer and workouts and some of the scrimmages they had.
But then even in a loss at Central Van last week,
going in on defense and saying, hey, I know what
we're doing, you know, offensively and on the ground, but defensively,
(02:27:05):
anything I can.
Speaker 3 (02:27:06):
Do to help this team.
Speaker 13 (02:27:07):
And then remember when Carver had the ball right down
the two yard line, who made the pressure on the
fourth down to get the turnover? Ce J Johnson, you're
running back?
Speaker 3 (02:27:15):
Oh yeah, absolutely, Mac, if you can tracked down Braiden Howard,
we'd love to talk to mister Braden and the big
play he had tonight. I know Max roaming around the
sidelines trying to find everybody. It was senior night tonight.
There's so many family members in town from all of
the different you know, representative senior families. And Witt Cooper
down there right now talking to coach Moore and his
(02:27:37):
father and stuff. And you know, Wit went out of
the game early. The good thing about Witt is he's okay.
That's number one. But we'll have plenty of time to
heal up with a week off before getting into the playoffs.
Speaker 13 (02:27:48):
And while we're waiting on Mac to get our next interview,
Vestavia just scored and made it a two point two
score game, thirty nine to thirty over Hoover with three
minutes left.
Speaker 3 (02:27:57):
So if that score.
Speaker 13 (02:27:58):
Holds, Vestavia's gonna be your three seed going to Auburn
and Hoover. How about this Van the first round matchup
Hoover on the road at Central Phoenix City.
Speaker 3 (02:28:07):
All right, well let's go down Mcnakracken's got Braiden Howard
a huge pick six tonight for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 6 (02:28:13):
All right, Braden.
Speaker 9 (02:28:16):
In that lock in the locker room in halftime, Coach
Massey was up there with the defensive staff and he
was pouring out He said, I just if I was them,
I wouldn't throw at Braden's way and they and they
throw it your way and a game swung turned on
a dime.
Speaker 6 (02:28:32):
Because of a pick six by you.
Speaker 9 (02:28:34):
Walk us through that play and how it just felt,
and to continue on to the end of the game
to where you guys won.
Speaker 5 (02:28:40):
Are you?
Speaker 14 (02:28:41):
We've been talking about staying connected, never relaxing, keep you
your foot on the gas and coming out of hat
time we'll play a good game, but we never relaxed.
Keep my foot on the gas. Come on, make a bet, plea,
set the offense up, get us some momentum, and then
just went off there.
Speaker 6 (02:28:55):
There you go. Great job on me. Put you on
your headphones on and talk to mister Van Ups.
Speaker 3 (02:29:02):
All right, Braden, congratulations on the wind. Take us through
the play. What I know, it almost seemed like the
quarterback got a little too casual back there, and like
you just forgot about, you know, the defense over there
for a little bit when he threw it to look
like it it wasn't quite a pass that had a
lot of zip on it, but you read it, you
broke on it and just kind of take us through
what you saw.
Speaker 14 (02:29:20):
Uh, yes, sir, my man, he threw the same He
ran the same rock up play before it, and he
looked at me and I was playing a little soft
on purpose so I could set him up. And the
next play he ran the ride a little lazy as
you realize. He took his hands out the ball. I
broke on it, took the ball in the air too,
to the house and.
Speaker 3 (02:29:37):
Boy, I at first I thought you tipped it in
the air. Okay, great, but then you stayed with it somehow.
I tipped it a few times to yourself and was
able to take it into the end. So, I mean,
just incredible concentration. Is that a play you've seen him
on film? Is that something you studied, you've been waiting on.
You said you kind of baited him into it.
Speaker 14 (02:29:52):
Yes, sir, coch Mary preaches us talking about reading the
quarterback shoulder, setting them up, beating him in the throwing
the short russ.
Speaker 2 (02:29:58):
We could break on it, all right.
Speaker 3 (02:29:59):
Can you tell us what Coach Murray said when you
came on the sidelines after making the play.
Speaker 14 (02:30:04):
He said, oh, it a been birthday present you a
cold gut.
Speaker 3 (02:30:06):
Oh it was today's birthday. Oh how about that? Well,
happy birthday, Coach Murray. Well that's good to know. Well, Braiden, congratulations.
I think that was the play of the game tonight.
There was a lot of great plays, but boy, what
a huge play that was at pick six to kind
of give us the momentum of the shot and the
arm I think we needed after that. You could really
tell that the team. I think the whole game turned
on that, don't you think.
Speaker 5 (02:30:24):
Oh yeah, for sir.
Speaker 3 (02:30:25):
All right, Braiden, Hey, thanks so much. Looking forward to
seeing more. You almost had you almost had pick number
five at the end of the game. There, I almost
saw it.
Speaker 5 (02:30:31):
It was close. I couldn't get a hand around it.
Speaker 3 (02:30:33):
So I was watching today. I'm counting them up here
for you. Okay, all right, Braiden, Hey, congratulations, Thanks so much. Hey,
it's Braiden Howard had a big pick six tonight and
certainly helped the Bulldogs pull off this one. Twenty four
to fourteen, again the opalaiko winner over Carver. Don't forget.
Coming up tonight, we're gonna have the Honycore Rehabilitation High
School Scoreboard show that'll start up at ten o'clock. We're
going to attend you with more coverage here from Bulldog
(02:30:55):
Stadium on the way. Next, and of course, coming up,
we'll have our chat with coach Brian Moore. He's down
on the sidelines. Mag I think we finally got coach
Read to head up to the locker room. Will visit
with him coming up. Continuing here on the Bulldog post
game show, I'm Van Rings. We got coach McCracken all
(02:31:18):
the location and Auburn. He's a handling business. I'll say
twenty four to fourteen is the winner tonight, Opelika over
the Carver Wolverines. A very happy coach Brian Moore joins
us here in the booth and coach, congratulations, what a
gutsy win it was by your team. Tonight, quarterback goes down,
(02:31:39):
things don't look good. Your team finds a way to
win these close games, especially here inside Bulldog Stadium. And
how about the defense tonight.
Speaker 5 (02:31:47):
Lade incredibly well, you know, Adam Massey did a you know,
exceptional job. He had some pieces back, you know, that
made a difference in the game. I thought, you know,
having having Josh back and having the keycher back. Some
big plays it we just hadn't been making. But Kinley
wuld have played by Brandon Howard. I mean it changed
the whole game. If it did not feel good, the
(02:32:07):
momentum didn't feel right, you know, up until that point.
And for him to bat that ball and knock it
in the air and he's been close, you know, last
week was central. We had a couple opportunities. The ball
got batted, I thought he was gonna pick it. So,
you know, we're just just really proud of our kids.
Then keeping three in there, you know, I mean we
did a good job with it. He got loose a
couple of times. He going to he's too he's too talented.
But for us to keep him in there and you know,
(02:32:28):
have some big sacks you know, those ends doing a
great job. Uh, just proud of our kids. Man, what
a what a huge program win for us coach.
Speaker 3 (02:32:36):
I know it was, Uh it was. It was a
tough decision for you down here in that first half
when you when you elected to go for it on
fourth and five, you had the play set up I
think you wanted, but you didn't come away with points there. Yeah,
and it kind of sucked the life out of having
us for a while. But you gotta have somebody to
pick you up. And that pick six or did didn't it?
Speaker 5 (02:32:52):
It did? And you know, you always suck. I guess
those decisions. And uh, you know, we had had a
quarterback come in. It was kind of cold, you know,
to come in and make that throw. But I just
didn't feel like Phil goals would beat corner, you know,
was as explosive as they were. I just felt like,
you know, normally I play it pretty conservative and kicked
the thing through. So but just such a such a
huge win. Like I said, in our defense, played so
(02:33:13):
well in so many moments, not only the pick six,
but also the the fake punt, you know, getting the
guy on the ground and having it just rally and
so many times you know, making those roll tackles, you know,
and eventually knocking him out of the game. I think
he's okay, but you know it was really good to
see us get after people, you know, and play bulled
on football.
Speaker 3 (02:33:33):
Coach McCracken asked me to ask you, you know, he's
gonna ask you this question, what would you think on
the kickoff? Yeah, when you swipped it. He wanted to
know what you were thinking there.
Speaker 5 (02:33:43):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, you know, just trying to be aggressive,
you know, and trying to win the game. You know,
we had watched about four different kicks and we were
watching a specific player and he each time he had
kind of crept inside the hash and you know, really
if the ball checks up, you know, so we moved
the ball to the hash. Yeah, and we've probably worked
it for all year. Yeah, and just said, man, we're
(02:34:04):
gonna try to steal the momentum. What was it seventeen
fourteen at that time or something that I can't remember,
but we thought we're gonna steal the momentum in this game.
And I learned years ago. You know, we had a
hard time winning my first region championship. It took finished
second my three years, and I felt like I wasn't
aggressive enough. And I think in games where you're trying
to go to the playoffs and you're trying to take
another step forward in your program. You just can't fear anything,
(02:34:27):
you know. And so just again proud of our defense
from rally up and getting a stop and then you
know the offense to finishing the end zone and making
a two score game. I thought was really huge to
see and like I said, great for our program.
Speaker 3 (02:34:37):
We talked about Leakeydrick coming back and boy was he
he was big tonight. The defensive line was big. Josh
Davis was big having him back, and I thought one
guy we talked about Lakeydri coming back with Trey Stone
I think played out of his mind tonight as well.
He batted a ball down there early in the game.
I thought that was huge and saw him making a
lot of good plays too.
Speaker 5 (02:34:55):
Absolutely in Elijah Odin too. You know you saw thirty
three show up with his great length. You know, think
he's a difference maker and he's really more of an edge.
You know, he kind of played him inside and down
as the jack. And then you know Cid J. Johnson
played at jack again tonight. And so we just told
our kids, man, I said, look, and I text our
coaches today, I go come out and walk and kind
of pick up around the field and stuff. And I
text them all and said, listen, I don't care I
(02:35:17):
for guys to play seventy snaps tonight, right like it's
it's winter, go home, man, Like we're not going to
leave this up to a tie break and all that
kind of stuff. And I said, whatever you need, it's
you know, all hands on deck. And our guys did.
Our coaches I thought rotated well. And again, like you said,
not only Josh, but Carson Riddle being back to I
thought was a difference maker inside just having some fresh bodies.
But again, just really proud of our kids. Man. Overall,
(02:35:38):
just a huge win for us.
Speaker 3 (02:35:39):
Talk about Fuller Young coming in coach. I know he
wasn't ask to do a whole lot through the air,
but he's got to run the offense. He's got to
make the handoffs, he's got to protect the football. And
he wasn't, you know, expecting I'm sure in warm ups
that he was going to play three corners tonight, but
he did.
Speaker 5 (02:35:52):
Man, it's just been a year. Yeah, I mean, Bennett's
goes down early and you know, we'll see, you know,
we'll see how Wit and Bennett a r You know,
but Fuller stayed ready. It couldn't happen to a better kid,
you know, to come in and win this game and
help us. You know, here's the thing. I mean, we
didn't ask him make a bunch of throws, but I
thought he threw a great ball to Andre at the
end I thought was p I which would have put
us in field goal range. So I mean that was
(02:36:14):
a big play for him, you know. And then I thought,
as far as handling the four minute van, I thought,
you know he was. He was winding the clock down
in two seconds before he snapped it operated the huddle great,
which gave them just two minutes on the clock. You know,
obviously we'd like to have no time, but for him
to operate that situation I thought was really good. Just
you know, again, it's been a crazy year, but we
(02:36:34):
have a kid after kid man. Just continue to step
up for this program. They're completely bought in. Look, it
was a tough two weeks leading into this ball game.
You know, that's not open like a football, and we
were embarrassed by the way we played. And for our
kids to keep believing and come back to work, like
I told him after Centragan, I said, listen, you know
you have fulfilled your obligation as a bulldog. You can
you can go. I mean I don't want you to,
(02:36:56):
all right, but if you're over this, right, if these
two losses have been too much for you, that's okay,
you know, go go star basketball man, go do something else.
And every one of our kids were here. We pulled
up I think fifteen ninth graders this week after they
went and played their tails off against Central Monday night.
And just here's the other thing you did. Now, Okay, yes,
playoffs are really important, but it gave us two more
(02:37:18):
weeks in football that are guaranteed. Right, we get a
bye week, we get to do what we call, you know,
just kind of a beanie bowl we call it, which
is basically guys that are scouts, you know, that don't
get a lot of playing time, will scrimmage. We did
this past Monday, we'll do it again Monday and Tuesday.
They'll have a full scrimmage and we're evaluating. It's kind
of like bowl practice, you know. And obviously we're gonna
get our starters ready to go play in Birmingham, but
(02:37:39):
you know, for us getting those that next week, healing
up finally playing through this region. And I'll be honest
with you, man, after what we've gone through from an
injury standpoint, you know, seven and three is never the
goal here. But our kids to win against Pike Road,
against Oathing at home, to come and win this game tonight. Man,
you know, how buy those guys?
Speaker 1 (02:37:57):
Man?
Speaker 5 (02:37:57):
Just starting to believe in this pro you know, taking
a turn. Man, it's just exciting to see.
Speaker 3 (02:38:03):
I want to let Jason go in just a moment,
but I think this is crazy though. You look and
if you can't look at schedules in high school football,
the way these kids are and how they respond from
week to week. This Carver team, they put up thirty
five points on Central, they beat Enterprise at Enterprise forty
nine to fourteen. You come in here tonight and you
hold them to fourteen points.
Speaker 5 (02:38:22):
It's just it's in this region. What I've learned in
these two years going through and playing hire many fourteen
region games or whatever it is, is that everyone is
so good. Like everyone you know that if you don't,
if you don't go and play. And honestly, for us,
you know, the Enterprise game was a game we didn't
go and play, you know, and if you don't, they
would embarrass you. That's how good these people are. And
(02:38:42):
tonight we showed up to play. We're ready to go.
Just an incredible job running and tackling, getting back to
a bulldog defenses again. It was great to see and
really proud of our coaches and players what they did tonight.
Speaker 3 (02:38:52):
How do you get this team to play the way
they play at home now on the road. That's the challenge.
Speaker 5 (02:38:57):
I think, you know, I think I think sometimes you know, uh,
certain people like la Hedrick raised the level of everybody else, right,
they raised the boats and and and we've got to
have that. Like Blake Johnson was back tonight. You know,
he he had a he had a good night. I mean,
I have an elite night like a bunch of scores
and stuff. But he had a good night, right. And
he didn't play good last week. He was not himself
(02:39:18):
and I don't know, it just didn't feel right. But
our our best players have to play good on the road,
and you know, and we hadn't played good. I mean, frankly,
I mean you know that that what do we have
two wins on the road and and you know, maybe
a little bit less opponent in Callaway was a big
win for us in overtime. They're a good team, but
you know, again, we've got to go and play better.
But I think after a bye week we're gonna feel
(02:39:39):
rejuvenated and uh, you know, we'll have a plan, you know,
get on those good buses and go and eat something
good and you know we'll be there early and control
the environment. But you're right, Van, like, it's gonna be
a lot of questions for coach m kracken and some
of my you know colleagues and some of the guys
that you know, I know in this profession.
Speaker 3 (02:39:56):
What do I do, Davis to get you some hotel?
Speaker 5 (02:40:00):
Hey, I'm serious, Like, I don't you know. Whatever we
need to do, you know, we'll do, but you will
have to go play good. But again, that three seed
is a good road and that's what's exciting. Obviously, we're
going to go play an incredible team on the road
with several Division one players. I watched them early in
the year. I can't remember maybe play Jack is why
I saw them on film and they're good. But again,
excited to have a chance to go play those.
Speaker 6 (02:40:21):
Guys, you know, coach.
Speaker 13 (02:40:23):
Two things I wanted to ask you first. You know,
you mentioned the last two weeks, the frustration there and
getting over the hump. Number one, to get over the hump,
but number two with the playoff implication. You yeah tonight.
You know, going back to last Friday and going into
the weekend, you know you and I had plans to
go to all the university games. Take the boys of
the game. He said, Hey, man, I got to lock
myself in this house, figure out how to be a carver,
and then Sunday, I'm just bringing up things I know
(02:40:45):
you wouldn't Sunday. You and your staff probably spent close
to twelve hours here on Sunday with a great plan,
and every coach that I have talked to throughout the
week in pregame today look me dead in the eye
and say, we are so confident with this plan that
we have so talk a little bit about, you know,
without sharing too the plan and how that kind of
came to go.
Speaker 6 (02:41:03):
You guys had coming into the night.
Speaker 5 (02:41:04):
Well, I appreciate you saying all that and bringing that up.
I mean, our guys do work hard, and you know
my family understands what this takes. You know, Saturday morning,
I couldn't sleep, of course, after the central game, and
so we didn't have youth football. We're done with youth football,
and so I, you know, I got up and you
know it, took my computer and sat on my porch
and drank a cup of coffee and started working and
made note after note until probably about ten thirty that night.
(02:41:25):
I watched very little of college football. It was on,
but I wasn't watching it. And then Sunday morning, we
came in early and I met with the staff a
little bit differently this week, where I could meet more
with both sides and you know, just offered some thoughts.
Of course, I still, you know, my coordinators still controlled
the you know, the plan, but I wanted to offer
anything I could. I felt like, you know, we had
(02:41:45):
a great plan from a special team standpoint. But again,
I just I appreciate you saying that, you know, this
is a tough profession. I mean, there's a lot of
time in it, you know, but it's so rewarding, man,
to see those kids tonight, like the faces of our
guys that after two weeks have you know, just been
through the grind to see them and hug them and
you know, see the smiles on their faces. Just That's
(02:42:06):
what it's about.
Speaker 3 (02:42:07):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:42:07):
It's a lot of a lot of stuff that we
deal with, you know, and and have to fight through.
But these are the moments that make it special and
the reason you do it.
Speaker 13 (02:42:15):
Yeah. And then secondly, I'm glad you wasn't up here.
What this isn't sake I have Auburn. Auburn was down,
we were down, Thompson was down, and we're like, oh no,
you know the but you know the pivotal moment there,
so you know, I know you talked a little bit
about the rest going them, but just you know the
huge the huge momentum that's going to come in. If
we go back to last year, we saw that week
(02:42:36):
off and then Florence m came in here and just
had no shot with arrested bullet all the time.
Speaker 3 (02:42:41):
I mean we kind of looking at the same thing
here this year.
Speaker 5 (02:42:44):
Yeah. I mean, obviously the bye week is so crucial,
and uh, you know, I don't think there aren't many people.
I mean some obviously played here and understand this, you
know the world that we're in, but being in seven
a man in this region is it's just I can't
explain the grind, Like how the physical toll. It takes
on our players, how fast and physical everybody is, and
(02:43:04):
that bye week could not come at a better time.
Speaker 6 (02:43:06):
You know.
Speaker 5 (02:43:06):
It's it's good to have mid season, but if you're
in the playoffs, it's obviously really really important here. We
know who we are. We got to fine tune some things.
Obviously we have to go play our best game against
Hewett on the road. But you know, I like, you know,
I like our chances, you know, to go compete with
those guys after a week off, for sure, you're right,
And uh, man, we'll figure out the logistics and what
(02:43:28):
we can do to make it better on the road. Man,
I just you know, maybe start faster and figure out
some things we can do from a scheme standpoint to
maybe steal some yards early and you know, and try
to throw our best punch early.
Speaker 3 (02:43:39):
Yeah, I'm excited. That's It's a venue I've never been
to and looking forward to it. It's always great to
go on the road and uh and check out a
good team and then go pick up a good road
wind and well, can you.
Speaker 5 (02:43:49):
Know, the only way you get over. I've had people
ask me about that. Like now we're kind of matching
on Birmingham every year. And you know, obviously we're making
the playoffs consistently and that we plan to continue to
do that, you know, but we'll have to go and
play it a new spot. But the only way you
get over that hump is just keep playing them, you
know what I'm saying. Keep going. You're gonna have to
go through them. They're gonna have to come through our region.
(02:44:09):
That's just the way it is. Man. It's gonna be
us in Birmingham every year, playing it simple. And so
the more you play in the more comfortable and confident
you get in those games, and you never know what'll happen. Man,
you win one, and you know, I told our kids,
this team does remind me of twenty twelve. I mean
it really does. Like I'm not saying that we're I
hope we make a run, but that team was beat
up and kind of still trying to find itself and
(02:44:31):
found itself in that first round playoff game and we
just went to work, man and won four straight in
the playoffs and had an incredible finish. So you know,
maybe this team's you know, in that same mole.
Speaker 3 (02:44:40):
We'll see Coach appreciate the visit congratulations on this big
